Hi, everyone! This will be my first post on the blog, and I will be posting books that I recently got on. This will be part of the haul, as I got a lot of books.
Red
The first series I got is called Red by Hiromi Kobayashi, and it's an interesting series! It's a drama josei, and here is the plot according to AniList:
"Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in Bend, Mississippi, Becky Lynn Lee doesn't have the luxury of dreaming. With an abusive father and a broken mother, she always thought that this was it. But after the ultimate betrayal, Becky Lynn can no longer live the nightmare. Determined never to go back, Becky Lynn escapes to Hollywood. As a photographer's assistant, she discovers a talent for spotting beauty and capturing the perfect shot. When the camera eventually turns on her, the awkward, shy Becky Lynn of her childhood disappears. But when the success she's achieved is threatened, Becky Lynn must find the strength to embrace her new identity and put the ugliness of her past behind her forever. Based on Erica Spindler's novel "RED."
*Note that this series isn't exactly vintage, at least to me. It was published in 1999. So, this is not really part 1, but it's still part of the haul.
My Thoughts
I'm super excited to get into this series because it seems so problematic and dramatic, that I honestly can't wait to read it! Unfortunately, I can't read Japanese yet, but I will be making progress soon... Or I might just scan them and translate them myself.
*These images were scanned by me and are from my personal collection.
This book was bought from a shop on TikTok (Bookstruly.ph) for just 85 pesos. It was my first time reading a thriller book. a high body count of murder and solving cases. Not gonna lie, I enjoyed reading it. Though I predict what will happen in the end, I love the character of Kitt; she's very smart compared to her partner, M.C., who is a little dumb here.

Stacking the Shelves is a meme co-hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene at Reading Reality, where you share the books you’ve added to your shelves in the past week. You can include books you buy, books you borrow, review books, gifts, and ebooks.
Last week’s restraint of adding only a single ARC and one purchased book feels like a miracle after this week. This time around, I managed to add eleven books. (Yikes! I better slow down or I’m going to have a huge TBR for 2020.) The genres consisted of romantic suspense, historical fiction (of course), thrillers (including a supernatural thriller), chick lit, dystopia, and history.
I seem to be falling into a pattern of adding World War II books. Three of the novels are set during or just after the war, and the nonfiction history book I added is about a group of people sent to Auschwitz. I previously added other books set in this time period (some are focused on the Holocaust, others are not). I wonder how many book set during the World War II era I’ll read this year?
In other exciting news, I was granted auto-approval status for Kensington Books on Netgalley! I was absolutely thrilled when I received the notification, because I’d been working (and hoping) for this for four years. Even sweeter, they approved one final request of mine before granting the auto-approval, a book I thought I’d missed out on—The Moonshiner’s Daughter by Donna Everhart. That was definitely a happy day for this book blogger!
And now, on to the books! (Links for each book will be posted below, as always.)
Hideaway by Nora Roberts
Paris Never Leaves You by Ellen Feldman
The New Husband by D.J. Palmer
The Look-Alike by Erica Spindler
The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner
Been There, Married That by Gigi Levangie
