another ask post
Tumblr media
i mean i also read it because a friend whos rly into queer SFF fiction circles recced it but she did kinda lead with "the writer used to write hs fanfic...tasmyn..taz...?" to which i replied
Tumblr media
of COURSE I read the locked tomb because i heard taz had written a book. of course. ill consume most any media made by a beloved homestuck bnf. thats also why i played undertale. and read like..snotgirl. and idk... watched the new dub of neon genesis evangelion.
if u made homestuck fanwork 10 years ago and havent even made it since chances are I still remember and I love you for it.
Tumblr media
sdlkfhsg its funny you sensed that because that drawing did in fact start kinda more........ well, I'd be lying if I said my hands never wrought a drawing toeing over the pg-13 line LOL...
NOT to say i have a secret stash of porn or anything. in general im more interested in the implication of sexuality or mature themes over any explicit depiction. like everything i draw is so softcore itd almost feel silly to make a nsfw acc for anything.
but im not rly jumping to post anything on main either bc i get the sense i have a lot of kids in my social media following. it varies from site to site and fandom to fandom but the themes in my work often circle around childhood, coming of age etc and in general i like stories about kids so the fandoms i draw for have a lot of kids in them. even stuff like IT (stephen king) which is about kids but isn't necessarily for kids.. there were a lot of kids in that fandom lol.
actually thats why ive been censoring swears in comics lately because the tmnt fandom comes across to me as a little young...IDK I've had MULTIPLE people ask me what "sodomize" means because of the joke in this post and I'm like... I Cannot be the one to explain this to you. you have to look it up on your own klfsdhsdg like i wouldn't be doing this if i were doing a comic for mgs or even homestuck wherein the characters textually swear constantly LOL but sometimes u gotta change tacks depending on the faces u see in the crowd yknow.
i HAVE been thinking abt drawing nsfw of sunspot/richard rider/kobak from x-men red just because that comic seemed to be really asking for it. who knows.. if the need rly arises maybe my separate account policy will change.
Tumblr media
its rly more a matter of the fact that i havent read/watched much of any other iterations... im sure id like most lol. I like most things related to my interests regardless of quality. i rly like the marvel ultimate alliance games for instance. sometimes seeing my fave guy is enough he doesnt have to be well written LOL. i dont exactly have a wealth of free time tho thats the real impediment.
i did watch the 2007 movie on new years eve and found it quite charming overall. and i have read about 30-40 issues between the mirage and idw comics. still feels like im barely scratching the surface but i liked em. i rly want to read all the sophie campbell stuff bc i think her work is interesting. jason aaron will be a mixed bag i think lmao. i say as the worlds biggest Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) fan.
Tumblr media
hmm this is kinda hard bc i feel like i naturally draw very loose and the hard part for me is tightening it up. maybe some suggestions tho...
1) hand excercises. i think its easy to forget this when many artists sit in front of the computer all day but drawing is a physical activity u do with ur actual...bodys...muscles lol. if u feel urself tightening up it might help to strech (any google search for "artist hand excercises" should yield good results) or do a page of loose practice strokes like..big circles. long lines. scribbles. that kinda thing. whatever feels good for ur hand. this is also just good to do as a general warm up before u sit down for any drawing sesh.
2) draw further away from the canvas. as a general rule...when ur painting traditionally you do the big strokes with your whole arm outstreched and a long handled brush. and when you do the details its smaller wrist movements and a shorter handled brush. so it might help to take a step back or push back from ur chair a little.. or hold ur tablet a little further away. and hold your pen further away from the nib.
3) change mediums / brush types. some brushes and mediums are more suited to loose sketching and some more inclined towards detail work. so changing ur tool could help. also! i personally have this problem where sometimes if im using a brush i feel really familiar with the pressure to make a "good" "finished" "perfect" drawing is greater... if i want to force myself to loosen up ill switch to a tool i dont use as often so it feels like the pressure is off. a lot of times for me this is switching from digital to traditional. but sometimes its switching from a small pen to a big marker. or a smooth pen to a textured one. or a nice brush to a shitty dried up marker.
but also every body is different so i dont think these tips will work for everyone. u should listen to what ur body and mind tell u and how drawing feels to you
Tumblr media
bro just sign up and set it up i dont think theres much to it... i dont rly think too much abt my itch.io store because its digital goods so u just upload the file and let it do its thing. no distribution work needed on ur part. youll notice i barely even advertise my itch unless i have smth new on there lol.. its easy. but good luck!!!
Tumblr media
idk if im the best person to ask this im more a comic fan than i am a comic professional... a comic hobbist.
well. scott mcclouds understanding comics and making comics are good books on the craft. i think i had to buy them for a class in art school once.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
other than that idk just keep at it. comics are really laborious i think for a lot of people the hardest part is sitting down and doing it.
i think a lot of people have a very instinctive understanding of how to read comics and what they look like so whatever you think seems like good way to tell the story you have in mind, its probably right. if u get stuck, study comics that have done something similar. most people in comics are relatively self taught and actually it can be problematic bc you can tell when a lot of comic artists are all copying the same like 5 old white guys LMAO. but on the flip side if you make sure to reference and study broadly your comics will almost assuredly feel unique.
Tumblr media
sorry im responding to this anyways. this is just a really nice ask. i like when people reference my older work bc i feel like sometimes theyre subtly implying it wasnt very good LMAOOO. but its true! at least compared to the work i make now ^^ and the fact that im still making art is whats keeping me from being embarassed abt how much of my old art just floats around online lmao im never ashamed to be growing and learning. isnt that a nice thought <3

Summary: f/Reader is the daughter of William Regal & bestfriends with Hook. She ends up working for Tony Khan when her Dad joins AEW. She falls even more for Hook, but she thinks he doesn't like her like that & pushes everyone aside when she sees him with someone else.
YN'S POV:
Everything was going great at first. My Dad finally got to go back to the thing he loves the most, which is wrestling. He got to be surrounded by many of his friends and former colleagues, and I got to go along for the ride.
I started to accompany my Dad to the shows and the signings. I made sure my Dad was on time and organised and that caught the eye of the Tony Khan, one of the owners of AEW.
Tumblr media
Tony asked me if I wanted to be his new assistant since his previous one got fired. After much consideration I took the job and I haven't looked back.
Tony is a good boss and he can be demanding but I have always loved a challenge.
The biggest challenge I face with being his assistant is that he leaves everything to the very last minute and then bombards me with a bunch of tasks, but I always get them done.
But in the mean time, I get to spend more time with my best friend, Tyler. I have known Tyler for years now as our Dad's both work in the wrestling business.
Growing up, it was hard to find friends who wanted to be just my friend and not just get close to me because of who my Dad is and Tyler understood that.
I remember calling him after going on a date with a guy when I was about 15 years old. The guy was nice and one of my friends hooked us up on a blind date.
He picked me up at my place and my Dad answered. I learned that evening was that my date was a massive fan of William Regal and I had to listen to him drone on and on about who he thought my Dad was.
The moment I got home, I called Tyler and he let me vent to him and would chime in here and there. Tyler would always tell me, "then he isn't worth your time. You will find someone YN." and that would instantly calm me down.
"Earth to YN?" Speaking of Tyler. I didn't notice that he is now standing infront of my desk.
"Oh shit, is it lunch time already?" I asked him as I looked at my watch.
"Yes, what has you so distracted?" He asked me.
"Just the finale details of the Pay-Per-View that I have to go over." Was the first lie that came to mind. I can't tell him I was thinking about him.
