I like to think that the reason Jack and Maddie never noticed Danny's ghostlyness is because one (or both) of them are related to a rogue with visible mutations.
Obviously, you've got people like Poison Ivy, Two Face, and Killer Croc, but there's also The Penguin, Joker, and Bane. Seriously, how f-ed looking was Danny Devito's Penguin? Bane weirdly makes a lot of sense since Jack is also built like a firetruck. But, you could pull from any heroes Rouges Gallery.
Anyway.
So eventually, Danny starts to have ghostly features in his human form. Glowing eyes, razor sharp teeth, or an odd skin color. Of course he'd freak out and try to hide it from his parents, but eventually they notice anyway and sit him down to have the "talk". Just not the one he's been expecting.
This ends with Danny having an existential crisis. Is he a halfa or is he a meta?

Also!
Which character has changed the most since your first draft of them, and how?
(God sorry for sending so many questions)
(OMG NO WORRIES I LOVE THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS PLS KEEP SENDING THEM-)
But OH MY GOD!!!!! E D G A R. Edgar from The Monster and the Butterfly is the character that I feel has changed the most since the very VERY first draft of this story. Both in design and character! He and Sophie are some of my oldest OCs, with their story existing in some way shape or form for about 10 years when I first started writing in middle school!
Be prepared for a long post because omg I love rambling about the evolution of characters and stories, I hope you don't mind!!
Also I got excited about this ask so I included a rough visual of Edgar's previous designs:
Tumblr media
Starting in 2014 he (or rather she) was Ophelia, a witch that cursed herself with a rogue spell, and her 'beauty' counterpart was a boy named Samael that was sacrificed to her by a witch cult lol. It was very cringe, very much 2010s Wattpad content (i mean...the story literally started with Samael waking up to his alarm and mom waking him up for school)... and I distinctly remember calling this story "Beautiful Beast" because I thought I was being very original with a female beast x male beauty story lmfao (i was not)
Then around that same time I discovered The Phantom of the Opera...meaning that Edgar was going to become a poorly done carbon copy of the Phantom lol. He was like this for about a year, and across the board he was a dragon shifter for some reason? I cannot remember why lol...and also I remember in these versions of the story he had a brother named Lazarus who's FC was Robby Benson, and his 'beauty' in this version was named Kristine and she had a son (???????). Again, very 2010s Wattpad cringe, very much plagiarized Phantom X Christine fanfic (i'm very sorry)
It was around 2016 when I discovered the movie Panna a Netvor/Beauty and the Beast (1979), a very gaudy, atmospheric Gothic horror retelling of the fairytale from then Czechoslovakia. I was OBSESSED With it (and still am!) so I wanted to create a bird-like beast like in the movie. At the same time I was also obsessed with stuff like Black Butler and Penny Dreadful so I was inspired to change this story set in Victorian Era London. But this version of Edgar was VERY horrible and very much made it a tragic horror story rather than Gothic romance. He was the one behind the Jack the Ripper murders, drinking the blood of woman to satiate himself, and had very poorly-written schizophrenia as he was 'haunted' by his dead mom. I did away with this idea around the time of the pandemic because I found the idea insensitive and overly-edgy. But nonetheless this was where TMATB as we know it came to be: Gothic romantic setting in late Victorian era London with a bird-themed beast and a main female character who was into gardening in some capacity.
Then story started becoming more romantic, Edgar went through another design change to now be a fleshy vulture-thing, and was now becoming a sympathetic, gentle beast who loved reading and ornithology. Still I wasn't satisfied in terms of his design tho.
So then around 2020, after wanting inspiration to create a more humanoid-looking beast (and getting such inspiration from Brad Dourif as Grima Wormtongue in the LOTR films and Danny DeVito as The Penguin in Tim Burton's Batman Returns), Edgar's design became this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While remaining a romantic hero, his role has become the more feminine one in the romance: he is the one needing saving, he is the one often in distress, he reads romances often intended for women, he's a very passive romantic role, etc. Also, his character is now heavily inspired by historical figures like Joseph Merrick (a.k.a. The Elephant Man) and Quasimodo from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, so now he's a gentle, well-read, kind-hearted, traumatized emotional basket case we all love today!
I hope this is a satisfactory answer omg so sorry for the long ramble of a post!!

I'm gonna try something different. I'll tell you about my Batman fancast, and then I'll ask for suggestions on who else to add. Let's see how this works:
Picture this: it's 1982. Around 15 years after the Adam West Batman series began. ABC, looking to cash in on superheroes yet again, decides to greenlight a New Batman TV series. This show lasts longer, and is a mix of the old 60s show and the darker 80s comics. It's like an adventure comedy type thing. The show has two Robins: Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. But Jason Todd never dies in this shows timeline. Because I think that makes it more interesting. Any help with this fancast would be much appreciated:
My Cast So Far:
Alfred: Jon Pertwee
Commissioner Gordon: John Astin
Harvey Bullock: John Candy
Leslie Thompkins: Betty White
The Joker: Robin Williams
The Penguin: Danny Devito
The Scarecrow: Christopher Lloyd
Poison Ivy: Kathleen Turner
A few more I've gotten to, but let's more on.
