the entire season they've shown sylvie perpetually being okay to just walk away from the fray and getting no consequences whatsoever. which would be ok since she doesn't rlly care about them like loki does. but in the end she just moves on so fast after she watched loki isolate himself and go off JUST to fix her mistake.......
meanwhile mobius is there, frozen in that time, left behind by the person he's an "expert" on not only bc of his job but bc of their friendship, him quitting the job that was his entire life, because loki has left and his previous purpose didn't have loki anymore
it's just fucked up how everyone else got their happy endings (good for them) except for loki and mobius. they're apart, separated once again, looking miserable in their last shots. just like last season.

The throne room was secluded enough- quiet enough. Save for the guards that stood watch outside of the grand doors, the hall was empty but of her and her king. Her place was on his lap, a comfort provided in between regal meetings and audiences with the now king of Asgard.
They made small talk. Idle, loving conversation between partners- planning of the upcoming celebrations, the well-being of friends, gossip on topics that didn’t leave the castle walls.
“My dear,” his voice rumbled against her back as his fingers flexed against her waist. “How are your studies?”
As a Midguardian now living in Asgard, her knowledge of her new home’s culture needed to be improved, including her understanding of the dialect. She hummed from her spot in his lap, gaze unwavering from the gilded book that rested in her hands. “Quite well, min kjærlighet.” (my love)
His grip tightened as he pulled her further against him and let his forehead drop to her shoulder again with a groan. She felt his taut chest graze against her back. “Say that again.”
“Min kjærlighet,” she smirked, one hand moving up and behind her to rest in his dark locks. “Min konge.” (my love - my king)
His teeth nipped at the skin in the crook of her neck. His hands grasped at the silk draped around her waist and tugged it upwards. “Loki-”
“Do you want to serve your king, pet?” His voice rumbled down her spine. His crotch shifted against hers, rutting softly. “Read to me.”
“What ails thee, Hiálmar? Thy hue is pale-” Loki clicked his tongue as he unfastened trousers and pulled his stiff cock into the open air.
“You’ll never learn if you don’t practice, love.” Her bare pussy rubbed against him now, the tip of his cock grinding deliciously against her. He sheathed himself in her warmth with a low groan ripping from his throat. “Just like this, pet. Keeping me warm.” He forced her hips to circle over his crotch. “Now try again.”
“Store sår, jeg sliten, slitne-” he stilled his thrusts and her hips at the mistake, a whine slipping through her lips.
“I thought you were smarter. I thought you were trying to learn,” he grunted.
“Please, my king.” He sighed with disapproval.
“Did I say to stop reading? Continue.” His hands tightened against her skin, promising bruises and indentions in their wake.
“Store sår, jeg sliten, gjør deg trett,” she let out a breathy sigh. “Din hjelm er hugget, din hauberk eke.”
“That’s better.” His palm trailed to her front, pressing into the lower swell of her belly as he gave a sharp thrust. She gasped at the sensation of his length straining against her insides. “Norns, I can feel myself inside you. Deep within your aching cunt as you keep me warm. Is this not how it should be? Keep reading, my love.”
Her fingers gripped the pages of the book, the paper wrinkling beneath her strength. Her cunt dripped against the leather of his pants, slick and warm.
“P-på slutten er nå ditt liv-” she stuttered as the speed of his movements increased. “Sår har jeg seks, er spaltet byrnie-” and then slowed with her error. Her voice broke with an agitated cry.
“Seksten-” He corrected in her ear, teeth dragging against her ear lobe. “Are you even trying?”
“I know you want to cum.” His fingers rubbed slow circles into her clit, not causing enough friction to get her closer to her end goal. “Finish reading to me and I’ll let you.”
“Please,” she let out a whine, eyes scrunched shut. He moved his fingers to grope her thigh, pinching the delicate skin. A gasp tumbled out of her mouth and his voice took on more bite. “I said, ‘finish reading to me and I’ll let you.’ You wouldn’t want me to deny you of that now would you.”
“-svakt vokser synet mitt, jeg ser ikke lenger-” His lips rested against her shoulder, repeated kisses and the soft lap of his tongue darted across her skin. His hips pistoned up into hers in a steady thrust as his fingers trailed up under her silk to toy with the perked flesh of her nipple.
“That’s it, my love.” Her hand fell from the pages of the book to cover his over her breast, the foreign language pouring from lips. Their fingers intertwined with each other as he kneaded at the supple flesh. “Good pet, learning so quickly, aren’t you.”
“For you, my king.” Her voice was breathless, slurred as she finished the verse. His lips continued their assault, only breaking away from her flesh to view the blossom marks left in their wake.
She continued with her reading, he continued with his movements. His grasps against her hips and on her breasts did not slack. If anything, his grip strengthened its hold as he pace sped up with each correctly presented line of the poem.
And when she made a mistake? He would stop all movements until she corrected herself, and then continued as he was.
She finished the second to last verse- “-men jeg overmester her mange sår” - and his grip against her found a more secure purchase.
“My sweet,” he groaned, as he pistoned into her with greater intent. “You’re almost done, love.” She cried as he elevated her to an almost release. She could feel her mind blank, eyes screwed shut in anticipation. His cock dragged against her warmth at a steady pace now, bucking up into her with force. She grasped at the hands against her, straggled cries and pleas fell from her lips, tears welling in her eyes. She could feel herself clench around him, could feel herself begin to tip over the edge.
And then it all stopped. His grip pulled her unmoving against his lap once again. He panted behind her, pressing his lips calmly into her shoulder once more. “But not yet.”
She wanted to cry, her ruined orgasm holding too much over her. “Loki-”
“Nearly there, pet.” The moderate buck of his hips started once again. “You can do it.”
“"Flyr fra sør den sultne ravn-” her voice was sore and scratched, stuttered from her needed release “I can’t, please,” she begged, trying to move her hips against him as best she could.
“You can,” he grunted, a hand coming down on the inside of her thigh. “And you will.”
“-fløyter med ham brakørnen;” she gasped, his hips picking up speed in the slightest.
“Keep going, pet,” echoed in her ear. “You’re doing so well.”
“På kjøttet til de falne skal jeg ikke lenger mate dem:” his finger trail yet again to her clit, waiting for the words to fall from lips. “på kroppen min vil begge batte nå.”
The book clattered to the floor, a loud thud ignored as his hips began once again to thrust sharply into her. She barely registers Loki moving her belly over the armrest of the throne, her place on his lap long forgotten. Her cries, his moans mingled together and echoed over the walls.
“Please,” her voice was broken and begging. “Please Loki.” His fingers moved quick circles against her cunt, his other hand applying pressure to her throat. The wet smack of his hips pounding against her ass resounded throughout the great room. The pent-up lust and frustration clouded the space around them, Loki’s own strong-willed nature holding himself back from taking what had so righteously and matrimonially been defined as his.
She clenched around him once more, this time no longer bounded by text on a page to deny her release. Her cries grew fervent, desperate and craving to actually mean something.
“That’s it darling, cum for me. Cum for your king.” His voice was muddled as he held himself back from his own release, his hard stiffness aching within her.
At last, finally, his name in a yelp of ecstasy was ripped from her lungs, thighs shaking against the wrinkled leather of his pants. Her back arched, arms pressed into the side of the throne. Loki’s head fell into her shoulder as he clutched her harder, more bruises expected. A strangled grunt and a whimpered, “I’m cumming” fell from his lips and into her skin. She was filled with his long-awaited release, his cum dripping out where they were connected.
They panted into the empty room, heartbeats pounding in their ears. He pulled her once more against his chest, allowing them to both take a moment to collect themselves. Loki placed his fingers under her chin, turning it towards him to meet his lips. They ran against each other, lovingly and messily, as they always did. And then he tucked his chin into her shoulder.
“Love,” she spoke, breathless and exhausted. “I should go clean up.”
She moved to rise off of him and his lap but his arms kept her in place, him sliding back into her fully with a moan from both of them. “No, my darling.”
“No?” she chuckled, reaching up to stroke his hair.
“No,” his voice was steady, authoritative. “I have a meeting in 5 minutes. You are going to stay right where you are, with my cock and my cum inside of you, understand?”
Her eyes went wide for a second before a small smile took over her face.
“Yes, min konge.”

“Jealous? I ain’t jealous!” with Loki for the prompt list? Pretty please?
Jealous? I ain't Jealsous!
Pairing: Loki x Reader, Thor X Read (platonic)
Warnings: some swear words, none
Summary: You've been invited to one of the castles parties by the God of Mischief himself, of course he is your best friend.
Loki Masterlist
~~~~~
"I feel ridiculous." You stated as Thor pulled you toward the great room. "Thor I dont think I should be here." You planted your feet on the ground causing him to stop and turn around. Sure you had been to other events held in the castle but never anythung this fancy before. The gown you wore was a little over the top for you, the heels were to high, and your hair had to many pins in it to count.
You was use to the simple dresses, flat shoes, and loose hair that ran down your back, but you had to keep reminding your self you was doing all of this for him. For him to possibly notice you for someone more than just a person to vent to.
"You will be fine Lady Y/N. You look beautiful as always, Loki is very lucky to have someone as divine as you." Thor gave you one of his signature smiles. He was one of the greatest friends that you had. He had helped you pick everything out from the dress (that he had paud for, he wouldnt take no for an answer) all the way to how you was going to approach the whole topic with Loki.
As soon as you walked into the hall a few of the people bear the door turned to look at you and bow to Thor.
"Lady Y/n, would you like to dance?" A handsome man you had seen a few times around came to you and bowed.
"Ummm no no. I dont really dance." You tried waving him off.
"Non sense, everyone dances even if it is not good." He smiles as he takes your hand.
"Thor help please." You mouthed as you was lead away. The dance lasted longer than you were hoping and your toes where the man had been stepping was sore. "Thank but I really must go." You bowed to him walking off.
"I shall kill you by the end of the night Thor." You said grabbing on to his arm to steady yourself as you fixed your shoes. He laughed as he offered your hand.
"Come then dance with someone who doesnt have two left feet. Have you seen Loki yet?" He asked spinning you arund alot more graceful than the other had.
"I have not seen your brother yet but I bet he would have helped me out." You rolled your eyes.
"I couldn't help you out with the one but I can save you from this one if you would like?" I smooth voice asked from behind you. Tur kng you seen the raven haired man dressed in black pants with an elegant black top his emerald cloak hanging behind him. He offered his hand to you, a dazzeling smile greeted you.
"I would very much like that." You took his hand and let him spin you around the room like you was air. "I thought you was going to meet me here?"
"I truly did try, my father had some business he wanted to discuss." He wrapped his arm around your waist pulling you closer to him, his left hand resting on the small of your back. "I didnt however think you would simply go from one brother to the next so fast though sweetheart." He laughed.
"Sir, are you jealous that Thor has kept me busy while I had to wait?" You grined up at him.
"Jealous? Darling I assure you I am not jealous." He laughed. "I do not however like that fact that I missed the first dance with you." After the dance was over he lead you out of one of the side doors that lead to a long hall.
"I must talk to you about what father wanted." He looked nervously at you.
"I wanted to talk to you also Loki. I know how this might sound though." You stopped and grabbed his arm. "Hold on I must get out of these shoes. They are killing me."
"You are the only woman I know that would rather walk bare foot." He laughed as he steady you long enough to take off your shoes. Hold out a hand he took them from you.
"Father wants me to pick a bride. Says that its time I take responsibility and that since Thor does not want the throne I am next." Your heart shattered. Of course he would chose one of the other princesses from other places. You had no fight in this battle. "What was it you wanted to say?" Your heart lept to your throat. Could you tell him? Let him reallt know how you felt. Might as well, whats the worst that could happen?
"Loki I love you. I have loved you for a while now. You are, and always will be my best friend, and I will stand behind you. Who ever you decide to choose." You looked up at him. Tears in your eyes, he met you with a smile.
"Well thats good I guess, one of the conditions was that I got ti choose who I was to court. I was wondering if I could possibly court you Lady Y/n?"
Your jaw dropped you had never imagined him feeling the same. Becore you could even think you had wrapped your hand around the back of his neck and pulled him down meeting your lips. "You know this would have been easier if you had kept the shoes on." He laughed pulling away slightly. "But I wouldn't have it any other way." He leaned back down catching your lips again.
In the distances you heard Thor shouting into the great hall. "Mother! She accepted! We are going to have a wedding!" Cheers rose from the room.
"Must we go back in there?" You mumbled.
"No, lets go some where thats more private." He saod simply pulling you after him.
~~~~
ANNOUNCEMENT: first request done! Annon I hope you enjoy it! It came out a little longer than I had planned. I think i've just came to realize that I cant write short one shots 🙈😁 thank you so much though. I really did enjoy writing this one.

Things I liked/disliked About Endgame (Obviously, spoilers)
I need somewhere to rant so here we go.
Liked:
- All that sweet sweet pepperony content.
-  Every Tony/Nebula scene.
- Captain Marvel being the one to rescue Tony (actually, all the captain marvel scenes).
- Every moment Natasha was on screen. The budapest references, her fucking sweet as fuck relationship with Clint. What a fucking icon we stan black widow. That cute forehead touch. A really genuinely sweet male/female platonic relationship.
- Nat, Bruce and Tony sitting on that desk making up master plans together.
- Rhodey proposing they go back in time and kill baby Thanos.
- Rhodey in general.
- Pepper in the Rescue suit (hazzah!)
- All the marvel ladies gathering together.
- Scarlet Witch kicking Thanos’ ass. You get him sweetie.
- Not in anyway acknowledging Nat and Bruce’s romantic past.
- All the easter eggs during the time travel. Actually everything during the time travel, especially hulk going down the stairs. Oh, and America’s Ass.
- Tony getting closure with his dad and Thor getting closure with his mom.
- I mean pretty much the entire end battle sequence.
- MORGAN STARK.
- Soft Tony and Peter hug.
- Gamora coming back in any shape or form (hey, at least she’s not dead man)
- The ancient one. God bless that was good.
Disliked:
- Thor’s arch. They could have done something really interesting with his depression, alcoholism and PTSD (like iron man 3, which was life changing for me to see a hero deal with anxiety on screen) and instead they treated it like a joke and undid two movies of fantastic character development after the subpar development that the dark world and ultron did. Oh, and on this note, not giving him his fucking brother back. He deserved at least that much after all they put him through, like.
- I’d like to say, again, NOT bringing back Loki.
- Hulk’s arch. I just... did not enjoy it. It was weird man. The parts I liked hulk the most was when they went back in time and we got to see cute baby hulk. That was not the way to develop that character, man. Bruce Banner and Hulk are so good as separate characters. All we wanted was to watch him bust out of the hulkbuster armour not turn into professor hulk and wear tshirts.
- Killing Nat and Tony. Even though both were actually so well done and I couldn’t have asked for better deaths it still bummed me out and I dont watch superhero movies to be bummed out. I want a little angst and then a happy ending. If I want to watch all my faves die I’ll go watch game of thrones. I watch superhero movies to feel hope, to feel like a little kid, and feel like I can do anything if these heroes can save the world.