Not about how much I want us to be more than friends, but Tyler isn't one to settle down. He has told me before that he has no urge to be with just one person. That he enjoys being a free man and can sleep with whoever he wants too.
I knew from that moment on I could never let him know how I feel about him. I didn't want to ruin our friendship.
"Let's go. I'm starving." He isn't usually this pushy but I didn't question him as we started to walk.
He talked the whole way and I just listened. I could listen to him talk for days and never get tired of it.
He was talking and had a massive smile on his handsome face as he talked about what him and Dante did the other night.
As we were coming up to our destination, I saw that we were near a washroom. I told him to go on in without me and that I wouldn't be so long.
But Jade was in the washroom as well and as I was washing my hands, she started to ask me questions.
I answered every single one of them because it dealt with her wanting to know a bit more about what she needs to do in regards to get ready to defend her belt.
Once she was satisfied with all the answers, the two of us went our separate ways.
But as I stood at the entrance to the room, I noticed in the corner that Tyler was talking to Paige VanZant and the two of them looked awfully chummy.
I knew she was married but I also heard that her marriage has been sort of rocky lately.
I was about to walk towards the two of them to let Tyler know I was there, but then I saw him lean in to whisper something in her ear and she started to giggle and she slapped his chest in a teasing manner.
I didn't bother to stick around to see how this was going to go. I wasn't hungry anymore so I decided to just head back to the office and try and work. Maybe all the work I needed to still do would distract me enough.
But as I was leaving the room, I didn't notice the one pair of eyes looking between myself and Tyler.
Tumblr media
Wheeler Yuta's POV:
I was just about to call YN's name when I saw walk into the room, but she was looking for someone. I saw the smile that cam over her face when she finally saw where that person was.
I already knew she was looking for Tyler, but I noticed the smile left her face and there seemed to be a bunch of different of emotions that came over her face.
I looked to where Tyler was and I saw why YN was upset. That guy is a damn fool that he can't see that YN is absolutely in love with him.
I looked back at YN and I saw her turn around and head back the same way she came. I wanted to follow her, but I knew she would be upset that I did that. So I went back to my conversation with Jon and Eddie, but I kept an eye on Tyler to see if he even noticed that YN wasn't there.
He never did.
Tyler's focus only seemed to be on Paige and for some reason that seemed to irk me.
Maybe it is because I look at YN and I see her like a sister to me. Ever since I started to work with her Dad, her and I have gotten close, so much so that the guys have started to tease me about her.
But I do not see YN like that. I really do only see her like a sister and seeing her hurt over some guy that clearly can't see what is right infront of him is killing me.
Tumblr media
Hook's POV:
'Come on, pick up.' I thought as I waited for YN to pick up the phone, but once again it has gone straight to her voicemail. I groaned to myself and sent her another text, which I knew she would not answer.
I have been trying for days to get her to talk to me, but she has just been ignoring me and I have no idea what the hell I have done.
At first, she locked her office door and refused to open it for me. Next she ignored my text messages and now she isn't answering her phone. I know she has to be checking her voicemail because with how my voicemails I have left, her inbox would be full.
I tried to think about what I could of done to her to ignore me like this, but nothing came to mind.
But I did notice that Paul was giving me funny looks every single time I caught him looking at me. The two of us would make eye contact and he would just shake his head and look away from me.
He must know why YN is angry at me. I needed to ask him but I wanted to wait until he was alone.
Which was really hard to get him alone it seemed. He was always with someone, but then one day I saw him walking towards YN's office.
I stood around the corner and waited as he knocked on the door. I was expecting for him to be turned away like I have been lately, but to my shock, the door opened and he walked right on in and closed the door behind him.
I rushed to the door and put my ear against it, hoping I can something, but their voices were just muffled.
I must of looked crazy standing outside her door but I didn't care. I needed to know why she was ignoring me.
I waited and waited but I couldn't hear anything, only a few words here and there, but then I could hear his voice clearer. He must be coming to the door!
I quickly ran around the corner and waited for him there. I peaked around the corner and I could see him and her standing there, talking.
I am now too far away to hear anything but I could see the smile on her face but the smile did not reach her eyes.
Paul turned and started to walk in my direction so I leaned against the wall. Just as he walked past me, I spoke up.
"I see you and YN are getting awfully close." Paul stopped and looked at me. He looked me up and down before he answered.
"Not as close as you and Paige."
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked him clearly confused.
"YN saw you and her getting close. You leaning in to whisper in her ear and her slapping your chest." Paul said to me.
"So? I was asking her for some boxing tips." Paul snorted at that. "Sure you were."
I took a few steps and now I am in his face. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"It means you can only think with your dick and not realise that YN is in love with you and has been for a long ass time."
"Wait what?" I took a step back as I am confused by this. "YN isn't in love with me."
"Good thing you are pretty Tyler." I got offended at that but wanted to laugh because he just called me pretty.
"Look, YN saw you and Paige the other day and she is got upset and is still upset. She hasn't really been talking to anyone, not even her Dad, who by the way is getting worried about her."
"I didn't mean to hurt her." I told him truthfully.
"I know Tyler but you have to know this. YN has stood by as you have brought back woman after woman to your hotel room. She has listened as you tell us what you did to them. Seeing you flirt with someone just broke her."
"I need you to help me Paul. She won't answer the door for me. She won't answer her phone or any messages."
"I'll do what I can."

I found myself standing a bit away from Paul as the two of us stood outside her door. He knocked and she asked her who it was. "Just me YN."
The two of us waited for her to unlock the door. Once she did, she opened it and she asked him to come in.
I heard her heels as she walked back to her desk. I quickly ran inside and closed the door behind me, loudly by mistake.
YN turned quickly and was just about to say something, but when she saw it was me, she closed her mouth.
For the first time in almost two weeks, I am in the same room alone with YN and I had no idea what to say.
I guess I always knew she liked me, but I was stupid once and told her I didn't want to date anyone. I just wanted to have a good time.
But I always came back to YN. She never once said anything to me when I would leave her standing alone in the club so I could get my dick wet.
She would clean off the lipstick marks off my neck or put makeup on the hickies and never once did she complain.
I started to think back on the women I could remember and they always seemed to have one thing in common, they always reminded me of YN.
Maybe the same eye colour, the same hair colour. Maybe the same dress, I don't know, but they always reminded me of her.
I had to stop myself a few times from saying her name, not wanting to offend the other person as I was thinking about YN.
"I'm sorry YN." I was the first one to talk.
"It's okay Tyler." I shook my head no at her as I started to walk towards her.
"It isn't. I should of told you why I talked to Paige that day. I wanted to get some boxing tips from her."
"Sure."
"It is the truth YN. I know it looked like I was flirting but I can't help that." I sure as hell will try harder now.
"If that is all, I have work I have to do."
"Just one more thing." I said as I am know standing infront of her.
"And that is?" YN whispered.
I didn't even answer her. I leaned in and gently kissed her lips, waiting for her to slap me or push me away....but she didn't.
YN and I deepened the kiss and I wrapped my arms around her waist and puked her flush against my body. Her hands were in my hair and was pulling it.
I needed air so I pulled back slightly and I looked at her face. YN as breathing heavy and her eyes were closed.
"I love you too YN. I always have." Her eyes opened real wide at my confession.
"What?"
"I love you YN. I was a fool to try and hide my feelings from you. I could of had you all these years."
"Yes you were a fool."
"Be mine?" I asked hopefully.