Roles I need help with:
Batman
Robin I/Nightwing
Robin II (Jason Todd)
Batgirl (Barbara Gordon)
The Riddler
Catwoman (Selina Kyle)
Two-Face (Harvey Dent)
And More. All help with this would be appreciated. Because Frankly, I'm running out of ideas on my own. Anyways, here's the link to my thing:,
Edit: I've made a few more possible choices, so here's an update:
Batgirl: Maybe Molly Ringwald (she does look the part kind of, to me at least. Not quite as old as I was hoping since she's in her teens and I was thinking someone 21 or so, but it's all I've got).
Catwoman: Mary Steenburgen (Again, it's all I've got for now. So we'll have to go with it).

of all the iterations of 🐧 that exist, which would you say she’d get along with/have the most natural chemistry? 👀😏
ooooooohhhhhh, I've actually thought about this!
Wait, wait, I know you asked which one but what if I'm extra and break down a few of them? lakfjweljh
I will answer right off the bat though who I think she'd have the most chemistry with and that would be BTAS!🐧 birb. And leaning more towards The New Batman Adventures where he looks posher like the 60s RL birb. (also i love paul Williams's voice so i'm biased alkfjwer) Idk if you ever watched the animated series? But I like how they wrote him in that series. Like the episode where he legit tries to go good I felt bad for him since he did a lot of faux pas, socially, and... in a lot of other stuff like even eating, and instead of anyone helping him they just made fun of him and tried to take advantage of him. But he's been shown to be romantic or open to it (romance that is) and Sophie is more open if the other person is more open. So they'd have a better time connecting. She'd find it amusing also how he has henchwomen nicknamed after birds, as well as this version, likes animals a lot. I think in the animated series his BG story, or one of them, was his mother owned a pet shop and it was not that he was old money like in other versions. Generally, this version of the round birb is a lot more sane but still sneaky, but smooth and calm so they'd complement each other well. ALSO I LOVE THE THOUGHT OF HER BEING TALLER THAN HIM AND JUST LEANING DOWN AND GIVING HIM KISSES! like fucking uhhhh morticia and gomez vibes.
NOW Gotham 🐧 is who I originally made Sophie for. (yes i am that person who makes ocs cuz i want to ship canon characters alkfjwerkl) It's a lot more difficult but that's because they made Gotham Oz a lot more complex and complicated. As well as unhinged. They added Danny Devito Penguin as much as they added classic Penguin also. The actor actually even made remarks how they added Devito Pengy in. Um but it would really only work after that 10 year stint in Blackgate because if they met during like any of the seasons when the show was going on... She'd just be like "i hope this man dies." also they wrote him to be in love with The Riddler. Or they baited it soooo much but you know these CW writers or Fox writers or whatever. But they totally had feelings for each other! Or it was so one sided for Oz. BUT I DIGRESS. I really just wanted the chemistry of them having a back and forth, being cunty to each other but they work so well in business and playing games. It was less about love and romance at first and more... Gotham is a big chessboard and Oswald is a Chessmaster and she could be one also, but prefers to be Chessmaster Sidekick trope. I just wanted a character that could outperform him and for him to know that but can't do anything about it... Because she can use magic and simply petrify him, so he'd have to figure a way out around that or get her to join him but along the way they fall for each other. But it takes a long ass time since fucking Gotham is full of betrayal and shit happening every episode so his ass is super paranoid, insecure, a sociopath. I just want conflict.
Arkham!Games Penguin... Total bastard. Sophie would just be 'this man needs to leave' just like how she feels about Black Mask at that point. But at least Black Mask I think.. I think if I remember right he freaks out when his GF gets killed so even Roman kind of has more of a romantic or at least possessive bone in him. Because OZ in that game is such... a little bastard lmao also he's sort of not smart. At the beginning of the second game bruce wayne is seriously doing parkour right in front of him and he doesn't make the connection that could be Batman. tdlr he's not romantic and if she is not desired by her SO then snake lady don't want him.
lfkajwer ok i don't want this to get any longer so simply: danny devito pengy: yes it could work, the batman animated series 2004 pengy: yes but only after she trained him LOL, the batman 2022: no for romance but yes for working together because a bitch likes mafia type shit LOL, some comic depictions are ehhh depends on whos writer.

Keaton 2: The Squeakel - Batman Returns: 1992.
I like this one better! It’s still not, like, a good movie, but it’s at least more entertaining to watch. I know people dunk on the nonstop puns a lot, but I feel like the bigger issue is that the characters are usually not actually talking to each other. They’re just sort of saying lines while standing in the same room. This is kind of hard to describe and I’ll get into it more in Batman and Robin, which is, I think, the worst offender, but it’s definitely present throughout this series.
Danny Devito is great as the Penguin, and one of the very odd things about this movie is how sympathetic they make him while also totally committing to him being a villain. Everything about his backstory casts him as the sympathetic party, and his initial motivations do seem to be just to track down his birth parents. In addition to the events themselves, the structure of the movie makes us want to root for him - we open on his birth. The first information we are given in the movie is that this man has been mistreated and we should sympathize with him. It just seems like a weird move for a character you ultimately intend to make into a mass-murderer and then kill.
One of the main villains is named Shreck, which is very funny for obvious reasons.