- “till the end of the line” steve ditching bucky in a world where he has like... no friends except for his frenemy sam wilson so he can homewreck in an alternate timeline. I mean I still dig the last dance scene because cute but he was just like... byeeee buckyyy. This movie did a lot of justice to small relationships and nods (like wanda/clint) but somehow forgot how much steve loved bucky. Not enough justice was done for that (gay) relationship.
- the fact that they like... totally could have gone back in time and brought past versions of Tony and Nat into the present exactly like what happened with Gamora. Like yes it would create alternate timelines but I mean that’s already happening with 2014 Gamora appearing now and Steve staying back with Peggy. It wouldn’t effect their own timeline. Steve could have gone to a version of Tony before the battle and been like ‘yo dude... I need you to come back with me you are dead in our timeline and if I bring you with me you get to live a happy life with your wife and daughter, do you trust me?’ cute full circle moment.

Thor felt love for his wife Jane and his friends but nothing compared to the little bundle of joy that he held in his arms. When Jane first told him she was pregnant, he was absolutely thrilled and now their daughter was finally here. She was perfect. Absolutely perfect. She took after Thor with his eyes and curly blonde hair but had her mother’s nose, lips and chin.
Fresh tears trickled down Thor’s cheeks as he admired his new daughter that was wrapped in a blanket.
“So beautiful.” Thor praised. His infant daughter grabbed one of his fingers, making him smile.
“You’re never going to give her back are you?” Jane asked as she saw how in love Thor was with their child.
“Never.”
Jane rolled her eyes. “May I remind you that I did all the work?”
“Okay, you can name her but that’s the best I can do.” Thor teased.
“I always liked the name Hannah.”
Thor smiled down at his daughter. “Hannah, daughter of Thor. I like the sound of that.”
***
“What do you think you’re doing?” Thor chuckled as he watched his little girl attempt to climb onto the throne.
She grunted, pushing herself up but to no avail. “Trying to sit on my throne.” she pouted.
“Your throne?” Thor questioned.
“Well someday it will be.”
Thor laughed, picking up his little toddler in his arms. “Yes, one day, little one. You are destined for greatness and someday you shall be the queen of Asgard. But for now, you’re my little princess.” He gently kissed her cheek.
“Dad! Not in front of Uncle Loki!”
He looked up to see his brother approaching them. “Don’t worry, I didn’t see anything.” He smirked, holding his palms up.
Hannah wiggled out of her father’s arms to run after her uncle.  She hugged his legs before he picked her up and wrapped her arms around his neck. “How about we do some training today little one?” Loki asked.
“Okay.” Hannah smirked as she held up one of his daggers.
“You little sneak!”
They both laughed.
Thor stared at them. “You teaching my daughter to pickpocket?!”
Loki shrugged, trying to look innocent. “Figured I should teach her what I know.”
“She’s only five! Too young for daggers!”
Hannah rolled her eyes. “Told you he’d get mad when he found out.”
“Well you’re the one who picked in front of him.”
“You taught me.”
“Touche.”
“I don’t like my daughter playing with weapons. It’s dangerous.” Thor said sternly.
“Brother, hear me out….”
“Okay, I’m waiting.” Thor crossed his arms.
Loki cleared his throat but no words came out. Thor raised a brow.
“Never thought you’d let me get this far.” Loki admitted.
“Dad, he’s teaching me to defend myself.” Hannah spoke.
“Yes, what she said.” Loki agreed, nodding.
“Hannah darling, you’re only five.” Thor defended. “What do you need to defend yourself from?”
She rolled her eyes again. “I’m a highly sophisticated five year old.”
“She’s not wrong.” Loki shrugged.
Thor sighed, seeing he was outnumbered. Looks like his daughter inherited her mother’s stubbornness. “Tell me you’re being careful.”
She nodded. “Haven’t even scratched myself yet, Father.”
“You should see her in action. She’s a feisty one!” Loki smiled at her proudly.
Thor sighed again. “I’d rather not.”
“So can we train Uncle Loki? Please?” Hannah batted her eyes and there was no way Loki could say no.
“Course. That is if your father is okay with it.”
They both looked up at Thor. “Pout your lips, he can’t resist when I do it.” she whispered to him.
Loki pouted his lower lip making Thor chuckle. “Alright. Just be careful. I mean it.”
“Thanks Daddy! I promise!”
***
That evening Hannah was in her bedroom with her mother Jane who was braiding her hair as she told of her adventures with Uncle Loki.
“Knives huh?” Jane asked.
She nodded. “You should have seen me, Mom! Uncle Loki said I was really good for my age!”
“Uncle Loki.” Jane sighed, still not his biggest fan. “I don’t like the idea of you playing with sharp objects honey.”
“Daddy said the same thing but he let me.”
Jane sighed again, padding her shoulders. “All done, sweetie.” They looked in her mirror, Hannah admiring her new French braid. “I love it, Mommy! Thank you!” She stood up to hug her and kiss her cheek, making Jane laugh.
“You’re welcome, sweetie.”
“You’re not gonna let me stop training with Uncle Loki are you?” She pouted. “We have a lot of fun.”
“You’re guilt tripping me aren’t you?” Jane asked.
“Maybe.” Hannah looked away innocently.
“Well I guess you should know how to protect yourself.” she said.
“Thank you, Mommy.” Hannah kissed her cheek again.
“This is my dagger.” She grabbed her weapon from her dresser and showed it to her. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Also dangerous.” said Jane, holding it in her hand. It was rather stunning. A black hilt decorated with green jewels. Swirls were carved in the blade.
“Uncle Loki gave it to me.” Hannah smiled proudly.
“The things he teaches you.” she sighed.
“You teach me things too, Mommy.”
“Like what?” she smiled.
“Well I know how to be nice and kind to everyone and you just taught me how to French Braid. Uncle Loki is teaching me self defense. Father teaches me about strength, loyal and honor.”
Jane smiled down at her, proud of what the woman her daughter was growing into. “We just want you to be safe is all.” She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“I know, Mommy. Like I told, Daddy, haven’t even scratched myself yet.”
Jane stroked her cheek fondly and kissed her temple. “It’s getting late, honey, let’s go to bed.”
“Okay, Mommy.”
***
Jane walked in the empty corridor, her daughter now asleep for the night. She had a few words to say to her Uncle Loki.
She knocked on his door and he answered. “Fancy seeing you here, Lady Jane.”
Jane rolled her eyes at the nickname. “I want to talk.”
Loki stepped aside to let her in. “I know we’re family now but that doesn’t mean I have forgotten about what you did in New York.”
This time Loki rolled his eyes. “Heaven's sake that was a lifetime ago.”
“Still, it happened.”
Loki didn’t respond.
“But I’m gonna put up with you because I see how much my daughter loves you. She admires you and she spent twenty minutes excitingly telling me about your training.” Her voice was laced with venom at the last word. “I don’t think it’s exactly appropriate giving five year olds sharp objects.”
Loki forced a dry laugh. “Thor said that to me as well and I understand but I also think you two underestimate her. She is more capable than you know. I am training her so she can be great.”
Jane sighed. “She can be great doing other things than fighting.”
“I’m not teaching her to fight. I’m teaching her self defense. There is a difference.”
Jane narrowed her eyes at him. “Whatever you call it, I want her to be safe. Train her better, train her harder. Train her to where she can defeat even you.”
An uncomfortable silence settled between the two adults. “I will, I promise.” Loki swore. “I care about her more than you know as if she were my own. I would never do anything to put her in harm's way. I would never make her do anything I wouldn’t think she was capable of.”
Jane stared at him, surprised by how genuine he sounded. He was telling the truth. “Just keep her safe.”
“Yes, Lady Jane. You have my word.”
Jane smirked. “Enough with this Lady Jane crap. It’s weird.”
Loki bowed making her roll her eyes. “I’m going to bed, goodnight.”
****
Thor never liked the idea of his daughter playing with weapons but he found himself watching from nearby as she and Loki train in the throne room. He cheered when she sent Loki to the floor, a knife at his neck. He had to admit she was rather good.
Loki chuckled. “Better. Much better.”
Hannah smirked. “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have actually stabbed you.”
“Thanks.”
She offered her hand and he took it but he pulled her into a headlock, forcing her to her knee with his foot.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to let your guard down?”
She grunted. “Damn it.”
He let go and flipped his dagger. “Letting your guard down can have deadly consequences. Never forget that.” He let her go and she cursed to herself. “Think that’s enough training for today.” It’s been years since his encounter with Jane but he has never forgotten the promise he made to her to making Hannah better than him in training.
Hannah scolded herself as she left the throne room, catching her dad in the hall. “Hey, Dad. What are you doing in here?”
Thor was caught off guard. “What? Oh, I was just uh, inspecting these columns.” He patted the one next to him. “Yup. Still sturdy.”
Hannah saw right through his lie. “You were watching me and Uncle Loki weren’t you?”
“No.” he scoffed, avoiding eye contact, crossing his arms.
“You’re so full of it.” she smirked as she and him went down the hall.
“You are pretty good, by the way.” Thor spoke, his arm around her.
“Thanks, Dad.”
She was twelve now and has become a rather excellent fighter but Uncle Loki still wasn’t entirely please. He was hard on her. All she wanted to do was please him but nothing seemed good enough.
She and her father stood out on the balcony, overlooking Asgard in all its glory. It was beautiful and she never got tired of it.
“Dad?”
“Yes, love?”
“When can I visit Earth? Mom is from there and you told me of all your adventures you had. Seems only fair I can come too.”
Thor sighed. “I thought about it. But I was going to wait till your older. Earth is...strange...dangerous. Here in Asgard, you’re safe.”
“But being safe all the time is boring.” Hannah complained. “I know how to defend myself. You saw. Please, Dad I really want to go.”
“Okay, let’s make a deal.” Thor said, Hannah hanging on his every word. “You can come along with me when you can defeat Loki in training.”
She scoffed. “That's not fair.”
“Never said it had to be fair. Or you can wait till you’re sixteen. Whichever comes first.”
Hannah groaned. “Fifteen?”
“Fine.” Like she would ever beat her Uncle.
Her father rested a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry, love.”
He gently kissed her on her head before leaving.
Hannah sighed. She stood there for what felt like hours, watching the sky change. She rested her forearms on the balcony, looking down and something caught her eye. She noticed a young boy, her age maybe a little older. Three other bigger boys were surrounding him. He looked uncomfortable, almost intimidated like he was prey and the boys were a pack of wolves coming in for the kill.
Hannah almost ignored them but then she saw them shove the cornered boy to the ground. Anger boiled inside of her. If there was one thing she hated, it was bullies.
“What are you gonna do about it, blind boy?” the middle boy mocked. “Gonna go cry to your parents? Oh right. They’re dead.”
“Don’t you know? Blind boys can’t cry.”
“Good one.” The boys bumped fists.
The cornered boy felt utterly helpless as he was backed against the wall. One of them raised their fists but before he could punch him, Hannah suddenly dropped down between them, grabbing hold of his fist.
“Whoa, what the fuck? Where did you come from?” They jumped back, startled.
“Asgard.” Hannah answered, flatly.
“Move out the way, this isn’t your business.”
“Dude, that’s Thor’s daughter.” one of the bullies realized.
“So? I’m not afraid of her.”
Hannah looked back at the boy behind her. “You okay?” she whispered.
He nodded.
The lead bully took advantage and swung at her but she grabbed his arm, surprising him. “Bitch, please.” she scoffed, rolling her eyes. She twisted his arm behind his back and stepped behind his knee, forcing him to the ground. He cried out in pain.
“Hurt this boy again and I’ll break your wrists? Got it?”
They nodded and she let go, shoving him with her foot. They scrambled away like cowards with tails under their legs. She had to admit it felt good finally using some of the techniques her uncle has taught her.
She turned to face him. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you. What’s your name? I’m Hannah.”
“Zander.”
“Hey, Zander. Why were they teasing you?”
“I’m blind.”
“Oh.”
“Thanks for saving me. You didn’t have to.”
“I know.” She smiled. He smiled back, sensing he was no longer in any danger. The boy looked so helpless. She had to do something. He had messy black hair and freckles dusted across his cheeks and nose. His lashes were a mile long. His eyes were a milky white but they almost glowed. He was rather skinny and wore ragged clothes.
“I was just about to go home and have dinner. Care to join?” She paused. “Maybe after a bath?”
“W-why are you being nice to me?” His voice was frail and it broke her heart.
“Because being mean doesn’t help anybody. C’mon.” She offered him her hand again and he hesitated. She was the only person he knew that showed him any kindness. Her hand felt soft and smooth as his fingers curled around her own. That moment he swore his loyalty to her. She saved his life and one day he swore to save hers.

“Looks like you lost,” I dictated as I dragged him down the stairs to the dungeons. My entire body felt like it was on fire, but it didn’t stop the shiver from running down my spine at the thought of what he was capable of. Ezra showed us something none of us could’ve expected. He was skilled in ways that we were unprepared for, ways I didn’t even know could exist. I still trembled at the thought of my slain comrades-members of Odin’s kingsguard-rising and fighting against us. The more people of ours Ezra killed, the more people he had fighting for him. The battle was unfair and horrific, but we still won even after members of the kingsguard forced Odin away from the situation. Ezra had surrendered after we had gotten him onto his knees. My sword had been pressed against his throat, and all I needed to do was give it one swift motion to kill him. I couldn’t, though.
There was something that kept me from killing him, but I had no idea what it was. Maybe it was the familiarity in those green eyes or the endless knowledge he seemed to have about me. Still, my decision to keep him alive could be useful in the future of Asgard. He was another enemy who would be a prisoner in the dungeons, a man we could retrieve information from. He snickered at me, “you may have won, but what did it cost you?” he asked, glancing down at the wound on my abdomen.
I ignored his comment, feeling the pain radiating from the wound. During the battle, he had taken a swing at Ephinea, a blow I did my best to protect her from. I had pushed her back and tried to put as much distance between him and I as possible, but it wasn’t enough. My sword blocked his axe, and while I struggled to disarm him, I was unaware of the dagger he pulled out until he buried it in my abdomen. The dagger cut right through my training armor-which had not been suitable for battle-and pierced into my flesh. I had not yet seen it, but a piece of me was convinced it was nothing while the rational part of myself was sure it was something much more than I was prepared to deal with. If I could still walk, I was fine.
Behind Ezra and I were the remaining members of the kingsguard who did not sustain significant injuries as well along with Ephinea, Sif, and the warriors three. Thor had taken to the throne room with his father to discuss what would come next. Everyone in the dungeons was silent when they saw the crowd of warriors that it took to secure the newest prisoner. They watched us in a stunned silence, including Loki. I avoided all eye contact with the God of Mischief, still hurt by his actions an entire week ago. While I wished for an empty cell anywhere else in the dungeons, the only free one was directly across from Loki’s, which would undoubtedly cause me to worry much more than I should have. The cells were practically impenetrable, and even if Ezra managed to break free of his cell, there would be no real reason for him to go after Loki.
