Thank you for pushing back against the description of Scott as "pure." I love Scott and I admire him greatly. He is very kind and gentle and he wants to help others. But I feel that calling him "pure" (unintentionally) dehumanizes him. Similar to how Stiles said 'not all of us can be True Alphas,' or how Jeff said Mason (another character of color) was 'too good' to be affected by the Beast. It puts him on a pedestal and it seems like a way to avoid engaging with his complex interiority.
Tumblr media
To be quite honest, I was almost going to give this question a pass, because in order to answer it, I'm going to say some things that might offend people that I don't want to offend. There are people who describe Scott McCall "pure," or "a puppy", or "a ray of sunshine" or something of that nature, and they mean every word of it in a positive way. Just today I read someone calling him "babygirl." They see a character being kind in the face of violence, compassionate when it would be easier not to care, and courageous in the face of injustice when it would cost him less to go along, and they applaud. But there are some people who say those very same words, but their intent is not to approve, but to diminish. The difference between them is their ultimate goal: one side wishes to enjoy Teen Wolf as it is; the other side wishes that Teen Wolf was about someone else.
The problem, of course, is how to tell the difference.
The key for me, of course, is if they recognize that while Scott's kindness is a very important trait -- one that sets him apart from many heroic protagonists in United States culture -- it is not his only trait. He also exhibits courage to act in situations in which he neither has the advantage nor a significant stake, resolve to move past emotional and physical trauma, and discernment to perceive the true nature of the characters with which he interacts. Any actual fan of the show should be able to identify scenes that establish these traits in conjunction with his compassion.
But those who seek to de-center Scott from the narrative, to replace him with another character, sometimes try to turn this virtue against him, especially when they fail to magnify his flaws and mistakes into disqualifying crimes. They do this by making his primary and distinctive heroic trait his only trait, and then presenting it as a weakness.
They call Scott "pure," while simultaneously arguing that his compassion makes him soft, because it means he lacks the courage to do what is necessary to protect others. These people say things like he lets enemies go out of mercy only for them to go hurt other people. Ironically, they most often put these words in the mouth of Peter Hale, who is a coward in canon. He ambushes his own niece, attacks unarmed humans from behind, sits out important battles, runs from fights, and works with the person who burned his family alive in order to get what he wants.
They call Scott "a ray of sunshine" while simultaneously arguing that his compassion is childish, only possible because he hasn't really endured loss, and thus he cannot possess true resolve. Not only does this require ignoring repeated instances of physical and mental violation, the absence of Rafael, the disconnect with Melissa, the death of Allison, the loss of Kira, and the way his future was ripped from him. Instead, they argue that Stiles is the 'glue which holds the pack together', even though Stiles literally looks to Scott for reassurance in every single season and crumbles when he can't get it.
They call Scott "a puppy" while simultaneously arguing that his compassion is a function of inexperience and a lack of intelligence, cute but useless. Thus, his 'puppy love' of Allison blinds him to the danger she represents (even though she doesn't). He cannot truly have the discernment to be effective in the supernatural world because he is not by nature a predator, unlike a born wolf such as Derek Hale. Derek Hale, who literally got manipulated by Kate, by Peter, by Gerard, by Peter again, by Jennifer, and by Peter a third time.
Thus, they position his compassion for others, even those who are his enemies, as a luxury that a true heroic protagonist cannot afford. They'll insist that it's sweet, it's laudable even, but since his compassion is his sole virtue (it's not) and he often allows it to override common sense (he doesn't), he is not a legitimate lead for a story taking place in that setting. Thus, they justify their own efforts to take the story away from him and give it to someone more worthy.

So I finally sat down and watched the Teen Wolf movie, but it's been out long enough that I feel like it's okay to talk about, but just in case... 🚫*spoilers ahead*🚫
WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK WAS THIS?!?!
1st complaint: literally every single romantic relationship for Malia has felt incredibly forced, even in the show, but none more than whatever the hell she and Parrish had! I might except some arguments for Stalia, but I always knew Stydia would be endgame...
Speaking of Stydia... let's talk about my 2nd complaint which is that trash throw away ✨️reason for Lydia leaving Stiles✨️ "idea" are you- are you really telling me, the girl that was able to convince a whole group of people and HIS FATHER that Stiles even existed after everyone forgot him and was able to bring him back into existence would just... leave him after a DREAM?!?! She fought against everyone telling her she was crazy for remembering someone who supposedly never existed, but she wouldn't fight for a reason to stay with the love of her life??? Cause that's not the Lydia I remember! She was stubborn, brave, and most of all she believed in her ideas cause she knew how smart she was! This just seemed like the "must use woman's pain to further plot" trope. On top of having a reason for Stiles not to be there since Dylan couldn't be in the movie.
3rd complaint: did none of the relationships the show workout or something? Like... why did Scott AND Argent not want Melissa to know they were in town? Argent and Melissa were so cute! She helped him heal and move on, he actually liked and let her be the strong independent woman she always was. I don't particularly care that Allison came back, I wasn't crazy about how they handled it, but whatever. I think Allison would've been happy to see her dad happy again after how he was after her mom died and then eventually her... instead of lonely and grieving his life away.
But no, Melissa and Argent gone.
But also Stydia... gone.
Scalia... gone.
And from what little I gathered Ethan and Jackson are... something. But Jackson is apparently comfortable just being gone and lying to him about why.
Speaking of being gone... onto my 4th complaint! ALL OF PETER HALE'S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WAS JUST GONE!!! Like they had me in his first scene with the blow torch, that was just regular old sassy Peter, but then he was just all Gung-ho for killing Allison and right back to his revenge filled ways. He was so protective and ready to finally be a dad for Malia at the end of the show, granted he still had a long way to go, but he was finally fighting with the pack and mending his relationship with Derek. When Scott is monologuing at the end of the final episode he says "Now we have allies who used to be enemies. We have protectors." And it cuts to a clip OF PETER FREAKING HALE!!!!! Like I wasn't expecting perfection, Peter was always a bit of a d*ck, but for all of his progress to just be gone was heartbreaking. Only redeeming part was the cigar and blowtorch bit because it had so much Doc Ock 2004 vibes.
And finally Derek... I just- I can't... I know it's cliche and cringey to say, but this movie is not canon for me. Because if it was, that means I would have to admit all the garbage I just watched was real. And I will not accept that. Most of all Derek's fate... Just no.
Anyway... I could continue, but I would be going on forever with complaints. The way I see it is, I still love the show and I will still watch it. This movie doesn't exist and the characters are all still out there together living their best lives as they should be.
The End.

Do you think Peter is actually GLAD that he didn't bite Stiles or invite him into his growing pack? Could he sense how out-right dangerous Stiles was when he offered him the bite? Peter respects the hell out of Stiles, that's a fact, but if things had fallen differently, do you think he might have ended up fearing him more than any outside threat? Stiles not needing the Nogitsune to be Peter's personal Sword of Damocles.
Because if Peter had bitten Stiles, and as Stiles became wiser to the rules of everything going on around him, Peter would know that he was on ever shorter and shorter time limit before Stiles overthrew his little monarchy for himself - not because Stiles is greedy for power or anything, but because Stiles has a very... gray, loose sense of morality and sometimes Peter might get VERY CLOSE to stepping some invisible line, especially if it came to threatening or hurting people that Stiles felt protective of (including Derek).
I'm a Sterek-shipper, but I love the stories where there's a friendship or mutual respect between Stiles & Peter, mainly because I know how dangerous Peter is, and how utterly chaotic and mischievous Stiles is (and dangerous he could be).
I too love Peter and Stiles having a good understanding and respect for each other, since their characters are so similar. I'll admit though, I think that's where our perceptions diverge a lot. I've had to re-read this ask about five times, because I think your view of Stiles and Peter is just Incredibly different from mine, and it wasn't quite clicking. Lemme explain:
I don't see Stiles as dangerous? And I don't think he has a loose sense of morality. I just think it's anchored to things that aren’t Law and Altruism. His concept of morality Is grey, but it's built around a simple concept of protecting those he loves/cares about, which I think we both agree on. That’s honestly a very reasonable morality system to have in this world they live in, where laws and government can’t Help them with their problems. They can’t rely on Goodness to get them through things. Sometimes the choice is between something Terrible and something out of your Nightmares. Sometimes you can’t be good, and Stiles doesn’t try to. He focuses on keeping his people safe, because goodness comes second to family. I do think that if someone he cared about was threatened, Stiles could Become dangerous to do something about it. Hell, that's canon. He lit a man on fire in season 1, both because he knew it would protect countless citizens, and because it would protect Scott, Scott’s mom, and Lydia. But in general, he isn't dangerous. Not because he couldn't be, but because he has no need to? Stiles loves lacrosse and research and solving mysteries and videogames and reading and Star Wars. He likes mother-henning his dad's diet and bantering with people as sarcastic as him. He wouldn’t go darkside without Reason. He doesn't want to. I think what you see as danger, I just see as potential. Stiles has So much potential to do literally anything, if given the right push. But without that push...Basically what I’m saying is there’s no reason for anyone to fear him, unless they’re doing something to harm the circle of people he cares about. And that’s not likely to happen with Peter, because the one person that might be in danger there is Derek, whom I don’t think Peter would ever harm, since Derek is ALSO in Peter’s circle. And Peter, I also don't see as dangerous, at least, not the same way I think you see him. Like I said, their characters are Incredibly similar. We're talking Perfect Parallels, in some cases. Peter and Stiles both have morality systems built entirely around protecting their own. Peter Can be dangerous, and has been Shown to be dangerous, but only when he’s trying to protect himself and his people. The canon often, if not constantly, tries to tell us that Peter is evil, and he'd sell his nephew out in a heartbeat, but the actual things we see in canon do Not match that. - Peter kidnapped Stiles in season 1 because Derek was missing and he'd apparently been Unable to find him himself. He was desperate enough to find his nephew that he grabbed the smartest human he could (the son of the Sheriff) and shoved at his pressure point (lydia) without even Asking first, because he wasn't willing to waste time being polite. And because he had ulterior motives with biting Lydia (resurrection), but that wasn't even hinted at in canon, so I'm dismissing it for now. - He went to hunt his nephew down even though it would mean facing off with the hunters by himself, with Derek likely too injured to be of much help (and he was) and prevented Stiles from following him. One could argue that he knew Stiles would try to attack him after what happened to Lydia, and recognized him as a real danger worth neutralizing, but it also meant he Protected Stiles by stopping him from going to the show-down where hunters would inevitably be shooting anyone they saw head for Derek. And he knew Stiles would head for Derek. - Then there was the mere fact that he Stayed In town when he came back from the dead, even though he was weakened as hell and Derek had Already killed him once. He stayed, and he helped his nephew. And then he spent four months hanging around seemingly helping Derek find Erica and Boyd, without ever turning on Derek? - And his scenes with Cora, holding her hand as they run and staying with her in the hospital. Facing off with Ennis to protect her even though he knew he wasn't at full strength yet? There was no personal benefit to that. - Even what he did to convince Derek to give up his spark. It gets framed like this cheat or lie, but The Alphas were after Derek's SPARK. If Peter could convince Derek to give it up (only possibly, since he admitted he didn't know for sure) to help Cora, then they wouldn't have a REASON to go after Derek anymore. He was Protecting Both of his niblings. (niece and nephew) - He goes with Derek to South America and he is Strung up right fucking next to him when the Calaveras grab him, which implies he didn’t cut and run at the first sign of danger. The list goes on and On and ON. Derek's not in danger from Peter, in my opinion, no matter what the show claims. XD
And as to the starting point of Peter beating Derek to a pulp, yes, he did harm his nephew, but in this situation, Peter genuinely thought he was protecting Derek as well. He was trying to kill the people who set the fire. He Knew everyone who was involved, and he KNEW about KATE. In his mind, his behavior was unfortunate but it had to happen even if it meant hurting Derek a little now. IN the long run, he would be protecting him by killing the bitch who assaulted his nephew.
On the topic of Peter biting Stiles. This seems to actually be another example of him providing/helping Derek, even after death. Let’s go back to that resurrection thing. In order to set up what he did to Lydia, Peter would have to know he was going to die. or at least be relatively sure. If that shit were easy, people would be resurrected all the time, and Peter wouldn’t put in the effort if he didn’t think it was necessary. If he died by a hunter's hand, Derek would become Alpha, since it seems to run through the bloodlines to the nearest one. At least as far as he knew, since he didn’t know Malia existed and they never establish if werecoyotes even Have Alphas, so even THEN it might’ve gone to Derek. And if he died by Derek's hand, again, Derek would be Alpha. So why offer to bite Stiles in the first place? It's not like Stiles would be able to help him. Peter expected to die, and even if Stiles survived the bite, he wouldn't have shifted soon enough to be of any use, and he wouldn't have enough control to help either. Why bite Stiles, when Peter knew he was going to die soon and that Derek would be taking over? Could it have anything to do with the fact that he knew Stiles was already helping Derek before now? That Derek was protective of Stiles in the LTC facility? Werewolves people. Derek was wearing Stiles’ CLOTHES when they went to see Peter. Peter tells Stiles in the garage that wolves need pack, and by now he seems to have figured out that Scott is NOT that pack. But Stiles is. Did he pick Stiles for Derek? To give Derek a real pack member after he was gone? Hell, even if Peter Did bite Stiles, it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of that night. Peter would die, and Stiles Would have ended up Derek’s pack, if Scott couldn’t figure out how to make him stay packless until he became an Alpha himself. There’s no monarchy or Alpha Peter to overthrow. Derek was always going to be the Alpha, and Stiles was always going to be on Derek’s side.
It just so happens that Peter is Also on Derek’s side, which means that they make awesome allies, just like in S3. They have the same priorities, and they know each other and respect each other enough not to step on the others’ toes. But, your main question was whether I thought Peter would be glad that he didn’t give Stiles the bite. Honestly, I think he is, but not for any of those reasons. I think he’s glad because of Paige. At the time he offered the bite, and just after, teenagers were getting bites like it was candy, and thankfully they all survived, even if Jackson had a bad reaction to his. But when Peter comes back, he comes back seemingly...intact. He talks about his past, he has reason and control. And he tells Stiles the story of Paige, the human that challenged Derek, that stood toe-to-toe just like Stiles does. The show gives us a near Perfect Match to Stiles in physical features and wit and sarcasm and Curiosity and acceptance of the supernatural. Remember, Paige figures out Derek’s a werewolf, and she doesn’t even bother bringing it UP, she’s so okay with it. There’s no fucking way that Peter doesn’t see that parallel with Stiles. And while Paige and Stiles are in no way related, I don’t think he would be able to forget how she died. I think that he would be glad he didn’t bite Stiles, because now that he can Think Clearly, he’d never offer it to him in the first place, just in case Stiles was like Paige. He respects Stiles. He likes Stiles. He would not consider the bite worth the risk, when he knows Stiles is just as useful and integral to the Beacon Hills dynamic, while human. I think Peter’s just grateful that past him didn’t accidentally fuck all of that up by trying to give Stiles the bite anyway.

