Dustin, to his Tiktok audience: Isn’t it insane how no one experiences the same thing in the same way?
Dustin: For example, I DD’ed for Steve and Eddie the other night and this what Steve had to say about it *shows screenshot of Steve’s long Facebook post about how they went on such a wonderful date and how nice it was to just have a fun night out. He posts these really nice pictures of them and even thanked Dustin for driving them. It’s real sweet*
Dustin: Eddie experienced this *shows a video that Eddie sent him of him and Steve at Dave and Busters. They are both drunk and Steve is playing that basketball arcade game with a weird amount of focus. Eddie’s got the camera so close to his face like he’s leaving an audio text, talking about how much he fucking loves ‘your mom’ and loves his tight jeans*
Dustin: Mind you, I neither dropped them off or picked them up from Dave and Busters. I have no idea when or why they went there.
Dustin: And I experienced this *shows compilation of him and El driving a drunk Steve and Eddie home. It starts with Eddie swinging the door open to his backseat and sticking his head in like ‘what’s up, fuckers.’ Highlights include Eddie trying to change the radio from the backseat with his foot, Steve not-so-subtly trying to sus out if Dustin and El are on a date (they’re not), and the blissful silence that turned out to be the two of them laying down in the backseat and making out. Dustin sprays them with a spray bottle that he pulled out of nowhere, “Hey, no kissing in my car.”
Eddie pops up and thanks him for ‘cooling him off’ so he doesn’t ‘blow his load’ in Dustin’s backseat which is a sentence that Dustin could’ve went his whole life without hearing, but Steve thinks is hilarious. He laughs so hard that he snorts and that just makes Eddie want to kiss him more.
Dustin dropped them off at home and Steve thanked him by knocking his hat off his head and saying, “Don’t go adopting anymore lizards, yeah? Text ya later, alligator.”*
Dustin: Conclusion, you guys are the worst. Get an Uber next time.

Chosen friends.
Eddie munson x hopper!reader
Summary: hopper obviously dislikes Eddie especially since he's dating you. But what happens when he agrees with hopper about Mike and el.
"And you Eddie munson have no right and I mean none to be talking right now." Hopper rants at Eddie. Hopper didn't dislike Eddie. He knew he meant well. He disliked him dating you. Eddie was being his usual annoying self and hopper wasn't having it.
"I want you to go home and-" but Eddie cuts him off.
"OK, hop as amusing as this is turn around." Eddie says, pointing at els door, which is shut. Hopper glances back at Eddie and smirks. He nods, and the two boys walk over to the door. Your sat on the couch absolutely confused.
Your dad went from arguing with Eddie to seeming like there best buddies. "Do the honours?" Hopper says to Eddie.
Eddie nods and back kicks the door to which hopper sees Mike and el spring apart from there kissing session. "What are the rules about this door?" Hopper says Eddie turns and stands next to him.
"IT must've blew shut on its own-" Mike turns red trying to explain getting cut off by Eddie.
"Bullshit." Eddie says smirking.
Mike looks between Eddie and hopper.
"Sorry dad I must've accidentally closed it on our way in." El says smiling at hopper.
"One rule. Door. Stays. Open. Three. Inches. And neither of u can remember that rule." Hopper says glaring at them.
"If you ask me Hopper I'd kick Mike right on out make him bike home in the rain." Eddie grins. Hopper nods stood next to Eddie.
"What no. Eddie were friends why are you doing this remember me. Mike. YOUR FRIEND." Mike glares at Eddie. Eddie shrugs.
"Sorry Mike but you broke the rule its only fair." Eddie says as hopper nods.
"Your right Eddie. Mike. Out. I don't wanna see you until lunch time tomorrow." Hopper says. Mike stutters but Eddie raises his eyebrows. Mike let's out an annoyed groan standing up and getting his backpack. Hopper and Eddie step aside as he walks out of els room.
"Bye el see you tomorrow, bye y/n." HE says before exiting.
"Bye?" You say very confused. Eddie comes and sits next to you on the couch putting his arm around your shoulders while hopper scolds el.
"What just happened?" You say looking at Eddie.
"Your dad realised Mike's way worse then me and I agreed with him to kick Mike's ass." HE says kissing you. "Mmm kiss me again." You say before Eddie kisses you again and again and again. You pull apart before you start making out on the couch and your dad walks in.
"Common let's go to my room." You say standing up putting a hand out for Eddie. He grabs it and stands but as you walk past hopper Eddie speaks. "Hey hop does that 3 inch rule apply to us?" Eddie askes.
"What no just no funny business." HE says before turning back to el. You and Eddie enter your room and are on eachother immediately. You lay in your back on your bed and Eddie is on top for you kissing you leaving hickeys in noticeable places.
Does he care? No. Do you? No. And that's all that matters.
-
Your stood at your locker the next day when Eddie comes sprinting towards you wrapping his arms around your waist and making you stand infront of him. "Eddie wha-" but before tou can finish your question its answered by an annoyed looking Mike wheeler.
"I hate you so much Eddie." Mike says going to grab Eddie but he moves you in front of him.
"Can't touch me you hurt y/n me and hopper will beat your ass." Eddie says poking his tongue out at Mike over your shoulder. Mike let's out a noise of annoyance before storming off.
"And as for you my lady." HE says turning you to face him and kiss him. "Hey you." HE says finally.
"Mmm hey." You say kissing him again. He wraps his arms around you and you do that same as he puts his head on your shoulder. Dustin comes wondering over confused. "Hey you guys. Jesus Eddie did you attack the poor girl." Dustin says motioning at your neck.
Eddie laughs a little kissing the side of your neck before standing up straight. Mike then comes storming back over. "Just so you know your way worse then me. We was just kissing you two were clearing doing something else and you have the nerve to-" Mike attempts to shout at Eddie but Eddie's to quick.
He takes the bandana out his back pocket and wedges it in Mike's mouth as he talks. "Thank god that worked." Eddie said wrapping his arm around you earning a laugh from Dustin.
Mike throws the bandana at Eddie before storming off again. Dustin still cackling. "Common." Eddie says taking your hand and walking off.
He wraps his arm over you kissing your head.
"I love you so much Eddie munson." You giggle.
"I love you so much too y/n hop- munson. Y/n munson. That sounds better." Eddie smirks as you step closer to his side.
"Mr munson why is Mr wheeler telling me you shoved a bandana in his mouth." Principal Higgins shouts after Eddie. Eddie turns to see Mike stood next to the principal.
"You snitch!" Eddie shouts.
"My office now both of you." Higgins says stood waiting for Eddie.
Eddie kisses you quickly. "Love you see you after school." HE says walking over to Higgins
"More like after detention." You shout back.
Eddie smirks looking back at you before looking at Mike.
"I'm telling hop all about this." Eddie says in Mike's ear as they enter the office.
Eddie and Mike sit Higgins in front of them. But before they can speak you appear outside the office door which was left open. "Love you too by the way, Ed." You say before running off.
"Miss hopper!" Higgins yells as you run out of the room.
Eddie smirks sitting back in the chair. Yep, that was his girl.

Steve is many things, but he's not a liar. He might not always tell the truth, sure, but that's either because of his stubborn denial of things or because people simply don't ask. However, if he's asked directly, he will absutely not lie.
Autumn of 1986 finds him in deep friendship with Eddie, except it's not just a friendship for him, it's love. Plain and simple. But Eddie never asks and Steve doesn't push it because having Eddie as a friend is much better than not having him at all. All is well, they still wrangle the kids, smoke together, see questionable movies. Eddie graduates, but he still sometimes does special campaigns for Hellfire when the kids ask him.
It happens more often than not that Steve barges in at the most inconvenient moment, glaring at Eddie. This time is no different. "I swear to god, Munson, will you ever finish your game on time? I've been sitting outside for half an hour and it's cold as hell! One more time and I swear I will strangle you!"
Eddie just smiles sheepishly, but before he can answer, Mike, puberty in full swing, rolls his eyes. "Oh shut up, Steve. You love Eddie."
And Steve doesn't deny it. He just redirects his frown at Mike and adopts his best pissed off mom posture. "So what if I do, Wheeler? You guys are still late! I'm not freezing to death for any of you!"
There's loud clattering of dice as Dustin drops his on the floor and then bangs his head on the desk when he tries to pick them up. Lucas, Gareth and Jeff are gaping at Steve and Mike is, for once, speechless. Will has the gentlest smile on his face and looks at Steve as if he was his hero. Erica snorts and mumbles "well, duh."
Eddie just stares at Steve and accidentally flips his DM screen. He keeps opening and closing his mouth and his pale skin is turning a very non-metal shade or pink.
And Steve doesn't see anything wrong with what he said because he doesn't lie, it's as straightforward as that. "If you have enough time to stare, Munson, you also have enough time to wrap up whatever monster hunting you have going on. I'm getting tea to thaw myself and then I'm leaving. You have 30 minutes."
None of Eddie's campaigns ever wrap up this quickly, but he outdoes himself. One "youliveasheroesinmemoriesofthistownandlivehappilyeverafterbye!" later, he basically barges into the kitchenette while the kids pack their stuff and secretly try to eavesdrop. And Steve just stands there, leaning against the counter with a mug in hand, as if he just hasn't dropped a bomb on Eddie's understanding of life, universe and everything. "So," Eddie begins and his voice croaks because he's not ready for this conversation, but he's not running away this time, "when were you going to share with the class, Steve? I mean me? The l-love thing?"
Steve just sips his tea, unbothered. "Preferably never, but Wheeler just had to push it, the asshole," he sighs and meets Eddie's gaze. "Look, it's not a big deal, it's my shit to deal with. Nothing has to change for us, but I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable."
Eddie just blinks. "Did you just call your love for me shit?"
"Um, no." Steve shakes his head. "But you have to admit, unrequited feelings are kind of shit."
And Eddie just throws up his hands and screeches "see Steve, this is why you do share these things because you misidentify shit!" and before Steve has a chance to ask for translation, Eddie kisses him, muttering between breaths how he's going to murder Steve for every week, day and hour that he kept this to himself. Steve is surprised, but also happy and they spend much longer in the kitchenette.
When they finally come out, hand in hand, Mike gives Steve the most shit-eating grin of his life. "Hey Steve," he says, voice smooth as honey, "you're late."

Eddie, school, kitten
Mostly Eddie with a lil bit of Reader 💚
Warnings: none
WC: 1k
It started out like any other Hellfire meeting. Eddie got to the drama room fifteen minutes before the rest of the guys to set up. He’d been meticulously working on the campaign since last week’s meeting ended, plotting and planning each evil plot twist. He’s so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he doesn’t even register the soft mewing until he glances at his Dungeon Master throne.
There, lounging on the worn velvet seat, is a small, gray kitten, licking at its front paw without a care in the world.
Eddie looks around the otherwise empty room, searching for its owner. “Is this…is this someone’s cat?” But there’s no response.
“Oookay,” he mumbles under his breath, turning his attention to the throne’s new occupant. “Uh, hi. I’m Eddie. You’re, uh, kinda in my seat.” Unsurprisingly, the cat shows no reaction to Eddie’s introduction, continuing to groom itself. “If I sit next to you, you’re not gonna scratch my eyes out or anything, right?” Eddie chuckles, continuing to set up while trying not to disturb the guest.
He reaches into his tin lunch box and pulls out a leftover pretzel. “Here,” he says, holding it carefully between his thumb and forefinger. “We can share.” The kitten sniffs at the snack tentatively before taking a tiny nibble. “There ya go,” Eddie smiles. “Can we be friends now?”
The cat meows as if answering his question, making him laugh again. “Methinks you need a name.” Eddie muses, scrunching his face and tilting his head in concentration. “How about…Gandalf? Y’like that?” Gandalf purrs approvingly, and Eddie nods. “Great; Gandalf it is!”
The fur on Gandalf’s back stands up as the stampede of Hellfire members approaches. Eddie scoops him up, holding him close to his chest. “Hey, keep it down!” he hisses, petting Gandalf affectionately. “You’re scaring the baby!”
“The…what?” Dustin asks incredulously, raising his eyebrows before spotting the animal in Eddie’s arms. “Dude, why do you have a cat?”
“Didn’t you have a demodog once?” Lucas reminds his friend; Eddie makes a mental note to follow up on that statement later. “Okay, but actually, why is there a cat here?”
Eddie shrugs. “Dunno. He was on my throne when I showed up, and he stuck around.”
“Does he have a name?” Mike pipes up, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“I named him Gandalf,” Eddie proudly announces, scratching underneath Gandalf’s chin. The kitten nuzzles into Eddie’s finger and gives it a little lick. “Yeah, you like that name, dontcha?”
The campaign plays out like usual, save for the meowing cat perched on Eddie’s lap for the entire game. At one point, he even lifts Gandalf up and acts like he’s the DM, which makes everyone laugh.
“What are you gonna do with Gandalf?” Gareth asks as they clean up, pointing to the snoozing feline. “You gonna keep him?”
“Nah,” Eddie shakes his head sadly. “Wayne’s super allergic.” Honestly, he’s not sure what he’s going to do. He can’t just leave the little guy here alone for the weekend; no one will be around to take care of him. And if he leaves food for him, there’s a good chance that mice will get to it first.
Before he can come up with a plan, the door swings open, nearly knocking Mike over. “Hey, this is a closed meeting!” he complains, but his whine is drowned out by the sound of your voice.
“Oh my God, Marley!” you cry out, tears of joy pooling in your eyes when you spot your kitten in the tattooed arms of Eddie Munson. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere!”
“This is your cat?” Eddie’s crestfallen, realizing how attached he’s become to Gandalf–Marley–in a short span of time.
You nod enthusiastically. “We just got him last week. He must’ve crawled into my backpack this morning and gotten out when I put it down during drama class today,” you explain. “The only reason I knew he got in there was because my after-school snack was nibbled on.”
“Pretzels?” Eddie asks.
“Huh?”
“Never mind.” He waves off his comment. “He’s a really sweet cat. And I think he’s my good luck charm. First time in ages that these little weirdos didn’t beat my campaign.” He hands Marley to you, and you catch the despondent expression etched on his face.
“Thank you for taking such good care of him,” you say softly. “I’m Y/N, by the way.”
“Eddie,” he introduces himself, pinching his eyebrows together when you laugh. “What?”
“As if I don’t know the guy who’s constantly giving speeches on top of the cafeteria tables,” you tease, rubbing between Marley’s ears.
A blush creeps into his cheeks and he smiles back at you. “It was my pleasure.” He tries to sound nonchalant as he says to Marley, “Thanks for keeping me company, little guy.”
“Looks like you two really hit it off,” you giggle. Eddie just nods, giving Marley a little pet. You watch his ringed fingers stroke the kitten’s fur, and you press on before you can lose your nerve. “Listen, if you ever wanna stop by my place and visit him, you’re more than welcome.”
Eddie’s eyes light up, though you’re not sure if it’s the prospect of seeing you or Marley. “That would be awesome!” He cocks his head. “I can give you guys a ride home, if that’s okay.”
“Hmm,” you pretend to consider his offer. “What do you say, Marls?” You lift Marley so he’s eye-level with you, and he presses his cold, pink nose to yours. “Okay, he approves. Just gotta stop by my locker first.”
“Well, since we’re not going our separate ways yet, I’ll just…” He takes Marley from your grasp and snuggles his face into his back.
You laugh again, rolling your eyes playfully. “Come on, let’s get going.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Eddie trails behind you. You’re a few steps ahead, but you still hear him whisper to the cat, “Maybe you can help me ask your mommy on a date.”

