Genius idea that just occurred to me: the Old Gods speak in really low infrasound. It's one reason they're so unsettling. It's not a sound you hear, but one you feel. You can feel the pressure in the air when they speak. It's the language of earthquakes and tsunamis. Their voices permeate through the very ground. And when they speak TO you, it's a violation of nature. They are FORCING you to understand them despite your body's normal inability to do so. You can feel their words vibrating your jawbone, you can feel the pressure in your ears, and it hurts, and you shouldn't be able to understand it, but you can. There's an invisible hand squeezing your lungs and you can't take a full breath no matter how hard you try, but it's not a hand, it's speech, and you can understand it. Oh gods why can you understand it.

Okay so. Casting magic takes energy, bc this is an angsty au

The bigger-more complex-more powerful the spell is, the more energy it takes. The most powerful spells can take as much energy as in multiple human lives. There’s legends of spells cast during wars or battles that fell entire armies at once purely just by being cast

NORMALLY, when casting a spell, the magic comes from the world/plant life/living things around the caster

A curse is a kind of Forbidden Magic that can span generations. If one casts a curse that the cursed one will never quench their thirst, or they will never have enough sleep (simple curses for example), the curse could be passed down to their children, sometimes for multiple generations

A curse is ALSO a kind of spell that goes out of its way to deliberately alter the future and continues to- it’s basically a spell that’s constantly working when most spells are more like they last for a few seconds or maybe a minute or two then they’re done and the magic is used up and gone

So if you’re cursed to never feel warmth, there’s magic around you or in you that is constantly sapping the warmth from you or putting chills into you. You can’t see it, but it’s always there, even if just in small amounts

So when a curse is cast, it takes a lot of energy. Like, multiple human lives’ worth

There are ways to circumvent the possibility of killing the people around you (or yourself), like having some animals recently sacrificed, which is the most commonly heard of version

But. Sometimes, very rarely. One might cast a curse on a whim, without planning on it or really considering the series of events leading up to it or following

Cursed AU Reader did that once. Cursed someone in a fit of rage or passion

They were standing in a field, ready for a harvest festival, at the time

The fields withered and died and it’ll take years for them to get back to being fit enough to grow anything in

The mark of a cursed witch, which is a sign from Wiccan culture meant for containing(?), basically keeps the Marked Person from taking any magic from the world around them

The only energy they can use is the energy their physical body contains- and if they use too much or too frequently, they’ll kill themselves in the process

Basically it’s a way of making sure the caster can never use enough magic to really do much of anything sjdgdhdhd

Agent of Chaos AU lineup Pt 2: Court of The Red Crown (Pt 1)

I've gotten a few asks about Nari and what his cult looks like in this AU so here is another lore and character post!! I have changed a lot about Nari's cult and domain for this au so I hope yall think it's interesting!

Narinder's domain is life and death but he himself is the God of Judgment. When a person (creature?) dies, their soul/whatever you wanna call it joins Nari in the afterlife. Once a soul has entered his domain, he judges what life they lead and how their future in the afterlife will be like. Will they be reincarnated? Tortured? Pampered? It all depends on how Narinder chooses to judge someone... And it strongly depends how he's feeling that day...

Narinder's cult is a melting post of the souls from dead followers all across the old faith. And Nari does get very pissed when his siblings decided to randomly resurrect followers without telling him. Or when mass amounts of followers from the same cult die, then he gives his siblings an earful about how bad of a job they are doing.

Aym and Baal pretty much have the same backstory as in the canon. They were gifted to Nari and are his right and left hand cats who are like sons to Nari (Not that he would ever admit that! He's too proud to admit he has genuine love for these two kits).

The Fox is in fact a follower of Nari and it is Fox's job to collect the souls of the dead and bring them to Nari. Thats all I can really say about Fox rn.

There are cults in the living world who worship Narinder. There are shrines made for the god of death and rituals similar to how ancient Egyptians burring people with items, food, money, and basically here these funeral rituals are meant to have the dead come to the afterlife with these items as offerings for the god in exchange for a better afterlife.

I hope all of this makes sense! Apologies if this is all disjointed ramblings!

Edit: Forgot the mention this but Leshy bit Nari's arm off during the big fight™️ and it can't regenerate back. In this Au only gods can permanently damage other gods, if a mortal chopped off Nari's arm would grow back in seconds, but since it was Leshy, god of chaos, that arm is gone...

Abigail is really sweet, I promise.

Anyways, here are the Koopa Kids (not to be confused with the koopalings) they stole Luigi while he was on his way to a date. Trying to figure out what to do with him.

I decided that they were the first pass at Bowser trying to create Bowser Jr, but it ended up with three Koopalings with different inherited traits.

Sorin is the strongest and developed rougher scales, Abigail is the most heat resistant and is able to withstand high temperatures, and last but not least Storm has the ability to "breathe" lightning.