Ok this is gonna be long. I’ve literally been slowly working on this for… too long. I’m just in a mood to have a long discussion about ships. I’ll be looking at canon and not, so bare with me. I don’t ship all of these personally. I’m mostly just picking the most popular ones. I chose to leave out a few that I just don’t want to talk about. I tried to keep this loosely chronological, but that quickly went to hell. None of this is meant to be hate towards anyone’s ship, just my personal opinions on each of them.
Tumblr media
Canon:
Scott x Allison: True Classic
Scallison is so sweet as it is truly the epitome of young love. Romeo and Juliet, except Romeo is even more of an idiot and Juliet is a badass who dies for a cause. They’re moral and ethical codes are both highly valued by themselves, even if they don’t align with others very often. They loved with everything they had. They were beautiful. We’re they soulmates in the end, or just the first love who will always hold a special place in your heart? Who knows, but I’ll always love these immature kids who thought their love could change everything.
Stiles x Lydia: The Long Awaited
Stydia is as slow burn as you can get. Unfortunately their actual getting together was slightly rushed in my opinion. They didn’t have time to find their own as a couple because Stiles just wasn’t in the show enough at that point. I know the reasons behind it, but it did leave this couple at an awkward stage of official-but-not-shown. The idea that Stiles loved her as a kid, immature and infatuated, and he saw her for who she really was, will always be cute. Then they grew, changed, became friends, and found other people. Them finding each other later on, having real love that’s developed slowly, is a wonderful arc. Though, a part of me will always believe they should have pursued other story lines in the wake of Stiles’ absence from the plot. They’re finally together! …but we don’t get to see it.
Jackson x Lydia: The Image
Oh Jackson and Lydia. Honestly, I love them. Their connection at a time in their lives when they couldn’t open up to anyone else, just hits me right in the feels. I mean, god that HUG. You know the one. Always brings me to tears. I’m so sad their relationship was almost entirely depicted during Jackson’s kanima time when he couldn’t think nor truly act for himself. Those small moments of scared vulnerability when he wanted to protect her from himself… I’ll miss these two. They deserved to find other people and remain life-long friends. I loved their moment in the last episode. I wish they’d gotten to see each other grow. Also they had such bixbi solidarity vibes, and I’ll die on that hill.
Scott x Lydia: Leaders
Ok, I’m gonna be honest here. I ship it. The power couple they would have been?? Also them coming together after they lost Allison would have actually made sense. A part of me kinda wishes the writers had moved on from Stydia as a romantic relationship and leaned into them growing as friends and Stiles moving on from his childhood crush. Scott and Lydia actually would have had good chemistry. They were both very headstrong heroic types, but Lydia would have balanced Scott out well intellectually. They had the history, and I think it could had worked if they wrote it right. Plus, Scott and Lydia would have been a better endgame that Scalia.
Scott x Kira: New Beginnings
These two were adorable. Kira was a badass, don’t get me wrong, but she let herself be soft in a way Allison was always afraid to. This couple was truly Baby. Absolute dorks. I can definitely see the lasting quality between the two of them. They saw things very similarly, and had a ton in common. I do think Kira deserves more characterization outside of their relationship, like more of her friendship with Malia. Overall, her departure from the show will always be sad to me. It was bad writing. Scott was over her far too quickly.
Aiden x Lydia: Pretty People Herd
I honestly didn’t see much between these two other than mutual attraction. The best thing to come out of this relationship was Lydia’s line, “You’re not just a bad boy, Aiden. You’re a bad guy. And I don’t want to be with the bad guys.” Good character development moment.
Ethan x Danny: Step to Redemption
Danny really was the thing that made Ethan look outside of the pack for what he really wanted out of life. They had a few cute scenes. Gotta love Danny’s final remarks, “Dude, it’s Beacon Hills.”
Allison x Isaac: Unexpected Rebound
Ok, I like these two. Isaac could match Allison’s snark in a way Scott couldn’t. They both fought the progression of the relationship slightly. They didn’t expect to fall for each other. They were less willing to let someone in close. I’d love to have seen more… but unfortunately their time was limited. On a side note, sometimes their relationship did feel like ‘we both are in love with the same guy, let’s cope with each other’, but I find that completely valid. I’ll talk about Scallisaac later though.
Stiles x Malia: Anchors
Ok but, them <3 I love what they did for each other. Stiles was able to help Malia connect to her humanity and other people. He never tried to isolate her in their relationship and encouraged her growth. Malia offered Stiles the emotional support he never asked for. She defended him, fought for him, and loved him fiercely. Stiles needed that so much after season 3. I think they were a love that wasn’t meant to last, but the impact of it was forever. I wish we’d gotten to see a real end for them where they agreed that they needed to grow as individuals but would always still care.
Liam x Hayden: Three’s a Pattern
These two’s characterization stopped whenever they had storylines together. Their relationship was built on Scallison references. Hayden’s character could have been interesting, but they never really gave her a moment to shine. Liam has the worst plots when they revolved around her. Cute couple, poor writing.
Derek x Braeden: Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girl Boss
Derek deserves to be happy so much. Kate and Jennifer were just... jeez. Him and Braeden were cute and deserved more screen time. I think her intensity allowed for Derek to let go of control a bit more comfortably. Let Derek Be Soft. Anyway, love them.
Corey x Mason: Gotta Have That Rep TM
These two could have been cute if they were shown for more than two seconds at a time. I highkey forget Corey even existed all the time. Kinda just felt like a relationship to fill TW’s gay quota.
Jackson x Ethan: The Callback
Honestly? Loved them. Loved the chemistry. Loved the dynamic. Best twist. I know it was probably written in like that because Colton came out during his time away from the show, but it absolutely fit his character. Jethan is top tier.
Melissa x Chris: BAMF Parent Duo
Ok, so like, Melissa deserved this plot. She deserved someone to care about her. However... what the hell? Chris? In canon, his wife died like 2-ish years prior? His daughter died 1 year prior?? Is Chris really in a position to pursue a new relationship?? Also, like, Scott and Allison dated and loved each other up to her death. Kinda weird to have their parents hook up. I don’t hate it, but I don’t ship it…?
Scott x Malia: Lead up? What’s lead up?
These two came out of nowhere I stg. Like, 6B really tried to tell us this was something that had been slowly developing in the background? Also, I understand that they are their own people, adults, and completely in charge of their own romantic pursuits: but did Scott seriously never call Stiles? Like, Malia wasn’t just his first girlfriend. She was his first. Like, dude that’s your best friend?? Not even a head’s up? No, ‘hey would this bother you?’ Oof. Plus Malia was way too chaotic for Scott. She existed in gray morality that always prioritized her immediate circle, and Scott was a very black/white type of heroism. I just didn’t feel like they fit.
Non-Canon:
Scott x Stiles: Childhood Best Friends
Ya, sorry, I don’t ship Sciles at all. I get it. Like, I totally understand the ship, and I mean no judgment at all. I just see them as friends. I really value good male friendships in media because I feel like we don’t get enough, and I always liked these two.
Stiles x Derek: Enemies to Lovers. 100k. Angst. Hurt/Comfort.
God these two really are what fanfiction was made for. I could write a much longer discussion about Sterek, and I probably will eventually. I’ll try to keep this brief. These two weren’t always on the same side, but their approach was the same. They were very similar at their core. Plus, wow the chemistry. This should have been canon. Jeff’s a coward.
Allison x Lydia: Powerful.
This ship is so great. They really had a great dynamic, and a romantic plot would have easily fit the established narrative. Lydia’s confidence in herself and Allison’s confidence in her own abilities crossing over to each other because that’s what the other lacked? Iconic.
Danny x Jackson: He Gets Him
Danny really saw Jackson for everything he was and still cared. I wished we’d gotten to see more of them. I  want more background with Jackson’s eventual coming out and his friendship with Danny. Like, they ended up dating the same guy. What did Ethan have to say about that??
Stiles x Jackson: Bastards
Ok these two had a super fun dynamic. The asshole-energy between them was, great. The snark was always so entertaining.
Melissa x Noah: Family
How were these two not endgame? Their sons were practically brothers already. They had amazing chemistry. The flirting? Not to mention, their timeline would have made way more sense. Missed opportunity.
Chris x Peter: The Opposite of Love is Indifference, Not Hate
Ok so like, this was definitely one of those ships that I had absolutely no knowledge of before I was pretty into the fandom. Like, this was not something I would have guessed just after watching the show. That being said; my god the chaos alone…
Scott x Isaac: The Disaster Duo
Okay ya I love these two. Two dumb asses who act like idiot puppies. Such a fun dynamic. Plus?? Chemistry??? Hellooo
Scott x Allison x Isaac: Three Heads Are Better Than One
This ship is definitely one of my personal favorites. I very rarely poly-ship. I just feel like most of them are just love triangles with an ‘easy solution’, when two of them have no real connection. That is so not the case here. I feel like all of them have such great chemistry with each other. They also have a great dynamic as a group. Season 3A was really just Scallisaac rights.
Stiles x Isaac: I Hate You, jk…Not Really
Ok I loved their banter, but I really just don’t see this ship. Idk, I don’t personally ship it. Would have loved to see their friendship develop more tho.
Erica x Allison: Duo that would stab you with a stiletto
I don’t ship it, but I do wish we’d seen them become friends. I feel like they had a very artificial ‘girls fighting over a boy’ dynamic? They could have been such a badass duo.
Stiles x Erica: Batman x Catwoman
Ok I’m not sure exactly how to express my feelings for these two so bare with me. OMG I love their dynamic so much, and they are sooo cute. Their energy? Amazing. Chemistry? Great. History? It’s there and has so much potential. 10/10. Love them. But, no, I don’t ship it lol. Just really love their friendship, but with the underlying history of crushes.
Boyd x Erica: Was This Not Canon?
How can anyone not love Berica? Ugh they are adorable. These two deserved so much better.
Boyd x Cora: Survivors
Honestly I don’t really see it? Like they definitely had a connection, but it never felt romantic. I really feel like they just had to lean on each other and bond to make it through captivity, and it just lasted.
Boyd x Erica x Cora: The Pack
I literally learned this was a ship a couple days ago. Similar feelings towards this as Bora, but with the added hesitancy of we never actually saw Erica and Cora interact.
Cora x Stiles: Slow Build Up
These two were clearing being lined up to be a thing before Cora ended up leaving. I can’t say I’m disappointed they never happened. Kinda felt like they just wanted to straight-code Sterek.
Cora x Lydia: Mean Lesbians
Not much interaction to actually go off of, but yes I 100% support. They have very different approaches to problems, which is fun. Very ‘opposites attract’.
Malia x Kira: “Maybe you could date the coyote?”
Another one of my favorites!! They really complimented each other. Also, how full circle would they have been? They were introduced in back-to-back episodes. Malia stalking her as a coyote? The line from Kira’s dad about dating it? It would have been so funny if that ended up happening.
Malia x Lydia: Beauty and the Beast, but make it wlw
These two were fun. I liked their friendship, but I don’t really ship it. Though, rip Stiles that would have been hilarious.
Parrish x Lydia: The Cop and The Minor
Must I say more? Like, Parrish’s character, so sweet and big rule follower, did not make sense for what went down with Lydia. I love Parrish, but the dynamic just felt off. It didn’t feel consistent with the rest of his characterization.
Parrish x Stiles: The Cop and The Minor, but gay?
Ok, same reasoning as above, but also they had absolutely no connection romantically.
Scott x Theo / Stiles x Theo: Sometimes The Villain is Hot
Ok I’ve put these together because I have the same opinion for both. I don’t ship it. Neither had any rebuilding of trust, and Theo really hurt both of them. I just don’t really think they work.
Mason x Liam: Sciles Puppy Pack Edition
Similar to my feeling about Sciles, I just don’t ship these two. They had a good friendship, from the little we saw of it.
Theo x Liam: Anchors 2: Electric Boogaloo
Another personal favorite! I really don’t even understand why this didn’t go canon?? The elevator scene was just, so intense. They helped each other grow in 6B, and I really loved their dynamic. They should have hooked up.
Honorable Mention?:
Parrish x Laura: What’s canon?
I’ve seen this in fanfic a lot, and I actually really like it lol. I thought I’d add it in here because I do love the creativity of fandoms.

For some reason i was listening to this is home - cavetown and came to the crushing realization that if fits sterek kinda well???? Its always been my song for comfort but the other day i was listening to it and got slapped in the face by sterek feels-
I just listened to it right now (x) and I have soooo maaaanyyy feeels. Goddammit, Sterek. Let me have one hour in peace.
Anyways. So.
Often I am upset that I cannot fall in love but I guess
This avoids the stress of falling out of it
Are you tired of me yet?
This is soo Derek. He has been burned by love (both literally and figuratively), first with the death of his first love (which he had to do, even if it was a mercy killing he did kill her) and then he thought this woman loved him enough to want him as he was: broken, young, inexperienced. Grieving.
And then Kate showed him exactly what it means to love someone like him.
It always ends in death.
So now Derek doesn't fall in love. He doesn't even make friends, doesn't socialize. He doesn't let anyone enter the fortress of his solitude, not even Laura, knowing he is the reason they've lost their pack. He doesn't deserve that kind of love.
He waits for Laura to tire of him. To be frustrated and angry at him, to tell him he means nothing to her anymore, because even though he hasn't told her he knows why the fire happened—knows who did it—he is been nothing but a thorn in her side, anything but helpful in her endeavor to help rebuild their lives.
He waits and waits for Laura to tire of him, to kick him out of the two person pack—and she does. But not the way he wanted.
She dies and leaves him alone and there is no one to nag at him to get his shit together, to make him see that he can be loved, should be; but it's not at all what he wanted.
I'll hide my chest
And I'll figure out a way to get us out of here
This can be both Derek and Stiles... but I see it more for Stiles. Idk why.
Derek plays his cards close to his chest, but he does all he can to try and protect the others. We don't really see him be anything but angry in the earlier parts of the show, and you can't make me believe that the person who gave up his Alpha powers for his sister, who trusted Peter (when he was the Alpha) despite the things he'd done simply because he's family, won't be grieving for the only family he thought he had.
And then there's Stiles. Stiles '147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bones. Sarcasm is my only defense' Stilinski who is human and logically the weakest person in a show of mythical creatures. And he is. He is weak. Physically, he knows he can't take on Peter or the Kanima or the Alpha Pack. And he is terrified of that. But you know what he does? He fights in spite of that. He talks, he plans, he misguides, and he fights. He fights because he won't let anyone hurt him or the ones he wants to keep safe.
Stiles, too, 'hides' his true feelings and figures out a way to get them out of their problems. (Does that make sense??)
Are you dead? Sometimes I think I'm dead
'Cause I can feel ghosts and ghouls wrapping my head
But I don't wanna fall asleep just yet
This one is kinda self-explanatory isn't it... Derek is haunted by his past and it's made him into a person who can and is willing to sacrifice his own life without a second thought.
'I know what I'm risking. My life for theirs.'
He doesn't exactly have anything to live for. But he's brave. He's going through hell and he keeps going.
He doesn't want to sleep. Not yet.
Get a load of this monster
He doesn't know how to communicate
His mind is in a different place
Will everybody please give him a little bit of space
Get a load of this train-wreck
His hair's a mess and he doesn't know who he is yet
The first two lines... these are also self-explanatory. I see this as things Stiles thinks (not the monster part, not once he's rationalized that mythical creatures exist in the world) about Derek. (Honesty, I think we all think that lol).
Derek is not good at communication. He wants something but he does something else. He wanted Isaac to leave him so that The Alpha Pack can't leverage his third beta against him, hurt him/kill him like Erica (and Boyd, but I don't remember if he was alive during this time or not), but the way he made Isaac leave was to bank on Isaac's trauma—if I am remembering correctly, this is when he throws the glass at Isaac.
Derek is so not good at communication. And he is definitely a train-wreck; he never wanted to be the Alpha and he still becomes one. He never wanted for Laura to come back to BH (probably why he himself didn't come back here while she did) but she did anyways and he lost her. He didn't want to kill Peter, but he had to anyway.
He lost who he was in the chaos of his life. And he doesn't know who he is anymore—he isn't even the Alpha anymore, he's lost that, and he's been human too.
He keeps losing who he is. He keeps losing his identity.
Derek Hale doesn't know who he is supposed to be.
But maybe...
But little do we know, the stars
Welcome him with open arms
...This is how it was supposed to be.
Maybe this was all fate. All of it, from the loss of Paige to his evolution, maybe it was all mapped out in the stars. Maybe it was supposed to happen.
Just so he could find who he is.
And who he is? He's the best legacy his family could have asked for. He's a predator, and he's a killer, but he's not a cold-blooded killer. He's strong, he's brave, and he is good. He's someone who has had the worst life but come out of it a brighter person, a burning sun; a moon that shines brighter the more that it wanes, because Derek? He's learned to hide his craters, and he's learned to live with them.
Alternatively, though, 'the stars' could also mean Stiles (his moles, scattered along his skin like constellations), the only one who opened his arms for Derek even when he didn't have to. Like saving his life even when they weren't anything to each other.
Time is slowly
Tracing his face
But strangely he feels at home in this place
Time heals wounds, doesn't it?
Derek gets better with time. He doesn't just live, but he's alive. He is living.
Since I've gone full canon up until now, I'll continue post-canon here: Stiles and Derek, we know how their story goes up till S6B. We know how much Stiles means to Derek and Derek to Stiles, even if it wasn't strictly said aloud in canon.
We know.
And I... well. I think that Stiles and Derek say it aloud. To each other. How much they matter to each other.
It might be during one of those high-tension missions, the pack preparing to fight against Monroe, making plans and doing everything they can. Stiles is planning, laying out rules and objectives and making sure to drill into one of them how important this is, and Derek watches him and he watches Lydia, the girl who has Stiles' heart. (Only she doesn't, and she knows it).
And then Stiles says he will come, too. But it's too dangerous.
Derek immediately objects.
Everyone goes deathly silent. Because Stiles is the one who is 100% capable of them all, who is the best on their side (being FBI does that, as does being part of ops like this since he was 16, even if Stiles wasn't as badass as he is now).
Stiles is angry.
"So, what, you wanna be the martyr, then? Is that what you want?"
Derek is angrier. (He is terrified).
"You'll get hurt!"
"I will not! Even if I do, it's my fucking job—I'll get hurt if it means keeping you all safe!"
"You can die!"
"So I will die!"
"No, Stiles, you will not. I—"
"What do you mean I will not—"
"—can't lose you too!"
Yes, this is total cliché, but I am a total simp for cliché so :D
And yeah, after? When they've defeated Monroe and are back to 'normal,' Derek and Stiles fill the parts of each other that they've lost over the years. They make a home for themselves. In each other, with each other.
(And okayyyyy, wow. I did not mean to get so into this but... here we are. I totally obsessed over this lol).
(Also this is a beautiful song, if a bit sad? Anyways, now I have a new song to listen to so thanks <3)