Chain 'round My Neck - Steve Harrington
Tumblr media
Summary: It's yours and Steve's second anniversary, and he's distracted by something.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Word count: 1.3k
Warnings: none! literally all fluff!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Steve had been jittery all day.
From the moment he left Family Video, he had been distracted, barely able to keep his attention on anything for longer than five seconds.
You had asked him multiple questions that had him humming absentmindedly in response, before realising that you actually wanted an answer. His head would whip to you, a lost look on his face letting you know that he hadn’t even heard the question in the first place.
Even as he drove, his eyes were clouded over. Whatever it was that had him thinking this hard, it had his full attention. You didn’t quite know how to feel about it.
It was yours and Steve’s second anniversary, and the fact that he was lost with the fairies was casting a shadow over your plans for the night.
It was weird to think that it had only been just over two years ago that you and Steve had been shouting at each other while fighting demo-dogs and trying to protect a bunch of middle school nerds.
Shared trauma really did wonders for the soul.
“You know, Dustin mentioned that Mike is flying to California next week,” you said as the two of you got out of the car in front of the diner. “Apparently Nancy isn’t going, for some reason.”
Steve took your hand in his. “Oh, really?” He had that far-off tone in his voice that had you looking up from the ground to him. His eyes were darting around at everything you passed, barely fixing on anything for more than a second.
“Is everything OK?” you asked, brows furrowed.
“Hmm? Oh, yeah—everything’s fine. I’m just…hungry,” he trailed off, and you nodded slowly.
Taking your normal booth inside, you didn’t even need to grab the menus. You came here enough to know it back to front, inside and out. Plus, you chose the same thing nearly every time.
Steve did, too, so you became even more suspicious when he took the menu, holding it up high as his eyes ran over the words faster than he could read them.
Even sitting across from him, you could feel his leg bouncing up and down.
You put a hand on the top of the menu, pushing it down just enough to make eye contact over the top of it. You raised a brow when he finally looked at you, as if to ask Are you good?
He gave you a reassuring smile, before pursing his lips and placing the menu on the table. “What were you saying about Dustin earlier?” His attempt at nonchalance was commendable, but you saw straight through it anyway.
“Mike is flying to California next week,” you explained again, “and Nancy isn’t going with him.”
Steve frowned. “Why?”
You shrugged. “He didn’t say. But he did hear Mike say that it might have something to do with college.”
“You think they’re not going to the same college?”
You opened your mouth, but hesitated. You knew that Nancy was still sort of friends with Steve, and Steve liked Nancy a lot more than he liked Jonathan. “I just hope that Jonathan does what’s best for him. He’s always doing everything for everyone else. I hope he does what he wants.”
Steve sent you a small smile, and for a second you thought that he was back to normal. But then he shifted in his seat, and that nervous look passed over him again. He shifted again, eyes shooting to you for a split second before they were back on the table.
You cocked your head, eyes running over him. He had a slight flush to his cheeks, one that he’d been sporting all afternoon. “Are you OK? Anyone would think you were going to propose,” you joked, hoping that the joke landed.
His eyes shot to you again, but he shook his head and chuckled. “No—” then immediately straightened and amended, “—I—I mean, I do want to—but just, not right now. Unless you do—”
Despite the insane flutter of you heart at his words, you placed your hand on his. “I was only joking, babe.”
Steve chuckled again, some of the tension leaving his shoulders as he turned his hand over and took yours in it. His thumb traced back and forth over the back of your hand, leaving the skin there feeling red hot.
He smiled as you squeezed his hand—a proper smile—one that had you mirroring it as you stared at each other.
After a second, he swallowed. “I got you something.”
You froze. “I thought we said no gifts.”
Steve shot you a look. “First of all, as if I wouldn’t get you a gift. And second, don’t think that I don’t know you got me something, too.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but he was right. His gift was perfectly wrapped and sitting on your bedside table.
Steve let go of your hand and reached down to pull a small rectangular box from his pocket. He hesitated for only a moment, finally conceding and handing you the purple box. It was light, not heavy like you expected it to be, and there was a ribbon of your favourite colour tied around it.
You glanced up at him and he nodded for you to continue. You pulled the ribbon, letting it fall to the table as you took the lid off.
It revealed a necklace. A thin interlocking chain, with a small pendant in the centre.
A letter pendent.
The letter ‘S’.
You looked up from the necklace to Steve.
“It’s a necklace,” he rushed. “I mean, obviously, but it’s for you and, I guess in some way, me. Because you always like having something of mine with you, so I thought—” He sucked in a breath. “—I thought that this was like you carrying a little piece of me everywhere.” By the end, he was trailing off.
You blinked at him. “Steve,” you managed, feeling the tears prick behind your eyes. “This is…” Every possible word flashed through your mind, but you couldn’t find the right one for just how much this gift meant to you. “It’s beautiful.”
Steve closed his eyes for a split second as he heaved out a sigh of relief. “You like it?”
“I love it,” you promised, tracing it with your tip of your finger. “Can you help me put it on?”
He nodded, immediately up to assist you, his fingers warm against the back of your neck as they fiddled with the clasp. Once it was secured, he returned to his seat, eyes on the pendent as it rested between your collarbones.
You reached up and twirled it between your fingers. It felt at home around your neck, like it had always belonged there. In some way, it had.
Steve was beaming as he watched you.
“Thank you,” you said, through a grin of your own. “It’s perfect. I love it. I love you.”
His eyes dipped from the necklace to your face as you dropped your hand. “I’m glad you like it. I was so worried that you would think it was weird—”
“—You? Worried? I never would have guessed,” you teased, laughing as he rolled his eyes.
He fell back into his usual charming self, the one that had been missing all day. “Laugh it up all you want, babe. I’d like to see your present top this one.”
You grinned. “Who says it won’t? Maybe I got you something even better.”
“Impossible.”
He was right, and you just shook your head as you leaned over and kissed him.

theo- [smirks] you know im not fan of you being passive aggressive as fuck right now. why dont you skip all this shit and ask me what you want to ask me.
scarlett- okay if dustin was the type youd settle down for. whyd you cheat on him twice? i mean the second time you full on left us. him everything you built. the first time well you just couldnt control your dick.

theo- dad knows everything im about to say to you.
scarlett- so say it again.
theo- thank you. so the first time was just stupid and im paying for that with my health. you want answers to why i left you guys and although dustin and i have been good for awhile. i never apologized to you, robin or river. that was my oversight. i could it here and give excuses but there are none. the problemw ith these types of shows, scarlett. especially with guys like me who are completely full of themselves..these shows feed into that. a house full of people who want to fuck me? as a young guy? are you kidding me? i mean, scar do you really think that it was just marlee and lillie i was involved with before dustin? i thought everyone wanted me and i acted as such. so all that aside, i turn 50. im married, i have a five year old you at home to take care of since marlees head is so far up jamis ass by then. BUT the problem is im still thinking like that. like everyone wants me. how could i say no i thought. it had nothing to do with your dad.dustin wanting kids. it had everything to dowith me. im a shitty person. no excuses. i left. and then i woke up. and then sex with strangers wasnt hitting like it did before. woke up alone strung out. still had to go to work . still had to see your father everyday knowing what i did to him. the worst thing ive ever done was hurt that man. it wasnt a quick forgive for him. i was on my knees literally some days. and he rightfully told me to fuck off. he had you guys to look out for.
scarlett- how did you get dad to forgive you? i barely remember you moving back in. you were just there.
theo- wasnt easy . like at all. and i didnt deserve his forgiveness. it took time a lot of it. i had to prove that he could trust me again. we started right back at the beginning. less sex this time though.
scarlett-youre gross
theo- some things dont change
scarlett- do you think dad trusts you now?
theo- if he doesnt? he has every right not to. but id hope in the ten years that weve patched things up that he does. id like to think he does.
scarlett- i still dont
theo- understandable. i dont think river or robin really trust me either. but im grateful youre giving me a chance scarlett. that youre even speaking to me. even if this thing started off as a witchhunt. and your dads probably going to kill me when i get home.
scarlett-[sighs] blake, start the live.
theo- whats this?
scarlett- just wrapping up. do you have any regrets in doing the bachelor?
theo- i regret how i treated the people on it.

It Had To be You 2 (s.h)
Tumblr media
Summary: Dustin and the rest of the gang trick you and Steve into reliving your first date
AN: here is part 2!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Part 1
Wedding Countdown: 6 Days
You stared at the number on your mother’s calendar and wished time would just stand still. Was it 6 days already? You felt like you just got engaged and now you’re getting married in 6 days.
But why were you wishing time would stop? You loved Nick, you wanted to marry him so why did you want everything to stop? You thought coming back to Hawkins would make things easier, prove you made the right choice but now you weren’t so sure.
The sound of the phone made you jump from your spot in the kitchen and forced you to shake away whatever thoughts you were having.
“Hello?” You answered. “Y/n! It’s Dustin! The movie theater is having a special showing of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and we know it’s your favorite movie so we thought we’d ask if you wanted to come with us.” Dustin rambled.
“Who’s we?” You questioned. “The usual gang. Don’t worry, Steve won’t be there. He’s working.” The boy answered.
You hadn’t seen “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” in a while, plus it would be nice to catch up with everyone. And Steve won’t be there.
“Sure, I’ll be there.” You said. “Great! We’ll meet you there!” Dustin practically yelled before hanging up the phone. “Well, what did she say?” Max asked. “She’s in. Now all we gotta do is get Steve there and the plan will start working.” Dustin answered.
“I have gathered you all here this evening to talking about Y/N and Steve.” Dustin announced to his group of friends. “What about Y/N and Steve?” Mike asked. “They belong together, but they’re both too dumb to realize it.” Dustin answered. “In case you forgot, Y/N’s getting married.” Robin said.
“I know she’s getting married but Nick sucks. She belongs with Steve and you all are thinking the same thing. They were so much happier when they were together.” Dustin rebutted. “Until Steve stupidly told Nancy all about his and Y/N’s dream.” Max interjected.
“He’s completely 10000% over Nancy. He told me himself that he felt what love is supposed to feel like with Y/N. No offense, Nance.” Dustin said.
“None taken. I agree. Nick does suck, he’s boring and all he could talk about was golf. Y/N hates golf.” Nancy replied. “And, she barely calls home since they got together. It’s like he won’t let her have any connection to her life here.” Max added.
“So what do we do? We have nine days to get Y/N and Steve back together.” Will asked. “We remind them what being together felt like. All the good times they had together. Maybe if they’re actually able to be around each other and talk, they’ll see how stupid it was to break up in the first place.” Dustin explained.
“I’m in.” Robin said. “Me too.” Max added. And one by one, all members of the friend group agreed to Dustin’s plan. To try and get you and Steve back together before you were meant to walk down the aisle.
You stood in front of the movie theater, looking around for your friends. You checked your watch and the movie was meant to start in 10 minutes and you weren’t about to be late.
“Y/N?” You heard behind you. “Steve. What are you doing here?” You asked. “Dustin said they were showing ‘Risky Business’ and asked if I wanted to see it. What are you doing here?” Steve questioned. “Dustin told me they were showing ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and asked if I also wanted to see it.” You answered.
“He set us up.” You spoke, once you connected the dots. “What do you mean?” Steve asked. “He’s trying to recreate our first date. You asked me to a showing of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ because you knew it was my favorite movie and wanted to impress me. ‘Risky Business’ isn’t even playing today.” You explained.
“I’m gonna kill him.” Steve muttered.
The two of you stood there awkwardly, both deciding what to do. Do you stay and watch the movie or do you leave? “D-Do you maybe want to watch it with me? It would be pretty pathetic for me to see it by myself.” You suggested.
Steve thought he was hearing things for a second. There was no way you asked him to see a movie. Not after how your last conversation went.
“Really? Are you sure?” Steve asked. “We’re both here. Might as well.” You answered. Steve rapidly nodded his head before following into the movie theater.
The movie ended and you were frantically trying to wipe the tears from your face as you both exited the theater. “The ending still makes you cry?” Steve asked, a fond smile on his face. “It gets me every time.” You replied.
“You always did cry at a happy ending.” He commented. “You cried at The Goonies.” You rebutted. “Touché.” Steve replied.
“On our first date, what came after the movie?” He asked. “What, you don’t remember?” You asked. “No I remember. I just want to hear you explain it.” Steve answered.
You stifled at laugh as the two of you walked down the sidewalk. “Well, it was the night of the Snowball and you were Dustin’s ride so we went back to the school. We could hear the music from outside and you asked me to dance. So we stood in front of the headlights of your car and danced to Cyndi Lauper.” You explained.
“Everything felt so normal then. Like nothing could go wrong.” Steve said. “And then it did. I wish we could go back to that night.” You added.
Steve then stopped walking and you turned around to look at him with furrowed brows. “What?” You asked. “Come with me.” He said. “Where are we going?” You questioned. “You said you wanted to go back to that night, so let’s go.” He answered.
You looked at Steve’s hand held out for you to take. Every part of your brain was telling you not to take his hand. But since when have you ever listened to your head?
Taking Steve’s hand, he led you to his car and opened the door for you. You hadn’t seen Steve look that excited for something in a long time.
“Steve, we look so weird.” You laughed as Steve nearly dragged you out of the car. “Schools out for the Summer, no one’s going to care.” He said. “Two adults hanging around a school at night is weird.” You rebutted.
“Shh this is supposed to be nostalgic.” Steve replied. You watched him as he grabbed a tape and pushed it into the radio.
Your stomach started doing flips when you heard the familiar tune of “Crazy For You” by Madonna. The Winter before Vecna, you made Steve listen to the song on repeat for months.
It was your favorite song because it reminded you of Steve.
“You remember this song?” Steve asked, grabbing your hand and beginning to dance with you. “Of course I remember. I love Madonna.” You answered.
“This is the first time I’ve heard this song since you left.” Steve said. “I haven’t either.” You whispered. “I want to say I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for ever making you think that I wasn’t all in with you. It was shitty of me. I had this amazing, funny, beautiful woman and I made her feel second best. Probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever done.” He confessed.
“It definitely was the stupidest thing you ever did.” You agreed. Steve laughed, which caused you to laugh and it felt normal. It felt natural and it felt great.
You hadn’t felt that at ease in years.
“I really am sorry. I know it may not mean much now-“ Steve started. “No, it means everything.” You interrupted.
You both were so completely caught up in the moment, you had lost track of time. Nick was most likely home from his suit fitting.
“I should probably get home.” You said quietly. “You’re not walking home in the dark.” Steve replied. “I’ll drive you home.” He added.
“You don’t have to.” You told him. “I want to. And I won’t take no for an answer.” He said.
You eventually gave in and Steve drove the familiar route back to your house.
He pulled into the driveway and the two of you sat there in silence for a moment.
“Tonight was nice.” You finally said. “I’ll have to thank Dustin for this.” Steve said. “Don’t be a stranger, okay?” You said to him opening the door.
“You say that like we’re never going to see each other.” Steve commented. “I hope that’s not the case.” You say as you get out of the car.
You have him a wave and a warm smile as you walked to the door. Steve watched you until you got inside the house. He was about to pull out of the driveway until a car pulled up behind his.
He ducked down and saw that it was Nick exiting the passenger side.
“Yes, I’ll have your money. The second this marriage is legally binding, her money is mine. Her family is loaded. You’ll get your money. I’ll just have to dodge her brat of a sister.” He said to the driver before slamming the door.
Steve’s blood was boiling. The person you were going to marry was only after your money. Nick was just using you, he didn’t love you. Not in the way Steve loved you.
But Steve couldn’t be the one to tell you. You’d think he was saying these things because he was jealous. He needed you to find out before you walked down the aisle.
The second Steve got home, he picked up the phone and dialed the only person who could help.
“Dustin. I’m going to need your help.”

