of course! and congrats!!!

new l!fting tip #1: tumblr 101

no tags!!! do not tag ur posts, it makes it easier for non-l!fters to find and report l!fters

censor out brands and l!fting terms!! such as dn@, 3B, etc. (dn@ is did not arrive and 3B is empty box!!! different l!fting methods)

never ever put any defining objects in your photos if you are gonna post! make sure its the haul and ONLY the haul.

remove exif data from your photos so they can’t be traced, personally i dont do think bc im lazy but you should!

don’t put your total in your bio! i used to do this bc i liked to tell ppl i saved $20k-$30k over the year but it’s not smart to flaunt that you’re over the felony limit!

next, #2: how to lyft

so you’ve already completed your first lyft (woohoo proud of u!!) but how can you go about being safer and smarter?

my first tip is always scan the school for cameras! be sneaky tho don’t like just stare at the ceiling, but yk get a feel for how many cameras, what type, and what direction they’re facing. most places are gonna have the dome cameras, those are the worst because they see in every direction. always always try to body block if possible. either get someone else to block you or duck behind something while you’re concealing. better to not be caught on cam!!

nobody in that store is your friend, remember that. always assume that customers are plain clothes LP (disguised security) and always assume that sales associates WILL rat you out. don’t think “oh well it’s just me and one other person in the aisle it’ll be fine” because it’s gonna be the one time it’s not fine.

on that note, be kind to everyone. this isn’t just a lyfting tip it’s a rule i live by but just be kind. they’re gonna suspect you much less if you smile and answer questions and compliment them if you feel so inclined, just be a nice person. i believe this is one of the reasons i’ve never been caught, i’m just very friendly.

concealing!!! where to conceal? i personally like using my bag most often. your bag is important too!!! i use one off amazon (you can type like kawaii heart school bag and it’ll pop up, its black and has a big heart cut out for pins) but i dont have any pins because i dont want it to be too identifiable. its purse enough for people not to tell me to take it off (a lot of places don’t allow backpacks) but big enough to fit a LOT of stuff. structured bags are always a good idea too! that way people won’t be able to tell if you’ve put anything in there. i like to conceal in aisles without cameras most often, but if i have to body block sometimes i’ll put stuff up my sleeves first! another idea is to use a shopping bag from another store. this way people will think you’ve just already bought stuff! the target ones are my favorite since they’re opaque<3

onto the next section, #3: all about tags

de-tagging is definitely a more experienced lyfting practice but you can definitely start with rfids!!

rfids are gonna be the little metal wires in plastic, paper, or sticker tags. these are very common and you’ll see them at places like w4lmart or t4rget. these are easily removable by either cutting them off or disabling them with a magnet. you don’t NEED any tools while lyfting, but some of them can come in handy. if you do find yourself with a magnet, to disable rfids you just need to swipe your magnet against the tag. if you don’t have one, simply cut the metal wire in half. you can use scissors or nail clippers or cuticle nippers or whatever you might have!! if you can’t cut them, simply remove them and i personally stick the tag in the pocket of a really ugly item on clearance so that it hopefully goes unfound for a while!

hard tags! hard tags are any tag from the solid tags you find usually on clothes to spider tags you find on electronics or wire tags on jewelry at hot topic, etc. these all require tools to remove. some will require a magnet, others will require hooks, but it’s definitely worth looking into if you decide to branch out on your journey.

brief mention, #3.5: booster bags!

booster bags are small bags lined with many layers of foil to prevent signals from reaching the towers. just in case you didn’t know, towers are the tall sensors by the front door when you walk in! with a booster bag, you can put any kind of tagged item you want, zip it up, and walk out without beeping. you need many layers however!! the way to test if your bag works it by putting your cell phone in there and asking someone to call you. if the call goes through, there aren’t enough layers!! once the call doesn’t go through you’re set! this however is a more advanced trick so please be careful if you’re gonna try this!

lastly, #4 online “shopping”!

so you’ve heard of dn4ing or empty boxes, well lemme tell you what it all means! did not arrive is when you purchase an item, wait for it to arrive, and then message the carrier and tell them it never arrived. typically our goal here is to get a refund, but any times they wont be as easily persuaded and you’ll end up with a replacement instead. however it’s not impossible and many places are easier others. if you think you wanna try this, she!n or am4zon are a good place to start!! if she!n opens an investigation, it’s just a bluff, go with it!

empty box is another form of online lyfting, it’s when you tell the carrier that your item arrived with nothing in it. the process is similar to the first one, message the carrier etc. however just claim that it’s an empty box!

i mean i also read it because a friend whos rly into queer SFF fiction circles recced it but she did kinda lead with "the writer used to write hs fanfic...tasmyn..taz...?" to which i replied

of COURSE I read the locked tomb because i heard taz had written a book. of course. ill consume most any media made by a beloved homestuck bnf. thats also why i played undertale. and read like..snotgirl. and idk... watched the new dub of neon genesis evangelion.

if u made homestuck fanwork 10 years ago and havent even made it since chances are I still remember and I love you for it.

sdlkfhsg its funny you sensed that because that drawing did in fact start kinda more........ well, I'd be lying if I said my hands never wrought a drawing toeing over the pg-13 line LOL...

