★ Bollywood’s 100 crore streak in India: Akshay Kumar plus Shah Rukh Khan plus Ajay Devgn is equal to Salman Khan!
May 2, 2023
On Sunday, Salman Khan’s Eid 2023 release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, entered the Rs. 100 crore club at the box office in India. The film has proved to be the 16th film of Salman Khan to enter the Rs. 100 crore club at the domestic box office, making it the highest ever for an actor in India. What makes this feat even bigger is the fact that Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is the 16th consecutive Rs. 100 crore film for megastar Salman Khan.
Salman’s affair with the Rs. 100 crore club started way back in 2010 with Dabanggand since then it has been no looking back. Dabangg was followed by Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan, Tubelight, Tiger Zinda Hai, Race 3, Bharat, Dabangg 3 and now, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The historic streak will continue with Tiger 3 on Diwali making it 17 in a row for Salman Khan. A person’s stardom is often judged by what his bad films do at the box office and for Salman Khan, the number starts from Rs. 100 crore, speaking volumes about his unparalleled stardom and reach among the masses. There's a struggle for others to reach Rs. 100 crores with good films and here is Salman, whose rejected films have also done Rs. 100 crores at the domestic box office (though we hope, he doesn't take his stardom for granted and does films with better and able directors)
All his contemporaries have had the streak of 100 crore films broken last decade, but Salman Khan is standing tall like a Tiger and ready to roar with more films in the 100-crore club. With 16 back-to-back 100 crore films already, this record will stay unchallenged for years to come by, or who knows, it may just be one of those rare records to stay unchallenged for the coming few decades. None of the contemporaries from today’s time are even close to hitting 16 back-to-back 100 crore films at this point in time, in fact, everyone except for Salman has their streak of 100 crore films broken. And given the way films are being made in today’s time as also actors taking their time to do 1 film a year, this streak will remain unchallenged for at-least 20 more years, and that too subject to someone from the younger lot showing this level of consistency.
This is god-level domination at the box office by Salman Khan as he is competing with no one but himself. There’s no one even close to Salman in the list of consecutive 100 crore films. The second best on the list of consecutive films in the Rs. 100 crore club is Akshay Kumar, with 6 films in a row – Gold, 2.0, Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, and Good Newwz. The streak however stands broken now and he will have to start the count from 0 again. It’s a neck-to-neck battle between Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, who have a streak of delivering 5 back-to-back Rs. 100 crore films – Golmaal Again, Raid, Total Dhamaal, De De Pyaar De, and Tanhaji. However, much like Akshay, even Ajay’s streak is broken and he will have to start it from zero at this point in time to get back and challenge the consecutive 100 crore films. Shah Rukh Khan has 6 consecutive Rs. 100 crore films – Ra One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year and Dilwale. His streak is also broken and he is now standing at with his first Rs. 100 crore film with Pathaan, which is poised to hit 3 by the end of this year. Same for Ranveer Singh who once upon a time delivered 4 back-to-back Rs 100 crore films but now stands at zero.
Aamir Khan has a streak of 4 consecutive Rs. 100 crore films – Dhoom 3, PK, Dangal, and Thugs of Hindostan, which is now broken by Laal Singh Chaddha, followed by Hrithik Roshan, with 3 in a row for Rs. 100 crore films. Which of the aforementioned actors will break Salman Khan’s historic streak? Or will it remain an unchallenged record in the years to come by. Do let us know.

the ratgrinders' potential levels
cannot believe i was right about the xp reqs. the bad kids & the seven get 'special treatment' (milestone leveling and saving the world), while others have to work with xp. which tells you a lot about why people fled during prompocalypse.
ok getting into the algebra now: the rat grinders have gone into the far haven woods every day for the last two years, for 3 hours after school, and 9 hours/day on weekends. presumably they keep this up during the summer.
they have supposedly defeated 80,000 or more of three types of creatures: rats, spiders, and twig blights. there are some variations to what these could be, so here's a list of what this could encompass, assuming the ratgrinders are not facing creatures over CR 1.
giant rat: CR 1/8, 25 XP
swarm of rats: CR 1/4, 50 XP
giant wolf spider: CR 1/8, 25 XP
swarm of spiders: CR 1/2, 100 XP
giant flying spider: CR 1, 200 XP
giant spider: CR 1, 200 XP
ice spider: CR 1, 200 XP
twig blight: CR 1/8, 25 XP
needle blight: CR 1/4, 50 XP
thorn slinger: CR 1/2, 100 XP
vine blight: CR 1/2, 100 XP
razorvine blight: CR 1, 200 XP
thorny: CR 1: 200 XP
the full list is a little difficult to do calculations on, so let's condense it. assume a quarter of the 80000 creatures were CR 1/8, a quarter were CR 1/4, so on and so forth.
how much xp would they earn? how much would they level for the amount they ground? grinded? for?
