I’m your Inu Yasha Secret Santa! I hope you like it!

The peaceful quiet of the meadow around the Sacred Well was disrupted once again by the grumblings of an annoyed inu hanyou and the miko from the future. 

“I thought ya were goin back to slay some more of those tesuto things at your school! What’re ya doin with all these—these things!” Inu Yasha finished. He placed the miko down on her feet and hefted the bag of ‘stuff’ over his shoulder as Kagome wrapper her scarf a but more tightly around her. 

The sun was heading towards the horizon and the air was chill, but for once, his miko was dressed appropriately. Pants covered her legs and she was wearing a jacket for once. Even so, she was still lovely.

She blinked at him curiously, then smiled. “Oh! That’s right!” She gave a soft giggle that made him blush, although Kagome didn’t notice. “I forgot that you don’t really remember Christmas since its really something from my time. I’m sorry, Inu Yasha; I should’ve remembered.” 

The two of them walked towards the village as Kagome mentioned that she had bought a few presents for her friends. Inu Yasha grumped a bit, making his usual “keh” and "feh” noises as he pretended to be uninterested. He and Kagome were met on the way by Sango and Kirara, flying around on patrol. 

At Kaede’s hut, Kagome took out the presents she had purchased, some tape, and wrapping paper and began to wrap them. Inu Yasha helped by sticking his thumb on the colored strings Kagome used so she could tie a bow, and surprisingly, Miroku tried to help with the tape.

Kirara, now transformed to her smaller size, was fascinated by the wrapping paper and attacked it with vigor! Sango and Kagome giggled and tossed her some crumpled balls to attack. The nekomata chased one or two around the room, pouncing as necessary!

“Kagome-dono,” Miroku called, staring at the round object in his hand, “what all does this ‘tape’ do?” Miroku stared intensely at his right hand and quickly attached some tape to his glove, then wrapped it around his covered right arm. After 3 or 4 times around, the tape got stuck to itself, and Kagome had to cut the tape before Miroku got both his hands stuck. 

With a giggle, Kagome explained, “We use tape for all kinds of things, Miroku-san. As you can see, its good for attaching things together but is also easy to cut apart.” Kagome paused in her wrapping as Kirara walked on top of a piece of her wrapping paper laid out on the floor for a present and settled down for a nap. 

Inu Yasha glanced over, pulling the roll of tape from Miroku’s hand and examining it more closely. The two of them pulled some tape out and started attaching it to various pieces of cloth and then began shoving each other a bit.

“I think you’ve had enough time with the tape, my friend. I’d like to try some more—“ the monk began. He reached for the tape, but Inu Yasha held it out of reach.

“I’m still using it, bouzo!” the inu hanyou replied.

The two of them kept arguing — “back off!” “Be careful!” “You’re using too much!” “You’re not using it right!” — until Sango finally stood up, grabbed the tape and skillfully wrapped it around their wrists, like modern handcuffs. 

With a satisfied smile, Sango sat and handed an astonished Kagome the tape. “Here you go, Kagome-chan.” 

Kagome looked from the tape to the annoyed monk and hanyou duo and then stifled a laugh as she used the tape to finish off her last gift. “There! All done!” With a soft smile, she looked at Sango and said, “If you could have anything for Christmas as a present, what would it be?”

Sango’s deep chocolate eyes turned inward and she stroked Kirara’s fur for a moment or two. “I think I’d just like some more of that sham-poo and soap you usually have. It’s so refreshing!”

“Oh! That’s easy, Sango-chan. I’m really excited about the gifts I got for my friends, too. We were going to do a secret santa, but as it turned out, I had enough to buy them each a present, so it wasn’t so bad.”

The two women chuckled as Kirara suddenly bounded up and attacked some paper that was obviously up to no good. “What’s a secret santa, Kagome-chan?” Sango picked up some of the pretty ribbon and waved it softly in front of Kirara, both women studiously ignoring the men who were now nearly tangled up after challenging each other to a ‘tape off.'

“Oh! In a secret santa, everyone gets the name of one person in secret and they buy a gift for them. Sometimes, the gifts are from the heart and sometimes, they are more like joke or funny gifts. This year we chose gifts from the heart! Tomorrow morning before we head out, Inu Yasha and I are going to drop the gifts back in my time. That way, my friends can pick them up in case we’re busy.”  

With a little squeal, Kagome pulled out a package from her backpack and introduced Sango to the little packages of deliciousness. “I forgot to tell you! I brought some hot chocolate packets. These have tiny marshmallows in them.” 

Kaede smiled as she heated up some water. “I’m looking forward to this type, Kagome-chan. The dark hot chocolate you brought last time was quite delicious.” The silence was interrupted by the muffled sounds of miroku and Inu Yasha grunting and snarking at each other. The women tried to control their eye-rolling but it was difficult to do anything but as two ‘adults’ became embroiled in tape. 

After the water was ready, Kagome, Kaede, and Sango sipped joyfully at the hot chocolate, giving out contented ‘ahhs’ as they reached chocolate nirvana. Full of trepidation, Kagome turned to look at Miroku and Inu Yasha, who had both grown silent. 

Miroku’s other hand was taped to his head and Inu Yasha was using his fangs to cut through the tape that crossed his face and smooshed down one of his ears. Sango stood abruptly, giggling like mad and running for the door. Huge bursts of laughter reverberated back inside even as Kagome doubled over in laughter. 

“S’not funny,” Inu Yasha grumbled as he gnawed through another weird bit of tape. Kirara wandered over and playfully batted at both Miroku and Inu Yasha, pouncing on the monk whose one hand was taped behind his head. The adorable nekomata settled into his lap and closed her ears to their mutterings. 

“You could help,” Inu Yasha grumbled at the nekomata, eyeing her claws and fangs. He was unsurprised when she gently trilled back. Miroku traded glances with his fellow tapee and continued to unravel himself. He was still trailing tape when a giggling Kagome handed him some hot chocolate, then kneeled behind Inu Yasha to help him untape his ears. 

Miroku shook his head as Inu Yasha gave an unconscious happy wiggle when Kagome softly stroked his ears. Her lilting voice was soft, but the houshi heard her ask, “All better now?”

He grinned behind his cup of hot chocolate and discreetly hid the tape in his robes. He might need it later. 

He smiled and carefully rubbed Sango’s bottom. “Heaven!” he opined before her boomerang came crashing down on his head.

Inuyasha X Priestess! Reader

So in this I'm exaggerating Kagome's behavior in this, I do ship Kagome with Inuyasha. Occasionally with Koga, but mostly because I find Ayame somewhat annoying personally. I could rant about it but for the Ayame fans I'm not going to, like I don't hate her but I did want to see her humbled a bit so that she'd pull back her obsessive behavior just a bit.

(Y/n) sighed as she walked with the group of misfits she called friends, the 18-year-old had been a reincarnation similar to Kagome. Only (Y/n) was a healer, and rather than a well she had fallen through the floor of an old shrine high up in the mountain. The bicolor haired girl had hated her life in her era, her life having been less than ideal. With her hair being 2 colors, (H/C1) on the left and (H/C2) on the right. It often drew unwanted attention, what made it worse was her dual-colored eyes. (E/C1) on the left and (E/C2) on the right. She had always been teased by the younger generation and out casted, the older generation treated he as if she was ill or a demon. So, she had ran away at the age of 16, the dual toned girl going high into the mountains when a storm hit. She took shelter in a shrine but fell through a large hole, even if she wanted to go back through the shrine she couldn't as the one in the feudal era had been destroyed by Naraku.

She has passed through the well before to go get Kagome, and she was able to do so through the sheer power of her soul unlike Kagome who needed at least a shard of the jewel. But she usually preferred staying behind with Inuyasha and the others, she had gotten the garb of a priestess from a priestess in the village at the base of the mountain when she came stumbling down bruised and dirty from the fall and the subsequent wandering around the mountainside the shrine had been on, on day one of being there. Deciding that she wanted to try and at least blend in a little, plus the outfit was rather comfortable. She had spent a lot of time with Inuyasha as of late, he and Kagome had been fighting a lot recently and most of her anger was unreasonable in (Y/n)'s eyes. She and the half demon had grown close, both able to understand each other's pain. (Y/n) also understood how fresh his grief and heart break was, in his mind it had only been at most a few months since he was "betrayed". He had truly loved Kikyo, the pain of their fight worsened by learning the truth behind that day and Kikyo's resurrection. Kagome's pressure only making things worse for Inuyasha, it was as if the girl thought they had an unspoken relationship.

When the group finally made it to Kaede's village, she watched Kagome ride with Sango and Miroku on Kirara's back towards the well. Leaving her to walk with Inuyasha to Kaede's hut. "Hey (Y/n), come with me." Inuyasha began walking towards the woods, the girl quietly following as she figured he wanted to talk about his fight with Kagome. She always had to try and explain things to him, what made it hard was a lot of Kagome's actions could be immature and hard to rationalize to the male. So, after the attempt to explain things is made the two usually said screw it and just had a drink, it being the feudal era no one cared as she was considered plenty old enough.

So, the girl had no problem dipping into the barrel, Inuyasha didn't care one way or the other. They got to their usual spot by the river, Inuyasha moving a rock to reveal a small barrel of sake and 2 cups hidden beneath it in a hole. She could tell by the look on his face that he was in deep thought, so she remained silent and went to her place by the river. It was a large smooth rock, where she would be able to dangle her feet over the edge and her toes would barely touch the water. Not being a true priestess, she was not bound by their rules, really it was just a guise she used. Her abilities were similar to that of a priestess, so it was really the best option to keep people from questioning her.

She lowered her feet into the water, closing her eyes and listening as Inuyasha moved beside her and set the small barrel between them. "So, what did you want to talk about?" She spoke softly and dipped her small sake glass into the barrel, Inuyasha had stayed quiet as he slowly sipped down his glass. "Kagome has just been driving me crazy, I'm starting to think her looking like Kikyo may have been the only thing that truly brought me to her. I was still grieving for Kikyo, and Kagome was someone I had to be around because she broke the sacred jewel, and she could sense it... I think I only loved her out of necessity and heartache, but now that everything's over though..."