“Stop ignoring or sidelining Scott McCall when he is the true alpha and the main fucking character of Teen Wolf!”
LOL the fuck is Scott/Posey Stans’ problem https://scintalla.tumblr.com/post/650697822782586880/i-am-really-done-with-the-tw-fandom-i-mean-this
https://scintalla.tumblr.com/post/650260868277370880/scott-mccall-is-not-dumb
@scintalla:
I am really done with the TW fandom. I mean, this post isn’t about ALL fans of Teen Wolf but the majority have just ruined my experience in this fandom. Keep in mind that these are my opinions which I’m sharing and not a personal attack on anyone. So here’s why I’m fed up with both the fandom and even the show to an extent:
1) The hatred towards Scott McCall is just appalling. I genuinely can’t think of a reason why anyone would hate this precious ray of sunshine who is always trying to protect everyone. Like is a 16 year old and doesn’t know everything about being a werewolf the second he was bitten? *Lol, he’s so ‘dumb’.* Doesn’t immediately trust Derek because he has no reason to? *Poor Derek Scott is such a 'meanie’* Doesn’t abandon Allison the moment Derek tells him to because the latter is a stranger and Allison doesn’t even know about her family being hunters? *Everything is Scott’s 'fault’.* Makes a masterplan to defeat Gerard and save everyone? *Fandom shrugs and continues to make everything about Stiles* His ex girlfriend dies in his arms? *Fandom cries a tear and moves on to fawn on Void! Stiles* Saves everyone in the show, becomes the true alpha from the merit of his character *Fandom closes its eyes and fawns over one liners that Stiles threw* Literally dies and is attacked by his best friend for not saving his father when he was DEAD? *Poor Stiles, Scott is such a bad friend. Why can’t he just do everything according to how Stiles wants him to? Who cares that even Stiles himself trusted Theo and confided in him only about having to kill Donovan and never clarifies to Scott that he did it in self defense.* Like I can go on and on about how much of Scott’s trauma and pain are shrugged off because of fandom’s obsession with Stiles and even the show makes it appear as if it was Scott’s fault somehow that he died and couldn’t save Stiles’ father. I’m so tired. Tyler Posey was so good at playing Scott and his performance is ignored by 99.99% of the fandom.
2) KIRA YUKIMURA DESERVED BETTER! She was treated so badly by both the fandom AND the show! People were continually comparing her and Allison even though Allison was okay with Scott moving on and even teamed up with Kira in 'De- Void’ episode. And why can’t Scott move on? Allison wouldn’t have wanted Scott to mope over her forever. And Kira’s story and character development are thrown in trash and she isn’t even mentioned in season 6! Like, I’m not mad that she chose herself over Scott because it’s okay but they could have spent AT LEAST five minutes to talk about Kira and where she was and how she was doing. And the fandom’s unwarranted dislike of her even though the show had made it clear that she isn’t Allison’s 'replacement’ or whatever reasons people use to justify their hatred of her. Like she is a sweetheart, her relationship with Scott was cute and healthy and she doesn’t deserve any hate thrown towards her. Arden Cho portrayed her so well and I hate that she was treated like this by both fandom and writers of the show.
3) Malia Tate is treated so badly by the fandom that even I was surprised by the venom hurled towards her. Malia spent eight years as a coyote, so obviously she doesn’t know how to handle complex human emotions that even teenagers struggle with. And she does better than expected . She is not an 'unsupportive’, 'abusive’ girlfriend that toxic Stydia (i.e. not ALL stydia shippers, only the toxic ones) shippers make her out to be. She even figured out that Stiles had killed Donovan in self defense and said she didn’t judge him for it. And what did she get in return? She was ditched by her boyfriend for her efforts. And no, it’s not toxic that she was jealous of Lydia and Stiles because she was just dumped and wasn’t given closure over it, so obviously she isn’t going to be okay that her boyfriend was moving on so quickly. Like it’s not ideal but it’s not the worst thing. And even if you don’t ship stalia, you have no reason to hate on her. Just ship your ship and leave others who don’t agree with your personal opinion alone.
I haven’t even scratched the tip of the iceberg but these were the only ones that came to my mind. The blatant sexism and racism from the fans really saddens me and I wouldn’t be so mad if actors like Tyler Posey, Arden Cho, Shelley Hennig etc.. weren’t hated on for doing their literal jobs. Like, I’m not telling you to hate Stiles or Derek (which is impossible as it is when it comes to TW fandom) or tell you to stop shipping Sterek and Stydia (There’s nothing wrong with the ships inherently but I wish its stans weren’t so hell bent on making everything in TW about their ship). Only that you stop hating poc, female characters for no valid reasons and stop excusing your white faves’ problematic actions because they cried about it once or whatever. Like no wonder why white men are able to get away with the worst shit while poc and women suffer for no fault of theirs and hated on for things they can’t control; like their race or gender.
//
“I’M NOT TELLING YOU TO LIKE SCOTT AND HATE STILES AND DEREK” Antis screech at the top of their ragged lungs as they proceed to hate Stiles and Derek for daring to eclipse their whiny fav Scott from day one without even trying, throw a temper tantrum because everyone – including the whole Teen Wolf cast and their bitter flop fav Tyler Posey himself – prefers Stiles and Derek to Scott, and go out of their delusional way to twist and/or erase canon in order to blame Stiles and Derek for Scott’s own canonical toxic actions and behavior.
I also luv the way they try to paint Tyler Posey as a poor mistreated, sidelined, discriminated victim and pretend to give a shit about Arden Cho and Kira Yukimura as if Posey hasn’t been texting Jeff Davis begging his buddy to give him a job for the past five years and didn’t refer to Kira as “a good distraction for Scott”
@scintalla post is another proof that Scott Stans never watched an episode of the actual show:
“Scott makes a masterplan to defeat Gerard and saves everyone? Fandom shrugs and continues to make everything about Stiles”
Except that Scott didn’t save anyone in Master Plan – Stiles, Peter and Lydia did – and failed to kill Gerard. The only thing Scott achieved with his dumb excuse of a plan was prompting his buddy Gerard to order the Kanima to slaughter everyone in the warehouse, including Scott.
“His ex girlfriend dies in his arms? Fandom cries a tear and moves on to fawn over Void Stiles”
Did you notice how Scott/Posey Stans, just like Tyler Posey and Jeff Davis, try to make Allison’s heroic death all about Scott? Also: the Teen Wolf fandom can call the show writers out for shitting on Allison and making her heroic death all about her toxic ex boyfriend AND fawn over Stiles and Void Stiles at the same time. Just saying 😘
“Scott saves everyone in the show, becomes the true alpha from the merit of his character” Lmfao sure Jan! Like, everyone knows Jeff Davis came up with that true alpha nonsense last minute just to make his self insert Scott a little less irrelevant. But go off I guess
“Who cares that even Stiles himself trusted Theo and confided in Scott only about having to kill Donovan and never clarifies to Scott that he did it in self defense”
1) Stiles never trusted Theo. Theo himself had no problem admitting that Stiles was smart enough not to trust him. Unlike Scott, who fell for Theo’s cheap lies and got played by Theo like a cheap kazoo throughout Season 5 #Oops
2) Scott is neither Stiles’ dad, alpha, nor authority figure. Stiles is not obligated to share his traumas with a toxic friend if he doesn’t want to
3) Scott’s the one who yells “B-b-but it is not self defense anymore!” at Stiles in Lies of Omission
“I can go on and on about how much of Scott’s trauma and pain are shrugged off because of fandom’s obsession with Stiles… Tyler Posey was so good at playing Scott and his performance is ignored by 99.99% of the fandom”
If Scott/TP Stans are so butthurt that everyone is in love and obsessed with Stiles and Void Stiles instead of paying attention to superior true alpha Scott, then why don’t they take their jealousy and frustrations out on Posey? Tyler Posey is just as in love and obsessed with Dylan O’Brien, Stiles and Void Stiles as everyone else is (if not more.)
As for @scintalla & Scott McCall defense squad circle jerk whining and throwing a tantrum cause “Posey’s performance got ignored”, well… they should be fucking grateful everyone – including critics, fans, viewers, the whole Teen Wolf cast, and Posey himself – were too busy praising and gushing all over Star & Breakout Star of the show Dylan O’Brien’s phenomenal acting talent to pay attention to Tyler Posey’s cringe worthy attempts at acting

“you make every excuse under the sun to erase his more abusive tendencies” That’s exactly what you and your Trump stanning Scott McCall defense squad friends do on a daily basis, though. You make every excuse under the sun to erase Scott’s canonical abusive tendencies and behavior, and use his canonically nonexistent Mexican heritage to silence anyone who points out his canonical flaws and negative traits. I agree with you on one thing though: there would be no Teen Wolf without Stiles and Derek
Here we are, once again, with your complete (and deliberate) misunderstanding of a fundamental difference between what I said and what you want to hear.
You cite Scott hitting Isaac, or Jackson, or doing the whole mind-meld thingy with Corey, or yelling at Allison as abusive tendencies, all while removing any semblance of context, of course, and then blatantly confuse what I do as "making excuses."
You see, I'm not "making excuses", I'm offering explanations.
Why did Scott hit Isaac? You say it was because he was petty and jealous, and completely ignore the fact that Scott was losing control following the ritual to awaken the Nemeton. He was facing his own set of circumstances and hardships, the same as Allison and Stiles.
Why did Scott hit Jackson? Could it be the fact that he was being mind-controlled by Matt to assault Allison? Or are you referring to the time when he threatened Jackson into taking Allison to the winter formal to protect her? Because, I gotta say, if Stiles had been in Scott's shoes and Jackson had treated him like that, you would be praising him all day long for finally putting that spoiled pretty boy in his place.
Why did Scott yell at Allison? Could it have been the fact they were losing control of the situation and he didn't want anyone else to die?
Why did Scott do that to Corey? Could it have been that he was desperate to stop the Dread Doctors from harming anyone else while simultaneously watching his pack fall apart due to Theo's machinations?
You sit there and try to paint Scott as this abusive monster while removing any context of the situation surrounding those events in an effort to support your false narrative. Simultaneously, you use the reverse tactics to absolve Derek or Stiles or Peter of their crimes, big or small, proving that you do understand context, but only when it suits your purposes. When Derek recruited literal children to his war in an effort to feel powerful, you cite his past trauma. When Stiles attacked Scott at the hospital, you cite his heightened emotional state because of his dad's injuries. When Peter killed people, some of whom had absolutely nothing to do with the Hale fire, you cite his unstable mental state because of said fire.
Do you see the double-standard?
And this is why we bring up the subject of racism. Because you have a set of standards for Stiles or Derek or Peter, but a complete different set of standards when it comes to Scott or Deaton. Why is that? Why are you able to understand context and circumstances for a white character that does a thing, but then completely disregard that understanding when a character of color does a similar thing? How often is Deaton painted as a secret villain for being mysterious and keeping secrets, when Peter is praised and loved for similar things, often for his own gain as opposed to for the greater good?
Just because you're not calling Scott and Deaton slurs, doesn't mean its not racism.
Final note: there would be no Teen Wolf without Stiles or Derek. You're not wrong. Without Derek to antagonize Scott and act as a nefarious figure for the first two seasons, how would the plot have moved forward? Without Stiles to offer completely morally corrupt advice for Scott to ignore, how would Scott have become the hero he did? You try to twist my words against me (badly, I might add) while completely missing the point, in that Scott, the hero and titular teen wolf, became who he was despite the urging for more violence by those around him, not because of them.

There’s a specific group of Scott Stans (the Scott McCall Defense Squad bunch) that desperately cling to this idea that “if anything happened to Scott, Stiles would immediately drop everything and fly himself home powered by sheer rage on his alpha’s behalf” and only tolerates Stiles when they rewrite him as Scott’s own personal attack dog. The most hilarious thing though – besides Scott fans using a neurodivergent character they are clearly unhealthily obsessed with and claim to despise to make Scott “relevant”, that is – is that I never saw Stiles being angry, or full of rage, or attacking anyone on Scott’s behalf in the actual show.
Stiles is very protective of werewolves in general and threatened people over Lydia, over Malia, over Allison, over his father, over his mother, over Cora, over Isaac, Erica and Boyd, and he openly confronted the Argents on what Kate and Gerard did to Derek and to the Hale Pack/Family. But he NEVER expressed rage, or hatred, or resentment on Scott’s behalf specifically in canon.
When Theo murders Scott in Teen Wolf Season 5, no one even notices (nor gives a shit) that Scott died. And when Liam brings Theo back from Hell in Teen Wolf Season 6, the only one who shows any kind of hatred, rage, resentment, contempt, and still holds a grudge against Theo for playing Scotty like a fiddle and for successfully putting Scotty into an early grave is… Scotty himself.
Everyone else either didn’t particularly care about Scott and put saving Stiles above Scott’s bruised ego and temper tantrums, or was angry at Theo for what Theo did to them and to their loved ones – Malia on Stiles, Lydia and Kira’s behalf, Liam on his, Mason and Hayden’s behalf, Stiles on Lydia, Malia, Kira, Liam and his father’s behalf, etc.
Meanwhile, Scott McCall…
(06x06, “Ghosted”)
SCOTT [to Theo]: I hope you realize it’s taking all of my strength to not tear you in half right now!
(06x07, “Heartless”)
SCOTT: [furiously] He’s going back into the ground!
LIAM: You can’t! He remembers Stiles!
MALIA: Scott remembers Stiles. Lydia and I remember Stiles.
LIAM: The Dread Doctors knew all about the Wild Hunt. He can help us.
SCOTT: [yelling] Or he could kill us!
LIAM: Theo is my responsibility. Noshiko gave me the sword.
HAYDEN: You both are right. If Theo tries anything, we’ll send him back to the Skinwalkers. But, for right now—
SCOTT: [yelling] He goes back now!
THEO: [smug] Except Liam’s the one with the sword.
*Scott grabs Liam and drags him into the living room to talk, leaving Malia, Lydia, Hayden and Theo in the back room*
LIAM: What? You don’t trust me?
SCOTT: I don’t trust him! Do you?!
LIAM: No. But I think we can use him.
SCOTT: [yelling] Remember who Theo is! He got into your head and you tried to kill me! And when that didn’t work, he did kill me! And Tracy, and Josh, and his sister!
LIAM: But this might be our only chance to get Stiles back.
SCOTT: [whiny] Can’t we just try to find somebody that we at least trust?
LIAM: This might be a mistake, but you don’t know that yet. And you made a lot of mistakes when you were learning to be an alpha.
SCOTT: Yeah, I made a lot… But we don’t have time for mistakes! I can’t lose Stiles!
LIAM: So we should try anything we can to save him. Right? Even Theo.
SCOTT: Convince me.
LIAM: I can put him back in the ground any time.
THEO: You also need a transformer that can handle five billion joules of electricity. I know where to find one, and I can show you how it works. I’ll tell you if Malia promises not to kill me.
LYDIA: She promises.
MALIA: No, I don’t.
MALIA [to Hayden]: We’re really gonna do this? Trust him?
HAYDEN: You got a better idea?
MALIA: I’ve got an idea. It may not be better… But at least it’s not him.
So yeah. Scott/Posey extremists’ “twue alpaha Scott is the center of everyone’s universe and their main priority, and if Peter Hale killed Scott, Stiles would be utterly devastated and should despise Peter and the Hales on Scott’s behalf” self insert power fantasy has 0 basis in canon.
I mean, yes, if Peter Hale had actually succeeded in killing Scott in Teen Wolf Season 4, Stiles would have been sad (because Stiles is a good, empathetic Bambi eyed hero with a heart of gold who keeps putting up with Scott’s bullshit even if he doesn’t have to.) But then Stiles would move on just like everyone else and finally realize how much better and happier he is without such a toxic, abusive friend in his life.
Lydia, Stiles, Malia, Liam, Kira Jackson, Danny, Chris and Mason would definitely join the Hale Pack. Cora has made it absolutely clear that she despises Scott and wants to be Stiles’ new BFF; and Peter is just waiting for the right, vulnerable moment to offer Stiles the Bite again because, as Peter Hale shamelessly admits in S6, he literally NEVER stopped fantasizing about turning-Mate biting Stiles. All the Cora, Stiles, Lydia & Kira’s ride or die friendship, Hale Pack feelings, and Spark/Emissary Stiles and Dark Stiles/Void Stiles’ unleashed potential ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can’t really comment on S4-6 since I didn’t watch it aside from some clips of Peter, Noah, and Chris. (Noah going to town and bringing out the Johnny Cage??? Hello Sheriff!) But yeah, I can’t really give much insight on those seasons but I think characterisation went downhill after 3B anyway, so I’m not surprised by inconsistencies.
I will say this, I don’t believe Peter would give Stiles the bite without consent. For all Peter’s faults, he’s not someone who would force himself on people like that. I honestly think Scott was an outlier, maybe even an accident in a way. But that is merely speculation.
Would he manipulate Stiles or try to convince him? Yeah, let’s be real, this is Peter. So he would try and convince him. But if Stiles continually says no? It stays no.
It is an interesting thought though, what would have happened if Peter had turned someone else that night?
I think my favorite speculations are Noah Stilinski (the Sheriff) or even Chris Argent. And Chris hiding it because he doesn’t want to leave his daughter behind. I think that would be extraordinarily interesting.