The staged kidnapping of the mayor’s son is an absolute delight. Frankly, if there’s anything this movie left me wanting more of, it was information on the Penguin’s circus henchmen. Who are they. Where are they from. Why are they doing these things. Who can say.
Catwoman’s storyline is just baffling decision after baffling decision. Confronting your evil industrialist boss with evidence of his crimes while alone in this office is kind of a bone-head move on her part, but then he just. Pushes her out the window. Of his office. And makes no arrangements to have her body cleaned up. Frankly, he’s lucky she didn’t die because that would not look great for him.
The Catwoman stuff doesn’t really get time to breathe, and as a result the romance falls kind of flat. I do always enjoy when last movie’s love interest has just disappeared between films. I know we spent the whole last thing on these two but it’s over now. Don’t ask any questions.
The next movie chronologically is Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) but I only made it ten minutes into that one before admitting to myself that I don’t care that much about Bruce as a solo character and I need some batfam in there to hold my interest. The only thing I want to say about this one before moving on is that there is very offensive Japanese stereotype in the first ten minutes, which was, uh, quite bad to see.

Weekend Top Ten #571
Top Ten Things by Daughter #2
So every year I hand over my glorious, shining blog to my progeny to allow them to mucky it all up for their birthdays. And that time has come round again as we celebrate the anniversary of Daughter #2 gracing us with her presence. It was the same day the Mercedes garage near our house installed a giant rotating logo, funnily enough. Put it in your diary.
Anyway, I asked her a while ago what she wanted to write and she just decided to list “everything”. So that’s what this is: a list of everything. It’s basically her top ten everything of all time ever. She wrote it out for me in her little diary, which has a lock on it, and I couldn’t open it, so I’ve had to wait until she allowed me to see the list.
And that’s really that for this week! She obviously hasn’t written great screeds on the subject because, well, she can’t be arsed doing my work for me. I’ve tried to elucidate slightly on the items in her list, because I think with the best will in the world they might need a tiny bit of explaining in some cases. But as is the case with all these lists that I get my brood to contribute too – and also some of the early Top Tens I wrote, flush with the joys of new parenthood – they serve as a nice snapshot of where we all are at this moment. These are the things she likes right now, as she turn eight. Future generations will look back and wonder whether it’s entirely appropriate to show too much Tim Burton to a primary schooler. Or ask just what the hell is up with “lilac”.
Anyway, here you go. Have at it, and happy birthday.
Tumblr media
Baby Betsy: so, this is her little dog, Betsy; I’m not allowed to say plush dog or toy dog, she’s just a dog, okay? It’s “Baby” Betsy because it’s the small, baby form of her Nanna’s dog, “Big” Betsy (who is, herself, pretty small). Does that make sense? So Betsy at number one totally tracks, because this is her “Woody” (god I wish that character had a different name), her little friend who she takes everywhere.
Mummy: yeah, okay, this makes sense too. Who doesn’t love their mum? And Daughter #2 has such a sense of feminine style that she requires a role model to, well, do her hair. Coz I can’t do plaits. Sorry.
Daddy: honestly surprised I’m this high. I’ll take it.
Puppies: like, in general; all puppies. She’s dog-mad. All she wants in life is a ton of puppies. Everything is canine-related. Might buy her Cujo for her birthday.
Dumbo (2019): yes, I double-checked, and this isn’t the character, she really does mean the 2019 live-action film by Tim Burton. It’s better than the other one, she says. I’m not sure I agree, although it is less racist. Also, it’s worth highlighting that Dumbo is (low bar here) one of the best live-action Disney “reimaginings”, succeeding by focusing on Dumbo (the character) as being an adjunct to the human family drama that’s unfolding. It also does well by continuing for a good 45 minutes after the point where the initial film ended, having Michael Keaton play – well – a villainous, fictionalised version of Walt Disney but with better hair. It manages to be a sweet, Paddington-esque drama but also lean into some Burton wackiness, and completes his trilogy of Films With Danny DeVito That Have A Circus In Them. Also: two Penguins.
Art: like, art. I think she means, y’know, drawing and painting. Not specifically the concept of art – including everything from song to prose to Candy Crush Saga – and nor does she refer to the 1994 play by Yasmina Reza. Just, like, painting and whatnot.
Lasagne: like her father and his messiah (Garfield), she loves lasagne. Nothing more to say here. It’s delicious. I want some now.
Books: yeah, she’s being a bit all-encompassing with some of these isn’t she? “All books”. Books are great and all, but despite being a very advanced reader for her age, I guess she’s not really that well-read in the grand scheme of things. Maybe she’ll think less of books by the time she gets round to Digital Fortress by Dan Brown.
Lilac (the colour): your guess is as good as mine.
Wednesday (2022): no, not the day, nor even the character; she means the show. She might be putting the cart before the horse a little bit coz we’ve only watched two or three episodes so far; maybe it falls off a cliff. Maybe it becomes less like the good Barry Sonnenfeld movies, and more like the ropey, middle-of-the-road animated movies. Anyway, I’m pleased that she likes Wednesday, for three reasons: (1) I wanted to watch it anyway; (2) it’s a proper TV programme that we can all enjoy, unlike some of the other stuff she makes us watch; and (3) maybe this and Dumbo will be a gateway drug to more Tim Burton and we can watch Batman and Batman Returns this year. Remember: a kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it!