critical assumption here: in the games i've played, we've always done milestone or zeroed out xp with each level, i.e. after earning 300 xp to get to level 2, you have to earn 900 xp to get to level 3, not 600. this analysis assumes that you have to earn the next levels xp reqs on top of your current total. i'm including the xp chart here to clarify:
level 1: 0 XP, +2, total 0 XP
level 2: 300 XP, +2, total 300 XP
level 3: 900 XP, +2, total 1200 XP
level 4: 2700 XP, +2, total 3900 XP
level 5: 6500 XP, +3, total 10400 XP
level 6: 14000 XP, +3, total 24400 XP
level 7: 23000 XP, +3, total 47400 XP
level 8: 34000 XP, +3, total 81400 XP
level 9: 48000 XP, +4, total 129400 XP
level 10: 64000 XP, +4, total 193400 XP
level 11: 85000 XP, +4, total 278400 XP
level 12: 100000 XP, +4, total 378400 XP
level 13: 120000 XP, +5, total 498400 XP
level 14: 140000 XP, +5, total 638400 XP
level 15: 165000 XP, +5, total 803400 XP
level 16: 195000 XP, +5, total 998400 XP
level 17: 225000 XP, +6, total 1223400 XP
level 18: 265000 XP, +6, total 1488400 XP
level 19: 305000 XP, +6, total 1793400 XP
level 20: 355000 XP, +6, total 2148400 XP
if we went cumulatively, based on the number of creatures the bad kids have defeated, they'd be getting up there in xp. we know they've had opportunities to defeat creatures outside of the quests that we've seen, given the oneshots. thus, i'm going with the second explanation, because otherwise the ratgrinders would be 19th level, and i don't think they are, because it would make any pvp setups super unbalanced, which are neither fun to play nor watch. this puts them on a little more even ground and emphasizes the amount of work it takes to xp grind to level against milestone leveling.
for the CR 1/8s: assuming roughly 20,000 creatures, they'd get 25 XP per, which means 500,000 xp. that's cumulatively enough to get to level 13, on just those creatures. divided 6 ways, assuming the ratgrinders have 6 members, it's 83,333.33, which is enough to get you to 10th level cumulatively and 8th non cumulatively.
this scales up to the 1/4s, 1/2s and the 1s since the xp gains double for each challenge rating rather than plateauing as they do at higher levels.
for the CR 1/4s: 1,000,000 xp. that's cumulatively enough to get to level 16 on just those creatures. divided 6 ways, assuming the ratgrinders have 6 members, it's 166,666.66, which is enough to get you to 15th level cumulatively and 9th non cumulatively.
for the CR 1/2s: 2,000,000 xp. divided 6 ways, assuming the ratgrinders have 6 members, it's 333,333.33, which is enough to get you to 19th level cumulatively, and 11th level non cumulatively.
and for the 1s, 4,000,000 xp. well over what you'd need to get to level 20, on just the CR 1s. divided 6 ways, assuming the ratgrinders have 6 members, it's 666,666.66, which is well over 20th level cumulatively, and 14th level non cumulatively.
using this estimate and adding all of this up, each member of the ratgrinders would have gathered enough xp to be level 20 cumulatively, and level 17 non cumulatively.
obviously the actual numbers would scale differently; initially, they would likely have to tackle these creatures as a party, but over time would take care of them individually. this is a bunch of kids doing the intro to class assignment for every assignment for two years straight.
level 20 seems extreme for the aguefort adventuring academy; let's scale it down a bit. the creatures specifically mentioned are probably giant rats, giant wolf spiders, and twig blights, based on the descriptions from jawbone.
all of these are CR 1/8, or 25 XP each. 80000 would give an xp total of 2,000,000, which would put each of the ratgrinders at around 11th level, a little higher level than the bad kids at the moment. however, since their fighting prowess scaled up, and they're probably going out in elmville and actively hindering the bad kids in some way, that level is very likely to increase.
what we saw in the episode
now the sticking point is mary ann rolling a 35. we know she got some kind of transmutation buff. a little tricky wording from brennan; fabian had enhance ability on, which is a transmutation spell. he did not say it was enhance ability.
mary ann is a barbarian, so she already gets advantage on athletics if she's raging, which i assume she was. the buff probably wouldn't be something that grants advantage.
assuming the lower estimate of 11th level, mary ann would get a +4 proficiency bonus, and i'm assuming she has 20 in strength, so +5 to her strength based skills, for a total of +9. at the high estimate of level 17, she would have a +6 to her proficiency bonus, which would give her a total of +11 to athletics. this is still not high enough to get a 35, even on a nat 20, which brennan would have declared if he had rolled one. she could conceivably accomplish this with the brawny feat, which allows for expertise in the athletics skill, which would give her a +17, meaning she could hit a 35 on a 18.
or, the buff was something like skill empowerment, which is a 5th level transmutation spell that gives the target expertise in a skill that they already have proficiency in. this spell is available to bards and wizards, among other classes, both of which we presume are in the ratgrinders. ruben could have cast skill empowerment on mary ann and given her bardic inspiration (lower estimate: d10, higher estimate: d12), both of which would have enabled that 35.
judging by the implication that she could not accomplish that feat without some kind of buff, i'm going with the latter explanation.
anyway i did too much math for this to not go in the stats series, or the school series. so this will be added to the spreadsheet later.
i hope this is useful.