He stared deeply at the water, (Y/n) quietly listening to him as she nodded. "It's understandable, somethings aren't meant to be. I mean you two aren't even actually together, you've just done this weird crap since the beginning." She sipped her drink as Inuyasha nodded, sipping at his own before he looked at her. "You know, I don't think I've ever seen you take an interest in anyone since you joined us." Now that made her cheeks heat up, she was quick to down her drink and refill. "There was one guy, but he never once looked at me the way I did him... But he has girl troubles of his own even without me." She hadn't been lying, she had always had an interest in him but between Kikyo and Kagome she never felt there would be room for her in his heart. She knew a part of him at least cared deeply for Kagome, after all she had helped him move on from Kikyo and helped to soften his rough personality.

"I see... It must be painful loving someone who doesn't return it... At first when Kikyo was resurrected, she hated me, it tore me up cause I loved her so much. I guess that's why your smile hasn't been the same for a while... Right?" His words took her by surprise, she never realized anyone had noticed. (Y/n) hadn't been herself for a while, she hated watching Inuyasha and Kagome fight only for him to seek her out for comfort and return to Kagome the moment she was willing to let him back in. With a sigh she chugged down her drink, her cheeks now red from alcohol rather than embarrassment. "Yeah... I just... I love him a lot but... I'm not even sure if I'm really his friend or someone he uses to soothe himself when he's hurt... " Her chest tightened as her eyes welled with tears, she could feel his golden orbs locked on her form.

"Is it Koga!? Just say the word and kill that mangey flea bag!" She was shocked by his words, her small hands wiping her tears away as she shook her head. "No but it's fine, it doesn't matter I'l-" Her sentence was cut short as Inuyasha pinned her down, hands on either side of her head. His claws dug into the dirt as he stared down at her in an intense gaze, anger on his features. "Don't you dare say that! It does matter! He's hurting you and I won't let that happen! I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, you hear me!?" His reddened face was inches from hers, the temptation was so overwhelming that before she knew it her lips were attached to his. He was quick to return the kiss, he was harsh and feverish. The kiss deepening as little fingers tangled in snow white hair, when the kiss broke, they were left breathless, and the half demon rested his forehead against hers.

"I love you (Y/n), for so long I tried to learn to love Kagome, but it always felt like I was with her cause I had to be... But then you came a long and I couldn't help but to love you from the start. That's why it matters, because you matter." The girl felt her heart swell as she kissed him once more, neither noticing the schoolgirl quietly walking away from the scene.

The age-old question: Is Kokichi the villain?

Ves: this one whiplashes back and forth from objectively correct to SO SO WRONG so much idk how to feel

Me: well, they're right on their main point and simplified some things to get there and at the end he's an anti-hero, not a villain

Ves: i get being frustrated with woobfication but acting like the cast NEVER treated him unfairly is. UHHHHH Kokichi Is An Asshole, But! - my thesis statement also "bragging about how he got two people killed without a hint of genuine remorse" not a HINT!? NOTHING?? YOU CAN'T REMEMBER A SINGLE THING FROM THAT POSTTRIAL THAT SEEMED REMORSEFUL TO YOU!? 'start looking at him as a villain instead of a clueless victim' this is NOT a zero sum game both of those options r wrong

Me: they treated him Like That before he earned it and in his speech at the end of the 4th trial there's a portion when he says he's just stepping up to what's expected from him

Ves: NO LITERALLYYY THE SCENE IN THE DEATH ROAD LIKE….

Me: he was asking to be executed too, but sure, no remorse

Ves: what are we defining as remorse?? because that seems like literally the most remorseful a person could get to me oohhh i forgot remorse can mean REGRET yeah he's not very regretful neither is gonta! they're both crushed w guilt but that's not the same i guess

Me: the whole. everyone believing him when the lies fit what they want to see. bullshit he's a liar until he's saying he's evil, until he's taking something back, because surely he wouldn't lie about lying without saying the catchphrase

Ves: yeag like,,,when it's 'half my lies are told with good intentions' and 'i'm just trying to give gonta good advice, he'll get killed being so naive' and 'monokuma is going to make you suffer for cooperation like he did kaede' and so on and so on…. that's DEFINITELY a lie guys

Me: he left room to be seen through, he gave hints, he gave so many opportunities for them to get it, that he can't be doing it openly, but they went in with pre-packaged distrust specifically for him I love the theory that Tsumugi had them brainwashed to be opposed to him as a default to push him into his role

Ves: you're right but i wouldn't even describe it as HINTS, he has TWO SEPARATE MONOLOGUES about the danger of public cooperation that honestly monokuma should've clocked [sob emoji] but that's getting more into danganronpa writing than kokichi's morals i love giving him stuff that makes them inherently unnerved by him from the beginning

Me: this is also related to how much of "script" I believe there was for the game, I think they were given cues for how they're supposed to feel, little unconscious suggestions, a vague outline set with motives, nothing actually set in stone, the flashback making machine wouldn't need multiple options if there was a whole defined script that's expected to be executed to a t

Ves: i always thought tsumugi's claim that everything was scripted didn't. make sense. but i can never really feel out how much of it was

Me: she gave them roles, and then left them to improvise, she also has a lot of lines that cue you in on what she wants you to think of other characters, she wouldn't need to be doing that if she already controlled what you thought of them, but she's checking in, if you'll agree

Ves: truuuuee the way she talks about gonta always makes me shudder and the way she talks about kokichi always makes me giggle SNDJBHSHF she's sooo bitchy about him i love her

Me: she wants to shoehorn him into being a classic antagonist so bad and he just doesn't fit, like, I could swear she makes a reference to Nagito at least once when talking about him

Ves: THE WAY SHE TALKS ABT RANTAROU FITS THAT REALLY WELL TOO she KEEPS bringing up him being the fanservice character a playboy and he keeps shooting her down

Me: She fucking hates Rantaro and it's so funny, what did he dooo that finally puts her calling him a normie in a context, he ruined a cliché she was trying to pull, that's punishable by death

Ves: it's like when she yells at shuuichi in the FTEs for trying to say she isn't plain

Sini: I will say this, even though he did in fact show remorse in that instance I can’t blame the others for still being bitchy and pissed with him. Even if he had a good reason, which he did, what he did was still majorly fucked up. He was an asshole throughout the whole trial, an asshole to Gonta until that one moment, and then led him to his brutal death. I’m not saying how they treated him at that moment was good, but they aren’t really going to be thinking too rationally after all that. Ig one thing you could say is that they tend to not treat other culprits like Kirumi that way, but in that case I’d say they should’ve overall had written the characters reactions post trial or what not differently in general

Ves: oh no i absolutely think how the characters treat kokichi after ch4 is justified. i just think the op's casual dismissal is. UHHHH shoulda specified i was talking abt them and not the cast, sorry! kokichi was absolutely an asshole and deserved to get treated like one, but i think op fell too in line with the characters

Me: it was a situation where everyone sucked, nobody ever could begin to be equipped to deal with this shit, and so, nobody handled it well the end of the world was involved

Sini: Yeah, like, he’s a liar. Everyone only assumed he must be lying when trying to be helpful or didn’t mean well when he was spitting straight facts. No one bothered to listen to him. I get he’s an asshole, but fuck man, they cozied up to Maki. Wth is her excuse?

Ves: maki is the wall i always run into here maki is just as mean as he is and FARRR more dangerous but. her being an assassin was added later than her being a waifu

Mauri: i love maki. but in canon why the fuck did everyone love her she choked him out after he revealed that she was a fucking TRAINED KILLER and no one was worried abt that ??? kodaka dont make every single female character waifu bait challenge (almost impossible bc miu my love my life)

Ves: they literally cut to the next day when they're all looking through her lab and not ONCE do they comment on how that debacle…ended. DID ANYONE HELP HIM???

Sini: If Kokichi was a girl, I swear, things would’ve been a little different

Ves: if kokichi was a girl but written the same ppl'd say he EATS BABIES if he was written like kodaka likes to write women he WOULD eat babies but it'd be like, fine

Sini: Kokichi literally revealed a threat to the cast. And yet they still treat him like he’s this big villain….WHAT? Okay, but literally people treat Celeste better than Kokichi. Celeste is worse than Kokichi in everyway (personality wise)

Me: Celeste is evil in such a simple way, it's easy to brush over she's just greedy, a materialistic girl in a materialistic world, who could blame her? murder? god forbid women do anything

Sini: She’s very slay, but it’s just shitty cause you know people only excuse her cause she’s a cute girl

Words at the Well

A reinterpretation of the famous artwork The Meeting on the Turret Stairs by Frederic William Burton.

They were silent as they approached the well, both of them dragging their feet. It had been a long and trying day – a battle with a tribe of mountain oni had earned them a small shikon shard, but all of them had been injured in some way during the fight.

Inuyasha had already recovered from his broken nose, stoically sitting on his haunches in the carnage of the battle field while Miroku cracked it back into place for him. Now a few hours later, even the bruising around his eyes had gone. Shippou and Kirara had also gotten over their scrapes, bumps and bruises, but the humans would need a day or two to recover, both Miroku and Sango looking a little worse for wear.

Kagome had elected to go home a night earlier than planned for her test, wanting a hot bath and good night’s sleep before the long day of study ahead of her. Much to her initial surprise, Inuyasha had agreed. He’d been glancing at her anxiously the entire walk from Kaede’s hut, and when they got closer, she thought she knew why.

Neither of them mentioned the lone shinidamachū floating silently around a tree in the gloom at the edge of the forest. They came to a halt in the long grass by the well, the tension between them growing. Finally Kagome cleared her throat, doing her best to smile brightly at Inuyasha, even though she was so exhausted she could barely stand upright.

“So, I’ll see you the day after tomorrow, okay? Try and stay out of trouble while I’m gone.”

She turned, hoisting her backpack up on one shoulder and climbing up on the side of the well, but was stopped from jumping by a gentle tug on her injured hand.

“You’re gonna take care of this, right?” Inuyasha said as he looked up at her, his gruff tone in direct contrast to the gentle strokes of his fingers against hers. He glanced down at her hand, barely touching the bandage covering the cuts where the feathers from her arrows had sliced open the skin. “Make sure you wash it again, and put some of that cream on it. And you need to look after those scrapes on your knee too.”

Before she could answer, Kagome’s attention was drawn to the forest behind him, where another shining youkai had joined the first, its snakelike form twisting through the trees. Both of them seemed to be carrying souls, and Kagome pushed down a shudder, hoping neither of the softly glowing orbs had belonged to girls in Kaede’s village. At an insistent tug on her fingers, she turned her attention back to the hanyou in front of her, doing her best to smile again for him.

