Hasbro's just announced a reissue of Legacy Armada Prime, and you'd do well to get on that if you don't already have one.

He's one of the best figures the trilogy has to offer; dare I say THE best.

Chaldean Oracle Verse 147, Gate of Man and Gate of Immortals, Cancer/Capricorn, and Daniel.

If you speak to me often, you will perceive everything in lion-form. For neither does the curved mass of heaven appear then nor do the stars shine. The light of the moon is hidden, and the earth is not firmly secured, but everything is seen by flashes of lightning.

If you often invoke me all things will appear to you to be a lion. For neither will the convex bulk of heaven then be visible; the stars will not shine; the light of the moon will be concealed; the earth will not stand firm; but all things will be seen in thunder.

Disclaimer: This post is part of my original line of posts of my own blog where I...you guessed I ramble about stuff even if I am wrong because why not. Take it with a grain of salt AND if you actually know what the verse actually mean and want to correct me please go ahead.

"the light of the moon is hidden" reference to Cancer.

Summer tropic is in Cancer, and the winter tropic in Capricorn. And since Cancer is nearest to us, it is very properly attributed to the Moon, which is the nearest of all the heavenly bodies to the earth. But as the southern pole, by its great distance, is invisible to us, hence Capricorn is attributed to Kronos (Saturn)

in On the Cave of the Nymphs by Porphyry:

Homer was not satisfied with saying that it had two gates, but adds that one of the gates was turned towards the north, but the other which was more divine, to the south. He also says that the northern gate was pervious to descent, but does not indicate whether this was also the case with the southern gate. For of this, he only says, "It is inaccessible to men, but it is the path of the immortals

You can kinda see the similar gnosis/insight people have to associate Helios with Hecate in that sense if you attribute this oracle line to Hecate like Psellus did.

Porphyry clearly states that the signs from Cancer to Capricorn, which constitute the descent of a soul into a body, are situated in the following order: and the first of these is Leo, which is the house of Helios (the Sun); afterwards Virgo, which is the house of Hermes (Mercury); Libra, the house of Aphrodite (Venus); Scorpius, of Ares (Mars); Sagittarius, of Zeus (Jupiter); and Capricornus, of Kronos (Saturn). “But from Capricorn,” he adds, the ascent is naturally “in an inverse order.” That is, in an inverse order on the opposing curve of the wheel of the zodiac. Aquarius is attributed to Kronos; Pisces, to Zeus; Aries, to Ares; Taurus, to Aphrodite; Gemini, to Hermes; and in the last place Cancer to the Selene (the Moon), only upon the soul’s descent into a body is the sun’s sign (Leo) encountered. This is basically the whole dichotomy of Metatron and Sandalphon, because you get that similar connection between Malkuth/Kether and Enoch/Elijah, what I see personally is this hinting toward merkavah and Hekhalot literature where you descened to the chariot/merkavah. In a way I can definitely say the hints are astrologically coded but the practice itself isn't astrological strictly.

the whole descent into mysteries is in that verse, the curved mass of heaven nor do star shine IS THE LITERAL HEAVEN if you scry them or work through the gates of merkavah. The light of the moon is hidden and earth is not secured because you're reaching a place that's not "here" in the objective sense of the world, everything is seen by flashes of lighting is very apt way to describe how you actually see stuff there! almost very reminiscent of dreamy visions where everything is remembered haphazardly !

In summary the astrological hints are just symbolic not practically invalid but not restrictive into it, since the sun/lion-form is the first thing that come after Saturn in descent and last thing before Moon then you can see the hint THERE. It's not lion, but the sun which when it shine so brightly it will hide the rays of the moon, you can see that the sun is both what we can fall into and we can rise through.

I definitely felt very excited to share my hot take about this oracle line, because it is rather very related to some other blogs that I did work with. Now...dare I say that these lion forms is what Daniel saw in the pit when he got thrown? notice how Daniel immediately start having visions after the lion pits from Daniel 6 to 7, it is an immediate jump.

Time for another round of: Lotte Thinks Too Hard About Elvhen!

So, I've been standing around in the Exalted Plains for days trying to get all the dialogue I want to trigger to happen (while working on commission stuff. It's weirdly soothing. Like those background nature sound tapes, except every now and then there's NPCs chatting or a wolf attacking you.)

Anyway, we get to that talk between Solas and Sera where she makes the comment about "who wants to think about stepping on dead elves?"

Solas mutters in reply, sounding extremely angry/upset: Din elvhen emma him?