Zap Kraken
Tumblr media
Image © Turtle Rock Studios
[Sponsored by Soluman Blevins. The second of the Evolve monsters I've done, other than the warpwraith. Mechanically, the Kraken is interesting, but design wise, it's a little drab. Because it's just a Cthulhu. The lightning bolt wings are a cool touch, but otherwise, it's very much a Cthulhu. And in a game that already has Cthulhu and his star-spawn, I wanted to differentiate it a bit. So I tied it to one of my favorite one-shot weirdo monsters from the 3e era.]
Zap Kraken CR 16 CE Aberration This immense creature has a roughly dinosaur-like body and the head of a colossal cephalopod. A vertical maw stretches between its beard of tentacles, and two large jointed appendages grow from its back and crackle with electricity. Its long tail is segmented like the vertebral column of a great beast.
Zap krakens are rare aberrant creatures that use electrical energy for both offense and mobility. Although they are enormous, they fly with surprising grace by manipulating electricity, essentially creating wings of lightning that hold them aloft. They are remarkably stealthy for their size, and can sneak up on prey from above before dropping to melee or merely blasting away with channeled lightning bolts.
Zap krakens are territorial, and maintain their territory by creating banshee mines, so called for the shriek of their explosions. These mines home in on creatures that get too close, and the zap kraken can also visit them to see what it has seen, similar to a prying eyes spell. Although zap krakens typically view other creatures as prey first and foremost, they have a mutual fondness for zeugalaks. Both species have tentacled maws and an affinity for electricity, and sages speculate that they are related to each other. A zap kraken often views zeugalaks the way a nobleman views their prized hunting hounds, using them to flush out prey or occupy melee combatants.
Zap Kraken CR 16 XP 76,800 CE Gargantuan aberration Init +7; Senses blindsense 120 ft., darkvision 60 ft., Perception +17

Ecology Environment warm hills Organization solitary or band (1 plus 1-4 zeugalaks) Treasure standard
Special Abilities Banshee Mines (Su) As a standard action, a zap kraken can create up to three animated mines. Treat these as the eyes generated by the prying eyes spell, only when a creature approaches within 30 feet of them (all creatures or of a type set by the zap kraken on creation), they fly towards that creature and explode. Treat this as a ranged touch attack using the zap kraken’s modifiers (+19 for a typical specimen). If it hits, the creature struck takes 4d6 points of electricity damage and 4d6 points of sonic damage. Whether the mine hits or not, it explodes, dealing this damage in a 5 foot radius (Reflex DC 23 halves). A zap kraken knows when one of its mines has detonated as long as it is within 1 mile of the mine. A zap kraken can create up to nine mines a day, but can have a maximum of three in existence at a time. The save DC is Charisma based. Lightning Strike (Su) As a standard action, a zap kraken can call down a bolt of lightning within 160 feet. It fills a column 60 feet high with a 20 foot radius, dealing 16d8 points of electricity damage to all creatures in the area (Reflex DC 23 halves). A zap kraken can use this ability once every 1d4 rounds. The save DC is Charisma based. Shock Wave (Su) As a standard action, a zap kraken can release an electrical pulse in a 60 foot radius centered on its body. All creatures in the area take 16d4 points of electricity damage and are pushed back 10 feet. A successful DC 27 Reflex save halves the damage and resists the knockback effect. A zap kraken can use this ability every other round. The save DC is Constitution based.  Tentacles (Ex) The tentacles of a zap kraken are treated as a single primary natural weapon

Jikook Week 18 Complete ✔️(09/04-16/04/2024)
Their eighteenth week in the military is now complete. It's time to celebrate this milestone with a look back at this week in 2020.
The world was at the beginning of the COVID pandemic lockdowns and nations across the world were seeing a sharp rise in fatalities from the disease. The US leg of the Map of the Soul tour was on indefinite hold and to fill the gap, on 09/04, BTS announced Bang Bang Con a streaming event of their concerts between 2015 and 2018 to be held on 18th -19th April 2020.
Tumblr media
On 14/04, the one hundredth episode of Run BTS was released. BTS had hired out the whole arena used for the ISAC games (IYKYK hee hee). It was sponsored by and they were all kitted out in FILA.
Tumblr media
As with most BTS big days there was a cake to celebrate. Jimin suggested they cut the cake together (like VIPs) which was a cute idea but didn't quite work so the maknae had to do the honours and promptly got told off by RM for turning his back to the camera. The injustice!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then it was on to team selection. A quiz about previous episodes of Run BTS was held to see who would be the team leader.