Personal Character TF Moods: Tim Burton, Horror characters, Dan Aykroyd characters, half-human-half-non-human characters.
Favorite TF Mood: Tim Burton characters and horror characters but Aykroyd characters too.
Most Cursed TF Mood: Donald Trump, okay it's not actually THE Donald Trump but a fictional version of him as a monster who is one of my character's evil sides, but besides Trump…Smithy from Gavin and Stacey because well…James Corden, although I am working on a Peter Rabbit tf and that character is also a James Corden character and I did Biggie from Trolls. I did Tom Everett from Caddyshack II and Vic Frohmyer from Christmas With The Kranks when I did some of my Aykroyd-verse ones, both movies they're from are awful but Everett isn't the worst part of Caddyshack II (yes I HATE the character's stupid voice) but I have forgiven him as opposed to Vic Frohmeyer. I did a Mr Bean tf once but that was mainly based on a weird dream and also it wasn't actual Mr Bean himself that was the villain of the story but a twisted version of him.
Most Beloved TF Moods: Celebrity tf moods, and the Aykroyd-verse. The Aykroyd-verse very much takes characters that Dan Aykroyd has played and gives a new spin on them
TF Mood I Wish I Could Write About: Biker Mice From Mars..i've done Vinnie and did a couple of plutarkian transformations and have been wanting to do Lawrence Limburger but he's a tricky character, he's a plutarkian disguised as a human so unless I make it so his human disguise form the show is an actual humanoid form for him I don't think i'd be able to do him justice. I really wish I could do Pete sometimes since I did work on an idea for a Pete transformation, I wish I could do Buzz Lightyear but the problem is well I don't know if it would be inanimate if it was the in-universe toy version from the Toy Story movies, if it was the tv show version maybe I could do it, and maybe if it was the version from Lightyear I could see it. Weyoun…I don't know why, but I just seem to have fallen in love with the character Weyoun, maybe it's because he's a charismatic character, maybe it's because of his eyes, or maybe it's because he's Jeffrey Combs but I love Weyoun and I could do a tf into him, since I saw a picture of Jeffrey Combs in the Weyoun costume and makeup looking at himself in the mirror and thought 'what if that was someone who transformed into Weyoun or became a new Weyoun clone?'), and also lots of Tim Burton characters (I did several a long time ago but they have since been deleted, and I never followed up on ones I promised that i'd do like for example the Mars Attacks aliens or Danny Devito's Penguin, and I haven't done Tarrant yet even though I did Chessur previously, and constantly have Otho on that list of ones to do, maybe I am bit bias on that because I love Beetlejuice in general and I happen to love Otho a lot as a character because of how he's written and also…well the late Glenn Shadix, one of my favorite character actors ever was fantastic in the role. Otho's a character who if written today would have been made an insulting stereotype but the fact the character isn't written like that, he's a gay character who isn't a walking stereotype or a 'Sissy Villain', I know some say Otho is a villain in the movie but I don't think so, yeah he does steal the handbook for the deceased but he doesn't come across as malicious or evil given he's polite and friendly, even towards Lydia but he isn't evil. Yes he did nearly get the Maitlands killed…again, but he didn't know the spell was an exorcism spell. Nonetheless I hope to do him sometime).
Most Obscure TF Mood: I did a Doodles (the dog from the CBBC children's show Tweenies) once and also Bumble from the NZ kids show of the same name, but definitely the Christopher Walken Brainiac from the cancelled Superman project that Tim Burton was oging to do, or as I call him…'alien-robot-spider-Walken'.
TF I Was Hestitant To Do Initially: John Candy. In the past I had very much been made fun of for liking John Candy, why? I don't understand, I love John's movies. I was hesistant to do fiction about a deceased celebrity because of how I got treated for doing fiction about John Candy, and yes…I have done pairings where I ship Akasha from Queen of the Damned with a vampire version of Michael Jackson, and I did the whole idea of Elvis Presley's family as a supernatural family but John Candy was one celebrity I was hesitant to write about despite me being a huge fan of his movies.

What did you think of the new Batman? Would you consider writing a Batman AU with Kylo??? Do you know any fics like that?
Hi!
I waited a while to respond to this until I actually watched the movie lol. I finally did this weekend. I hope you're still out there lol!
I'm personally not into the Batman AU myself and I have no interest in reading any fics that aren't AD characters unless they’re mainstream novels. The only superhero I've ever been seriously into is Wolverine. To a lesser extent, I can also enjoy Iron Man, Thor, The Mystery Men, and the Tick lol. Batman has always been like the boring watered down red headed stepchild version of Ironman to me. Batman has had some really great villains though!
However, I know of two fics you should check out!
Shadows of Canto Bight - Kylo Batman AU by @mrs-gucci
The Thing About Strays - Batman fic by @babbushka
Here’s my review. These are just my personal thoughts, if you liked it, more power to you!
I really didn't care for the movie at all. I found it boring and very underwhelming. I'm glad I didn't take the time to see it in the theaters because at least I was able to get some writing done during it lol!