for @laurahale-appreciation week’s day one theme: Laura Didn’t Die
this is my first year not adding on to that one notfic i started in 2016, haha, but i have finally deemed that one finished so i had to come up with something else (very last minute, because who would i be if i was not a procrastinating mess?)
| 1.4k | Gen | Canon AU | Laura Didn’t Die | Laura & Scott | Scott Asks For The Bite |
(also on AO3)
---
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
Scott resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Stiles, beside him, didn’t bother restraining himself.
“Yes,” Scott said patiently. “I want to do this.”
Laura bit her lip, toe tapping against the floor. Derek had his arms crossed and his attention focused elsewhere, apparently still peeved that his sister was even considering this. He had tried just about everything to get them to go home and stay out of it, but that just wasn’t how they worked. If there was a mystery to be solved, Stiles would be there with bells on, and no amount of growling and threatening from Derek was going to stop him.
As for Scott, well…
“I want this.” Scott tried to inject every ounce of sincerity he could into it. “You saved my life, Laura. If I could have the power to save even one other person—”
“So that’s why you want it?” Derek cut in. “You want power?”
Stiles surged forward, fully intending to say something that was going to get his ass kicked. Scott grabbed his arm and yanked him back before the words could escape. At Scott’s raised eyebrow, Stiles huffed and fell back, meeting Derek’s glare with dagger-eyes of his own. With bloodshed no longer imminent, Scott turned his attention back to Laura.
“What I want,” he said, “is to be able to run a mile without my own lungs trying to kill me. I want to be able to protect myself from monsters like Peter. And I want to be able to protect others from them too.”
“Others like Allison?” Laura asked. Beside her, Derek snarled like the mere idea of Allison personally offended him, but Laura’s face was impassive, her tone neutral.
“Like Allison,” Scott said. “Like Stiles. Like my mom, and Stiles’ dad, and Dr. Deaton. Like you guys.”
Surprise broke through Laura’s poker face. “Like us?”
Scott shrugged, shifting on his feet. “Well, yeah. You’ve been shot at an awful lot in the last few weeks.”
“We’ve noticed,” Derek said flatly.
Scott ignored his tone, and Stiles bristling at it. “It just seems like you’ve got a lot of enemies. Like you could use all the help you can get.”
Laura surveyed him again, more carefully this time. “You know that if you took the bite, our enemies would become your enemies. All of those hunters? They’d be gunning for you too. Literally.”
It wasn’t a comfortable thought. Even without being a direct player, Scott had already seen more blood in the last week than he had in months of working at the vet clinic. Watching Laura dig the bullet out of Derek’s black-veined arm and force burning ash into the wound while he screamed ranked very highly on Scott’s list of most traumatic memories.
But even worse was the gnawing fear in his stomach of what would happen if Peter came after him again. Or if he went after Stiles next, or Allison. Sprinting through the woods with his lungs spasming and the thump of clawed feet at his back, racing death on two fronts and helpless against both of them, was so much worse than the threat of a few measly bullets that he would be better equipped to dodge or heal from anyway.
Scott looked Laura in the eye and said, “I know the risks. And I’m willing to take them.”
“Even if they lose you your girlfriend?” Derek asked, mouth twisting around the words like they were distasteful. “She’s an Argent, Scott. She would never be okay with—”
“You don’t know that,” Scott said through gritted teeth. “You don’t know her.”
“I know what happens a dumb kid thinks he knows something about ‘love’ and—”
Laura said Derek’s name. It was quiet, but firm, and enough to pull him up short mid-word. They shared a moment of eye contact, unspoken words being exchanged in a way that Scott was very familiar with; he and Stiles could have whole conversations without making a single noise. In the end, Derek shook his head sharply and walked away, letting the charred remainder of the Hale house’s front door slam behind him on the way out.
Laura let him go. “Don’t let him get to you,” she said. “He means well, I promise.”
“Funny way of showing it,” Stiles grumbled. “Asshole.”
A sharp growl reminded him that it was Laura’s little brother he was insulting. He had the good sense to look chastened, at least, though he didn’t take it back.
“Look,” Scott said, drawing her attention back to him. “I get why he’s worried. But I honestly don’t think Allison’s a threat. She’s not like her family, and not just because she doesn’t even know what it is they’re doing. You’ve been watching her, haven’t you? What do you think?”
Laura let out a long, slow breath. “I think...that she’s a sweet, normal-ish girl who has no idea what she’s caught up in. And I don’t think any of us knows how she’ll react to finding out. Not even her. Are you sure you want to risk putting yourself in her crosshairs if she goes the way of her aunt?”
“Don’t you think she might react more favorably if she finds out from us instead of from Kate?”
Laura cocked her head to the side in a gesture that Scott couldn’t help but recognize as very canine. He was pretty sure that Derek would teleport back into the house just to rip his head off if he said as much out loud, though, so he kept the observation to himself.
“You may have a point,” the alpha allowed. “And you sound like you’ve really thought this decision through.”
A tentative, hopeful smile tugged at Scott’s lips. “I have. I promise.”
Sharp blue eyes cut over to Stiles. “And what about you?”
Stiles looked over his shoulder. When there was no one back there that Laura could’ve been addressing instead, he said, “Who, me? Oh, hell no. This is all Scott. I am very much not interested in the whole chompy-bitey thing.” He mimed sinking his teeth into something. “I’m just here for moral support.”
Scott bumped their shoulders together, immensely grateful that Stiles was there, even if he did make a habit of antagonizing the already antagonistic brother of the alpha. Stiles bumped him back, grinning.
“Good,” Laura said, and she even sounded like she meant it, despite the very judgmental look on her face. “He’ll need it. The first month or two after the bite are...rough, to say the least.”
Stiles’ eyes widened with alarm. “How rough are we talking, exactly?”
Laura just smiled at him. Scott was a little surprised there were no actual fangs involved, but that wasn’t his biggest concern.
“Wait,” he said. “Does that mean you’ll do it? You’ll give me the bite?”
“You’re a good candidate for it,” Laura told him. “You’re young and strong. You’ll benefit more than most from it. You’re cognizant of the risks and have had time to process them and make your decision with a clear head. And you sound like you’re doing it for the right reasons.”
“So that’s a yes?” Stiles pressed.
“It’s a yes.”
Stiles let out a whoop of excitement. His air-punch almost knocked Scott upside the head, but Scott had years of practice with dodging his best friend’s wild gesticulations. He fought back a cheer of his own, a thrill running through him that was equal parts excitement and trepidation.
“So, like...now?” he asked.
“As good a time as any.” Laura tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, looking a little nervous for the first time since Scott had met her. “I should probably warn you that I haven’t actually done this before. Not that it’s hard or anything!” she hastened to say. “It’s kind of hard to fuck up a bite. I just mean that… Well, it’s a big first for me. For any alpha.”
Scott offered her his warmest smile. “I’m sure you’ll do great. And, hey, it’ll be my first time getting bitten. So we can be bite-virgins together!”
The groan Stiles let out was long and loud, but it wasn’t enough to cover up the much more gratifying sound that was Laura’s snort of laughter.
“That was terrible,” she said. “I am already rethinking this decision.”
“No, you’re not.”
Laura’s smile was warm too, and a little mischievous. “No. I’m not.”

Allison pulled her bolt cutters from where she was hiding them behind her back and snipped at the chain holding the front doors to Beacon Hills First National closed. Olivia quickly grabbed the chain before it could fall to the ground and make any nose, alerting the alpha pack that someone was breaking into the bank. The last thing they needed was to get caught right away; that wouldn't make a very successful mission.
Olivia and Allison nodded at each other before they opened one of the doors and slipped into the abandoned building. It was very dark inside, which made it hard to see, but at least the subtle glare of the full moon provided a little light to guide them around. The bank was just as Olivia saw in Isaac's memories, dusty and deserted. The lobby was full of mishappen furniture that was thrown about, including chairs, desks, and teller counters that would have been nice once upon a time. The whole feel of it gave Olivia the creeps—and it didn't help that the full moon was starting to affect the werewolves in her life.
She could feel five different struggles in her mind, each belonging to the werewolves she considered pack. It was a little distracting, having to feel a loss of control while having no side effects from the moon herself. She had to make sure that she wasn't focusing on her pack but on what she was involved in. If she didn't focus, she would lose control and act like she did in the classroom on the first day of school. She wouldn't be able to do anything and she wouldn't be able to have Allison's back or protect herself—not that she could do much fighting, anyway.
She clenched her fists as she and Allison walked through the lobby, dodging the old furniture, and made their way back to hallway that would lead to the offices. They passed a couple of file cabinets on the way, but they were only a quarter of the way through the hallway when someone attacked.
Allison was quick to defend them, drawing one of her ring daggers and blocking the woman who had pushed them. Unfortunately, Allison was too caught off guard and Olivia was practically useless in defending themselves; the woman pushed both of them up against the wall.
It was then that Olivia saw exactly who it was that attacked them.
"Ms. Morrell?" she breathed in confusion. She was the guidance counselor, for crying out loud. Lydia and Stiles literally had appointments with her every week. What the hell was she doing in the alpha pack's den?
"Keep your mouths shut and listen close," Ms. Morrell warned them. "You have no idea what you two just stepped into. Right now, you've got maybe twenty seconds to get your asses hidden."
"What are you doing?" Allison asked.
"Get in that storage closet over there and lock the door," Ms. Morrel nodded at the door behind Olivia and to the right. "When you hear the fighting start, that's when you come out."
"There isn't supposed to be fighting," Olivia stated; their plan was for her to calm down Boyd and the girl and get them out of there before the alpha pack even knew they were there.
"You're wrong," Ms. Morrel said. "You'll hear it. Now go!"
Ms. Morrell let go of Olivia and Allison and ran out of the hallway. They didn't waste any time as they rushed toward the storage closet and entered the room, quietly shutting the door behind them. It was pitch black in the room and as expected, the light switch didn't work. They were blind for the moment.
And then they heard the multiple sets of footsteps. Realizing what was happening at the same time, they both nudged each other away from the door and held their breath, hoping that the oncoming alphas wouldn't be able to hear them.
That didn't exactly take care of their scents, though.
As the footsteps started to pass by the closet, Allison knocked over a jug of cleaner. Olivia didn't know exactly what it was but it sure smell strong enough to hide their scents. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too suspicious that there was a strong chemical smell coming from the closet out of nowhere. It was a storage closet, though, so who knew.
Nothing happened, though. They weren't caught. When the footsteps faded away until they were sure no one would come back, Allison shredded her jacket and placed it on the puddle of cleaner, hoping to dilute the scent that burned their nostrils. Olivia quickly pulled her phone from her own jacket and turned on the flashlight; now there was enough light to at least get their bearings.
However, when Olivia spotted something out of the corner of her eye, she wished she wouldn't have turned the light on at all. When the beam of light hit Erica's body, her stomach heaved and her chest tightened. Her eyes stung as she looked at her former packmate; her body was already decomposing, her skin chalk white with spots of decay here and there.
"Oh, my God," she breathed shakily. She grabbed Allison's offered hand and squeezed it with all of her might, trying not to freak out and blow the whole operation.
Erica was only two months older than her. She spent most of her life without friends and riddled with seizures that brought her self-confidence down to the negatives. When she was given the bite, she was okay for less than a month before she was being hunted down by the Argents. She didn't get to live the life she deserved and it made Olivia sick to her stomach. Erica was good. She was good and she deserved better than what she got.
She hastily wiped her wet face with the back of the hand that held her phone. It was no use, more tears were already slipping down her cheeks. She felt like a piece of her was missing and she couldn't believe that she hadn't even known that Erica was killed because it was clear that it had been more than a couple of weeks that her body had been in the closet.
"I'm so sorry, Liv," Allison squeezed her hand in comfort. She hadn't been friends with Erica like Olivia had been but it was still upsetting to see her dead. They were classmates and had Erica been on the right side of things, maybe they would have been friends. They'd never know now.