“Inuyasha, I’ll be fine. Make sure the others rest, and as soon as my test is done, I’ll be back.”

“You promise?”

“I promise.”

As he continued to gaze at her, not moving away, she sighed tiredly, her exhaustion and morbid thoughts weighing heavily on her.

“Go on Inuyasha, she’s waiting for you.”

“Don’t matter. You got hurt today Kagome. I need to make sure you’re okay first.”

“But-“

“But nothin.”

His amber eyes seemed even more intense than usual in the growing shadows, the parched yellow grass lit by the setting sun a pale comparison.

“I have a duty to Kikyou, it’s true. It’s a matter of honour, and apart from my sword and the clothes on my back, my word is all that I can call mine. Just like you go to school for those exams because that’s what your family expects. You have a duty to them too.”

He pulled her hand gently to his chest, covering it with both of his, resting his head against her arm, his voice slightly muffled against her shirt.

“But I want to know you’re okay Kagome.” His voice faltered, and he turned his head, nose pressed tightly against her arm. “I need to know you’re coming back. And I want you to know I’ll be waiting for you.”

Tears sprang into Kagome’s eyes, and she curled her fingers around his, squeezing gently, ignoring the pain.

“I promise I’m okay Inuyasha. I promise I’ll be back.”

He released her fingers with a sigh, hiding his hands back inside his long sleeves, squaring his shoulders and smoothing his earnest expression away with a scowl, as if the softness had never been there.

“O’course you will. Bring more ramen when you come back, we’re nearly out.”

Kagome grinned at him, then turned and jumped, enveloped by the eerie glow of the well.

The day after tomorrow she had an exam, which she was not looking forward to. Then Inuyasha would be waiting for her. But right now, she had a long overdue date with a hot bath.

Last time, Shuichi and Kaede lost to Kirumi's incredible stamina in bed. But now everything will change, they will win! Shuichi and Kaede called Miu for help and also put on sexy bunny costumes. Running. Chapter 33: Possible Sanctuary?

It had only been three days since the gang had gone out to do what they needed to do. During that time, there was still no word about the Underground being in Tokyo. Keebo had worked effortlessly to make sure that the pursuers weren’t in the city. Not one trace at all of them. Even Kaito and Mondo drove around the city to see if they would get attacked or followed, but nothing happened at all. If the Council or anyone else from the Underground were near the city, it was most likely on the outskirts of the city. That means that if they had decided to leave Tokyo, they’ll need to be extra vigilant.

On a less worrying side, things have settled down in the Den. Kaito and Maki have been on a more stable level and hadn’t had any tension for the first time since the whole Underground drama had started. While Kaito was still concerned about her nightmare, he stuck to his word, and was patiently waiting for the day that she opens up about it. Mondo and Taka have also been on stable terms. They still have the occasional small argument, but nothing that would make the others step in, or that couldn’t be resolved as quick as the fight started. They both seemed to be on better terms since Mondo gave Taka his peace offering.

On the third day of nothing but peace, it was time to check in with everyone. Well, mostly everyone. Only Himiko, Tenko, Kiyo, Kirumi, Kaede and Rantaro were on screen. Shuichi and Kokichi were still unable to communicate with whatever case Shuichi was hired for. Angie was probably distracted with something urgent on her home island. It’s happened a couple of times before so it wasn’t a big deal for everyone else as long as she’s alright and Himiko and Tenko know where she is.

“Hey Maki? You okay travelling with three degenerate males? Kaito, I ALMOST trust, but the other two, not so much.” Tenko asked accusingly as soon as some pleasantries and introductions were exchanged.

“What’s with her?” Mondo whispered to Kaito, trying to dodge whatever bullet Tenko was firing.

“Don’t, she’ll probably get more riled up.” Kaito whispered, obviously doing the same as the biker. Mondo only nodded, decided g not to pick a fight during something so important.

“I’m fine Tenko. You know that I can handle myself.” Maki sighed. Tenko huffed, but she didn’t add anything else. No point in dragging this out any longer than it needed to.

“Still can’t get a hold of Gonta?” Kaito asked, feeling like he needed an update on the giant. He also felt like he needed to change the subject quickly before Tenko starts to rant.

“No…I’m starting to get worried.” Keade sighed, her ahoge sagging a little as she shook her head.

“I’m sure he’s fine. Guy might be a big degenerate male but he knows how to handle himself out there.” Tenko spoke up. Her face and tone may seem optimistic, however, the look in her eyes said otherwise. Hating guys or not, she was still concerned for Gonta. Kaito rubbed the back of his neck, not liking this at all. This was far too long for Gonta to not call in. Either he was in trouble or something happened to his device. Maybe Keebo should try to locate his coordinates so they could try to do a search party or something. There was something else that Kaito had suddenly started to get concerned about.

“Hey, where’s Ryoma?” He asked, finally noticing that Ryoma hadn’t made an appearance for too long. Even if he didn’t come on screen while everyone else was, it was only for a minute or two.

“We’re not sure. All he left was a note. He said that one of the people that hired Shuichi required his assistance.” Kirumi answered, holding up the note as evidence. Now Ryoma was hired by this mystery client? Just what is going on here? Kirumi then held up another sheet of paper with numbers on it. “He also left this. Apparently, the person that hired him left some coordinates for the four of you to go to.”

“Why?” Maki asked, raising a curious eyebrow.

“According to the note, Ryoma was able to find a safe place for you four.” Rantaro smiled calmly. “Sure, Tokyo is a good place right now. But apparently this place is more guaranteed to protect you.”

A better place than Tokyo? How can that be?

“Are you saying that my place ain’t good enough?!” Miu yelled, shaking a fist. She couldn’t help but feel insulted after all the work she put into the Den to make herself, Keebo and their guests to feel safe under her roof.

“No, not at all.” Rantaro quickly said, holding up his hands calmly. Miu didn’t believe that but only huffed and crossed her arms bitterly. “But apparently this place would be a better sanctuary with a lot of Limitless that also escaped from White.”

“Almost like what the Underground used to be.” Taka spoke optimistically before he was reminded about what had happened recently. “Before Orochi changed everything…”

So, a possible sanctuary of sorts? It seemed like that there might be a chance to be among more Limitless. There’s also a chance that they might be able to get help for the other Limitless that Orochi had trapped in the Underground. But what if it was also a trap? No one can ignore the possibility of that.

“Keebo, are you able to locate those coordinates?” Kiyo asked, finally speaking for the first time. With how silent and still he was, everyone else briefly wondered if there was a glitch with his connection.

“Processing now.” Keebo responded, connecting himself to the computer as his eyes went bright blue. There was a slight whirring sound as he searched through the internet and online maps. “They seem to be the location of an old summer camp that was abandoned after being shut down in the 90s.”

“Can you get an image of it?” Kirumi asked. If they can get an image of the area, or even better a love feed, they might feel more confident about this place. However, as Keebo started to look at the area after hacking a satellite, he suddenly started shuddering in the seat. His voice started stuttering as his circuits started to go haywire. If he wasn’t a robot, anyone would think that he was having a seizure. A couple of sparks even flew out of his neck.

“HEY! Don’t start malfunctioning now!” Miu shouted, whacking Keebo on the head. After hearing the clang, Keebo shook his head as if to clear it.

“Nyeh? What happened?” Himiko asked, tilting her head slightly.

“Are you okay, Keebo?” Kaito asked, patting the robot’s shoulder. Keebo’s head twitched a bit before he sat up straight.

“It’s strange. It’s like I was being blocked.” Keebo groaned, rubbing his head as if he had the equivalent of a human migraine. “I hit some kind of program that prevented me from seeing anything.”

“A program?” Mondo echoed.

“A very good program. It was so heavily encrypted that I couldn’t break through.” Keebo explained, clearing his own circuits from any potential damage.

“I wonder…” Mondo suddenly muttered. Everyone could see that for once he was actually thinking something through deeply. It was as if he was trying to remember something important. The question is, would this important information help or hinder the situation?

“What’s wrong Mondo?” Kaito asked curiously.

“Just hearing about that program, it reminded me of a friend that was in the Facility with us. Remember, Ishimaru?” Mondo asked, slowly looking like he was getting excited as he turned his attention towards Taka all of a sudden.

“Ah! Yes! I see what you mean!” Taka immediately smiled as the penny dropped for him. Seeing how everyone stared at him with confusion he was quick to clarify a bit more for them. “There was a Limitless that could create his own programming and hack into someone else’s if he wanted to. That’s one of the ways that we used to escape from the Facility.”

“Really fucked up with White’s systems that did!” Mondo laughed loudly as he remembered overhearing the scientists cursing at the systems for screwing up on them and they didn’t have a clue on what was causing it until it was too late.

“You’re saying that this could be one of your friends?” Kaito asked enthusiastically. This sounded good. Better than good!

“It’s gotta be! No one else is that smart or skilled enough to come up with a program like that!” Mondo smiled proudly, eyes shining with excitement. There can’t be any doubt about this now. They know the potential location of another Limitless that Mondo and Taka were acquainted with. Maybe even more. A new location that was perfectly safe from the Facility. And the Underground! This sounded like a perfect place to hide with being in a more isolated area and literally wiped off of seemingly all of the maps in every corner of the internet.

“I say that we check it out then!” Kaito immediately grinned, unable to stop himself from blurting our his words. Mondo agreed with a wide grin of his own, whole Taka looked a little conflicted.

“But we still need to be careful.” Maki brought up, not fully convinced if this was a good choice yet. Concerned eyes stared right at her, silently urging her to continue speaking. “Even if they’re not in the city themselves, the Council might still be waiting for us to leave.”

Just hearing that, brought everyone’s positive outlook turn dim. In all the excitement, almost everyone had forgotten the danger. Only for a brief moment, but still forgotten nonetheless. It did ring on their worries again. If the Council was waiting outside the city all this time, there was a chance that they might have brought reinforcements from the Underground to make the capture more secure. The whole thought just didn’t help calm the situation at all.