NOT to say i have a secret stash of porn or anything. in general im more interested in the implication of sexuality or mature themes over any explicit depiction. like everything i draw is so softcore itd almost feel silly to make a nsfw acc for anything.

but im not rly jumping to post anything on main either bc i get the sense i have a lot of kids in my social media following. it varies from site to site and fandom to fandom but the themes in my work often circle around childhood, coming of age etc and in general i like stories about kids so the fandoms i draw for have a lot of kids in them. even stuff like IT (stephen king) which is about kids but isn't necessarily for kids.. there were a lot of kids in that fandom lol.

actually thats why ive been censoring swears in comics lately because the tmnt fandom comes across to me as a little young...IDK I've had MULTIPLE people ask me what "sodomize" means because of the joke in this post and I'm like... I Cannot be the one to explain this to you. you have to look it up on your own klfsdhsdg like i wouldn't be doing this if i were doing a comic for mgs or even homestuck wherein the characters textually swear constantly LOL but sometimes u gotta change tacks depending on the faces u see in the crowd yknow.

i HAVE been thinking abt drawing nsfw of sunspot/richard rider/kobak from x-men red just because that comic seemed to be really asking for it. who knows.. if the need rly arises maybe my separate account policy will change.

its rly more a matter of the fact that i havent read/watched much of any other iterations... im sure id like most lol. I like most things related to my interests regardless of quality. i rly like the marvel ultimate alliance games for instance. sometimes seeing my fave guy is enough he doesnt have to be well written LOL. i dont exactly have a wealth of free time tho thats the real impediment.

i did watch the 2007 movie on new years eve and found it quite charming overall. and i have read about 30-40 issues between the mirage and idw comics. still feels like im barely scratching the surface but i liked em. i rly want to read all the sophie campbell stuff bc i think her work is interesting. jason aaron will be a mixed bag i think lmao. i say as the worlds biggest Wolverine and the X-Men (2011) fan.

hmm this is kinda hard bc i feel like i naturally draw very loose and the hard part for me is tightening it up. maybe some suggestions tho...

1) hand excercises. i think its easy to forget this when many artists sit in front of the computer all day but drawing is a physical activity u do with ur actual...bodys...muscles lol. if u feel urself tightening up it might help to strech (any google search for "artist hand excercises" should yield good results) or do a page of loose practice strokes like..big circles. long lines. scribbles. that kinda thing. whatever feels good for ur hand. this is also just good to do as a general warm up before u sit down for any drawing sesh.

2) draw further away from the canvas. as a general rule...when ur painting traditionally you do the big strokes with your whole arm outstreched and a long handled brush. and when you do the details its smaller wrist movements and a shorter handled brush. so it might help to take a step back or push back from ur chair a little.. or hold ur tablet a little further away. and hold your pen further away from the nib.

3) change mediums / brush types. some brushes and mediums are more suited to loose sketching and some more inclined towards detail work. so changing ur tool could help. also! i personally have this problem where sometimes if im using a brush i feel really familiar with the pressure to make a "good" "finished" "perfect" drawing is greater... if i want to force myself to loosen up ill switch to a tool i dont use as often so it feels like the pressure is off. a lot of times for me this is switching from digital to traditional. but sometimes its switching from a small pen to a big marker. or a smooth pen to a textured one. or a nice brush to a shitty dried up marker.

but also every body is different so i dont think these tips will work for everyone. u should listen to what ur body and mind tell u and how drawing feels to you

bro just sign up and set it up i dont think theres much to it... i dont rly think too much abt my itch.io store because its digital goods so u just upload the file and let it do its thing. no distribution work needed on ur part. youll notice i barely even advertise my itch unless i have smth new on there lol.. its easy. but good luck!!!

idk if im the best person to ask this im more a comic fan than i am a comic professional... a comic hobbist.

well. scott mcclouds understanding comics and making comics are good books on the craft. i think i had to buy them for a class in art school once.

other than that idk just keep at it. comics are really laborious i think for a lot of people the hardest part is sitting down and doing it.