staring problem
Tumblr media
request by: @clestieloakenshield
Hi ! Can you do an eddie x reader ?
So the reader is super shy and can't stop looking at eddie because she thinks he's the most beautiful human she sees in her life and eddie found out that the reader look at him. Can you make it hot 🔥🥵 ( sorry if I make some mistakes I'm French 😂)
pairing: eddie munson x fem!reader
warnings: slight choking, reader has a thing for eddie’s hands, slight degrading if you squint
a/n: i tried to stick to request mostly but i added some things so sorry if you did not want that!! also i didn’t know if you wanted straight smut or just some spicy stuff so if you wanted smut smut let me know and i’ll make a part 2!
my masterlist
you were absolutely whipped for eddie munson. in your eyes, he was the most beautiful human being ever. you had never even talked to him.
you were extremely shy and always just stuck by your close friends. you would never dare to approach eddie. it would draw way too much attention because he was labeled as the freak. so if anyone saw you talk to him, they would most definitely bully you.
so you stuck to staring at him, constantly. like the amount of times your friends have caught you zoning out, none of them realizing that you’re staring at someone, is insane.
and yes you may have a tiny large crush on eddie and he may be so extremely attractive, and you just continue to stare, especially at his ring clad hands that just beg to be around your throat… but nothing will ever happen. you two are in completely different crowds and will probably never interact.
or so you thought.
now, eddie was more outgoing than you were. he didn’t give a shit what anyone thought or said about him. there also weren’t many people that he liked or that liked him. so when dustin had pointed out that you stared at him every day, he was very intrigued.
honestly, he was shocked he hadn’t noticed you. you were stunning to him. but he noticed that you were very quiet and tried to make yourself seem smaller all the time.
it was a couple of weeks after dustin had caught you staring and told eddie. since then, you had stopped staring as much because one day he had caught you. you were very embarrassed and tried to just pretend it didn’t happen.
eddie noticed you had been avoiding his eyes. he knew you were shy and only really talked to your best friends at school. he also noticed you did not have a car and rode your bike to school everyday. ever since dustin had pointed out your stare, eddie hasn’t stopped thinking about you. he wanted to know more. he wanted to know if you were staring at him because he was a freak, like everyone else, or if there was some other reason.
so he did something stupid. he asked dustin for help. which had dustin in full matchmaker mode. eddie hadn’t even said he liked you or anything. you were the first girl eddie had talked to him about and dustin ran with the idea that eddie had a crush on you.
dustin went into planning mode instantly. asking question after question about you to eddie. which of course he couldn’t answer, he had never even spoken to you. he told dustin everything he knew. that you were shy, you loved to read (he had never seen you without a book in your hand), quiet, beautiful, hot, loved staring at him, and you rode a bike to school.
dustin was pacing, trying to come up with something. then it hit him.
“wait for a rainy day!” he bursts out.
“what?” eddie asks, confused.
“if its raining, you can offer her a ride so she doesn’t have to bike home in the rain,” dustin explains.
“okay but how does that help me after that?’ eddie questions not convinced at all by dustin’s plan.
“talk to her on the way there, ask her about books. hopefully she lives a good distance away. and then if you guys hit it off, ask her if she would want to hang out sometime!” dustin explains, excitedly.
“woah woah woah dude,” eddie may have not cared what people thought of him but he’s not really great at asking people to hang out with him, honestly he has a fear of rejection, “i don’t know, what if she says no?”
“dude,” dustin deadpans, “she stares at you constantly, she is going to say yes, easily.”
eddie is still a little concerned and nervous but he agrees to the plan. hopefully it won’t rain for a bit so i have time to prepare, he thinks to himself.
he was not lucky. he got to school and their was a light drizzle. a sure sign that it would be pouring by the end of the school day. he was nervous all day.
you were oblivious to eddie’s glances over to you all day. you were too busy worrying about having to bike home after school. what if it was storming? you really were not in the mood to get struck by lightning. the rain had put you in an awful mood.
you’re at lunch and you’re very annoyed. not only was it raining, but your teacher had called you out in front of the entire class last period. a shy kid’s worst nightmare.
you were very on edge so you look over at eddie. you see him laughing with those kids he plays D&D with and it instantly calms you down. before you can look a way he makes eye contact with you, your eyes widen slightly, and he smiles. eddie munson just smiled at you. that’s the most interaction you’ve ever had but it cheered you up quite a bit. you actually manage to have a good day for the rest of school.
that was until you got outside. it was pouring. you’re standing under the overhang trying to stay as dry as possible while you get ready to run to your bike.
“hey y/n,” you hear a voice behind you.
holy shit. eddie munson is speaking to you? after he had smiled at you earlier? what the fuck? you realize you’ve been silent for a few seconds.
“o-oh eddie hi!” you say, extremely nervous.
“you’re not planning on biking home are you?” he asks concerned.
“u-um yea, i mean i have no other way home,” you explain.
“i can take you,” he blurts out.
your eyes widen, “are you sure? i-i wouldn’t want to cause any trouble for you.”
“i’m sure y/n, come on,” he says and grabs your hand dragging you to his car.
before you can process the fact that you were just holding hands with eddie munson you’re in the passenger seat of his van.
eddie starts the car and turns on some music.
“i love this song!” you shout over the loud music.
he looks at you shocked, “no way, this is my favorite!”
you smile as he starts driving. he turns down the music slightly.
“so y/n what’s your favorite book?” he asks going with dustin’s advice.
“w-what?” you reply caught off guard.
“we’ll i’ve just noticed that you always have a book with you,” he explains.
“oh,” eddie munson had been watching you apparently and it made you even more nervous, “it’s y/f/b (your favorite book).”
“never read it, i’ll have to check it out,” he says and you snort thinking eddie would never like that book.
“it’s probably not your style eddie,” you say.
“well it’s yours so i’m sure i’ll like it,” he says.
this catches you off guard. what did he mean by that?
you guys go back to listening to music until you arrive at your house. your parents aren’t home so you decide to invite him in. you were feeling less and less shy the more you hung out with him.
you grab two glasses from the cabinet and fill them with water and hand one to eddie.
“eddie?” you ask.
“hmm?” he responds.
“why did you offer me a ride today? i mean i could’ve ridden my bike i’ve done it before and you’ve never offered a ride those times,” you ask nervously.
“we’ll you shouldn’t ride your bike during a storm!” he scolds, ”but honestly, he i’ve been intrigued by you ever since dustin told me you are always staring at me,” he says as he steps towards you.
your eyes widen and you gulp, “u-uh i- i’m sorry. i don’t mean to,” you rant.
“y/n,” he raises a hand to your hair, “i really don’t mind,” he smirks, “i honestly quite like the attention, especially from a pretty girl like you.” eddie had realized that you quite enjoyed his company on the way here so he knew you didn’t think he was a freak. so there was only one explanation for your constant staring, y/n y/l/n a crush on him.
your breath catches in your throat. no way this was happening. no freaking way.
“e- eddie, what do yo-,” he cuts you off with his lips.
WHAT THE HELL!! eddie munson is kissing you. oh my god. what. what. what is happening. this is all you’ve ever wanted. oh my god. he’s kissing you and you’re not kissing back. he pulls away.
“i- im sorry. i don’t know what came over me. i’m sorry. i will leave right n-,” it’s your turn to cut him off. kissing him with all of your might. him kissing back. the butterflies are exploding in your stomach.
he walks you backwards toward your couch. he sits while you straddle him. his hands are wrapped around your waist while your hand is tangled in his hair. you pull slightly and he moans.
he starts to trail kisses down your neck. sucking dark bruises onto your skin at some points. you would need lots of makeup to cover those.
“e- eddie, please,” you moan.
“please what, y/n? hmm? who knew the quiet girl could be this loud,” he says as you continue to moan, “i bet you’re probably into some real kinky shit too arent ya? the quiet ones always are.”
he presses his lips to yours once again. this time he brings his hands up to your neck and squeezes lightly.
the feeling of his rings pressing into the skin of your neck has you moaning loudly and grinding down against him as the two of you continue to make out.
“i fucking knew it,” he mumbles.
“please eddie,” you groan out.
“use your words y/n baby,” he says, “what do you want?”
“i- i want you to fuck me.”