I've never been particularly impressed with Robert Pattison as an actor and I find him extremely unattractive personally, so I didn't care for him as Batman at all. He is also the first Batman that made me feel utterly ambivalent to him as a character. I really just didn’t care about him in any way at all. Batman is inherently emo and troubled, but I thought RP overdid it and not in an appealing way. I found him as both Batman and Bruce lifeless and boring, and too whiny and emo by a factor of ten. If you want a genius, billionaire, philanthropist in a fancy suit, let me refer you to Iron Man because at least he comes with a personality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought Zoe Kravitz was great as Catwoman and I loved my man Colin Farrell as the Penguin! Although I was obviously sad they made him fugly! I deeply and intensely cannot stand Paul Dano, so much so that I have a very hard time watching any movies he’s in and looking at him on screen, but he was great as the Riddler! His crazy ass performance made the movie for me. He should have had much more screentime. Despite my revulsion to him, I hope he gets some serious recognition for that performance because he was amazing! Why in the hell the movie devoted so much time to the boring ass Wayne and Catwoman family drama with the mafia bs and sat on a villain and performance like the Riddler is beyond me!
Tumblr media
Finally, I don't know why they couldn't choose more than ONE song to play over and over during the movie, but I hate it now! Instant station change when it comes on the radio. It was fitting for the vibe and could have been played at any point in the movie to great effect. Once.
I've seen every Batman and related movie, and I even used to watch reruns of the old goofy ass tv show as a kid with my dad. However, I've only enjoyed five of the movies. One I loved and the other four I liked, the rest I have cared very little for. These are the movies I enjoyed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman Returns with my favorite Catwoman! And Danny DeVito's disgusting penguin was the best penguin!
Tumblr media
Batman Forever because it was so campy and hilarious! Jim Carey as the Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face?!? I loved it! Val Kilmer also gets my vote as the only hot Batman and he was peak hotness during that era. I also thought Nicole Kidman was Batman’s best love interest to date. I loved the cheesy 90's soundtrack too!
Tumblr media
Batman Begins was fun and a nice mature take on Batman. I think Christian Bale is the best overall Batman and at least his body was hot even if his face was not lol! I loved Scarecrow too and Michael Caine as Alfred!!
Tumblr media
The Dark Knight was wonderful! And Heath Ledger's Joker made the movie!!! Not to mention he was based on my favorite weird ass singer, Tom Waits! I would have loved an entire three hour movie that was filmed like a reality tv show that just followed Joker around through life watching him do crazy shit and be insane!
Tumblr media
Joker is the only movie that ranks in my all time favorite movies independent of the Batman series. I absolutely LOVED it! I'm not a huge fan of Joaquin Phoenix but he killed it as the Joker. The dark humor was totally on point for me! Even the soundtrack was great! I loved everything about that movie and I really hope they make another. Robert De Niro was also such a great asshole.

no-context spoilers bulletpoint react for Batman 2022
Every named character acts super well in this. I've seen a few people mention Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) who pulls like So much weight, but actually basically everyone is doing such a good job of their specific role.
This is not Danny Devito's penguin, but he is a worthy successor and is allowed to also be the Penguin
We did it guys!! We got through a batman movie without showing Martha and Thomas getting shot!! We did it!!!
Genuinely though I am so glad a batman story actually like... did something with his parents other than the 1:1 trauma of dying lmao
HOW is Bruce's upstairs house more goth than the literal damp cave full of bats.
Bruce only talks at the worst times, because of course he does.
Batman (the person) momentarily said ACAB. Then I think he got embarrassed and was like. "...but he was a BAD cop."
It's copaganda right, but like. You know. It's batman. It's like the least effective form of copaganda, and doesn't even say cops need more power. it just falls into 'not all cops'. Which. Yeah: James Gordon, most put upon man in the world, would Never do this.
People keep mentioning 'everyone wants to fuck batman in this movie'. They don't mention that Batman KEEPS giving people bedroom eyes. Even when he's trying to be threatening, it's bedroom eyes. They are the only eyes he has.
Every kiss scene definitely looks like Selina is just kinda doing it out of whatever and by the end when Bruce leans in it definitely looks like "ok so she just does like that french thing where they kiss when they leave so I guess bye"
I am struggling a lot bc I do like. Want to give out warnings about things that rubbed me... not the wrong way, but probably the intended way, otl, but I also don't want to give people the wrong idea because like.... it's a batman movie about a serial killer. It's honestly not very gory it's just the Situational Horror. Which Batman is all about situational horror. So. I guess they did that right.
Brace yourself for Situations You Don't Want In Real Life Yet Know Have Happened Before.
Also look out for some flashing lights. Mostly red/white in a club scene, and then things like rapid gunshots in dark rooms and electrical sparking.
I enjoyed it pretty much all the way through, but KC was right, the final scene lands like a wet fart

I'm honestly scared of Fasma's 'true form' because I feel it'll be really hot and attract more simps, or it will be a HUGE troll move and he's like... Danny Devito's Penguin .
[I was so tempted to scrap everything I sketched just to make him a discount Danny Devito when I saw this...]
Ahah, you're not in luck though, 'cause this is what Fasma's other form looks like.
Tumblr media
He rarely ever uses it though. It's a lot less dense and some parts of him are almost gas-like in consistency. It's also a lot more unstable. There's nothing beneath the top hat, don't bother looking, you can't even remove it. His voice does change with this shape, retaining the nasal undertone but lowering a considerable bit.