As we stood in front of his cell, he turned to face me as I spoke, “this is gonna be your new home. I don’t know where you came from or what you knew before this, but you won’t be going back there anytime soon. You said you haven’t seen a sunrise for more than 300 years?” I asked, and he nodded his head, a grin forming on his lips in anticipation for what I was about to say, “well, be prepared to wait another 300 because you aren’t getting out of here for a long time,” I growled, glaring up at him and his apathetic expression. It was as if he had no remorse at all for the lives he had taken, like the entire battle before this meant nothing to him. His reaction was sickening.
He cocked one of his thick eyebrows, “you have a fire within you that you try to ignore, pet, but you can’t hide it from me,” he replied before lunging forward and attacking my lips with his. It shocked me at first, but I leaned into it after a moment, realizing that I could use it to my advantage. Everyone around us who was there to ensure his safe transportation to his cell was left in shock, but they always knew that I had a plan. My lips molded together with his thick ones, and while I was disgusted to be kissing the man who just killed so many of my people, I knew that this was going to work out in my favor. While Ezra was distracted by the kiss, I eased one of my daggers from its sheath at my side and reached behind him before sinking it into his lower back.
He sucked in a sharp breath, disconnecting our lips. His face distorted in pain, and his chest rumbled as I pulled the dagger from his body, twisting it in the process. Once it was out, I dropped it on the ground behind him and reached into the small pouch on my belt to pull out one of the tracking devices I always carried with me. In one swift motion, I shoved two of my fingers into the wound to deposit the tracking device as deeply as possible. He grunted and twisted to break free of my grasp, but I would not release him. I released the tracking device once I was sure it was embedded deep enough that he could not feel it and dig it out on his own. When I finally removed my fingers, I rested my hand against his wound and focused all of my energy on transferring it over to myself. That was the one downfall of my healing power. I was unable to heal someone without transferring their wounds onto myself. While he was not worthy of my help, I couldn’t leave the wound open for fear that he would just pull the device out. Now, it he wanted to take it out, he would have to cut himself open and dig for it.
As the wound transferred to myself, I gritted my teeth, but nothing could compare to the wound on my abdomen. It was like if one had been stabbed by Surtur himself, a scraped knee could never compare to it, so the pain was far more tolerable. Once I finished healing his wound, I glared up at him, “you’re going to have a lot of time to think while you’re down here, and that’s all you get to do. If you move, I’ll know about it. If you speak, I’ll know about it. If you have any thoughts about breaking out of your cell, I will know about it. I didn’t kill you today because I believe in second chances. If you fail to cooperate or if you become a threat to anyone I know or love, I will not hesitate to kill you,” I growled at him.
He nodded his head, “my execution would be against the Allfather’s wishes. It’s a beautiful sentiment-it truly is-but...tell me, pet, how will you protect the two people you love most when one is here and one is on Midgard?” he asked, referencing her once more.
My eyes widened, and he smirked at the look of dread that was clear on my face. I saw my reflection in his eyes and saw a girl who had everything to lose, someone who had lost so much already. As my protective instincts kicked in, I grew furious that he even put their safety in question. I pulled my fist back and landed a hard punch against his cheek. When his head snapped to the side to accommodate the blow, I swiped his feet out from under him to bring him down to the ground. As he caught himself on his knees, I pulled out my other dagger and pressed it against his throat with one hand while I grabbed a fistful of his hair with the other. I squatted down to be at his level, “say it again,” I growled.
He smirked, “and what if I did? What if I threatened them again?” he asked, challenging me, “would you kill me, an unarmed man on his knees? Would you take my life the same way your enemies took your friends life on Vanaheim? You and I both know that you don’t have what it takes,” he hissed, bringing up Hjalmar. My chest tightened, “the only way to save the ones you love so dearly is to accept your destiny, to accept what you’re truly meant to be.”
I narrowed my eyes at him, “and what is that?”
“A god,” he answered with a smile as he leaned into my blade against his throat, “just like me.”
I shook my head, my entire body trembling as anger and rage built up in my chest, “I am nothing like you,” I growled, furious that he would even try to compare the two of us. He fought and killed so many of my people and raised them back to be monsters. What was it for? I only fought when it needed to be done. I didn’t seek out confrontation. I fought, and even killed, the few who put the lives of the many at stake, and it always sat with me. The eyes of my victims never left my mind, for I was aware that I had taken someone’s loved one away from them. Ezra showed in the short time I knew him that he was nothing like that. He killed without remorse, and I saw no conflict in his eyes once it was over. We were nothing alike.
He chuckled, “that’s where you’re wrong, pet. You and I are more alike than you know, and that’s how I know, without the shadow of a doubt, that you’ll lose both of them in time,” he said, and my heart felt like it would fall through the floor. How did he know all of my deepest and darkest fears? That was always the one thing that scared me the most: losing the ones I loved. Of course, it was the fear of so many people, but he was able to pull up the two people I cared for more than anything else and use their safety against me, “it’s in your nature. You’ll always lose,” he added.
My chest rose and fell as I struggled to find air. It felt like his threats were taking the air from my lungs, and I felt like I would suffocate. I saw how big a threat he was, but we managed to bring him down together. I didn’t want to imagine what Cul’s entire army could do. Everything had been thrown at us so quickly, as we had no knowledge of who Cul was or that Odin even had an older brother at all. Everything that happened that day just made me feel uncertain of everything. Still, I couldn’t show Ezra that, “and what about you? You’re the man who kneels before me with my dagger against his throat. You lost,” I hissed.
“You’ll need me soon enough,” he remarked, gesturing down to the stab wound on my abdomen that throbbed with a pain I never experienced before. The wound hurt badly enough that it felt like I would be sick from the pain. I had been stabbed before, and the wounds never felt quite like that. Perhaps, it had just been too long, and I forgot the sensation. I shook the thoughts from my mind and focused on him once more as he continued, “and the moment you come to me, begging for my help, is the moment when you’ll finally realize that you are the one who has lost,” he sneered, his eyes cutting right through me. It was like he could see every weakness and insecurity I had.
“If you or anyone else tries hurt the people I care for, you won’t be able to find shelter from the storm I unleash. You don’t want to make me an enemy,” I threatened him.
He shook his head as if he was disappointed in me, and I furrowed my eyebrows. When his eyes finally met mine once more, he snickered to himself, “you speak like a warrior, but there is no true weight in your words. I know-as well as you do-that you would never pose a threat to the one thing you believe in more than anything else: Life. That’s why I know you won’t kill me. I’m not afraid of you,” he stated, nonchalantly as he leaned into the blade, hard enough to draw blood.
I stood up, sheathing my dagger, before pulling him up onto his feet. He stood much taller than me, but I didn’t feel small in that moment. Even though I was insecure about what would come next, I couldn’t show my fears to the man who was threatening the lives of the people I loved. I needed to be strong, or he would take advantage of my weaknesses. I grabbed a fistfull of his hair and pulled his head down to mine, maintaining eye contact the entire time, “you aren’t afraid of me,” I hissed before leaning in to his ear, “but you should be,” I whispered the line I had been told only once before. It had shaken me to the very core when it was said to me, but I felt powerful now that I was on the other end. My voice was low enough so that only he could hear me, and once I finished, I pulled away from him and shoved him into his cell. Ephinea activated the cell wall before he was even able to regain his balance. I couldn’t help the smile as I watched him struggle to not fall onto his face, but the sharp pain in my abdomen cut that short.
Not wanting to waste anymore time on him, I turned to face the members of the Kingsguard. They were some of the most well-trained warriors Asgard had to offer, so much so that they were trusted with protecting the Allfather himself. The kingsguard lined the halls of the palace at all times of the day and night, and they stood guard over the dungeons as well. I picked up my blood-covered dagger that I had dropped on the floor moments prior and lowered it back into its sheath. I pointed over at Ezra but stayed focused on the warriors before me, “I want two guards posted outside his cell every second of every day. I never want him left unsupervised, and if he is, you’re going to wish that you experienced the Allfather’s wrath instead of mine,” I threatened, feeling my unchecked fury rising further and further in my chest. I surprised myself at the harsh tone of my voice, but I didn’t change it, “if he shows any signs of agitation, I want to know about it. If he takes one step out of line, I want to know about it. If he breathes offbeat, I want to know about it. I want every detail of his existence to be monitored while he’s down here. I want nothing to go unnoticed. If he speaks out of line, I want to know what he said and when he said it. Do you understand?”
I saw the startled expression on every face of the men before me. I had always been known for my calm and collected nature, and the only time I ever broke away from that was when I was in battle. Even then, I had never been so ruthless, especially never with them. They all nodded in agreement to my orders, but one of the guards stepped forward, his eyes just as confused as the rest, “I mean you no offense when I ask this, but...what would you do about it, my lady?”
As I brushed past all of them, needing to take my place with Thor and Odin to discuss our next moves, I answered his question, “I’ll kill him.”
Before I could make it very far at all, Ezra yelled after me, “good luck, pet. I take pity on you for what is about to come,” he shouted, that booming voice echoing throughout the silent dungeons. It was as if every prisoner stood completely still as I walked by-all but one. As I walked past Loki’s cell, I stared straight ahead, refusing to even look his way, still hurt by what transpired between us a week prior. It broke my heart to ignore him that way, but I had to focus on the safety of the Nine Realms. A piece of it was also to protect him. If there was a chance I could convince Ezra that I no longer cared for Loki, that Loki wasn’t a weakness of mine that he could exploit, I was going to take it. It was the best way to protect Loki at that point.
As I walked past his cell, he banged on the wall, yelling my name and trying to attract my attention, but I still didn’t give in. I blinked away the tears in my eyes, my heart shattering as I had to look the other way once more. I did that before, and I couldn’t believe I was doing it again. I was still hurt and angry at him for what he said when I visited him that night, but I could never stay mad at him for too long, not over trivial things like that. Even as I ascended the stairs, I could still hear his pained voice calling my name. My ears began ringing, and the world around me seemed unsteady. When I reached the last few stairs, the wound on my abdomen sent a piercing pain through my entire body, and I jolted forward to accommodate the sudden and intense pain. If Loki had seen me fall as I had in that moment, he would’ve laughed at me before falling down with me, not wanting me to feel isolation and embarrassment. I coughed, and the fleeting thoughts of my love were pushed to the side as I tasted the blood in my mouth. I swallowed it back just as the guards ran over to me to help me up, just like Loki would have done.
*Loki’s POV*
I felt the immeasurable pain that she was experiencing, and I couldn’t help but feel like there was something seriously wrong. That was one of the things that never stopped for me, no matter how deep my madness became. She was still there, an untouched and untainted beauty among the raging wildfire that was my mind. I could always feel her pain, her suffering, her joy, and her love. I could feel every emotion and every ounce of physical pain, which Thanos used to his advantage. While it killed me inside to know that she was hurting, it let me know that she was still alive, wherever she was. This sensation was something new, though. I could barely stand due to the pain in my abdomen. Even when she had transferred his wound onto herself, it couldn’t hold a candle to the pain I began experiencing no long before.
Everyone began filing out of the dungeons aside from the two guards Eva demanded always stand watch over the new prisoner. I had never seen Eva deal with anyone quite like that, but he must’ve made her feel something otherworldly to pull out that side of her. Watching it was exhilarating in a way that I never would’ve expected. I could feel the anger and pain coursing through her veins every moment she stood before him, but I could also feel her conflict. When he mentioned two people-one here and one on Midgard-I found myself trying to piece together who it could be. Perhaps he was speaking about Aaldir or Thor. I was certain she cared little for me after what I did the last time we saw each other. The unnamed person on Earth was what I tried to piece together first, though. Was it Tony Stark? I noticed that the two of them had quite the connection when I was around them on Midgard. What if it was the Soldier? The two of them shared similar beliefs, and he had protected her from near death quite a few times.
When another piercing pain erupted in my abdomen, I gritted my teeth and grunted, reaching for the tender spot. As I tried to breathe through the pain, I heard his laughter from the cell diagonal to mine, “you must be Loki!” he smiled, amused at my pain. I knew that madness well, well enough to know that it was not all his own. Someone had taken advantage of a weakness and used it against him. A small part of me felt empathy for him, but I couldn’t help but think of how he must’ve hurt Eva. As I glared up at him, he cocked his head to the side, “I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m a pretty big fan because of what you did on Midgard-you know, attempting to kill everyone who wouldn’t blindly follow your rule. I have to say that it was a bold move for the unloved son of a false king,” he barked before taking a deep breath and calming his nerves, “I’m Ezra Culson, the new bane of Eva’s existence. You’ve been replaced.”
“What did you do to her?” I yelled, anxious to know what had transpired to bring about a pain like this. Before Ezra pointed out the wound on her abdomen, it was barely noticeable, especially since she showed little signs of discomfort while she was in the dungeons. Still, shortly before she came down to the dungeons, I had felt the intense pain, and I knew she had been stabbed. This sensation, however, was so different than before. When we were on Midgard, I...she had been stabbed. That was nothing like this. I grunted as I stood up straight, trying to ignore the burning sensation.
Ezra shook his head, a hint of guilt in his eyes that didn’t seem completely genuine, “I didn’t come here to fight-not today, anyway-but when Odin refused to my terms and your brother refused my offer to take Eva off your hands, I had no choice. She got in the way,” he said, nonchalantly as he shrugged it off like it was nothing. Even the guards outside of his cell were disturbed. Everyone in Asgard knew Eva, and everyone knew that she was the embodiment of all that was good and light in this world. Ezra acted as if his action of attacking her was nothing serious, like attacking her wasn’t like he was attacking the very fabric of life itself. During my stunned silence, he continued to speak, “let’s just say that you’re not the only one who has it out for Odin.”
“I couldn’t care less about him. You hurt her!” I snapped, slamming my fist against the cell wall and startling the guards and the other prisoners within the dungeons. Ezra would have a hard time in the dungeons because no matter how much the other prisoners hated Odin and Asgard, they could not bring themselves to even speak unkindly of Eva. The longer the prisoners stayed in the dungeons, the more they grew accustomed to her singing, and because Eva showed the planet so much love and kindness, everyone who resided here could feel her energy coursing through them. Her connection to the world and life was incredible. As my chest tightened, I glared at him, “you hurt her, and I’m going to kill you for that,” I growled in a low voice.
He shrugged it off again, “collateral damage,” he remarked, “it’s nothing that can’t be undone. When she gives in and leaves with me, which she will, I’ll heal her, and we’ll be on our way.”
“She’s not going anywhere with you!” I yelled once more, realizing that he was doing exactly what he wanted to do, and I was allowing it to happen. He was crawling right under my skin, and I couldn’t stop it. It was like Thanos all over again. Ezra just knew my weakness, and he was going to exploit it. He would try to break me, but I wouldn’t lose Eva again, and that was what kept me from falling back into the comfort of my own darkness.