🧇 Eggos as a symbol of M*leven: an analysis
El Loves Eggos is a running thing throughout the show and I want to look at where that actually came from.
Tumblr media
does she, Michael?
because here's what it looks like when El tastes an Eggo for the first time. here's the moment of origin!!! drumroll!!!:
Tumblr media
😐
Tumblr media
Eggos are first established as a Mike thing. he's absolutely wolfing them down at the breakfast table, to the point where Nancy and Karen are both giving him weird looks. they don't know he's doing that because he's eager to go check on the feral child camping in his basement, and might both just mistake this as a sudden unexplained enthusiasm for Eggos.
I really wanted to see whether the whole family was eating Eggos or just Mike, but the scene is shot so that you can't see what's on Ted's or Karen's plates. Nancy might also have an Eggo, which she's eating with a fork and knife to let us know she's repressed and also in a doomed relationship.
then Mike hurries downstairs to give one to El and we get this non-reaction that launched a thousand toaster levers.
Tumblr media
what part of this reaction should warrant Eggos becoming her whole thing? because if she didn't "!!!!" over her first one, why would she with subsequent ones offscreen?
Mike has no inkling at this point that she likes Eggos, because.. she doesn't. At least she's given no indication that she does.
I don't know if El has ever especially liked the taste of Eggos. I think what she likes about them is Mike. also as far as she knows, they're are a major pillar of a regular people diet. to her, they're a connection to Mike and by extension to the normalcy, safety, and love that she craves.
Tumblr media
Next, El shoplifts the Eggos. out of a whole store of options. doesn't that prove she thinks they're delicious? not necessarily. I think it's just because she latched onto the only familiar thing she saw.
she clearly didn't come in here looking for them specifically, she's just hungry and she can tell this building is where food comes from, but she gets in there and is a bit lost because none of this stuff is recognizable as food to her. between Mike and Benny and the lab, she's probably never seen prepackaged foods and doesn't know what to pick, not to mention she literally doesn't have any preferences anyway. she's wandering rather aimlessly until she sees the picture of Eggos by chance and thinks "hey!! those are the yellow circles I ate before!"
side note: notice just to the left of the Eggos she takes, is an alternate blueberry flavor. El has no reason to choose the default yellow out of familiarity because she's never seen what package they come in at all. she didn't even know they were called Eggos, or that they are a frozen product, she just spotted a picture that looked familiar. the actual Eggos pictured on the boxes don't even really look different. did she just choose the kind with the word "home" on the box? :(
Tumblr media
she eats her stolen Eggos in the woods, probably not understanding why they're not very good, because she doesn't know they need to be toasted. she's not having a good time. these are the first Eggos she's acquired on her own without Mike providing them, but as she sits there eating them, and missing Mike and all that he represents, she hears him calling her in the distance, reinforcing the Mike-Eggo link.
also wait, I see 4 boxes open, at 8 apiece, is this at a minimum her TWENTY FIFTH dry frozen Eggo she's eating right now?? my poor baby's gonna have tummy trouble in the upside down
remember right before this, Mike and Dustin saw the grocery store with the shattered door and the cops out front and realized it must be El's work? most likely after Mike got El home, he would have asked her what had happened there, and maybe she could have been in a rare mood to actually answer a direct question. Mike, not knowing her real reasons, could only have been like "whoa, you must really love Eggos!" and El, not yet knowing how to evaluate her own likes and dislikes, might have thought, "huh, yeah, I must."
Tumblr media
that's what must have happened because the next thing on the Eggo timeline is Mike telling Nancy that El REALLY likes them, despite El never having given any other indication. nobody's even mentioned Eggos for a few episodes as far as I can remember.
Then, when she asks for them, thinking she loves them now, he calls them "not real food". hmm
Tumblr media
this is the first (only?) time El mentions Eggos by name. Mike never told her what they were called - she found out for herself at the grocery store. interestingly, much of this scene is of Mike struggling to put a name on romantic attraction or even distinguish it from platonic or familial relationships.
you know how he just gave her the Eggo without explaining what it was or asking if she wanted it first, and without any frame of reference she kinda just assumed she liked it?
Tumblr media
I don't see any reason why El would already know what a kiss is or what it means. she lacks the life experience to process whether she's really into this or just thinks she is because... well, Mike seems into it, and he's easily the least abusive interpersonal relationship she's had so far, and he represents normalcy and safety and home, and she's always wanted to be loved and this feels like something to do with that, so... smile??
Tumblr media
now believing her to be the world's biggest fan, Mike comforts a distressed El with visions of a future with unlimited Eggos. we know Mike likes feeling needed, in fact he equates it with love itself, so I can see him absolutely eating up the idea of being El's Eggo-provider.
in the same sentence, he re-offers the Snow Ball thing he was talking about earlier when he kissed her. this links Eggos with M*leven, and the idea of him loving her.
then she takes out the demogorgon and disappears to the upside down.
Tumblr media
Hopper, too, must discover her apparent love of Eggos when he responds to the shoplift call and the store manager tells him that's all the bald kid stole. so that's what he leaves for her in the woods.
but to El, Eggos are a Mike thing. she doesn't know anyone else knows that she likes them. so she finds this mysterious box with Eggos in the woods - the woods, where Mike found her originally. the woods, where she sat eating Eggos and heard Mike calling to her, and practically the last thing he ever did was promise her Eggos... what can she think but that Mike left them? that after all this time out here cold and scared and alone, that Mike is still looking for her? that there's still hope for her to have a home and be loved?
she stakes out the box and discovers the Eggo-provider to be Hopper, not Mike. that's disappointing, but she reveals herself anyway because she's been Bear Gryllsing out here for I think at least a few weeks in that Nancy dress and she's pretty over it.
Hopper buys her Eggos as a regular treat when they live in the cabin, not knowing she likes them mainly because they're a reminder of the proto-relationship she's desperate to get back to.
Tumblr media
they're Hopper's go-to bribe when she isn't speaking to him. it's a strong motivator because she's been stuck in this cabin for like a year dying a slow death of isolation and FOMO. even if she's mad at the new provider, she can't bear to miss out on the Eggos because of what they represent.
Tumblr media
it's also what Hopper takes away as punishment, along with the TV, for her sneaking out. these are both indirect ways of taking away Mike (she uses the TV for static to go see him in the void) who she's already upset about having missed out on, because she saw him with Max and thinks she's taken him away, too.
also Hopper's being a dick and threatening to send her back to the lab and stuff, so thinking she has no one left in the world who loves her, she runs away to find her mom and start the life that should've been hers in the first place.
Tumblr media
Hopper checks in eventually to apologize and remind her that Eggos aren't real food. she isn't home to hear it.
Tumblr media
here she is stealing something to eat from the convenience store with Kali's gang. she takes an apple but then spots the Eggos and decides she'd rather have that than fruit, so again, she was not seeking them out. she would've made a beeline for the freezer section if she was.
this time, she gets sidetracked and doesn't actually leave the store with them. they don't seem quite as important as before.
El spends most of season 2 forcibly and unhappily separated from Mike, which yields probably the Eggo-heaviest season as she clings to them as a connection to their relationship.
she then spends most of 3 separated from Mike as well, except this time by her own choice, happily, and wouldn't you know it, the season is a pretty dry spell for Eggo references. she's having the time of her life hanging out with Max and learning about herself, and doesn't miss the relationship.
Tumblr media
she uses this freezer's hum to go void-watching, and oh, what's this? a row of Aunt Jemima brand frozen waffles encroaching on the Eggo display? she's branching out. there's more to life than stupid Eggos.
the party uses and eats and loots anything they wanted from this store, and this is her best ever opportunity to steal some sweet sweet yellow circles. in fact, she's sitting in front of the exact freezer where she grabbed all her little arms could carry in season 1. the coast is totally clear, and there are even more in stock now.
she doesn't even touch one box.
Tumblr media
season 4 starts off with this Mike toaster shot paralleling the one in season 1 for what other reason than to Eggo-bait us?
Mike's outwardly eager to get on with his spring break trip and go see El, but the fact we're prominently shown him toasting two pop tarts instead of Eggos hints at a different goal he may or may not be aware of. I don't mean this to be a byler post, but I know that's what yall are going to say and it could sure work for that, but at a minimum it hints that Mike's true priorities are drifting from his relationship with El. Mike is also allowed to realize there's more to life than stupid Eggos.
Tumblr media
oo look who's learning about other breakfast foods on her own and isn't so concerned with Mike's approval
after the rink-o-mania incident, things are weird between El and Mike and he makes her Eggos as a peace offering. it should be a cute sentimental gesture but also kinda feels a little damning that El Likes Eggos is still basically the only thing he knows about her after how long they've known each other.
the presence of Eggos in the house means that Joyce is keeping them in stock for El, who's been back on her bullshit since ten seconds before she left Hawkins. although to what degree I don't know, it depends how aware she is that she's lying to herself. either she's going through 2 packs a day keeping this relationship alive with lies and desperation, or there's been one box in the freezer awhile growing ice crystals. not sure.
either way, right now she's pissed off and doesn't want them. she never really liked Eggos, but now she's gone too long without getting what they represented, and doesn't even want that anymore.
Tumblr media
also what kind of sociopath pours syrup on someone else's Eggos an undetermined amount of time in advance and lets it get all soggy. you gotta do that yourself so it's fresh and you control your own destiny/syrup distribution. are they sitting in a giant puddle of syrup?? boy, how do you mess up EGGOS. this on its own is a dumpable offense.
Mike's idea of El is still "haha Eggo go in, superhero come out" and he looks at them like he just doesn't understand why it's not working. so he tries again like smoothing out a wrinkly dollar bill and trying it in the vending machine again. he brings her the soggy symbolic Eggos she already didn't want when they were fresh.
she doesn't look at them. it's over.
I really believe their relationship doesn't survive this scene.
Tumblr media
if this scene went on longer it would've been Mike picking up an Eggo and gently smushing it against her mouth with concern while she stares at him like
Tumblr media
also notice Mike isn't having Eggos for breakfast. he and Will are having eggs and toast (real food). he only made Eggos (not real food) for her. he's trying to give El something he doesn't really even want himself.
also what do you wanna bet Will got that syrup out for himself and Mike to put on their eggs and then Mike didn't take any and put it on El's Eggos instead.
Anyway, post fight-or-possible-breakup, El ends up at this diner with Owens. she has to have discovered a second kind of food that she likes by this point in her life, but she peers at a menu on the wall for a moment and recognizes something familiar, a lot like at the grocery store, and orders "waffles, please." she is, after all, in a pretty scary situation here - arrested, dragged off in handcuffs, federally kidnapped in the middle of the desert, and put sorta back in custody of her lifelong abusers. she kinda broke up with Mike, but it's still her habit to look for the comfort of familiarity.
Tumblr media
on the surface it's worth a chuckle because El Loves Eggos and waffles are the closest thing to Eggos you can order at a restaurant. but also it's the first time she's ever gone off-brand, isn't it?
waffles are the real food that Eggos are a junk imitation of. she wants real love, and symbolically, this is her letting go of her notion of Mike being her only option for that.
five seconds later she chooses to immediately embark on her self-discovery journey which she's been clearly warned may result in her never seeing her friends again.
she doesn't stay for the waffles at all. showing that not only has she left Mike behind, but romance, period, is not her priority at this time.

later at Surfer Boy we see what it looks like, by the way, when El really does like the taste of something. here's the !!! reaction I've been attributing to Eggos that never actually happened.
Mike is there to scowl and insist that pineapple on pizza is both insane and blasphemous. El knows how to like what she likes now, and she (on a good-natured level of course) couldn't give less of a shit whether he approves. in fact she tries to force feed it to him. the growth.
ps, she was about to codify their breakup before they got pizzablocked.
Tumblr media
Mike then lies and says he loves her at emotional gunpoint, killing Max and causing the apocalypse and stuff so the vibes get weird again.
El doesn't talk to him at all after that. and Mike makes no effort to stay near her on the approach to Hopper's cabin, which he should realize is an emotional moment for her.
our final Eggo reference is this old box in the destroyed cabin, looking like a relic of the past. Nancy finds some cleaning supplies and everybody starts sweeping and picking up trash.
Tumblr media
i'm livid that it happens just out of frame but we end the season on El STUFFING THE EGGO BOX IN HER TRASH BAG oHOHOHO CHEF KISS

Idk why this popped into my brain but it occurred to me that Eddie was probably on those celebrity editions of game shows. Celebrity Jeopardy, Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire, etc…
And it just made me laugh so hard. The idea of Eddie Munson with Regis. Of calling Steve as a phone a friend for a basketball question and Steve being like Eddie I don’t know everything about basketball. But the answer is Larry Bird.
Just TikTok finding clips of Eddie yelling “suck it, Dan Cortese!” after obliterating them all at final jeopardy.
This fills me with so much joy! I love it so much.
Eddie does not go on Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire by choice. He pissed off the band’s manager just enough that they signed him up for it without his knowledge, and he’s not doing it. He got the letter in the mail and it’s not happening.
Eddie ‘Six Years of High School’ Munson is not going on national television and making himself look like an idiot when he doesn’t even get to be in on the joke. No way.
“Dick move, man,” Gareth shrugs after Eddie put his foot down. “Even if you fuck the first question, they’re still gonna donate to your charity of choice. And like, maybe this is just the amount of money needed to cure cancer. Or epilepsy.”
“…You fucking suck, Gareth.”
“Yeah, I do!”
Eddie begrudgingly shows up and goes through the whole rigmarole to get mic’ed up, just ready to make a fool out of himself and call it a day. It turns out that he knows a lot more than he thought he did because he breezes through the first round of questions.
He knows enough about history, music, and the arts just from planning his D&D campaigns and reading about things he likes. He’s surprised by how much surface knowledge he’s gained from listening to the kids logic their way through their science and math homework, but sports are a bust.
He gets lucky on a few questions, but ends up using his Phone a Friend to call his partner, Steve. Steve and Eddie spend the first fifteen seconds arguing about how Eddie shouldn’t have wasted his phone a friend on Steve because he doesn’t know anything. And then once he hears the question, he’s like, “Larry Bird” and hangs up.
Eddie doesn’t win a millionaire dollars for his charity, but he wins quite a bit.
Afterwards when he’s still so hyped up about not being dumb, Steve’s just like ???? “Ed, you were never dumb. You just had trouble taking tests and none of your teachers accommodated your very obvious ADHD. You’ve always been brilliant.”
“Now everybody knows it.”
“Yeah,” Steve agreed. “Yeah, they do.”
Eddie signs up for Celebrity Jeopardy himself.
One of the first things that Steve and Wayne bonded over was a love for Jeopardy. Wayne has watched Jeopardy before he left for work for as long as Eddie has known him, and Steve was more than happy to sit with him when it was on. They both continued to watched even after Steve and Eddie moved to Chicago and sometimes they’d call each other if Final Jeopardy was “crazy.”
The band wasn’t touring as much as they used too and they’re all pretty much working on their own projects at this point. Steve’s finishing up his master’s degree while teaching full time and doesn’t really have a lot of time for him. Eddie is in between projects and creatively tapped out, and worst of all, he’s bored.
So when his manager passively mentions Celebrity Jeopardy, Eddie tells him to sign him up for it. When they accept his application, the only people he tells about it are Dustin and Nancy.
He only tells them because he wants their help studying for it because he wants to win this time. So, they study and it sucks. If Eddie ever sees another world famous Nancy Wheeler flashcard again, he’ll tear off his arm. He hates every second of their study sessions.
Eddie makes it through the quarterfinals and then he makes it to the semi-finals (knocking out Dan Cortese). He doesn’t win the tournament because he bets big on a Daily Double and gets it wrong, but he’s fairly close to the lead after Final Jeopardy.
It’s not bad for a guy that failed his senior year three times.
The fun part comes when it airs. He painstakingly sets up their camcorder so Steve won’t notice it before the show starts. The video he gets has a good five minutes of Steve fussing with a blanket up until they say ‘Eddie Munson.’
Steve looks up and then looks at Eddie, and then back at the tv, “Wha- what? Is that – that’s you! You’re on Jeopardy! Eddie, you’re on – oh my god, we’ve got to call Wayne.”
Before Steve can even do that, their phone is ringing and Steve answers it like, “HE DIDN’T TELL ME EITHER!” while Eddie is laughing his ass off.
When Eddie posts a TikTok about it like, ‘LOL remember when I was on Jeopardy?’ it includes this moment. It also includes footage from the semi-finales where Steve is just pacing the living room and repeatedly telling Eddie to just tell him if he won or not. Steve cheers like he’s at a football game when Eddie wins.
It’s just as tense when the video cuts to Steve watching the finale. Steve knows the answer to the daily double that Eddie gets wrong and is like, ‘This is why they should do Jeopardy Couples, we’d win so hard.’ Steve’s not even disappointed that Eddie lost, keeping the same enthusiasm through the show and then is like, “I’m married to a Jeopardy contestant. I’m so telling Janet about this at the staff meeting tomorrow.”

