It's Not A Phase
Tumblr media
Summary: You've been dating Wanda for a while now, long enough that she wants to introduce you to the Avengers. Common room photos, however, reveal a side to her that you'd never seen before... a certain emo side.
Word Count: 1288
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Warnings: mentions of killing people, but generally just fluff!
A/N: you can blame @family-house-of-m for this one

Very few things in this world feel as untouchable, unobtainable, and awe-inspiring as this; the architecture of the tower is symbolic, in a way, touching the sky like a beacon of hope.
But from where you stand in the street, dwarfed by its massive, looming shadow, you've never felt so insignificant. You shove your hands deep into your pockets, huddling in on yourself despite the warm summer air, as you wait for your girlfriend to appear.
When she does, she arrives like the blossoming buds in the park, a ray of colour and joy emerging from steely grey. Just like on a walk among the flowers, you feel yourself relax upon seeing her.
You smile and open your arms for an embrace that she willingly falls into, then she giggles into your neck.
"You look beautiful, sweetheart," you murmur when she pulls back, though your arms still drape over her shoulders. It's the truth too, with her long hair flowing free and swaying slightly in the light breeze, down to her coral and white sundress trailing her every turn. She's beautiful, and you want her to know it.
She takes your praise with a blush, pushing herself closer to your chest until your sporadic heart rate catches her attention.
"Are you nervous?"
"They're intimidating," you defend.
"They're harmless when you know them. But I'd fight any one of them if they made you uncomfortable," she promises, "and I'd win."
You know she's telling the truth, as – you assume – her team knows too. While your girlfriend may be the embodiment of summer and light, you know what she's capable of against those who hurt her loved ones.
"Getting through today without a fight is a goal I didn't expect to need."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she apologises, though you're quick to reassure her it's not a true concern. "They're going to love you, I think. Really, I'm the one who should be getting nervous."
"I don't plan to ditch you for your family; what else is there to be concerned about?"
"Oh great, another worry I didn't expect to need," she grumbles, a smile teasing her lips at the callback to your previous words. You scoff and playfully push at her shoulder with a shake of your head. She grins and pulls herself back into your arms. "It's…something else, but you'll see it when we're up there."
"Is my sweet superhero girlfriend hiding a deep secret?" you say with a fake gasp, playing into the act until she grabs your hand and pulls you into the building. "Something scandalous?" you tease again while you stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the elevator. You know without looking that she rolls her eyes, but you still don't get an answer out of her.
She interlocks her fingers with yours again just before the elevator pings, signalling your arrival at the destination. She takes a deep breath and you fear she's settled your own nerves at the expense of her own; you squeeze her hand and let her lead you forward into the common room.
"She's back everyone!" The yell takes you by surprise and before you know it you've jumped away from the voice and into your girlfriend, who shoots a glare at the laughing redhead.
"Natasha, this is Y/N. Y/N, Natasha."
"Um, nice to meet you," you greet, moving forward to shake her hand despite the flush of embarrassment lingering on your face.
Natasha clasps your hand, returning the greeting with a polite "pleasure to meet you too". Even if her smirk never fades and she tracks her eyes first over you, then over your girlfriend.
You cast a nervous glance behind you, before stepping back to your girlfriend's side; she smiles encouragingly at you, which fades when her gaze falls back to Natasha.
"Where are the others?"
"On their way, I'd assume. Did you not hear me shout for them?"
"We heard," the girl beside you huffs, drawing another smirk out of the older woman.
Natasha turns to you again, "they really are all excited to meet you, Y/N. Wanda's told us so much about you."
Before you can ask about what she's said, the room suddenly crowds with an influx of Avengers, all talking over each other to introduce themself to you first. Red wisps wrap around you and pull you free from the crowd to stand slightly behind her, the witch putting herself between you and the team until they prove they can act reasonably.
They don't take the hint and Natasha notices the growing stress of both you and your girlfriend, so she drops the teasing act in order to command the crowd into a line. You're surprised by the rapid change in pace from her drawing enjoyment from your fear and embarrassment to defending you against the rabid Avengers hoard. Wanda doesn't seem quite so shocked, as if she knew Natasha's allegiance all along – of course, that is very possible, considering they're teammates while you'd only met the redhead five minutes before.