"Take me out to dinner and we will see." YN teased. I already knew she was going to be mine.

i am currently relistening to TAZ Balance, because the newest graphic novel just came out a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to relisten and reread at the same time.
the eleventh hour graphic novel was beautiful. it was some of the best art work from the series (in my personal opinion). but I am so excited to see the suffering games arc in graphic novel form.
there are so many moments in the suffering game arc that are beautiful, but seeing what the McElroys decide to do with the arms outstretched scene is going to be amazing
i have watched so many fan made variations of the scene. and I just really look forward to what they decide to do with the characters in that moment.
they have a way of adding layers to the characters in the graphic novels, expressing emotion that is almost lost in an audio medium when it's just three bothers and their dad making so many goofs. but they're really trying.
i am excited to see how they choose to portray all the characters, their reactions.
The panic as magnus gets knocked out of his body, seeing his friends still in this horrible place next to horrible monsters
taako making an impulse choice to separate his soul from his body to go bring his friend back because even back in Phandalin the thought of losing this big ruff boi terrified him in ways he couldn't understand
merle digging deep and finding his magic even after his deity didn't answer his call, using divine power to grab his friends on a different plane of existence because he lost his family once and he isn't going to let it happen again
kravtiz fighting for his life, trying to break free from the thing that is attacking his home, seeing Taako and Magnus being taken back to the plane they belong in.
i just can't wait
it's gonna be great

My thoughts on the One Piece Live Action after that first trailer
After I could settle a bit after all my excitement after that trailer and see few reactions here and there, here's my honest thoughts on the live action.
I admit, when they first announced it, I was disgusted. I knew I would have still watched it, but I had very low expectations for it. Then it got announced that Oda was heavily involved in the process and later on the cast was revealed and I started having a little hope. And the more and more news we got about and seeing everyone involved just being in love with One Piece made me excited for this live action.
Don't get me wrong, I know it won't be perfect. Hell, the anime isn't perfect! So why would the live action? I know people will point out everything that isn't the same or things that they don't like, and even if it is just a small thing, they will criticize the live action badly, but why? Nothing can be perfect and not everybody will like it, but just because you don't like it or don't like live action in general means the live action will be bad. Some people will like it, and that's okay.
Also, we need to realize that even if there's now a live action of One Piece, the original manga is still there. Even if the live action is the best thing ever, it won't replace the manga. This live action is just another way to get people into One Piece and for old fans to rediscover this world and this story. I know some people are against adaptations, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean you should ruin this for other people because some really like to rediscover stories they liked, over and over again.
I've also seen some people complaining about how scary Buggy looks. Honestly, I'm not and I've never been scared of clowns. I grew up with a professional clown in my family so I'm really used to them. So I can't really judge that. But to me, this reaction from some people just shows how those people never read the manga. And that's okay, reading isn't for everybody. But before making a complaint about it, know that first, the manga, especially in the beginning, is way darker than the anime, and that in the manga, when Buggy is first introduced, he is indeed scary. So it works perfectly. It's my opinion, of course, but yeah, I'm already in love with live action Buggy.
As for the small changes, like Usopp's nose or Sanji's eyebrows, I don't mind them to be honest. The characters are so much more than their character design.
We have to keep in mind that this live action will be different from the manga, and that's okay. One of my other fandom is The Maze Runner. If you don't know, The Maze Runner is a book trilogy that got adapted to cinema. The books have a lot going on inside them and so the movie made HUGE changes to the story. The second and third movie aren't even the same story as the books, they changed that much. Still, a lot of people in the fandom love the movies and even some prefers them to the books. I personally prefer the books, but I like having two stories with the same characters.
And as for the CGI and the overall looks of the live action, I'm not too concerned. I don't really mind if it's not perfect, I think the characters and the vibe of One Piece is more important than that. Let's remember after all that a lot of people never read/watched One Piece because they didn't like the art style, but still, One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time.
I will be surprised if the live action goes for more than two seasons, but even if it doesn't, it's fine by me. It's not like we don't have the manga anymore. It's gonna be fun will it last and it's gonna bring attention to an amazing piece of media that is dear to my heart. So it works out for me.
Also, one point that makes me very happy about the live action is the fact that Sanji's actor, Taz, has been trained in ITF Taekwon-do, which is a martial art I teach and that I've been doing for 18 years now. And I'm just so happy about it since Sanji is my favourite character.

Re: worrying about manga/anime Sanji, here's my thoughts on Sanji as a longtime Sanji-liker:
Sanji has some of the highest highs and lowest lows in all of One Piece. His status as a romantic, a dreamer, and a gentlemen are all great, and he also has further hidden depths that haven't been touched on yet where you are, and some moments he gets in certain story arcs are big highlights of those arcs. The simplicity of his design and fighting style also make it so that Oda gets to draw him looking really really cool.
The perv stuff unfortunately absolutely overshadows that at times. Sanji hits his absolute nadir near the middle of the story and it takes a good long while for him to climb out of it. Instances of actual reprehensible behavior are rare enough that I can count them on one hand, which considering theres >1000 chapters isn't the worst batting average compared to some Jump manga, but their rarity can make it even more annoying when they actually happen. By my recollection Sanji's worst moments include one case of breast groping (while body-swapped), two cases of peeping, and one extremely annoying, too-long transphobia joke (Oda's own track record of writing explicitly queer characters is spotty and IMO trends toward the positive, but god damn that sequence sucks).
tl;dr Sanji's a big mixed bag but comparatively tame compared to a lot of perv characters and has enough good points that i can call myself a Sanji fan with only minimal embarassment. Hopefully you'll be able to do the same. Glad to see you checking out One Piece and I hope you enjoy it!
That's such a relief honestly.
I was so utterly charmed by Taz Skylar's Sanji and Sanji being a dreamer and a caretaker really endeared me to him. I also LOVE his fighting style so once I finished I knew he was my fave straw hat. Buuuut then I learned about his whole *thing* with women and got disheartened cus it really is one of the worst tropes in anime.
However, as an anime fan I have come to terms with the fact that there will always be a certain level of Anime Bullshit in any anime I like, so if Sanji is tame compared to other Jump characters he shares the trope with I will take it.
I read all of Naruto and clawed my way through Jiraiya. If Sanji is not nearly as bad as him I can deal with it.

During all the stalking and attempted cursing, Danhausen watched Hook closely and learned his body language. After they became partners, Hook is pleasantly surprised when Danhausen is able to keep a conversation going with him without him ever having to speak. Even after so long apart, it still works much to the confusion of everyone else.
(I hope you are are okay with me going a little sideways with this, but outsider POV is literally crack to me, so...)
Taz has dealt with some difficulties in his life, obviously, but he's reasonably sure that he'd never anticipated that some of the hardest ones wouldn't even be his, but his kid's. Or that they would mostly center around mundane, normal things rather than life-altering situations. But that's kind of just how it goes with Hook. Taz loves the kid more than air, of course, but man can it be hard to get through anything that comes up outside the routine with him.
Which is why, when AEW reaches out, wants to have a big thing with all the belt-holders to show off for the stakeholders, get some new people onboard, that Taz's first reaction isn't what a great idea but ah, shit. Now he's going to have to be on full-alert, watching Hook frown and scowl and shake his way through forced socialization with half a dozen cameras and microphones scattered throughout the room.
There are a lot more people than he anticipated. It isn't just the current belt-holders, but all their friends, their teams, their PR people behind the scenes; the wrestlers are center-stage, of course, but the banquet hall is packed and Taz sees Hook's shoulders clench before they even get to the double doors from the wall of sound alone. Taz mentally preps himself for a long, long evening.
He appreciates what they're doing, he does. Taz has been part of the world for long enough to know that exposure is the only real way to get new fans; he understands, logically, how important those revenue streams are. He just hates watching Hook stand surrounded by microphones with the face Taz has seen for years, the narrowed eyes and furrowed brows. It ain't Hook's fault his expression as he moves towards overwhelm resembles so much of a grimace, a scowl, it's just the way he is.
A reporter gets him cornered. Hook’s eyes sort of flicker around the room, scanning for exits. Taz starts forward, resigned to keep the kid from bolting, when someone else materializes next to him in a black jacket and jarringly white face paint. Danhausen. Taz hasn’t seen him in awhile, since he and Hook stopped tagging, but he’s tried to keep tabs. Guy’s palling around with the Best Friends now, must be here with Orange Cassidy.
“Ah, hello, Danhausen here, yes,” Danhausen says, with his hands curved out in front of his chest. He’s a natural in front of the camera, eats attention up like it fuels him. Hell, maybe it does, Taz doesn’t know. “Danhausen’s good friend Hook here doesn’t go around challenging people, as you know, they always come and challenge him.”
The cameras and microphones sort of slide to the side, refocusing; Taz pauses. He’d been about to rescue Hook, get him out from the spotlight a little, but he doesn’t need to. Hook, face obscured a bit by his hood, the thing Taz hadn’t been able to argue off him the whole drive in, exhales, the tension bleeding a little from his shoulders. He turns so the cameras get the side of his face, angled towards Danhausen, who is still animatedly rambling into the nearest microphone.
“--recall that Moriarty fellow as well, yes? He’s issuing challenges to everyone! So, you see, Hook is not the kind of person to go out and find his opponents.”
He grabs Hook’s shoulder with one hand and then pats the joint with the other. Taz freezes, waiting for the flinch that never comes. He half expects Hook to grab the weirdo and send him flying into the nearest wall. But Hook just stands there, hands shoved in his pockets, and lets Danhausen lead him away like that. Still touching.
Interesting.
Taz grabs for one his bottle of water, takes a swig, and decides this is something he needs to see for himself.
Danhausen is good. He’s a natural in front of the cameras. He knows when to change the topic, knows when to keep going; he’s got a strange natural charm for someone wearing Halloween paint. The reporters love him, eat up everything he offers. They end up across the room with another team, boom mics dipping low.
Danhausen does all the talking. He’s adept enough to make everything a question Hook only needs to nod along with, raising his fist once to illustrate. Hook’s still got that look, rocking side to side like he does to help keep himself calm, but he isn’t at panic level yet. Taz would have given him approximately ten minutes before he lost it, and they’re already past that time. He’s impressed, despite himself.
Taz isn’t usually impressed at things like this.
“--so then, Hook will eviscerate them!” Danhausen is saying, animated, gesticulating wildly. “And of course, Danhausen believes Hook will keep the title for many more months. Maybe even years. Obviously, others agree with this.”
They make the rounds, circling through each set. It’s deftly done; every reporter gets at least one shot of Hook, a nod or a half-hearted fist raise, enough to satisfy them enough to push the attention elsewhere afterwards. Without making it obvious, Danhausen has led them through the entirety of the press roster in record time. Taz lingers in the background. Hook’s gaze has barely wandered over to him, and here Taz thought he’d be holding the kid upright by this point, forced to resort to demands to keep his feet planted on the ugly carpet this long.
But by the last one, Hook’s starting to unravel. He’s bouncing on his toes, one of the classic signs that he’s almost painfully overstimulated. His scowl’s gotten more pronounced, punctuated by winces. Taz is gonna have to get him out soon before he explodes.
Danhausen gets there first. With a flourish, a half-bow and a wiggly little handwave, he maneuvers Hook out the doors he’s somehow slid them back up against, a promise hanging in the air that Hook will return and answer more of their questions. And then they slip out. The reporters are satisfied, turn back to the others. Taz has never seen anything like it.
He waits, making a split-second decision, and then follows them out. He just needs to make sure Hook’s alright.
They head down the hall, Danhausen’s arm slung over Hook’s shoulder, and that’s surprise enough, honestly. Generally by this point, Taz has no choice but to send Hook out alone to give him time to collect himself, to talk the nerves back down. The fact that Hook hasn’t flipped Danhausen onto the floor, the guy’s arm draped over him, even, is...telling.
They end up in a stairwell, the kind with awful acoustics and switchbacks of metal steps. Taz throws a foot out to keep the door from closing completely so he can tail them in as quietly as possible, and is lucky the ringing of their footsteps masks the lack of a latch click. He pauses inside the doorframe. Hook and Danhausen go up one of the flights and sit near the top, where the pathway curves back around the same direction to keep rising. Taz can just see their faces through the bars.
He hears Hook’s sigh, loud enough to reverberate. “Thanks.”
“Hook knows it’s not a problem,” Danhausen chides. “This is a difficult situation for him.”
“Hate it,” Hook agrees, sounding more good-natured than Taz ever could have expected after so much time in there. They fall into quiet; Taz lowers his breathing, determined to stay hidden at the bottom. Then, Hook sighs again. “Sorry I’ve been shit at texting back.”
“Hook is very busy; Danhausen understands.”
“No, I just...” A shrug that Taz could imagine even if he couldn’t see the fabric folding across Hook’s shoulders. “Don’t know what to say.”
Danhausen pauses before answering. “I hope Hook has never felt as though he has to say something to still be important.”
“That’s the problem,” Hook says. “I don’t...I’m bad at this.”
“You’re not.” A shuffle sounds, boots dragging a bit across the metal as Danhausen swings his knees in Hook’s direction.
“You don’t have to lie,” Hook tells him, huffing. “I know I am.”
“Hook isn’t bad. Hook is just Hook, always.”
Taz watches Hook wipe at his face a little, hood falling back slightly. “Not enough.”
“Hook has always been enough,” Danhausen says, quieter.
They move, so Taz can’t quite see them anymore. He leans forward because the conversation has gone quiet and he’s afraid, still, that Hook’s about to lose it, go postal in the stairwell as the overstimulation bubbles up and over with nowhere else to go. Instead, Danhausen has Hook’s face in his hands. There’s a moment of nothing before Danhausen leans forward to bridge the space and kiss him.
Clearly not the first time this has happened, given Hook’s lack of shock and the fact that he’s moving into it, and--okay, Taz needs to leave now. That’s his kid, after all.
He backs away, shuts the door as softly as possible, and he’s pretty sure neither of them notice since they are...otherwise occupied. Taz stops a step outside the entrance to the stairwell, frowning. Not what he’d anticipated, pretty much ever, but Hook’s an adult now, can make his own decisions. And honestly, Taz has been pretty impressed with Danhausen’s ability to read Hook all night, his familiarity with Hook’s little tells and signs.
There could be worse choices, he supposes, after a few moments of thought. Even if the dude is pretty weird.
He goes back to the event, talks to some reporters. Hypes Hook up some more. He thinks it goes okay, in the end.
Hook takes awhile to get back to the car after, so Taz has taken to leaning against the hood to wait. When Hook shuffles back to the parking space with his hands shoved in his sweatshirt pockets, Taz tosses him a bottle of water that he catches easily.
“Invite him to dinner,” Taz says, inviting no argument. “Your mother will want to meet him.”