He chuckled, “I have a better claim to her even as an outsider, or did you forget?” he asked, and my eyes widened as it felt like my chest would completely cave in. He couldn’t have been referencing that moment, but it wouldn’t surprise me with all that he knew about Eva and myself. A part of me wished to know where he acquired this information, but the part that took hold of me in that moment was still the nervous and insecure man I was before I fell from the Bifrost, before I pushed Eva out of my life, before I realized that I would never truly be my father’s son. I could still remember Odin’s words as if our conversation was happening that very moment:
“A girl who could pass as a princess even without a prince would be better suited for Thor, and I will not entertain these childish games any longer!”
It was the first moment in my life that I felt utterly hopeless. All that I had done up until that moment seemed like it was in vain. I had loved Eva, and she loved me. When she forced me to relive that memory in the dream, I couldn’t help but associate it with the conversation that followed with my father. He had been the one to pull me from our beautiful moment, our last beautiful moment. Our conversation was meant to open the doors for millions of other beautiful moments, but he slammed those doors in my face, telling me that I would never be worthy enough for Eva, that she was being saved for Thor. It was the beginning of my downfall, and she was the one who was hurt most from it.
While my chest heaved, I imagined ripping his tongue from his throat. I imagined slitting his throat open while he spoke of how Eva was nothing more than “collateral damage.” I imagined his blood on my hands as I tore him apart for what he did to her and for what he tried to do to me. I knew that all he had to do was exploit my weakness, and he would be able to turn me against her. Something in me was broken, and he wanted to toy around with it, “speak one more word, and you’ll wish for death when you see what I do to you,” I threatened, narrowing my eyes at him and realizing just how familiar they looked, like I had seen them a thousand times before. Green...like the color of spring.
He chuckled, sitting on the floor and tucking his legs under himself. It seemed as if he would let my comment roll off his back, but that was the opposite of what he did. Instead, he brought up the one thing I cared about more than anything else. Eva. He grinned, madness in his eyes, “threaten me again, and you’ll wish for death when you see what I do to her.”
Without warning, my mind felt like it was being torn apart, like the broken edges were being chipped away at. As I fell to the floor in a massive pain radiating from the ghost wound on my abdomen and the sudden and intense pain in my own mind, I gritted my teeth and groaned loudly. I could remember her eyes that day, the day I hurt her more than I could ever forgive myself for. I had expected her to look at me like I was a monster, like I was her enemy. However, she didn’t. She spoke my name with fear in her eyes and sorrow in her voice. It was my first moment of clarity in so long, but it was also my greatest moment of weakness and tragedy because I hurt the one thing I wished to protect: my friend, my princess, my love.
My Eva.

<3 urwarriorangel’s writing challenge <3
hello my darling angels! i have started a writing challenge because i want to read more of what you write. i’m calling this a challenge because that’s what i’ve read others call it? rules are listed below! all submissions will be read by yours truly and (if they follow the p basic rules) i will post them all on a masterlist! i will reblog them and give you feedback because that’s what should happen regardless and also i love you guys! (gif not mine!)
Tumblr media
rules
*no rape/incest/underage sex/etc.
*if you choose to write smut, you must be 18+!!! the characters you’re writing for must be 18+!!
*must be character x reader! you can write for multiple characters, but it still must be a reader insert!
*it’s first come first serve for characters, meaning there are character limits. multiple people can write for the same character, but they are capped. so please message me as soon as you see a character you want to write for!
*only one prompt per fic! (bonus points if you use any of my original prompts lol!) (also prompts can only be used once)
*triggers must be tagged. if there are any triggers in your fic, you must have a trigger warning. i cannot emphasize this enough.
*fic should be at least 500 words, if it’s longer (which please make it as long as you’d like!) you have to add a ‘read more’
*must tag me in the fic and use # urwarriorangelwritingchallenge <3
*fic should be a new original, not an old piece being resubmitted or a part of an already existing series. (you can write a series for this challenge if you’d like!)
*bonus points if you’re a poc!writer with a poc!reader <3 <3 <3

~the masterlist will be posted on august 13th! (if this goes well aka if people participate i would love to do this more often!)~
categories allowed:
anything your heart desires. if you’re going to write fluff please keep it compelling! add a few different styles together! give me some angst, some smut. make it a mystery! i mean absolutely no disrespect to those who write/read only fluff, but personally i find fluff a little more fun when it’s got multiple components! (if you write only fluff, please go ahead and write fluff! i will read it and i’m sure i’ll love it! these are just my personal preferences!)
i love aus very much, so please don’t shy away from them!

Part 12 - Bullying and Threatening...
Tumblr media
No one's POV....
After 20 minutes you heard that Loki became King, for Odin. So you better say he is the representation for King Odin. You took the time and ran, after these news, to Heimdall. You needed answers, to know a little more of Loki. He said he got bullied, but not that he wasn't loved at all. You need to have informations about that. You teleported to Heimdall, he already waited for you.
"Luciella, it's nice to see you. I see, you want me to tell you more about Loki's past. Correct ?"
"Like always...you got me, my old friend. He hides some Details from me and I don't think he would tell me."
"You are correct. What do you wish to know ?"
"Everything in the house of Odin. What happened after I was gone, to Loki and the others relations to them ?"
"Well... Prince Loki didn't quite believe Odin that you were dead, for 50 years. He always was hot on his Father's tail, but never found you or any hint, that you are still alive. He went more to a blank page. He caused more Mischief, than before, and some times it went really too far. Thor was worthy of the hammer Mjolnir, while Loki became a Master in Magic. Thor separated from his Brother, because he was ashamed, that he wasn't powerful and worthy of Mjolnir. Loki got left behind in the dark. He always tried to beat Thor in duals, tuniers and battles, he always failed. He tried to impress King Odin, to make him proud, but Odin was never showing that he was proud. Loki thinks Odin hates him, but actually, Odin loves him. He just doesn't show that much. The only one who is always there for Prince Loki is Queen Frigga. The friends, Thor had made, made fun of Loki and Thor didn't even do anything. He let them and now Loki is...like this.", Heimdall told you.
You were shocked. How could Thor ? He always promised you to watch over Loki and care for him ! What an ass...
"Oh and Loki always ended up into arguments with Odin and Thor. He then always ran somewhere for the rest of the whole day.", he added.
"Wow...What assholes...Sorry for my bad language, but...HOW THE, FUCKING, BLOODY, SHITTY HELL, COULD THEY ?!"
Heimdall flinched at your sudden outburst.
"Sorry Heimdall...", you said, calmer.
"It's okay. Well...Odin tried to find you for 30 years... As he realized that Prince Loki drifted more and more to the isolation and the murders didn't stop... But he never found you, and with time... he gave up on ever finding you. Banishing you, without your side of the story, was wrong and Odin realized that with time. After 5 years of your banishment, he went looking for you, even in Jotunheim, but you weren't there. So, where were you ?"
"I... Well.... I was on a spaceship... imprisoned.... in chains... For 2 years and then trained."
"What is a 'Spaceship' ?"
"Oh... Umm.. Well... These are like boats, just... They dont just have a bottom, they also have, like houses, Rooms, windows and a roof. It got so built, that you can't even open the windows. The windows are just for looking out into space and the ship flies there, never falling down. No air from space comes inside. And if you land on one of the planets, realms, whatever... some kind of door opens and you can go outside and inside the spaceship..."
"Ah... I get it. These big things, which look almost like an meteor..."
"Yes ! Right like these !"
Heimdall chuckled. Then he suddenly stopped and went to serious again.
"I am sorry, that you got imprisoned and we didn't save you, I tried to find you, but I didn't saw you anywhere... I was blind and couldn't help... I am sorry..."
"It's okay... I knew that you could never find me... the ship had some kind of spell, I couldn't even contact you... The spell blocked that ability..."
"I feel bad, that we let that happen..."
"You don't need to. I thank you for these informations. I also thank you for banishing me actually...Because I learned very much new things, Loki never can learn here. I heard stories in Jotunheim from Laufey, I never thought were true, or even so... heartbreaking. I never saw a Frost Giant cry... Laufey did. I know history, you all would never believe me. And for these things... I thank you.", you said smiling a little.
Heimdall smiled back. I hugged him.
"Sometimes... bad decisions need to be done, to see the truth. Even the wrong things, can some times be a step in the right direction. Never forget that, Heimdall, you hear ?", you said.
"I heard. And I will remember it forever...", he answered.
You pulled away, said goodbye and teleported away. You were in the throne room and saw Loki sitting on the throne, he looked perfect there. He didn't see you, you stepped closer until he saw you, you bowed to him.
"My new King Loki..."
"Luciella...stand up. You don' need to bow to me, you are my friend. No matter what.", Loki told you.
You got up and saw him standing before the throne. You smiled and he smiled back. He went down the stairs and you went to his direction too. After you were just almost 5 steps apart, you ran to him and hugged him. He hugged back.
"We need to talk tonight, Mischief - boy. In your Chambers. I will wait for you.", you whispered in his ear.
You both pulled away. He looked at you with confusion all over his face.
"What ?", you asked him.
"Mischief - boy ? It's a long time ago, that you called me like that. I missed it. About what do you want to talk with me tonight ?", he asked you.
"You will see, Loki. Just... come tonight in your Chambers and we talk."
Before he said something else, you shushed him.
"Go to your throne and make an dramatic appearence. I believe, the warriors three and Lady Sif are on their way."
Loki smiled at you, nodded and went back to his throne. He sat down and patted on his right of the throne side, for you to stand next to him. You did. Then you heard footsteps. They came inside. They all looked down on the ground, Sif was the first one to step inside and speak.
"My King, we must speak with you urgently."
As they all looked up they didn't saw Odin, no, they saw Loki.
"My...friends.", Loki said.
"Where's Odin ?", Fandral asked Loki.
They all stepped closer in a hurry.
"Father has fallen into the Odinsleep. Mother fears he may never awaken again.", he answered.
"We would speak with her.", Sif said.
"She has refused to leave my Father's bedside. You can bring your urgent matter to me.", he said and stood up, clinging the staff on the ground.
"Your King.", he said.
They looked at him shocked, but bowed to him.
"My king, we would ask that you end Thor's banishment.", Sif said.
Loki looked at them in disbelief. Then at me, then back at them.
'Wow... how can they be so stupid ?' - Loki
'Are they dumb ?!' - You
'I know right ?' - Loki
He smiled a little in humor. He went serious again.
"My first command can not be to undo the Allfather's last.", he said, while walking down the stairs.
"We're on the brink of war with Jotunheim. Our people need a sense of community, and feel safe in these difficult times. All of us must stand together.", he continued.
Sif was frowning at him and his speech, Loki was down the stairs and clinged the staff down again.
"For the good of Asgard.", Loki said at last.
Sif couldn't hold it anymore. She stood up and wanted to punch his face. Fandral and Hogun held her back.
"Yes, of course.", Fandral said.
"Good, then you await for my word.", Loki said.
"If I may...", Volstagg said, "beg indulgence of...your Majesty, to perhaps reconsider-", Volstagg almost laughed at him, he got interrupted.
"We are done here.", Loki said.
You stepped down the stairs and said...
"No we aren't, my King. I have a few words on them to share with them, infront of you, can I please ?"
Loki looked at you, confused, but nodded.
"Of course, start.", he said, you grinned at him.
"Thank you, my King. Alright... Lady Sif... I may be in your team, so is Loki, so I would respect his desicions. He isn't a girl and just a warrior. And if you don't control yourself, then I guess I will beat the shit out of you, next time. I like you actually, I really do. But Loki is right. We can't just call Thor back from his banishment. He, like I said before, started this Freakshow. He wanted to start a war between Jotunheim and Asgard and he made it, dragged you with him into Jotunheim, risked your lives, almost killed you with this act, offended King Laufey and me, made me go against Laufey, betrayed his King and insulted Odin in an argument. I don't understand why you still want to help him. And the next time I would be more nice to King Loki. Now I come to you, Fandral... I actually don't have much to say against you, because you actually respect Loki's answer. But that doesn't save you from what I have to say now. When did you thank Loki, for saving your sorry butt ? He killed the Frost Giant, which actually almost stabbed you again and also you made fun of him and I bet this wasn't the only time he saved your ass. Every bet you made fun of him, just like the others here.  For that, I actually should beat your sorry ass, right here, right now. Be glad I don't. Volstagg, you are the worst."
"Why am I the worst here ?", he asked.
"Look at you. Tell me, you dare to make sick, ugly, dumb, lousey puns about Loki, when something doesn't work like it should ? Actually Loki should make fun of you. You are fat like Obelix in a story. You definitely eat like an animal and don't do much. Tell me, guys, how much does he eat per day ?", you asked.
"Maybe 10 plates full of food per day... Always different things on it...", Fandral said.
"Wow... You should be ashamed of yourself... A person, which is obsessed with food. How disgusting. Sorry, but I firstly thought you had some kind of malfunction in your body. I firstly thought we could all be friends, you know... but when I remember what I heard of you, against Loki... I would be ashamed to be your friend... That doesn't mean, that I hate you, but I don't really like you either, for now... I will help you guys still, but not much. And the last Hogun. You don't look like someone who actually does something wrong. I don't have anything to say to you. ....For now.", you finished.
You nodded to Loki, who stared at you, that you have the guts to say that. He got the message and said...
"You can go now. Everything what needed to be said got said and hopefully heard."
They all left and you teleported away, before Loki could talk to you. That was something you would have never done. Why are you so protective over him ?

*Thor:Ragnorok spoilers*
If you haven't seen Thor:Ragnorok yet and dont wanna be spoiled dont read this. I'm just gonna talk about some things that bothered me about the movie and the fan response.
1. Ok. One of the smaller things that bothered me was how when Thor was trying to convice Valkyrie to join him in the Revengers, he was like "ah yeah i hate the monarchy and totally dont wanna be king" to her and she was like "good cuz i hate the monarchy too and don't wanna be a soldier for the crown anymore". Then, when the movie ended someone was like "Here's your throne King!" and he just sat down and started piloting the ship and Valkyrie was right by his side as a soldier. I get them going back to save Asgard, but i was kinda hoping Thor and Valkyrie would say "Great you're all saved now, I'll keep helping you to a new planet, but after that I'm going to Earth and living my life." I really thought the movie would end with Heimdall being elected leader of Asgard or with Loki taking back over. He's a jerk and all, but overall he was a good leader. Maybe they'll resolve this in Infinity War, but that threw me when i sae the movie.
2. I've seen people saying that Valkyrie shouldve ended up with Loki or Thor at the end of the movie and I thought i should add my two cents. First of all, there was (at least to me) no romantic build-up with either sibling. She had more of a relationship with the Hulk and they were adorable, omg. I love them and hope their friendship continues to grow in following movies.