Chapter 20-
Tumblr media
Steve and the others left in the early hours of the morning to get some sleep with a promise of returning later with food and supplies since the cabin was literally empty.
You and Billy fell asleep on the couch together, Eddie taking Hopper's recliner even though there were three bedrooms in the cabin with perfectly fine beds inside, but none of you wanted to be alone.
The shotgun was leaning against the edge of the couch within arm's reach while you laid on the couch with Billy's arms wrapped around you, holding you against his chest. You were both awake. Had been for a while and unable to fall back asleep after the nightmares that haunted you.
Eddie was still asleep on his chair when you heard a car pull up outside the cabin.
Billy's body turned tense behind you at the sound. You peaked over the top of the couch to find the familiar Beamer parked outside through the window and quietly reassured him that it was just Steve and the others.
You sat up on the couch, kicking the blanket you had grabbed a few hours ago off your body. You walked over to the front door and unlocked it before grabbing a glass of water from the fridge just as the door suddenly slammed open.
"Jesus!" Eddie awoke with a panicked gasp, resting his hand over his chest.
"Delivery service." Dustin called out, walking in first with two bags of groceries while the others followed.
Billy snorted softly at Eddie's reaction, still laying on the couch where you had left him. Eddie glared and threw a pillow at him which Billy caught with ease and tucked it behind his head with a grin.
"Can I have my pillow back?" Eddie asked, holding his hand out.
"Nope."
Eddie rolled his eyes before kicking in the footrest of the recliner and standing up while Dustin dispersed the grocery bags on the kitchen bench beside you.
Within a few minutes, Eddie had snatched up a box of cereal and some kind of juice and was sitting on the couch with Billy who had reluctantly sat up to give Eddie room to sit.
"So, we got, uh, some good news and some bad news." Dustin began to say, looking between the three of you. "How do you prefer it?"
"Bad news first, always." Eddie answered around his mouthful of cereal.
"Alright, bad news. We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they're definitely looking for you. Also, they're pretty convinced you killed Chrissy."
"Like 100%, kinda convinced." Max added.
"And the good news?" Billy asked, his voice still rough with sleep.
"Eddie's name hasn't gone public yet. But, it's only a matter of time before it does and once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is going to be gunning for him." Robin answered, glancing over at Eddie.
"Hunt the freak, right?"
She nodded, "exactly."
"So, before that happens, we need to find Vecna, kill him and prove your innocence." Dustin explained, like it was going to be easy.
"That's all, Dustin? That's all?" Eddie questioned in disbelief.
"Yeah, no, that's pretty much it."
You rolled your eyes and sat down on the couch between Eddie and Billy before glancing over at the others.
"How do we even find Vecna? And does anyone know how to kill him?"
They all shrugged their shoulders at your question which did not fill you with much confidence, but before you could say anything else the sound of sirens wailed in the distance.
"Do you guys hear that?" You asked, hoping you were just imagining it.
"Hear what?" Steve asked, frowning in confusion.
"Fucking cops." Billy muttered, looking at the window as the sirens started to get louder.
Shit, had they followed Steve's car here? How would they know he was helping stash Eddie? Those two barely associated with each other back in school, the cops wouldn't know the connection. Right?
"Wait, I think they're just driving past." Max observed, walking over to the window and cracking it open, the sound of the police sirens getting fainter and fainter in the distance.
"Where are they off to in such a rush?" Eddie asked.
An idea suddenly occurred to you, "let's find out."
You ignored their confused expressions before you got up from the couch and disappeared into your father's bedroom to retrieve his backup Police radio from his dresser draw.
You walked back out into the main room, the others watching you curiously as you turned the nob on the top of the radio, switching it on.
"Unit 2, what's your ETA?" A female asked through the radio.
"Five minutes out. Anyone know what we're dealing with yet?" A male's voice responded.
You gently put the radio down on the table, Billy and Eddie now off the couch as the group of you huddled around it, listening intently.
"This is Unit 3, we're on scene and got another possible 187."
"Uh, does anyone know what a 187 is?" Steve asked, once it was clear that the radio chat between the officers had finished.
"No."
"Nope."
"Not a clue." The others all answered, but you just stared at the radio with a sinking feeling in your stomach.
"187 is a murder." You answered and everyone snapped their heads in your direction so fast you were surprised they hadn't given themselves whiplash. "My dad... he taught me police code. It's definitely a murder."
"I knew it." Billy whispered to himself. "Last night, I felt him... felt Vecna? I thought it was a nightmare, but maybe..."
"Maybe Vecna killed another person." Steve said in realisation and Billy nodded.
"Well, there's only one way to find out." Robin announced, pointing to the front door with her thumb.
-
Once again, the others all left, leaving you, Eddie and Billy alone in the cabin.
It wasn't that you or Billy had to stay, but you didn't feel right leaving Eddie here alone by himself after only just finding out about all of this. You didn't want to just abandon him after everything the three of you saw in his trailer yesterday.
The day went by painfully slow while you waited to hear from the others about what was going on. So far, all you knew was that Vecna had killed another person. Some kid called Fred who worked with Nancy. But that was all the others had radioed through and the more time ticked by on the clock, the more anxious and worried you were getting.
"You are literally wearing a path in the carpet. Sit the fuck down." Billy grunted from the couch, glaring at Eddie who had reverted back to pacing the length of the room.
"If you haven't noticed, man, I can't sit still on the best of days. Pacing helps calm my nerves."
"Yeah? Well, you pacing gets on my nerves." Billy grumbled.
"Deal with it, California."
Billy's glare hardened, but before he could let off whatever threat was on the tip of his tongue, El's walkie talkie went off.
"Dustin. It's Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin?"
Lucas' voice was enough to stop Eddie in his tracks and Billy sat up straight on the couch, ignoring Eddie completely in favour of the walkie talkie now in your hands as you listened.
"Lucas? Where the hell have you been?" Dustin's familiar voice replied.
"Just listen. Are you guys looking for Eddie?"
"Yeah, we found him, no thanks to you."
"You found him?" Lucas asked in pure surprise.
"Y/N and Billy are hiding him in the Chief's old cabin. Don't worry, he's safe." Dustin reassured.
"You guys know he killed Chrissy, right?"
You glanced over at Eddie after Lucas' words who looked a little uneasy at the accusation from one of his friends and you lifted the walkie about to correct the kid, but Dustin bet you to it.
"That's bullshit. Eddie tried to save Chrissy."
Hearing Dustin stand up for him made Eddie smile and you lowered the walkie back down onto the table while the kids continued to speak.
"Then why do all the cops say he did it?"
"Lucas, you are so behind it's ridiculous, okay? Just meet us at the school. We'll explain later." Max's voice suddenly said, joining the conversation.
"I can't. I think some real bad shit's about to go down."
"What are you talking about? What bad shit?"
She didn't get a response though, the radio just spitting out static noise.
"Lucas? Lucas?" Max continued to say, but received no response.
"Max, what's happening?" You asked through the walkie.
"I have no idea what's going on with Lucas, but we got a lead. Chrissy and Fred both saw the same school counsellor. We're going to get their files and see what we can find."
Well, that was a start. You nodded in response before realising that she couldn't see you.
"Okay, let us know how it goes, okay?"
"We will. Stay safe." She replied and you put the walkie back down.
"So, they both saw the same shrink. How is that going to help?" Billy asked in confusion.
You shrugged your shoulders, "no idea."
Eddie sighed before he turned and went straight back to pacing left and right across the cabin causing Billy to groan in frustration.
"Munson, I swear to God, if you keep pacing I'm going to break both of your legs."
To your own surprise, Eddie actually listened because you could no longer hear his footsteps, but there was a faint ticking noise coming from outside. Was that a clock?
"Do you guys hear that?" You asked, glancing over at them, but Eddie and Billy were frozen where they stood and sat like statues.
"What the f-"
You were cut off by a clock chime echoing from outside the cabin causing you to freeze in confusion because there was definitely no clocks outside. Hopper didn't even have a working clock inside, what was that noise?
Cautiously, you walked out the front door and looked around. The sun was now setting along the horizon. The limited sunlight barely streaming through the trees of the woods as you slowly walked down the porch steps.
The ticking began to get louder before the clock chimed loudly again. You followed the noise and were taken back when you saw an old grandfather clock imbedded inside the large oak tree in front of the cabin.
The clock chimed again as you walked towards it, the pendulum swinging backwards and forwards rivalling Eddie's own backwards and forward pacing from earlier.
You lifted your hand to touch it as it chimed for a fourth time when suddenly everything turned black.
A second later, you were opening your eyes to find yourself back inside the cabin with Billy hovering in front of you.
"Hey, hey, you with us? Y/N? Come on, talk to me, baby. Y/N? Shit. Munson, tell me you got a hold of the others on the fucking radio?!" Billy shouted, looking past you towards Eddie.
"They're on their way." Came Eddie's reply.
"Y/N? Y/N, you with me? Are you okay?" Billy questioned, cupping your face with his hands and you nodded, still trying to process what the fuck just happened.
"I-I'm okay." You stuttered, blinking a few times as you looked around in confusion.
You were outside a few seconds ago, what the hell?
"Oh, thank God." Eddie sighed, appearing beside Billy. "What just happened? You weren't responding to us, we thought... Jesus, I'm glad you're okay."
You were barely listening to Eddie, instead trying to listen for the clock, but there was no more ticking or chiming. There was nothing but silence.
"I saw... I saw a grandfather clock."
Billy blinked, "huh?"
"I saw..."
You didn't finish the sentence, instead you turned and walked out the front door, leaving Billy and Eddie standing there in confusion before they quickly rushed after you.
"Hey, where are you going?" Eddie shouted, but you ignored him and continued walking before pausing in front of the large oak tree, but the clock wasn't there. It was just a normal tree.
"It was here. Right here."
None of this made any sense. How could a clock be inside this tree one minute and then completely gone the next?
"A grandfather clock?" Billy asked, trying to clarify and you nodded. "Are you sure?"
"It was so real." You whispered, starting to feel like you were going crazy before the headlights of the Beamer suddenly came speeding down the dirt driveway and screeching to a halt beside the three of you.
"What happened? What happened?" Steve frantically questioned, practically falling out the car in his rush to get out, the others all following suit.
"I... I saw... I saw a clock, in this tree. But, it's gone..."
The more you said it aloud, the more crazier it began to sound in your head.
"Wait, what? Eddie called a Code Red and said you were in a trance or something." Dustin responded in confusion glancing over at the two guys beside you.
"She-she was. It was like what happened with Chrissy, except her eyes were still normal and not rolled back so-so... I have no idea what the fuck just happened." Eddie rambled nervously, looking over at you.
"Don't look at me. Does it look like I know what's happening?" You asked.
"I think I do." Max suddenly said, stepping forward with an uneasy expression on her face.
Oh, this won't be good.
"What are you talking about, shitbird?" Billy asked, trying not to sound worried, but failing miserably.
"Okay, so Fred and Chrissy both came to Miss Kelley for help. I was reading their files before Eddie called the Code Red, but I read enough."
"What did you read?" Nancy asked almost worriedly, knowing whatever it was, wasn't good.
"Uh, they both were having headaches and nosebleeds... I saw you taking pain killers the other day and you told me it was for a headache, and you got a blood nose when you first came home-" Max began to say, looking only at you as she spoke before Billy cut her off.
"Headaches and nosebleeds aren't uncommon. It doesn't mean anything."
"Maybe." Max nodded in agreement, but it was clear she didn't believe that. "But then they had nightmares. Trouble sleeping. They'd wakeup in a cold sweat... then they started seeing things. Bad things. From their past. And these visions, they just kept on getting worse and worse, until eventually... everything ended."
"Vecna's curse." Dustin said in realisation.
Headaches and nosebleeds? Check.
Trouble sleeping and nightmares? Double check.
Visions? Well, that would explain the grandfather clock.
"Chrissy's headaches started a week ago. Fred's six days ago. Y/N...?" Max trailed off, waiting for you to finish the sentence.
"I've been having them for five days." You admitted, lowering your head with a sigh.
Nobody said anything for the longest time. Everyone trying to process this information, but Billy just kept shaking his head in clear denial. But, you knew it was all true. There was no way all those things were just one big coincidence.
Vecna had cursed you.
Still, nobody spoke, not knowing what to say, but the group all silently migrated back inside the cabin where Eddie then continued to pace the room, but Billy didn't pay any mind to it this time.
"I... I don't know how long you have." Max began to say, breaking the silence. There were tears rising in the young girl's eyes and you knew she was trying not to cry as she spoke. "All I know is that for Fred and Chrissy, they both died less than 24 hours after their first vision."
You nodded, "and I just saw that goddamn clock, so... looks like I'm going to die tomorrow."

Bambie- Eddie Munson x Henderson!Reader
word count:2193
warnings: just fluff, and a little bit of PDA!
summary: meeting your boyfriend through your brother was the best thing to ever happen to you.
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
You and your boyfriend had very different styles. He was Metal, and you were more or less a 70s queen. While he wore his leather jacket, Hellfire shirt, and denim vest with clunky cold rings adorning his guitar-playing fingers. You would wear your flowy dresses whether they be short or long it depended on the day, bell bottoms, and halter tops. You listened to Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and the Eagles, he listened to Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, and Metallica. But there was something that drew you toward each other. One of those things being your relationship with Dustin Henderson. You just so happened to Dustin’s older sister who dropped in during the school day to check on him, which included checking up on him during your lunch period. He sat with his usual group consisting of the guys that made up the Hellfire club. You would walk over softly and check up on your little brother, just to make sure he was doing alright.
You walked over to the table your brother always sat at with his D&D club. “Hey, Dusty,” You said as you placed a hand on your brother's shoulder. Everyone turned to look at you when they heard your voice. You got a bit nervous as everyone looked at you. “Hey, (y/n)! What are you doing here?” your little brother asked you trying to get your attention off of his friends looking at you in curiosity. “Woah, Woah, wait,” Eddie spoke up and they all turned to look at him. Your eyes went wide as your head snapped up to glance at him. You wore a short floral skirt and a white halter top along with your white boots and orange hoops. “Dustin, who’s this?” he asked as he looked at you almost in awe. “Oh, this is my sister,” He answered simply. “You never said you had a sister!” Gareth said loudly. You chuckled a bit at their reactions.
Eddie couldn’t look away from you, he thought you were gorgeous. Little did he know, you thought he was equally as handsome with big brown eyes and a charming smile. His hair was long and rings adorned his fingers while tattoos were visible along his arms. You could’ve sworn you fell for him right then. “So, (y/n), that’s your name right?” Eddie asked and you nodded your head at him. “Pretty name for a pretty girl,” he said with a smug smile he always tended to wear. A small blush crept up to your cheeks, and he swore his heart stopped for a second. “What brought you over here?” he asked the seemingly silly question seeing as the obvious reason was your brother.
“Well, I uh, I just came to check up on Dustin,” you answered, Mike and Lucas, looked up at you in mock offense. “What about us?” they asked practically in unison. You laughed once again, “And these guys of course,” you said and squeezed their shoulders. “We’re ok Bambie,” Dustin smiled up at you. Eddie melted as he heard your laugh and that nickname Dustin so casually called you. Dustin and your mother had always called you Bambie because of your personality and how shy and sweet you were. It was something that just stuck.
“Do you want me to drive you guys home?” you asked. “Yes, please,” the boys said and you smiled. “Alright, does Erica need a ride too?” you asked Lucas. “No mom pulled her out early for a dentist appointment,” He explained. “Alright well, I guess I’ll get goi-” before you could finish Eddie spoke up. “Why don’t you stay?” He asked and pushed Mike down the bench a bit more so there was a space next to him for you. “I don’t want to barge in, or embarrass Dustin,” you said and shrugged. “You can sit with us (y/n), I haven’t gotten to spend much time with you lately,” Dustin said and you smiled sympathetically at him. “Well, then I guess I’ll stay as long as none of you mind,” You said and looked at everyone else sitting at the table. They all had a dazed look in their eyes as they looked at you. You were bashful underneath their stares. Eddie could sense the discomfort from you and turned to look at everyone. “C’mon guys, I know she’s gorgeous but stop fucking staring you’re making her uncomfortable,” he said. Your blush came back at his words and you glanced away. “Everyone just shut up, don’t gawk at my sister,” your brother spoke up and you smiled over at him.
“Sorry,” they all mumbled and turned back to their food. “S’ ok,” you said, and the next thing you knew your tray had been taken from you and set on the table. Eddie had taken it from your hands and set it down before reaching a hand out to shake yours. He grasped your hand and you shivered at the feeling of the cold rings on his fingers. Gently he lifted your hand and placed a kiss on your knuckles and that’s where it all began.
You and Eddie did get strange looks in the hallway but you never minded that. You were happy with him and so everyone else’s opinions didn’t matter. He held your hand in his as you walked through the school and to the exit your dress billowed around your mid-thigh, and the long sleeves almost seemed to swallow your arms in the bell-like shape. Not feeling like wearing platforms that day you decided on your converse, and though you were never taller than your boyfriend you enjoyed the height difference. You looked up at him with a smile and let go of his hand before lifting his arm and resting it around your shoulders. He glanced down at you with a smile and chuckled as you again reached up to intertwine your fingers with his hand that sat on your shoulder. “Comfy, Bambie?” he asked with a raised brow, and you flashed him a big smile. He had adopted the sweet nickname you were so graciously given by your mother. “Yeah, yeah I am,” you answered as you exited the school.
He walked with you to your car. You leaned into his side and rested your head on his shoulder. He looked down at you just to see that you were already looking at him. “Why are you staring at me princess?” he asked with a raised brow. You smiled shyly, “I just love you that’s all,” you said softly and reached up on your toes to kiss his jaw. He chuckled and pulled you closer, “I love you too Bambie,” he said and kissed your head.
He leaned back against the car with his arms locked around your waist, his hands clasped at the small of your back. Your fingers were hooked in his belt loops just to keep close, it was something that had become a habit of yours. His hands would rest in your back pockets or clasped around your waist while your fingers were curled through his belt loops. He smiled softly at the small action. You would sometimes let your fingers trace the waist of his jeans just under his shirt.
“You know, you make those kids really happy, you make my brother happy and I don’t know how to thank you for that,” you admitted with utmost sincerity. He had a slight look of surprise on his face, but he just smiled down at you. “It’s safe to say that they make me happy too, plus, that little brother of yours, he’s a good kid,” he said and you smiled brightly, “Yeah he is, mom raised him right,” you said, and moved your hands up to fiddle with the necklace he always wore. “You did too, You can’t help but love him, all of ‘em. But you can’t tell them I told you any of this. It would ruin everything,” he said and pointed a finger at you. You chuckled, and let his words process, you played the first ones over again, ‘you did too,’, he said.
Your grin faltered a bit, his smile dropped when he saw your brows furrow. “What’s wrong (y/n)?” he asked softly and pushed a strand of hair behind your ear. “I raised him well too?” you asked softly, trying not to let your emotions better you. No one had ever said that, but you felt like you were there to guide him, and help him through life in places your mom couldn’t, and knowing that someone saw how much you loved your little brother was amazing to you.
“Of course you did Sweetheart, she couldn’t do it on her own, and you can tell how much he admires you it’s kind of…” he trailed off trying to find the right word, “sweet,” he settled on.
Your smile returned and your tears ended up trailing down your cheeks.
You never knew how much you needed to hear that.
“I love you Eds, I love you so much,” you said and reached up to wrap your arms around his neck. His arms held you tightly one arm across the small of your back and the other hand gently cradled your head to his chest. “I love you too (y/n), so much,” he reciprocated and you pressed a kiss on his shoulder. pulling back just the slightest so you could look at him, you rested your palm on his face while the other claimed its spot on the base of his neck.
“I think this is the part where we’re supposed to kiss,” he said with a playful grin. You chuckled a bit before leaning in and letting your eyes flutter shut. He held you close as his lips met yours. Your lips slotted together perfectly, while his tongue gently traced your bottom lip. You sighed at the feeling and parted your lips to let him explore your mouth and trace your tongue with his. He was nothing but sweet and gentle as he kissed you now.
“Oh, god! Really guys? Could you maybe not do that for all to see!” your brother's voice crowed as he walked up to the car. You pulled away from him with a flushed face and a shy gaze. Eddie chuckled, “I don’t know what you’re talking about Henderson. Was it this?” he asked before gently grasping your chin and bringing his lips back to yours. You smiled into the kiss when you heard Dustin, Mike, and Lucas fake gagging. “Ok, ok stop,” Lucas pleaded. You pulled away and laughed softly as you moved to press a peck on his smile. Untangling yourself from your boyfriend you walked toward your brother and tried to wrap him in a hug and kiss his cheek but he quickly squirmed out of your way. You laughed at his reaction and took off his cap to ruffle his curls. He snatched the hat back before placing it on his head once again.
“Gonna give me cooties,” Dustin grumbled and you let out a loud laugh. Eddie’s heart melts at the sound of your laughter. “Cooties Dustin seriously?” Eddie asked with a raised brow. “They’re real I swear,” Dustin said. “You all have girlfriends, so I guess you already had cooties,” you shrugged while moving to once again stand by your boyfriend. He wrapped his arms around you from behind and rested his chin on your shoulder. “Whatever, you guys are still gross,” Dustin said and you looked over at your boyfriend and gently nuzzled against his cheek with your nose, placing a kiss on the corner of his lips.
“Can we go home, cause honestly, I think I feel sick now,” Mike said and you giggled. “Well Wheeler, guess you better have a vom bag on the ready cause this,” he pointed between the two of you as he turned your head to kiss your lips. You heard the group groan. “Will never stop,” Eddie finished his sentence when he pulled away from you.
They all just looked away before dispersing to get into the car. You chuckled as  Lucas and Mike slid into the backseat and your brother took shotgun. “They’ll get it soon,” you said and looked at them softly. Eddie smiled at you and nodded his head. “But let’s face it no one and I mean no one will ever be as disgustingly cute as we are,”
You chuckled and looked at your boyfriend before stepping out of his grasp. He grinned widely at you, You smiled just the same before leaning in to kiss him goodbye. He pressed a lingering kiss on your forehead.
He opened the car door for you and closed it when you got settled.
“Call when you get home, I’ll see you later Bambie,” he said and winked at you before you pulled out of the school parking lot.
He shook his head as he watched you leave, “Fuck, I love her,” he said and chuckled before making his way to his van to go home. He knew he’d see you that night but he couldn’t help but miss you already.