Hook’s free hand immediately flies to his mouth, dragging across. There’s a bit of black there, true, paint smudged free and transferred against his bottom lip, near the corner. Hook pulls his fingers away, glancing down at them.
Even in the too-bright lights of the parking garage, his ears have gone very red.
Taz grins. “Now get in the car. I’m tired.”
“Yes, sir,” Hook mumbles, and Taz has to hold in his laughter as he sullenly climbs into the passenger door, thoroughly embarrassed.

So about that OPLA...
My boyfriend, John (@jchristievo ) and I just finished watching One Piece live action on Netflix and I gotta say, fuck the haters. This was so goddamn fun.
So I'mma take a minute to gush about it cuz I gotta!
For context, John's a major fan of the manga/anime while I'm over here like, 'I saw the 4Kids dub for a hot minute when I was a child and was like nope!' I did watch several episodes leading up to Arlong Park with him as we geared up for the live action release, so I became familiar with most of the main parts of the intro of the series and before that, I respected the series for what it is and means to people. Because of the latter, I was definitely skeptical when I first found out about the adaptation, worrying for how they'd handle such a beloved series, but all the promotional stuff got us both hype af and had me hopeful that it'd be good. Not to mention Oda himself over here like, "Yeah, I want this to be a thing and it's gonna be made to my satisfaction or I'm pulling the plug".
For the creator to have so much involvement was such a game changer already and the cast are so delightful. Iñaki is 🌟Grade A Certified Good Shonen Boy🌟, Mackenyu is badass incarnate, Emily is a fucking weeb, Jacob consistently had me in stitches, and Taz was suave and also a badass. I absolutely adored all these goobers so much just from seeing them interact in the promos. Granted, I know those were staged to a degree, but their chemistry was there regardless and made me grin ear to ear every time.
I'm now familiar enough with the first arc to know what changes were made and some of what I'd expect when we went in, and I really like the way it was paced to cover everything it needed to. It can't be a one-to-one, but anyone expecting such a thing is out of their gourd. I think the story told here was very well done from beginning to end.
I did have some issues, of course. The series isn't perfect and there are definitely nitpicks I could name if given the time. While I think the acting was good, I think Arlong was one of the weaker aspects in terms of visuals which I think were otherwise excellent. He was intimidating enough, but his stature robbed him of some of that just a bit. It might be my main issue, in fact.
In regard to changes made, I'm probably the most happy that they left out Don Krieg. Even watching the anime, I never felt intimidated by him and got kinda bored with that whole span of episodes. They just wound up dragging so much imo with him doing very VERY little that I'm glad he was relegated to what was barely more than a cameo.
I think that's about all I wanted to cover as far as my main reaction. Only other thing I could conceivably mention would be...
I never expected that Buggy the fucking clown would be my favorite fucking character. Oh my god, I am so goddamn happy that he kept showing up. He was such a highlight and had me howling. For real, his actor was just
Tumblr media
He was the perfect amount of unhinged and sassy and I was here for every second. I'm absolutely watching the series again to be on the hunt for Easter eggs with John, and to watch it with the og Japanese VA dub, but I'm likely gonna be watching Buggy's episodes the most cuz he's the best and I didn't get nearly enough Buggy.
Overall, 8 outta 10. Needed more Buggy. 🤡

HI IM BACK IM THE ANON WHO KEEPS TALKING ABOUT OP-
Sorry I disappeared but life has been, well: life 🤡 BUT!! we should just get that 3rd piercing at this point and blame it on zoro LMAO I actually told my mom I’m planning on getting it and she told me that if I did it maybe she would get a second piercing on her ear!! again I would say go get it, but I know healing is horrible when it doesn’t go well so definitely think about it more as to not regret it c:
AND YESSS I’m also so excited!! Especially since I’m now FINALLY on the Alabasta saga when I truly felt like I wouldn’t be able to get there, but I discovered x1.25 speed and made it possible LOL
Iñaki is so so so luffy seriously, the whole cast is great and they seem so passionate about it, I can’t help but watch the bts of the show bc of them, and yes I’m down bad for zoro LMAO like he can be a little dumb but I love him that way, he’s a loyal dumb man<3
Tbh every time sanji appears and does something silly/shocking/pathetic I think of you and I’m like “yeap, I get it, I see the vision” AND YES CHOPPER IS SO CUTE!!! they made me sad for a freaking whale and then they got me weeping with chopper’s past, I thought sanji’s was a pretty strong one but damn, I wanted to get into the screen and hug chopper fr<3 also I wasn’t expecting to see ace so quickly after and well, I’ll just say I said “I’m sorry zoro” when they introduced him on that food place scene LMAO but I’m still a zoro fan I just had to acknowledge ace is definitely built different 😔🙏🏽
don't worry about dissapearing i get it it's all good dear 💕 i think i'm 100% gonna get it next time i go out with a pal that we always end up going to a place with a lot of tattoo/piercing shops and i simply will have no control over myself when they're There you know LMAO also love it that your mom wants to get one too my parents just sigh when they see another piercing
dude 1.25 speed my beloved LMAO i was talking to some friends yesterday that i started watching it and they were like dude do not feel bad about skipping some parts or going faster because these fuckers take Time, and i was liek oh no no no worries i for sure have been doing that LMAO i saw a video the other day that described the whole alabasta saga as "they're in the desert for way way longer that you think they're gonna be" and man if that isn't true
they are all honestly so passionate about it i wish we could see even more behind stuff, not only for the interactions between them because i Live for iñaki and taz together, but to see how everything was made as well
that's my pathetic little man i love him so much glad that you can see the vision as well SDLGKHSL they made chopper's backstory so sad and for What like we were gonna get attached to that little reindeer no matter what why make us suffer as well. if that isn't all of us when ace appears like hey so sorry main crew i need to know everything about luffy's brother immediately can you all leave us for like 30 min. ace is indeed build different i love that guy so much, but zoro will still be there you can enjoy ace in alabasta for a while LSKHDGL

okay but I would like to hear Thoughts about Hook's presentation and character because I think it is very interesting (eyes)
Prefacing this by saying this is nothing new, nor does it make any sense, but I'm so into Hook on a genuine level.
Ok so this all comes from the last line from that video package they showed on Dynamite "Team Taz makes assassins"
The idea of a wrestler who comes in, destroys people on the command of someone else (manager, tag partner, whatever) is a common trope, heck one of my favourite wrestlers right now - Wardlow, because of course it is, I like big muscly dudes - Is exactly that. For now.
This is not a ramble about a Wardlow face turn, I'm not letting it turn into a ramble about a Wardlow face turn.
But there's something unique (at least to me, a highly inexperienced wrestling fan) about the way Hook is presented if this is the type of character he's going to be, which with his debut essentially being driven by Taz needing to send a message and sending someone to be intimidating. And lets be real, as soon as we saw it was against Fuego, we all knew it was gonna be a squash. Man doesn't win on TV.
Then Hook comes out and so much of the way he acted in the ring, things like expecting just his presence to be intimidating and getting in the face of the ref, those all feel like stuff that bigger, massively muscly guys do. But its just Hook. He's not made of muscles, he's strong no doubt, but appearance wise, not to the level of the usual 'intimidating force of nature guy just choking out jobbers to prove a point'. He's just Hook, with the hair and the hoodie and the chips, but now he's on a war path.
He comes in, he has the upper hand almost the whole match (Fuego gets one near fall I think? Its mostly Hook), and leaves, no fuss. Its a chill war path, but one nonetheless.