Tumblr media
Taehyung wiped the floor with everyone. He really was the Run BTS mastermind. He then got to pick his team - JK, Jin and Jimin. It was rap line (100 jin) against vocal line (seok 100).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The teams have to play badminton with weird rackets.
Tumblr media
All is going well until Suga hits JK's team members twice in a row. The first time it was Jin and the second it was Jimin. At this point JK springs into protective mode and I wouldn't have wanted to be Suga at this point. Check out Hobi's reaction.
Cr. to OP
First round the rapline dominate but the vocal line stage a comeback and take all three games and the match. Man of the Match though has to be J-Hope whose skill with the pot cover was outstanding. The 95 line really enjoyed it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second game was Foot Volleyball. It was the hopeless three moment for 100 jin. Needless to say seok 100 won again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
Finally this week, Boyfriend had Jimin choosing their massage chair over JK's capable hands. Yeah that's believable (heavy sarcasm) 🤣😂🤣😂

i think i’m 100% done with shiftok i was just on there and a… certain big shiftoker was talking about how permashifting is bad and yada yada then there was ppl in the comments saying how permashifting makes it harder to shift and it’s harmful, and unfortunately things like this still get to me so imma speak in it here. most of those people have good lives in their cr, they have friends, nice family, a good stable job, but unfortunately it’s not like that with a lot of us. i’m not gonna go into detail about my cr life but let’s just say some people are going through horrible things in their cr and they can’t escape it physically so they want to permashift and i’m just so tired and annoyed by these shiftokers that don’t even think about that and they’re usually like “it’s a bad influence on the kid shifters y’all are making them want to leave their cr permanently” and this is a very touchy topic cause for me personally i found out about shifting at 15 and it saved my life especially after i found out about permashifting and now i’ll be 19 in a few weeks and i have a clearer mind and i will still be permashifting and i may get hate for this but i don’t really see the huge deal because you could always come back??? and i think if a kid wants to permashift most likely they have a rough home life and want to escape it like obviously i do think people should think about it first but even then it’s not really that deep cause you could just come back to your cr with no time passed… i’m sorry i’m just so confused about all the hate towards permashifting when you could literally come back at anytime. like i genuinely can’t see a kid permashifting for no reason they are probably going through something horrible at home and unfortunately cps doesn’t help a lot of children so they try to help themselves i don’t see a problem with kids permashifting to a better cr where they have a nice loving home life and they’re happy like please tell me if i’m in the wrong for thinking that but just between us i don’t think they really care about “the kids” because most shifters on tiktok are like 16+ i think the anti-permashifters are the people i talked about in my other permashifting post where they think this reality is “superior”. but yea this is my take on it and this kinda sucks cause i really used to like the person i’m talking about and i try to stay open minded with a lot of shifting opinions but i just can’t stand how they’re stuck in their own head they can’t see that not everyone is living with sunshine and rainbows oh and also they liked the comment that said permashifting makes it harder to shift LIKE WHAT 🤦🏽‍♀️ this is what i can’t stand about shifttok they literally made up “shifting blockages” they love criticizing 2020 shifttok but they can’t see that it’s repeating with all this misinformation and close mindedness.

Trauma Team Artbook Character Bio Lore
...As gleaned from running artbook scans from 2014 through a sketchy machine translation in the year 2023. I won't post the exact translations for fear of mistranslations ending up reported as fact on wikis and so on, but here's the gist of what Google Translate yields.
CR-S01
Is named Erhard Muller, a fact that already made the rounds in the 2010s
His nationality is also listed as German, though he clearly spent most of his life in America
Most of his backstory isn't anything new compared to in the games, but the artbook does provide a timeline: adopted by Professor Sartre at age 9 after his parents died, enrolled in medical school at age 12 and hailed as the youngest ever to do so, age 13 when Rosalia was adopted, age 16 when the Cumberland Institute incident happened
Erhard and Rose weren't super close siblings, but got along well enough and they had happy lives until the bioterrorism attacked
The government 100% knew Erhard wasn't the culprit when they arrested him - he was the public scapegoat because they couldn't find Albert Sartre, their real person of interest. They never stopped looking for Sartre, and S01's work to reduce his sentence was a quiet compromise for the fact that they, y'know, ruined this kid's life
After learning the truth, S01 is disappointed at his father's betrayal but also chooses to take blame for Sartre's crimes and work off his sentence rather than expose Sartre as the true culprit
Not in-game lore, but according to the concept art section he was nicknamed Chris (CRS) during development. Other people will be funnier about this than I am
Maria Torres
Has the shortest bio and the least amount of new information along with Tomoe, honestly
Born in the slums
Was already at the orphanage at age 10 when Rosalia (age 3) came there
Ended up in rehab of some kind after the orphanage fire
Hank Freebird
Also doesn't have much new compared to the game, sadly
Joined the military out of a sense of justice, left out of disillusionment following John's death and used the medical knowledge he gained in the military to become an orthopedic surgeon (not that this wasn't already implied in the game)
His bio specifically calls him out for being kinda clumsy/goofy. Poor guy
Tomoe Tachibana
Honestly the only thing that's new is a bunch of names, so this is the one time I break my rule and cite a translation directly. TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, IT'S STILL A MACHINE TRANSLATION
The only daughter of the Tachibana Zaibatsu, a global organization run by a family descended from the leader of the Koga Shinobi Army, Hisayori Tachibana.
