I’ve always loved this scene from Saladin Ahmed’s Magnificent Ms. Marvel run! Although Kamala is initially overwhelmed by Deathbringer’s horde of summoned-demons, which symbolically function as a physical representation of the feelings of despair & hopelessness that Kamala’s experiencing upon learning about her Abu’s terminal disease, she is able to briefly power through her existential self-doubting by utilizing her new Kree Stormranger Nanosuit to triumph over Deathbringer and his demons!

That final line of Kamala’s narration is especially relatable & inspiring to me on a deeply personal level, especially since I first read the storyline of where Kamala’s father dying from a rare disease around the same time my paternal grandmother tragically passed away from Parkinson’s:

“I’m not being singled out by God. Life is just hard.”

Seriously, Norman Osborn is one of those villains that you just LOVE to HATE considering what a massive scumbag he is! Especially his Ultimate Universe incarnation!

Like, because he created the Oz formula that both gave the spider that bit Peter its spider-powers as well as transformed himself into a literal goblin monster, Ultimate Osborn is under the delusion that he “owns” Peter and can therefore boss him around like his own personal slave and try to blackmail him into assassinating Nick Fury (who previously rejected his sloppy attempts at recreating the Super Soldier Serum), threatening to murder Aunt May & Mary Jane if he refuses:

You have no idea what a beautiful sight it was to see Ultimate Spidey not only refuse to give into Osborn’s blackmail, but after the Green Goblin retaliated by throwing MJ off the Queensborough Bridge (unlike Gwen she thankfully survived though…), he beat the living crap out of that green bastard!

I thought it was a nice touch in Persona 5 Royal that the scene where the player is given the option to choose to have Joker enter a romantic relationship with Makoto takes place in the Lala Escargot’s Okama bar “Crossroads!”

Although Atlus as a company unfortunately has a track record of including homophobic & transphobic stereotypes in several of their games, even in P5 which has that AWFUL 3-minute-long scene where two predatory gay men sexually harass Ryuji, which is played for “comedy” (which the Royal edition at least tried to censor & rewrite for the American localization, wherein the two men were now instead overly enthusiastic drag queens who mistake Ryuji for one and wanted to give him a make-over after they saw him exit the Crossroads bar…), I honestly thought that the bartender Lala Escargot was a more positive example of a genderqueer character in the game. While the game never specifies whether Lala is actually a trans-woman or just a drag queen, she’s at least never treated like a joke since the all the other characters respect her pronouns, she acts as a responsible voice of reason, and she repeatedly defends Joker during Ohya’s confidant line whenever the drunken journalist tries to offer him alcohol (Lala doesn’t put up with Ohya’s bullcrap). And I know that I’m alone in that opinion that Lala is one of Atlus’ more positive or less problematic examples of LGBTQ+ representation, since I’ve seen other players compliment her character as well!

Still, even though I thought Lala was a solid step in the right direction (even if it's still imperfect) despite P5’s other problems with queer rep, I do hope that Atlus tries to do better going forward in future games, especially considering that the Persona franchise is no longer being directed by Katsura Hashiro since most of the widely criticized queerphobic content occurred under his leadership. Heck, even the Royal re-release for P5 (which rewrote the aforementioned homophobic scenes to make them less problematic) had a different director, Daiki Ito, who thankfully gave us more queer-coded bonding moments between Joker & Akechi (I totally ship them together as boyfriends, similar to how I also ship Joker with Makoto).

I really love the speech Peter gives when he, along with Mary Jane, Liz, Flash & Kenny “Kong” are all in Saturday detention together after MJ beat up Flash in retaliation for him insulting the late Gwen Stacy (this takes place immediately after Gwen was murdered by Ultimate Carnage). After Flash angrily storms out and Kong tries to defend him, Peter states exactly what kind of person Flash truly is:

Hello hello again! It's good to have you back for a little while! Unfortunately there is a lot of infighting in the critical sphere right now and it's not very fun to follow. And worse still Lily is as smug as ever. People are too invested in who ripped off what, who's disrespecting this or that, they should just be having fun at Lily's expense. That's what Saiscribbles has done, and you can tell how effective it is because Lily has tried every strategy in the book to prove how not mad she is.