And its the fact that its such a common thing - the guy in the faction/stable that gets sent out to kick ass and prove a point, wrestling's equivilent of an assassin - but someone of Hook's size and general appearance (don't even have time to talk about his hair) in a business where so much of your character is based on looks, it feels fresh. It feels freakin cool. Then you consider that its Taz sending his son as a way of sending a message, basically as close as he can get to getting in the ring itself, it adds layers. Of all the guys in Team Taz, bigger guys, more experienced guys, he sent the one he *knew* could send exactly the message he wanted to. He sent Hook, to steal a meme.
This started somewhere. And I began writing this nearly an hour ago, and I don't fully remember my point because I got distracted on a seperate rant about how entrances do so much to build unique characters just from how they get into the ring, but it was something along the lines of:
Hook's general character isn't new in and of itself, and barely unique within aew when you look around at the various teams and factions, but because its him it feels special just from the optics alone. And because, at the end of the day, its Hook, and everyone, deep down, is a Hooker.

I'm a fan of mcyt (minecraft youtube/youtubers) and mcrp (minecraft roleplay) as well as a reader and writer of mcrp fanfic. I have been invested in and participated in the mcrp tags discourse and I know a lot about the situation. I saw some conversations in this blog and wanted to add my input. First off: the current mcyt/mcrp tagging situation sucks. I have nothing against rpf but there is plenty of minecraft roleplay that is not rpf. The same way in something like TAZ the characters and the people roleplaying them are distinct. It's very frustrating as a sorting system because there is a lack of differentiation. This has nothing to do with my morals, it impacts the functionality of the system. I want to read fanfiction about the characters, not the content creators, and ao3 doesn't differentiate that. Like I do want to read about Tommyinnit's dsmp rp character recovering from his abuse but I could care less about the irl dude lmao. I'm sure plenty of fans of Tommyinnit rpf feel the same. But it's the same character tag so I can't even sort the rpf and stuff out. Mcyt tags are also often their real names even if it is not what they commonly go by on streams/videos so a lot of the time if you don't know the irl content creator's name it can be hard to search for content about them (dsmp streamer Badboyhalo only ever is called Badboyhalo/bbh/bad in his content but his ao3 tag is his irl name (Darryl Novescovich) and since most fans don't know his name they wouldn't know where to look for first glance. I remember being really confused and having to look him up the first time I saw his tag in a fic bc I didn't realize that was bbh). Also since pretty much all minecraft to is grouped under 'video blogging rpf' if you're from a smaller minecraft rp fandom it can be hard to find works in your fandom when all the content in the video blogging rpf tag is of dsmp (the most popular minecraft rp). Also just really confusing in general. Like I like the series Last Life SMP a lot but I can't just look for fics in it's fandom tag. I have to look at the cc tags for the characters I like in a series and often see content I'm not interested in for their other series and rpf. Even in cases where the characters are distinct from the content creators it's still not marked as distinct. There are many minecraft rps for which the creators have specifically said that the characters they portray are not them and it is roleplay. In various mcrp series from the youtuber Aphmau most of the characters are played by voice actors she specifically hired for the project and yet it still doesn't have a fandom tag! Also in many cases different characters played by one cc (content creator) are just put under the cc's tag even though they're different characters. If I want to read about Ranbob (a character played by content creator Ranboo) there is no tag I can search so most of the tag will be flooded with Ranboo's dsmp character and other characters he's played and rpf. Again I have nothing against rpf (I don't want to read it but I have nothing against it) but the current situation isn't working. There need to be more fandom tags that are distinct from video blogging rpf and character tags that are distinct from content creator tags. I love ao3 a lot but that doesn't mean it is immune to valid criticism and I think it can improve here. Sorry if this is confusing. If this is confusing or you have more questions let me know and I'll message you.

If you're up for it, let's play a game of "create your own faction" using by filling these roles:
- A current Champion
- An existing tag team
- A singles Female wrestler
- A singles Male wrestler
- A "veteran" wrestler
- A manager
Is your faction Heel or Babyface?
And if there's any other little details about your faction, I'd love to know ☺️
Hmmm, this is an interesting one based on what I, ideally, would build because they'd all have to work really well together but let's see if I'm up for the challenge.
Current champion: Ricky Starks. It was between him and Scorpio Sky, but since Scorpio is one half of MOTY I consider them a packaged deal, and I don't know that I think it's easy for one half of a two man group to be the leader -- not without there being a lot of strife and I need this faction to last. Ricky, as FTW champ, is currently the de facto active wrestling leader of Team Taz and they're still currently one of the few factions not in need of family therapy.
An existing tag team: The Butcher and the Blade Listen, I have a lot of favorite tag teams, including the Bucks, PnP, and FTR. But if I'm pulling a team up for my uses, I want these guys. They're incredibly talented and not quite finding their stride right now with AFO (which happens when multiple tag teams are in your faction)
Singles female wrestler: Allie "The Bunny" Who am I to break up a marriage?
Singles male wrestler: Lee Moriarty The only current face on this list. But I love this guy. He's got a moves that balances out the rest of the team above. There's an instance of this that I was thinking about where I brought in 2point0 as my tag team and DG as my singles wrestler. Even though I'm not a JAS fan, I'm leaving them where they are. Don't worry, we'll beat JAS and wind up absorbing them later. Shawn was another contender here, because I am currently torn between loving what he's doing and wishing he was in the ring more for his own matches. But Lee? Turn him heel and let's mold him in the image of what we need character-wise boosted by his natural talent.
A "veteran" wrestler: Lance Archer This one's hard, I mean how are we defining "veteran" here. Ricky defines himself as a mentor to some of the younger guys and has said so in interviews, but he also doesn't consider himself a veteran. But I'm going with Lance here. He debuted 21 years ago and to be honest, I think there's a lot he could be doing right now that his booking isn't allowing him to do and as I've said, I have no clue what Lambert is doing with him as he's not linked with the rest of ATT. So we'll bring him in and give him his shine.
Manager: Me. Tully Blanchard If you can't tell from my fics, I love Tully immensely. FTR might have fired him, but I love him and think he can help these guys be ruthless. That being said, obviously, Taz was a contender here given I went with Ricky -- but he'd be an ally for sure if not Team Taz continuing to be an extension a la House of Torture to Bullet Club in NJPW. And Jake, who I adore and miss on my television.
Heel or Face: Heel all the way, baybeee. We're not cheaters, we're just really f'n creative.
I don't know about details, but I think you've got strong belt contenders here when these folks are put together and utilized right. I also think they'd perform well against a faction that's face OR heel.

It's You (Part 1)
Hook x f/Reader
Tumblr media
Just like all my other stories, this has not been proofread, but please enjoy.
Gifs & photos do not belong to me.
Warnings: Some swearing.
Main Masterlist ♡ AEW Masterlist ♡ It's You Masterlist ♡ Hook Masterlist
Summary: f/Reader is the half-sister of Dr Britt Baker DMD. She has been trained by Cody Rhodes where she met her best friend Hook. The two of them slowly fall in love but keep it a secret until she is asked to join Team Taz.
Tyler - Hook ♡ Peter - Taz ♡ Page- Jamie Hayter ♡ Tanea - Rebel
Y/N'S POV:
I have always wanted to be a wrestler just like my older half-sister Britt. At first our parents didn't want me to be one because of how many times Britt would end up hurt but that never stopped me.
Any time she had a match, I was there in the front row, cheering her on and in the mean time, she was showing me how to properly wrestle.