Bowser decided to neglect them once he realized they were "failed" attempts and a year later ended up on his attachment to the new eggs and hatchlings (well known as the Koopalings)

Kamek ends up raising the trio in the shadows, mostly keeping them out of sight and mind while Bowser is ruling and conquering.

They left at the age of 16 and mainly traveled between kingdoms by staying along seas, rivers, or oceans. And to travel to different islands will plan days before swimming there

YES, they swim for DAYS from island to island. They don't get royal treatment or really care to make modes of transportation (boat, clown car, airship,etc.)

Their relation to Luigi can be summed up as the 'awkward stepdad' vibes. They don't dislike him, sorta, but don't really know what to do with him.

Bowser Jr. is created two years after Larry, in MY AU.

I want to stress this, this is an AU and my interpretation of the characters (canon or OCS). They aren't to be taken as canon and are in no way a reflection of my morals.

ISTG if someone types abt Bowser not being "like this or that", I will delete it. These are interpretation and are an alternate universe for a reason.

Honest question. For the cryptid AU have there been moments were Roach hasn't gone completely feral in His full cryptid form?

So!! When he's in a full cryptid form he struggles because his mind is largely more animalistic and confused.

If he's shifted into a predator based animal he can be more dangerous because he'll be more aggressive in his defense. When more prey based he just has a habit of bolting off but can lash out if cornered.

If he fully shifts by choice he'll be significantly more relaxed in his animal form, the problem is he normally changes under great stress so right off the bat his animal form feels fear and danger.

He will occasionally have more conscious moments where his human side comes through but it's hard to hold onto. He does seem to retain some sense of relationships because when he's not stressed he'll gravitate towards ghost, soap, price and Gaz for safety.

In my AU, one of the major aesthetic tweaks I make to the kaldorei is remove a lot of the metal in their armor and replace it with leather, fur, and cloth. They still use metal of course, but for a people who cares so much about and is presumably very knowledgeable about the environment, they'd know mining all that metal is super unsustainable and damaging. Also leather and fur and cloth is easier to move and sneak around in.

With that said, I wanted to do a bit of a redesign for Maiev Shadowsong my beloved. I didn't want to touch her overall silhouette, because that shit is Iconic As Hell, but I replaced the heavy plate with more flexible samurai-type armor. There's already some Japanese/Korean/general SE Asian aesthetic influence in canon, so I wanted to draw on that. Not so much the (fantastical) Viking aesthetic I usually lean into, but I threw some of that in as well (e.g. the winnigas wrapping on her legs).

This isn't a "final draft" of her redesign, moreso a proof-of-concept for myself. So there'll be changes, as with all character designs lol

Glamrock Foxy and his Crew

While I don't think I'll have anything with Foxy for my Glamrock Kids- multiplayer au thing, I do have ideas for him.

TLDR: Cap'n Foxy served as the Pizzaplex's unofficial babysitter before the Superstar Daycare was built. Between this and his increasingly popular theater show (Cap'n Foxy's Pirate Adventure), it was decided he would be given two additional crewmates, Bangle and Bitty.

Serving as an extra pair of eyes and ears for Foxy, they help out in the theater show as well as fulfill duties the other animatronics are too large for, such as finding lost kids or helping run scavenger hunts across the Pizzaplex.

The Chaos Twins also live up to their Pirate heritage (much to everyone's chragrin) and have particularly sticky fingers.

COMMISSIONS OPEN

I choose to believe that Cap'n Foxy is normally a part of the pizzaplex, but during the events of the game was temporarily moved to a separate location to run shows there.

Cap'n Foxy is in charge of Pirate's Cove in addition to the Pirate Adventure Show.

The Pirate Adventure show's served as entertainment between the Glamrock concerts as well as a draw in for the older audience

shows ranged from thrilling acrobatics feats to comedic high sea adventures

these occasionally would have guest stars, most commonly Monty (this slowed down when he became an official Glamrock as opposed to the understudy)

there was a running joke where Foxy would accuse Monty of eating his hand and Monty would deny it with increasingly absurd alibis

he'd also assist Chica in her water show (Chica of the Sea) before that was shut down, serving as the villain

his hook can be exchanged for a hidden foldable sword hidden in back behind his coat in addition to a regular sword for his hand

he has two functioning eyes, tho the right one is typically only after flash photography (allowing him a quicker recovery time)

despite him being an older model, he is the fastest of the animatronics (excluding perhaps Bonnie)

before the Superstar Daycare was built, Pirates Cove was where parents would leave their younger kids for the day

likes puzzles- has a small stash hidden in his "room" in Pirate's Cove that he'll break out on occasion

HATES Parts and Service with a burning passion

it got to the point where he learned how to repair himself (and the others to a limited extent) just so he didn't have to go

with his increased popularity (and increased children being dropped off at Pirate's Cove, it was decided that Foxy was to be given "crewmates"

no one consulted him on this- Bangle and Bitty were just presented to him one weekend