“We’ll wait for about a week. If there’s still not a peep from the Underground, then we’ll head out.” Taka took over, trying to regain some control of the situation. It sounded good. It would also give everyone some time to work out a travel plan and get some preparations done too. Not to mention, make extra sure that they were bugged with trackers still. Keebo couldn’t find anything, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

“Might I also suggest that when we hear from either Shuichi, Kokichi, Gonta or Ryoma, we immediately call in.” Kirumi added, her brow deeply lined in thought. “The more that we know about what they’re doing too, there’s a chance that we might find out more about what’s going on.”

“Agreed. We all need to stay safe.” Kaede also chimed in, a concerned look on her face. A few more words were exchanged in regards to everyone’s concerns with the Underground and Gonta’s absence, or pondering over what this secret case could be that required Shuichi and Ryoma’s assistance (along with Kokichi becoming a stowaway). Eventually they all started to hang up. Kaito wanted to add more, but didn’t know how. He was already concerned about how he and his group can leave the city carefully enough and reach this sanctuary. And them stage a rescue operation for those also trapped in the Underground and stop Orochi from committing a war on the world.

Hopefully things will stay calm and they’ll be able to slip away easily enough.

“Is something the matter Kiyo?” Maki asked. Kaito looked up at the screen again. Kiyo still remained on call. This was quite unusual. Normally he’d be one of the first to disconnect so he could get back to his anthropology studies. Kaito suddenly had a chill go through him. If Kiyo stayed, that could possibly mean one thing.

“I’m out!” Kaito shouted, breaking out into a cold sweat. He tried to turn and walk away (more like run away), when Maki grabbed the back of his jacket, making him stop in his tracks.

“Kaito one is for you. It’s from your mother.” Kiyo continued.

“Sorry Mom but you know that I don’t like messing with occult stuff!” Kaito whimpered, once again, trying to step away with Maki grabbing his arm this time to stop him. Miu started cackling, but shut her mouth when both Maki and Taka sent her a warning glare. Mondo tried to stifle his laughter. This was very amusing to him too.

“I suggest that you shut up and listen!” Kiyo suddenly shouted. Everyone flinched and stayed silent at this uncharacteristic shout. “Her message was for you to be careful, find the truth. And that not all is what it seems.”

“Can she be a bit more on the nose? Not a fan of riddles.” Kaito muttered, really wanting to get this over and done with. Then again, he kind of wanted to know a bit more, even if he wanted to bolt right this second.

“She faded away before she could tell me the whole thing. It happens sometimes unfortunately. If she contacts me again, I’ll let you know right away.” Kiyo sighed sadly, looking down slightly. Kaito didn’t like messing with spirits, but he did want to know more. Despite his fears, he will lend an ear of his mother needed to speak to him through Kiyo again. Especially about this “truth” that he needed to find. Just what did she mean? Kiyo suddenly perked up as he continued to give his message. “Owada, there’s a message for you too.”

“The fuck you mean?” Mondo asked, the smirk on his face suddenly wiped away.

“It’s from your brother, Daiya.” Kiyo answered, not thinking about any possible distress that he might cause. Upon hearing that, Mondo suddenly felt like his body froze on the spot and his heart stopped. What the hell?! What does this long haired creep know about his brother? Was he poking around in Mondo’s head? Or was he just trying to screw with him out of some sick pleasure? But if this was some joke, how did this guy find out about his brother’s name? Could Daiya really be trying to talk to him through Kiyo? Either way, this guy had no right to mess with his head and emotions right now. It was like something had snapped inside of him.

“Kiyo…I don’t think this is a good idea!” Kaito shouted, sensing the heat coming from the biker.

“The accident…he doesn’t blame you for it. He never did.” Kiyo continued, not reading the room. It gave Kaito a flashback to when he had this kind of encounter back in the Facility. Kiyo had seemed to go into some kind of automatic pilot and ignored anyone’s request to stop with this freakiness. He just couldn’t stop himself.

“Either you turn that fucking thing off, or I try to burn this bastard right now!” Mondo finally seethed, smoke slowly starting to emit from his hands.

“Don’t you fucking think about it, Biker Boy!” Miu yelled, getting ready to grab something and throw it at Mondo.

“Okay Kiyo, thanks! Bye now!” Keebo quickly said before finally cutting the spirit medium off. However, Mondo was still seething. His breathing was irregular. He was stopping and starting erratically. He was shaking with nothing but pure rage. His body was dangerously heating up even more and the smoke from his hands started to become more present. He truly looked like he was going to burst into flames and take everyone with him. Taka had suddenly placed his hands on Mondo’s shoulders, causing the biker to snap his eyes right at him. Taka didn’t flinch, he only stared right back, not breaking eye contact.

“Owada, try to calm down. Take deep breathes.” Was all that he said. Mondo almost shouted at him, but stopped before a word could leave his lips. Instead, he did just as Taka had instructed. It took a minute, but things had started to calm down. Mondo looked less enraged, and his body was cooling down. The smoke faded away. His breathing was more calm now. Taka stepped back, seeing that it was safe now. “Good. Are you okay?”

“I will be as long as that bastard doesn’t do that again.” Mondo sighed, shaking his head.

“We’ll tell him not to should he be on call with us again.” Maki said calmly. She looked around, making sure that she had everyone’s attention. “We should start preparing now, just in case.”

She wasn’t wrong. Better prepare now and wait for the time to move. This wasn’t the time to relax just yet. However, there was one thing that Kaito needed to do before he started to get everything ready.

“Hey Miu? Could you let me use my phone again? Got an important call to make.” He asked, his voice suddenly sounding heavy.

“No problem. We all know how much they mean to ya.” Miu smiled sincerely. She knew what he meant by that.

Custom Toonami Block Week 126 Rundown

Inuyasha: So since things have been kinda heavy lately it’s time for filler again… I mean we had a whole huge stretch of filler right before the Band of Seven arc but we haven’t had Modern World filler so I get the studio’s impulse to go back there now that the group’s finally back in the general area of Kaede’s village. Turns out now that Kagome has some free time her school’s just doing cultural festival shit so she can’t actually get to progressing her studies which sucks because she’s probably got enough absent days to be held back till she’s thirty already. It kinda makes me wonder if her friends are suspicious like ‘Oh you suddenly got better when there’s a party being planned huh?’ like they already know despite being sick she supposedly has a motorcycle gang yakuza possessive boyfriend so I just wonder what kind of life these girls think Kagome has. Anyway Kagome gets roped into doing all the active work since she missed all the prep stuff and all of her understudy positions get called in at the same time so she has to step up and do everything. Also since we can’t just have a filler arc about Kagome doing festival shit there’s a plot point about freeze-dried fungus demons being let loose in the school which nobody told Kagome that if you boil/heat them they fucking pop up in full Foongus form and start murdering so… that’s bad. Also Naraku visits giant ear man from All That to find out where the last jewel shard is. But yeah I remember when Toonami re-aired Inuyasha when it first came back this was actually the last episode their aired before they moved the schedule around, which this is pretty far into the series so it’s not like it was slighted or anything but I just imagine people that haven’t seen the whole thing thinking the series ends with fungus demons destroying Tokyo because someone fucked up.

Yu Yu Hakusho: So with the name reveals last chapter and the group being in a hospital, it’s no surprise that Doctor is the first of Sensui’s henchmen to attack. Apparently Sensui wants Doctor to fight Yusuke to see how he deals with fighting another human to the death which idk I feel like that’s racist. Like I get it’s probably a different matter to kill someone that looks like you but when you think about it and the dozens of sentient beings Yusuke and similar protagonists have killed it never really makes much sense for them to get hung up on killing humans like our lives are somehow worth more than another race that’s basically exactly the same except it has some horns or blue skin or some shit, at least when Bleach redid this whole arc they went out of their way for the first humanoid Ichigo kills to just be a straight up human after all the times of dancing around him not directly killing human-like Hollows. Still, tangent aside, Doctor infects everybody with poison insects that are even more poison and insecty than the ones outside. He also jumps one of the ally Stand Users and plays a pretty tense game of ‘guess the Stand User’ and turns out he has Kabuto’s chakra scalpel from Naruto except his doesn’t suck and can actually cut people and he just murders like five nurses and paralyzes our Shadow Bro Stand User, still with some shadow shenanigans he’s able to tell Yusuke which doctor is Doctor and they have that cool animation scene everyone references when talking about this show and Yusuke fucking blows his arm off with a Spirit Gun, like so much for him not wanting to kill humans, he reattaches the arm but Yusuke didn’t know he could do that and losing an arm’s worth of blood is pretty fatal in the middle of battle even if he does do the ‘I’ve turned off my pain sensors’ thing which I thought we already established in the Dark Tournament arc was not a good thing.

Fate/Apocrypha: It’s the big ‘oh boy here comes the final battle’ episode and Astolfo is all ‘oh yeah I can do a plot thing but I need to prep my anime powerup music’ so they decide to hold off on sieging Semiramis’s fortress and let the protags sulk around for a bit and get their last bits of navelgazing in before all the big fights happen. Caules and Doc OCk girl do the dolphin sex thing Rin and Shirou did in UBW which thankfully they turned down the sexual overtones on given these two are siblings because everyone’s like ‘You’re a girl and don’t like when dogs die and also have no legs so fuck off’ which seems kind of mean, like I know it’s not like this all the time and I don’t mean to sound like an SJW here but I kinda don’t like when they do the ‘you don’t have the heart to be a warrior’ thing to girls, like at least this girl’s still gonna fight but the only time that speech has ever been pulled off without feeling weird is FMA where they made it absolutely clear that Winry murdering Scar for revenge was a bad idea and they were just cockblocking her from plot relevance. Anyway Jeanne sees Astolfo’s Monster Energy Can and answers some questions the internet still hasn’t settled for some reason, and then Astolfo goes on a date with Sieg for no real reason and they run into Mordred and are like ‘hey, humans huh, aren’t they weird?’ and they have a long weird pretentious talk that basically ends up with ‘yeah humans do bad stuff and good stuff’ which ranks up there with KLK’s ‘humans are humans and clothes are clothes’ in terms of dumb morals except KLK was doing it on purpose. Anyway Mordred asserts she still wants to be a good guy at the end of the day and vandalizes their airplane while everybody has their ‘yeah let’s go final battle time’ moments. I mean we are getting close to the end but I’ve learned from FGO that no matter how many times they say ‘this is the final battle’ there may still be like three or four final battles left.