Secondly, the movie takes place over about a week. There is no time for true emotional connection between characters. I don't think Loki is much for love and romance and Thor just got out of a relationship, so this movie wouldn't have been a good time to introduce a new relationship for either. Imo the MCU is too quick to throw their characters into relationships and doesn't do romance well.
Case 1: the infamous Sharon/Cap kiss. You either hate it or love it. I hate it. It was her aunts (aka Caps ex's) funeral for godssake, and she had only really seen him before when she was spying on him, not really the best basis for a relationship.
Case 2: Natasha and Bruce. Again, Natasha had a closer on-screen relationship with Clint as friends, but it was kinda implied that they had more. Then we suddenly find out that Clint is Married and Natasha and Bruce are dating after having little to no interactions that would lead us to think "yeah i can see that working".
The MCU just likes to throw couples together without showing us any real work and i would rather see Thor and Valkyries relationship grow over time. (yeah i see Thor/Valkyrie being more likely than Valkyrie/Loki). I want actual romancing and the little things that come with flirting/dating someone new.

"Lady y/n, Thank you very much for the dance. I shall find you again before the night is through to have another dance." He bowed taking your hand and kissing it.
"That would be a pleasure Sir Fandral. I shall save one for you." You curtised to him and turning to walk off. Before you knew it you had been swept up by yet another guest spinning you around the dance floor causing you to loose track of time.
"My Lady, may I have this next dance?" Thors voice boomed next you to causing you to smile.
"Of course you may, you did promise me at least one tonight." You took his hand and let him lead you across the floor where the crowd opened up leaving the dance floor open for you and the prince. You smiled as he wrapped his arm around your waist pulling you closer to him.
Loki huffed next to his mother and rolled his eyes. "Honestly, the way he looks at her."
"Loki Odinson!" His mother swatted at his arm. "That is your brother out there simply dancing with a good friend, if you are so jealous then why dont you go out there and dance with her?"
"I am not jealous of Thor." He said.
"You could have fooled me. The way you have been watching her all night? The way you act around her? You act more like yourself, and dont you tell me other wise. You would give that girl the moon and stars if she asked and you know it." Hearing his mother say it out lound stund Loki, sure hos brother had dropped hints and asked him multiple times about the two of you but all Loki could normally do was laugh about it.
"She doesnt feel the same mother. How could she? I am second best, I am not the one that will take the throne one day." He sighed looking at Frigga.
"Shut up Loki. You are not second best. You are my son. And not all girls want the future king, they dont wamt the crown or the popularity that it brings. Beleive it or not some girls just want to love and be loved. I see the way she looks at you with love and passion, you hung the moon for that girl at a young age and she will always beleive that. Go dance with her before I call you both out." Frigga gave him a gentle nudge forward shooing him away.
As Loki walked to were you and Thor were dancing his stomach was flipping and he was straightening out his top as best as he could. Walking up he tapped Thor on the shoulder causing his brother to turn around.
"May I cut in Lady y/n and possibly save you a few toes from being stepped on?" He took notice of how your face lite up and you eagerly nodded smiling he returned the smile and offered you his hand.
"We shall finish another time lady y/n." Thor bowed walking away.
"I was expecting to see you sooned Loki." You smiled up at him as you placed one arm around his neck and placing you other hand on his chest.
"I was talking with mother about some things." He placed his arm around your waist pulling you close just like the others had done but with him you felt more at ease like you belonged there in his arms, more protected, no one would dare cut in as long as you was right there with Loki and you liked that. He took his free hand and tucked a peice of your hair that has fallen down back behind your ear before placing his hand over yours on his chest. To others around you this was normal you and Loki behavior but to the two of you there was something diffrent settling between you.
"You look absolutly beautiful tonight y/n, my colors look absolutly amazing on you." He smiled looking you dead in the eyes. He took his hand and traced the sleeve down to your bare arm. Your breath caught as you meet his eyes.
"And you, my prince of mischief, look just as stunning." You grinned.
"Darling I always look good." He laughed cauing you to giggle. "I do tend to look just a little bit better though when you are around." It slipped out before he could even think.
"What?" Your mouth dropped slightly.
"Well this has seemed to make things slightly awkward." He said giving you a slightly forced smile. You pulled him tighter to you almost forcing him to look in your eyes.
"Dont try to joke your way out of that little comment Loki."
"Y/n, I think I'm in love, with you." He leaned in slightly looking you right in the eyes.
You let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank the Norns, I think I'm in love with you too Loki Odinson." You pulled him the rest of the way toward you so that your lips could finally meet after years of dreaming of this moment. His lips were soft and welcoming, they felt like what you had always imagined and you never wanted to stop.
"Ah, see mother. Harmless tricks and small little fibs. I knew they would fall into each others arms before the end of the night. Everything is as it should be." Thor gave a big smile turning to his mother.
"Well you weren't the only one planting seeds tonight." Frigga laughed at the look on Thors face as it dropped. "Me and Loki had a wonderful heart to heart while you danced with her."
You pulled away from Loki and placed you head under his chin as he laced his fingers together behind you. "Would it ruin the moment if I told you I had nothing to do with the outfit choice tonight?" You asked looking up at him.
"No my dove it wouldnt, though I must ask, who picked it out." He laughed.
"Dont ask me why but your brother had it delivered to my room this afternoon with shoes." You could see the wheels turning in his head.
"Now may I ask you something with out sounding crazy?" He asked.
"Of course Loki."
"Fandral, did he ask to escort you tonight?"
"Norns no! Do not get me wrong, he is a very nice man but I would not have came with him tonight. Who told you that?". Loki turned away from you facing toward Thor and Frigga. You followed his gaze.
"Oh dear my eldest. It seems as if you have been found out." Frigga simply stated taking a sip of her wine as she watched the two of you walk thier way.
Thors eye widened as he took a few steps back. "Mother, what would be the plan?"
"I warned you that you was playing with fire when it came to those two. Loki and y/n are bad enough seprate when it comes to tricks, them together though? Much worst." She took another sip from her glass. "Dont forget that they are doing some redecorating in the west wing so that is completly blocked off." Thor kissed Friggas cheek mumbling a thank you amd turning to leave right as you amd Loki were walking up the steps.
"Mother-"
"West wing is beimg redone so hes not there. He wont leave the castle, not tonight at least, but I do remember him turning to the right as he ran out." Lol I took off after his brother.
"So my dear? The mystery man you had mentioned so many time turned out to be my son? I dont know if I should be hurt or thankful that he has someone like you to keep him calm." She smiled at you.
You blusjed before looking back at her. "Yes, Allmother. Please forgive me for not tellimg you the truth."
"All is fine, of course you will have to finish your teachings since you will one day be a princess of Asguard." She smiled at you.
"Of course Allmother you smile taking a few steps back. If you will please excuse me, I must go find your sons so that Loki doesnt kill Thor." You laughed turning to run in the direction the two princes had ran.

To Hell and back
Loki fic
Chapter 2: Shatter the fantasy
_____
Previous Chapter: 1
_____
 “Wake up, wake up.”
The warm hands at the side of her face softly worked its’ comfort to make her open her tearing eyes. It could have been a trick but she would make sure she was safe. There were things she did remember that helped her deduce that she was still in trouble, no matter how sweet his voice sounded.
“Immie? Look at me, honey.”
The voice, his was distorted but she knew what wasn’t real.
“This isn’t real. Wake up!”
Her ears popped as something sent a painful chill to skin. Her cheek stung but it was her neck that hurt the worst with the force of his hand.
“Now, wench! Wake!”
His slap made her open her eyes as the colors were forced away into new shapes. Her body jolted as she rolled to her side. She locked eyes with the gray skinned man as he looked to the glimmering closures around him. Her own eyes blurred and she feared that whatever magic helping her was wearing off.
“Fear not, wench. This is only his memory. It is fighting to take shape so that we give in.”
“Whose?”
“I was shaken from my own. You seemed to understand your dream was not reality.”
“Yeah. I would know when my neglectful ex being nice to me. Where is everyone else?”
She blinked away her blurriness to the golden wove designs of a prison surrounding them. Monsters hissed and pounded on the structures of their cells to the faceless guards that passed by.
“Nalek.”
“What?”
“My given name is Nalek. I am sorry for my actions and for my distress but you were correct when you suggesting leaving. We need to find whomever this place belongs to.”
“This isn’t August or Roysce.”
“Or that of Emmilette. She doesn’t seem as regal.”
“Loki? That would explain... I don’t know. So we wake him up, then what? We end up in someone else’s memory?”
“I may be mistaken. This place could be crafted from his memories.”
“It’s an illusion.”
“Precisely.”
They turned at the opening of their cell door. There was no chance for them to move as shackles magically attaching to their arms and legs. The guards caught them before they hit the ground. Imogen looked up to the vibration of the guards’ faces.
“We need to get free and find Loki!”
A stray guard swung his gauntlet and almost knocked Nalek unconscious.
“Nalek! Let me go, you pig fuckers!”
“Worry not, child. These are illusions, these are not real.”
“That blood looks like it hurts.”
“We only need to wake and this will all be gone. The injuries as well.”
Imogen fought the guards as they were dragged down majestic halls and through the shouting faceless people of Loki’s mind. They were stopped in front of towering gold doors. One of the guards clamped his metal hand around the back of her neck as she tried to bite back the pain.
“I haven’t exactly been one for pain but we need to find Loki.”
“I concur we may need his strength and any other skill for survival.”
“Where would he be in all this shit?”
The doors creaked opened as they were greeted with the roaring and shouting of the faceless crowd around them. Imogen watched as Nalek tried to put up a fight with his guards as her own dragged her to the bit of golden armor waiting at the top of a throne.
“Oh, you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”
Nalek turned in the direction of her eyes.
“Loki!”
They both fought and kicked, adding to the excitement as the crowd shifted forward to them. Imogen drove her knee up and was able to break free.
“Wake him now, child!”
Imogen pulled her chains behind her out of reach of the guards to not get caught. Her feet thundered under her, fueling her to move faster. He looked confused to the illusion around him but once he woke, she would not see the fitting armor that fit his torso beautifully or the golden crown that sat on his head.
“Loki, you need to wake up!”
Since the dream wasn’t real, he wouldn’t feel any pain from her chains but she had to be strong enough to wake him. A single foot planted into the top step but she was pulled from it and jerked back down from him.
“No! Loki!”
“Stop!”
Loki looked down to Imogen and the men as the guards backed away a fraction. A guard pulled the maiden from his throne and put her with the others at the base of the stairs. He took his time to descend, to take in everything he could of the woman in chains.
“What is your name?”
“Loki, this isn’t real. You need to wake.”
“And you will address me correctly or I will have your head.”
They turned a chuckle as Imogen looked over her shoulder to Nalek’s widened smile.
“Wench, I think he thinks he’s a king! That would explain it!”
Loki sneered his lip and drew his dagger. The point was quickly turned into his darkened neck.
“No! Nalek, stop pissing him off!!”
“Remember what I said? This isn’t real, wench. Don’t worry.”
“Should you worry, old man, if I were to slit your throat? It would not matter but your feminine compatriot would not be as beautiful if she is dead to me.”
He snapped his long fingers and wrapped green silks to her skin. Imogen was stunned as she pulled at her dress, almost not noticing how her hair became clean and dangled in an impossible braid over her shoulder. Loki’s finger lifted the braid and touched her collarbone. Her fingers reached up for the collar as a choker diamonds scratched at her tips but it would still be there when she woke.
She felt as if it had done the same before.
“The hell?”
“The best of the best.”
He had inhaled the skin at her neck as she forced herself to stay calm.
“Look, Wench. I think he fancies you.”
“Shut up,” she hissed under her breath.
Loki raised his dagger higher to Nalek’s throat and nearly pushed the blade into his skin, drawing a fine trickle of blood.
“Another word from you and you will regret it as my kingdom watches.”
“Oh, we’ll see, your grace.”
He launched his head forward and head-butted Loki hard enough to send him back to the floor. Nalek reached for Imogen and dragged her away from the guards and shouting crowd. Imogen saw the glowing green glare of Loki’s eyes.
“It didn’t work, Nalek. Please, tell me you had another plan.”
“Trust me, you won’t like it. If we can’t physical shock him then we need something to pierce his mind.”
Loki waved his hand to summons his guards’ swords to draw at the ready.
“I dont’ give a shit. Just do it!”
“Forgive me, wench. This will hurt.”
Nalek shoved Imogen to the floor and knelt on top of her. She could feel her cheek split from the force of his arm. His knee dug painfully into her back. She felt the breath forced from her chest and her arm twisted up painfully. In the few seconds it took Loki to get to his feet, he saw the gray man pull harder at Imogen’s arm. His heart broke at the tears in her eyes. She shrieked in pain as a bone in her arm snapped. The crowd backed away in terror at the sight of blood staining the beautiful green dress.
Nalek forced her screams from his ears and pulled harder as her fingers stopped moving, only hanging limp. Imogen screamed as her body filled with pain. Tears streamed as more blood dripped from her tearing wounds at her shoulder. The dress was beyond ruined with tearing and blood as well as the diamonds staining with her blood. Nalek could see the faceless crowd begin to disappear. Loki was stiff with fear and anger as the man tore her arm clean away from her body and tossed it to the floor in front of him.
The moment he didn’t accept the limb that fell at his feet, he could feel the ground quake underneath his feet.
Nalek jumped at the crack that shattered the side of the large throne room. Blinding light didn’t bother Loki as he shook off the crumbling image of Asgard as he dove for a pale Imogen. At once, the dress disappeared and her arm was perfectly in place. Her head spun wildly as she failed to look at her missing right arm. She could only look to Loki diving for her as his armor melted away and his illusion fading away fast.
“No!”
They woke at the same time but it was Imogen, then Loki and Nalek. Imogen screamed, clutching the right arm still attached to her. Nalek and August sat her up and tried to stop her hysterical screams. Loki’s eyes looked to a dark beam of light that dimmed and disappeared in a flash. Around them, the mist evaporated to leave crumbled bones and rotting bodies under them.
“Wench! It wasn’t real. You are fine now.”
She stopped rocking and snarled her like a dog to Nalek.
“I’m gonna fucking kill you!”
Loki shook off the last of his dream and felt empty of his powers. Feeling void of the memory and powers, he helped her brother pull her away as his arms encased her completely. With her in his arms, she softened the images around him and in his head.
“Imogen. Please forgive me. I didn’t know. I...”
She held on to Loki and was glad that it wasn’t real after all. He didn’t fight August prying his arms off and comforting his sister in return.
“Imm?”
“I’m fine. You don’t want to know what happened...”
“We really are in Hell.”
“What?”
“Dante’s Inferno. The nine levels of Hell. We were in the second level. Lust.”
“Ew.”
“Not like that. What did you see?”
“Abe before he went to shit. You?”
“Silence. The moment I said hello, everyone swarmed me and wanted to be my friend.”
