BIA and Timbaland — "I'M THAT BITCH" Although drill isn’t BIA’s main mode, she sounds great over this sleek, sinewy drill beat, proving just how far she can expand her aesthetic horizons without losing a sense of her identity.Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro — "BESO" Aside from the very splashy real-life metanarrative of this song – Rauw and Rosalía announced their engagement in the song’s video – this is a gorgeously romantic opener to the pair’s sublime new joint EP RR.Shygirl and Björk — "Woe (I See It From Your Side)" Björk totally makes this Shygirl track her own, retaining the song’s breathy, industrial atmosphere while ratcheting up the song’s tension and alienesque cast. Related | Shygirl Discovers Her Ultimate Fantasy on 'Nymph'Mega Bog — "Love Is" Mega Bog, aka Erin Birgy, gets an assist from Westerman on this vast, skyward-looking synth-pop track, a song that places the inquisitive, wide-eyed Birgy firmly at the center of the dance floor. Brozone Random Headcannons

So I've seen the Trolls Band Together 3 times and counting and it was so good! So to get back in the groove, and after having some kind words come my way from multiple people, I really appreciate you guys! I'm gonna try a new writing style. Now remember, these are simply my opinions :)

SPOILERS AHEAD!

John Dory:

*Okay, so it is canon that Branch is 24 in the Trolls 3, which makes John Dory about 44.

*Nickname(s): JD, John

Fav color: Aquamarine and Green

Pronouns: He/Him (He supports, but is comfortable as himself)

He also gives me aromantic vibes, because like throughout the movie, he was really nonchalant when the romance bits came up, however subtle they are, he didn't give a damn lol.

JD is giving big Aries vibe with how confident he can be, pretty cheerful, and gets frustrated by tiny details, and unnecessary interruptions.

Bruce:

Bruce is the second oldest at 40

BIG Scorpio vibes!! He's strong (Y'all, have y'all seen how easily he lifted Branch when they first met) and hella independent. He was the first to question John Dory before their show, he was even hesitant to leave Vaycay Island before he sang with his brothers.

Nickname(s): Brucie, I feel like Brandy calls him that to mess with him or when she wants something. His brothers' (mostly John Dory and Clay), call him that to make fun of him as well.

Fav Color: White

DO NOT TOUCH THIS MAN'S HAIR!!!!! He will sic his kids on you and show no mercy.

Pronouns: He/Him (He's a huge ally, but he's also proud of himself.)

He loves experimenting and competing in the kitchen with Brandi, forces his brothers to try their food, and chooses whose food is going on the specials board.

Clay:

Clay is giving major middle-sibling vibes: at 35 years old.

Pronouns: He/They

Clay is non-binary and wears androgynous clothing but prefers their sweater romper and wristbands.

Nickname(s): Claybo (Viva calls him this to playfully annoy him), Clayton (Bruce and JD called him that as a kid, usually copying their mothers and grandma when they would scold him; but now call him that when he's overworked himself and they have to physically drag him to bed to rest.

Fav color: Green it was pretty obvious in the movie bc originally it was yellow when we first met him as a teen, but then we meet him later and it's green, and their whole outfit is green.

Def a Gemini! They're such a playful Troll, despite how serious he may act. But as he stated before, put some respect on his name bc they're a licensed CPA, fool!

Clay's favorite snack combo is:

Fries and a vanilla milkshake! He loves dipping the salty fries in the sweet vanilla.

They talk in their sleep, mostly about tax evasion and hot chocolate?

Hates doing their hair, Viva has to wait until he's sleeping for her to brush his tangles out.

Floyd:

Floyd is the second youngest at 32

He's such a Pisces! He's so empathetic, compassionate, and oh, so sensitive.

Pronouns: He/Him

He and Clay definitely go all out for Pride (Bc Trolls are literally all spectrums of the rainbow! We learned that in Trolls 2! It'd be impossible NOT to have a big party for Pride), and drag their brothers and are literally so hype at the whole event and crashes MEGA hard the next morning and sleeps for a good 12 hours.