And I swear I thought I had read a translation for that on the wiki somewhere? But it said the meaning was unknown. So, I was trying to work it out myself.

Din- death or end or ending

Elvhen- elves (duh)

Emma- doesn't have a solid translation anywhere, but seems to be possessive. 'Your' or 'our' depending on context. Possibly even 'my', since I'm pretty sure 'Emma lath' was 'my love'?

Him- make/making

He sounded so upset, I thought he was saying some kind of insult/threat aimed at Sera. I'm pretty sure the translation I read before was like, "I'll make you a dead elf." (which in retrospect is not his MO at all. Even when he's furious with other companions, he never threatens to hurt them physically.)

I'm pretty sure the loose translation is actually more like:

"Dead elves of my own making?"

As in "How could I not think about them every place we go, when it's my fault that all of them died?"

And just...oh buddy. 🥺

You know, I love DAI. It is possibly my fave comfort game. Top tear. Very replayable. Lose myself for hours in the Hinterlands fighting bears and have a grand old time.

But the inconsistency with Lavellan and their understanding of Elvhen drives me bonkers.

Like, I get that Ancient Elvhen and Modern Elvhen have to be different. It's impossible for them not to be. Even the Elvhen spoken in the Dales would be different from Ancient Elvhen, because hundreds of years + slavery. Lavellan admits during Trespasser that Dalish cannot read Ancient Elvhen.

It makes sense that Solas can understand Modern Elvhen, because he apparently took the time to learn Qunlat at some point, so one would assume that a language derived from your native tongue would be easier. But it does not make sense that Lavellan swings back and forth between understanding Elvhen perfectly and not having a single clue what he's saying at all.

Lavellan understands the entire conversation he has with Wisdom before it dies. And one would assume it was not speaking Modern Elvhen for the sake of the other people there besides Solas, because it could have just as easily chosen to speak Common.

But later, Lavellan does not seem to understand what he and the Nightmare are saying to each other at all. Likewise, they don't seem to notice the discrepancies between what Solas tells Abelas and what Solas says he told Abelas. And they don't understand the random bits of Elvhen he throws at Sera either.

Like, I dunno about you, but if we were just walking along and my buddy just randomly said that he was responsible for all of the dead elves in Thedas...I think I'd pull over for a bit of a chat, yeah??

The Dalish honestly get so little credit for what they have managed to preserve from almost nothing, tbh. It makes sense that Lavellan wouldn't understand everything Solas says in Ancient Elvhen, but they should almost definitely understand more than a single conversation. At the very least, they should be able to know when he's switching to Ancient Elvhen instead of the modern form the Dalish use. And that by itself should be suspicious af.

(and they should absolutely know more than fucking Morrigan, but that's a whole other kettle of fish)

My #1 post of 2022

I am definitely half asleep, which should tell you about the quality level of this post straight out the gate, but i was going through my old saves and watching the romance scenes for my different PTs (as one does) and like...

Everyone else has this slow build up to the Love end of things. Some of them don't even get there until Trespasser (looking @ you Dorian- yes yes he feels it but he doesn't say it.) And that's not a complaint! That's normal! You start with affection and attraction and see where it goes, and lbr all of the DA companions have some...Things to work through before nailing down Big Feelings.

And then we have Solas.

One kiss. One (1) singular kiss, and that man is gone. Lost. Sunk. Out to sea. Lost in the Sauce. Flung into the depths.

And I would argue that he's actually gone before that, but that's when he knows it. And he freaks out because 'oh no oh no this is literally the absolute WORST timing for this to happen holy SHIT.'

And he tries to fight it off, or figure out if there is some like...magical mark-induced reason for why he's absolutely banana-grahams for this mortal woman he has only known the tiniest fraction of his impossibly long life, but there isn't one except that he's lonely as fuck and her genuine awesomeness is just apparently the kryptonite to his rational thinking power.

This man, who is so so careful with the way he says everything always just... Once he caves, it is his first admission. In his native tongue, no less, as though he cannot help himself.

I cannot lose you. I love you. You are my heart. I love you, I love you, I love you.

Back in ye olden fandom days, there was a whole bunch of fights about the sincerity of Solas' affections, since he 'lies' and dumps you, but like...things are a mess because this whole-ass man is a mess and he doesn't do anything that is NOT a mess, but just...fucking hell. He has loved her for so long. He doesn't strike me as love-at-first-sight kinda guy, but like I'm giving him like...a month at Haven tops before he's a goner.

Solas is the one who falls first and hardest out of all of them.

Summery | Robin got an unexpected visitor at her window at 2 AM, asking her to go stargazing.

