Esta é a nossa apresentação para o concurso Glassberries Design Awards de 2018. A proposta era a criação de uma garrafa de vinho, para qualquer vinho. A ROSA foi a nossa resposta, uma garrafa para vinho rosé que combina silhuetas de duas garrafa distintas -flauta e cantil- e contém ainda uma rosácea no exterior da picadura, cujo padrão é dependente da marca a utilizar a garrafa. O módulo desse padrão aparece ainda no pescoço do produto. Havia ainda uma proposta de packaging que, devido à nossa inscrição tardia e uma confusão de comunicação, não foi desenvolvida até o fim.

Our submission for the Glassberries Design Awards contest 2018. The prompt was to create a wine bottle for any kind of wine. Our answer to this was ROSA, a bottle for rosé wine, combining two distinct shapes of bottles -the flute and the canister- and having a rosacea pattern on the bottom of the bottle, its shape depending on brand. A sample of the pattern also appears on the neck. There was also a prompt for a corrugated box, however, due to the late sign up and a communication mishap, there was not much thought behind it.

Who doesn’t love berries?

They can be eaten raw, they (usually) taste sweet and are used for brewing. In this case, they are the main essence of potions and equal things.

In my first series of posts I’m going to introduce 7 berries i came up with or altered a bit.

2. The “Glassberry”

Similar to grapes, they are transparent, nutritious and juicy. The glassberry, however, is hollow and contains two liquids which will always separate from each other into two different layers. Just like water and oil.

The seeds are floating around in the much clearer, less sticky fluid. It’ll keep them moist after the fruit falls onto the ground and sets them free. That way, the glassberry’s able to grow in more humid areas.

Sweetness and nutrition. Both of these things originate from the top liquid, the berriy’s nectar. It’s sticky, thick and syrupy. As soon as the glassberry hit’s the ground, the nectar pours over the seeds, enveloping them completely, resulting in the plant surviving even under desolate conditions.

Therefore the glassberry can be found in grasslands, forrests, jungles and even in the savannah. They can’t survive in deserts, however.

Glasberries taste sweet, although the aqueous fluid is almost tasteless. Their size can be compared to those of grapes. The vines they are growing on are usually dark-brown. The leaves, however, appear transaprent, too.

Brewing with Glassberries:

In brewing, they are used to fuse different potions, poisons and venoms.

e.g.:

mixing a healing potion and an insomnia-brew together with some glassberries will result in a potion that is both capable of healing and protecting against sleep effects.

mixing lich poison, summer wine and glassberries leads to a mixture that will poison your enemies and set them to sleep at the same time.

Mixing two bottles together results in getting two bottles of the resulting liquid and so on.

For the amount of required berries; 5 are usually more than enough for 2 liters.

Mixing is considered as a brewing process and requires additional time! (This time span depends on the resulting fluid.)

When I’m done with listing all the ingredients, I will post and constantly update a list of potions, poisons and vemoms that you can mix to create new things.

I didn’t manage to complete the full North Shore Yarn Crawl this year, but I did make it to a few stores.

I picked up 5 colors of Silk Blend (picture 1) at @anotheryarnshop. I plan on using them to make an In the Loop Cowl (picture 2) by @espacetricot.

At @coveted_yarn I got some Louisa Harding Fauve on clearance (picture 3), and plan on knitting a Deschain pullover by Leila Raabe (picture 4). I also got some Ella Rae Phoenix DK (picture 5) that I’m hoping to turn into a Glassberry cardigan by @meghanjoneslnmp (picture 6).

Last but not least, I made it out to my favorite store @circlestitches in Salem (it’s probably a good thing that they are not a little closer to me or I’d spend all my money there). I love this shop! It’s cute and quirky and has a great selection of yarn and other fun witchy things too. I went in looking for a specific yarn and not only did they have plenty of it in many colors to choose from, with their “buy 5 at full price get the 6th skein free” promotion I ended up getting a full sweater’s worth of for less than I had thought I was going to spend.

I have been telling @squidisok for YEARS now that I cannot knit him a sweater because of the “boyfriend curse” (not that I really believed it would bring us bad luck but hey, why take a chance?). I have made him many hats, socks, scarfs, vests, etc but no sweaters. Now that we are married I feel like it’s time he got a hand knit sweater of his own. He wants it to be more like a light jacket, so together we picked out the Ranger pattern by @jared_flood (picture 7). I decided to splurge and knit it in the original yarn (Brooklyn Tweed Shelter). I had Bill look at all the color options in person at Circle of Stitches and he picked the colorway “Nest” (picture 8).

Pretty good weekend as far as stash enhancement goes...