Then she met Cody and Dustin and they took an instant liking to me and thought I would be a great wrestler.
That is where I met my bestfriend Tyler Senerchia.
Tumblr media
We became fast friends as we were the two youngest ones at The Nightmare Factory. I spent many days and nights with him and his parents, Peter and Theresa.
Tyler and I did everything together. If you saw one of us, the other one was not far behind.
So many people actually thought we were dating but we would just laugh in their face at the thought of the two of us dating.
We would then nicely explain that no, we are just bestfriends.
But that all changed when the two of us were swimming in his parents back yard on a hot summer day.
I was wasn't watching where I was walking and slipped on some of the water that was the ground.
Tyler who was right beside me walking, caught me and even though this sounds cheesy, the moment his arms were around me, it felt like fire works went off.
The two of us stared at one another and it was like what everyone had said over the years came to our minds.
The next thing I knew, Tyler pulled me flush against his body and our lips crashed against one another.
It was like years of pent of feelings came rushing over us at that moment. I tried to pull him closer to me if that was even possible but he tried to do that as well and we lost our balance and the two of us fell into the pool.
The two of us came up from the water laughing and what just happened but he pulled back into his arms.
"You think we should just listen to what they have been saying Y/N and finally be together?" He asked with a smile on his face
I pretended to think on it and his smile started to falter. "I think we should, but let's not give anyone the satisfaction of proving they were right a long....only for a little bit atleast Tyler."
"Be our own little secret, just until we are ready to announce to the world we are together."
And we didn't tell anyone for a few months. Tyler didn't tell his parents and I didn't tell mine or my sister, and trust me that was hard as I tell my sister everything.
Speaking of my sister, she is helping me get ready for my third match. It is against Julia Hart. Unless you are a massive wrestling fan you wouldn't know that Britt and I are sisters.
We really don't look that much alike and I don't even use my real name. When looking for a name to wrestle under, Tyler suggested Morgana which I liked.
My entrance music started to play and I had to stop myself from getting too into the song. It is Getting Away With Murder by Papa Roach.
"Ready Y/N?"
"Ready as I'll ever be Britt." I got signaled to go on. Seeing the crowd cheering for me was amazing. I don't think I could ever get tired of this.
I got in the ring and Julia and I just stared each other down. She is an adorable little thing, but she isn't going to win.
The match didn't last long once the bell rang. Julia is good but I have been doing this longer than her and have had more practice, so it didn't take me long to get her to tap out.
Once I was backstage, my sister hugged me and congratulated me as well.
Tumblr media
She was gone and had go get ready to go out with Paige and Tanea. I went and got changed into some normal clothes and took off the makeup.
"Lookin' good out there gorgeous." I turned at the sound of Tyler's voice. He was leaning against the door of the change room.
"You don't look that bad yourself handsome." I said to him as he walked towards me.
I raised my eyebrow at him as he looked me once over and bit his lip. "What I would do to you Y/N. It's been too long baby girl."
It has been too long. I was trying to thinking about the last time we did anything when I felt his lips on mine.
I moaned at the feel of his lips against mine and my moan went louder as he started to kiss down my neck.
We were so involved with one another that we didn't even hear the door open. Tyler and I sprung apart at the sound of a loud gasp.
Tyler spun around to step in front of me and I looked over his shoulder. There, with her eyes wide open was none other than Theresa, Tyler's mom.
Well, there goes our secret.

Alright I went to Louisville Galaxycon and saw Travis and Clint twice, for their worldbuilding workshop and their Q&A. Here's some interesting stuff I learned (I didn't include stuff they talked about that's pretty common knowledge or they talked about on the last ttazz)
Graduation
Fitzroy was originally going to be a jock that was weak bc he no longer had a team, Travis told Griffin that that didn't really work for the world so they reframed it as him training to be a hero, was great academically and behaviorally, but had a problem no one had seen before and no one felt like dealing with. It specifically wasn't "barbarian fails bc he can't keep his rage in check," it was that no one was willing to deal with his magic so they shipped him off
Someone asked Travis to explain fitzroy's magic, so from the DM's mouth- he's a barbarian subtype with elemental magic which has a random effect while raging, which we haven't seen yet (path of the wild soul if you want to look it up and see what he can do) and he took a feat which gives him the ability to cast 3 cantrips of his choosing. What I thought was interesting was that Travis described Fitz's magic using the word "elemental" twice, even though that isn't specifically stated in the path of the wild soul entry
Travis knows Argo's secret and is very excited about it
Clint has a pirate fiction book he reads every night before they record to get into the headspace to play Argo, he told us the name but I forgot it
There is one small little concept that made the whole of graduation make sense to Travis and is what the arc will be about, and he only figured it out a few days before recording. Obviously he didn't tell us what it was
Originally it was going to start with everyone starting at age 11 and slowly killing the other kids off, but Justin didn't feel comfortable playing a game surrounded by kids dying
The accounting scene is already one of Travis' all time favorite taz scenes
The pegasus scene informed Travis on exactly how he was going to treat the firbolg
Also Travis referred to Justin's character exclusively as "the firbolg," which means "master firbolg" is solely a thing going on with the npcs in the game which I find hilarious. They just all decided to give him a dope title bc he deserves it, meanwhile no one will call Fitzroy "sir"
To Fitzroy, social threats are an extremely real and serious thing, like the Biggest thing to him (we were talking about what characters found threatening in the workshop, for context)
There's some big concept/idea that comes up in the next episode that travis almost let spill and had to quickly stop himself from saying it
Someone mentioned eating breakfast in their question in the workshop and Travis goofed on it for a second, then said "cereal world" suddenly, and Clint had to pick up the question bc Travis had to take a second to make a note of it in his phone
Travis started brainstorming graduation in March and they recorded the first episode in October, and his main job in that time was working on graduation
Before Buckminster was adapted for graduation he could not fight at all, if he got into a fight he would die, he poured everything into charisma and could talk his way out of any fight (even the big bad of the game he crit 20d his check and the big bad walked away from the fight)
Travis is really into psychology and how if you assign a label to someone they're going to act more like it (ie you tell a kid they're amazing and smart and talented and they become more like that, you tell a kid they're annoying and dumb and a problem they become more like that), and how that was a major contributor to play into hero/villain/sidekick/henchperson dynamics, you get assigned this arbitrary title of good/evil/subservient and you become like that to fit the role, and then the inevitable pushing against that mold
Travis is fully aware of his story being compared to harry potter and he doesn't care bc it's apt (people in a school arbitrarily divided into four groups and one of them is the Bad One), also he knows people describe it as "sky high meets Harry Potter meets my hero academia" and he actually finds that really flattering bc he thinks that sounds cool and like something he'd want to watch
On that note, Travis is a self-identified Slytherin and he's always upheld that the reason Slytherin is depicted in a bad light is bc Rowling decided she didn't like them, and he's always sympathized with the idea of a first year Slytherin working their ass off following the rules and doing their work and getting points, and Dumbledore rewards three idiots for breaking like every rule and pulls the trophy away from you. This was a big inspiration for graduation, of one group getting a bad rep and being portrayed as evil for literally no reason
Amnesty
Clint & Travis's favorite scene they've ever done together was Ned & Aubrey's final scene together
Aubrey and Dani do move in with each other at the end of amnesty
Balance
Travis' main emotion around taz is pride and he's most proud of the scene in stolen century with the spirits in the robots, bc they had to record it a second time bc it got way too dark and ended in a really grim way and about 20 min after they finished they all decided that they weren't happy with it, that it didn't fit the tone, he's really proud they didn't just leave it be and they took the second pass at it to make it right