Stiles stared out the huge window in Derek's loft, staring at the full moon in the sky. It had been maybe an hour since Olivia, Derek, and Scott left but he was already impatient for them to get back. He didn't like waiting, especially when his girlfriend and best friend were risking their lives at the moment.
"I can't take waiting around like this, you know?" he spoke aloud, hoping that Peter would understand his worry. "It's nerve-racking. My nerves are racked. They're severely racked. Racked."
Why would Peter care, though? It wasn't like his own daughter and nephew were in danger. "I could beat you unconscious and wake you when it's over."
Stiles rolled his eyes and turned away from the window, facing Peter where he was laying on the couch. "Do you think that Erica's really dead?"
"Do you think I really care?"
Stiles quickly moved on and changed the subject as he started pacing around the loft. "I just, I don't understand the bank, though, okay? What—like, why wouldn't they chain them up in some underground lair or something? They're an alpha pack, right, so shouldn't they have a lair?"
"They're werewolves, not Bond villains."
"Wait a sec, wait a sec," Stiles turned back to him. "Maybe they're living there, you know? Like, maybe the bank vault reminds them of their little wolf dens."
Peter opened his eyes and stared at him blankly. "Wolf dens?"
"Yeah, wolf dens," Stiles nodded. "Where do you live?"
Suffice to say, his girlfriend's father hadn't exactly invited him around for dinner.
"In an underground network of caves hidden deep in the woods."
Maybe that was why. "Woah, really?"
"No, you idiot," Peter rolled his eyes. "I have an apartment downtown."
Stiles almost felt a little disappointed. "Okay, fine, but still, that just proves that there's something up with the bank," he pointed out. "And why wait around for the full moon, huh? Why not just kill them whenever they want to?"
"Maybe they think it's poetic," Peter suggested casually.
He shook his head. "They've already had three full moons to be poetic."
"And here, you've only had one full hour to be so annoying..."
Stiles waited for him to go on complaining about him but he didn't. "No, go ahead and finish what you were saying. I'm—I'm annoying...What were you gonna say there?"
Peter didn't rise to his challenge. "What are the walls made of?"
"What?" Confused, Stiles looked around the loft. "Uh, I don't know, like, wood and brick, or—"
"No, the vault, the vault," Peter jumped up from the coach and headed over to the bank's blueprints that were still spread out on the table. "the walls, what are they made out of? Where would it say that?" he went through the various pages of plans. "This doesn't say anything. Where would it say the materials, the type of stone?"
"Oh! Okay, hang on," Stiles rushed over to the table and searched for the binder that held the details of the build; when he finally found it, he handed it over to the werewolf. "Here, it's gotta be in there."
He looked carefully as Peter swiped through the pages, looking for what kind of stone they used for the vault. When they finally came to the page that held the details for the vault, Stiles discovered the section of materials.
"There," Stiles pointed to the section. "That's it."
"Hecatolite," Peter read.
"Is that awful? That sounds awful."
"Get them on the phone," Peter demanded. "Call them, now."
"Okay," Stiles scrambled for his phone and quickly started dialing Scott. "why?"
"Because Boyd and that girl aren't gonna kill each other, they're gonna kill Derek and Scott."
Panic raising in his chest, Stiles pressed his phone to his ear and was relieved when Scott picked up.
"Stiles, now is not the best time."
"Scott, Scott!" he exclaimed frantically. "No, listen to me, okay? Look, you gotta get out of there. Look, the walls of the vault are made with a mineral called Hecatolite. It scatters the moonlight."
"What does that mean?"
"It keeps the moonlight out, okay? They haven't felt the full moon in months."
"Okay, think of it like the gladiators in the Roman colosseum," Peter took over explaining. "They used to starve the lions for three days, making them more vicious, more out of control. Deucalion has kept them from shifting for three full moons, diminishing their tolerance to it."
"Scott, they're gonna be stronger—"
"More savage, more bloodthirsty," Peter cut him off. "Scott, they're the lions. They're the starved lions and you and Derek just stepped into the colosseum."
"Derek, we have a problem," they heard Scott say. "A really big problem."
Then came Derek's surprised voice. "Cora?"
"Who?"
Stiles looked at Peter, wondering if he knew a Cora. The shocked look on his face made him think that he did.
"Cora?"
"Derek, get out," a female voice came from the other line. "Get out now!"
"Scott," Stiles spoke again, hoping to get Scott's attention. "Hey, Scott! Scott, are you hearing this?"
Vicious growling started out on the other line and they could hear the fighting start.
"Scott?!"
The dial tone started beeping.
-
-
The fighting started not long after Olivia and Allison discovered Erica's body. They waited only five minutes before they set out of the closet, afraid that they were run into any members of the alpha pack on their way to the vault.
From the loud growling, the vicious roars, and the painted grunting, Scott and Derek had to have been having a bad time in that vault. The crashing and bangs didn't bode well for them, either.
Olivia had to get in there, now.
She and Allison were quick getting to the vault. Olivia was quick to notice the circle of mountain ash on the floor and that was good and bad. It was bad because Derek and Scott couldn't get out of the vault but it was good because neither could the girl or Boyd. Believe it or not, it was safer for Beacon Hills if Boyd and the girl were contained in one place. It wasn't so good for Derek and Scott, though.
"Look out!" Allison yelled as Olivia jumped over the seal and into the vault. Derek and Scott jumped out of the way as the mystery girl and Boyd lunged for them.
Boyd hit his target with Scott, digging his claws into his stomach and rising him up into the air. Scott grunted and searched for the strength to get out of Boyd's hold but he was unable to fight back.
"Boyd!" Olivia rushed to a stop and held out her hands toward her large packmate. He was seething and out of control as he turned away from an injured Scott to glare at her. "Boyd, control yourself!"
He roared a her, furious. Honestly, it scared Olivia more than a little bit. For some reason, Boyd was more out of control than usual and she didn't know if she could do anything about it. Yeah, she had been practicing with her abilities and they've grown stronger but Boyd was only with her for a month. She didn't even know the girl, so it'd be hard to do anything to her.
Then Olivia was on the ground, a girl her age hovering over her. The breath was knocked out of her chest and she was pretty sure she was going to die but when she took a look at the girl's face, time seemed to stop.
She knew who the mystery girl was now and she couldn't believe it. Cora, her cousin who was born only a year before her, was supposed to have died in the fire. That's what they all assumed when she didn't show up after the disaster that ravished the Hale house and killed Olivia's aunt and mother, along with other members of the pack. They hadn't seen her for six and a half years and now, all of a sudden, here she was, trapped in a bank vault by the alpha pack.
How had she even survived?
"Cora?" she breathed in shock. "You're alive."
Cora's face only slight softened as she realized exactly who she had tackled. She didn't really get to think on it further when Derek plowed into her, knocking her off their cousin and onto the floor.
"Ollie, go!"
Olivia hurriedly got up and backed away from her cousins, heading toward Boyd and Scott. She said nothing, as to not give away her position, and slapped her hand onto Boyd's back. Her gaze was tinted purple as she concentrated all of her energy into calming Boyd down so he wouldn't end up killing Scott.
"Come on, Boyd."
He was fighting her and it was hard to get a hold of him. Just as she was only a second away from reaching him and getting him into control, Derek called out, "No, don't break the seal!"
Her concentration lost, she looked over at Allison just as the taller brunette crouched down to break the mountain ash barrier.
"Boyd!" Allison called, getting the beta's attention.
As Boyd let go of Scott, Olivia tried to wrap her hands around his huge arm. "BOYD!"
Boyd only faltered for a long second before Allison broke the barrier. He ripped away from her grasp and sped out of the vault, Cora on his tail. Olivia stared after them in belief; she was so close to getting to Boyd.
Derek angrily stormed out of the vault and grabbed Allison's arm.
"Don't touch her!" Scott pushed him away as he and Olivia approached.
"What were you thinking?" Derek growled at her.
"That I had to do something," Allison shot back."
Scott immediately jumped to Allison's defense. "She saved our lives."
But she could have put many more in danger, Olivia thought to herself. She didn't blame Allison for what she did; if she were in her shoes and was watching Stiles get beaten up by a raving werewolf, she'd break the seal too.
"Yeah and what do you think they're gonna do out there?" Derek brought up the point that Olivia made in her head. "Do you have any idea what you just set free?"
"You want to blame me?" Allison scoffed in disbelief, her eyes narrowed into daggers. "Well, I'm not the one turning teenagers into killers."
"No, that's just the rest of your family," Derek retorted.
It was totally not the time but Olivia was impressed by Derek's comeback. Until now, none of Derek's betas had been bloodthirsty or out of control. Allison couldn't say the same about herself or her family of hunters.
Allison slumped a little at his comment, seeming to know that Derek's words weren't exactly a lie. "I made mistakes," she admitted. "Gerard is not my fault."
"And what about your mother?"
"Derek!" Olivia hissed at her cousin. Did he really have to bring that up at a time like this? They needed to be out there looking for Boyd and Cora.
Allison, however, wanted to know what Derek meant. "What do you mean?"
Derek turned to Scott with a daring look. "Tell her, Scott."
"What does he mean, Scott?" Allison's voice trembled. "What does he mean?"
Scott looked hesitant to tell her and Olivia guessed that it was because she and Derek were with them. If it was her telling Allison about her mother's actions before she died, she wouldn't want Derek around to butt in with scathing and insensitive comments—even if Victoria Argent deserved them, Allison didn't.
"Derek," Olivia spoke up, catching her cousin's attention. "We found Erica. We should—we should go and get her."
Derek's face crumpled as he seemed to realize what Olivia meant. Her heart ached as she took his arm and clutched it tightly before leading him away from Scott and Allison. They slowly walked down from the second level and to the hallway that held the storage closet she and Allison hid from the alphas in.
"She's dead..."
"Yeah," Olivia confirmed quietly, her eyes starting to sting with tears. "From the...her body looks more than a couple of weeks old."
She wanted to prepare him; he would take the loss of Erica harder since she was his beta. Even for her, the loss of a packmate was hard. It was like losing a limb; it still felt like Erica was there but when she reached out to find her, the blonde wasn't there to meet her.
Derek tightened his grip on Olivia as they entered the storage closet. He completely shocked Olivia when he faltered after laying his eyes on Erica's body. Derek was literally the strongest person she knew so it was tough to see him in such grief. He wasn't quite as bad as when most of their family died but it was still hard.
"This is all my fault," he whispered, taking in the decay of her body.
"No, it's not," Olivia insisted. "It's not, Derek. The alpha pack did this, not you."
"I was the one who turned her."
"And you didn't know it would turn out like this," Olivia bit the inside of her cheek. "Derek, please...please believe me. This isn't on you and Erica...Erica wouldn't want you to think that way, either."
Derek shook his head and slowly let go of Olivia before taking the few steps toward Erica's body. In one swift movement, he picked Erica up and cradled her in his arms. It was so heartbreaking for Olivia to see the pure guilt and grief he felt on display. It almost hurt worse than the grief she felt for Erica.
"Come on," Derek's voice was hoarse.
They slowly walked back to the vault where Allison and Scott still stood together, discussing what really went on the night that Derek bit Victoria Argent. They arrived just as Scott was finishing, telling Allison that he couldn't have the memory of her mother trying to kill him be the last memory she ever had of her.
The both of them turned when they noticed that Olivia and Derek had arrived with Erica's body. Allison frowned sadly while Scott's face crumpled; Olivia could tell that he was very upset with Erica's fate and while it didn't make much sense because he and Erica weren't very close, it was Scott. He felt for people so deeply that his reaction didn't really surprise Olivia.
Derek cleared his throat. "We'll come back for her after we catch Cora and Boyd," he stepped into the vault and gently laid down her body before turning back to Scott. "Are you ready?"
Olivia swallowed down the lump in her throat and spoke up, "If I can concentrate, I think I'll be able to find Boyd."
Derek nodded at her and then looked back at Scott. "You go after Boyd and I'll try to find Cora. Olivia, you give Scott any information that you find. I'll Isaac and Peter and get them to help. We need to get to them before they hurt anyone."
Olivia and Scott nodded in unison at him. "Let's do this."
-
Olivia sat at a picnic table just outside of the campground part of the reserve, her hands clasped and her eyes closed. She was deep inside her head with her focus on Boyd, mentally following him around Beacon Hills. It took a lot of energy to keep on him but she didn't have a choice. It was either this so Scott could find him, or let innocent people die. Cora had already tried to terrorize the drive-in if Derek hadn't stepped in but unfortunately, she ran off before he could catch her.
Apparently, she was much faster than Derek when she went without feeling the full moon for three full months.
She sighed when she felt Boyd take off again; she had given Scott his last location but he must have lost him.
Sure enough, Scott was calling her. Her focus now gone, she answered the phone and looked up at Derek as he made his way over to her. She put the call on speakerphone—even though he could hear it fine—just in case he wanted to talk to Scott.
"Scott?"
"Hey," Scott greeted her breathlessly. "I lost Boyd."
"You lost him?" Derek asked, disappointed.
"Yeah, I kind of had to."
"That wasn't exactly the plan."
"I know, which is why I think that we should stick together," Scott stated. "Trust me, he's too strong, too fast, and way too angry for one person to handle. We've got to do this together."
"Scott, we're at the edge of the preserve campground," Olivia spoke up, exchanging a look with Derek. "Can you meet us here?"
"Yeah," Scott confirmed. "I just got to drop something off first."
Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "What are you talking about?"
"I'll fill you in later. See ya soon."
Olivia ended the call and locked her phone, setting it on the table before looking up at Derek. "This is a nightmare."
"No kidding..."
Olivia winced as her hearing cut off and a loud scream took its place. This had happened only a half-hour earlier but this one was much more severe and terrifying. The first time she didn't even know where it came from but as the scream died down now, the whispers started.
Lydia's there, she heard. A picture of the community pool flashed through her mind, leaving a searing ache behind. Lydia, Lydia, Lydia. She found him. She found him. Lydia, Lydia, Lydia.
What the actual hell?
"Ollie, are you okay?" her hearing came back all at once. She grimaced at her sensitivity and opened her eyes, seeing Derek's worried face hovering over her. "Ollie, can you hear me?"
"I can hear you," she croaked; for some reason, her throat felt sore.
"You screamed," he told her, crossing his arms over his chest. "What happened?"
She hadn't known that she screamed. Why did she? Was that Lydia who screamed in her head? That's what the whispers seemed to imply. If Lydia was the one who screamed, how did she hear it and why did she scream too?
"I heard screaming and Lydia's name," she hurriedly picked up her phone and tried to call Lydia. As she pressed her ear to her phone, she added, "She found something but I don't know what. I don't know what's going on."
To her disappointment, Lydia didn't answer. The line beeped rapidly, informing Olivia that Lydia's phone was currently busy. She hung up the call and tried Stiles; she couldn't leave to go check on Lydia, so he would have to.
"Olivia, are you okay?" Stiles picked up almost immediately. "No one called me after and I was afraid someone got to you guys. Are you okay? Did Boyd kill you? Who is Cora, by the way? Tell me what happened. Is everyone all right?"
"Stiles," Olivia interrupted; as much as she thought his rambling was cute, now wasn't really the time to indulge him. "We're all okay. Boyd and Cora got out but Derek, Isaac, and Scott are out looking for them now."
"Okay, good," Stiles sighed in relief. "So, who's Cora?"
"She's my cousin, Derek's little sister—"
"Derek has a little sister?"
"Yes and we thought she died in the fire—"
"You thought she was dead? How the fuck is she here now?"
"We have no idea, Stiles. All we know is that she's alive and she's been with Boyd for months," Olivia answered. "but that's not why I called you."
"What's up?"
"I need you to check on Lydia. Something happened and I heard her scream—"
"How did you hear her scream? Is she with you?"
"No, she's not," if he didn't quit interrupting her... "Look, she's at the community pool. Can you please go check on her?"
"Of course I will. I'll go right now," Stiles confirmed. "I love you, be safe."
"Love you, too," Olivia stated. "Call me when you get to her."
"I will. Bye."
Olivia ended the call and turned to Derek once again. He was looking back at her with a half-irritated, half-amused look. Clearly, he had heard the whole call.
He shook his head. "I can't believe you're dating him."
-
-
The tires of the jeep squealed as it came to an abrupt stop next to Lydia's car. Stiles quickly ripped off his seatbelt and threw himself out of the vehicle in order to get to Lydia. From the way Olivia's voice trembled when she spoke about her cousin, and the fact that Lydia had called him in a panic over finding a dead body at the pool, he was quick to panic.
Not only did Stiles have to get through Olivia's occasional episodes but now Lydia was having them too. The Martin girls would be the death of him, surely. Actually, the whole supernatural thing would be. He didn't have a doubt about it.
"Lydia?" he called her name as he ran past the pool's gate and made his way toward the redhead. "Lydia, are you okay?"
Lydia had her arms around her, tightly holding herself. "I'm okay," she trembled. "That over there...not okay."
He followed her gaze to the dead body in the lifeguard stand. He could already see without moving that there was a lot of blood; it made him sick to his stomach. "Yeah, all right," he pulled his phone from his jeans. "I'm gonna call my dad."
"I already called 9-1-1."
Stiles paused and looked back at her while blinking rapidly. "You called the police before you called me or Olivia?"
"I'm supposed to call you guys first when I find a dead body?"
"Yes!" Stiles exclaimed loudly.
He changed gears, calling Olivia like she told him to. She quickly answered the call. "Hey, Livvy—"
"Is there really a dead body?"
"Yes, there is."
"Are you sure?"
Stiles rolled his eyes as he inched closer to the body so he could check it out for himself. "Yep, throat ripped out, blood everywhere. It's like the fucking Shining over here. If two little twin girls come out of the woods and start asking me to play with them forever and ever, I'm not gonna be surprised."
"Okay, okay," Olivia said quickly; she absolutely did not like the Shining when Stiles showed it to her. "Um, can you get a little closer to make sure it was them?"
"Make sure it was them?" he repeated in disbelief. "Olivia, who else is going around ripping throats out?"
She sighed. "Please just do it."
Stiles stepped closer to the dead body, stepping around the huge puddle of blood that had collected on the edge of the pool. Like he told Olivia, the guy's throat was ripped out. He bled a lot; his whole arm down to his purity ring wearing fingers.
"It was them," he confirmed for her. "Listen, Lydia called the cops so I'll call you when we're done with them."
"Okay," on the other side of town, Olivia pressed some fingers to her temple, trying to rid herself of the horrible pain her head was in. "Thank you, Stiles. Really."
"No problem. Love you, talk later."
"Love you," Olivia locked her phone and slipped it into her jacket before turning to Derek, Isaac, and Scott.
Derek shook his head in denial. "This doesn't make any sense," he declared. "The public pool is all the way on the other side of the woods. We haven't tracked them anywhere near there."
"Derek, they killed someone," Scott pointed out needlessly.
"How are they moving so fast?"
"Derek."
"But they can't be that fast on foot," Derek insisted.
"They killed someone," Scott said firmly. "Some totally innocent kid is dead...and it's our fault."
Derek was quiet for a moment, blinking slowly. "It's my fault."
"We need help," Olivia interjected. The four of them weren't getting anything done when it came to Cora and Boyd. They had no experience hunting werewolves and why should they? They didn't hunt their own kind. That was a whole new kind of barbaric. They weren't the Argents, for crying out loud.
The Argents...
"We have Isaac now."
"No, more help," she clarified, a plan forming in her head. "Look, they're too fast, too strong, and too rabid for you guys."
"We'll catch them."
"What happens if we do?" Isaac asked his alpha in response. "We're just gonna hold them down until the sun comes up."
Derek shook his head grimly. "Maybe it would be easier just to kill them."
Olivia immediately went to protest but Scott beat her to the punch. "Killing them isn't the right thing to do."
"What if it's the only thing to do?" Isaac replied. "If we can't even catch them, what else do we do?"
"We find someone who knows what they're doing."
They turned to Olivia, curious. "Who?"
"Someone who knows how to hunt werewolves," Olivia said decidedly. "Like Mr. Argent."
Derek scoffed. "You've got to be kidding me."
"I'm not. Mr. Argent isn't as bad as the others and we all know it," she defended Allison's father. It was true; Argent was probably the mildest of the Argent hunters, including Allison. "If he knows the trouble we're facing and about the innocent people getting hurt, I bet he'll help us."
"She's got a point," Scott backed her up. "Me and Olivia can talk to him."
"And if he says no?"
"Then we make him say yes."
-
With a call to Allison, they tracked down Mr. Argent to the grocery store. Derek and Isaac stayed in the former's car and let Olivia and Scott take the lead on him. Mr. Argent wasn't a big fan of Scott and he didn't adore Olivia, but he was more tolerant of them than the other werewolves.
Olivia and Scott waited for him to come out of the store behind the car next to Argent's SUV. When he came out, his arms full of grocery bags, they came out of hiding and watched as one of his bags fell to the ground.
Argent picked it up with a sigh. "It had to be the one with the eggs..."
Once the bag was safely in the back of his SUV, he shut the hatch and abruptly turned around. Olivia flinched away as he held a gun up to her and Scott, both of them immediately putting their hands in the air to show that they didn't mean any harm.
"Hi, Mr. Argent," she squeaked.
Mr. Argent pressed his lips together. "Olivia, Scott," he greeted them cautiously. "What are you doing here?"
"We need your help," Scott said before he started explaining all that had gone on that night so far, from the alpha pack, the bank, and the wild goose chase that Cora and Boyd were giving them.
Argent didn't look happy to be approached. "First of all, why would I care about anyone related to Derek?"
"Ouch," Olivia mumbled under his breath but Argent steamrolled on.
"And second, I don't know this kid, Boyd. I don't even know his last name."
"Boyd is his last name," Olivia informed him.
"What's his first name?"
"Vernon," she said simply. "and could you put the gun down, please? You're freaking me out."
Argent shifted the gun away from her and more toward Scott; Olivia sighed in relief.
"Yeah, just curious, is there a reason the gun is still pointed at me?" Scott was offended.
"Well, there's probably still some part of me that wants to shoot you," Argent answered honestly.
Scott raised his eyebrows and nodded. "I get that."
Argent sighed and lowered his gun, putting it back in its holster. "I watched my father brainwash my daughter and almost turn her into a killer," he shook his head. "That world—your world—decimated mine. My wife, sister, father, my entire family. Why would I ever step foot in it again?"
"Because people are going to die," Olivia said bluntly. "and because you know how to catch Cora and Boyd without killing them."
Argent hesitated for only a second before shaking his head. "I'm sorry. I can't help you."
He went to enter his SUV when Scott stopped him. "Uh, do you think you could do us, like, one tiny little favor?"
Argent lifted his chin. "What's that?"
"Can you give us a lift to the public pool? We're supposed to meet Stiles and Lydia there," Scott stretched the truth.
Olivia gave him an impressed look, immediately catching onto his plan. Argent would see the police and medical examiner at the pool to pick up the body and investigate the scene and hopefully it would sway him to help them catch Boyd and Cora. It was manipulative but necessary. Cora and Boyd could kill even more innocent people by the time the moon fell if they were able to go free.
"Get in."
Ten minutes later, they were pretty close to the community pool. The whole ride was silent and awkward and Olivia was nervous, hoping that Cora and Boyd weren't out terrorizing the town while they played carpool. If Argent would agree to help them, though, they'd have a significant advantage over them.
"Left or straight?" Argent asked.
"Left," Scott answered from the backseat. "Sorry, it's right about the corner."
Argent turned onto the street on their left and slowed down, looking for the pool. Olivia could already see the red and blue lights coming off the police cruisers.
"That parking lot there," Scott pointed to them. "Yeah, just a little further up, right here."
"Thanks again for the ride," Olivia said as Argent came to a stop and parked.
She and Scott watched Argent's face as he took in the scene. There was already an ambulance there, ready to take the body to the morgue, and it looked like the kid's parents were there, too, to identify their son for the record. It was a disturbing image, how heartbroken the parents were as they sobbed over their child.
It made Olivia's chest hurt a little. Erica's parents would soon find out that their child was dead, too.
Scott went to leave the vehicle first, but Argent stopped him. "They did this, Boyd and...?"
"Cora," Olivia supplied her cousin's name. "Yeah."
Argent lifted his gaze to look at her. "Where's the last place you saw them?"
Minutes later, they were meeting Derek and Isaac back at the campground, where they stopped Cora and Boyd from killing a girl their age.
Argent stood in front of the four of them, kneeling down over two sets of shoe tracks. "You're tracking them by print?"
It was Scott who answered him. "Trying to."
"Well, then, you've been wasting your time," Argent stated. "There's only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints and that's man. And if you're not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is Boyd's," he pointed at the large shoeprint in the mud and then the slightly smaller ones. "and these—"
"Are Cora's," Isaac assumed.
"Nope, they're yours," Argent corrected him casually. "You trampled Cora's as soon as you walked over here."
Olivia raised an eyebrow as she looked over at Isaac, who looked embarrassed.
"Listen, I know the three of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon but that puts you at a severe disadvantage to Boyd and Cora, who have fully given in," Argent addressed Derek, Scott, and Isaac. "They put the pedal to the floor where you three are barely hitting the speed limit."
"So, what do we do?" Derek looked annoyed that he had to listen to Argent's advice.
"Focus on your sense of smell," Argent told him. "Actual wolves are known to track their pretty by up to a hundred miles a day by scent. A trained hunter can use scent to track them. If the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two miles, which means we can draw them to us...or into a trap."
Argent reached into the duffle bag that he had brought with him and pulled out a net. "The full moon does give us one advantage," he threw it at Scott, who caught it easily. "They'll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared."
Argent threw two infrared binoculars at Scott and Isaac before tossing one to Derek.
"Thanks," Derek handed them to Olivia and flashed his alpha-red eyes. "but I've got my own."
Argent nodded. "Just remember, we're not hunting wild animals. Underneath those impulses are two intelligent human beings. Don't think they can't rely on that human side. It's suppressed but it's there, reminding them how to mask their scent, how to cover their tracks, and how to survive."
They moved from the campsite to the cliff that overlooked all of Beacon Hills.
"When was the last time you saw your sister?" Argent asked Derek.
"Six years," Derek told him. "We thought she died in the fire."
Argent didn't comment on the fire. "Do you feel like you have a lock on her scent?" Derek shook his head so he turned to Scott. "Scott, how confident are you in your skills?"
Scott scoffed lightly. "Honestly, most of the time I'm trying not to think about all the things I can smell."
Olivia wrinkled her nose in disgust. She certainly didn't envy him.
"All right," Argent turned back to the overlook. "The problem is when they breach the woods and hit the residential area. Once they're past the high school, they're right in the middle of Beacon Hills."
"They're not going to kill anyone they see, are they?" Olivia spoke up hesitantly.
"No but there is an important difference to recognize," Argent answered her. "Wolves hunt or food; at a certain point, they get full. Boyd and Cora are hunting for the pleasure of the kill, for some primal apex predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds. And who knows when that need gets satiated?"
"We can't kill them," Scott declared.
"What if we can't catch them?" Derek countered reluctantly.
"Then maybe we just need to contain them," Argent offered thoughtfully. "There's no one in the school at night, is there?"
Derek looked at him in surprise. "You want to trap them inside?"
"If there's somewhere with a strong enough door, no windows, or access to the outside."
"What about the boiler room?" Isaac spoke up. "It's just one big steel door."
Argent paused for a moment before asking, "You're sure the school's empty?"
"It has to be," Scott confirmed. "There can't be anyone there this late, right?"
"All right," Olivia mused. "So if we do this, how are we going to lead them into the school?"
"I have something."
Argent led them back to his SUV, where he opened the hatch and pulled out another duffle bag with hunting supplies. He took a large silver stake that had some kind of light and button on the top and stabbed it into the ground.
"These are ultrasonic emitters. It's one of the tools we use to corral werewolves, pushing them into a direction we want them to run," Argent pressed the button at the top; there was a light squealing noise as the light flickered on. "It gives off a high-pitched frequency that only they can hear."
There was a slightly uncomfortable feeling in Olivia's ear but she certainly wasn't reacting to the noise like Derek, Scott, and Isaac were. They were all bent forward, their hands smushed to their ears in attempt to block out the noise.
"God, no kidding!" Isaac grunted
Argent turned off the emitter and started grabbing more of them from the hatch. He gave two to each of the werewolves. To Olivia's surprise, he gave her two, too.
"These are gonna drive them to the school?" Derek asked skeptically.
"And then it's up to you to get them into the basement," Argent stated.
"Does anyone else want to rethink the plan where we just, uh, kill them?" Isaac wondered.
Olivia rolled her eyes at him. "All right, lazy bones."
"It's going to work," Scott said encouragingly. "It'll work."
-
-
"Uh, you didn't have to follow me home," Lydia told Stiles flatly as they walked into her bedroom.
Stiles shrugged awkwardly, looking around the room. Despite the many times he had come over to the house, he'd never been inside the redhead's bedroom. "I just wanted to make sure you got in okay."
"I had a police escort."
"I know the inner workings of that force, all right? They're not nearly as reliable as people think," Stiles defended himself. "And I wanted to wait for Olivia, okay?"
Lydia gave him a displeased look as she sat down at the end of her bed. "And you're in my room, why?"
"Because it's creepy for me to wait alone in Livvy's room," Stiles made up an excuse; the real reason he was in Lydia's room was because he wanted answers. Like, how she had ended up at the pool in the first place or the fact that she found a fucking dead body out of nowhere.
"You're lying," Lydia smacked her lips together and rolled her eyes. "Why don't you just ask me the question that you've been dying to ask?"
Stiles faltered. "Well, I'm not—I haven't been dying to ask anything. I—no questions here for Stiles. Nothing."
"I can see it on your face."
"Maybe my face just has, like, a naturally interrogatory expression."
"Well, your interrogatory expression is getting on my nerves," Lydia snapped. "The answer is that I have no clue how I ended up finding that body. I didn't even know where I was until I got out of the car."
"Yeah, but the last time something like this happened..."
"I know," Lydia nodded. "Liv's dad."
"Peter," Stiles sighed; his future father-in-law was a pain in his ass. Well, he was a pain in everyone's ass. He went to say something else when his phone started ringing. "Oh, hold on."
He quickly pulled his phone out of his sweatshirt, eager to see if it was Olivia, but it was Melissa instead. He answered the phone and listened carefully as Melissa explained that he needed to show him something peculiar with the body that Lydia found.
After Lydia insisted that she go with him, the two of them headed into the hospital. They made their way to the emergency room where Melissa had a night shift and stopped at the desk where Melissa was waiting for them with some paperwork.
"Hey," she greeted them, leaving her paperwork for another time. "Over here...and if you tell anyone that I showed you this, I swear to God, I will kill you painfully and slowly."
She led off down the hallway that led to the morgue, sneaking into the room before anyone saw them.
"Why do you want to show us a body we've already seen?" Stiles asked her.
"Because you haven't seen everything," Melissa replied as she gloved up and walked over to one of the bodies displayed on the tables. She uncovered the guy that Lydia found at the pool and pointed to his neck. "See this around his neck?" there was a dark bruise that encircled the entire front of his neck. "That's a ligature mark. That means that he was strangled with something, like a cord or rope—"
Stiles furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Ah, okay, wait a second," he interrupted her. "What kind of werewolf strangles someone? You know, that's not very werewolf-y."
Melissa looked at him proudly. "My thoughts exactly," she confirmed before picking up the kid's head and turning it slightly. "And then there's this."
Stiles' stomach flipped nauseously at the sight of the kid's broken skull and exposed brain. "God, what the hell is that?" he gagged slightly. "Is that brain matter? Yeah, it's brain matter, of course."
Lydia gave him an annoyed look. "Seriously, Stiles?"
He honestly didn't know how she was so calm.
"See the indentation? He was hit in the back of the head, hard enough to kill him," Melissa stated as she carefully set down the head back on the table. "In fact, any one of these things could have killed him. I mean, someone seriously wanted this poor kid dead."
"So, this couldn't have been Boyd or Cora," Lydia assumed thoughtfully. "They wouldn't have tried three different ways to kill someone when they're that out of control."
"Maybe it's just one murder," Stiles suggested. "I mean, maybe it's a random coincidence."
Melissa shook her head. "I don't think it was just one murder."
"How come?"
"Because that boy over there, he's got the exact same injuries," Melissa answered Stiles, pointing to the table to their right.
The three of them shuffled over to the other body. When Melissa uncovered it, Stiles felt Lydia stiffen next to him.
"The M.E. said this one wasn't just strangled," Melissa started talking so Stiles didn't get to look over at the redhead. "Whoever did it used a garrote, which is a stick that you put through a rope and you just kind of keep twisting and—"
Lydia whimpered lightly, cutting Melissa off. Both she and Stiles turned to Lydia and were shocked to see that she was in tears, staring down at the body in horror.
"Lydia, are you okay?" Melissa asked her worriedly; Lydia shook her head. "Oh, my God, did you know him? I'm so sorry, I didn't even think."
She carefully pulled the sheet back over the body.
"I was...I practically grew up with him," Lydia whispered. "Liv and I were at his birthday party the other night. His name is Heath."
Stiles awkwardly patted her back, trying to instill some sort of comfort in her. His own eyes started to sting as he looked back down at the blonde boy on the table. Olivia had told him some of the conversation she and Heath had at his party after he kissed her. He really wished that things didn't turn out this way. He wished that Heath was alive and that he'd be able to drop his asshole friends and feel better. Who made fun of something because they were a virgin anyway? Dicks.
"Okay, we need to call the sheriff because you're a witness," Melissa smiled sadly at Lydia.
Wait, wait, wait...Stiles thought quickly, his mind racing. The guy at the pool was a virgin, he had a purity ring. And Heath was a virgin, too. That couldn't be a coincidence, it was just too major of a detail. And if there were two bodies already, that meant that there was probably another coming.
"Has anyone else been through here tonight?" he asked Melissa urgently. "Any—any other bodies or even anybody missing?"
Lydia and Melissa were understandably confused by his sudden behavior and question.
"Uh, no, no bodies but um..." Melissa hesitated.
"What?"
"Two girls," Melissa told him. "They brought the first one, Caitlin, in for a tox screen and then I overheard that her girlfriend, Emily, just disappeared. I mean, they were out in the woods and—"
"Nobody's found her yet?" Stiles cut her off.
"I don't know."
"Okay, the first one—"
"Caitlin," Lydia supplied for him.
"Right," Stiles nodded at her before addressing Melissa again. "Is she here? Is she here right now?"
Melissa nodded. "I think so."
"Okay, where?" Stiles went to leave the room but Melissa quickly stepped in front of him.
"Okay, okay, wait. Just wait a minute."
"I have to talk to her," Stiles insisted impatiently.
"Why?"
"Because I think I know what's happening."
-
"We weren't doing anything that bad," Caitlin, who was laying in a hospital bed with a sad expression on her face, told Stiles. "I mean, I've camped out there plenty of times."
"Right," Stiles acknowledged calmly. "but why tonight?"
"We wanted to be alone for one night. Emily lives with her mom and I have three roommates," Caitlin scoffed lightly. "Not exactly romantic settings, you know?"
Stiles smiled lightly; he did know. Olivia's aunt was a meteorologist at the local news station, so she was only gone in the morning and early afternoon and Lydia seemed like she was always home, especially during the summer when she was bringing guys home after her dates. It made getting intimate difficult there, so most of the time they hung out at his house since his dad was out at odd hours depending on what shift he took.
"I can relate," Stiles said. "How long have you two been together?"
"Three months."
Stiles nodded in realization. "And you wanted to make it romantic."
Again, Stiles could relate to Caitlin. He had been putting off having sex with Olivia because he wanted to make their first time romantic. Olivia was a virgin and he...was not. He took that swan dive the summer before. It wasn't anything special but he loved Olivia and he wanted her first time to be different than his.
"Yeah, you know, because..."
"Because it was her first time," Stiles finished for her.
Caitlin's face crumpled as tears welled up in her eyes. She turned to him with a pleading expression. "They're gonna find her, right? Aren't they?"
"I hope so," Stiles smiled sadly at her, his heart sinking.