DON’T YOU WANT ME, BABY? : CHAPTER NINE
“It's just a game. It's a game.”
▸ summary: a struggle emerges in the midst of trying to help stop the mind flayer ▸ characters: steve harrington, dustin henderson, the party + adults ▸ word count: 4.5k       ▸ warnings: angst, jealously, hurt, :) ▸ series masterlist
Tumblr media
Everyone regrouped into the kitchen after the sudden realization. Dustin brought out Will’s books, propping it open on the table with the page on full display. It honestly just looked like some sort of squid-humanoid with number stats at the side. Not really intimidating. But apparently it was the biggest lead the boys had on what you guys could be dealing with.
“The mind flayer.” he addressed around.
Hopper, who finally emerged from Joyce’s room, came over to see what the commotion was. Already there was annoyance evident on his face before he finally spoke. “What the hell is that?”
“It’s a monster from an unknown dimension. It’s so ancient that it doesn’t even know its true home. Okay, it enslaves races of other dimensions by taking over their brains using its highly-developed psionic powers.”
“Oh my God, none of this is real.” groaned Hopper. “This is a kids’ game.”
“No, it’s a manual. And it’s not for kids.” Dustin explained calmly. “And unless you know something that we don’t, this is the best metaphor–”
“Analogy.” Lucas corrected quickly. There’s a second of silence and you visibly wince. Because if anyone hates being correct, it’s definitely your cousin.
“Analogy? That’s what you’re worried about? FINE. An analogy for understanding whatever the hell this is.”
Nancy, ignoring the tension between the two, leaned forward to attempt to understand everything as she looked down at the book. “Okay, so this mind flamer thing–”
 “Flayer. Mind flayer.”
 “What does it want?”
“To conquer us, basically. It believes it’s the master race.”
 “Like the Germans?” Steve asked.
You can’t help but frown at Steve’s question, glancing across from you just in time to see that Nancy is with a mirrored expression. Both of you seemed to wonder where that answer came from. Dustin was quick to correct him. “Uh, the Nazis?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Nazis.” Steve muttered, slightly embarrassed. Unfortunately, the question seemed to throw Dustin off a bit, making Hopper across the room grow more frustrated. You can’t help but feel a little protective over your cousin. Knowing that while tensions are high, he’s only just trying his best here. So, you carefully moved to stand closer behind him.
“Uh, yeah. If the Nazis were from another dimension, totally. Uh, it views other races, like us, as inferior to itself.”
“It wants to spread, take over other dimensions.” Mike added.
But not all members of the party approach this calmly, Lucas can’t seem to help burst out another important factor in all this. “We are talking about the destruction of our world as we know it.” The group shifts a bit, some growing more nervous than the others.
Steve is the first to openly freak out as he stands back from the table. “That’s great. That’s great. That’s really great. Jesus!”
“Come back, Harrington.” you frowned, reaching for his hand to pull him back in. He looked slightly overwhelmed with his lips pursed as you dragged him close again.
“Okay, so if this thing is like a brain that’s controlling everything, then if we kill it..” Nancy said, picking up the book for closer inspection.
“We kill everything it controls.” Mike finished.
 “We win.”
 “Theoretically.”
Hopper joined the girl at her side as he slowly took the book. Trying to read up the page for himself. “Great. So how do you kill this thing? Shoot it with Fireballs or something?” His sarcasm made you roll your eyes. Hating how he doesn’t give any sort of helpful feedback. Unfortunately the tone completely went over Dustin’s head’s and you wished you had reached out to shut him up for a second.
“No. No, no fire–no fireballs.” he chuckled, looking up at the older man. “Uh, you summon an undead army, uh, because..because zombies, you know, they don’t have brains. And the mind flayer, it..it likes brains.”
Hopper began to look over at Dustin incredulously as he attempted to reach back for the book. Moving around, you take your place before him. Doing your best to guard him from Hopper’s disapproving gaze.
 “It’s just a game.” Dustin stammered. “It’s a game..”
“What the hell are we doing here?” cried out Hopper as he slapped the book on the table. A sudden rush of anger filled inside you and before you even realize it, you’re pointing your finger over to the Chief.
“I don’t know about you, Hopper. But some of us have been trying to figure out how to fight against these things all damn day! We even set up a base to lure it in!” you spat, feeling your face turn hot with the attention in the room. “I think things might be a little bit more helpful if you weren’t so damn sarcastic with these kids!”
Your tone caused Hopper to stop in place, turning slowly until his glare was focused on you now. People must have normally been intimidated by his hard gaze and stature, but with how much tension and emotion you’ve been feeling lately. You think you could take on the challenge of this face off.
“You don’t know what the hell we just went through, kid. What we had to do. So quit acting like you do!”
Shaking your head, you let out a sardonic laugh. “I think I’ve got a pretty damn good idea!” you retorted, pointing to the cut on your arm. “But at least I know better than to waste everyone’s time by being a sarcastic assho-” Your words are cut off by the sudden brush of a hand over your mouth.
“You do realize he’s still Chief of police, right?” Steve muttered into your ear. But you’re too upset with him to cool down. Pushing Steve’s hand off from your mouth, you attempt to march over but he’s got a pretty grip at holding you back. But that doesn’t stop you from running your mouth.
“He could be the goddamn president for all I care! That doesn’t give him a right to mock the only people around here trying to help!”
Dustin, who had been staring at you shocked, shook his head. Seeming to gain back his former confidence to join in. “Speaking of help. I thought we were waiting for your military backup!”
 “We are!” barked Hopper.
“Even if they come, how are they gonna stop this?” Mike exclaimed. “You can’t just shoot this with guns!”
“You don’t know that! We don’t know anything!”
“We know it’s already killed everybody in that lab!”
“And we know the monsters are gonna molt again!” Lucas threw in.
“And we know that it’s only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town.” Dustin finished. The boys are at their wits end and you can’t help but feel bad that their worries are being somewhat ignored by the only adult here.
That is until a tired voice joined in from the hall.
 “They’re right.”
Everyone looked over to find Joyce. Her face looked tired with  remnants of tears still etched around her eyes. It has you suddenly feeling guilty for causing such a shouting match in her home while she was trying to grieve. A silver lining was that she seemed to be on the same page as the kids.
“We have to kill it.” she urged. “I want to kill it.”
Hopper approached her slowly. Any hardness in his tone is gone as he carefully attempts to sway her opinion. “Me, too. Me, too, Joyce, okay? But how do we do that? We don’t exactly know what we’re dealing with here.”
 “No. But he does.”
Mike stepped out of the kitchen towards Will. Looking at his friend with a sort of determination. “If anyone knows how to destroy this thing, it’s Will. He’s connected to it. He’ll know its weakness.”
“I thought we couldn’t trust him anymore.” Max recalled. “That he’s a spy for the mind flayer now.”
Mike pondered a second before the idea slowly came to him. “Yeah, but he can’t spy if he doesn’t know where he is.”
Tumblr media
A plan was quickly thought up the moment Mike and Hopper stepped out back. The shed in the backyard was the perfect little box where Will could be concealed from the outside world. All it needed was just a little makeover.
So with that idea, tasks were quickly divided. Most of everyone was paired off. But Hopper, who was still a little miffed with your earlier outburst, happily assigned you to help lug pieces supplies back and forth from the house to the shed. Meanwhile, Steve and Nancy would begin to cover it up.
Something you were completely okay with at first. Until you began to notice just how focused Nancy was to Steve.
It’s not often you’re left feeling jealous. With the confidence you pushed out often enough, you’ve almost come to believe that you didn’t have any reason to be. It allowed you to focus on yourself instead of others and it worked for so long. But this felt different. With some of the events that happened today, this pulled out a whole other reaction. This was an angry green demodog trying to claw its way out of you.
How did you go all these months reacting to them normally? Why was it now, in the most urgent time, that you suddenly feel upset being around them? Even now, they’re only focusing on their work at hand. Barely sharing any words as they worked together.  The guilt of looking at your friend wrong was creeping in on you.
But something about the way she continued to stare at him made your mind funny. Nancy up until now was seemingly over Steve. Especially with the way she looked at Jonathan. So why were her blue eyes focused on the boy beside her?
You’re about to step back into the shed when you hear the sound of Nancy’s voice clear enough since the group had been together in the kitchen.
“What you did, um, helping the kids. That was..really cool.”
“Yeah.” Steve replied coolly. “Those little shits are real trouble, you know?”
“Believe me, I know.” she chuckled.
The tarp in your hand felt heavy and suddenly you’re seeing red. But instead of doing the smart thing, like walking away and cooling off. You don’t. Instead, you step into the shed and catch the way Nancy is staring up at Steve again. Making your impulsiveness come out.
“I’m surprised you’re so aware, Nancy Drew.” you smiled. Feeling the familiar venom build up in your mouth. “Seeing as you ditched everyone for the past two days without so much as a phone call to check in on that brother you were so worried about.”
“Whoa, hey,” Steve started, looking down at you with a worried expression. “You don’t have to go there.”
“Oh? I don’t?” you chuckled lightly. “Because to me it looked like if she really wanted to help keep the kids safe, she’d have been here. Helping us figure out a way to kill the damn thing.” Glancing back at Nancy, you try to ignore the hurt expression on her face in order to keep your mocking one up.
Steve stepped down from the ladder, holding his hand up in front of you as he stepped closer. “C’mon, we both know she was just trying to find some answers..” It nearly made you sick to see him stick up for Nancy. Why was he bothering with that? Shouldn’t he be upset with her? She made him feel guilty over something that wasn’t in either of their hands, and ditched him a day later.
“I’m sorry, did I get hit on the head or something? Or am I the only one who remembers what made you so upset the other night?”
Nancy’s eyes widened and Steve ran a hand nervously through his hair as he continued to mutter your name quietly. “Look, we have work to do. Things can be talked about another time.” He reached back out to take your hand into his, squeezing gently like he did before on the bus. Like he’s trying to help ground you again.
“God,” you scoffed, pulling your hand from his. “You two really are something else.”
Both of them shared a confused look before you dropped all the materials in your hands to the ground. Your fight or flight senses were creeping in and instead of sticking around to make yourself look like an even bigger bitch, you decide it’s best to leave.
“Continue to enjoy the bullshit, Steve.”
Dashing out of the shed, you made your way towards the door to the house when a hand pulled you back. Steve, who came out to follow, was looking down at you with his eyes wide. “Do you want to tell me what the hell that was about?”
“Let me go!” you frowned, slapping his hand. But he didn’t let go, instead, he pulled you closer to him until he could place both hands at your shoulders. Keeping you in place as he leaned in.
“Relax.” He pressed, looking still so concerned with you. “Why are you so upset?”
“Because, Steve!” You said pushing him back a step. “What she did to you wasn’t okay and you’re just talking with her casually? Like nothing happened?”
“She was just thanking me for helping with the kids. We’ve barely spoken all night.”
You can’t really mention how it was mostly the way she stared at him that upset you. And even thinking that made you feel a little foolish. Steve wasn’t yours and you knew that but that didn’t stop your word vomit.
“She’s barely given you the time of day since that party! And up until tonight, she didn’t even bother to know where you were and if you were okay.”
There’s a hurt look across his face and you feel your stomach twist at the idea of making him feel worse. But you can’t just let him be walked over again.
“Look, I’m sorry.” you sighed, pushing your hair away from your face. “I know that..I’m being harsh. I don’t mean to make things worse. But I just don’t want—can’t see you get hurt again.”
He pressed his lips together, huffing out air through his nose while he took your words in. “I don’t see why you even care. I don’t. It’s over with..” He said, sounding a little bit too diffidently. It pulled out your frustrations again.
“Because, Steve.” You said as you moved back a step closer. “Believe it or not but someone actually gives a shit about you for once.”
The words are too honest and you’re scared to even admit that you are that someone. But Steve doesn’t seem to care as he stepped to stand in front of you. Looking downward with such concern it hurts to know he’s checking on you when you’ve just pointed out his shitty situation.
“You shouldn’t care.” Steve said. Voice a little defeated. “We’re not friends..you’ve told me that so many times.”
“I know.” You sighed, hating your past self for saying words that haunted you now. But truthfully, maybe you weren't supposed to be friends. Maybe it was always going to be different with Steve.
Reaching out, you placed your hand down on his chest. Feeling the beat of his heart strongly under the palm of your hand. Something about it draws you in, and before you know it. You’re leaning your head up and pressing your lips against his.
The familiar warmth of his pillowy lips against yours feels warm again and you can’t help but grasp at the collar of his jacket to pull him in and press him even harder against you.
Instead of pushing you away, like you thought Steve might do. He instead raised a hand up to cup the side of your face. Rubbing his thumb gently against your jaw as he kissed you back. The front of his hair tickled against your forehead but you ignored it to revel in the way he felt. It’s almost the same Earth shattering feeling you felt on the day of your doorstep. When you had to push him away.
Only now, you’re silently begging him to pull you in even closer.
When you’re in need of air, you pull back just a bit to allow yourself to avert your gaze. Keeping your eyes focused on his rising chest while you tried to think about how you could explain what you just did. But Steve had other plans, he reached out to grip the tip of your chin, making you look back up to him. Raising a brow in a silent question.
“We’re not friends.” You repeated, patting his chest lightly. “But maybe because I want to be more than that..” Backing up, you watch as his face turns from confused to stunned. There’s nothing else either of you could say and you wish that you had better courage to just say how you feel now. But there wasn’t time, and you give your back to Steve once again as you enter the house.
Tumblr media
Things after that settled a lot more calmly after you worked with the kids. It was easier to just listen to their small chatter while you helped organize anyway. But soon enough everyone found their way back into the shed to finish up the work. You avoided the two pairs of eyes that seemed to be calling you. Focusing on keeping your hands busy until Joyce was eventually moving all the kids back inside the house.
The only ones who would be helping out Will was his family, Hopper, and Mike. Leaving the rest of you patiently waiting again.
From the kitchen window, Dustin seemed to grow more worried, shedding off his hat as he ran a hand through his curly locks. You can’t help but watch him carefully as he made his way to join you in the dining room.
“Hey,” you said softly, reaching out a hand to stop his pacing. The young boy looked at you curiously before relaxing a bit. “Sit down for a second.” you urged, pointing to the chair across from you.
He seemed hesitant for a moment, but sat down anyway, leaning his head into his hands as he looked down on the table. It’s now that you’ve gotten the reminder of how young all these guys are. How despite their tough exterior and harsh words, at the end of the day they’re all just worried over Will. Something they shouldn’t have to be at their age.
“You’ve been working pretty hard today.”
Dustin snapped his gaze up to look at you, giving a half shrug. “Yeah, well, Will’s a member of the party. We can’t just let the mind flayer get him.”
“I’m not just talking about Will.” Licking your lips, you recall all of the things you did with your cousin. “You’ve been helping with just about everything. From Dart, Will, even me.” you smiled, pointing to your arm.
 “Oh,” he said shyly.
“Just want you to know that I think you’ve been pretty damn brave.” Extending your hand out, you give him a small smile.
He slowly reached out and laced his hand with yours, giving a small squeeze before he smiled back. It’s one of the nicer conversations you two have had in days and it’s kind of a relief to have such a normal moment.
“You’ve been pretty cool tonight.” He said softly.
“Oh, just tonight?” you smirked, making him roll his eyes before he went on.
“I mean, you were pretty cool when you told off Hopper. It was kinda awesome.”
You can’t help but grin at that, feeling a small bit of pride swell inside of you at the idea of Dustin thinking of you so positively. Shrugging casually, you leaned over the table to give him a wink. “We’re Hendersons. No one gets to mess with us.”
“Hell yeah,” Dustin chirped, squeezing your hand. “No one.” he confirmed.
You get the feeling of someone watching and turn your gaze past Dustin to the living room. Steve, who was lazily swinging his bat now and stopped his movements to lean against the archway. A small, amused, smile was slowly tugged at his lips.
Before you could say anything about that, the lights all around the house began to flicker. Making all the three of you nearest to the kitchen jump towards the window. This whole thing is a painful reminder about how the monster came out of the wall last year with the same light show.
“C’mon, Will.” you muttered quietly, hopeful for the kid to pull through.
The lights stop flickering but it’s not till a good couple of minutes later that Hopper and the rest of them push through the kitchen doors. He reaches for a pen and paper, and goes over to the table to write something down.
“What happened?” Dustin asked, moving with you to circle around him.
“I think he’s talking,” sighed Hopper. “Just not with words.”
The paper is quickly filled up with what looked like dots and lines. Something you feel like you’ve seen before, but can’t quite place it. Steve is the first one to voice out the question on the tip of your tongue. “What is that?”
The party, always with the most random knowledge, answered back in unison. “Morse code.”
 “H-E-R-E.” read out Hopper.
 “Here.” Everyone replied.
“Will is still in there.” Concluded Hopper, looking around everyone. “He’s talking to us..”
Tumblr media
The group quickly moved around to gather up the next set of supplies. You quickly go through the stack of papers in Will’s room and find a paper and pencil and head to the kitchen table to join the others. Placing the supplies down, you stand behind Dustin and watch as he and his friends use a morse code guide to help translate the message being sent through the walkie from Hopper. Nancy finished the last step with writing down the letters given onto another pad.
It’s not long until the message is finished. All of you moved to look over Nancy as she held the pad in front of everyone.
 CLOSE GATE.
The phone suddenly began to ring. Making all of you jump in place. Dustin rushed over and slammed on the phone repeatedly until it stopped. There’s a breath of relief until it began to ring again. Nancy decided to stop it this time by completely tearing the thing off the wall.
“Do you think he heard that?” Max asked.
You can’t help but be skeptical at the idea of someone not recognizing the sound of their house phone. But maybe with Will being all the way out to the shed, there was a chance he didn’t hear it.
“It’s just a phone.” Steve pointed out. “It could be anywhere. Right?”
All of you are given an answer when a loud screeching echoed in from the distance. You all take a step towards the living room window. A familiar chill comes up your back again as you look down to your arm.
“That’s not good.” Dustin said softly.
Immediately the others come inside the house, moving to hide an unconscious Will in his room while the kids all keep watch at the window. You run through Jonathan’s room in hopes to find something to arm yourself with.
“Hey, come on, we need you out here.” Steve said, coming inside to get you.
“I-I can’t. I don’t have anything to fight with.” you panicked, trying to find anything to use as a blunt object. “Why the hell did Jonathan take up photography? I need a weapon not a goddamn film strip!”
Steve doesn’t let you linger as he takes your hand to drag you back towards the others. “Just watch the kids, I got you.” he said urgently, pushing you to stand behind him with Dustin. The others are all gathering around, letting Hopper, Steve, Nancy, and even Mike take the front lines.
Lucas is doing his best to watch the side by covering Max with his slingshot. Jonathan is being held tightly by Joyce and Dustin is reached out to hold your hand again. You leaned forward and tugged down at Steve’s sleeve until he looked back at you.
 “Be careful.” you warned.
He nodded his head quickly, holding back a smile before he returned his focus to the windows. The sounds of the screeching grew louder the more seconds went by. A part of you is worried about how many might have heard the distress signal. At the bus there had to be at least half a dozen. But what if there was more by now? How many had been growing this whole time?
“Where are they?” called out Max, reaching out to hold your other hand. The slight panic in her tone has you reaching your arms out to help push the kids behind you. Lucas stubbornly stayed at your side, keeping his shot in place.
There’s a loud gargled roar to the right and everyone turned together to face that direction. There’s a thud against the wall of the house and you tried to think about what kind of tactics the demodogs could be using this time.
“What are they doing? Nancy asked, keeping her gun high.
“They’re scaling the house for another ambush.” you gritted, feeling your heartbeat in your throat.
The noises by now are moving all around the house, giving no one a clear spot of where to ready their aim. It’s horribly daunting and you really wish you grip tightly to those around you as the noises seem to grow louder.
There’s a sudden whimpering sound, making all of you hold your breath.
“What the hell was that?” you hissed, just before the body of a demodog came crashing through the windows. All of you let out a guttural scream before staggering back together. There isn’t any movement for a moment, all the weapons are aimed at the dog on the floor.
You peer over the kids, looking at the creature, waiting for it to suddenly turn around and open its face open at the group. But it doesn’t. It’s still on the floor, unmoving, with no visible signs of life left in it.
“Holy shit.” Dustin muttered. Letting you go to take a look for himself. In fact, all of you move in closer. Taking small steps behind Hopper.
 “Is it dead?” Max asked.
Hopper kept his shot on him while he used his boot to tap against the head. It’s gross but the body simply sagged back down. It was most definitely dead. But there were no signs of bullet shots, stab wounds, or even bite marks from a possible animal. So what the hell killed it?
A creaking noise came from the front door, and all the attention was faced that way. As if moving on its own, the locks began to twist and turn on the door. Everyone’s guard returns back up and you brace for whatever is about to step foot inside.
She entered inside slowly, taking a careful step in before her face became clear in the light.
“Holy shit.” you gasped because standing by the doorway was none other than El. Back from the dead.