Gabriel Cunningham
Nationality is listed as Great Britain. Surprise!
His wife Lisa left him with Joshua and went to her parents' six years before the game because she didn't like his lifestyle
Lisa was willing to get back together if Gabe was ever willing to talk to her properly, but as seen in the game he kept his distance. He and Lisa met occasionally over the next six years, but he never saw Joshua - which is of course why Joshua never recognized him in the game
His decision to go through with the divorce was about acceptance of his failings and a desire to do right by Joshua and Lisa
Naomi Kimishima
NOW WE'RE COOKING WITH BACKSTORY
All right, so that bit in Second Opinion where she took a Savato sample after cutting ties with Delphi and used it to bargain amnesty with Caduceus [Europe in the US version; US in the JP version]? Yeah, apparently she transported that sample by CARRYING IT IN HER OWN BODY for Caduceus to extract
Her fatal condition is a result of that, though it's already implied to be a result of GUILT in the game anyway. It was a sudden development a few years later, followed by Derek's six-month diagnosis
There's also details about her illness! Apparently her specific brand of PGS or whatever involves excess serotonin and dopamine production, which she needs meds to regulate.
It also means she's no longer able to operate on the living, which is why she transitions to forensic medicine as part of her plea deal
[Insert grimace here] I don't want to get too into this because this bit because 1) machine translation fears, 2) even perfectly translated it's not likely to be accurate to actual philosophy/terminology anyway, 3) I'm not a doctor I don't know what I'm talking about…
But the bio then starts talking about pranayama and prana, defining prana as life essence and...saying Naomi lacks it because of her condition and its effect on serotonin? I'm not entirely clear on this and I'm hesitant to say anything for sure; the main thing is that they take her illness and use the concept of prana to connect that to...
Her new ability to hear the dead! Apparently Naomi reads the prana left behind in a corpse and translates it into the person's final words via her phone; the worse the damage to the corpse (e.g., skeletonization), the less prana remains and the weaker the voice she hears is
Whether any of this relates to the Healing Touch is not mentioned. IDK man
Technically this was in S01's bio, but it relates more to Naomi: Jacob Tillman originally wanted Naomi to perform his surgery and keep it secret. Naomi was already unable to perform surgery on living people at that point, though, so S01 was Plan B
Rosalia Rossellini
Admired her big brother Erhard :(
Albert Sartre
Adopted Rosalia to study the virus in her blood (that is, he already knew about it by the time he adopted her in case that's ever a timeline question)
Additional Note
If someone with actual knowledge of Japanese corrects me and anything I've written in here, absolutely believe them over me. I'm not the translation hero anyone still in this fandom in the year 2k23 deserves, I'm just the stopgap until maybe one arrives someday.

post volume 2 byler hope
i know volume 2 has left us feeling very pessimistic and hopeless for the possibility of byler. yet, i do still think there is reason to hope and so i have compiled a list of amazing posts that have definitely increased my faith in s5 byler.
(here is a small disclaimer that even though byler just makes sense to us narratively and overall, there is still a chance that the duffers won’t go through with it. if you choose to have hope regardless, that’s great! but pessimism is absolutely valid too. cautious optimism is definitely recommended)

Just a reminder that CNN and others in MSM took part in the made-for-TV Capitol Hill "insurrection" event. They were let into the building with [D] deep state agent provocateur John Sullivan, filmed it, interviewed him live, then ran the narrative blaming POTUS actual. This is 100% 5th gen war psyop targeting U.S. citizens and POTUS = TREASON

Starfinder to PF1 Conversion: Despondaemon
Another conversion from me, and this time, I'll be looking to Starfinder in order to convert a creature from there. I was quite impressed by the Despondaemon (from the Starfinder AP #45, "The Culling Shadow"), and I thought it could have been an interesting challenge to convert. Besides, it kinda represents a very vexing real-world evil...
Please tell me what you think. I think I might have botched the feats...

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Emotional Empathy (Su) A despondaemon can intuitively read the emotions of those it senses with its blindsight, knowing what emotion the target is experiencing at any given moment. As a result, a despondaemon has a +4 racial bonus on any Sense Motive check.
Harden Exterior (Ex) As a swift action, a despondaemon can harden its exterior, granting it a +2 circumstance bonus on its AC but halving its speed. The despondaemon can end this effect as a swift action.