i think a lot of people have a very instinctive understanding of how to read comics and what they look like so whatever you think seems like good way to tell the story you have in mind, its probably right. if u get stuck, study comics that have done something similar. most people in comics are relatively self taught and actually it can be problematic bc you can tell when a lot of comic artists are all copying the same like 5 old white guys LMAO. but on the flip side if you make sure to reference and study broadly your comics will almost assuredly feel unique.

sorry im responding to this anyways. this is just a really nice ask. i like when people reference my older work bc i feel like sometimes theyre subtly implying it wasnt very good LMAOOO. but its true! at least compared to the work i make now ^^ and the fact that im still making art is whats keeping me from being embarassed abt how much of my old art just floats around online lmao im never ashamed to be growing and learning. isnt that a nice thought <3

Jeff the killer is a stone cold serial killer, he shows no remorse for his actions, nor any compassion for his victims. He finds pleasure in the pain of others, and takes even more pleasure in inflicting it

Never in a thousand years would anyone think he'd be absolutely head over heels for someone.

But here you are

When Jeff first saw you, he felt a little threatened by you.

The way you towered over him, plus your menacing glare was enough to make anybody uncomfortable.

At first, he'd treat you how he treated everyone.

He'd tease you, steal your things, and start fights with you, both verbal and psychical.

And each time you'd defend yourself, or mess with him, it'd only fuel his hatred for you.

But that changed when he got assigned to go on a mission, with you

it was a simple mission, break into a few houses and kill a few people, you know, basic stuff.

Jeff did the dirty work, as you kept watch.

Everything was going smoothly until you got to the last house, which Slenderman had specifically warned you about.

(Slenderman never really told you why exactly he needs those people killed, but he does tell you what they look like, and how dangerous they may be.)

"maybe we should go in toget-" you were saying, before you were rudely interrupted, making you furrow your brows

"no f*cking way." He scoffed

"you just keep watching, I'll handle it"

"wouldn't want you to get hurt.." he said sarcastically, before walking upstairs, to the master bedroom where the victim was.

You looked at your watch, nearly 5 minutes passed, and he still wasn't done.

You huffed before heading up stairs to check on him.

*CRASH*

You quickly picked up your pace, and you could feel anger bubbling in your stomach thinking of how much he regularly messed stuff up

Once you saw the door, you quickly opened it to see Jeff on the ground, being violently choked by a buff older man.

He was kicking, and scratching at the man, but he wasn't letting up.

The room was completely trashed, there was blood on the walls, and bed.

You couldn't see a wound on Jeff, (except for his ego) so it must've come from the old guy.

He was clearly occupied with Jeff, you took this moment to tackle him.

The old man winced in pain as his back hit the hardwood floor, once he processed what was going on, with one swift move he kneed you in the abdomen as hard as possible

You groaned in pain, as you rolled over onto the floor and quickly placed your hand on the spot he hit.

He wasted no time to get up, and kick you in the stomach.

he pulled his leg back, this time aiming for your face, but before he could land another blow, Jeff jumped onto his back and started biting, punching, and yelling.

His attacks were uncoordinated, and fast, like that of a wild animal.

The man tried to pry Jeff's arms from around his neck, but to no avail.

you ignored the pain in your stomach, and punched the man right in the jaw, causing a tooth to fly out.

The man tried to hit you back, but missed, you then hit him in the lower abdomen, where Jeff had previously stabbed him.

he groaned, before falling back against the window, crushing Jeff under his weight & creating a crack in the window.

"AUGH" Jeff yelled, as he let go of the man's neck.

the man attempted to stand up, before you punched him in the gut

The man winced, you saw as Jeff quickly crawled away from him, and over to the side.

He looked up at you, his face was seething with anger.

(the old guy, not Jeff)

he attempted to stand up, by pushing himself up the window.

*crack*

the window started splintering

Before he could fully stand up, the window busted, causing the man to fall through it.

"OH" Jeff yelled, as he crawled towards the windowsill.

You walked towards the window, and peeked out to see the man's body lying limp, and lifeless across his own driveway.

"what now.." Jeff muttered

"I.. I don't know" you stared at the body in disbelief

After a moment of silence, Jeff sighed.

"thanks,," he said in a tone that was almost a whisper

"what was that?" You looked at him and slightly smiled

He simply stared at you, and frowned

"well.." you huffed as you grabbed jeffs arm and pulled it around your torso

"we gotta go before the police get here" you said as you made your way down the stairs, still holding onto Jeff.

once the two of you made it out of the front door, you started to speak again

"you know-" you paused before stepping into the sidewalk

"that old guy really f*cked you up" you said with a slight snicker

"and look what he did to you" He yelled with no regard with who would hear him

This would cause the two of you to argue all the way to the car.

