they cross the rise and the valley is sprawled out before them, light breaking through the cloudy day in streaks across the leaves of the...Kaidan feels comfortable calling them trees; pale, thick trunks slender and stabbing into the air. The leaves are golden, here, so maybe it's not chlorophyll. He's going to call this as the source of the pollen that's so thick they've been advised to keep their armor sealed, even thought the atmosphere would be breathable otherwise.

It looks...familiar. Maybe he's thinking of aspen groves but it's not quite... Williams has popped her head out of the roof of the MAKO. "Looks like an elfwood, like Lorien." There's a laugh in her voice, delighted by the pretty view. "Yeah, that's it-couldn't place it." His commander isn't quite so poetic as she climbs out. "Be a bitch to drive through, though. Better go on foot from here." They're only a couple of clicks from the pyramid they located in the flyby, and while the MAKO would be destructive, there's enough space between the trunks that they've got an easy hike, footprints muffled by a thick layer of moss. No leaves, though. He gives into his curiosity, and scrapes back a layer of the silver blue fuzz of growth to find a layer of decayed leaves. Ash nudges him with a smirk - "Like an elfwood, not *actually,* LT." "Wishful thinking," he chuckles. Some local fauna chitters at them like squirrels from the branches as they pass, not pyjaks but maybe the big insectoid things that he'd seen in the briefing that looked like a crayfish had had illicit relations with a hedgehog. And just ahead of them, Shepard has paused to check her omni and as they step up behind her, she lays her hand, fingertips really, against one pale trunk. Up close, he can see the bark is in nearly translucent layers of silver grey and white. There's something weirdly delicate about her touch. And she's been quiet, like she gets sometimes when he and Ashley are talking.

"Commander?" "Hmm?" She turns to look at him, he can just see the way her eyebrows are lifted behind her clear visor. "Oh, just reminded me a little of something I'd forgotten about." "Storybooks for you, too, Skipper?" Ash's question is light but he knows she's just as curious as he is about the things Shepard seems to avoid. Shepard's snort breaks the moment. "No." And then she pauses, shrugs. "Just we had some trees back where I was little. Sycamores, says the 'net, with the white trunks. Big ol' leaves, though." And her voice, just for a few words, shifts from the low, crisp tone to something slower, softer. Like warm syrup from a ladle. "Alright, let's go. Got to get that reading and get back." And it's over. Ash jostles his elbow as she hustles to keep up with Shepard's efficient stride and breaks him out of the spell.

In games you’ve played where you could date who are your top 5?

Just five huh? I am a connoisseur of wlw romance options in games so it's a long list lol.

Femshep x Liara (Mass Effect series) I love the fact that Liara can be romanced in every game in the original trilogy. It gives the romance time to grow, have rough spots (hard to be rougher than Shepard dying) and experience renewal. In many ways this romance was formative in my realizing my sexual orientation.

Miho x Aspen (Please Be Happy) It's such a warm, soft romance that starts off as a sweet friendship but there's this heartstopping moment in the game where you realize you might lose Aspen forever and the fact that it scared me as much as it did says so much about the quality of the writing and the voice acting

Warden X Leliana (Dragon Age 1) - The writing is a bit clunky by modern standards, doubly so for the love scene, but it's still a sweet, gentle romance. The fact that Leliana refers to her love in DA:I makes me smile every time.

Maddie x Abigail (Heart Of The Woods) - This story goes to some dark places but the love between these two is unstoppable by death or time. Bonus: The other couple in the story, Tara and Morgan have a cute romance as well and Morgan is so sweet and understanding when Tara comes out as trans to her.

This one I'm putting under a break because I know a mutual hasn't played the game and I don't wanna spoil it

Player x Grace x Jynx (Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers) The best handling of a polyamorous relationship I've ever seen in a game, nothing crude or mocking. It's just three people who find each other and it's just so sweet, lovely and refreshing.