Psychic Warfare (Su) A creature swallowed by a despondaemon is telepathically assaulted by the daemon, constantly hearing voices that urge her to surrender so that it can feed on her. A creature inside the despondaemon’s gizzard must make a Will save (DC 17) at the start of each turn or become shaken for that round. The save DC is Charisma-based.
A despondaemon is a particularly loathsome kind of daemon that, rather than representing a specific kind of death, is created from the souls of obstructive bureaucrats and incompetent pencil-pushers who prioritized bureaucracy and useless, time-consuming formalities over the well-being of people. In life, they drove well-meaning people to ruination and caused avoidable deaths and suffering with their insistence in following obtuse protocol; now, in their afterlife, they have been transformed in unreasoning beasts, since they refused to use reason and common sense to reach an easier and more compassionate solution to otherwise simple matters. And much like they suffocated people with endless paperwork and pointless consistency, they now literally suffocate their prey in their semisolid bodies.
A despondaemon is a direct combatant. It slowly approaches prey or simply waits for its victims to get close, before surging out of the sand and try to gulp down its prey. Victims swallowed by a despondaemon constantly hear the monster’s telepathic voice, urging them to surrender and let themselves die so that it can feed on them and that “the proper order is kept”. In the dismal wastes and deserts of Abaddon, these creatures mostly feed on petitioners, but they much prefer living and sentient prey. They consider people suffering from depression to be particularly delicious morsels and target them whenever possible, using their strange empathetic senses to single them out.
Despondaemons are made of living sand, and as such don’t have a fixed form, but they usually resemble mounds of sand about 10 feet in diameter and weighing several tons.

Traptrix Allomerus - CR7 Monstrous Humanoid
A creature based on a Yu-Gi-Oh! card of the same name.
Tumblr media
Artwork is official art from Yugioh, copyright Konami.
Traptrix creatures in Yugioh are vicious predatory insects or plants that take the form of attractive young humanoids to lure in humanoid prey as a trick, and trap them. This particular one, the traptrix allomerus, is based on a type of South American ant.
Allomerus ants in real life are microscopic. They burrow inside of plant stems and leaves, then work as a hive colony to move the plant's leaves and grab much larger insects that land on the plant to feed. After trapping and crushing these much larger insects, the ant colony feasts on them.
Adapting this concept to a humanoid monster that can lure adventurers instead of insects, and meld with plants supernaturally, seems perfect for a random encounter the players run into while traveling in some kind of wilderness adventure, whether that's in the feywild or just a fantasy jungle.
I previously released the Traptrix Myrmeleo, which is also from Yugioh.
Traptrix Allomerus - CR 7
The attractive humanoid creature is draped in fine clothing and wearing a large amount of jewelry made of black stone, with precious metals and gems. Tattoos cover the backs of the person's arms and legs. On closer inspection, hidden among the hair ornaments, barbed pincers like those of an ant are coming out of the top of the creature's head like horns.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Infest Plant (Su) Twice per day, as an immediate action when a traptrix allomerus reduces a the hit points of a plant creature within its reach to 0 or lower, or as a standard action while the traptrix allomerus is within reach of a living plant creature with 0 or fewer hit points or a slain plant creature that died within the last round, the traptrix allomerus can infest that plant creature. If the plant creature is still alive, it gains a Fortitude saving throw to negate this effect; if it's dead, it returns to life and gets no save.
A plant creature infested in this way is healed to 50% HP, and its max HP is reduced to that number. It becomes permanently sickened and staggered. It gains a telepathic link with the traptrix allomerus, and is placed under the complete telepathic control of the traptrix allomerus, following the traptrix allomerus's telepathic commands to the best of its ability. This control lasts for 1 day per hit die of the traptrix allomerus (usually 11 days), after which the plant creature dies.
Countertrap (Su) Once per day, as a standard action, a traptrix allomerus can attempt to disable a trap using Disable Device.  If this attempt is successful, the traptrix allomerus can choose to either refill one of its daily uses of the sickening entanglement spell-like ability (if it’s spent), or cast sickening entanglement as a spell-like ability as an immediate action without expending its daily use.
Plant Meld (Su) A traptrix allomerus can meld with any plant large enough for it to fit inside, similar to how the spell meld into stone functions, except that it can see out of the plant and can attack with its vine attacks (see the Plant-Melded Vines ability below). It can remain melded with a plant as long as it wishes.
Plant-Melded Vines (Su) While melded with a plant, a traptrix allomerus gains 2 vine attacks with a 20 ft. reach, and gains the constrict universal monster ability, dealing 1d8 damage on a successful grapple attempt. These vine attacks deal 1d6 damage and can be used to make grapple attempts. As a full-round action, while melded into a plant, the traptrix allomerus can make two grapple attempts against a creature within its reach, one with each vine that isn't already in use.
If the traptrix allomerus succeeds on a grapple attempt with one of its vines against a creature that is already grappled by its other vine, that creature becomes entangled in place and cannot move, and remains so even if the traptrix allomerus releases the grapple and exits the plant. A target entangled in this way can make a CMB or Escape Artist check as a standard action to attempt to free itself on its turn, with a DC equal to the traptrix allomerus's grapple CMB +10 (typically +26).