Fasma only uses this form when he has to charm someone into something, or perhaps intimidate them. It takes a lot of energy to keep it for extended periods of time, and he'd much rather present as his usual noodle self since it makes him look a lot more approachable and funny to others.
He has a 3rd state that only takes place when he's deeply drained of energy, which is just a sad ball of plasma material really.
Tumblr media
Breg has never seen any of Fasma's alternate forms.

Who's your favorite Batman villain?
The Penguin. Was gonna put off this ask for a bit but I got surprised today with an incredible rendition of him, so now the dastardly bumbershoot waddled and squawked his way into my thoughts again and I gotta talk about him.
Tumblr media
Penguin's not just my favorite Batman villain, he's my favorite DC character and comic book supervillain, the main reason I even want to write a Batman story someday.
I love the imagery that surrounds him, the trick umbrellas and the birds he so lovely dotes after and the WAKs and the Iceberg Lounge, which has become maligned in recent years as a sign of his downfall, but I very much appreciate as a concept in general still. I love a lot of the performances and actors who've taken him over the years. Burgess Meredith and Danny DeVito are some of my favorite performers of all time, Paul Williams has a wonderful voice and starred in my favorite film of all time. Tom Kenny, David Ogden Stiers, Robin Lord Taylor, Penguin's just had such great, terrific performances and adaptations. Batman Returns is my favorite Batman film by far and it was what got me to start paying more attention to Oswald.
I love the roles he can play in any given Batman story and how he's managed to endure all of his falls from grace by becoming an indispensable part of Batman's worldbuilding. I love his varied dynamics with Batman and Riddler and Catwoman and Gordon and his henchmen and those who get close to him. I love his style and the way he conducts himself when he's allowed to be more than just a generic mob boss. Penguin's design has, by simply staying unchanged over the decades, gone from "common rich person wear draped over a funny cartoon gangster" to "he is so out of touch and desperate for respectability that he dresses like an 1930s capitalist caricature, like a little kid's idea of what a rich and respectable man looks like, and Penguin's still stuck in that mindset". I love how absurd and plausible he is.
I like that Penguin can very easily fit just about any kind of Batman story, from the campy supervillain plots to the gritty urban crime ones. You can tell stories about Penguin falling in love, pretending to be legit because he doesn't want his aunt to learn he's a criminal, and opening up a comedy act with a talking penguin, or stories about Penguin terrorizing the city with giant robots and guided missiles and driving people to suicide. I like that he's a character who both relishes in his lifestyles of supervillain and crimelord alike, and yet is perpetually restless because the minute he acquires what he wants, he immediately starts wanting something else. He could have Batman and the Batfamily and all other supervillains wiped out and have Gotham in his pocket and maybe even become President of the United States, and he'd still want more. Because Oswald is nothing but wants, the wants of a traumatized manchild in a funny costume throwing money and toys and brute force and tantrums at the world until it makes sense, which only makes him far too fitting as a Batman villain.
Tumblr media
Everyone forgets that Penguin was canonically the first villain to ever successfully escape Batman at the end of a story, completely bypassing the usual "villain swears revenge behind bars" ending to instead escape scot-free, and went on to establish himself as one of his biggest, most inventive and most cunning villains, second only, if not equal, to Joker. I love that he's ruthless and inventive and classy and cunning and brutal and how his main trick is using the fact that everyone underestimates the short fat man to his advantage. He's taken traits that got many of us in real life relentlessly tormented for them, and he uses them to pull the wool over those who think they are better than him.
It'ss a trick that works because even in real life people can't stop looking at this weird and silly little man and think "that guy's too silly for a Batman villain, he's not a murder clown or musclebound monster, what's he gonna do" and, yeah, that's the point, that's been the point from day one, he doesn't look scary or intimidating or even that evil, and he's the guy who pulls the rug under supergenius fighting machine Batman and becomes the top crimelord of Gotham City, a city ruled by terrors and manias and monsters infinitely bigger and scarier and stronger than he is, and he STILL made it to the top and he STILL maintains it, time and time again even when newer and flashier and scarier villains come and go. Batman is, at it's core, a fundamentally absurd character, and Penguin acts as a reminder of that. Because the minute we accept a man can terraform himself with training and money into a living legend on the level of gods, there's no reason why a tiny fat man with similar drive and resources can't likewise throw his weight with monsters and warriors far above his station.
Despite how ridiculously often he's disrespected by writers and fans alike, how far he's fallen off his former position in Batman's Rogues Gallery, and how often he's used as just a punching bag for assorted Bat-people, Penguin never goes away. He's the biggest survivor of all of Batman's villains, more so than the genuinely immortal ones, because he's the cockroach that won't go away no matter how many times you flush it.
Tumblr media
Because once you get past the piles of money and the lounge fortresses and the armies of goons and the piles of cartoony gadget toys not too dissimilar from Batman's own, what the Penguin has is brains, and spite and hatred on a scale no other Batman villain has. He hates Batman, because Batman is nothing but yet another bully who thinks he can push Oswald around just because he's bigger and stronger. He hates the lower class for it's unsophisticated brutes and boors that made his childhood hell. He hates the upper class that's rejected and also tormented him since infancy, that he desperately spent so long trying to be a part of. He hates the monsters and supervillains he works with and has to associate with to stay alive. He hates the city that he fights to rule over tooth and nail.