Floyd remained friends with Veneer because, c'mon they were vibing. He could see Veneer wanted someone to see him, so he convinced the Mount Rageous police to let the twins out for Pride.

Had a long talk with Velvet and helped her to see the error of her ways, and she began to be nicer to Veneer and listen to him.

Fav color is Black. He knows he slays the Rock Troll look.

I'm gonna settle this once and for all: Floyd is gay. The one earring in his right ear is a shout-out to his voice actor who is an openly gay singer.

Nickname(s): Flo (I feel like Branch couldn't pronounce Floyd's name yet when he was just learning to talk, so he called him Flo and it stuck.) Floydie (when his brothers tease him about his crush that he refuses to name.)

The hair in his face is like a comfort thing for him. He knows his hair is soft, and when he's bored, he plays with it, and twirls it around his fingers.

Floyd definitely has a collection of journals, from his songwriting to venting his feelings, and even (poorly drawn) doodles of his family.

Branch:

He is the youngest at 24 as stated earlier.

Pronouns: He/Him

Fav color: Midnight blue like his hair

This dude is hella smart; like has a super high IQ, but is super chill about it.

He and Poppy are that meme: Tired X Energetic on a level 10!

Nickname: Branchifer (Poppy calls him that when she's calling him out on his attitude or when she's about to start teasing him.)

Def an Aquarius: highly intellectual, creative, and likes to join in on social interactions when it's on his time. Poppy learned the hard way why she shouldn't force him to join in.

Similar to Floyd, he was a bunch of notebooks filled with songs he'd written.

Branch is shy when it comes to family PDA, like if his brothers were to group hug him, or if they tried to mother him, and gets especially prickly when they baby-talk him in front of others.

This dude is the prince of sarcasm, clearly picking that trait up from all his brothers. Like bro, why are you so sarcastic?!

Is undeniably the most sarcastic of the brothers. (His nieces and nephews start to pick up on that, much to Bruce's horror. Brandi thinks it's hilarious.)

Doesn't really like kids, but absolutely adores his nephew Bruce Jr ( I mean he loves them all, but has a soft spot for that boy.) Bruce Jr is autistic and nonverbal and struggles to communicate. I believe he uses TSL (Troll Sign Language), and when Branch learns this, he starts signing fluently with his nephew, surprising everyone, especially Bruce Jr, because not many people can sign so fluently, but then Branch explains, that he learned when he was younger because you could go deaf at any moment and it's such a useful skill.

Bruce Jr shows Branch his blueprints that he's made and honestly, if they wanted to, they could take over the world.

20th Anniversary

Namie Amuro: Style (2003.12.10)

There are at least four distinct eras in Namie Amuro's career: 1) her initial debut with the idol-ish super eurobeat/dance group SUPER MONKEY'S (which spawned the group MAX) from 1992 to 1995, 2) her major debut as a solo artist with Avex Trax in 1995, kicked off by the single "Body Feels EXIT," through to the height of her popularity as a leading figure in the J-pop industry alongside producer Tetsuya Komuro until her abrupt hiatus in 1997, 3) the awkward, not-very-well-received comeback and transition to post-TK R&B, which saw the lowest sales numbers of her career, and lasted roughly until the release of Queen of Hip-Pop in 2005, and 4) her meteoric rebound, transition back to dance-pop, and the cementing of her status as a legend, until the abrupt announcement of her retirement in 2017. There are a lot of mini-moments within these eras, and many parts overlap so that it's not exactly seamless, but that's the gist of it.