Speed Grapher: We pick up roughly where we left off, Kagura knows she’s dying now and is worried about Saiga’s eyes giving out from the Euphoria Factor and they fight because Saiga wants to go it alone to protect Kagura and Kagura just wants to be with Saiga even if it means dying. Saiga agrees to testify to Parliament about Suitengu on the condition that Kagura doesn’t have to and they get her out of the country. Meanwhile Ginza gets reports about Suitengu’s plan causing everyone in the city to go crazy and causing a massive crime wave but she’s way too deep into her character spiral to care and has more money than she ever needs so cleaning up after the police isn’t high on her priorities so idk if she even works for them anymore. Saiga goes out to think and ends up talking with a guy named Joe who’s drunk and oblivious enough to not recognize him but admits he’s a big fan of Saiga’s because of how he’d be brave enough to run into warzones and stand and fight for what he believes in while the real Saiga tells him that causes aren’t worth dying for since he’s not testifying to bring down Suitengu he’s only doing it to protect Kagura but he and Joe kind of admire each other all the same. Saiga goes to meet up with the Parliament member’s group the White Eagles and they get ready to prep Saiga’s testimony, murmurs in the group reveal Joe really is a member of the White Eagles but there’s a mole in the group and people think it’s him. Still Joe comes in with a full list of Roppongi club members left behind by an assassinated former member and reveals that the Parliament member’s really a member of the club and HE’S the one leaking the White Eagles’ activities to Suitengu and the main government. The politician reveals his true form as a Euphoric and becomes a speaker man that blows everyone’s eardrums and scrambles their brains with sound (this makes sense since he’s one of those rich dudes that listens to classical music on speakers bigger than he is but it wasn’t relevant till now) Saiga survives the sonic blast because he’s a Euphoric but Joe and the rest of the White Eagles die and now Speaker Man has kidnapped Kagura and Saiga’s gotta face him down while Ginza and the newspaper guy are on their way inside. Also they couldn’t resist going with the ‘Good Vibrations’ title for the next episode which is very cheesy but if I’m being honest I’d probably go for it too.

My favorite 'random theory/headcanon' for people who think V3 happens in the Hope's Peak Universe and all the 'Dr is fiction' stuff is bullshit, is the 'Kaede Akamatsu and Natsumi Kuzuryu are twin sisters'. Because A) if the 'Kaede has a Younger twin sister' it makes sense since Natsumi's birthday is the day after Kaede's (March 26th and 27th) B) it would make sense for Natsumi to have been in the Main buildings Music room during the twilight saga (which had a piano) AND give her further reason to think she was the Ultimate Lil Sis as well as fuel her inferiority complex, C) They look similar, D) Kaede and Fuyuhiko both being super into upholding the law, but also 75% ready to murder, and E) I find the potential dynamics SUPER interesting

More headcanon rambling under the cut

Kaede called them 'Fuyu' and 'Natsu' for short

Fuyuhiko just occasionally tells people about his 'little sister' but never specifies which lil sister, or the fact he has two (which leads to people being confused as to how he can have a Sister whose super outgoing and friendly, yet really mean and has no friends)

Natsumi gave Kaede the nickname 'Piano Idiot'

Kaede refers to Fuyuhiko as her 'Big Brother' rather than 'Older Brother', mostly out of habit

Kaede goes by their mother's maiden name because she wanted her talent to speak for itself in the Piano contests, not fear for her families names

Kaede and Fuyuhiko ROASTING each other

Fuyuhiko: You gonna get over your dumb-ass reservations about riding bikes? Kaede: You gonna hit a growth spurt? Fuyuhiko:... You gonna ask out that Detective (or insert whoever you ship her with here)? Kaede: You gonna ask out Peko? Natsumi: You're both stupid. Kaede is so used to the deadly aura around her, so she 100% doesn't notice Maki's blood lust, nor all the references she may be an assassin.

Kaede's class being FLOORED when they finally meet her siblings. Mostly because the sweet optimistic Pianist who scolds them for breaking the rules IS IMMEDIATELY FAMILY TO THE BIGGEST YAKUZA FAMILY IN JAPAN and it only came out because she nearly tackled her brother in a hug when they did a class meet up with 77-b.

I imagine Soda and Teruteru walking up to Fuyuhiko like "How dare you have not one but TWO cute sisters" And Fuyuhiko claiming both his sisters are fucking insane, but also thinking No one's good enough for them.

ANYONE WHO DATE'S KAEDE HAS TO GO THROUGH A 'SHOVEL' TALK WITH FUYUHIKO AND KAEDE, except it's less of a 'Hurt her and we'll hurt you' and more of a 'If you hurt our sister, no one will ever know you existed.'

After their parents realized Kaede had a talent for Piano, their mother became very strict about what Kaede could and couldn't do.

Once their relationship as siblings is outed in their classes, Kaede will just pop into Fuyuhiko's class to check on him. Chisa lets this slide because she thinks it's cute.

Natsumi gets made if Kaede let's anyone else take pictures of her playing piano. Everyone knows the only exception is if Natsumi's in the picture with her

Natsumi actually knows how to play piano, because when they were younger Kaede wanted to enter a duet competition, but couldn't find a partner.

Kind of a Side headcanon to this:

Peko and Maki recognize each other as hitwomen within moments of meeting. They also have an unspoken agreement of 'I won't reveal you work for the Kuzuryu's if you don't out me to my class as an Assasin'. At first, Peko wasn't sure if this deal included Kaede, but after hearing her talk about Maki as a 'Child Caregiver' she knew she shouldn't say a word.

Peko is the reason Kaede doesn't know it wasn't normal to just compliment girls.

Peko is just as protective of Kaede as she is Natsumi.

After v3 Headcannon's:

(I imagine that there was some memory fuckery to make it make sense, but this is DR so memory fuckery is par for the course)

The survivors look for the families of those killed in the killing game to give them some closure.

Shuichi ends up being the one who has to tell Kaede's family.

Imagine his shock when Future Foundation gets him in contact with the Head of the Yakuza (and his wife Peko), whose on some island somewhere.

He has to tell Fuyuhiko that Kaede is dead.

Then he's asked to elaborate on how Kaede died.

Fuyuhiko can't ever look at a Piano again. Something that meant so much to one of his little sisters. But after knowing they both died in proximity to one? One being murder in cold blood, the other framed? He can't stand the sight of it.

He still has Kaede's favorite brought to the island in her memory, but neither of them set foot in the music venue where it stands, never to be used by its owner again.

Peko grieves by learning a few simple songs (not the one Kaede was forced to play in death), but it brings her comfort and she imagines she's playing with the girls that she grew up with, her sister-in-law's who never got to see the day they'd get to have that title.

V3 simulation AU because i hurt my own heart: Kaede moves to Jabberwock Island to live with Fuyuhiko and Peko, mostly to help her regain her memories of Hopes peak and to come to terms with the fact her younger sister is dead

So I noticed that a lot of people in the Danganronpa fandom tend to use the term “psychopath” for characters that do anything considered morally reprehensible, and usually, but not always, in a negative manner because they don’t like said characters. So I thought I’d discuss that.

Note that I am not a psychologist, and do not claim to be making 100% accurate diagnosies

The characters most often given the label of psychopath, and the ones I’ll be looking at, are Junko Enoshima, Genocider Syo, Mikan Tsumiki, Nagito Komaeda, Monaca Towa, Kokichi Ouma, Korekiyo Shinguji, and Tsumugi Shirogane.

Now, before we proceed, we must first define what psychopathy is and its symptoms, as well as its relative, sociopathy.

Psychopathy, also known as Anti Social personality disorder, is defined by the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition) as follows. 

“APD (Antisocial Personality Disorder) is a DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition), diagnosis assigned to individuals who habitually and pervasively disregard or violate the rights and considerations of others without remorse. People with Antisocial Personality Disorder may be habitual criminals, or engage in behavior which would be grounds for criminal arrest and prosecution, or they may engage in behaviors which skirt the edges of the law, or manipulate and hurt others in non-criminal ways which are widely regarded as unethical, immoral, irresponsible, or in violation of social norms and expectations. Those with APD often possess an impaired moral conscience and make decisions driven purely by their own desires without considering the needs or negative effects of their actions on others.  Impulsive and criminal behavior is common.  The terms psychopathy or sociopathy are also used, in some contexts synonymously, in others, sociopath is differentiated from a psychopath, in that a sociopathy is rooted in environmental causes, while psychopathy is genetically based.”

If you couldn’t be bothered to read that wall of text, psychopaths have an impaired moral and empathic center. To be clear, this does not make all psycopaths and sociopaths criminals, though criminal behavior is fairly common. A lot of people with this condition actually end up being pretty sucessful. 

So what are some of the symptoms? For one, psychopaths feel no remorse for there actions, lack empathy, and said actions tend to be pretty self serving. They also lack a generally ability to tell right from wrong. They can also be quite impulsive and agressive, and have a general disregard for the well being of themselves and others. And finally, they’re manipulative and deceptive for the purpose of profit or self amusment. They may also derive pleasure from the pain of others.

As a side note, psycopathy is a natural condition, whereas sociopathy arises from environmental conditions. (It’s a bit more complicated than that, but for our purposes, its enough.)

So, with that established, lets take a look at that list, shall we? First off, the characters I don’t believe are psychopaths.

Genocider Syo 

Now, this one might confuse people, but hear me out. Genocider is mostly just crazy. She’s really not all that socially manipulatve, and from what I remember, she does have some amount of empathy. She also does end up caring for Komaru. So yeah, mostly just a bit crazy.

Nagito Komaeda   

Most of his behavior, I believe, stems from his diseases, namely his dementia, and Nagito is a fundamentally honest person, lying only when the situation calls for it. And he does display empathy in regards to character deaths. 

Mikan Tsumiki 

 Mikan does seem rather off the rails in DR2′s third trial, however, you must remember that this personality of her’s is not a reflection of her true personality, but rather her Ultimate Despair personality. Normally, she a fairly normal, if traumatized and socially awkward girl.  

Korekiyo Shinguji

Now to the first of two I’m likely going to have the hardest time convincing people of. Most of Kiyo’s behavior stems from the toxic relationship he had with his sister. He feels things when he talks about humanities beauty. Generally speaking, he’s relatively normal outside of the third trial.

