I have convinced my mom (who knows exactly zero about US history or the revolution) to watch the HBO John Adams miniseries.

Her responses so far have been delightful.

On John Adams:

"He's very ugly..." [moment of quiet] "Oh! He's smart! Now I get it."

On Abigail Adams:

"She has that man's balls in a vice." "She could do better."

On Washington being named general of the continental army:

"He looks very unhappy about his promotion."

On Edward Rutledge:

"Oh what a cute little boy!" [moment of quiet] "Wait, is he the bad guy?" [Every time Neddy appears on screen, pausing and waving frantically] "Come quick! It's our boy!"

Somehow glimpsing into the future - idk how she came up with this since I didn't realise she even knew who Hamilton was:
