"Shut up! Shut up! Don't ever fucking tell me what to do!!!" Roman roared, flecks of foam flying from his mouth as he rushed at the masked goon who spoke out of turn. Men scattered to avoid his wrath as he slammed the figure against the nearby wall hard enough to shake the room, the crime lord breathing heavily like a bull on a rampage as he leaned in with bloodshot eyes. Just where the FUCK did they get off on telling him to calm down? Roman was calm, but he wouldn't be for long if they didn't get their asses in gear and go sort out the shitshow Rorschach had just caused. Millions of dollars gone, effectively flushed down the drain or rather burnt to a crisp, a shipment of drugs intended for Gotham's streets quite literally going up in smoke. That stinking vigilante had somehow gotten wind of his plans and got past the guards stationed there. If the useless fuckers weren't already dead, Roman would have personally skinned them alive for their monumental fuck-up in not protecting that cargo of narcotics. Now his lucrative deal was bust, his pockets burnt and his bloodlust at an all-time high. With herculean effort he resisted the impulse to headbutt the moron who spoke out of turn, his fingers digging hard enough in their arm to draw blood were it not for his gloves. "Now you listen up and you listen good. I want you all out on the streets looking for that asshole's hideout. Leave no stone in this city unturned because if I don't find out where he's hiding, I swear I'm gonna need to hurt somebody and starting with you might just be the therapy I need." Each word was accentuated with the jabbing of his finger, furious brown eyes almost wolfish in their lust for blood. It did nothing to mollify his mood and Roman breathed heavily, regaining a second wind as he casually drove his elbow squarely into the masked figure's mask hard enough to shatter their nose. "Oh, and don't let your guard down. That Rorschach is a slippery little bastard but whatever you think he'll do to you, I promise I'll do ten times worse if he ain't dead by the end of the night! Now get your asses out there!" Without skipping a beat, his men flocked out of there, none of them wanting to be on the receiving end of his wrath. Like his namesake, Roman was in a black mood and it was only going to get worse as the night went on.

In this Sanremo week has resurfaced something that is effectively a systemic disease in our country: the ideological, social and economic discrepancy between the North and the South.

The Questione Meridionale is anything but resolved, it's not just an economic gap like many believe (for which us southerners are often blamed, like we chose to be unprivileged and poor, okay lol). There's a worrisome system of beliefs in act, the discrimination is palpable and hateful people have become increasingly more bold and entitled with the last two governments, that have seen Lega (a right wing party that has its foundation in antimeridionalismo and xenophobia) and Fratelli d'Italia (currently at the gov, with their pinkwashing - hoping that a woman prime minister would make it better somehow) in basically every position of power.

And when we dare to speak up you know what happens? We get belittled, we're told we're playing the victim, that is our fault because we don't work hard enough, because we have to always work harder than the rest to have half of the results, because it's our fault that we ended up using illegal means to survive in a system that doesn't care about us. I could tell you about a childhood with no drinkable water in the summer, of discrimination on the job as soon as the clients heard my accent, of going on social media and seeing "Vesuvio wash them with fire" week in and out over absolutely trivial things (there's a even song about this ndr); but I don't think it would make any difference to these people.

Massimo d'Azeglio said "Fatta l'Italia, bisogna fare gli italiani" (now that Italy is made, we need to make the italians); it's been 163 years and I'm not sure we're even halfway there.

hello hello here is my legally obligated Art Vs. Artist for 2023!!

I struggled a bit more with inspiration and motivation this year, but I still managed to make some art that I’m proud of and enjoyed creating! I did a fair bit of OC art, contributed to Art Fight, had an unexpected amount of fun painting eggs, and of course still had time to squeeze in some slutty Izzy art <3 (albeit not nearly as much as last year).

all in all, a bit of a random mix this year, but I’m hoping to make more progress and regain some proper inspiration in 2024 :))