Kokichi Ouma

Ho boy, where to start with this one. Well, for one, Kokichi does in fact feel empathy. His most notable reactions are to Kaede and Gonta’s deaths, both of which genuinely made him sad. He also has a strong moral center, with a firm distain for violence an murder. Kokichi is also perfectly of whether his actions are right or wrong. He does care for his own well being, and the well being of others. His mercy kill plan in chapter four was steamed from the idea that being dead was better than the outside world. And he really isn’t all that manipulative, mainly in regards to chapter 4. Sure, he showed Gonta the flashback light, but he let Gonta decide what to do with the information. He’s very much not an impulsive person. His chapter five plan was several trials in the making, and he’s very much a person who plays the long game.

And for all above characters, and to a degree the characters I’m about to talk about, are all in a killing game. Such an environment fosters unusual and atypical behavior in otherwise normal people. I think a lot of people forget that. This is a franchise built around talented but otherwise mostly normal teenagers for a main cast.

So, with that, who are our psychopaths?

Monaca Towa

Someone already did an analysis on her, so I won’t talk about it here.

Junko Enoshima

Do I even need to explain this one? Gets extreme pleasure from the pain of others, doesn’t care for her or others well being, doesn’t see what she’s doing as wrong and manipulates class 77 into becoming her remnants. I’m probably missing some things, but yeah.

Tsumugi Shirogane

This is one I’m a but unsure about, but lets go. Tsumugi doesn’t seem to feel any remorse for her actions during the killing game. She doesn’t care that she and the other survivors are going to die. She doesn’t see what she’s doing as wrong. She’s sorta manipulative (?).

Husband!Leona x Housewife!Reader: Birthday surprise

As you have your birthday today, Leona has a plan to prepare a party for his one and only beloved wife; however, uncle Ruggie and your babies almost burn the house down to ashes when you're out...

Warning(s): None, just a review on Leona's chaotic father experiment trying to babysit his neko babies.

Note: This work is the continuation of a personal au I wrote for @jessamine-rose s/o and Leona have 3 adorable kittens (babies) in this au; The elder two are twins , a girl named Kaede and a son named Haruki while the baby gremlin is a sweet but chaotic cinnamon roll girl named Lucy (Lulu).

At last, it's here: The big day. Not only Leona seems have been expecting this day to arrive for months, or perhaps, he's been waiting ever since you had your previous birthday last year.

Not that you thought previous birthday celebrations with them lacked anything specific or was incomplete in a recognizable way; but it didn't change the fact that you didn't seem to have enjoyed them either.

Leona is the prince of the afterglow Savannah, after all. As her wife your birthday was nothing less than a national holdiday and he always tented to prepare royal celebrations ever since you married him.

But for some reason, that formal and majestic aura seemed to bother you in a way; perhaps because you preferred to be actually spending time with Leona and your family instead of having to stay in the same spot for hours with your back straightened as you greet thousands of strangers and the rest of the royal family.

Not that you ever spoke of how uncomfortabe and annoying all of those birthday ceremonies were, but you almost let out a relived sigh when Leona tells he isn't going to put out another of those extravagant celebrations.

The night before your birthday, Leona comes to you and mentions hoe it's been a while since the last time you had some time for your own, and he's right: From the day you gave birth to lulu you've been awfully busy with housework and caressing your babies; not that your life could be any sweeter than it is now but you had to admit- You somehow missed the old days when you had more time to spend on your own...

Leona recommends you take a day off, as a birthday treat! You're free to go shopping, take a short vacation to the beach or simply go to your favorite cafe and enjoy your favorite drinks and beverages in peace, meanwhile Leona would take care of the house and kittens so you can have today for your own and all~

Of course you accept his offer, you give him a small kiss on cheek and thank him, the two of you head to your bedroom and you are given the opportunity to sleep on Leona's warm chest for the rest of the night.

Thus you leave the house the next morning after, and now it's time for Leona's secret plan. He's already prepared anything, your favorite flowers, your favorite desserts and food, a very expensive perfume you had liked before, color-matching costumes for both him and the kittens, tiny cute accessories to decorate the house with and at last, tens of gifts from different things he sure knows that you'll love.

Ruggie is charge of cooking, so he gets to preparing muffins and cupcakes while Leona takes care of decorations: Designing the entire house with flower petals, baloons and colorful ribbons would've taken him hours if he were to do that by hand, but using his extraordinary magic skills, the whole house is perfectly decorated and prepared in a second *Chef's kiss.*

Just as Leona is about to let out a proud smirk and return to kitchen to see how Ruggie is doing with he cooking, he hears a sound. He turns his head to find no one but baby Lulu, chewing the decorations.

He runs to her and takes the ribbons out of her mouth, opening her mouth a second time and carefully look through it to see if she's eaten any of them or not. Oh God, he promised that he'd take care of everything when you're out, he just can't let you return home and find out that your baby has swallowed paper, what will you even think of him? Irresponsible partner? Unworthy father? No, he must make sure that baby lulu would be all same and sound until you return home.

He hugs Lulu and puts her on a corner with several baloons to play with, far from anything dangerous she could chew but then baby Lulu discovers a new hobby: popping balloons.

Her tiny fangs have just popped out and her gums often hurt, so she just wants to get her fangies on anything she could chew or bite and wow, this baby is not only totally unaffected by the loud sound of balloons popping right into her face but also finds it quite amusing. Baby begins to laugh loudly and chase after more balloons to chew as she has discovered a new hobby, and before Leona could've stopped her, she pops 5 more balloons with just one bite-

Leona picks her up immediately because if Lulu continued to chew balloons like this nothing of them would be left until you get home-

- But all of a sudden, he smells something rotten, followed by a trail of smoke coming from kitchen. He immediately puts Lulu down and runs back to the kitchen to see what in the great seven's name is happening there-

Leona jumps into the kitchen- just to find Kaede and Haruki screaming and crying as Ruggie's trying to take the black-rotten cupcakes out of the oven. Leona asks what the hell has happened and Ruggie explains he was too busy separating the twins because they couldn't stop arguing whether their mama would like caramel syrup as the topping or sprinkles, so Ruggie totally forgets about the overcooked muffins and cupcakes in the middle of their arguments.

Leona tells him to pull himself and start over- But Ruggie aruges that he won't be able to concentrate on both babysitting and cooking if that's how it's going to be. Leona growls and tell Ruggie to stop being such a wacky hyena and just get back to work without messing up again- And Ruggie explodes.

He starts shouting, Ruggie legit starts shouting in a rare, angry tune which terrified everyone even Leona. He roars that he won't be doing shit until Leona actually pays him for once, and the two start arguing. Just as the chaos is burning the kitchen down, Lulu decides uncle Ruggie's leg looks quite delicious to bite, and in a matter of second Ruggie is screaming as the baby lion's fangs literally pierced into his flesh.

The whole house is filled with smoke, Lulu has taken the entire decorations down and Leona's trying to seprate baby Lulu's fangs from Ruggie's leg. Twins are terrified, so the silently sneak out of the kitchen to call the right person to come for help...

It's past 10 pm when you're done with your day off. You've been giggling over how a day off was just what you needed after a long time, you had told Leona to call if anything went wrong, and thankfully, you didn't receive any calls from him while you were out. Leona really seems to have toughed it out as a father, huh?

You knock at the door, waiting for someone to open it. After a 3 minute delay you take a small look through the house and realize the lights are off. You just get in using your keys and suddenly, a loud "SURPRISE!" makes you jump back and the lights are back on, revealing Farena, Cheka, your kittens and very, very very tired-looking Leona and Ruggie standing in front of you. Leona gives you a weak smile as your confused gaze meets him, at last, they managed to clean the mess up before you got home.

Twins welcome you with a warm hug as they lock their tiny arms around your waist, digging their faces into soft fabrics of your clothes as if they hadn't met you in days, and of course, 12 hours of chaos without mama at home is enough to make them want to never be left alone in the house with uncle Ruggie and dad again-

Ruggie is trying his best not to be rude but he quickly approaches you, wishes you a very happy birthday and excuses himself saying he really needs to be home by this hour. You question the bandages wrapped around his leg, asking if he's alright? Ruggie just- Gulps nervously before turning his head back and stare at Leona who is holding Lulu... Ruggie nods quickly and leaves your house asap, poor boy... maybe you should call him sometime later and asking if he's doing fine?

Back to the party, Farena chuckles as he tells you how his younger brother has been DESPERATELY making plans for his beloved wife's birthday for nearly two months-! Farena explains that Leona even refused to accept Farena's help when he was firstly coming up with the plans, but Leona insisted that he wanted to manage everything on his own.

Aaaaaw Leona's face is a must-see now, his ears dropped down in mild embarrassment and frustration, feeling like a silly child in front of you. Damn- If it was on him he wouldn't have asked for Farena's help once in a thousand years even if if Ruggie and him had ended up burning the entire house; but he must admit, he's glad that twins asked for his help because- It would've been impossible to manange to do all the work on time without his help.

Aaah at least your birthday party didn't turn out to be a horrible mess, but at what cost? Great seven, he was supposed to be your one and only man tonight but right now he's nothing but a fuzzy cat wanting to pass put on his bed.

Yet he still manages to keep his eyes open, at least until you're done with the birthday party and Farena and Cheka are finally out; leaving him alone with you. Gosh, he looks so- you can't even find tje right adjective to describe this but all you can say for now is that you've never seen him this tired before.

You gently take Lulu, who has already fallen asleep in his arms and take her to her bed, asking Leona if babysitting her was difficult by any means. Leona tiredly shakes his head in a no, saying how much of a wonderful girl she was when you were away, and you can tell how much of an awful liar he is.

When the kids are asleep, you come to sit next to a lifeless Leona on couch, damn, just what happened to this household when you weren't around?

Leona's too tired to explain, he just sighs and apologizes for your birthday not being even *close to the best it could be, just to meet your laughter.

Oh lord, he is being quite desperate at the moment ha? Leona was always the dominative and demanding one, to have him serve ypu on your birthday... Oh dear, isn't that already the best birthday gift possible?

You excitedly start to tell him how this birthday was just the best you could've ever asked for: Freedom, A golden time to be spent for your own desires and not anyone else, and aside all of these, you return home just to face a secret party waiting for you!

But most importantly: He had gone through all of these... for you, to make you happy.

You tightly hug him, wrapping your arms around his neck and bringing his face closer to yours. Aaaa he looks so cute like this, just like a tired pouty can wanting you to spoil him and to be honest, he's going to need you spoil him for a week at least for him to recovers from that 12 hours of chaos.