Both Olivia and Argent met up with Scott and Isaac at the school once they were done setting up the ultrasonic emitters. After Scott and Isaac broke into the school to make sure Boyd and Cora would have a way in, Scott joined them.
"Do you see that?" Argent caught Olivia and Scott's attention, his eyes focused on a firefly only a foot or so in front of them.
Olivia furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. The fireflies in California weren't bio-luminescent, which meant that they didn't light up. It was weird that now, all of a sudden, there were some in Beacon Hills, of all places.
"Yeah," Scott gave him a strange look. "it's a firefly."
"No, no, I know that but..."
"What?"
"It's, uh, very unusual," Argent mused.
"California fireflies aren't bio-luminescent," Olivia informed Scott. "They don't glow."
Scott looked back at the firefly. "Does that mean something?"
Before Argent could answer, a loud howl broke out into the night. They immediately went into action with Argent getting into his SUV and Olivia and Scott settling themselves by the parked school buses.
"They're with Isaac now," Scott informed her quietly as they waited for Boyd and Cora. "and now they're coming this way."
Scott got ready as Boyd and Cora appeared, bending his knees so that he could lunge at them at a second's notice. However, Argent's SUV appeared and he blared his horn, causing Boyd and Cora to turn away from their direction.
"They're heading toward Derek," Scott said needlessly, as Olivia could still see them. To their shock, instead of plowing toward Derek, they jumped onto the roof. "They're not going through the school. They're going over it."
Olivia, Scott, Argent, Isaac, and Derek quickly grouped together.
"The red doors," Argent said urgently. "someone has to get them open."
Derek nodded, volunteering for the task, and started running back into the school.
"Someone has to drive them inside," Olivia pointed out.
"I'll go," Argent volunteered.
"No," Isaac shook his head. "I'm faster."
As he took off with a door blocker, Argent turned to Scott and Olivia. "You two need to get in there and lead them to the basement."
Olivia and Scott ran into the school side-by-side.
"Does this mean I'm your Robin now?" Olivia asked breathlessly as they turned into the English hallway.
"Nah," Scott shook his head. "Come on, Derek's in the math hallway."
They continued running through the school. The closer they got to the math hallway, the more they could hear the growls coming from Boyd and Cora. It sounded like Derek was already fighting with them while he tried to lead them into the basement.
They rounded the corner into the math hallway just in time. When Derek threw Cora to her feet, Scott and Olivia came to a stop next to him when Boyd looked like was going to fight. Trapped, Boyd and Cora would have no choice but to head for the basement.
That didn't mean that they were going to go willingly.
"Come and get us," Derek dared them.
At once, all three of them opened to the door to the basement and ran down the stairs. They went through the door that separated the rest of the basement from the stairs and ran in, heading over to the boiler room, which took up most of the basement and housed supply rooms.
Olivia couldn't see in the pitch-black boiler room but Derek and Scott could. Olivia made sure to stay out of the way as they did something to prepare for Boyd and Cora's appearance. The two out-of-control werewolves entered not long after and a second later, two fire extinguishers were going off.
While Boyd and Cora screeched and grunted from the ice-cold foam being sprayed over them. Olivia quickly went for the steel door. Soon enough, Derek and Scott were coming out after her, allowing the door to be slammed shut and locked into place.
They stood still, with Derek leaning against the door, as Boyd and Cora pounded on it to try to get out.
"Did that actually just work?" Scott asked, shocked.
Derek nodded at them with a relieved expression on his face. "It worked," as he answered, Scott slowly stepped up to the door, concentrating. "What are you hearing?"
"Heartbeats."
Olivia raised her eyebrows. "Two of them?"
"Actually, there's three of them," Scott's eyes widened.
"Who else could possibly in there?" Olivia hissed at him.
"Maybe a teacher," he shrugged.
Derek shook his head and grabbed the lock, preparing to open the door and run inside.
"What are you doing?" Scott asked him.
"Ollie, you need to come in with me. You and I can keep them calm until the sun comes up," Derek told his cousin, who nodded, and then turned to Scott. "Close the door behind us and keep it shut."
Scott gaped at him like he was nuts. "If you guys go in there alone, you're either gonna kill them or they're gonna kill you. And, if you haven't noticed, Olivia's not exactly like us."
"Okay, well, that's obvious," Olivia sighed.
"She'll be fine," Derek insisted, slowly unlocking the door. "Come on."
As soon as he opened the door and slipped into the boiler room, Olivia quickly followed him. Scott did as Derek told him, slamming the door shut and locking it behind them. Olivia followed Derek all the way to the teacher supply room, where Boyd and Cora were waiting for a teacher to come out.
Derek roared at them and they roared back. Olivia stumbled back as they attacked Derek. He fought back, dodging attacks and making blows of his own. Eventually, he had a hold of both of them at the same time, letting them claw at him.
Seeing Derek being ripped apart like that killed Olivia. It was time to get to work; her gaze went purple as she stormed toward the three werewolves as she sent as much calming waves over to Boyd and Cora. She was trying to anchor them and make them come down from their impulses to kill Derek, or anyone, for that matter.
"Boyd, Cora, stop," she carefully placed a hand on each of their backs. "Control yourselves."
Boyd growled viciously and then so did Cora. If it wasn't for the hold Derek had on both of them, they would have turned and possibly rip Olivia into shreds.
Control, control, control, Olivia repeated in her head like a mantra. You have control. Come on, come on, come on.
As if she wasn't already having a difficult time, the whispers started up, too.
Derek, Derek, Derek. Over and over again, her cousin's name was chanted. Derek, Derek, Derek.
She had to do something.
Gathering all of her strength, a scream came out of her mouth. "BOYD! CORA!"
She was shocked at the scream because she hadn't even been trying to do that but it seemed to work. As if a switch was flicked, Cora and Boyd fell unconscious and dropped to the floor. Derek almost went down with them is it wasn't for the fact that Olivia quickly grabbed him and let him lean his weight on her.
He was very beaten up, with horrendous scratches littered all over his whole body. His torn olive-green shirt was mostly brown from the blood he shed. Luckily, despite the fact that he was completely exhausted, the wounds on his face were starting to heal.
A ray of light coming from the window caught Olivia's attention. "The sun came up," she whispered to Derek. "It's over."
Unable to hold Derek's weight anymore, she allowed him to carefully drop to his knees. She still supported his upper body, letting him lean against her, but thankfully, most of his weight was gone.
Scott and Isaac came running into the boiler room only seconds later.
"There's a teacher. I'll take care of her," Derek breathed heavily, still trying to catch his breath. "Get them out of here."
While Scott and Isaac rushed toward Boyd and Cora, carefully picking them up and carrying them out of the boiler room, Olivia asked Derek, "Are you sure? You can go with them and I'll talk to the teacher."
"It's fine," Derek insisted as she helped him to his feet. "You go get some sleep. You have school in a couple of hours."
"Okay," Olivia was hesitant to leave but she was tired, especially after getting Boyd and Cora to control themselves. Derek seemed pretty insistent anyway, so she wasn't going to argue with him. "Be careful."
"I will," he promised her.
Olivia made sure that Derek was steady before pulling away from him. Just as she stepped out of the boiler room, her phone started ringing. It was Stiles.
"Hello?" Olivia knew how exhausted she sounded.
"Hey," Stiles croaked from the other line. "I need you to come to the hospital."
"Why?" she stiffened nervously. "Is it Lydia? Is she okay? Are you okay?"
"We're both fine, Livvy. We're okay," Stiles assured her; she relaxed, relieved that they were safe. "Just please meet me here and bring Scott."
"Okay, I will. I'll see you soon."
-
"So, Boyd and Cora might not have killed anyone?"
Olivia heard Scott but she didn't pay much attention as she sat by Heath's body, trying to control her tears. It was too much death in twenty-four hours and she felt like she was going to suffocate from the grief weighing down her chest.
She knew Heath since she was practically born. Now he was gone and Olivia had been so negative about seeing him again. She hadn't wanted to go to that party but she did and she was glad. She was grateful that she got to see him one last time but it also hurt. She didn't know who did this to him but he already had a hard life. He didn't deserve this—no one deserved this.
"You're gonna wish they did," Stiles said solemnly, letting Olivia grip his hand tightly.
"Why?"
"I'm not exactly sure yet, but...The other girl who was out in the woods, Emily? Eventually they're gonna find her," Stiles stated. "She's one of them. Emily, Heath, the guy that Lydia found at the pool. All three were virgins and they're all gonna have the same three injuries...strangled, throat slashed, head bashed in..."
Olivia sniffed and raised her head to look at him in disbelief. "The threefold death?"
Stiles nodded. "Yeah."
"So, if these aren't random killings, then what are they?" Scott wondered.
"Sacrifices," Stiles dropped the bomb. "Human sacrifices."