If the traptrix allomerus entangles a creature with these vine attacks, then releases the grapple and exits the plant it was melded with, thereafter, as a swift action, the traptrix allomerus can command the plant to deal 1d8 constrict damage to the entangled target as if it were still grappled, for as long as the target remains entangled and the traptrix allomerus is within 30 ft. of both the target and the plant.
Sneak Constrict (Ex) When a traptrix allomerus deals constrict damage with its Plant-Melded Vines ability against an opponent that is denied its dexterity bonus to AC or is flanked, including being flanked by the traptrix allomerus on one side and the plant that is entangling and constricting the target with its Plant-Melded Vines on the other side, it can add its sneak attack dice to the constrict damage.
Trapfinding (Ex) A traptrix allomerus adds ½ its hit dice to Perception checks to locate traps and to Disable Device checks.  It can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.  These bonuses are already included in its statistics.
Weed Warded (Ex) A traptrix allomerus is immune to the effects of its own sickening entanglement spell, as well as to the harmful effects of any plant-based spell or effect cast by itself or its allies, and to the harmful effects of natural plants. It ignores all plant-based difficult terrain, even if supernaturally created by an enemy.
Against other plant-based effects caused by enemies, and against attacks by plant creatures, it gains the effect of sanctuary (DC 15). Unless the attacker is a plant creature, this sanctuary effect only wards against plant-based effects; affected enemies may still attack the traptrix allomerus with other attacks even after failing their saving throw against sanctuary.

How popular is RWBY on Crunchyroll?
We all know that view numbers are key when it comes to media. Good or bad ratings doesn't matter THAT much; even bad ratings can get a show renewed if it results in a lot of views.
RWBY V9 is locked behind a Premium CR subscription and needs all the views it can get in order to be greenlit for V10 and beyond.
So how is V9 faring so far; can we figure it out?
Here is some stupid maths because I have a weird interest in statistics.
(Spoiler: I'd say it seems like RWBY is doing pretty good on Crunchyroll, according to this stupid math.)
Some data
On CR there is no way for us to see actual view numbers, but we do have some other numbers to work with and make assumptions off of.
Per August 2021 CR had 5 million paying subscribers. It's fair to assume this number may have grown, since it has only been growing since the start. Number of Crunchyroll subscribers 2012-2021 | Statista
Between January and March 2020 the most watched anime on CR was Attack on Titan. Crunchyroll shares viewership data January through March 2020 | Neon Sakura
If we look at Youtube we can see the amount of views per video, as well as how many likes the video has. I haven't used dislikes in this scenario, but chose videos that fairly surely has way more likes than dislikes. Based on the astounding amount of 8 totally random Youtube videos, ranging from 55000 to 18 000 000 views, there is an average of 6% thumbs up compared to the amount of views. (Side note: None of the videos had more than 8% thumbs up compared to the amount of views, EXCEPT RWBY V1 EP1 which has 15% thumbs up compared to the amount of views.)
This indicates that A) Giving a thumbs up is rather rare and/or B) One person will view the video many times, but can only leave one thumbs up.
Either way, there is way more views than thumbs up, and we'll assume this trend carries over to CR as well.
Calculating episode views on CR
If we look at RWBY volume 9, episode 2, it has 2700 thumbs up per 28th February 2023.
If we assume the same average we found on Youtube is correct for Crunchyroll too, that means 2700/6*100 = at least 45000 views of this episode, since its release on Saturday (that's four days ago).
Episode 1, which released 10 days ago, has 4200 thumbs up. Using the same maths, we can assume the episode has been viewed at least 70 000 times since its release.
Side note, S1 EP1 of RWBY has 3100 thumbs up on CR, which would mean at least 51666 viewings on CR since its release there in 2013. Seeing as this episode of RWBY also aired for free on Youtube and has 16 million views on Youtube, it's a bit hard to compare this episode to anything else using only CR as a source.
Show rating
RWBY as a show has 6200 ratings on CR per 28th February. Being a nerd, I've checked every day since V9 released and observed that the amount of ratings has increased by about 100 every single day (before V9 there were about 4800 ratings or something).
This means more people are watching and rating the show on CR now.
Comparison with other shows on CR
Attack on Titan has 98100 ratings on CR.
In other words, RWBY has about 6% the number of ratings as AOT. No surprise there, RWBY is a freaking webshow that has also been airing for free on other platforms for a long time.
But how much do these show ratings count? We don't know. We must assume that the amount of actual episode viewings are more important.
If we compare episodes then:
S1 EP1 of AOT released in 2013 on Crunchyroll. It has 20 300 thumbs up, which using this stupid math would equal at least 338 333 views. That's about 270 000 more views than V9 EP1 of RWBY. And this AOT episode released 10 years ago. Does it also have 16 million views on other platforms, like RWBY V1 EP1 has? Quite possibly.