It's been a long day, for both you and him. So he just kisses your forehead and bridal carries you to your bedroom afterwards; wrapping his strong arms and thighs around you and jailing you in his embrace. You gasp at the warmth, truth be told having your face burried in Leona's firm chest like this was something you never got used to even after being married to him for years. Damn lion knew how to leave a flushed mess out of you, huh? You chuckle as you struggle to release yourself but hell, the jerk simply pretends that he's already fallen asleep.

Just as Leona's arms are jailing you into his embrace he wonders, today probably didn't turn out to be as good as he'd planmed but well... at least you're happy. That's what he wanted when he whet out of his way planning for today, after all. But he can tell the experiment made him come to appreciate you even more, thinking that you've been caressing all three of your babies for years all on your own while Leona wouldn't have even made it for half a day if Farena hadn't saved him...

Yashahime Episode 15

I think so many of my feelings and observations have been stated by others at this point, but here go my rambling thoughts anyway.

First the negative:  It was an oddly structured episode.  The introduction threw us straight into the past, very, very briefly framed by Riku as the narrator.  Did Riku break the fourth wall or were we to assume a listener we did not see?  I’m still not sure.  So much information was thrown at the audience that it did not feel like there was enough times to savor the emotions of the moments ...  very very important moments that showed us Inuyasha and Kagome’s home and married dynamic, pregnant Kagome, RIN HAVING HER BABIES with Kaede, Sango and Kagome being there (I LOVED that), Sesshomaru taking his babies...I’m willing to wait and assume this rushed narrative is on purpose, but it was a little jarring.

Now the good:

Rin is the mommy!  I knew that.  I was convinced on August 1st during the livestream, but it was a sweet (if all too brief) moment.  Mamiko Noto’s voice as Rin was so perfect.  It was sweet, but it was subdued.  It was the voice of a someone who had just birthed twins and knows something awful is about to go down.  To hear her name the babies was a beautiful moment, and how sweet were baby Towa and Setsuna.  Towa looked a little grumpy/sleepy, but baby Setsuna was already smiling :).  I do think they will show that Setsuna, deep down, is a smiling sweet girl like her mother and that circumstances made her like she is.  It also makes me think that we have only seen one side of Towa -- we haven’t really seen what she has inherited from Sesshomaru -- yet.

I loved that all of Rin’s friends surrounded her and helped her have her babies.  The twins hurrying to get Kaede, Sango going for Kagome...it was a community event!  But seriously, to know that if only for a short while, Rin got to be surrounded by love and peace with her babies by her side makes the bitterness of Sesshomaru taking the babies so quickly afterwards a little easier to bear.  Just a little.  Sango the experienced mom.  Kaede the midwife.  Rin the new mom.  Kagome the expectant mom.  Imagine the conversations and bonding.  Their kids should have grown up together :(. 

And I am going to speculate, until the show proves me wrong, that Rin probably had her own hut and continued to live in the village after she married Sesshomaru, or at least after she got pregnant.  The fact that the twins came to get Kaede at night makes me think that she was not in Kaede’s hut.  Wouldn’t Kaede be at her own place at night? 

Like Inuyasha and Kagome, I think Rin and Sesshomaru had their own place:

This looks different from Kaede’s hut.  I don’t remember the little pathway on the left, but it’s impossible to tell if they are next to the gate here.  Again, I’m choosing to believe they had their own place.

So, this makes me consider how much Sesshomaru really did settle down for Rin.  He gave up his titles.  He did not take her to a castle in the air.  He let her stay among her friends and start a family WITH HIM but still within the village.  He gave her the best of both worlds.  He MARRIED her.  How many times was she called his wife or bride?  She’s no concubine or human piece on the side.  He MARRIED her.  Since he had not seen his mother in a while, I’m assuming he married her in her village, letting everyone know she wasn’t just some poor village girl taken advantage of by the powerful yokai. And it clearly wasn’t just a human marriage.  All the big bad demons called Rin Sesshomaru’s wife. What honor, respect and love he showed to her, a mere human peasant (though of course we all know she is so much more than that, especially to Sesshomaru).

Was he like many lords and installed her in her own home, visiting and staying with her when he did not have business to attend to?  Or did he tell Inuyasha that he better get used to having another demon hanging out in his forest by the village?  Like...for all intents and purpose, Sesshomaru may have been living in the same village as Inuyasha, both intending to raise their families together.  I love that.  Please Yashahime, don’t dissuade me of this.

Poor Sesshomaru...sigh...I know it doesn’t look great for him right now...but that will change.  The story is not going to make him the villain.  It’s just not.  But yes, poor Sesshomaru.  He got to be happy about his babies being born for all of about two seconds before Zero interrupted him.  Look at his little smile while he listens to his daughters’ first cries:

He had his worried face on, and then he smiled.  He’s a dad in the waiting room.  And the TONE of Jaken’s voice when he declared that they had been born.  The WARMTH, the LOVE.  Grandpa Jaken I love you so much.

This bitch, though, I don’t love at all:

Does she have some kind of magic yokai ultrasound that lets her know Sesshomaru had twin daughters and predicted Kagome would have a daughter?  I look forward to seeing how this all unravels, but the fact that she showed up IMMEDIATELY after the girls were born is frightening, and maybe that was why Sesshomaru was at the outskirts of the village instead of closer by?  Clearly, they were expecting some kind of attack, but dang...that happened fast.

Who is this lady anyway?  I’ve seen it speculated that it may be Riku’s mother...and yes?  I could see that.  Did she have a hanyou she was not allowed to keep,  poor Riku tossed overboard, and now she seeks revenge? Or was she rejected by Toga? Those tears of hers.  Who was she crying for?

As many others noticed, this was a little odd:

What about Sesshomaru’s mother?  He hasn’t seen her in years (such a bad son), and when they go to her castle, she’s missing.  Was she just off doing flying dog stuff in the sky?  Was she shopping for expensive jewelry and designer silks?  I’m assuming she was not at Sesshomaru’s wedding.  Or did Zero do something to her and Sesshomaru just wasn’t aware?  I’m dying to see more of Sesshomaru’s mom.  I want her to meet the twins and just throw out her arms all, “Come to Grandma!  Let me buy you things and tell you stories about your dad.”  But that remains to be seen.

Speaking of grandparents, can I say yet again that I love the honorary grandparents Kaede and Jaken, both trying to protect Rin in their own way.  Kaede doesn’t hold back and calls Sesshomaru a fool (imagine what she was like when Sesshomaru was truly courting Rin) while Jaken comforts Rin when her babies are taken away.  Again, the voice acting by Jaken’s VA is EVERYTHING in this episode.  The LOVE he conveys.  He’s perfect.  I love him.  I do.

And Rin knew the plan. She knew what was going to happen, but poor thing...I wish it could have been different for her.  Look how much she loves and trusts Sesshomaru.  That expression clearly says “Look what I made! Look what WE made!”  I wish we could have seen them react to the babies together. 

Also, look at how Sango is about THISCLOSE to putting on her slayer clothes and kicking Sesshomaru’s ass when he scooped up those babies and turned away:

The rest of the episode was such a jumble of events.  Sesshomaru AND Jaken were with Inuyasha and Kagome when the comet arrived, which was after the twins’ birth but before Moroha’s.  Even if they are hanyo, I don’t think Jaken and Sesshomaru would have left newborn babies alone.  Rin was with them.  Jaken even said he was bringing Rin to them (I assume after she recovered from birthing twins).  Further supporting this would be the dream gazing spell business --  Like others have said, I’m pretty sure Rin sacrificed herself to keep her remaining daughter safe after Towa was pulled into the future.

Miscellaneous observations:

1. What the hell is going on with the comet? Every 500 years?  So, the Higurashis might be in for a surprise pretty soon?  Comet remnants are still in the sky though...

2. Why in the hell did Inuyasha bring his pregnant wife along for the comet destruction? Why exactly was she there?  Unless he was too worried about her safety to leave her behind?

3. Riku is one shady fellow.  HE found the compact?  How did he know where to look? I know, I know.  Don’t be hasty, but c’mon.  We don’t have that many episodes left.

4.  I like how they portrayed a pregnant Kagome.  I like this little side view where you can see she’s chunky, but it’s not an exaggerated thing:

5. Sesshomaru and Rin had babies before Inuyasha and Kagome! On one level, it is very sweet.  Of anyone, Rin and Sesshomaru are very aware of the fragility of life and how fleeting time is.  Look at the names of their daughters.  It makes sense that they wanted a family quickly.  On the other hand, I cannot shake the idea that the brothers did get competitive with each other.  I can imagine Inuyasha knocking up Kagome as quickly as possible after finding out that Rin was pregnant.  Then Sesshomaru has TWO daughters to Inuyasha’s one.  I am longing for some brotherly interactions.  Let Inuyasha call him a hypocrite at least once.  Let Sesshomaru gloat that he has TWO super awesome daughters. Let the daughters watch their ridiculous fathers fist fight while their mothers pour water on them and tell them to SIT.  Please.

6. Besides emphasizing the fact that Rin is Sesshomaru’s WIFE, the episode also emphasized the fact that Rin actually birthed the girls. Rin is in labor, it will be soon, you did well, Rin, Rin resting in bed with her daugthers, her voice weak and tired, the tub used to wash the babies in the background.  There was no magic switcheroo.  The twins were not found beneath a tree.  Sesshomaru did not sprout them from a forgotten limb. They came out of Rin’s body.  She’s the mom. She made them with her husband. End of.

6. Finally, this is the best part of the episode.

You sure did, Rin.

OK KAITO MOMOTA ANALYSIS CAUSE YALL ARE CLOWNING ON HIM.

Kaito on the surface:

In the beginning Kaito is shown to be the "All Bark, No Bite" type of person. Always saying that he'll definitely find his way out but without having a plan on how to do so himself, or him saying something along the lines of "You read my mind! I was also gonna say that exact same thing too!" after Kaede's speeches. This makes Kaito out to be this overconfident, hyper optimistic, naive dude. Which to some extent, he kinda is.

However, there's a lot more to him.