“Yeah, that would do that. Nalek said it was an illusion.”
“Something to draw us to keep us here. None of it was real.”
She looked to the saddened eyes of Emmilette and Roysce.
“I’d been reunited with Agamotto.”
“I was in my van jamming to my Chili Peppers. I knew the drugs were too good to be true.”
“Wait,” she pushed herself to her feet, disappointed that the dress was gone, “You said this was the second. What was the first?”
“Limbo. The easiest. We need to use caution the further we go.”
“Shit. Why are we here?”
“Don’t know but we still have to get to the others.”
“Wait,” interrupted Roysce, “This is some college shit. Dante’s inferno? Dante Alighieri?”
“But think, he poured out more than ten years of his life to write it. Look around, has he gotten anything wrong so far?”
“Okay, fine. Say this is all true. We passed through two levels with seven more to go, yeah?”
Imogen ran her fingers through her dirty hair. Her chest hurt as it felt like it was burning her, her neck too, but it was just the collar.
“So what level is next?”
“Gluttony,” he pointed to a separate arch of light ahead of them, “We need to be careful. Come on.”
August pulled her further from Loki and lead them all forward to the arch. Imogen closed her hand tightly to her brother’s and walked in silence. She looked over his face, wanting to remember as a memory came back to her.
“You think it will go away again.”
“Meaning I may not see you again. I remember seeing you when you were a baby, Gussy. You were so beautiful before you became a total prick.”
“I thought it was Gassy, you know before we knew I was lactose intolerant.”
Loki was glad to see how Imogen’s arm wrapped around her younger brother. Though he was taller, the strength of her arm made her shelter him from the frigid wind that greeted them as they stepped through the arch. The smell of the freezing rain was worse than the freezing rain itself.
“Holy s-shit!”
She huddled into August and Roysce as the wind blew harder. The leather armor on her felt as if it was doing nothing to protect her from the cold. Everyone around Loki flinched from the harsh cold but it did not bother him. He lifted his hand, feeling nothing but a welcome chill to his skin.
Past the group, he looked to the hundred of thousands of white snowy mounds about their size. He stepped forward to the nearest mound and pressed gently. Flakes of ice fell from the mound, startling him as he looked to the person frozen to death in place. He grabbed Emmilette’s arm and turned for the group.
“Everyone lock arms and walk.”
“We need to find shelter and water.”
“We cannot stop.”
He stepped slowly, watching surely as each of their arms locked together. They marched forward, one foot in front of the other to pass the others that had been frozen to death.
To Loki’s word none of them stopped and looked under the building snow of the other that obviously stopped. Imogen looked over Nalek’s shoulder to the arch that disappeared behind them. She almost forgot about the gray crevices on his face that filled and dripped with freezing rain. He wiped it all away and smiled enough to hurt.
“We will survive this, Wench! On forward.”
She turned in the direction of his shaking pointed finger and used her strength to help pull the group forward. The further they ventured, the more the more the frozen corpses seemed chopped or broken as red chipped ice crunched under their feet. She stopped for a moment as her throat seemed to feel cut off from any extra air. Imogen didn’t feel Emmilette’s feet stomping the collecting ice from her legs to keep her moving.
“I can feel it too, young Imogen. We cannot stop now, we must keep moving.”
The men stopped and pulled her forward as the rain stung worse. August held her up to shield her the best he could manage. Something picked up to her ears as she turned her eyes to the whitened darkness.
“Do you hear that?”
They all could hear the growling in the distance but they did not wish to stop and find out where it came from. Loki saw Nalek stop ahead of him.
“Nalek?”
“We are not alone.”
A pair of red steaming eyes glared to each of them with more to join in around them. The group collected together in fear but only Loki stepped forward.
“Come. Move slowly. We will not die here.”
He felt himself shaking as he ushered the group past the outline of large beasts that licked their long teeth that grew well past their lips. He didn’t look to te pitch black rough skinned things that towered even over him. For once, no one dared to feel the cold as they walked silently in unison, hand tightly gripped to one another. A few of the beasts snapped their jaws to get one in the group to run.
None did.
They howled together, scarring the life from Emmilette but Imogen covered her scream as the pack ran off and attacked the taller mounds of frozen souls behind them.
“Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming,” she forced as she held Emmilette close.
Loki made sure he was the one to stay at the back of the group to see the beasts well behind them feeding. Of the group, he assumed that he was the most capable fighter should something had happened or attacked them.
“Hellhounds,” shouted August as if the winds weren’t trying to silence him.
“What?”
“They’re like Cerberus. Dogs of Hell. They feed on the frozen that didn’t make it.”
Roysce pulled the lapels of his jacket closer as he pressed on. He made sure both women were walking ahead of him.
“I need a burger and some Jameson. Anyone else hungry?”
“That’s the realm.”
“Any suggestion on how to survive this one, Einstein?”
“Mind over matter? Imogen?”
They all stopped as they looked to Emmilette on her own. She shivered and lifted her shaking pointed finger to the colors of Imogen’s dark armor disappearing into the winds.
“Imogen!
They ran, sliding in the slushing mud for her as she dropped to the ground.
“Take Emmilette.”
Roysce and Loki lifted her to her feet and wiped the mud from her. She tried to wrench her hands away but she was too weak. They followed her eyes to the glowing in the distance.
“Another arch. We’re almost there. Come.”
They helped one another through the thick mud and rain until they passed in the arch.
Imogen was the first to stumble to the beautiful patch of green grass as her body’s pain and fatigue slowly disappeared.
“What the hell?”
“Are you okay?”
She rubbed her neck and fixed her clothes.
“I guess. Where are we?”
It was an oasis of sorts. The scene was a flowing watering hole but she had no reason to drink the water. Large smooth rocks lined the water and the breeze was settling to their dirty skin. She looked to the beyond to a canyon with cracking moving rocks below. She stepped back to be safe and away from the edge. Roysce was the first to make the water and wash the mud away from him.
“Great,” laughed August, “There goes the drinking water.”
“The joke’s on you, Genius. I’m not even parched anymore.”
“Me neither.”
“Or me,” concluded Imogen as she looked to the dazzling water behind of her.
She blushed as Loki stripped off his tunic and crouched down in the water. It was nice to see him smile.
“Well, look away if you’re embarrassed.”
Imogen turned herself away to a different part of the watering hole to wash herself. She still couldn’t help herself to his half nakedness.
“We can’t stay. This level is greed.”
“What’s there to be greedy with? There’s water for everyone and space enough to everyone to walk in the canyon. I may just pick a lovely flower for the ladies.”
Roysce splashed Imogen with a great amount of cool water to make her scream. She laughed more as August did the same. He lifted her from her feet and dunked her in the water.
“Loki! Make them stop.”
Loki felt at ease and able to finish the miniscule task before him. He reached for Roysce and flipped him into the water easily. The man was nothing compared to what the Hell Hounds would have been.
“Oh, shit,” coughed Roysce as he stripped off his own shirt, “We got us some white water wrestling. Everyone place your bets! The mortal and Lurch!”
Loki was amused with Roysce, cautious to the twitch in the man’s eye and chuckle as he fought playfully with the young male while everyone else watched. Though focused, his eyes couldn’t stay off of Imogen as she stood next to August. He would have given anything to be next to her.
He smiled to the opportunity as Roysce got to his feet and leaped for Loki. He ducked at the last second and flipped Roysce from his back into August. Both men wrestled in the water, leaving Imogen to herself. Her eyes never left her brother. She wanted to remember everything in case she went back to normal when all was said and done.
There was a hand at her arm that didn’t turn her too quickly as she was met with Loki’s devilish grin.
“Looks like you are left unattended.”
“Nope.”
She grabbed his arm and twisted it until he surprisingly gasped in pain. He chuckled and wrenched himself free. He licked his lips out of habit.
“Come one, man. I’m not scared of you.”
His eyes didn’t stay to the wet tunic from under the armor that stuck beautifully to her skin. Loki raced forward and tackled Imogen into a deeper end of the pond.
“Yield?”
His sides ached from the laughter and his joyful gasps. He wasn’t ready for her legs to wrap around his waist and throw him down into the water. His eyes cleared of water and a welcoming sight that could have only crossed his wildest dreams.
Imogen’s hands pinned down his arms to the mud bed. She leaned over whatever part of his chest she wasn’t sitting on as various drops of water caressed down her skin. Dirty water fell from the ringlets of her hair. He followed each trail up past her chest and the column of her neck. He stopped to see the quick voiding flicker of white to her eyes.
Imogen could see her hands covered in jewels, slowly making their way up a naked chest, skin clear of any blemish or scar, to wring the life from the neck.
“Don’t ever think that I’ll give you what you want.”
He was sure of how to answer her but her low voice was ensnaring. Loki felt his chest and other aspects of himself want more. Imogen felt her voice in the back of her head warn her of the things she was seeing.
Hela nearly got sick on herself as she watched through the shadows. She was hiding under a slaughtered Hellhound in the third realm to heal the slash wounds on her legs. The growing stench of the dying hound comforted her as she played with the rings at her wrist.
She decided it was time but which one to break. Her long nails watched one by one the golden rings as they clanged together. She smiled to the oldest one with a crack already in the gold.
“I chose you,” she smiled as her strong finger broke the gold to pieces from her bloody wrist.
Nalek gasped as his eyes sight was taken from him. No one saw him flail to the ground. Blood ran from his nose as each of his memories came flooding back to him. Emmilette looked to her ruined dress as its innocence was torn and covered in dirt.
Soon she would be free with the others and back again with her love. She was just glad to be alive. Over his shoulder, Nalek pushed himself up from the grass, gasping for air.
“Nalek?”
He met Emmilette’s eyes in horror and knew he had to act quickly. She cupped the side of his face as the sleeve of her dress slid down and confirmed his approaching actions. Nalek forced a smile to keep her distracted.
“I am fine, my dear,” he smiled as he sat on the smoothest rock and cleaned the blood from his nose.
He saw the group frolicking in the waters irresponsibly and knew it would be easier to remain unsuspiciously. The quick look to the appearing ink on his arm made him smile. He knew what he had to do.
“Quite a journey we have had so far.”
“I would say so, Nalek. I thought the Hellhounds would get us.”
“Indeed, at least this would seem a peaceful place to die.”
“Do not say that. We will be free soon enough.”
The squeeze of her hand made her break his heart but it had to be done. It returned to her long white hair as she gathered it over her shoulder. Nalek washed the blood from his hands and gathered a bit of water in his palms. Drops fell back to the pond as he steadied his hands.
“What will you do when we are free?”
Emmilette closed her eyes and smiled blissfully to break his heart worse. She would be missed.
“I will be reunited with my love again and live life as I can. It is all I can do after all we have been through.”
He pushed down his nerves and gathered enough water in his hands.
“Sounds... decided. I hope you find him,” he choked back successfully, “Water? I would hate to have no strength for the rest of the journey.”
Emmilette was hesitant at first.
“You are wise, Nalek. You almost sound like Agamotto. Thank you for your strength to protect us.”
He watched as she arched her head forward and drank from the edge of his hand. He forced himself to remember the last few second of her beautiful life before it was taken from her. Imogen would not have given in so easily but Hell was Hell and people died all the time. At the last second, her skin hued green.
She lifted herself back and slowly looked up to him. Her beautiful smile was forever gone.
“N-Nalek? What have you done?”
He looked to the etching in her arm before it festered away.
A traitor is among you.
The secret would have to die with her as she screamed at the top of her lungs.
Imogen moved away from Loki as she got to her feet.
“Imogen? Did you see something?”
“No. Let it go, Loki.”
He lifted himself from the water and only reached out for a bit of comfort of both of their part. The flicker returned as the perfectly arched hand from her vision wrapped around her neck and held her to a wall. She could feel the fingers squeezing only a fraction to make her gasp and her heart to raced wildly.
She couldn’t see the man’s face as his lips brushed against her ear.
“My dear, you really must stop lying to yourself.”
She swatted at the strange tingle in her neck and Loki’s hand as she backed further away. The realization of the man being him terrified her but she didn’t know why. There were too many unwanted feelings pulsing her to be near him.
“What did you see?”
“Nothing. I’m not going to jump to a conclusion without all the pieces.”
“Please don’t lie. Anything could help us get out of here.”
“I think it’s best that you stay away from me until we have our shit together. The last thing I need to do is get someone killed because of something we don’t understand.”
Imogen turned for her brother as he stopped wresting with Roysce. She hugged August glad to feel an emotion that wasn’t fear or terror. She looked to the tender moment shared between Emmilette and Nalek as she drank from his hand. The clear water under her looked so beautiful and untainted under her. She was tempted for a drink as well.
“I’m thinking about a drink too,” shrugged August.
She broke away from him and pulled on her clothes. She forced herself to keep her eyes to the water so that she wouldn’t meet Loki’s eyes. She didn’t want anymore memories or to have anything to look back on. August rested his hand on her shoulder and smiled. She thought for a moment to tell him. They jumped as Emmilette shrieked to the sky.
“Emmilette?”
Imogen fought the flowing water to make it to the festering, ashing mass that was where Emmilette was sitting. She reached for her arm, reducing it to ash in her fingers as a green flash stung her hand. Imogen shook in her familiar fear as Emmilette gasped for useless breath.
“No, no, no...”
Her tears returned as the festering turned to beautiful green moss and colorful flowers and clear water to match the scenery around them. Imogen’s tear filled eyes looked around to the beautiful scape to the loveliness that was the poor souls that must have drank the water before they perished. Now Emmilette was with them, never to make it out of Hell as dirt fell through her fingers. The men gathered around Imogen, shocked as she trembled and cried where Emmilette’s paleness had withered away. Her collar clamored to the ground with no one in the moment of shock to see the glowing jewel in the collar to dim out.
Loki stepped in front of Roysce as he was the first to lunge for Nalek.
“What the fuck did you do to her?!”
“She was thirsty! I wanted to give her some water before I took some for myself! You said this realm was greed! I did nothing but help her!”
“Some help that was. You obviously didn’t see her die!”
“Stop it!”
Loki and August pulled the men apart, leaving Imogen to shed her tears over the vibrant flowers that slipped from her fingers. She got to her feet and shook her head wildly. Her arms stung her, bleeding hues of orange and green as they battled for her veins. The surroundings she began to back away from were impossible for her to comprehend. She cried out in grief and pain, unable to see the edge as she stumbled back through her crumbling grass. Roysce was the first to see Imogen before she went over the edge.
“Imogen!”
She looked up to the men failing to reach out for her as she tumbled back to the rocks. The pain she could feel but she didn’t feel like crying out in pain as her body clashed against the side of the canyon to bounce her to the shifting rocks below. The wind was knocked from her as she ended on her back with the eyes of the remaining group moving for the shallower side of the canyon.
She closed her eyes and smiled to the light above her. It almost reminded her to Emmilette.
They opened seeing the colored towers of smoke.
“We are going to get out of here, Imogen. They can’t kill you. You are the best.”