Bangle and Bitty serve as Foxy's extra eyes in Pirate's Cove in addition to being his assistants in addition to being genia pigs for potential upgrades in the other animatronics

their smaller size allows them to access hiding places kids like to stow away in*

they also can be sent through out the pizzaplex to help out with the other attractions (Fazzerblast, Raceway, Gator Golf, etc) when they get overcrowded with guests

this requires a costume change per area

however, they have a programming bug: the only person (human or animatronic) they have to listen to is Foxy himself. Foxy thinks this is hilarious

Bangle

the unoffical "bard" of the group, Bangle is the one to provide the extra dramatic music in the middle of a show** when necessary

they can connect their instruments to a small speaker in their chest cavity

their voice box has the most range of vocals (prototype to Chica's), allowing them to fill different roles for the show as well, though they commonly work as Bitty's straight man

this has led to some confusion with guests as to whether or not they are supposed to be a male or a female (the answer is Yes.)

their joints have a unique locking system

any part of their body can be easily removed or reinstalled when unlocked (when locked they are slight less sturdy than a typical endo's joints but serve their purpose)

they can connect to them wirelessly and still have (limited) control

has a running gag on the show of "falling apart" particularly when they are stressed out or worried

occasionally takes off head and makes fun of shakespeare

is not fond of toddlers or infants

outside of shows, is given free roam of the Pizzaplex as a rule (so long as Pirate's Cove isn't too busy)

LOVES photobombing guest's pictures with Bitty

Left eye had to be replaced early on after they lost it mid-show (crashed a touch too hard into the stage set). That eye is far more sensitve to light, being designed for btter night vision

Bitty

smallest of all the animatronics in the Pizzplex (excluding Mini Musicman and perhaps Helpy if he counts)

they work with Bangle to bring the kids upstage and get them involved

Bitty rarely speaks of their own accord

typically they express themselves through sound effects projected from their chest speaker

Additionally, they can connect to the pizzaplex intercom system and have a microphone that allows stead or security to make impromptu announcements wherever they are out

through this they can make fake impromptu announcements through out the pizzaplex in any of the other Animatronic’s voices

eyes were upgraded to have better night vision and depth perception after crashing into Bangle too many times on a landing during Pirate Adventure's dimmer lit shows. (these were the prototypes for Roxy's eyes)

increases light sensitivity BUT their aim and accuracy has never been better

thinks Roxy is cool and so regularly steals her makeup

the pirate obsessed with treasure, Bitty has a bad habit of stealing things from both their fellow animatronics and the staff

they have hidey-holes across the pizzaplex crammed to the brim with stuff ranging from anywhere to staff badges to Freddy's top hat to enormous bags of Faz tokens

fond of riddles, if answered correctly they give out prizes (usually a large bag of faztokens but if a guest gives a particularly clever/funny answer they'll give them rarer items)

omg lore time!! >:))) so uhh basically Zompea was blown up by a chili bean, and while in a disoriented state, ran away and got lost. most of the plants that were there remember the chili bean ricocheting everywhere and back at him, but know one actually saw who it came from (spoilers it was the one with the freckles, who did it on accident, no he is NOT ok ^U^) anywho, Zompea ran away, they past out, and was found by zombies, who nursed him back to health (Zomboss is so gonna use him 4 evil hehehehe) the explosion also kinda changed his brain chemistry a bit too, to where it altered his personality slightly, and made them disinterested in plant food xrdfgkjnhbvtrdertfyglknbvcrt I may or may not change everything ltr idk >_< also Zompea will just be a placeholder name for my oc Zompea is prolly gonna be the name of the au tho so :P

Agent of Chaos AU lineup Pt 2: Court of The Red Crown (Pt 2)

Alrighty the second half of Nari’s court is done!

Witness Lambert is Narinder’s most loyal follower (next to Aym and Ball of course). Lambert is the leader of a Red Crown cult in the living world and is the only mortal who can travel between the living and afterlife. In this AU the sheep primarily follow Nari.

Forneus has stayed pretty much the same. There aren’t really any notable changes.

Ratau is also mostly the same as well.

And I just wanted to draw what follower souls looked like in the afterlife so yeah! Not a whole lot of lore for this one...

Selkies are naturally quite cuddly, living in such cold climates and being social creatures and all,

The want to be held is still there, even if now you have scales and spines instead of fur and plush, heavy coat. At first you’re skittish, shrinking away from others’ touch, barely allowing Eclipse to apply bandages to the gouges and scars now decorating your ugly, foreign skin. You’re afraid, afraid of being hurt again and afraid of being seen as a beast, a blood thirsty monstrosity.

But over time the fear fades, shrinks a little. You’re nervous, anxious, and you feel so helpless and lonely... But with time, you start to feel a little safer- but only around one person. And you want him to know that you’re not scared of him anymore, that you trust him, but some part of you is still nervous.

But one quiet evening on the wide open sea, you can tell that your someone is lonely. You’re not good with words yet, can barely speak a handful of words in his language, but there is another way to communicate your thoughts, those strange and confusing feelings, to him, isn’t there?