And although he may never admit it, he hates himself, because he'a short paunchy man with a beakish nose who's brutal and immoral not just because those are the cards life dealt him, but because he likes what it affords him too much to give it away. Because he's never going to have the love and acceptance he desperately craves, he will never be able to accept it or keep it. Because he can never fully be a gentleman, or a monster, but instead a sad mix who belongs in neither of their worlds. Because at the end, he doesn't look like anyone else. He looks like one of him.
Tumblr media
And still, I like Penguin because he's a Gentleman Villain. The one Gentleman Villain of Batman's rogues gallery, even if that's faded from a lot of his recent appearences that pushed the crimelord aspects to the forefront. He dresses like a gentleman thief, he's canonically a huge A.J Raffles fan, he's one of the most cunning brains of Gotham, he's got the money, resources, and adventurous spirit. Problem is, he's The Penguin. And suddenly, all that he has becomes overblown, outlandish, theatrical, and out of touch purely because it's him trying to do all those things. He's a gentleman adventurer gone rogue, the Count Fosco of the DCU, and that only makes it amusing, even endearing, when Penguin does engage in the swashbuckling antics he's so fond of.
Tumblr media
When all his plans go to hell and so he starts fencing Batman, or when he commands henchmen with superflous fancy language, or even when Oswald gives the whole "hero" thing a shot and we see he's actually not bad at it, maybe he actually could have been one if it wasn't for the bile drowning his heart and the hellscape that warped innocent young Cobblepot into Gotham's Penguin, a name that immediately denotes something silly and ridiculous, and he carries it with pride, because he will make you respect that name.
And that's just a couple of reasons. I really, really love this character to the point of obsession and the main reason why I ever wanted to write stories for DC was to get to write Penguin and at least try to do the character a little more justice. But if nothing else, Penguin endures, regardless of what happens to him, in and out of universe. If nothing else, that's a very admirable quality in a supervillain. Oswald is the best.

L*ne St*r Hate Watch 3x08
Disclaimer: if you love the show, don't read this, please have a wonderful day.
Eddie Diaz, because it's only prudent we should gaze upon his beautiful face before embarking on this torment:
Tumblr media
Prefacing this by saying I genuinely don't know how much of it I'll actually be able to get through – equally the TK & Owen shit but also as someone who recently lost her mother. I'm not sure if this is going to trigger some strong emotions or not (probably not - let's face it, it's LS, the writing is fucking terrible, but still). We're just going to roll with it and see what happens.
This is a really awful death for Gwyn who absolutely didn't deserve it (for those not watching – she's knocked over by a bike rider and she hits her head on the curb, and she dies instantly).
I hate this because I really love Lisa Edelstein and I feel this show has done her dirty.
I feel like we're 100% heading for a TK relapses storyline, right? But they're too cowardly to do it to their golden boy so probably not
"leave me alone" TK says in a monotone
God I'm gonna hate this episode so much
He can't act. Like he just actually can't act. I know he's meant to be acting "numb" or whatever but like every single line is delivered in a monotone.
Rob Lowe looks particularly old in this scene? Maybe it's the lighting
Is Carlos going to get to go with them in this and actually have something to do? Amazing
I thought it would just be a Strand family adventure (note from future!me: oh past!me how wrong you were)
Maybe I would feel more if I actually cared about these people, but I don't.
Oh TK is doing the thing that I tried to do which was to simply deny it – damn it, I will not identify with this asshole
I mean I suppose if you really like TK this is exactly what you've been wanting
And like, if the OG did an episode that was all about Eddie, I would be over the moon
So I guess I can't complain about that
But I just find him so intolerable
Confession – I'm not really watching it so much as I'm listening to it, because it's very boring and I can't look at TK too long without getting annoyed
Carlos can do so much better
I'm only 15 minutes in, this is going to be interminable
And no Grace or Judd to relieve things
Also off topic but I feel like I'm the only one who has absolutely fucking zero interest in seeing the new Batman movie and I've always thoroughly disliked Robert Pattinson
It's Batman Returns or fucking nothing
I like my Batman with a lot of camp, thank you very much
"oh no let's make all superhero movies dark and serious" - NO, you put DANNY DEVITO IN A PENGUIN COSTUME AND HAVE HIM EAT RAW FISH, YOU COWARDS
This has been an unsolicited Batman rant
One of the ladies from Superstore is on the plane with TK (couldn't tell you her name, she's a larger blonde lady)
I'm not sure why Rob Lowe doesn't just slap TK and tell him to get the fuck over himself
He is the whiniest of bitches
God I just don't care
21 minutes
Oh what now the plane is going to crash? Plot twist
That would be amazing, two birds with one fucking stone right?
I mean the window blew out on their row and NEITHER ONE OF THEM WAS SUCKED OUT?
The lady from Superstore solved the problem of the broken window by shoving a suitcase in it, don't worry
Oh wow it's TK's time to fucking shine, he's going to save this lady's life and it's almost like he was put on this planet for a reason, right? To help people? Wow, this isn't heavy-handed at all
Why did they leave it to the day of the funeral to fly to New York?