Let's compare RWBY to another, newer anime: Trigun stampede. Trigun EP1 aired on January 7th, 2023. EP1 has 1700 thumbs up. That's already far less than RWBY V9 EP1 (which has 4200), despite the fact that the show itself has 12400 ratings compared to RWBYs 6100.
You'd assume a show with more show ratings would have a higher view count than shows with less show ratings. But what does it mean then, when the actual episode has such a big difference in the number of thumbs up?
We can assume some things without knowing for sure: 1) Maybe RWBY fans more often rate both the show AND the episodes (not just the show). 2) Maybe RWBY fans rate single episodes more often than Trigun fans in general. 3) The amount of ratings on RWBY as a show is climbing, which means more people are watching and rating it on CR now that V9 is airing there exclusively. This would include long-term fans who usually watched it on RTs site and thus never left a rating on CR before now. This could indicate that the amount of show ratings for RWBY is artificially small on CR, and will become more realistic as V9 progresses.
Again though, the amount of show ratings might not matter that much compared to actual episode views. 5) I know nothing about Trigun. Or Crunchyroll's statistics...
Conclusion
RWBY is at the very least garnering more views than before on CR, with increasing amount of show ratings, and a good number of thumbs up per episode which can at the very least give us an indication of amount of views according to this stupid math. And compared to a show like Trigun, it actually seems to be getting more views per episode (according to the amount of thumbs up) so...
I'd say it seems like RWBY is doing pretty good on Crunchyroll?
According to this stupid math.
My god I spent so long on this holy fuck why in the actual hell
EDIT: I forgot to add that these numbers EXCLUDES Asia, since they cannot use Crunchyroll (most people don't have a VPN). We have no idea how many people watches RWBY in Asia, but considering it got its own freaking Japanese dub and an original anime... well. A lot. So wherever RWBY V9 will air for Asia, it will boost these numbers significally.

Xiangliu
Tumblr media
Image © deviantArt user YunaXD, accessed at her gallery here
[Sponsored by @coldbloodassassin. The xiangliu appears in Guideways through Mountains and Seas as an individual, Xiangliu, who is the minister of the malevolent water god Gonggong. I did consider making it a native or even extraplanar outsider because of that, but ended up going with aberration to stress its connection to nagas. Not that nagas are very aberrant as far as aberrations go...]
Xiangliu CR 14 NE Aberration This creature is an oversized serpent with nine heads and slime coating its scales. Its heads are disturbingly humanoid, but still bear fangs and forked tongues.
Xianglius are sadistic water serpents that delight in spreading disease and stagnant water. They are native to swampy lands, and fight violently against any attempt to drain such swamps or make them suitable for cultivation. Nearby fields are likely to be subject to their attacks, including flooded crops, summoned clouds of malarial mosquitoes and fouling wells and springs. Xianglius sometimes find allegiances with evil druids, daemons of pestilence and famine, or even gods of water who are hostile to civilization.
A xiangliu rarely hesitates to fight. Their bites are not fully venomous, but carry a foul slime that renders creatures bitten weak and queasy. They can spit jets of water with lethal force, and often split their attacks, biting creatures up close while barraging enemies that are more distant. Fighting a xiangliu is often quite frustrating, as the monsters create moats of mud and water to slow anyone approaching on foot, and can manipulate water to isolate and capsize boats. Wise adventurers approach a xiangliu’s lair from the air.
Despite their nine heads, a xiangliu has only one personality; peevish, cruel and sadistic. They are notorious gluttons; one legend is that they have nine heads in order to eat nine different meals at the same time. A xiangliu grows to about twenty feet long. Their lifespans are measured in centuries.

Mud Wave (Su) As a standard action, a xiangliu can create a burst of mud and water in a twenty foot radius centered on itself. All creatures in the area take 14d6 points of bludgeoning damage and are knocked prone. A DC 25 Reflex save halves the damage and negates the prone effect. The area affected by the mud wave becomes difficult terrain for the next minute. A xiangliu can use this ability three times per day, but must wait 1d4 rounds between uses. The save DC is Charisma based. Multiheaded Reflexes (Ex) A xiangliu gains Combat Reflexes as a bonus feat. It can make as many attacks of opportunity in a round as it has heads. Sickening Slime (Ex) A creature bitten by a xiangliu must succeed a DC 25 Fortitude save or be sickened for 1 round. Failing additional saves increases the duration of the sickened effect by 1 round per save failed. The save DC is Constitution based. Water Jet (Su) A xiangliu can spit water from one of its mouths as a standard action, and up to all nine as a full attack. Treat each water jet as a ranged attack from a projectile weapon with a range increment of 20 feet. Attacks with water jets do not provoke attacks of opportunity. A creature struck by a water jet takes 1d8 points of bludgeoning damage and is exposed to the xiangliu’s push attack.