While Namie's comeback was one of the rarest in music history, the factors that led to the initial nadir are just as interesting and numerous. For one, she had squandered the goodwill of the public by engaging in activity that was frowned upon in Japan at the time: she hooked up with a backup dancer, got pregnant, got married, got tattoos, and got divorced, all within the space of a couple of years. On top of it, Namie's success was tied to that of her producer, the mega-popular and prolific Tetsuya Komuro, who was basically running a personal empire in the 1990s. While Namie's popularity and success was never due solely to the music he was writing for her, it was an enormous contributing factor to her sales numbers. TK's brand of pop was the defining style of the 90s, with no one better able to pry open wallets in what was the CD format's most lucrative era. But just as quickly and completely as he ruled hearts and charts, his music fell out of style, also as a result of several factors (mostly the rise of singer-songwriters and R&B/hip-hop in the mainstream, and personal issues involving everything from tax evasion, to drug rumors and a wild romantic life). Namie teaming up with him again for her immediate comeback never stood a chance against so much drama. So major changes were made when Namie ditched the Komuro baggage, taking the plunge with new support -- Dallas Austin, m-flo, ZEEBRA, even Teddy Riley -- into the world of R&B and hip-hop.

This brave step didn't immediately produce amazing results: if anything, Namie's early forays proved lackluster and indecisive on albums like GENIUS 2000. It wasn't until 2003's STYLE that she finally and fully committed to the change. Gone were the days of chasing the chance and dreaming that she was dreaming, Namie was now putting up her dukes, wishing on the same star, and shining more. The songs on the album were all heavily influenced by contemporary Western trends of the time, especially Black hip-hop, fashion, and culture. The early 00s was still the era of P. Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Nelly, Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott, and in some ways, STYLE samples sounds from all of these artists in different ways, with the inclusion of a few softer songs, such as "Four Seasons," "As Good As," and "Come," which were deliberately added for variety. But for the most part, the album is built on beats, bars, and rhymes. This was still a fairly new thing to see in the Japanese mainstream, and certainly by an Avex Trax artist -- for comparison, Ayumi Hamasaki had just released her rock opus I am..., while RAINBOW merely dipped a toe into R&B on a song like "Real me," Ai Otsuka was less than a year out from releasing LOVE PUNCH, Hikaru Utada was actually going softer and more art-pop with Deep River, and both BoA and Kumi Koda had just debuted in Japan with LISTEN TO MY HEART and affection respectively, which stayed squarely on the softer R&B/pop side of the fence. Only Crystal Kay, HEARTSDALES, and maybe DOUBLE were a step ahead of Namie, but I would argue that STYLE and Namie's involvement in projects like SUITE CHIC really let the sound transition into the broader and bigger Oricon mainstream, prompting a rash of copycat records.

Even so, STYLE did poorly. It still hit #1 in its first week, but it stands as Namie's least popular record with the fewest sales numbers to this day. It does, however, have something of a cult following by fans who now look back at the early 00s with nostalgia. Personally, I didn't like this album when I first heard it -- its lack of pop and dance music, which I was used to hearing from Namie, coupled with what seemed like a desperate bid for relevancy in a genre that I wasn't particularly interested in at the time, turned me off from spending much time with it. Nowadays, I dislike this album less -- there are songs on here that I actually really like. My only real caveat is that the album is split too abruptly at the halfway point between the bangers and the non-hip-hop tracks. In hindsight, STYLE is clearly Namie still getting comfortable in this milieu, and it's especially obvious next to albums like Queen of Hip-Pop and PLAY that were more successful at capturing something both influenced by hip-hop and unique to what only Namie could bring.

This CD album comes in a standard jewel case with an OBI and a booklet that features additional photos and lyrics. First press editions featured two exclusive bonus tracks: a remix of "SO CRAZY," and an alternate version of "Wishing on the Same Star." For me, this album is more interesting for what lead to it, what it lead to, and what it said about the state of Namie Amuro and J-pop at the time. It's not great, but it's not nearly as bad as I remember it being. Avex Trax, of course, would politely disagree, largely ignoring it on the career-summarizing compilation album Finally (only "SO CRAZY" represents). After something as tentative and a bit try-hard as this, the world was not ready for what was coming down the pipe with Queen of Hip-Pop, making that era all the more wild and magical.