Kaito's beliefs on trust:

Kaito believes in the good in each person. He feels like everyone deserves to have faith placed upon them. Like he himself says multiple times, he trusts his gut about people and believes in people just because he wants to believe in them (saying the phrase "I believe in them because I want to believe in them. Do I need any other reason other than that?"). This may put him out to seem naive but I don't think he is. He knows that the possibility of betrayal exists but he doesn't want to let that cloud his judgement. He wants to believe others are good until they prove otherwise. "If I end up getting betrayed it's on me for trusting the wrong person". This proves he isn't just naively assuming everyone is good, he just chooses to give others the benefit of the doubt. He even calls Kokichi naive for believing everyone has an ulterior motive with their secrets, commenting on how everyone has secrets they want to keep and how that doesn't mean the intention behind them is bad.

That's likely one of the reasons why he had such a hard time believing Gonta would kill someone. It wasn't just blind faith. It was understanding Gonta's character and knowing he could never have bad intentions. Gonta would never cave into any sort of selfish motive. He knew Gonta was despairing on the account of not being helpful to everyone. Kaito considers things based on emotion and so by Gonta's previous behaviour (and current behaviour in his trial, ever since he lost his memory,) it makes sense Kaito would doubt Gonta's guilt. There were other factors as to why he acted the way he did during that trial that I will talk about later.

Kaito's beliefs on vulnerability:

We barely learn anything about Kaito's family. We have no idea what happened to his parents. All we know is that he was raised by his grandparents. Being raised by his grandparents would mean that he was also raised with certain conservative ideas about males showing emotion. We see Kaito struggling with the idea of showing "weakness" aka negative emotions (ex. fear, sadness), especially in front of Monokuma. Which is why he punches Shuichi after Kaede's execution. He can't excuse Shuichi showing weakness in front of Monokuma. He doesn't have an issue with emotions in general since he advices Shuichi to stay by himself in order to grieve and also tells him to visit Kaede's Ultimate Lab. He also responds to Maki's love confession by congratulating her on opening up more and saying that since she fell for a guy like him, she can finally love herself. Kaito has a fair amount of emotional intelligence. He displays as much when he took on Shuichi and Maki and made them work on their "enemies" which he figured out fairly quickly. He can even read Kokichi in some moments, such as when he points out Kokichi's issues with trust and how that becomes a hindrance to him in the 4th trial. Kaito himself struggles with expressing his own emotions to others. He doesn't take his own advice. He tells Shuichi that he shouldn't shoulder everything on his own and yet Kaito never shares his illness with the others. He lets them live in ignorance, believing he's always happy and carefree. Why does he do that? Hero complex.

Kaito's hero complex:

Kaito has a severe hero complex which he developed in order to make himself feel needed and also to make others depend on him. He appears arrogant, flamboyant and maybe even toxically optimistic, almost unable to show any negative feelings (that aren't aggression/anger). That is due to his need to appear like the Reliable And Unshakeable Hero Who Fears No Enemy. He takes the negative emotions from within him that may make him seem weak and either completely discards them or masks them behind aggression (that's another conservative ideal he may have gotten from his grandparents). He allows others to idolise him and so he takes his own basic human right to feel less than ideal away from himself just so he isn't knocked off from the pedestal he has been placed upon. He hides behind a carefree, overly optimistic mask and he never lets it slip. Till chapter 4 that is.

Kaito's insecurities:

Insults and criticism:

Kaito is blatantly insecure when it comes to criticism and insults. It is extremely apparent especially in the second class trial where everyone comments on his intelligence and how he's an idiot. (A small parenthesis here: Kaito is The Ultimate Astronaut. He may have cheated on the exams and falsified papers to get in but he was allowed to stay not only cause they found him entertaining but also because they saw talent in him. So I'd love it if we could stop degrading his intelligence like he's actually unable to function. Yeah I call him a himbo but never did I genuinely doubt his intelligence, both emotional intelligence and his general knowledge. Is he dense sometimes? Yeah. But he's not useless or generally stupid. End of parenthesis.) He takes a lot of offense to that insult and even says it hurts his feelings. Meaning that perhaps the overconfidence he's been displaying isn't as authentic as he would've liked. He is very easily provoked, which Kokichi wonderfully displays in almost each interaction he has with Kaito. He is usually quick to point out when someone else gets insulted in a manner that doesn't ring true, but he seems to have a hard time defending himself in that way. He just gets very defensive and usually yells about it, but he can't refute it like he does for other people.

Threatening his ideals:

When his views and beliefs are questioned in the slightest manner he feels personally threatened. He gets very aggressive and even violent when it comes to that. We get to explore this a lot more during chapter 4. As chapter 4 progresses we get to see how his blind faith in others, which so far had only worked in his favour and was considered to be one of his most admirable traits, can be even more damaging than even Kokichi's lies. The idea that this part of him can be wrong in certain situations frustrates Kaito to no end since believing in everyone is pretty much his thing. To be told that THAT can be just as much, and maybe even MORE, of a burden to deal with as Kokichi's meddling probably really hurt his ego. Which is likely why he takes that out on both Kokichi, by attempting to resort to physical violence after the trial, and Shuichi by blaming him for his own shortcomings.

His relationship with Kokichi:

Kaito's relationship with Kokichi is an interesting one since they seem to share quite a few parallels. Kaito, The One Everyone Trusts, The One That Keeps The Group Together, The Hero Of The Story vs Kokichi, The One That Can't Be Trusted, The One That Constantly Lies, The Antagonist. Kaito is overly trusting, has seemingly baseless optimism and is, for the most part, very much a team player. Kokichi on the other hand is overly suspicious of everyone, has no faith in the other students and, for the most part, acts alone. They are almost perfect foils of eachother when it comes to personalities as well, on surface level. However when you look at them both from beginning to end you find many similarities between them. The first one would be how they both share the same goal. The goal of defeating the mastermind and ending the game. How they go about it is definitely different but their plans both do share the same end result. Another thing they have in common is lying. While Kokichi makes it more obvious, Kaito lies as well. He tries to conceal his illness and, again, his feelings that make him appear vulnerable. Kokichi even calls him out on this (and I believe he calls Kaito a hypocrite, then saying how Kaito is hiding something from the group). Then we have how they both try to fit themselves into specific boxes to fulfil their goals. Kaito models himself perfectly in order to fit The Hero Role, while Kokichi does everything in his power to take on The Villain Role. Assigning these roles to themselves is something they both deem necessary in order for the mastermind to be defeated. I have a fanart saved where Kokichi and Kaito play Chess and Shogi respectively against eachother at the same time. From Kaito's perspective, Kokichi has added chess pieces in a game of Shogi, while from Kokichi's point of view, it's Kaito who has the Shogi pieces for a game of chess. They both want to do something similar but they can't quite agree with eachother on how to get there.

Needing to be needed:

As mentioned before, Kaito, in order to satisfy his hero complex, requires people to rely on him. While originally that's not as apparent, it becomes very clear in chapter 4. Kaito not only feels threatened because his ideals are being characterised as wrong, by his own sidekick, but also because his own sidekick can even call those ideals wrong in the first place. I haven't mentioned his relationship to Shuichi almost at all so far so let's talk about that for a bit. Kaito takes Shuichi under his wing because of his hero complex and because his emotional intelligence revealed how much Shuichi needed a hero at that time. He could tell what was weighing Shuichi down and he was ready to try and lift that weight off of him so Shuichi could thrive. He gives him the title of his sidekick and says multiple times that "your discoveries are my discoveries" and "your mistakes are my mistakes, I'll take full responsibility for them!" Considering Shuichi's problem, with discovering a horrible truth and messing everything up, Kaito's words are genuinely comforting to him. Hearing that he won't have to take the heat for discovering some awful truth or hearing that he won't be blamed if he happens to make a mistake. These statements are what made Shuichi more comfortable with his talent and with utilising it. Kaito was the center of attention which means Shuichi as his sidekick could do his thing with almost no disturbance by others. Not to mention the training during night time, in order for Shuichi to relax and distract himself while everything else is chaotic. Kaito was able to read Shuichi and comprehend what he needs to get stronger. So then, when Shuichi started becoming increasingly confident in his abilities, and more independent in general, Kaito was scared. Kaito was scared that he was no longer needed. He was scared that he'd be discarded and that he'd no longer be idolised. He was also jealous of how his sidekick was becoming more and more reliable, more and more useful and needed. Moreso than Kaito himself. That is one of the things Kokichi tried to emphasise in chapter 4. Showing everyone, and especially Kaito, how they were over relying on Shuichi and how Kaito could be considered a hindrance instead of help to him (which he brought up in the trial of the chapter after Kaito questioned one of Shuichi's ideas). On one hand, Shuichi contradicting Kaito's statements meant that Shuichi was finally growing as a person and as a detective, becoming more independent. On the other hand, it meant that maybe Shuichi wouldn't need Kaito anymore. At least that's what Kaito thought at the time. Kaito develops jealousy over Shuichi's reliability, which he later admits in chapter 5. I'm assuming he felt a plethora of emotions after the fourth trial. Betrayal (cause Shuichi chose his own path), fear (of being discarded by everyone else) and embarrassment (from being shown up by his sidekick, for acting in such a pathetic manner and for showing such weakness in front of everyone). However he masks that all behind anger. After the trial he must've been thinking something along the lines of "The student had surpassed the teacher". I mean, if there's no one to save then there's no need for a hero, right?

Kaito's final moments and his collaboration with Kokichi:

Kaito is stubborn and very much so. However, he was able to recognise Kokichi's goal was similar to his own. He was willing to set their differences aside and he was prepared to work with him to end the killing game. While some think Kokichi manipulated Kaito into helping, which to a certain degree he did, Kaito actually wanted to help Kokichi the moment Kokichi said he had a plan to defeat the mastermind. Kaito was able to see through his distaste for Kokichi so they could both work on their common goal. After everything...Kaito is discovered anyway. He's about to be executed and he gets to say his final goodbyes. Kaito, even in his final moments, doesn't let himself feel his own emotions. He keeps a straight face. He keeps his hero facade. Till the very end. He doesn't cry. He doesn't let himself feel anything. All to make everyone around him feel better. He feels like Shuichi and Maki, and everyone else, would have an easier time moving on if he doesn't show any despair. He sacrifices his own needs for others. Again. The hero with the nerves of steel is how he would want to be remembered anyhow.

Then finally, he dies in a way that inspires retaliation. A way befitting of a hero. And a way that finally makes him succumb to the thing he's been working so hard to keep hidden. He dies because of his illness and he does so while smiling. He never lets his mask slip.