“I’m only lucky. Champions’ circle my ass.”
She turned her head in the memory to August itching at the gold collar attached to his skin. The tips of his fingers were caked in foreign ink that she remembered he didn’t bother to scrape it off anymore because there would just be more the add the next day. She sat up as her coiled brown hair spilled over her shoulder.
In the distance, through the towers, a ship docked on the main bridge. Her eyes saw the important guest that stepped from his ship and locked his emerald green eyes with hers. She wrapped her arm around her brother. They’d survived so far.
“I will not die here,” she decided, matching her words with her memories as she closed her eyes and waited for death to find her.

Our hands brushed against each other’s as we laid in the cool grass that had been shielded from much of the sunlight during the day thanks to the trees that stood almost as tall as the pillars in the throne room. The blades of grass seemingly sang to us as they brushed against each other with as much delicacy as my hand against his. As I craned my neck to the side, ignoring the stars in the night sky for a moment, I gazed into the eyes of the brightest star of them all. Loki. I didn’t know how long he had been staring at me, but it had been long enough for my face to flush with color. His lips pulled up into a cheeky grin, and I was reminded of a time when we were children. It was seldom that we didn’t watch the stars with each other at night.
When we were children, we both watched the stars together. As we grew up, we found ourselves watching each other more often than not. I loved watching him as he gazed up at the stars, amazement overcoming his features. To those who didn’t know him the way I did, Loki was cold and logical. I saw a different man. He was poetic and sensitive. He was beautiful and warm. In that moment, he looked at me the same way he used to look at the stars, with a burning question in his eyes that said, “how was something so perfect created from nothing at all?” And that was why I became bashful.
For a moment, we laid in complete silence just staring at each other. What started as a night of appreciating the beauty that nature had to offer was quickly turning into something so much more than that. When he noticed the glint of reluctance in my eyes, he silenced every doubt with a look of mischief and thrill as he intertwined our fingers. At the time, I was sure it was to cause me some sort of discomfort or to fuel the fire of embarrassment. However, it was because he wanted to feel me the same way I wanted to feel him. As those slender fingers intertwined with mine, I felt myself pushing my body closer to his, leaving almost no space between the God of Mischief and myself.
A piece of me tried to pass off the gesture as something much more innocent than what my own mind was trying to conjure up, but an even larger piece of me knew that this was the start of something I didn’t know if I was ready for. I didn’t know if I wanted to risk the relationship I had with my best friend for something that felt so trivial at the time. However, I could no longer fight off feelings that had been present since the very beginning. We had already pushed the boundaries too far on nights we were feeling unstoppable, and they were some of the best nights of my life. As he held my hand in his own, I tested the waters by giving it a gentle squeeze, seeing that the effect was a playful grin from him. The mischief melted away from his eyes, and he radiated the warmth and compassion I knew him for.
He rolled over onto his side, and I followed him, completely in sync with his motions. Our hands stayed connected and continued to rest in the grass. His other hand reached up to brush the stray strands of hair from my face as he gently caressed my cheek with every motion. His touch was featherlight and filled with tenderness and love. I leaned into his touch and reached up to rest my free hand against his cheek. My fingers danced along the soft skin beneath the tips of my fingers. I took note of his sharp jawline, his chiseled cheekbones, and every dip and angle in his perfect face. Each feature was burned into my memory from the countless years admiring him and touching him. There was only a single patch of his skin that my fingers hadn’t already travelled, and I was certain that the day would someday come for that as well.
“You are so beautiful, my lady,” he finally spoke, a voice that felt like velvet as the warmth of his breath cascaded across my face. He drew even closer to me as his eyes flickered over my face to see that my cheeks burned with diffidence. He knew what his words did to me, but he couldn’t help himself. I could feel that he was speaking his truth when words of praise spilled from his lips for me. I knew that he told me no lies, but I still felt like I was undeserving of his admiration. To me, no one would ever be deserving of something so pure from him, for he was the closest to perfect one could get. I wanted to keep him pure and unscathed, which was why I protected him. Maybe that was why he also protected me.
The sides of my lips tugged up into a shy smile, “you cannot admire the stars if your eyes are on me.”
He chuckled, “you act as if you don’t already know,” he spoke, pressing his forehead against my own. It was something he did often when we were alone. The closeness allowed me to breathe in the scent of him. He smelled of the breeze when it rolled through the forest, carrying the smell of nature with it. He smelled like life, which had no particular scent but freshness. I couldn’t help but close my eyes and smile as I felt our energies bleeding into one another. I nuzzled my face even closer to his, our noses grazing against each others. Sensing that there was still space left, he tilted his head ever so slightly to bring our faces impossibly closer.
When I realized what we were doing, I spoke, “what of the stars, Loki?” I asked, reminding him that his attention should not be wasted on me. Still, I didn’t move from my position, feeling alive once more as he held me.
I could feel the smirk on his lips before he spoke, “I care not of the stars when I look at you for you are brighter and far more beautiful than they could ever hope to be,” he said, causing my heart to swell with joy. His voice lowered as his lips brushed against mine, sending a current through my body, “besides, I have no great love for the stars, not like the love I have for you,” he murmured before pressing his lips to mine, allowing me no time to respond; however, as soon as his lips met mine, I didn’t care about anything else but him. His kiss was gentle, like the water lapping at your feet or the breeze in your hair on a warm night. It had not been the first time he kissed me. We began our love affair-if one could call it that-when we were still young. It was when we were no longer in our childhood, but we weren't quite adults yet. We were in the strange process of discovering our place in the world, and in the meantime, we discovered each other. I always figured that Loki just needed time to realize that he could have someone far greater than me, someone with a name and something more to give.
As our lips danced with each others-slow and steady, like our relationship-I heard him. I heard the thudding of his heart and realized that he was nervous about initiating the kiss, like he always was. I heard a gentle groan that was born deep within his chest. I heard the fluttering of his eyelashes, like the wings of a butterfly, and I realized that he couldn't keep his eyes closed. Instead, he opened them every so often and checked to make sure that he was not just imagining this. I only heard him. I only felt him. It was just the two of us in our own beautiful moment, and I realized that I was waiting for something that would not happen. I was waiting for Loki to figure out that he didn't want me, that he could do so much better, but I knew that the moment he left me, the moment he forsook me, would never come. I didn't know what I did to deserve a love so beautiful and so sweet, but I had him, and I was going to enjoy what time we had together because I loved him.
With the sudden realization that my feelings were reciprocated, my heart swelled with joy, and a lump rose in my throat. I pulled away from the soft and sweet kisses and opened my eyes, allowing the tears to form without feeling embarrassed about them. For so long, I was sure that the only love I would know was the love I had to give, but I never thought I could know a love so strong and so pure that was all for me. As those blue eyes fluttered open, they met mine with fear that he had done something wrong or that he had hurt me in some way. When he saw the tears in my eyes, his eyebrows furrowed, “oh, Eva, did I hurt you? I didn’t mean to. What happened?” he asked, frantically trying to figure out what was wrong.
I could only smile in response to his distress, laughing at how quick he was to assume that he had done something wrong. Even though it hurt to know that he thought of himself as a monster who could only bring suffering and pain into the lives of others, I couldn’t help but feel special in that he wanted to preserve me. Finally, words found me once more, and I said the words to him that he had said to me for years. I gazed into his eyes as the universe fell into place, “I love you, Loki. I have always loved you,” I professed in a voice low enough that not even the trees could hear. I wanted to shout my love for him from the highest mountain, but I wanted the beginning of-what would be-our whirlwind love story to be sacred between just us.
He was left speechless for a moment, but his disbelief faded slightly as tears of joy filled his eyes, “I love you, Eva.”
I smiled up at him, “I love you more,” I whispered, pressing a featherlight kiss to his lips.
It was the first time I told Loki I loved him, and it was the first time I saw him cry. It was the beginning of the centuries we would spend together before the fall.
*End of Flashback*
Heimdall’s deep voice brought me back to the present, “you think not of Hjalmar but of Loki. His darkness plagues you still,” he said, orange eyes staring out into the vast universe. He always seemed to be contemplating something, but at the same time, he was without all judgement. His dark skin glowed brighter than the golden armor upon him. He had the beauty of every warrior before him, but what made him more beautiful than so many was the way he viewed life. He believed that life was to be preserved no matter what, and it was our shared belief that drew us closer together. Just as I was about to argue with him, he spoke again, “you have visited me more times than anyone in Asgard. You have spoken my name more than the Allfather himself. You have spent more time looking out across the vast Universe with me than Thor, himself, a man whose love for the stars has always been insatiable. You have entrusted me more of your deepest and most personal secrets than the queen, a goddess who often stared across the universe with me while filling my ear with details of her life that almost no one else knew. All this, yet you do not think I can see right through you,” he remarked, stoically and without so much as a glance.
My eyes lowered as I processed his words. It was true. Heimdall had been one of the few people who could read me like an open book. He knew my every thought and feeling before it even occurred. It was worthless to attempt to hide anything from him, especially the truth, “I miss Hjalmar, but...I cannot bring him back to me no matter what I do. I cannot right the wrongs that led to his death. I do still feel like there is something to be done about Loki. I still feel like I can bring him back to me, which would right so many of the wrongs in my life. The memory of Hjalmar haunts me still, but I’m trying to focus my mind on something that I can fix,” I explained, gazing up at the strong features of the gatekeeper.
The sides of his mouth twisted into the subtlest grin I had ever seen, but it was still there, “what you fail to realize is that death is not something that requires fixing. You do not lack the ability to fix death because it is just as much a part of life as living,” he stated, finally peeling his steely gaze away from the universe and focusing it on me. When I gazed up into those bright and burning eyes, I was overwhelmed by the beauty in them. He had seen so much beauty and so much pain, and I witnessed all of it every time we locked eyes. He continued, “I can still see him, and he misses you more than you know. He misses you with the same intensity as you miss him. He waits patiently for you, though, because he knows that it is not your time to reunite with him just yet. While he yearns for your company, you should see his joy. He has been reunited with his family, and when you meet your heroes end, you will be reunited with him as well. This doesn’t mean you should ignore your blessings while you are still among the living, though,” he explained, hinting at the one thing that I had not brought up, the one thing I refused to call attention to.
I still had not been home to see Aaldir. I had not mourned the death of Hjalmar with him, and instead, I forced him to mourn alone. I could not face him, knowing that it should have been me. Hjalmar was the only son he ever knew, and I knew that Aaldir would be devastated. I just didn’t know how to go home after this. I stared back out into the dazzling universe, desperately wanting to change the subject, “how are they?” I asked, knowing that Heimdall would understand my vague question.
“They are all in stable condition,” he answered as I felt his gaze shift from me and back out to the stars. It was as if he was watching them as he spoke, “Agents Barton and Romanoff have not left each other’s sides since New York, and they manage to keep each other stable. I think that Captain Rogers is handling it better than all of them, considering that he was still trying to rehabilitate himself when he was pulled back into the fight. Still, he is lonely and...isolated. I believe he could benefit from your company. Dr. Banner is also handling the stress well, but he has learned to master his own mind,” he added before letting out a deep sigh-something he usually did before mentioning Tony Stark, the man I always worried about the most. Not many people could see it and understand it, but Tony Stark was the embodiment of all that I held dear in my life, and when I saw his eyes after his fall from the wormhole, I couldn’t hold back my rampant protective instincts. Heimdall focused his attention back on me, “Stark is having a...difficult time coping with what happened, but he grounds himself in his work as much as he can. His state worries me the most, but I keep a close eye on him, as you requested, and I know to inform you if any of them are in danger.”
I gave him a curt nod, “thank you, Heimdall, not only for your council, but for taking on yet another responsibility just to appease me,” I remarked, my voice filled with gratitude for the man who was not only the Gatekeeper to my home, but also one of my dearest friends. I remained silent for a moment, not even a breath escaping my lips as I thought of the one person he failed to mention. I was unsure if it was to keep from hurting me or if-because the previous time he told me of her-I shed tears in front of him, which was something I rarely did. I gazed out at the beautiful universe and wondered if she was just as fond of the stars as I was or...if she was gazing up at them as well, our souls connecting through them for just a moment. I felt the tears rising in my eyes and the lump in my throat, “and what of her?” I asked, unsure of whether or not I truly wanted an answer.
One of his strong hands disconnected from his sword, and it grasped mine, calloused fingers wrapping around my hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. My bottom lip quivered as I thought of her, of all the moments we shared before I did to her what Loki had done to me, “you did what was right, my lady,” that deep and smooth voice reminded me, “she is safe. She feels lonely-isolated-but she is safe, which was what you wanted for her. She knows not why she feels such sorrow and loss, but she doesn’t think of you...if that is any consolation,” he claimed, knowing that it was, “they miss you, Lady Eva. They all do. The people of Midgard still celebrate your courage to fight in New York, but the ones you fought beside know just how much the battle took from you. If they had a Watcher, they would be keeping a close eye on you, too,” he reminded me, “but you have others here who need you. I beg you to remember them as well.”
I choked back the tears as I gazed out across the Rainbow Bridge that led back to the beautiful city that surrounded the palace. I shook my head, ashamed that I had been so selfish to ignore the man who gave up his life to raise me, a man who had lost so much already. I let my guilt stand in the way of me supporting him, and I didn’t know how to go back after that. I tried to swallow back the lump in my throat before I spoke, “the problem is that I do not know how to return home. I know the way, but I do not wish to see the table my family once sat around, now with another empty chair. I do not wish to be in a silent room that had once been filled with his laughter. I cannot stand the thought of facing the man who raised me because I failed to protect his son!” I exclaimed, allowing a stray tear to fall.
“Never has there been a moment more tragic than when a goddess cries,” he murmured in a low voice as he reached out to wipe the tear from my cheek. I was no goddess, but I wouldn’t argue with him, not after my outburst, “are you not just as much Aaldir’s daughter as Hjalmar was his son?” he asked, pressing me to contemplate my reasoning for avoiding Aaldir, “you forget that he is the God of Mercy. Even if he harbored ill will toward you-which he never has-he has forgiven every mistake and every misdeed you ever have and ever will commit. Do not doubt his compassion and love for you, Lady Eva. Go to him. Mourn with him. Comfort him in the way only you can,” he urged me, resting his hand on my shoulder and giving it a light squeeze.
I nodded my head, knowing that he was right. He made too many valid points for me to refuse his council, “if anything changes on Midgard or with...her...just-”
He cut me off, “you will be the first to know,” he smiled, knowing what I always made him promise me that before I left. I only wished to protect the ones I regarded as friends. I knew that Loki’s actions left a lasting impact upon the Midgardians, especially the Avengers. While I knew they didn’t need me to watch out for them, I needed to do that for myself. They deserved all the protection I could offer them because they chose to spare Loki when they could have killed him. I owed them everything. Tony was the most deserving of every ounce of my protection, for he took on the greatest responsibility of them all.