Sparks in the Workplace

Ikeda Jun finally figures out why men won’t date her, and it has everything to do with Bakugou

Chapter Three

School was getting difficult, I hated school. I knew I had to power through the hard classes I didn’t like but it was going to be difficult. I threw my laptop onto the bed and sighed. My psych courses weren’t the hard part, it was all the pro hero and HIPPA laws that sucked. I know I need to know them but couldn’t they make the classes easier? I was knee deep in a paper about laws restricting PR reps and their relationships with Heroes when my phone buzzed.

I like Yamamoto, or Tamo as he wanted to be called. He is the sidekick from some unknown school in rural Japan that is trying to make it big here in Mustafa. His quirk is called Mega Metal, he can turn his entire left arm into a Katana! Mina introduced us a couple of days after the terrible interview, and we instantly clicked! He asked me out on a date just a few days ago and I am still swooning over how sweet and kind he is!

Sure! I’ll swing by your work at 5 and pick you up!

I squealed into my pillow and kicked my feet like a little girl. He didn’t mind that I hated Bakugou, he actually did too! Most guys when they found out I worked for Dynamight as his PR Rep, they left in a hurry. Bakugou is an intimidating guy. I knew that but it seem like people thought he would be competition. Not Tamo, though, he knew that my hatred for my boss was as real as paper.

Tamo made me feel giddy, like I was in highschool again. He opened doors for me, sent me coffee at work, and even made it a point to stop by if his patrol allowed him too. On the first date, he called Mina in front of me to thank her for setting us up! Talk about a major compliment.

The next day, there were three roses on my desk and a note from Tamo. He was excited for our date this evening. I breathed in the sweet smell of the roses and began working at my desk. Answering emails and setting up more PR work for Bakugou. I know I had to smooth over the incident from last week, my actual bosses were livid I let my feelings get in the way.

That didn’t stop Bakugou from his usual reign of terror on me. He still found ways to corner me, trip me, and fumble with my hair. I still wonder where he gets off being so mean to people? He was an asshole and I hated every second I had to spend with him. However, Tamo had me in such a good mood that not even Bakugou could ruin it.

“Ikeda.” My boss snaps me from my work.

“Bakugou.” I sneer and turn to look at him but I’m met with his chest. He’s reaching over my shoulder, right for the roses!

“What extra sent you these?” He growled, a fire lighting behind his eyes.

“Nobody, none of your business.” I growl back at him, snatching the roses and cutting myself in the process. “Shit.”

“Let me see.” Is all Bakugou says to me as he jerks my hand towards him and inspects it. His eyes flicker to mine and I feel my breath catch in my throat. His caramine eyes have me in a trance as his tongue darts out and licks the blood from my finger. An unwilling shiver travels down my spine and I can feel something pooling in my core.

“Give my finger back,” I jerk my hand to my chest like I had just touched fire, “Freak.” I add. Bakugou stuffs his hands in his pocket and leans forwards, lips next to my ear.

“Says the bitch whose pussy is dripping.” Another shiver is running down my spine.

Fuck. I push him away and get up. I rush for the bathroom, still holding my hand to my chest. I can feel the cheeky grin he has on his face following me as I leave. I quickly lock the door behind me and slide to the floor. What the actual fuck was that. Why was Bakugou able to do these kinds of things to me without even trying hard? I take a deep breath in and my senses are flooded with a rich burning caramel smell, his smell.

“Fuck,” I curse aloud and fist my hands in my hair. I know what he smells like, and I like it.

Everyone knows what he smells like, I try to reassure myself. The tabs are riddled with perfumes and candles trying to recreate his smell for his fans. The guy’s quirk is the fucking nitroglycerin he sweats! Of course he would be sweaty and smelling like a fucking dish. I mean, piece of shit.

“Uuuum, Jun?” Comes the soft voice of one of my coworkers. “I need to use the restroom.” I quickly unlock the door and rush back to my desk.

When I get there, there is no sign of Bakugou but there sits a blue “ajisai.” I pick the beautiful flower up and look at its blooms. Who left this here? I look around for a note but see nothing. I ask the ladies around me if they saw anything but all they do is giggle.

