#Desdemona railroad

You have beef with Desdemona because you subconsciously associate women in authority with that one teacher from second grade and imagine them to be shrill and unreasonable without any actual evidence.
I have beef with Desdemona because if you betray the Railroad, she chooses to use her last moments on earth to berate Deacon for no reason whatsoever.
We are not the same.

Screaming and crying about how the name Desdemona means ill fated and unlucky and how every leader of the Railroad before her probably died painfully at the hands of the Institute

Fallout 4: Railroad Chalkboard
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Were you previously aware that this chalkboard at Railroad HQ will change based on the player's chosen codename and in-game events?
As seen below, Mercer Safehouse gets added upon completion of that quest, and Fixer gets added, which is a possible player codename.
You can read more about The Railroad here:

If you finish Fallout 4 with the Minutemen, Desdemona will act like Glory is dead even though she’s still walking around Railroad HQ.

Why does the Sole Survivor betray the Commonwealth to join the Nuka World Raiders?
So I’ve recently replayed the nuka world dlc and it got me thinking. What could drive Sole to betray all they have work for in the main game like that? What happened in main game for them to do this? What made them change sides?
Sole is a prewar person with strong morals who wanted to stop the war and was ready to become a whole ass activist to stop it.
Then, they join a faction that helps people one way or another, they rebuild the commonwealth one settlement at a time and even if they show violent tendencies or greed or even apathy, you still have to do the right thing (a general right thing like stopping a murdered by killing them instead of making him see the error of his ways). So throught the whole game they are helpful and want to build something.
So, why do they became a raider? REVENGE.
Sole already visited nuka world and became overboss, or at least had some contact with Gage and the raiders. They leave when they ask them to take over the commonwealth because they still have friends and family in there. Also, big morals.
I imagine a Sole whose main faction ordered them to blow the Institute and they refused. A Sole that wanted to rescue their son and save the scientists but whose faction saw this as betrayal or a coop. All those scientists were at fault for creating the synths, for abusing technology, for the disaperences and the deaths, of the fear that took a hold of the Commonwealth as a whole. All of them deserved to fall with their home. None of them deserved redemption.
Sole is mad that this is the hill their faction decided to died on. They try to go against them anyway, sneaking letters or sending another companion to get the scientists to run. But the faction catches on almost immediately and acts on their plan to avoid any more obstacles. Maybe the companion they trusted ratted them out. I want to see multiple companions against Sole and their resolve to save the Institute.
Imagine Sole being grabbed by their arms on top of the mass fussion building while the faction stand over the detonator, repeating their monologue while Soul just cries. A quiet cry with tears running down their face. And then the faction approach the detonator and Sole just starts screaming, they elbow their captors and tackles the faction leader and starts beating them while screaming bloody murder about how they trusted them, how after everything they gave the faction still chooses their paranoia over their true enemies and about how they betray their oath of protecting the commonwealth when they are about to destroy a large part of it. If romanced (Deacon or Preston) then they also yell how they thought he cared about them and their situation but he only cares about his own mission.
The rest of the faction catches them again and hold them down while the faction finally detonates the bomb. Sole struggles, yells and cries. After a few minutes they keep quiet and rests their forehead on the ground, promising to end this faction and make all who were with them PAY. (This includes settlements like Abernathy, Finch Farm or even the Slog) .
The faction lets them go since they had a huge part on their victory. Maybe they demote them or full on expell them but Sole gets to walk away.
Sole takes dogmeat and goes straight to nuka world. They are going to burn this city to the ground. The Commonwealth took their baby and there was hell to pay.
... extra points if that faction was the minutemen and Sole is just disgusted by the doble morals. (also applied to the railroad and Desdemona that treats the courses as ITS even though they are synths too)

I really REALLY hate it when Desdemona tries to force your hand on who you side with. Like why can’t we make the Railroad and Minutemen work together? God Bethesda do better.

Fantasy racism almost always handled very badly and uncomfortable way but it is extra bad with fallout 4.
Like I enjoy game but synth writing is so bad. My options of way of treating them is enslave this guys, kill this guys, or be a white saviour to this guys. I wanna help this guys but I want them to have their own opinions you know. I need more Glory less Desdemona. Nick also should be more vocal about synth and robot rights he talks about it but not enough. I love him a lot one of my faves but he is written and act like one of the good ones. Internalised synthphobia.
Also all mind-wipe thing.
Also coursers being seen as pure evil always evil same level evil with instutue. Like this guys are also synths they are also enslaved they are as much as victims as others you need to save them too. Game tried to make me sympathise with fucking Kellogg of all people but x6 written like he is sadistic beyond saving pure evil and guilty murderer. One joined instutue voluntary other is literally created and brainwashed and threatened with mindwipe.
Actually it's not the way story elements exist but how narrative treats them. Like way characters act make sense. But story want me to think in a way that doesn't make sense. Yeah man I feel so good with helping this good synths and killing bad ones and deciding which one is evil which one is not. Only good ones deserve freedom after all. Yeah brotherhood rules they allow nick with me doesn't matter they treat him like my rabid pet.
I wan not going to write that long because its not that deep and I don't care that much but I wrote that much. Sorry. This is like my version of being Tumblr user who gets angry on child cartoon because it is not handling political themes good. My Steven universe rant. Anyways I will again turn my brain off it doesn't worth it that much criticizing. It's badly written.