Thanks to the assassin's work, however, you're soon able to greet each Avenger one by one, all with an opinion on your relationship with Wanda ranging from: "She's been so much happier since knowing you," to "Why on earth would you date my sister?"
The latter came, of course, from Pietro, Wanda's older twin brother. He took his self-assigned role as Wanda's protector very seriously: testing your grip on the handshake, glaring from across the room, and criticising his sister in the expectation that you'd say wonderful things about her to prove him wrong. You expect the "I'll hurt you if you hurt my sister," talk to come any day now, especially if you end up hanging out in the Avengers tower more frequently.
Regardless, he seems to approve for now, nodding his head and letting you walk farther into the common space, where you notice a very interesting picture up on the wall. You step closer almost without thinking, and certainly without comprehending your girlfriend's hesitant interruption behind you.
You turn back to her with a wide grin across your face and a sparkle in your eyes that she can't help but smile at, even if her eyes display a tense dread waiting for your reaction.
"Did my girlfriend…" you begin, edging back towards her, "my sweet, summer girlfriend… have an emo phase?" You're standing right in front of her now, foreheads practically touching as you interlace her fingers in yours, grinning knowingly.
"It's not a phase," Pietro teases, though his mouth is promptly shut in a red mist.
"Yeah, she's still emo-" Tony continues in his place. He is silenced too, but your eyes widen and Wanda realises that it's too late.
"Not so summery after all, huh?" you whisper for only her to hear.
"Not with them."
"I love getting to see that side of you." You punctuate it with a kiss, before speaking up for the whole team to hear you again. "Was that the big secret?" She nods. "Oh, my love, you didn't have to worry about that, I'll stand by you through any style you choose. I thought it was going to be that you'd killed someone or something!"
"...I mean, I have done that," she says bluntly. You look up at the team to see if she's joking, but they're all in various stages of thought themselves: slight grimaces, scratching heads, slow nods, and all avoiding eye contact.
"You all have, haven't you?" you ask.
"Missions aren't without their casualties," comes Natasha's reply; her voice is flat, but you can see the strained nonchalance with which she shrugs and you pull Wanda closer.
"I'll love you no matter what, even through your big, dark, emo secret."

Tumblr media
I AM CURSING YOU FUCKBAGS TO 1000 YEARS OF OWOFIED NONSENSE. I HAVE TO SUFFER, NOW YOU HAVE TO SUFFER WITH ME.
Update:
Tumblr media
All this effort and it doesn't even work. I'm not mad, just disappointed. Current theory is that I didn't include an important part of it in the while loop. The bot scans new posts, and I'm not gonna re-post this for the second time. It's only been actually tested two or three times including this try, and I'm keeping this as a sort of devlog. Update 2:
I restarted the OAuth apps that I made earlier today (an OAuth callback server to catch the keys, and another OAuth thing to generate the Authorization verifier). I worked almost all day to get these two to work together. The API ended up sending this error, and I don't know what it means, but it doesn't throw any errors client-side. Here's the error it throws. {'meta': {'status': 429, 'msg': 'Limit Exceeded'}, 'response': [], 'errors': [{'title': 'Limit Exceeded', 'code': 0, 'detail': 'Minor hiccup. Try again.'}]} Like, okay, great. Now I gotta actually look at the documentation and find out what this magic gibberish means, because this could relate to all those times I tried to authenticate, OR I hit the daily limit on posts seen by my bot, which I highly doubt. Update 2.5 after some research, I've learned absolutely nothing. That error code is a giant ball of nothing that basically says I exceeded a rate limit, but doesn't give any explanation as to which rate I exceeded. Thanks, Tumblr. At least Reddit threw client side errors that you didn't have to go to a broken API console to see. Fuck all of you, and I'll see you tomorrow.
Side note: I am surviving off one breakfast pizza from Casey's, one Pipeline Punch, one grape flavored 3D, 4mg Estradiol, 50mg Spironolactone, and I currently have 100mg Progesterone dissolving in my stomach, which at this point, might actually kill me. It's only 9:36 at the time of writing this, but it feels like I've been working on this for days. This is to say that I may have missed something super obvious, and if that's the case, well, I'll leave tomorrows problems to tomorrow's me.
Update 3
Just woke up and re-ran all the assorted programs just to get a fresh start. I'm still getting that error code, but more importantly, my access token and secret changed? I'm not expert when it comes to stuff like this, but I though tokens and secrets are constant and specific to apps. I can't actually test this thing until the API lets me through. Update 3.5
Found the error code. It wasn't way too hard, but it means my bot probably did something way too much yesterday and I have no idea what. It works on the server's clock and goes by callendar day. This means that if a bot hits the error code at 11:59 PM, it can hit it again at 12:00 AM. For an error 429 to happen, any one of the following has to trigger it.
300 API calls per minute, per IP address.
18,000 API calls per hour, per IP address.
432,000 API calls per day, per IP address.
1,000 API calls per hour, per consumer key.
5,000 API calls per day, per consumer key.
250 new published posts (including reblogs) per day, per user.
250 images uploaded per day, per user.
200 follows per day, per user.
1,000 likes per day, per user.
10 new blogs per day, per user.
20 videos uploaded per day, per user.
60 minutes of total video uploaded per day, per user.
So I can't test this until the server's calendar deems it a new day Update 4
It still doesn't work, but I am one step closer. Because of Tumblr's broken-ass console, I've had to find an alternate way to get an OAuth key. It turns out I was using a temporary access key, which is why it changed when I re-ran everything. I had to do this by using two other scripts. One of them is Tumblr's interactive console on Github , and the other one was a Yaml parser because boy do they like to encrypt. This has been my morning so far. Day two and 5 scripts later, just to finally have something that I should've had at the start.
Update 4.5
Tumblr media
I FINALLY GOT AN API RESPONSE!!! LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Update 4.5.5
I have implemented a feature that makes the thing wait for a second then search for any comments with a timestamp older than the last time it waited and has the right keyword in the 196 tag. I have obviously accidentally wasted all my API tries today, but testing begins again tomorrow. You will fear my wrath soon enough. Update 5
Tumblr media
Decided to check up on the bot, and ran straight into this wall of text. It looks like blog info? Some of those links take me to profile headers. This isn't a static thing either, it updates every 20 seconds like clockwork. Because I made it update every 20 seconds like clockwork. I think this means it's testing time. Wish me luck. Breaking News. Didn't work, but we're a lil bit closer. Again.

Now As For Olaf's Frozen Adventure...
I Honestly Have No Clue Why Everyone Complained About This When It Was In Theatres, This Is A Great Christmas Special And Short, The Story Was Sweet The Songs Aside From The Flemminggrad Song (Which I Felt Didn't Belong Among The Other Songs In The Special And Wasn't In The Same Caliber As Those) Were Pretty Good And I Say Ignore The Haters And See It Now!
Till Next Time, This Is Duke, Signing Off...

THOMAS SANDERS SPOILERS!!!
Let's be fair, everyone is talking about the cutesie moments of Roman and deceit "flirting" across the courtroom. THAT'S NOT TODAY ON THIS BLOG. If you REALLY wanna see if this is true or feel it may be, rewatch the video or something. If it feels so important to tag Thomas or "@ thatsthat24" that's all up to you. IN A REBLOG, FOLKS, as I myself would never pull him away from what he's doing.
This is about the sentencing. Yes, you read that right.
The sentencing is the ending moment of the court debate in which Roman is forced to sentence Thomas for his alleged crimes. Whilst, we all are aware that he was "not sure what he was doing", he made a memorable choice to me. Throughout the video it is a debate about whether to attend a wedding(Selfless) or attending a callback(Selfish). In the beginning, it is quickly made known of Deceit's presence as he acts out of character for the regular Logan(Logical thinking/Left brain). As Thomas realizes that Deceit perhaps has a reason to be here, he is allowed to stay. Ensue the debate.
The others believe Deceit is merely trying to get Thomas to admit to being a bad person. This, however, is not the case. In fact, even Deceit says so. It's easy for them to excuse as Deceit being Deceit. Deceiving them into the assumption that there was more. However, littered through the courtroom debate reveals that even the others understand that there is more to it. In comes an analysis of it.
Deceit questions Virgil(Anxiety) as a witness, causing Virgil to state clearly "I'm no beacon of truth". Then again, who is, right? However, later on, in a scene with Roman(Creativity/Passion) and Patton(Morality/Honesty), conduct a small acting scene. Upon asking Roman's opinion on the details of it, he responds that it "would not bother him" and that it "doesn't matter". That humans are entitled to their own emotions, and not always to be tethered to acting on the behalf of others. That they live their own lives, and whilst we wish to indulged in their approving presence, we cannot force them. If a person would not be content, they should not be forced to attend a wedding.
All the while, Deceit is nodding and smiling. After all, he isn't after guilt-tripping Thomas. Earlier on(yes this is all jumbled, apologies.) Deceit even questioned a very confused and surprised Logan. Upon asking his role in Thomas' personality, he stated that he is indeed more than just his logical thinking. He indulges in the other things he does, including primary oversight of the language center, director of activities for the right arm, and punctual behaviour on Thomas' behalf. When asked of his plans for the date of both the callback and the wedding, it is made clear that Logan himself prioritized the callback. Thomas himself stated that he was more interested in the callback, and that he was a bad person who was willing to deceive his friends to get away from the wedding. Believing it fulfilled Deceit, he made it clear that he was a "bad, selfish" person. Patton even makes it clear that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing. He is trying his best to be there for Thomas. To steer him down a selfless path. Believing what he wants to be fact. Even telling Thomas "I'm sorry I lied to you. I just told you what I wanted to be true." Thomas forgives and admits it wasn't Patton's fault at all for his actions. When found guilty, Thomas looks to Roman for a sentencing for his crimes. Roman, confused, and torn between emotions, asks what it means. When told that it a punishment or least favourable decision for the accused, he sentences Thomas to attend the WEDDING rather than the callback. While, we all could say it was a punishment to himself by choosing the wedding, he also punishes Thomas.
This entire ordeal greatly upset Deceit, which confuses the others, even Thomas. They say "isn't this what you wanted? Me to admit I'm a bad person?" And Deceit is fuming. It was not his intention at all. In fact, the opposite. He wanted to get Thomas to understand that he isn't a bad person for attending the callback. It wouldn't make him selfish, and can easily be explained away. He makes it known throughout the case that Lee and Mary Lee shouldn't stop Thomas from achieving his dreams. That they shouldn't hold him back. He believes Thomas should be able to admit that he had a callback. That passion can sometimes interfere with morality, and that it can be good for you mentally in some cases. He never seems to get that point across, but decides not to press the matter further, growing sly once more.
What do I gain from this? Not just "listen to deceit you jerks" or "Deceit can be good" or even "lying is sometimes okay". What I get is that there IS more to Deceit. As Logan and Roman unconsciously side with Deceit, it is made clear. It wasn't Deceit convincing or manipulating them to believe him. It was them unknowingly understanding his point. As told from Logan, he is not JUST one thing. There is more to every side. Deceit was trying to spare Thomas an increase in his depression. He was trying to HELP. Yet, they pushed him aside and didn't believe or trust him due to preconceived ideas of him. Due to his name literally meaning "lies", they thought every word was(as Logan would put it) Falsehood. Yet Deceit is part of every one of them in a small way. Even Patton and Logan. It's easy to see that even "emotionless" sides like logic can prioritize things their creator wants more. Like the callback. Despite having known about the wedding far longer, Thomas prioritized the callback. It was important to him. So it was important to Logan. Thus, being on the calendar instead of the wedding.
Deceit isn't bad here. He's just misunderstood. Misinterpreted. Cast aside as a liar. This cruel, honest mistake could cost them to lost Deceit's merciful kindness. Though, he is not bad. Merely...painfully helpful. When Thomas sees him, he knows he's lied. He knows he's either received or delivered misinformation. Deceit is helpful. Not "evil".
But I suppose that's all I have. A thing I've thought of in the shower. I hope you've enjoyed your stay. While you're here, why don't you check out my blog? Hit that heart button, don't forget to reblog, and if you like this and want to see more, don't hesitate to hit that big ol' FOLLOW button on my blog? Until the next theory. I'll catch ya on the flipside!