The ride home was quiet, the only noise coming from the radio.

Jeff decided to ride in the backseat of the car, so he could take a nap while you drove, since he was "more injured"

In all honesty, he pretended to be asleep.

He just couldn't quit staring at you, in what he tried to convince himself was annoyance, or hate and not something else.

A while after, Jeff found himself thinking about you more, and more.

Not just about how much he disliked you, and the things about you that annoyed him, but about how soft and warm you were, also how tough you can be, how you won't take sh!t from anyone, not even him.

and how although you annoyed him, he enjoyed being around you.

but he also thought about how much he hated seeing you around anyone else

He was conflicted, he had spent months holding nothing but contempt for you, and then suddenly you come and 'save' him and he can't stop thinking about you.

It was seriously p!ssing him off

And the more he was around you, the more his feelings grew.

It took a year for him to realize that he had feelings for you, and another year for him to confess them.

The problem with Disney right now...

I know I usually state my opinion on movies I see recently and give reviews but sometimes I give my opinion on movies that are going to come out soon. So, I heard about the unnecessary sequels for Moana and Inside Out, which are great movies but they don't need sequels. In all honesty, after seeing what they did with Wish, I think Disney should take a break on making animated movies for a while! Not forever, just for a short time.

Okay, so I think we all can tell that they used A.I on Wish. It's not the animation and stuff, it's just the story! I even think the songs were written by real people, it's purely the story that feels A.I generated. Watch them use A.I on Moana 2, Inside Out 2, and Frozen 3... oh gosh that would break my heart to se them ruin the sequels with A.I. I don't consider myself a Disney fan, in fact, even as a kid I wasn't a Disney-movie kid, but I did have a Frozen phase back in the day. Every kid had a Frozen phase. Inside Out is okay but it was kind of emotional, but the first Moana was really good. The thing is, Frozen is based off the Snow Queen while Moana and Inside Out aren't based off any fairytales and are Disney's own original ideas for once. Plus, I think they're only making these sequels because their original ideas like StrangeWorld and Wish are failing so they're proffiting off live action remakes and making sequels of already existing characters because they're desperate. They're just so greedy and can't stand to see the competitors, who are smaller animation companies, beat them!

I'm mostly boycotting Disney (and have been ever since I saw Zootopia) but I'll watch Disney movies pirated on free websites like Actvid and Moviesjoy. The only thing I like from 2024 Disney is Kiff! LITERALLY KIFF! KIFF! Of all things, I never thought KIFF would be the only thing that's stopping me from abandoning Disney all together. I don't use Disney plus but the website I watch Kiff on doesn't have the recent episodes and I refuse to get Disney plus. Disney should focus on stuff like Kiff and Phineas & Ferb anyway. The only good show they got on Disney channel now is Bluey and Bluey is NOT EVEN DISNEY! Bluey is an Australian show and should be seen as that, instead of having the greediest corporation in the world act like they own an Aussie show that they didn't have anything to do with. Bluey should be on PBS kids or something, not greedy Disney! Who agrees? I'm American, but If I was in Australia I'd be so mad at Disney. Disney literally censored episodes, removed episodes, and stopped the writers from throwing in a Bible reference... when they weren't even making the show! If I was in charge, Disney Channel/Disney Junior would have shows like Jungle Junction, Phineas & Ferb, Bear in the Big Blue House, Good Luck Charlie, Suite life of Zack & Cody on Deck,... ect. Basically I'd bring back everything except JESSIE because it was racist (R.I.P to Cameron Boyce tho, he wasn't a bad guy he was just on a bad show).

Anyway, Disney is on my last nerve rn, and if it wasn't for Kiff I'd hate it all together. I still do hate Disney but the only thing that keeps me from wanting it to go away is Kiff. If you haven't heard of Kiff, it's a recent show by Disney, about an orange squirrel who's really energetic (and no, she's NOTHING like Scaredy Squirrel). As far as movies go, I know for sure that I will never see another Disney movie in theaters and I encourage you too, as well. They'll end up on Actvid or Moviesjoy before they even end up on Disney plus anyway, because Disey is popular and people care enough to record it off some hidden camera in theaters. I'm not saying you have to follow in my footsteps and boycott Disney, I'm just telling you on how I do it. Like, the day they come out in theaters is the same day they end up on free websites. Plus, you don't have to waste your money if the movie is going to be bad, like how Wish ended up being bad.

So yeah, please share your thoughts! If you're a Disney fan, I'm sorry. You have to know that they've been really shady recently (they always have been shady but particularly now).