"If you had to pick a boy from school to date... who would you pick?" Blossom asked, not sure if she'd wanna know the answer. She was lying on her stomach, flipping through a magazine in Robin's bedroom where they held one of many slumber parties.
"Uh..." Robin hesitated, not knowing what to say. She was so tired of lying to her best friend about her feelings, but what was she supposed to say? That she was in love with her?
"I don't think I'd pick anyone. They're all either ugly or boring, the only nice and sorta good-looking one is Dustin but he's too young for me," Blossom murmured. Truth was she never liked a girl before, but when Robin was there she felt... something different.
"Yeah, me either. They're all too... immature," she exclaimed, glad that Blossom had answered the way she had, not only to find out she didn't like anyone else, but so she could latch onto her answer as well.
Blossom sat up to face Robin with a little smirk. "But have you ever dated anyone?" The question definitely had ulterior motives, she desperately wanted to know if her friend liked someone and if so, what her type was.
"Not... exactly. Okay, no, I haven't," Robin exclaimed, making a face. "Have you?" She wondered reluctantly.
"I've dated one guy but it didn't last too long..." Blossom murmured. "It was just a little weird with him, you know? Like that's not how it's meant to be."
“Oh?” Robin asked, perking up before quickly clearing her throat. “I mean, why was it weird?” She asked, crossing her legs under her.
"He didn't treat me like I wanted to be treated, I felt attracted to him, but... it's like boys have a few nice bits and are attached to the rest, which is trash."
Robin couldn’t help but laugh. “I won’t disagree with you there,” she snorted.
"But um... does that mean you never kissed a boy before?" Blossom asked, feeling a little flutter in her stomach, even though she didn't fully understand it.
“I’ve… never kissed anyone,” she admitted, her face flaring brightly and suddenly feeling very hot, her palms starting to sweat.
A little gasp left Blossom's lips when she noticed how flushed (and absolutely adorable) her friend was.
"That's okay, everyone has their moment, nothing wrong with that," she assured. "But I don't get it. You're so beautiful, you're like... waking up in the morning and seeing the most wonderful day out the window. Your smile is like the sun, your freckles are so cute, and your eyes are gorgeous! Who wouldn't wanna kiss you?"
“I—“ Robin’s voice faltered and she only felt more flustered. “I’m none of those things!” She exclaimed, bleating an awkward laugh.
"You are though, you're also intelligent and funny and kind. You're like the whole package, anyone who doesn't ask you out is stupid."
Oh my God, it's me... I'm stupid, was all Blossom could think.
“You’re biased cause you’re my friend,” Robin argued, trying to calm her racing heart. Why did it feel like her friend meant all those things she’d said… in more than a friendly way?
"If you were ugly and uninteresting, I could've just kept my mouth shut so I wouldn't hurt your feelings," Blossom pointed out. "I'm not the most experienced kisser ever, but I mean... I know a few things if you ever want tips."
"Oh, uh, what kind of tips?" Robin asked, intrigued, but a little nervous.
"I don't know, like what to do with your tongue and your hands... stuff I wish I knew before," Blossom shrugged.
"Okay, I guess I could use all the help I can get, though I really doubt I'll be kissing anyone soon..." she mumbled.
"You never know. I'd tell you to let the other person take the lead. Your tongue shouldn't be too present, but also not stiff. Try to caress the neck or the hair with your hands so it adds to the sensation."
"Wait, how do you mean, your tongue shouldn't be stiff?" Robin chuckled, a little confused by her explanation.
"If can't be stiff, like hard. It needs to be relaxed, but not relaxed like a thirsty dog just... soft."
"I think I get what you mean, but it's hard to really understand without doing it, I guess," Robin mumbled, looking down at her legs when she realized how that sounded -- like she wanted Blossom to show her.
"Why don't you try it? I can show you... just for practice," the other girl suggested, trying to sound extra casual, as if she wouldn't jump at the first chance to kiss her best friend.
Robin's face flared bright red. "Wait, what?" she exclaimed, swallowing thickly, hastily trying to work moisture back into her mouth.
"Sorry, that was a stupid idea. I'm so sorry, I just thought... it would be easier to show you with practice," Blossom had to resist the urge to hide under a pillow, she felt like such a creep.
"N-no! No, it's okay! It just took me by surprise is all," Robin exclaimed quickly, not wanting her friend to feel bad. However, she also didn't want her to know how eager she was to kiss her. "We can do that," she said, having to take a steadying breath.
"You don't have to if you think it would be gross or something," Blossom murmured, moving closer to her and taking her hand.
"I don't think it would be gross," Robin assured her, a little too insistently. "So... how do we...?" She murmured, barely able to breathe as they shifted closer.
"Just relax and give it a try like this," Blossom whispered slowly approaching her until their lips touched softly. The kiss was slow and delicate, almost as if they moved in slow motion.
Robin didn't think her face could get any hotter, she nearly felt as if she were about to faint. Blossom's lips were softer than she could imagine, and she had imagined.
Slowly, Blossom parted her lips and her tongue found Robin's. She didn't mind her inexperience, it didn't take away from the moment and how amazing it felt. That was definitely what a kiss was meant to feel like.
“Oh—“ Robin gasped as her friend's tongue brushed softly against hers, but she didn’t pull away, her hands balling in the blanket beneath her, fighting the urge to kiss her deeper and make a fool of herself by shoving her tongue down her throat.
"That was pretty good," Blossom finally pulled away, looking quite red in the face. "But you can use more of your tongue, that was a little shy. Let's try one more time."
“I was just afraid of-of using too much,” Robin replied shakily, wetting her lips before leaning back in.
"It's okay, if it's too much, I'll let you know," Blossom murmured, burying her fingers into the other girl's hair. This kiss felt more passionate, more heated. Even though it was just for practice... of course.
Robin's breath hitched as she leaned into the kiss, feeling a little more confident this time, her hands grasping at the other girl's waist, losing herself for a moment in the kiss.
And just like that, nothing else mattered, it felt like they were meant to be, two princesses in a romance novel. Nothing had ever felt more right. "Yeah, I think you got it," Blossom breathed. "That was perfect."
"Oh, right," Robin breathed, coming back to her senses as they parted, remembering that this was just practice and that it wasn't supposed to mean anything. "You really think so?" she asked, trying to steady her voice, not wanting her friend to catch the hint of disappointment behind her words.
"I do, I think anyone would be very lucky to kiss you," Blossom said, fighting tears as she realized Robin would probably never want to kiss her again. Maybe she should've lied and said it wasn't good enough... just to get a few more practice runs.
"Wait, B, are you okay?" Robin exclaimed, noticing the tears caught in her lashes. "What's wrong?" She asked, her chest suddenly tight with worry, afraid she'd upset her.
"I'm fine, really, I'm okay," Blossom nodded, wiping her eyes quickly and looking the other way. "I'm sorry, I don't know what got into me. So silly."
"Hey, you're not silly," Robin insisted, gently turning the other girl's face back to her and instinctively reaching out to brush the tears from her cheek. "Please tell me?" She whispered.
"I can't," she murmured, more tears rolling down her cheeks. "If I tell you, you might never wanna see me again or be my friend and I can't do that."
"Nothing you could tell me would make me not wanna be your friend anymore," Robin assured her, nearly choking on her words, her hands still cupping her friend's face. "Even if you killed someone. I'd help you hide the body," she joked though her voice wavered.
"I never felt like this before," Blossom started, taking a deep breath to gather the courage to admit what had been in her mind for months. "But when I'm with you it's like the rest of the world doesn't matter and everything is perfect. You fix what I never knew was broken... I like you."
Robin blinked. She suddenly felt like she'd been dunked in an ice bath. She had to be dreaming. All the times she'd imagined Blossom saying those words, she'd never really thought it would happen.
"You... do?" She breathed, almost afraid to speak, afraid if she did the bubble would pop and the dream would end.
"I do, I think you're the coolest, most amazing, prettiest girl in the world. Not an army of Daryl Hannahs and Sissy Spaceks could change my mind. Your laugh and your voice are the first things I wanna hear in the morning and the last I wanna hear before bed."
Robin's eyes fluttered, a tear rolling down her cheek and when she opened her mouth to speak a sob came out instead. "I like you too, Blossom," she finally whispered, her voice cracking. "I've liked you for so long, but I was afraid--"
"I was afraid! I thought you liked that boy from Canada you told me about. I didn't know exactly what was going on, I've liked boys before, but I like you. I don't know if that means I'm a lesbian... a half lesbian? Is there such thing as a half lesbian?"
"I only made him up because I didn't want you to think I was pathetic. This whole time, I only liked you," Robin exclaimed, letting out a wet laugh. "I think that means you're bisexual," she said, pressing an overjoyed kiss to Blossom's mouth, kissing her urgently.
The other girl, in turn, kissed her back with the same enthusiasm, almost getting on top of her as she caressed the back of her neck and her dirty blonde hair.
"You could never be pathetic, you're like... like a gorgeous mermaid goddess that I can't get enough of," she giggled.
Robin let out a full-bodied laugh. "You're the gorgeous mermaid goddess!" she exclaimed, kissing all over Blossom's face giddily. "Fuck, I can't believe this is really happening!" she cried, holding tightly to the other girl.
"Me neither, you're like a dream," Blossom leaned against her shoulder. "I wanna keep you all to myself and never share with anyone ever again."
"I'm okay with that," Robin laughed. "Does that mean... we're girlfriends?" she wondered, falling to the bed with the other girl in her arms.
"I think it does... we're girlfriends!" Blossom shrieked in excitement. "You're all mine now! This is perfect."
Robin couldn't stop the giddy laughter that filled her chest and she pressed her forehead to her girlfriend's, her cheeks hurting from how much she was smiling. "You know... I think I might need some more practice at this kissing thing. Think you could help me some more?" She teased, tracing the line of Blossom's jaw with her finger.
"What sort of teacher would I be if I refused?" She winked, pulling her closer again.