Lady from Superstore saving the day again
Look I'm not saying that she's doing all the heavy lifting in this episode but she definitely is
All right so basically to recap what's happened is that the lady they were sitting next to was partially sucked out of the plane, and they pulled her back in but she's severed an artery in her arm and they're trying to save her life
And that is the bulk of the episode at this point
And I am not invested
30 minutes in
Okay so one of TK's vodka bottles fell in the toilet (in a flashback) and even though the other two were fine, that was the one he drank
And I am side-eyeing that decision
(unless the other two broke and I didn't see that happen - if so, fine)
"you can't save me, mom" TK says in a monotone
While Lisa Edelstein acts her fucking heart out
Can you imagine having a scene partner this fucking bad?
You know how insignificant Gwyn was as a character that her death is solely about TK and Owen's shared man pain, and not about the partner and baby she left behind
I mean I know the OG killed Shannon to further Eddie's storyline but for the most part, they don't kill characters like this
And I just think it's a cheap ploy for drama
And it's bad writing
Apparently the fucking plane was still close enough to Austin that they're just going back to the airport so that TK and Carlos can have an emotional reunion
Ugh I hate this show so fucking much
7 minutes to go
I wish the plane would blow up
Damn it
The plane didn't blow up
Also the lady from Superstore is FINE
Gwyn was a good mother and I'm annoyed that they killed her off when they absolutely didn't have to
Booooooooooorrrrreeeeddddddddd
4 minutes to go
Like now they're not even going to the funeral? All because their plane nearly blew up? Weak as piss
Now Carlos is crying and blaming himself for putting them on the plane
Okay here's the spooky thing, after my Mum died my friend and I had Chinese food to honour her – and they're doing the same thing on this show and I'm bothered by it
Also Rob Lowe is looking rough in this episode? Not sure what's going on there, maybe he's laid off the botox
OH THANK GOD IT'S FINISHED
All right so ultimately I did not find it particularly triggering. I also thought I would fast forward most of it but I half-watched, half scrolled through Tumblr which I feel was a happy medium.
I am side-eyeing people who thought this was a strong episode though because like... ??? If it doesn't have Grace or Judd in it, it's not a strong episode.
In conclusion I still hate this show.
Eddie Diaz for beautiful cleansing energy:
Tumblr media
Maybe a couple more - we've earned it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fucking HEAT in this moment you guys AAAAHHH and it was in the first episode of Season 5
5b is going to kill us, I can't wait

Top 10 Penguins
One of Batmans most interesting foes, starting as one of his biggest rogues next to ,or even surpassing the Joker ,he kind of fell out of favor though he has kind of a reniasance lately
10.Ted Knight from New Scooby Doo Movies
Cause I needed a tenth place
Tumblr media
9.David Ogden Stirs from Batman Mystery of the Batwoman
Replacing Paul Williams ,I think Stirs voiced fits the more refined redesign more then Williams
Tumblr media
8.Nolan North in Arkham City
REally good thuggish Penguin,he has Bob Hoskins vibes
Tumblr media
7.Dana Snyder from Batman Unlimited Animal Instincts and Batman Unlimited Mechs vs Mutants
Snyder also played the character on Justice League Action, which I prefer.....But had to go with Unlimited cause he got to do more as the character ,and he is a very entertaining villain in these films
Tumblr media
6.Paul Williams in Batman the Animated Series
Love the design and the voice, and how he tries to be civilized.I also like that along with the Joker,he is the only other established villain in Gotham ,there is no orgin episode for him. I just wish he had some better episodes ,as aside from Birds of a Feather , he is kind of the villain they used when it seemed they didnt know who of the rogues to use
Tumblr media
5.Robin Lord Taylor from Gotham
Look what I have seen of this guy I adore ,and he's not higher only because I havent seen the whole show
Tumblr media
4.Danny Devito from Batman Returns
OI will fully admit his motivations are a mess ,and the film doesnt know whether he is a pure monster or a sympathetic character .....But Devitos masterful performance and the great makeup design are able to let me look at this character fondly and enjoy him as a scary villain .I also like the kind of Phantom of the Opera /classic monster vibe they are going for with him
Tumblr media
3.Colin Ferrell from The Batman
A fun more gangsterish take on the chartacter ,Farell hams it up and brings a since of levity to the film .His action scene with Batman is a highlight of the film for me
Tumblr media
2.Tom Kenny from The Batman
A bit more of a successful take on the Williams and Devito takes. A monstrous ill mannered criminal who thinks he is more high class then he actually is . Love that Kenny has reprised the role several times
Tumblr media
1.Burgess Meredith from Batman and Batman the Movie
The BEST Penguin ,right off the comic page ,a refined criminal mastermind with an affinity for trick umbrellas .He is the main villain of Batman in this show ,appearing the most often and being the leader of the criminals in the 1966 movie .Burgess Meredith is just so much fun as this master criminal

I went to see The Batman (2022) the other night and it led me down a rabbit hole looking at the tag for the Penguin (because he’s my new blorbo I guess) and now I’m OBSESSED with the fact that Danny Devito wrote a short non-canon one off about the Penguin and Catwoman saving animals together and making out and being weirdly wholesome...the design for Penguin is very obviously the Batman Returns Penguin so like? that’s Danny Devito writing self-insert fan fiction. He can just Do that!!! and God bless him for it!!! Icon behaviour! King shit!
