In the wake of what's going on in the world, I see a lot of rhetoric that basically boils down to the idea that everyone has a responsibility to watch every bad thing that's going on in the world all the time. That awareness itself is a responsibility that everyone has always.

I'm not going to say that people do or don't have a responsibility to be aware of things, but I want to talk about how to take care of yourself and others while doing so.

For some context, I spent close to a year and a half reading about every terrorist attack in the world as part of my work on the Global Terrorism Database. It was 2015/2016, so this was the height of ISIS/Daesh, it was a major time for Boko Haram, and it was when there was a lot of political violence that we weren't sure how to classify in places like Yemen, Crimea, and Libya (stuff the GTD didn't know how to classify had all of is information recorded, and then it went into purgatory until someone above my paygrade decided what to do with it). What this means is that I was spending 10-20 hours a week reading about hundreds or thousands of attacks a month and, in my case, recording infomation about the type of attack and the type of weapon. Much of my life was reading terrible things.

Limit what you do in isolation. One of the worst changes for me during that time, mental health-wise (even though it was great for my commute) was when I went from working in-person to working remotely. With other people, there are ways to diffuse the pain. A burden shared is a burden halved and all that. That may mean talking about it, or joking about it, or finding some other way to engage with it that isn't just reading about the most horrible things in the world and then stewing in your own thoughts about them.

Find something to do that's totally unrelated. I highly recommend finding something to do with your hands, if you can (knitting, Lego, cooking, whatever), but regardless of what it is, you should have some time when you entirely switch away to something different. During a fair amount of my time with the GTD, I was also doing my undergrad thesis about terrorism on TV, so a huge amount of my life was about terrorism in some way. The only other thing I watched was Great British Bake Off, and I would just rewatch the episodes, over and over.

Be compassionate about how you share information and with whom. Use trigger warnings, and consider using consistent tagging on places like Tumblr so people can blacklist it if they need to. Also consider whether it's appropriate or necessary to share photos of bodies or other results of horrible violence. What is it accomplishing, to show that? Can that goal be accomplished other ways that don't require the equivalent of jumpscares of unexpected photos of dead or brutalized people? Are you just showing it because you think that everyone should have to see it? If you are showing it, are there ways to mitigate against harm it may do?

Do what you can to avoid an echo chamber. Sometimes, when everyone around you is upset or angry about the same thing, it just amplifies itself, and you all get angrier and more upset in perpetuity without accomplishing anything.

Work towards action. Watching terrible things happen for the sake of saying that you haven't looked away isn't as meaningful as taking action in some way. Write to your Congressperson. Donate. Do whatever is appropriate for the thing you want to stop. But penance via watching terrible things happen doesn't accomplish anything.

Recognize compassion fatigue and do what you can to mitigate it. If you spend long enough doing this, you start to lose context, and you start to become less able to have compassion about things. If you're reading about attacks with dozens or hundreds of deaths regularly, five can start to not seem like that many. If you're reading only about the worst suffering in the world, "lesser" suffering of those around you can start to seem unimportant and petty. Do what you can to mitigate that.

Be kind to yourself. You do nobody any good if you burn out. Look away, if you need to. Take a break. Do things so you can enjoy life, because otherwise you are just another person suffering in the world. Other people's pain isn't a hair shirt for you to wear.

Thanks for your response. I was the anon who ended the ask with 'the fandom can suck it'. When I saw that anon who you and twinanimatronics had assumed to be the one that keeps you know starting shit with you, I really hated that they labeled us as shipbrain or whatever they said. I am aroace who finds comfort in shipping characters and that doesn't make me any less aroace. Can't people like them just let us have this, let us share it and stop taping our mouths? God. We are not even hurting anyone. I posted a solarxmoon and solarxearth mini comic thing yesterday and behold, I believe that same anon found it and is looking adamantly through the solarxmoon and even solarxearth because I didn't use the tsams tag for my comic. I took the comic down fast and turned off anon messages so quick because God that anon was quick to leave nasty messages, six in total and that was panic attack inducing. That someone is searching out the tag for a ship that they don't like, claim that "it's everywhere" and I'm "poisoning the fanbase" when I'm just.... here... playing with my own dolls, doing my own thing.... and not bothering anyone... Not even putting the ship in the tags publicly because I have Such respect and love for the silly little youtube show, who also plays with fnaf characters like they're dolls.

there's an unspoken rule of fandom etiquette that i always assumed everyone knew, where you don't tag something as a pairing unless the op 1) has tagged it as that pairing to begin with, or 2) has explicitly said they're cool with it somewhere else on their blog.

this goes for any ship, but ten times as much for stuff that includes incest/adultxminor/abuse and heavy topics like that, because they rightfully make people uncomfortable.

are you asking me if my art was drawn with those ships in mind? are you asking me if i am comfortable with people treating it as such? are you asking me if I'm gonna be happy to see that in my tags?

because then my answer is a solid and resounding "No."

Hi I'm fucking too disabled to work but have to get a fucking lawyer to get fucking disability SSI from the stupid fucking government because it's literally designed to make people give up before they get their gods damned money.

I literally don't even eat even a single meal each day.

I'm also trans and would like to fucking medically transition someday but at this point I've just fucking give up that hope because I will literally never be able to afford it unless capitalism gets smashed tomorrow. in which case none of this matters, but that's not going to happen because that's not how revolution works so fucking anyways

No I am not fucking joking. My twin and I were literally born four months early. We were literally guaranteed disability SSI from the moment we were born because of all the shit that went wrong and the fact that both of us were blatantly fucking autistic and had dyslexia and all this other shit.