“Invisible Empathy Gaps”
Talk about Scott/Posey Stans’ not-invisible bias, ableism, and empathy gaps:
“the moment Stiles is overwhelmed by fear that his self-defense killing of Donovan will be answered by his losing Scott’s friendship, the fandom went into a paroxysm of tear-laden empathy, even though we never ever saw Scott hate someone before, even to the people who threatened his family and tortured him.
No one criticized Stiles for letting his emotions overwhelm his common sense, no one put him to blame for not telling just Scott or anyone. They recognized the power of the event and the way Stiles was handling it as a product of previous trauma (mostly the death of Claudia and the Nogitsune possession).
Scott mishandled the imbalance between Kira and her inner fox spirit but, unlike Stiles’s hallucinatory possibilities, we actually see Kira’s fox spirit attempt to execute a downed opponent. Unlike Stiles, Scott isn’t dealing with an imagined scenario”
Here’s @princeescaluswords claiming that Stiles’ trauma does not matter because only Scott’s is worthy of empathy, and the non trying to paint a canonical neuroatypical boy as a crazy, unstable, irrational freak who hallucinated Scott treating Kira as an inhuman monster who couldn’t be trusted anymore AND accusing Stiles of being a violent, dangerous, inhuman monster and serial killer for daring to protect himself from his abuser “the wrong way” in Teen Wolf Season 5.
And here’s @princeescaluswords claiming that Stiles’ dad wasn’t an alcoholic, that Stiles was neither neglected nor abused by father and by his mentally ill mother, that Stiles never had to take care of himself of his father in the aftermath of Claudia’s death, and that Scott grew up with an abusive and alcoholic father who beat and neglected him throughout his childhood (despite the fact that Scott used to live with his father in another city before moving to Beacon Hills with Melissa, Scott explicitly told Allison that his worst memory was his parents getting a divorce, and that canon ha made it absolutely clear that Scott didn’t grew up in an abusive family and that Rafa accidentally pushing Scott down the stairs was a one time accident Scott didn’t even remember:
“The Sheriff’s fraught relationship with alcohol has been turned into child neglect, child abuse, and outright alcoholism even though Stiles rejected that idea explicitly. There’s not a single scene which even implies that Stiles had to take care of himself in the aftermath of his mother’s death.
But when we have an actual alcoholic who literally confesses to endangering his child with his drinking and literally confesses to child abandonment and we see demonstrations of his neglect on the screen, fandom falls all over itself to downplay that into a one-time event not worthy of sympathy”
Scott Stans’ tendency to downplay and erase every single Teen Wolf character’s pain while giving Stiles’, Derek’s, Peter’s, Lydia’s, Allison’s etc canonical traumas to Scott to prove Scott has suffered the most and is more worthy of people’s sympathy is truly disgusting. They are so hell bent on invalidating Stiles’ and Derek’s traumas while validating Scott’s canonically nonexistent abusive childhood that they literally forget what happened on screen.

mischief: They keep telling us we’re biased, and then they turn around and say that we have to emphasise with Scott because we’re told that Rafael knocked him down the stairs (accident or not, it’s terrible). However, we shouldn’t be sure about Derek’s family being murdered because it happened before the show really started, and it never/barely happened on screen.
Their hypocrisy isn’t anything new, but they’re not trying to hide is as much any longer. So, there’s that, I guess.

A lot of Scott haters generate very poor analysis of the show because they are operating on a fundamentally flawed premise, namely, that the characters they like have the same opinion of Scott that they do. (This isn't exclusive to Teen Wolf fandom, I've seen it in other fandoms, it's a common error fandoms make.) I may have problems with certain actions taken by Stiles but I would NEVER claim he doesn't love or care about Scott or would choose Derek of all people over him. That's not Stiles.
Tumblr media
Nothing supports your conclusion more than fandom's "re-interpretaton" of Master Plan (2x12). In this episode, Stiles makes several very clear (and very emotional) statements about how he feels about the most important people in his life: his father, his mother, Lydia, and Scott. His actions conform completely to those statements.
He makes it clear he loves his father, Lydia, and Scott. He acts to protect his father, Lydia, and Scott. He lies, concealing the truth behind his kidnapping, to his father, because he doesn't want his father anywhere near the Hale-Argent feud. He shouts at Lydia to try to dissuade her from pursuing Jackson, revealing the depth of his feelings toward Lydia, the danger she is in, and how that is influenced by his own mother's death, but he still guides her to the climactic confrontation in the warehouse. He doesn't seek out Scott immediately because he knows that his kidnapping and beating is meant to apply pressure to Scott "And look at my face, huh? Come on, you actually think this was meant to hurt me?" In the aftermath, he reassures Scott that he has his back always.
Stiles always figures it out, and he recognizes the dangers that the people he loves are in, and he acts accordingly.
But then here comes fandom. Since the majority of fandom seems not to be all that attracted to Lydia, they don't care about her. Since the majority are busily projecting their own issues with their parents onto the Sheriff, they don't recognize how his position in law enforcement complicates his relationship with Stiles. Since the majority of the fandom are outraged that Derek isn't the main character, they are primed to see Scott in the worst possible light.
The fandom wants a Stiles who dwells exclusively on his own physical and emotional pain and who doesn't look at what has happened -- as the Canon Stiles does -- in terms of the health and safety of his family and friends. The fandom also wants a Stiles who worships Derek the way they do, so they conjure concern for the Hale pack, even though Stiles didn't mention Derek (and Derek didn't mention Stiles) during the final two episodes of Season 2. They want Stiles, as their stand-in, to make the case for shifting the focus of the show to Derek, so they perform incredible feats of doublethink, taking Stiles's earlier shots at Scott (which they have interpreted before as Stiles's way of showing his love for Scott) as literal, critical and damning judgment of Scott's value while simultaneously believing that Stiles would be shocked and blindsided by Scott's behavior.
Of course, to accomplish this new paradigm they have to eject 70% of canon. Derek didn't try to kill Lydia, Derek hasn't been alternatively brutal and manipulative toward his best friend, Isaac and Erica didn't attack Stiles on Derek's orders, and Derek didn't create the kanima which almost murdered Stiles's father. Fanon Stiles doesn't love Lydia enough to challenge Peter and Gerard, he doesn't care for and have faith in Scott enough to ignore his own physical and emotional trauma to support him , and he certainly didn't leave Boyd and Erica in the Argent basement in order to prioritize protecting his father. I imagine this level of editing is hard work.
Of course, when people like us point this out, they have two primary and contradictory declamations. "We're not bound by canon!" fandom cries only to follow that up immediately with "Why can't you let people enjoy things?" But by discarding canon to this degree, they're not just enjoying things: they're creating things. And when anyone creates something and puts it out for public consumption, the audience for it -- which includes you and me -- gets to react to that creation, just as we react to Teen Wolf.
And the red flags in their creation are consistent and widespread. Fanon Stiles is not Allison's friend and not in love with Lydia but still pays attention to their actions, he resents the fact that Scott simultaneously relies on him but doesn't do anything to discourage it, and desperately wants to be part of Derek "Like a hyperactive spaz" Hale's pack. Fanon Stiles cannot stand Scott because he hid his plan against Gerard from Stiles (even though there's no evidence Scott actually did that) but is more than willing to defend Derek's repeated instances of concealing information (the existence of the alpha, biting Jackson, the approach of the alpha pack, and Peter's resurrection). Fanon Stiles cannot forgive Scott for the Neck Grab of Destiny because it is morally wrong and crossed boundaries (regardless of the threat to Allison), but literally has not the slightest concern that Derek dispatched teenagers to execute an innocent Lydia repeatedly.
When we interrogate them about the choices they made for their creation, they get defensive. If they're willing to rewrite that much of canon, why does their product consistently celebrate the white male characters and diminish or demonize female and/or minority characters? After all, as they'll state forever, they're not beholden to canon. Yet, there has been no other offered consistent explanation for the specificity of Fanon Stiles's behavior from the fandom, because they obviously can't come out and say that they wanted to discard Canon Stiles's fantastic personality and actions for one that takes revenge for a Latino being the main protagonist and not a white man.
BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