So, I text the group chat a picture.

Oh, I know. But I won’t tell, not yet.

I sigh and shut my phone off. I really should be getting back to work so I can leave on time to Tamotsu. I try to focus on everything but the flower and Mina’s message, what does she know that I don’t? I decided to work through lunch and skipped the meeting with the show producers for tomorrow's interview. They’ve already asked us on the show once before and they’re just getting a run down of what they can and can’t ask again.

5 hits and I’m walking out the door when I run into a solid wall, or I thought it was. My nose burns with that rich caramel scent once more and I look up at Bakugou. He’s smiling down at me. Asshole.

“Gotta date tonight, nerd?”

“What’s it to ya, sir?�� I smile at him sweetly, he grimaces.

“Don’t do that shit.” He backs away from me like I have a disease, I smile bigger and step closer.

“Do what, sir, smile?”

“Fuck off.” He growls and pushes me out of the way. I take one last glance at his hero gear and try to clear all of my thoughts of Bakugou.

However, I am beginning to worry about Tamo. 5:30 rolls around and I don’t see his car in sight, 6:00 comes and goes without any sight of him either. I breathe a defeated sigh and start walking home. Thn, someone honks. I look up to find Tamo, out of breath, running towards me and waving.

“Ikeda!” He calls, I smile and wave back at him.

“Hi, Tamo.”

“Let's go for a ride.” HIs smile is fake. Everything about him is off, I look him up and down. I can see he is wearing date clothes but his demeanor says this is a break up date.

“If you’re cutting things off, I’d rather jump in front of a bus.” I can feel tears threatening to break free from my tear ducts.

“Ikeda, please. I need to talk to you about something. I can’t do it here though. Please.” I look into his steel gray eyes and take his hand. He smiles at me wide and leads me to his vehicle.

We are silent as we drive to some cafe a few miles away.

“Talk.” I feel numb.

“Ikeda, this isn’t about you it’s about-”

“You want to know how many times I’ve heard this before?” I snarl at him, “It’s not you it’s you job. It’s not you, it’s me. At least you didn’t stand me up.”

“No, Ikeda, it’s-” He pauses for a moment, “Bakugou.”

“You told me he didn’t intimidate you.”

“Not until today.” There’s an emptiness behind his eyes. “Bakugou, he called me and he threatened me.”

“He threatened you?”

“He said he could pin any crime he wanted on me or kill me if he couldn’t do that.” A shiver racks his body and he starts crying. I reach over to touch Tamo’s shoulder but he jerks away from me.

“I can turn him in!” I offer.

“No! He says I will be fine if I stop messing with “his girl” so I-”

“Stop. Bakugou can’t threaten you and if this is how you tell me you’re seeing two girls. This is a real shitty way to do it.” I cross my arms over my chest and stare him down.

“No, Ikeda, you’re his girl”

Note

I hate the narrative that Florence hates DWD cuz of a love triangle where she didn’t “win” harry. Like she’s in a whole ass relationship already and it totally discredits her as an artist and professional.

Her beef is most likely with Olivia on how unprofessional she was and how anyone not harry was probs treated on set. I think it’s pretty obvious that O is addicted to the fame harry brings and started being obsessed with it early on. She probs sucked up to him and got her agents to get her in this PR stunt so they can both be mega stars in the movie space. I could see Flo being annoyed with being cast aside with the rest of the cast and also recognizing that because O cared more about fame than the movie it falling into the hands of others on set. So now it’s “Olivia’s movie” when she probs was a horrible boss and I can see Flo being resentful toward that. This is a project she’s a lead in and was excited about. We’ve all had bosses like that who take all the credit but barely did any of the work while they played favorites and were naracisstic assholes.

Im guessing we see a lot more question skirting to the director of cinematography in terms of style when they do press tours and generic responses about O from the cast.

Well, hopefully none of the cast will be asked about her directly. Even good actors have their tells.