And some fucking government worker fucked up when we turned eighteen and not only took us off the fucking survivor's benefits SSI, which overrode the disability SSI, but also fucking took us off the list for the disabled SSI.

Literally assigned abled at eighteen.

And I still haven't even fucking been diagnosed with anything for my physical disability because again! No health insurance! Because I can't work! Because I'm disabled! And since I can't work I can't get my disability diagnosed! Which means I can't get accommodations! It's literally a fucking endless cycle that will only stop if I or capitalism die!!!

So I've emerged alive from my trip and I'm never taking that much again because it was a fucking rollercoaster. Here's some highlights (most of this is my best effort at transcription because my writing was practically unintelligible). Also ignore my weird posting times, my laptop is on California time.

I started gunposting to my best mate.

I posted that thing about the implications of the Cars universe.

My best mate woke up and I can't spell wobbegong.

I watched a Wendigoon conspiracy iceberg compilation that blew my mind.

Whatever this was.

I went down then and had some lucidity for a little while. Sent my beta some passages from Chapter 10. We started talking about lambs, and then we discussed ketamine.

I apparently had very bad nausea that I don't remember.

One point I blacked out and woke up without any pants on but I was wearing trunks when I came to. I was not wearing trunks when I took the shrooms. I have no idea when I decided to take off my daks and put trunks on. Apparently I took off my shirt and lounged in bed for a while because I woke up in bed without my shirt on.

I made meself a vegemite sandwich, which I don't remember making or eating but there's a dirty plate in my sink and vegemite stuck in my molars.

I had a dip and did some writing.

I crested again and there's about a half hour there where I blacked out and have no recollection of anything that happened.

I wrote "You're tripping BALLS" four times on my arm in increasingly messy handwriting. I only do this when I have a bad trip so I reckon the trip went south at some point. I have no memory of the bad part of the trip.

I apparently decided to start cleaning my rifle but I stopped halfway through and the bolt was left sitting on the seat at my table.

I went through my search history toward the end of the trip and I apparently blacklisted "ninjago" on Tumblr (also some other tags but that's the funniest one).

There was a while when the hostility towards "incorrect" interpretations was pretty intense. Especially around the Pale King, because of course it was. I know that's not gone, but it seems to have chilled out from what I remember it being a couple years ago.

And it's like, I can see where some people were upset about the "PK did nothing wrong he's actually completely good and wholesome" interpretations, because yeah, uh, that's not supported by the game. But then there would be people who were upset over different interpretations or explorations of PK that were just different, even though they were based off the same material. Different "sides" on which PK interpretation was the correct way, and anyone who thought differently was Wrong and Bad and Should Be Blocked. It was exhausting.

I got so tired of seeing people go back and forth with each other and other people vagueblogging about so-and-so's horrible awful PK takes, and stuff like that that I just stopped interacting with the character as much. I still think he's neat, but I never got that spark of interest back. :(

The other worst part of fanon is the incessant shipping. While I have mellowed out a bit regarding shipping, I am still very very annoyed by the sheer quantity of inane pairings. Sometimes, they elicit "i want to study you" feelings in me, because what the fuck was going through your mind when you put those two together??? But most of the time, I am just annoyed by them. I think a good quarter or third of my blacklist is just ship tags. It helps me have a more pleasant experience when I don't have to see those.

It's all good. I used to have a pinned with a bunch of evidence but it vanished for some reason and I haven't gotten around to making a new one yet.

First off, oh yeah she would reuse names. It's a long running pattern of hers. She recycles usernames even if it would bust her,and she recycles characters from Stockholm which she insists she didn't write (Saige is Spectrum Dash from one of the Stockholm sequels)

Here's proof that Alchorative, Lily, and Tara are the same person and an example of her reusing a name:

The e621 account had been active since 2017, and it was found in the 2020s. All of its contents fit perfectly with Lily's obsessions, both positive and negative. The pfp was a gardevoir performing "acts" on Red. A ton of the favorites involved gardevoir with young children. There was a lot of the "anime perv pandering" she gripes about (including Dragon Maid). The comment that lead me to find the account was on a blacklisted image of Kid Icarus (blacklisted tags contain underage content).

Her response was to send herself an ask claiming "someone was impersonating her on a furry site", which was an attempt do downplay and an accidental confession. Lily still insists Tara is a real person, and the Alchorative name was attributed to Tara, not Lily. (Did I mention that account had nearly 5000 favorites and over 100 of them were blacklisted?)

Shortly after that account was found, someone came to us saying they'd found newer accounts on SankakuComplex under Alchorative, EbaraTara, and SpiritusKhayyim. All of them had the exact same content in their favorites, which leads me to believe Lily made three just in case one was found. Those accounts had over 1000 iirc, and they were deleted as soon as they were discovered.

Then EbaraTara shows back up again on an even darker, deeper site that I think she was arrogant enough to believe nobody would find. Every time she gets found, she goes deeper.

None of the accounts behave like a troll. Why would a troll maintain an e621 account for years and amass thousands of favorites that are so specific to Lily, and then stop using it if it was someone trying to make her look bad? Why would a troll risk that level of legal trouble to then jump on an even lesser known site and fill it with 3D renderings of children, that used real children as references, and then delete them when they're found if it was a troll trying to make Lily look bad? What troll would risk going on to an actual fully illegal site and describe Lily's sibling if it was a troll?

It's Lily. It's always been Lily. Lily is a pedophile and she's been desperately trying to toe the line of plausible deniability to not get fully caught.