This episode had cast commentary too and it was beautiful. They keep making Dylan say stuff in Crystal’s place bc she was absent from both recordings and he turned her british in this ep
The way they edited this “previously on” was really well done gotta be honest. Also I still love how Derek was like “I fucking hate Stiles so much” and then literally not a minute later was like “GO GET OUT OF THERE MY UNCLE IS THE ALPHA” they’re just good
YOOOO THEY WON TGE B IG GAME YOOOOOOOOOOOOO
State state state state state state state
Hate the way Jackson pats Scott’s face sjfkdkfk I don’t like Colton or his acting but he plays a good jerk
SCOTT AND DANNY ARE SO GOOD I LOVE THEM SM
Derek nooooooo :( he doesn’t want this to happen
Peter’s like here watch me take a really painful shower
Stiles scrambling in
CAN I JUST SAY I love the score during the scene where Allison sees the flashbang arrowhead in the garage. It has such great tension and it morphs in such a cinematic way like it’s telling the story too. I also love the way they keep that score in season 3 but with a matured change to it. UGH sometimes teen wolf good
Jackson drive fast car out of angst
LYDIA YOU LOOK SO GOTH HERE UGHHHHH
How did Allison know Lydia made out with Scott?? I mean I refuse to let that be canon but also wh

YEEESSSSS THE SQUAD IS HEREEE
Stiles bisexual moments compilation
SNDKFKSNFK dude. My jeep.
AAAAAAWWWWWWWWW “I cant protect anyone” [looks at Stiles] THEY LOVE EACH OTHERRRRRRRR
I legitimately don’t understand how Jackson is supposed to be a sympathetic character. He’s literally just rich and entitled I cannot care about him
3B parallels. I love how they call back to moments like these trying to reclaim some normalcy it’s really good writing
Tyler Posey said in the cast commentary that the taser gag was one of his favorite gags to do
SHDKSKKF love the way that he says “well.......... yea”
This hug................. they look like such kids here they make me so sad..... they were so young Allison was so young :((((((
WHY was Stiles so excited about the milk
Ok I’m just gonna say it, it’s absolutely horrible character writing to suggest Stiles would get his dad drunk like this. Like for the love of god can the teen wolf writers pay attention to their own characters’ history?? I could go on and on about this but I won’t in here lmao. Maybe in another post bc there’s a lot of reasons why this doesn’t make any sense. Sometimes teen wolf good and sometimes teen wolf bad
The way that the whiskey is so obviously iced tea
How the fuck does a teacher have Scott’s personal cell phone number. Also when did Scott get a new cell phone?
:( through the dark :( the lyrics make me so sad
God they never talk about it. That’s where Stiles gets it from.

Been seeing you getting hate mail and while I absolutely can't understand why anyone would go to all the trouble to make some one else feel bad... I also kinda really love the discourse on Scott? Like YOUR RANTS oh man. On point. Always. Tbh I tried giving Scott a chance... He is the main char after all... But I was like??? Wtf? That dude does nothing but refute others and does whatever he wants. And this was when I didn't particularly like Stiles either (first time watching Teen Wolf). But then I got to know more of him and like Tony he went asshole to lovable asshole—seriously, Stiles might not be the ‘nicest’ but he tries and his heart is in good place—while Scott is just... self-righteous. Someone pointed out that he sees people as possessions and that irks me too that I can actually see it being true. The dude has literally nothing going on except for being the one that gets bitten. And the Romeo-and-Juliet-esque romance he has.
Okay, okay, where was I going with this?? Right. LOVE YOUR RANTS. People need to understand that Scott not being liked isn't because of his race or anything trivial like it—he just happens to be—but because of his actions. Or inactions, as it were. *remembers the pool scene and Scott saying he's busy and resists the urge to chuck a shoe at him*
Basically, love you, love your work, and love your words! ❤️
I've talked with some friends about it, and our number one issue sort of...boiled down to the hypocrisy of the show? I....sort of rant a lot here, and I would add a Read More, but I can't find the option anymore?? I fucking hate Tumblr. EDIT: I found a post that told me how to do it!
So, since he's the character I focus on the most, let's talk about Stiles' morality. Because, you're right. Stiles is an asshole. He does some fucking awful shit in the first season, and even if he had a Reason to do it, it was still bad. And I still don't like it. But I understand it.
Stiles' lack of shits about what is 'lawful' is literally established in the first ten seconds of the show. He's a sheriff's son who sneaks onto people's roofs in the middle of the night bc they aren't answering his calls, who listens in on his dad's work conversations and is willing to fuck up a crime scene because he's so excited about getting to see a dead body. He doesn't care about laws. He doesn't even care about most basic manners (invasion of privacy much, with having Scott sniff Lydia to see if she liked him?). He's a dickhead, even to the people he cares about sometimes. But personality and morality aren't the same. Stiles' entire actual morality system is based around whatever he needs to do to keep the people he loves safe and happy. Lying to his dad so he doesn't get murdered by hunters? Totally fine. Telling Scott that it was "Jackson's own fault" that Scott attacked him with superstrength and dislocated his shoulder, so Scott doesn't feel like an asshole? That's just best friend duties! He will lie, steal, cheat, and he will kill to keep his loved ones safe (let's not forget this boy threw molotovs at Peter, knowing damn well what they would do to him). We can headcanon all we want about all the different people who are in this group of loved ones, but the list is canonically very short: Scott, his dad, and Lydia. Later on, like, past s3B? It includes Derek. Canonically. Stiles puts his life and the lives of others he cares about on the line while he lies to the matriarch of the Calavera hunter clan, to save Derek Hale. Derek is just canonically a part of that group now, and he fucking knows it bc Stiles is his anchor (that's canon too bb). End of Story, Sterek or no Sterek. It's why we get that insane number of lookbacks when Derek is dying before his evolution. Because Stiles is being forced to choose between two people who are BOTH in his ride-or-die group. He Cannot Pick between Scott and Derek, until Derek begs him to leave.
SO, yes, Stiles does fuckface things, and I don't always agree with what he does, but it is ACCURATE TO HIS CHARACTER. He is morally grey. He NEVER CLAIMS to be pure or good or just or righteous. Stiles knows who he is, and he stays true to himself. And I love him for that.
The same goes for a bunch of other characters! For Peter, who is strikingly similar to Stiles, in that family goes above literally everything. Screw the idea that he was following Derek around waiting for the chance to steal back the Alpha spark. That man put his life on the line (his second life, no less) to get the shit beaten out of him until Derek let him help save Derek's life Again and Again. Family Comes First.
Scott's morality is...confusing as fuck. I thought at first he was similar to Stiles, in that family came first, but...while he's protective of his mother, he also does a lot of stuff that puts her at risk without seeming to care/worry (like leaving Peter alone with her once Stiles hits their car, so he can chase Jackson) (or asking her to come to the high school when he's convinced there's a bomber in it)? Seriously, he's more protective over Allison, than his mother. It's very black and white the rest of the time. Very "this bad" "this good." And if you do "bad" then you are bad forever, while if you do "good" you are only good until you do "bad." The Betas were "good" until they asked for the bite, and then they were "Bad." Derek was "bad" when Scott met him and scared him, so after that, no matter how much "good" he did, he remained "bad." But only when it suits him. Allison is good even when she does bad, because he wants her to be good. Chris is good even though he's done mountains of bad, because of the minuscule amount of good that Scott has seen him do, because Scott wants him to be good. Even DEUCALION is good, despite the crazy CRAZY amount of bad he's done and despite having seen him do NO GOOD, just because Scott wants him to be good. Lying to those closest to you is bad, unless Scott is doing it, and then it's good, because he knows HE is good. Killing people is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Letting villains go is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Biting people is bad, unless Scott is doing it. Protecting family is good even if it requires killing or lying, unless it's not Scott doing it. Revenge for past slights is good, unless it's not SCOTT doing it. And you try to understand it! You try to say, okay, then he's morally grey, got it. He plays with the rules to suit his own morality, whatever. Except that Scott, the other characters, and THE SHOW ITSELF, are all telling you otherwise! They all say that Scott is morally pure. That he is good and righteous and lawful. That he always does the "right" thing, and that when he does "bad" things, it's justified and he had to. THE HEAVENS THEMSELVES say Scott is somehow better or more righteous than the other characters by MAKING HIM AN ALPHA OUT OF NOWHERE. (I'm talking abt canon here, not going into deaton conspiracy theories) It's like....Like in the hate mail response I did, where I pointed out that Every Single Thing people get angry at Derek for doing, Scott did too. Lying, killing (or at least attempting it), attacking innocents, losing his temper, keeping secrets, refusing to work with someone who could help, etc etc etc. Everything Derek has done that is morally "wrong," Scott has also done. And that's okay! Doing a bad thing doesn't make you a bad person, and even if it did, Scott is ALLOWED to be bad! GO FOR IT.
Except that he is sinless. It isn't that he learns from the bad things he does, it's that they aren't treated like bad things in the first place. Because Scott did it, and Scott always does the right thing.
Derek's behavior is reprehensible at times, but the show ADMITS that and frames it as bad. Frames it as him doing a bad thing when he scares Isaac or throws Peter or tells Erica who to date. And that's fine, because Derek is established as not being morally pure.
But SCOTT IS. And because they were so desperate to make him continue being "Pure" they didn't frame the things he did as wrong, or if they did, they absolved him of it immediately, using the exact same reasoning that works for Derek's situations, but this time Actually Accepting it.
He scares Stiles, well it's because he's scared. He throws Isaac, it's because he's upset. He attacks Jackson well it's because Jackson was being a dick. He orders Allison to date Matt, well he had a goal to accomplish. Every reason is treated like a fucking doctor's note that erases the bad things he does.
Being scared, or angry, or retaliating to someone being an asshole, or trying to protect himself, was NEVER a good enough reason for Derek to do ANYTHING "Bad." It was never an acceptable excuse.
IF IT WERE: If the show were making a statement about how fallable people are, how they do bad things, but they do them for a REASON. How people will do wild and terrible things out of fear, and how that doesn't make it less bad, but it makes it understandable, so don't demonize them out of nowhere. If that were the case, I would HAVE BEEN FINE WITH IT.
Scott is held to COMPLETELY different standards than everyone else in the show! And I DON'T mean that people held him to higher ones. They dropped that bar so fucking low. Anything was allowed, and any excuse was good enough.
He made out with a girl who was dating someone else, who his best friend was in love with? It's just the full moon, he's angsty about losing Allison. He ducttapes Liam to a bathtub and starts throwing random phrases at him that he hated Derek for saying to him? He's freaked out! He doesn't know what to do with a bitten wolf! It was an accident! He works with a mass murderer behind people's backs without telling them the whole story? Am I talking about Gerard or Deucalion? Who fucking knows. Either way, it's okay, because he was protecting his family. He plots to murder a cancer patient slowly and painfully by replacing meds that likely included painkillers with mountain ash, and the uses someone else's body to deliver the killing blow, and it's okay because he was just being smart! He was just working ten steps ahead! He was saving his mom and the whole town! Who cares if it DIDN"T WORK?
He walks into his ex-girlfriend's hotel room and scares the SHIT out of her while she's naked and alone in the shower? It was the wolfsbane. It doesn't matter that no one else's impulses included HARASSING someone. He lies to his girlfriend's face about her own life because he doesn't think it's important enough for her to know (who am I talking about, come on, take a guess, which one is it? Allison or Kira? Trick question: it's both). He was just being kind! He didn't want to worry her! He didn't want to make her feel bad! She didn't need to know!
I'm so far off track it's not even funny. My point was that Everything the other characters in the show are demonized for or framed as evil or bad or wrong for doing, Scott is shown to do and it's treated like at minimum a comedy, if not a Perfect Brilliant Strategic Move.
God, fucking hell. I mean, the PARALLELS you see in this show, between Scott and others. The scene of Alexander Argent going to the hotel after being bit? That bit where he pulls his shirt up in the mirror? It's a near PERFECT replica of Scott looking at his bite at Deaton's. They paralleled SCOTT MCCALL with AN ARGENT. Deaton has this whole line in S2 where he's bitching at Derek about "the person you should trust the most doesn't trust you at all" And then seasons later, we have Scott look his best friend in the eye and refuse to trust him, only to get upset later because Stiles doesn't want to work with him anymore and he "lost them." Scott goes running into Derek's house in S1 to accuse him of killing the bus driver, and when he can't get a real response, he EGGS HIM ON by accusing him of Murdering his SISTER, just to get Derek to react. Which is the EXACT same thing Kate did when she showed up and wanted Derek to lose his temper. Scott is CONSTANTLY paralleled with villains and assholes, and constantly does the things that others are persecuted for. But instead of feeling regret or learning something from it, instead of growing AT ALL. Those actions are treated as good. We are told they are righteous. And clever. That they are what heroes do. AND YES: There are parallels between Derek and Stiles' behaviors and villains/morally grey characters! Of course there are!
BUT THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THE TRUE ALPHA MAIN CHARACTER. SCOTT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD GUY. HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO MIMIC/EMULATE THE VILLAINS, AND HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE REWARDED WHEN HE DOES IT ANYWAY.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I understand the urge to think that the Teen Wolf writers did all of this on purpose. That they built Scott up as an unreliable narrator, so that we're forced to come to terms with a protagonist who isn't good, and we watch them fall into a villainous role while thinking all the while they are a hero. That all these parallels are intentional and the writers just couldn't Tell us what was going on bc they didn't have enough power.
And sometimes I play into it. I will lie to myself about Scott being the 'narrator' of the entire show, and that we're seeing it all through his eyes so of course things are biased and conflicting, just so I can actually Enjoy watching it.
But I think it's absolute bullshit that this was done on purpose. It wasn't. The parallels appeared because they Wanted Scott to do the badass things that they had all the villains doing, throwing people and being sneaky and clever, and stopping the bad guy, and they didn't want to deal with the fact that they were having him do bad things. So they just pretended he wasn't and refused to acknowledge that they'd already punished other people for doing the same exact shit, but somehow Scott was getting rewarded. They wanted Scott to be the hero, so they made him the hero, and screw everybody else.

ok so now that teen wolf is trending something thats been bothering me since my first rewatch is just how grossly the fandom mischaracterizes Stiles. I hate meek, scaredy Stiles so much.
Canon Stiles:
Never let Jackson bully him and when Jackson DID say something out of line Stiles LITERALLY punched him out.
Never let Derek be too pushy with him and got him arrested just bc Derek made him nervous
Was not afraid to be snarky to Peter when he was kidnapped and asserted that Scott would come for him
Comepletely flipped the room on Rafael when he caught Stiles sneaking into the station
A lot of his anxiety stems from the fact that he used to be the one to protect Scott, from people, from information, and this whole werewolf thing stressed him out because he feels like he cant protect Scott anymore. And yes, he has an anxiety disorder. Stiles Stilinski is brave and not to be underestimated and sure as shit doesnt need Derek or Scott to hide behind.