You know what?

I think I would like to poke fun at the whole thing. I mean, it's sounds like she's gotten a bit ridiculous since I've been gone. (Ridiculous sounds like an understatement, thought.)

I've done serious and it's exhausting. You can only take her serious for so long before you realize she doesn't really even know or believe what she's saying.

As for the fighting, well... It's a shame, but let's try to focus on what's at the core of this blog: Gossiping about Lily.

...But I do have one thing I want to get off my chest, so I will mention it here and then move on. It is under the read bar just so those who don't care can ignore it.

I do have one thing to say about the drama, and that's about Ethel.

Seriously, I watched Evangeline Skovs video, which was one of the better coverages on the subject and there was no plagiarism. Not even of me, and I was a source!

Never mind that fact that Ethel legit lied about my blog in their rebuttal, claiming that Levi couldn't find anything on my blog about their video, or glade, so Evangeline was lying.

Their proof? Levi used the search bar, used the word minor and glade, and nothing came up except one post...

Fun fact: I'm bad at tagging things, and my search bar is kind of useless because of that.

(Side note: why would I use glade's name? Why would I want to draw attention to someone who I assumed wanted to be left alone? I'm pretty sure that was made clear in the video.)

Anyway, if you used my archive you could easily find TONES of posts from me talking about the video in question with details.

When you and others continue to parrot the myth that victim testimony does not constitute as valid evidence, you are harming victims of rape and abuse. This is straight up rape culture and, since I’m pushing back any video coverage on the matter until I’ve finished dealing with Lily because I don’t want to muddle things, I need you to stop promoting falsehoods. We have legal members on our team who have passed the bar, Patchie does not, Opal does not, and neither does You Can Eat Hearts. You are causing unnecessary harm to victims by breathing life into myths constructed by rape culture. To be clear, I am not asking for your denouncement of certain people, just for you to please, stop publishing bad legal takes.

Also, let us not forget that the majority of Uchiha who unlocked their Sharingan during Tobirama’s lifetime lived during the Warring States era, when nearly EVERYONE had at least once dead relative. So of course a lot of Uchiha back then would have awakened their base Sharingan from feelings of loss and despair.

Tobirama’s still a bigoted asshole IMO though, since he used Madara as a scapegoat to discriminate against all of the Uchiha Clan during his tenure as Second Hokage…

She outright unlocked her sharingan form the despair proving what tobirama said about sharingan correct

It was always the people who are claiming that was sasuke was never in the darkness trying to say tobirama made the curse of hatred up he didn't

Why were they saying that Sarada awakening her Mangekyou Sharingan proved Tobirama wrong? Because they thought it meant that she awakened it out of something other than loss or despair? The thing is, firstly, Tobirama was referring to the regular Sharingan, not the Mangekyou, so there's not even a comparison there in the first place. Secondly, Sarada wouldn't have even been the first person to unlock the Sharingan from a non-negative emotion, because Obito first unlocked his regular Sharingan from a desire to protect Rin, not from any loss or despair. It was the despair he (and Kakashi) felt from losing Rin which led to them unlocking the Mangekyou, but he unlocked his regular Sharginan through different emotions.

During Sasuke's talk with the first 4 Hokages, Tobirama made it clear that there were several examples of Uchihas in the past who's Will of Fire was greater than their hatred, including Kagami and Itachi, so he had already established that the Curse didn't apply to every Uchiha. Therefore, just because an Uchiha may unlock the regular (or even the Mangekyou) Sharingan through an emotion other than loss or despair, this wouldn't serve as evidence that the Curse didn't exist.

I started playing Persona 5 Royal’s direct sequel, Persona 5 Strikers, and I love how twice in a row Haru goes full ACAB!