I'm pretty sure he's talked about wanting to kill Magnus off at the beginning before but he mentioned that it was only at the end of petals to the metal he actually realized he wanted Magnus to live, bc Hurley had to sacrifice herself to save Magnus bc Magnus had been so reckless, that hit Travis really hard. Travis realized that Magnus' recklessness was getting people hurt and so Magnus did too, so Magnus become a bit more cautious and took up rogue training to try not to get anyone killed again
Dust
Dust wasn't designed to be anything more than a one off and the workload was completely unsustainable, the document of notes for dust was about 100 pages and only about 10% of it got used
The reason Travis loved it so much was bc it was a mystery and he found it really fun
Commitment
Clint would love to revisit commitment, but probably not in podcast form bc he didn't find himself really being in the moment as much bc of all the different things he had to keep track of, he'd like to see a comic adaptation/continuation if possible
It was based of a comic he wrote that never got published bc the company producing it failed (he still cashed his paycheck) so he reused it bc he still liked it a lot, it was about how America was founded as a monarchy instead of a democracy and what that changed in the usa's (united sovereignty of america's) history, and how people now were fighting to establish a democracy. Also there were cowboys and spaceships and other cool stuff he put in there bc he liked it
General adventure zone
The reason why they're are able to do romantic relationships w/o being weirded out by it (they joke about it but they don't actually care) is bc it's never done in an explicit or sexual way and since it's the decision the characters would make to pursue the relationship then that's the decision they make. He reframed it as it wouldn't be weird if a family were writing a script together and there was a romance and one person wrote lines for one character and the other wrote lines for the other. He did mention that two siblings playing characters in a relationship as actors on screen wouldn't be cool though
They sometimes get comments that some of the stuff they do is "fanservice," but they feel that they owe their success to their fans and they owe some to them
They are both aware of and proud that Justin is the best at character creation, Clint specifically really was talking about how Justin's strong suit is definitely character creation and characterization
General mcelroy stuff
They walked pretty close to me when they entered the stage room for the q&a and like… they're short, like shorter than you think
Travis referred to his unborn child as "baby dod" (I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure) which I looked up and is a nickname for George, and given with their older kid being named Barbera and nicknamed BeBe and Travis talking before about how he and his wife like classic names with cool nicknames it makes sense
Travis had an earing in his right ear, I didn't get to see his left ear and I couldn't tell if it was an actual piercing or a fake, it looked really good though. Also his tinted glasses look a lot cooler irl than they do in pictures
Clint told the teenage mutant Ninja turtle story with the signatures that griffin told on mbmbam, but Clint remembered it as happening at King's Island, not Disney. This story was prompted by the question of the biggest lie he ever told his kids, and he only came clean about this a few months ago
Travis told a story about how he finished a videogame when he was younger and was so excited that he picked up a plastic knife, yelled "throwing knife!" threw it directly at Griffin who dodged it and it hit and shattered a window

This isn't intended to be a defense of green Taakos, because racist/antisemitic tropes are always always bad and need to be launched into the sun, but it is canon for D&D 5e elves to have "wildly diverse coloration", including fantastical colors like green (stated outright in the manual as the example) irt their surroundings. Imho that aspect of elves can be used in fanart without dipping into racism, but it needs to be handled responsibly in order to work, like not combining it with (1)
(2) big or buck teeth and large noses, which pushes such interpretations into being an antisemitic caricature. It’s uninspired artistically, exhausting and upsetting for someone like me with Jewish ancestry. I’m fond of certain aspects of the fanon (his teeth in particular) because they lend such life and uniqueness to fanart and now make Taako so recognizable, and it’s so nice to see that feature celebrated when it’s made me so insecure my entire life. I’m just very conflicted about it all. 😧
ah ok - like i mentioned in one of the comments on that message from earlier, at first i kinda assumed that maybe the reason green-skinned taako was so prevalent is bc green skin was one of the possible skin colors for high elves in d&d now (i haven’t played in years), but i never actually went and checked if that was the case, and in retrospect i should have checked rather than just assuming.
i also do like when people draw characters with large front teeth, gaps in their teeth, braces, overbites, underbites, etc. - since there’s such a cultural obsession, at least in the U.S., with teeth having to be absolutely perfect in order for someone to be beautiful. and i love when characters are drawn with large noses rather than little button noses, and big noses are celebrated as beautiful.
BUT like you said, even if high elves can canonically have green skin in d&d 5e, when that’s combined with other characteristics (e.g. big nose + buck teeth simultaneously) it can start to look like an antisemitic stereotype. esp when you add the pointy wizard hat - i should’ve realized it before now but that does echo the unfortunately popular image of witches as having green skin + big nose + pointy hat, which is imagery that has antisemitic origins. so when people combine all those aspects together in their character designs for taako, it taps into that antisemitic imagery even if the artist didn’t intend it or isn’t aware of the origins of that trope.  i’m not jewish, so i can’t begin to imagine how exhausting and upsetting it must be to see that stereotype crop up so frequently (and i do want to apologize again for uncritically reblogging fanart that falls into that trope).
plus, as was discussed in this post and this post, drawing taako with white or green skin is a problem in itself because (to summarize) it was established early on that he’s gonna invent tacos. and like, yeah, it started out as a goof in episode one because ‘taako’ sounds like ‘taco’, but the mcelroys have since run with it. so, depicting a character who’s gonna invent the taco as white is racist, depicting him as not being mestizo is culturally appropriative. even though the mcelroys have stated that they don’t have a canon appearance for the characters in mind, and want to leave it up to fans to see the characters how they want, it’s still a problem when white taako is the most popular headcanon (which happens frequently in fandoms where character appearance is left ambiguous by the creators - that’s why it doesn’t count as real representation re: race), and headcanoning taako as white IS actually a problem considering he’s gonna invent tacos. like, when they made that canon, it became obligatory to consider him mestizo. (which is also something i should have realized before now.)
and like - the mcelroys are clearly not against making certain aspects of the characters canon - e.g. lup is stated to be canonically trans, taako is stated to be canonically gay. which is GOOD, bc like with race, when sexuality and gender identity are left ambiguous, that’s not real representation and the most common headcanons are always gonna be straight & cis - i always prefer creators to say outright that characters are LGBTQ+, because otherwise you know most headcanons and fan interpretations are gonna be straight + cis and straight/cis ppl will harass anyone with LGBTQ+ headcanons, it happens all the time. so, since the mcelroys are willing to make other marginalized identities canon, there’s no reason they can’t say, “yeah, actually, we’re gonna say that taako has a canon race”.
and i really hope they address it, since they’ve seemed willing in the past to be open to criticism  - e.g. i appreciated that in one of the ttazz episodes, griffin owned up to the bury your gays trope showing up in the petals to the metal arc - when i first listened to that episode, i felt betrayed and let down. i just got into taz a couple weeks ago and binged the whole thing over the span of a few days, so it wasn’t long after that episode that i heard the ttazz episode where he acknowledged that screwup. hearing him own up to it actually put me more at ease, because now that he’s aware that that’s a Thing, recognized it as a problem, and apologized for it, i have more hope that it won’t happen again. if that makes any sense.
sorry, i’m rambling. anyway, i’m glad that this is a discussion and i’m grateful for people taking the time and energy to talk to me and the fandom at large about it.