more than words could ever describe | e.m
pairing: Eddie Munson x reader
warnings: none, just basically pure angst :)
w/c: 1.3k
summary: you and Eddie promised each other that you would only go down together, but Eddie Munson was never really the type to keep a promise.
masterlist <3 // my ko-fi to support me <3
"Eddie my love, can you come here real quick?" you yelled from Eddie's bedroom while you took a seat on his old but not so uncomfortable bed.
You would totally lie when you would say that your not a bit nervous to tell him what you are about to tell him. You honestly don't even know why because it's not like your gonna tell him that you cheated on him or that you are pregnant or some bullshit like that but your still pretty nervous about the following conversation your gonna have with your boyfriend.
"Coming sweetheart!" he told you in a singing kind of voice as he jogged into his bedroom while you laughed quietly at his childish behavior.
He's really such a child sometimes.
"What's the matter princess?" he asked with a tiny smile painted on his gorgeous face as he sat himself cross legged down infront of your body. "Everything okay?" he asked you with concern written on his face. Brows furrowed and the smile suddenly vanishing from his lips.
"Yeah it's just... about tomorrow" you told him with a small sigh. He sighed too and grabbed you chin gently with his fingertips. "Look at me sweetheart, please" you looked into his eyes before he went on.
"I understand that you are worried about tomorrow, but everthing is gonna work out, okay? We've gone through the plan like a hundred times today, right? It's gonna work out. You, Nancy, Steve, dustin and everyone else will leave the upside down alive tomorrow, okay? Maybe with a couple of scratches or something like that but alive, you understand me?" he explained to you with a soothing and gentle voice.
"Yeah, your right eds, can you promise me something?" you looked into his eyes with seriousness this time.
"Depends on what it is my love" he answered with his typical sweet laugh but it stopped as soon as he saw your serious gaze. "Y-yeah, of course, what should I promise you y/n baby?"
You took a deep breath and closed your eyes for a quick second before you told him the reason why you really wanted to talk to him tonight. "Promise me that we make it out alive" you said as tears slowly started to build up in your eyes.
"Hey, hey, hey, yes, of course sweetheart, I will do everything I can to protect you from vecna and the bats-"
"No, no Eddie, we. Not me, not you, we Eddie. Together, not separately. You make it out alive, I make it out alive. There will be no 'I will protect you even if it means that I'll have to sacrifice myself then' shit, okay?"
He nodded along as you talked with him about tomorrow's mission.
"You won't die in my arms, I won't die in your arms, you understand me?, either we both make it out alive or we go down together, alright?" you said as tears made their way down to your cheeks. "I promise sweetheart, I promise" he whisperd as you went in for a tight hug. He gently kissed the top of your head before you two decided to call it a night and get enough sleep for tomorrow's chaos.
---
"Since when does vecna got so many fucking bat's?" you questioned yourself as you and Eddie flighted in his trailer in the upside down all those ugly but quite dangerous animal-monsters. "I swear he ordered new ones or some shit" Your boyfriend yelled back as he hit another bat that was coming at you pretty good on the head.
"Thank you my love" you looked at him with a tiny smile for one second before you turned around and started yelling at them animals to back off again. "No problem princess" he laughed to himself before he finally got the idea to cover the hole those bat's were coming from up with his shield that he build proudly all by himself.
"Perfect, are there any other holes these bat's could fly out from?" you asked him quickly before you both realized it at the same time.
"THE BEDROOM" the two of you stormed out of the living room, into Eddie's bedroom that the two of you share for several months already. "Fucking shit-" you mumbled right as a flok of them jumped out of a hole in the corner of the bedroom. "C'mon Eddie, let's go!" you yelled loudly as you grabbed his pointer and middle finger tightly around your tiny hand and ran towards the big hole where you escape the upside down.
"And up you go sweetheart" he said as he lifted you up and helped you crawl your way up into the 'normal' Hawkins. "Oww!" you said as you landed on the pretty hard mattress. "Now your turn eds!" you yelled up where he was already making his way towards you.
But suddenly he stopped mid-way and looked deep in your eyes like it was the first time seeing you.
Like it was his first time noticing how deeply blue your eyes actually are.
How many freckles you actually have on your soft face.
How tiny and sweet your nose actually was.
How your lips have the literally best and most beautiful shape.
How perfect your slightly pink cheeks look.
How perfect you look.
He was looking at you like he knew that it would be his last time looking at you.
And then it hit you.
"Eddie, n-no, you crawl up that thing right now, c'mon" you whisperd sternly. You knew his fucked up plan, but you for sure wouldn't make him actually get though it.
"I love you more than words could ever describe" he whisperd with a very tiny but also very visible smile on his lips.
"No!" you yelled as tears burned in your eyes. Eddie jumped away, down on the floor and ran away.
He ran, and ran, and ran until he stopped right in his tracks and realized that that's exactly that what he shouldn't be doing.
running away.
He turned around to face the bat's that were making their way to him and made the decision of his life.
Do. not. run. away. this time.
So he fighted.
"Fucking stupid man, I swear-" you said as you landed on your back after crawling your way back into the upside down to save your boyfriend from getting himself killed.
"Please don't let it be too late, please don't let it be-"
And then you saw your other half. Laying on the dirty floor, alone, covered on his own blood from head to toe.
"No-" you whisperd to yourself quietly as your vision got more and more blurry through the tears. "Please no-" you begged somebody, anybody to come and help you.
"Eddie! Eddie, I'm here, I-I'm here baby, I'm here for you" you whimpered as you kneed down next to his drained out and cold body. "Hey, hey my love, can you hear me?" you asked him quietly as you moved a strand of hair that was sticking onto his face. He nodded quickly before he spoke up.
"Y-yes, I can hear you s-sweetheart" he smiled softly at you. "Why didn't you just listen and crawled up that damn thing eds" you asked while tears ran down your cold cheeks as you looked at your lovers head laying comfortably in your lap. He shook his head with a tired facial expression written on his bloody face as he answered your question. "I couldn't run a-away another time my l-love, I c-couldn't" he said with a sad smile. "But this t-time you should have ran away Eddie, this time y-you should h-have" you slowly grew slightly angry, but you couldn't be upset with him right now, not now. "What about o-our promise eds, your promise! That you made me! What a-about that, huh!" you started to sob unstoppably.
"Remember how I once told you that I think that rules were only made to be broken? Well, I guess it's the same with promises"
"I-I don't believe that, you hear me? I d-don't believe that" you told him as you wiped some tears off of your face.
"maybe you should" he whisperd with a tiny smile.
You couldn't even answer him anymore, you just broke down and cried as he suddenly grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers.
"Please never forget one thing my love, people will always make promises they can't keep, because if they know that they would keep it in the end, they wouldn't feel the urge to even make it a promise" he told you quietly as he searched the eye contact under the tears that formed in his eyes. "So you knew it along? You knew that you would do this?"
"Why do you think was I so tired this morning" he asked you as your furrowed your brows in confusion. "What do you mean eds?"
"Do you seriously think I slept last night?" he laughed a bit. "If you weren't able to fall asleep, why didn't you wake me up and tell me then-"
"No, no, no sweetheart, I didn't fall asleep last night because I wasn't able to, I didn't fall asleep last night because I wanted to look at my beautiful girlfriend one last time before my life goes downhill, I wanted to stare into your gorgeous eyes but I obviously couldn't do that because, well, your eyes were closed" he exclaimed with a genuine laugh this time.
"But I thought about us. About the first time we've met, about our first date, our first kiss, our first time, our first 'I love you', our first time holding hands in school, I just thought about us and to be honest, I think I couldn't have though about something better than this all night long" he told you quietly as he starred into your blurry pupils.
"I love you so much Eddie, so much my love" you whisperd as you slowly noticed how his breathing went by slower and his eyes started to close.
"I love you more than words could ever describe" he whisperd one last time before he closed his eyes gently.
You laid your body down next to his as you carefully took his head and placed in the crook of your neck and kissed his forehead lightly.
"more than words could ever describe" you whisperd to yourself as you drifted off into the most painful sleep you could ever imagine.
---
You were very surprised when you woke up in your boyfriends bed in his old trailer that he shared with his uncle.
That was the next issue... How the hell are you explain all of this to wanye.
After drying your wet cheeks at least a little bit, you stood up and stretched your body before you wanted to leave the room.
Yes, you heard me right, wanted.
You didn't realized that the tiny (and only shelf) he got in his room was right next to his bed and unintentionally kicked the textbook where he kept all his self written songs in quickly of the shelf.
"Oh damn it" you picked it up but as you held it in your hand and read the first song title you felt like you couldn't move.
- indescribable love story -
You knew that Eddie usually only liked music from Metallica or Iron maiden, so to see that he written a song that was full of love and carried such a beautiful and soft title was very new to you.
You started to cry all over again. You thought that wouldn't have any tears left anymore but you did and your body literally is currently proving you it. You started to sob as your knees gave in and you crashed to the floor with the most precious piece of paper in between your fingertips.
"I also love you more than words could describe" you whisperd as tear drops hit Eddie's probably most beautiful written song in your shaky hands.