Knowing that Heimdall would keep his word, I turned away from him and made my way down the rainbow bridge, wishing for anything to stop me from making it home. Every step I took was another step closer to the place house Hjalmar and I grew up in, another step closer to the woods we used to play in every morning as children, another step closer to realizing that he was gone and that all I had left were memories. I didn’t allow the tears to begin falling until I reached the secluded woods surrounding our home. I followed the long path Hjalmar and I used to stray from because he had a strong belief that “adventuring is what makes life fun.” As soon as I dried the tears shed because of a beautiful memory, another memory would resurface, and more tears would fall. It was a losing battle, and upon realizing that, I allowed the tears to flow freely and without shame in them.
As I reached the end of the trail, I finally saw the modest cottage. My legs froze, and it felt like I was unable to breathe. I closed my eyes, the tears that budded on my eyelashes finally spilling down my cheeks. A whirlwind of memories flooded my mind. I could remember when Hjalmar was chased by a wild boar, and I refused to let him in the house because he was dirty and would ruin the freshly cleaned floors. I could remember when I was scolded by Aaldir for playing with the wolves outside, but I would still sing to them and bring them the food scraps whenever I could. Hjalmar knew about it, but he never told our father of it. I could remember Hjalmar breaking one of the branches of a tree whilst trying to climb it, and I cried so much that he planted a new one just for me. I could remember when my father presented me with my first sword, Thunderguard, Hjalmar practiced with me all day. He had been the one to inspire the name, telling me that I would someday fight on the battlefield with the God of Thunder, and it would be my sword to protect him. Aaldir made all of our weapons on his own, and he was the one who saw to it that my current sword, the one he presented to me when I returned from my first battle, was crafted perfectly by the dwarves of Nidavellir.
“Go inside.”
Hjalmar’s voice was soft but sure, and there was not a question in my mind that it belonged to him. I knew that voice better than my own. My eyes shot open, and I whipped around, frantically searching for him only to realize that it was merely a disembodied voice. When I turned back around, I noticed that the door into my childhood home was ajar, and Aaldir stood in the doorway. He didn’t move a muscle, but I knew it was merely out of shock to see that I had finally come home. As soon as I saw those soft brown eyes, the ones I had looked into all my life, I broke down. I no longer cared about what I would find missing within the walls of my home, but all I needed was my father.
As I ran toward him, he closed some of the space between us, arms wide open and waiting for me. I crashed into his body, throwing my arms around his waist, and knocking him back. Immediately after his strong arms wrapped around my frame, I buried my face into his chest and let the tears flow. His left arm stayed locked around my waist while his right hand rubbed circles on my back to soothe me. His body trembled as he choked back his own emotions. He always reminded Hjalmar and I that a true warrior is not ashamed of his own sorrow but embraces it when the time comes. I knew that he was desperately trying to ignore his own emotions to comfort me, but he was failing quickly.
“I tried to save him, but...I couldn’t. It should have been me!” I sobbed, pieces of Hjalmar’s final moments flashing across my closed eyes. I gripped my father’s shirt tighter, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry!” I cried, allowing myself to fall apart with the knowledge that he was the first person I ever trusted to do that in front of. I crumbled, and he picked up all the shattered pieces and put me back together in time with his unconditional love.
He peeled me away from him just enough to cup my face with his calloused hands that had seen thousands of years of war. Those deep and haunting brown eyes were stern when he caught my gaze. Before he could speak, the tears fell down his cheeks and were caught in his brown beard that had begun to turn grey with age. He looked like a broken man in that moment, a man I had never seen before. Even when Hjalmar and I returned from battle, riddled with injuries, he never allowed us to see this side of him. Now, I saw him in such a different light. He was afraid. His eyes searched mine as he spoke, “I never want to hear you say those words again. I never want you to think that it should have been you!” he exclaimed, his voice deep and filled with emotion, “in a perfect world, I would have both of my children in my arms right now, and even though I have a pain in my heart where Hjalmar once was, I still have my little girl. I don’t want to think of what it would feel like to have lost both of you, and if I know anything about you, I know that you would have gotten yourself killed trying to protect him. The fact that you’re here right now tells me that there was nothing to be done to save him. You have nothing to be sorry for, Eva. You came back home to me, and this is where you belong,” he murmured, ignoring the tears on his cheeks to wipe away the tears from mine.
“He should be here, too,” I noted, pressing my face back to his chest.
He sighed that very particular sigh that a father used when he didn’t know how to fix the broken heart of his child. Aaldir had done that many times as I was growing up, and one of the last times he did it was when Loki had fallen from the bifrost. Loki had been just as much a son to him as Hjalmar. Aaldir always showed the trickster as much compassion and love as Odin should have. Where Odin failed to see Loki’s many talents, Aaldir celebrated him. I could remember moments when Odin was too busy watching Thor train that he would brush aside a hopeful Loki who had only wished to show him the new spell he learned. Aaldir, however, would sit for hours and listen to Loki talk about books, the stars, magic, Frigga, and...me. My father saw something in the young prince that not many others did, and he did his best to pull Loki to the light. I saw the sorrow in my father’s eyes when Loki fell, almost like he had lost a part of himself, too. For months, he comforted me as I cried myself to sleep, as I mourned the loss of my love, and I heard that same sigh. This time, it was because he couldn’t bring Hjalmar back. He could not fix my broken heart, but I knew that it would mean he would attempt to fill it with more love than ever before.
In one swift motion, he scooped me up into his arms, “I’ve got you, little wolf. Everything’s going to be okay,” he promised, and in that moment, I realized that even though I didn’t know how to return home, I had a father who would never give up on me. No matter how frightening the path may be or how dark it may seem, he would always find me and carry me home. I didn’t need to know the way.
*Thor’s POV*
Eva’s long brown hair cascaded over her body as I carried her through the halls of the palace with my mother in tow. Ephinea had talked Eva into accompanying her to the celebration of Hjalmar. It was a party thrown in honor of him. While I expected Eva to be in attendance, she was adamant that she would not be going when I invited her a week prior. However, when Ephinea asked her, she seemed to have a change of heart. I half-expected her to pay tribute to him with a song, but she drank the same way he used to. Perhaps, she was honoring him by remembering the way he lived, or she was drowning her sorrows in the ale he loved most. Either way, the night ended with her singing on top of one of the tables as everyone cheered her on. When I finally managed to coax her off of the table, she sat down on my lap and promptly fell asleep whilst the crowd continued singing and drinking.
That led us to this moment. I carried her down the hallways toward Loki’s chambers, knowing that she would feel most at home in there. She had finally spoken his name after quite some time refusing to do so. I knew that the loss of Hjalmar only made the problems with Loki even more tender. It only made her fight even harder for his freedom. While I knew my father would not budge on the subject, I also knew that Eva would not take “no” for an answer when it came to him. She would get him out of his cell one way or another. If I knew one thing about her, it was that she was more willful than anyone else I had ever met in my entire life. I took pity on any man who stood between her and the ones she loved. I would take pity on my father when the time came.
Upon reaching the doors that I had opened without invitation time and time again when I was younger, my mother pushed it open for me, allowing me the space to pass over the threshold with Eva in my arms. I walked her over to the bed, laying her body across the sheets she had slept beneath so many times before. While I knew not of the extent of their relationship, I knew that Eva would often find herself in Loki’s chambers in the early hours of the morning. The two would often sneak back to the palace after staying out late and watching the stars. Some nights, they would fall asleep beneath the night sky, and I would not see him until the next morning. There were also times when Aaldir would invite Loki into his home. I had received such invitations as well, but Loki and Eva had a special relationship that I’d never witnessed between two people before.
As soon as I laid her down onto the bed, the unconscious beauty grasped onto his pillow tightly, never once waking up. She curled up into the vast array of pillows and quickly became entangled in the bedsheets. I smiled at the similar view. I had witnessed it once before. Loki, Eva, and I came back after a night of celebration, and Loki offered his bed to her. Of course, she took up the offer, as Loki’s bed had an unnecessary amount of pillows, which she loved. He never had that many when we were young, but he built up quite the collection, and upon realizing that she loved a bed filled with pillows, he only added more. On that night, Eva had been so tired that she laid down in the bed, tossed and turned until she was comfortable, and when she finally found the perfect spot, she was as still and unmoving as a mountain. Loki and I had shared a laugh at that. It was one of the quirks I watched him fall in love with, and it was something that made me love her even more-she made my brother happy.
Mother stood in the back of the room by the door, but I couldn’t leave the side of the bed to join her. Instead, I could only stare down at Eva, reminiscing of a time we all knew peace. As I stood, gazing at the woman I had fallen in love with years ago, mother’s voice pierced the silence that fell, “she misses him. I can see it in her eyes every day,” she noted with a bittersweet smile as she watched Eva cling to the few things that reminded her of my brother. It was much more than just the pillows.
I turned to meet her eyes, but she was watching the sleeping girl. Eva was a princess if there ever was one, and I believed we could all see it. Soft and flawless sun-kissed skin was dusted with the smallest imperfections across her nose and cheeks. They were barely visible, but once you were close enough, they were all you could notice. They were like stars dusted across the night sky. They did nothing to take away from her beauty but added to it. There were her angular cheekbones that could cut through a man’s heart, and there was the thin slope of her nose. Her hair was dark like the eyes of her father, but what took every man and woman’s breath away were those eyes. They sat below full brows that came to a soft arch, and they were more brilliant than emeralds, a green that matched the colors of spring. Her eyes were without imperfections. No other colors dared to taint the purity of that green. Every time she looked at me, I was left speechless. While I admired their hauntingly beautiful glow, they were filled with so much melancholy that it made me want to cry. I had never seen a woman more beautiful than her, so beautiful that even her tears were stunning, falling like twinkling stars from the sky. They shimmered and sparkled, making it impossible for me to look away and respect her grief, which I had seen on countless occasions.
As my mother gazed upon the sleeping princess, I replied to her comment, “she’s been missing him for some time now. He abandoned her more than a year ago,” I scowled, thinking of how my brother could do something so selfish to someone who gave him everything she had to offer. She bore his burdens, and she lost everything for him. She made sacrifices for him that he would never know, and she gave him a gift he would never receive because of his stupidity and selfishness. She loved him, and he tossed her aside. I knew what led to his ultimate downfall, but...they could’ve run away together.
“You honestly believe that?” mother asked, sensing what I had been feeling, “if your father denied Loki of his happiness before, do you truly believe that he would allow them to run away together? Do you believe he wouldn’t search high and low for them? Do you have faith that he wouldn’t wage a war against your brother to get her back?” she asked, finally meeting my eyes. I shook my head, shame overcoming me for even thinking that it could’ve been so simple. I knew that my father had compassion for Loki, but it wasn’t love, not like the love he had for me. If he did, he would’ve agreed to Loki’s offer just to see him happy. It was why my mother felt so much sympathy for him. He found the one thing worth living for, and Odin denied him of simple happiness.
She motioned for me to join her at her side, “you say that she’s been missing him for so long because he abandoned her a short time ago, but she never abandoned him. She mourned him the same as we all did when he fell from the Bifrost. She was the first to go to Earth when she found out he was there, and she reached out to him to give him another chance. She was the last one to leave the throne room when he was being sentenced, and she was the first one who spoke out against your father, her king, in an attempt to free Loki into her care,” she reminded me of all the times Eva has refused to give up on a man who hurt her with such brutal vigor. On Midgard, it was like he hurt her for the fun of it, like he found joy in bringing her pain and suffering, but she continued to fight for him. Mother continued, “she’s seen what he has done, and it has terrified her. I’ve seen how it shakes her, how the fear rattles her bones. I know who and what she is, and I know that she sings the songs of life. Wherever she goes, life and nature thrive like never before. People are happy, the music is more beautiful, the flowers bloom even when it is not the season for them. She values life, and to see the man who means so much to her threaten that, it tears her apart and terrifies her. However, she still believes there’s a piece of him that is good, like he can still be saved. She misses the man he once was, and she misses the love they once shared. While he did abandon her some time ago, it’s harder now than ever before because he’s so close, but she cannot be near him,” she explained.
“He doesn’t care about her anymore, so she’d be better off if she did let him go,” I scowled, still tense and upset about what he did to her. While I knew that my feelings toward him were born out of my love for her, I tried to understand why he acted out. I didn’t know how I would react in his situation, so I tried not to pass judgement on my brother.
My mother cleared her throat, gazing back at the sleeping girl, “just like you would be better off if you let her go,” she remarked, reminding me that my behavior was just as unhealthy as I believed hers was.
I shook my head, “it’s different. I would treat her well!” I exclaimed, trying to make my mother understand that there would never come a day when I would try to hurt her. There would never come a day when I would lay my hands on her unless it was out of love. On Midgard, Loki broke his code of honor when it came to her. I had the most vivid memory of finding him on Midgard and finding out what he had done to her. Of course, he was swallowed by madness at that point, and her presence only drove him further into the abyss. I could remember the horrible things he said to her, words I wouldn’t even recall in my own mind because they were so vile. He destroyed her on Midgard, but he also surrendered because of her. The moment he realized what he was doing was brought upon by her showing him the same compassion she always had as she was on the brink of death, and she would have let it happen. She never fought him.
Mother’s voice pulled me from my own thoughts, “Loki believes the only way he can protect her is by sending her away. That’s why he pushed her away before he fell from the Bifrost and before he turned against you. He wanted to protect her. Is he misguided? Yes. Does he believe he is doing the right thing? I think so. Your brother is sacrificing the one thing he cares for just because he doesn’t want to taint something so good, and he believes that his presence brings pain. A handful of us watched Eva do the same not too long ago,” she stated, sorrow in her voice, “I know of no one who can simply stop loving a person, and you should be the first to know what that is like,” she murmured.
“My feelings for Eva aren’t what we’re talking about,” I reminded her, never feeling like it was right to delve into my most private emotions. I loved her, but that was a secret I would bring to my deathbed.
“Are they not?” she asked, furrowing her thin eyebrows. She reached between us and grasped my hands in hers, “I see the way you still look at her, my son. It’s the same way you used to look at her when the two of you were younger. She is still the object of your affection. You have tried your best to move on with this Midgardian girl, and you have tried to forget the feelings you harbor for Eva, but you have seen that it’s not that simple,” she said, mentioning my failed relationship with Jane. While I had feelings for the Midgardian woman, they were nothing compared to the feelings I harbored for Eva, and it was unfair for me to pretend like they were. I fancied other women-Ephinea and Sif-but I was still “hung up”-as Tony Stark would put it-on Eva. My mother’s slender fingers stroked the back of my hand as I thought of all the time I spent wishing for just one chance with Eva, but I would’ve never tried to take that away from Loki. I still wouldn’t. Mother’s voice cut through my own distress, and her words brought me some solace, “still, just as one cannot stop loving another, one cannot force themselves to love another. Eva harbors that love for only one person, and even though she tries to deny it, we’ve always known that he would be her undoing, and she would be his saving grace.”