Content Warning | Robin being a complete simp for y/n, love confession, first kiss

Tap, tap… tap, tap

Robin breathed as she cracked an eye open, turning in her bed and looking out the window, seeing a finger tapping gently with some eyes poking underneath. For a second Robin tensed as she stared as her brain processed what was happening, who was at her window? And was it a murderer just starting to freak her out? She tugged her blankets closer to her chin.

Then the head popped up and Robin recognized the girl and she felt like she could breathe. It was just Y/N.

Then the second thought came to her, why was Y/N here?

Robin’s eyes flicked up to her alarm clock - 1:45 am - she should be asleep, they had work tomorrow. She pulled her covers off and walked over to the window, sliding it open to look at the girl standing outside her window. “It’s almost 2 am, what are you doing here?”

“Want to stargaze?”

Robin blinked at her owlishly, not expecting that coming out of the girl's mouth. Robin and Y/N have gotten quite close since she started working at the video store, she seemed to be on the more impulsive side as she always tells stories of some wild adventure she went on, constantly talking about just going out on drives without a plan of what she would do. Robin loved hearing her tell those stories when it was a slow day and Steve was busy doing inventory or putting tapes away.

When Robin didn’t seem to have an answer, she continued. “I can’t sleep and the stars look really pretty today - or tonight really - and I don’t want to go alone, so you’re the first person who came to mind.”

“We have work in the morning.”

“So?” She shrugs with a grin, “c’mon, it’ll be nice!”

Robin debated it in her head if she should sneak out her window tonight and stargaze with her co-worker at 2 in the morning, knowing she would be exhausted since she had school in 3 hours and her entire shift, she hoped it would be another slow day so she wouldn’t need to use her brain too much cause it was tempting to say yes.

So Robin decided to follow Y/N’s many storys and be impulsive. Just say yes. “Okay,”

The smile on Y/N's face warmed her insides, the excitement seeming to build in the girl as she stepped back from Robin’s window. “Let’s go, Buckley!”

“Alright, alright, let me put on some shoes.”

Robin slipped on some socks and her sneakers, grabbing a large hoodie to keep warm, despite the hot weather of the last bit of summer the night could sometimes still be cold, but she tied it around her waist and climbed out of her window.

Y/N guides Robin through the darkness to her car where she slides into the driver’s seat, Robin settling in the passenger side. Y/N drove them into the night. The soft sound of music drifting out of the radio on low volume. Neither moved to turn it up or down.

Some part of Robin worried the car of Y/N’s car would wake up her parents, but none of the lights came on as she backed up so they had to be in the clear. Robin wouldn’t be in trouble.

Another part of Robin wondered where the girl would be taking her to stargaze? When Robin thought she would stop she continued. She didn’t say a word either as she stared straight ahead at the road.

Robin turns her head to watch Y/N side view, her eyes running over the outline of her profile, the dip from her forehead to the bridge of her nose, all the way to her lips.

Every once in a while she would bite or lick her lips to rehydrate them, a reddish hue developing on them the more she did it.

Robin snapped out of looking at the girl's profile, looking ahead at the road and wringing her hands together for a moment. “Why can’t you sleep?” Robin speaks first.

Y/N glanced over before returning her gaze forward again, shrugging her shoulders. “Brain won't shut up. So I decided to instead stare at my ceiling, stare at the stars instead.”

Some parts of Robin related to the feeling. When her thoughts wouldn’t stop and sleep wouldn’t overcome her. Usually she would do something else in her room, like study some piece of music or work on homework she had left over. Why did she think of her?

so my dumbass fumbled my glass dip pen and broke the tip off. D; ordered 2 new pens, but they haven’t been shipped yet. i wanna write in my journal with colorful ink again. Dx

anyway…at work the coffee company we were working with before opted to leave and we replaced them with a new company and ever since the new peeps started, the more i have realized just how much the burnout and anxiety i’ve been feeling about work has been related to the former crew we were working with bahahaha. i won’t go into details, but the company we were working with before wasn’t managing their coffee shop with us very well (despite the fact that apparently this was their busiest location like…????), the recent baristas just…weren’t great, and my boss and i were constantly having to answer for their bullshit (non-consistent hours, poor service, bad attitudes from baristas, etc).

i legit did not realize how much their fuckery was messing with me until they were gone for good. like a gotdamn weight lifted off my shoulders. i no longer feel so much anxiety about coming into work.

i think what really gets me about the friendship breakup and how it went down and why it is going to be so difficult for me to get over it is because she basically stole my ability to say goodbye.
