If you mean Seiya is a better person who doesn't try and push himself onto a girl who keeps saying she has a boyfriend. Your correct! They have a friendship in the manga and they are never really made out to be a ship.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't expect Sailor Moon Cosmos to have so little soul. I didn't watch any of the new anime at all. I only wanted to see Seiya and Usagi and they really took away their ship dynamic.

Seiya and Usagi had that married couple and best friends energy at the same time and I just didn't see any of that.

And on top of that... Seiya is just plain boring. He's the most boring of the starlights and they really weren't my favorites in the old anime.

Someone please inform me of this 'queer erasure'. Asanuma was never properly implied to be gay and in both the manga and crystal he has a 'man crush' on Mamoru. Mako played off the crush thing as a joke and it was pretty obvious at most it was, Asanuma didn't appear many times In the manga either just a few more times in Black moon and on cameo appearance in Infinity and stars. I would've to see him a bit more but Sailor moon is not about gay awareness it's about a girl falling in love and her and her man and her friends save the world.

How does this help your point that crystal is worse than the 90s anime when the inner senshi are bullying Usagi along with Luna and Artemis telling her she needs to act more like a princess and always calling her lazy and even telling her Mamo won't want to marry her anymore. Seiya who can't take no for an answer after Usagi tells him every episode she has a boyfriend and then friendzones him at the end. And Chibiusa having a crush on her dad after learning he's her dad? At least she grew out of it in crystal and the manga.

In the Manga and crystal Usagi and the girls have a sisterhood a well constructed friendship where they don't bully Usagi and instead help cheer her on both when they are alive and dead. Also, when they are alive they actually help in battles compared to just yelling at Sailor moon. Chibiusa doesn't have a crush on her dad and isn't constantly telling Usagi she's gonna take Mamo which 90s Usagi actually gets jealous of but she's a CHILD.

You are focusing on background/side characters instead of who the story is about which is much better in terms of her everything I just listed.

Maybe focus on how the 90s anime has a little girl who's a MAIN character crushing on her dad instead of a character who got less than 2 minutes screentime.

That is not 'queer erasure' you are just finding a excuse to hate on crystal.

I would like to see your 'many' issues.

Of course both versions have their issues but crystal is not 1000% worse.

something I feel like hasn't been talked about much....is, outside of the Haruka Michiru Setsuna Polycule.....almost all the Queer characters got deleted how in SOME cases....this is a consequence of the show trying to be more Manga accurate...but they have no excuse in other cases Zoisite and Kunzite are a case of Manga accuracy since they weren't gay in the manga.....ALLEGEDLY...I could argue they were since the whole reason the 90's anime made them as such was because they were nuzzling in their first appearance together in the Manga and Zoisite proceeded to do Drag, but I digress Ittou Asanuma

he is Mako's best friend and in the manga, She introduces him by saying he has a crush on Mamoru, which his actions throughout R basically confirm, Crystal downplays his crush in weird ways, and there is a scene where he tells Mako he knows she's Sailor Jupiter and how he words that he doesn't want her to get hurt comes across as Romantic....which she Laughs at because it's weird to hear him say something romantic to her Crystal makes the line Serious romantic confession and doesn't have her dismiss it like she does in the Manga

he has only ONE appearance in the 90's anime, in Stars where he is given a stereotypically gay voice and Usagi makes a homophobic comment about him

IRONICALLY some aspects of his character were turned into an unrelated character in one of the Alien filler eps of R wherein Mako is given a friend who has been her confidant and rock through her whole childhood...and who she Laughs at the idea she has any romantic connection to when it's pointed out they love eachother, so he may also be Gay like Manga Asanuma,

my point is.....there was no justifiable reason for Crystal to make all the queer male characters Heterosexual if they were pushing for Manga Accuracy....

it is one of MANY issues that make Crystal 1000% worse than the 90's anime
