Okay but also Trent threatening Essek is so fucking funny in hindsight considering Trent's been in prison for seven years. Does he even actually know that Caleb is with Essek or is he making an informed guess based on Caleb having a type and the few protective interactions that he witnessed? Does he not realize Essek's been out of the Dynasty for ages? Does the Dynasty still not have hard evidence against Essek? Does Trent really believe that they'd listen to the word of an escaped convict from an enemy nation who was imprisoned ostensibly for turning teenagers into assassins that were probably used to target the Bright Queen herself?

the entire season they've shown sylvie perpetually being okay to just walk away from the fray and getting no consequences whatsoever. which would be ok since she doesn't rlly care about them like loki does. but in the end she just moves on so fast after she watched loki isolate himself and go off JUST to fix her mistake.......
meanwhile mobius is there, frozen in that time, left behind by the person he's an "expert" on not only bc of his job but bc of their friendship, him quitting the job that was his entire life, because loki has left and his previous purpose didn't have loki anymore
it's just fucked up how everyone else got their happy endings (good for them) except for loki and mobius. they're apart, separated once again, looking miserable in their last shots. just like last season.

hello! this ask ended up becoming a very long tangent so feel free to ignore it lmao. just had some thoughts on tpt and idk who else to rant to
i feel like i generally enjoyed tpt but also agree w a lot of criticism ive seen about it (was definitely put off by wrens lack of agency and so disappointed that we didnt see her reunite w her parents…that phone call w her mom was the most emotionally evocative scene for me in the first book and lowkey made me cry).
idk if someone already brought this up but a small thing that bothered me was that the thistlewitch’s bargain with oak never came back to bite him or was even mentioned again. specifically the exchange where she asked him to grant her a request upon becoming king, and he agreed since he didnt plan to be king anyway even though she implied she’d seen otherwise in his future. i get that this is foreshadowing ultimately that oak would become a king through marrying wren rather than inheriting, but it surprised me that the ramifications of him thus having to put his money where his mouth is re:thistlewitch never actually come up when he has the whole ‘oh i’d still be a king by marriage’ realization in tpt.
like it seems like it should be plot relevant that oak is now indebted to a hag who is somewhat implied to be conspiring (or at least affiliated) with mother marrow / bogdana, given that he specifically questions why mother marrow sent him off to the thistlewitch to get info, when she already could have told him that wren had melliths heart. idk was that part ever explained? i listened to the audiobook so if it was i might have zoned out or something, but i lowkey kept expecting that piece to be revealed as part of the hag conspirators’ plan
i guess that its just a red herring having finished the book now, but i was still confused that oak never even reflects back on it in his inner monologue at some point, especially when he realizes that he is still on track to becoming a king when he marries wren? like the book just ends with him being like ‘i guess ill be a king :) for you :)’ so i suppose hes either forgotten about the thistlewitch or doesnt care
maybe i read far too much into this one interaction or just missed something. but idk it just seems like a missed opportunity and/or dropped plot line to me and i really feel like that red string corkboard charlie day meme just thinking about it.
thank u for reading if you got through it all :,)
No worries, I enjoy reading ppl's takes in my inbox, be it positive or negative~ SAME the Thistlewitch was the BACKBONE to all my TPT predictions and then she ended up irrelevant. Then when the entire consort VS king/queen topic popped up I was like OH SMART, this could be a good middle ground. But no. Despite all his best attempts at avoiding it, he is still getting a crown, hence the hags can still collect that boon one day. And what if the boon is "Reignite the Court of Teeth's insurgence and march against Elfhame and put your hag bride on the throne". What then.

I, Claudius Episode 5 Poison Is Queen
I'm sick of it! The gods know I've done my best! He never liked me. Never! Thirty years I've run his errands for him! I've fought on his bloody frontiers, collected his taxes! He's never once put his hand on my arm and said, "Thank you. What would I have done without you?" Now he sends me off to Illyricum and he doesn't even plan a farewell dinner. Not even a goodbye. Just get on your horse and ride! Well, damn him! I retired before and I can retire again! Let his precious grandson run his empire for him. I'm sick to death of it!

i think it's really interesting that morgott names all of his "willful traitor" family in his boss fight cutscene and yet leaves messmer out, despite him seeming to be so overwhelmingly coded as The Quintessential Traitor. like, is it that
morgott considers messmer (again, heavily associated with snakes and fire, the specific symbolic enemies of the erdtree, and managed to get his whole throne removed) such a traitor that he refuses to even speak his name
morgott actually does not consider messmer a traitor (they do appear to share similar motives, and we have no real evidence of messmer participating in the shattering war, which is morgott's chief complaint about everyone else)
he's naming shardbearers who participated in the shattering war, specifically (godrick gets included) and messmer doesn't have a great rune/wasn't a part of the shattering, so whatever else aside he was irrelevant to the point morgott was making
none of the above; morgott doesn't even know messmer exists (very possible that messmer was born+grew up+got [???] while the omens were in the sewer and they just completely missed each other) so he's just like ah yes. malenia. miquella. that one inexplicable empty space. radahn.

MCU really lost the opportunity to cash in on Loki's entire time with Thanos and the denial/reclamation of his past on Asgard and being hurt by his family and being Jotun and loving his family regardless and being a master sorcerer like wow what part of his identity did the show cash in on exactly

just a thought. tabris making alistair a king, but it's all a scheme, they're off to dismantle monarchy together, but it's one thing to get rid of the king, they want to bring down all the nobility as well.

no no no you're not listening to me: viserys' last moments with his family was all of them sitting supper together, forgiving old wounds and willing to move on, rhaenyra and alicent both putting forth genuine apologies and yes aegon acted up but jace knew better, was raised better, ultimately recognized the fact that aegon's just being a little shit bc that's what he is and so jace extended his patience and toast regardless bc he recognized what this moment meant for all of them and jace took helena's hand to dance with her in front of their gathered family bc he probably remembered how sweet she always was - proved to still be true by her little awkward speech - and he could've offered his hand to baela instead but they both knew it would solidify the mending ties if jace asked helena and they danced and they giggled and they had fun and the rest of the dinner table seemed well and good to leave things as they were and viserys saw all of this. in unimaginable pain and he watched it all. he watched the years of distance and festering distrust be slowly, meticulously, healed one offering of forgiveness and well wishes at a time and viserys finally releases the hold he's had on his pain the whole day so he can go to bed having heard his family's laughter and seen their smiles all around him. and when he died, he sees his love, he sees aemma *cue violent tears*