Honorable Mention: Player x Ashley (Arcade Spirits) Ashley comes out to your character as genderfluid and it's handled so well. It had something to do with my realizing that I'm likely a mspec lesbian.

for this wip wednesday, have a look on one of my most beloved AUs (my golden AU 🥺🥺). i've been writing little scenes for it since i got into the simon snow trilogy and its my baby. that being said, it gets to be bad. its my baby and it centers around snowbaz getting married so its allowed to be cliche and cheesy and inconsistent <33

— I can’t believe I’m behaving like this. It’s ridiculous.

— It’s not!— Baz argues.— It’s just- sentimental. I actually find it endearing.

— He sobbed for an hour.— Penny scoffs.— But yeah, yeah. It’s romantic, whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean.

— Come on, stop being mean.— she rolls her eyes at Shepard.— Simon’s just being emotional. It’s healthy! He cries a lot. He even cries over sandwiches.

— You cry over sandwiches.— Simon mutters.

— I know. I’m just saying, it’s not ridiculous to get a little emotional, especially since we’re talking about getting married. It’s a big thing!

— You know, it’s funny- the way you talk about it makes it sound like you’re included.— Penny giggles, taking a sip out of her glass, then frowns.— Wait. Are you included?

Simon and Shepard exchange a look.

— Shepard. Shepard.— she then turns to Baz, who simply raises an eyebrow.— Gods. Is he included? Basil, are you proposing to my best friend and my partner? I hate you, you know that?

Garrus/Femshep “I could Give you a Massage”

@franswaa​ asked for Pre-Relationship Garrus/Shepard in No. 4. “Do you…well…I mean…I could give you a massage?” From this Prompt List

I used my own garrus-mancer Shepard Aspen for this prompt. She’s a Renegon, badass bisexual chick who hates formality and 100% had a thing for Garrus in ME1.

Aspen sighed and pulled her night black hair out if its usual high bun. She and Ashley had been training all afternoon, pushing themselves to the limit and then beyond it and now she wanted nothing less than a chance to relax. A chance to get some much needed sleep.

Though of course first she needed to check in with Wrex, then Kaidan, then Joker and then… well the list went on.

Honestly sometimes she regretted ever deciding to chase after Saren. Days when she was overly tired and almost dropping from her feet were the days that she wanted nothing more than to be back on earth, lazing in some pool or something.

But then she remembered that that was a pretty ridiculous dream. She knew that in reality she'd never want that; it was hilarious she'd even consider such a thing, actually.

Aspen couldn’t sit still for five minutes, let alone most of her life.

What she really needed was a distraction. That was what she always needed: something to keep her mind off of work for a little moment until she could refresh her mind and get back into it.

Luckily, she managed to find the perfect distraction the second Garrus flopped onto a chair with a massive grumble rising in his throat.

Aspen really respected Garrus. And by respected, she meant that she really had a thing for the Turian. Of course, she'd never act on it. That wouldn't be professional. She wasn't sure she'd make the best lover, either, considering her track record. (Two past lovers dead, one by her own mistake. It wasn’t a good idea to get involved with someone so close to her again).

Still, that didn't stop the attraction she held for him. A very, very strong attraction. One she hadn’t really felt before. One that she was sure a lot of humans would consider strange.

Oh well, just over a hundred years ago they would have consider her attraction to women strange too.

"You seem tired," she commented with a raised eyebrow.

Garrus chuckled, throaty and that strange voice effect Turians had - flanging, if Aspen recalled correctly - made it all the raspier and caused it to echo around them. A nice sound, one that made her feel as though maybe everything would be alright. "Just a bit, Shepard."

Shepard. Why no one ever called her by her name she didn't understand. It wasn’t something she particularly liked either. For Kaidan and Ashley she understood, she was their superior officer. It was respectful. But the aliens on the ship were there to help, and weren't formally acting under her. She didn't particularly enjoy the formality of it all.

Though, as usual her concerns went unvoiced. "What's up? Anything I can help with?"

"Ha, probably not. Currently the only things that'll help me are a six hundred year nap, a bucket of dextro coffee - which the ship is very lacking in by the way - or a long massage."

For a second, Shepard considered those options. Sure the first two were unobtainable, but then the third one? She took in a deep breath and found some initiative. “Do you…well…I mean…I could…” she sighed, shaking of the strange nerves that always started to grow around Garrus and tried again, “I could give you a massage?” she managed to offer, her voice not shaking - thank the gods, and hoped to hell it didn't sound suggestive. She really didn't mean it in any other way than actually giving him a massage.

For a moment, Garrus regarded her with humour, until he noticed her own serious expression and his humourous look fell quickly away into shock. "Wait... you're serious?"

"Yeah,” she chuckleed while coughing awkwardly into a fist, “if you want, that is? I mean I really want you all to be in the best condition and if that means giving you a massage then I guess I’ll give you a massage…"

"Well I won’t turn the offer down, but Turian Massages are really different from human’s. They tend to involve hammers and carapaces. I'm sure you couldn't…” he paused in thought for a second, “Though I could probably find some vids on how to do it?"

That idea horrified her for some reason, though she wasn’t surprised the suggestion came up. It would be a reasonable thing to search... if it wasn’t for that fact that the things that came up when you searched Turian Massage on the extranet were likely to be far less than helpful in this particular situation."Garrus don't make me regret offering this now."

"Okay, okay, no Vids. I’m sure I can lead you through it. And I have a hammer we could use for massages.”

Aspen raised an eyebrow at that, though somehow she wasn’t entirely surprised that someone like Garrus seemed to have a spare massage hammer lying around. "You… already have one?"

"Yeah. It’s called self-care, Shepard. The two of you should become acquainted."

"Ha-ha, Garrus."

She glared and rolled her eyes, but the two of them still started moving to somewhere a little quieter. To where it was a little less likely that someone would walk in on them and believe they were doing something far more R-rated than what they’d actually be doing.

“Thanks for this, Shepard,” Garrus said as they walked, but she didn’t reply. The sincerity of his tone had made her face turn red and her throat close up and if she had replied... well it was likely that any restraint she’d built up in the time she’d known the Turian would all come crashing down.

I didn't keep the exact line, I hope that's okay! And it's very short.

This early in the morning, the rest of the world still slept. Even the sun barely lifted itself above the horizon, lazy rays of light tentatively inching across the land like the first, stiff stretch after a long night's sleep. Light filtered through yellow aspen leaves as they danced in the gentle breeze, gold glittering across freshly fallen snow. The mountains had been covered for weeks, the snow creeping down toward the valley with an unspoken promise. Overnight, nature had finally delivered. A solid foot of snow. A soft, dense blanket that quieted the entire world.

Arms wrap around her from behind, covering her bare arms with wool and Shepard smiles.

“You’re gonna freeze.” Kaidan says, voice heavy with sleep.

“Nah,” her words drift out as steam in crisp fall air, “it’s warm enough with the sun.”

Kaidan’s laugh lacks enthusiasm - he’s never been a morning person - but not sincerity. His beard scratches against her neck as he wraps her up tighter, his breath tickles against her ear. “That why you have goosebumps?”

“Not the only reason.” She smirks at him over her shoulder.

Hope ignites in his eyes as another part of him wakes up. “Come back to bed?”

“In a bit.” Shepard slips an arm from under his, holds him in place with a single hand. “It’s too nice out to go back inside yet.”

His chuckle comes from deeper in his gut this time, warms her from the inside out at the same time it raises goosebumps from every inch of skin. “As long as you stay warm.”

The light twinkling off the snow is bright enough to blind, but she can’t look away. There’s a stillness to fresh snow, a calm in his embrace, that she’s not willing to let go of. With his body heat to keep her warm, she might keep him outside, wrapped around her like this, until spring.