Yandere Arthur Hastings headcanons

WARNING : Drug abuse, kidnapping, stalking

A/N : I'm writing this to overcome my writer block. Then again, work kept me busy...*sighs* oh well, happy reading.

⚠️MINORS DO NOT READ THIS⚠️

Few months back, the first time he saw you was a silly, clumsy person who didn't get the job done correctly ; misplaced files, wrong censors, wrong editing and so on he couldn't keep track of. Then again, he can't be mad because he was on Joy.

He always sighs before helping you out, almost begrudgingly even though he still has many piles of old newspapers that he should get done before the deadline.

You always thanked him, something he'd actually appreciated mentally. Although, sometimes he lets himself be sarcastic towards you, even on Joy. Oh well.

In return, you offered to help him sort out his works and he flatly rejected.

You kept bugging him to let you help him, until he asked Miss Byng to have Clive that little shit help you or transfer you somewhere.

The reason you want to help him is because you have had a crush on him ever since he helped you. But, you heard from some co-workers that Arthur has a crush on a woman named Prudence.

So, you decided to make yourself a dependable person for him.

Unfortunately, Arthur keeps turning down your offer every time and starts to grow annoyed towards you.

After that, you slowly distanced yourself from him, feeling defeated and sad…pop some Joy, for God sake!

One day, you didn't show up for work. Then, day became week, week became months and months became one year you're absent from work.

Many of your coworkers think you have already gone on vacation ever since then. Arthur himself thinks so, and didn't care too much about it. All he knew was he was happy that you're gone.

But, that fateful day where he came across that newspaper about him and remembered his older brother Percy, he remembers about you too.

Where have you been? He thought. Surely you can't be dead, right?

It was decided. He will go looking for his older brother and you. Although, he was having a hard time venturing around the town. I mean, those Bobbies and Joy Doctors, honestly… Not to mention those bloody Mistresses…

But, he managed and got himself some nice skills…for safety reasons…(Yeah…not sure about that tho)

And one day, he saw you. Happy as always…but you're working at a tea shop. Chatting without any care with Bobby and the old lady. He came closer to you and said hello.

But, when he tries to make you remember him, you shake your head, telling him that he's got the wrong person. "Maybe that person was my doppelgänger?"

Something deep inside of him suddenly snapped. He was standing there, wide eyed. 'It can't be…' he repeated his thoughts over and over and over and over…

Looking at your confused face then pretty smile curved from your lips, you excused yourself and went back to working, wiping the table, leaving him there standing at his spot like an idiot.

How…how did it happen? There's no way that you could've forgotten about him within a month! His face was slowly turned into anger.

He decided to investigate why you suddenly forget about him while searching for clues about his brother.

Some weeks later, he met Sally, his ex-best friend in the alley. Honestly, he didn't expect that coming.

But, out of impulse, he tried asking her if Sally knew a person named (Y/n) came into her shop.

Sally avoided the question, and instead she asked him a favor to fetch cod liver oil.

He begrudgingly helped her and went a big length to find that goddamn oil, risking his life. By the time he got it, he immediately ran back to her shop and asked again.

Sally pursed her lips. She's shaking her head. When Arthur started to glare at her and clenching his fist, Sally sighed heavily. "Yes, they came here…asking me to make a pill that can erase their sad memories…" and went over to her table to take the black bottle from the drawer, which was labeled as "Oblivion".

Oh boy. Arthur only sees red. He took the bottles away from Sally's grasp and stormed out, leaving her blinking her eyes, not knowing anything.

He swore by the name of God, he WILL make you remember him at all cost.

And thus, his plans began…

You know that skill called Big Game Hunter? He will do anything, ANYTHING to protect you from any silly Bobby who tries to flirt with you, or any Doctor who constantly nags at you to take your Joy, despite being a big coward himself. But he didn't care anymore, big or small, he would kill them without any remorse.

Not only that, he's a stalker. He was following you around, hiding from plain sight, watching you living your life so blissfully.

Whenever you try to take your pill…somehow, a rock was thrown in your direction and knocked the bottle away from your hand. You look around to see the perpetrator, only to see the glasses flashes for a brief moment before it disappears into the darkness.

Arthur was very attentive when it comes to your needs.

Ran out of tea or coffee? He will buy/steal it and sneak into your house before he puts it on your kitchen table. Not enough money to buy food? He will slip a few pounds into your purse. Some male Wellies trying to hit on you? Yep, they'll go missing the next day.

He still does make finding his older brother his first priority, but he cares about you a little too much…

"Almost there…" he smirked when he made some crash syringe...to de-joy you.

That night, like any other night, it was quiet and the fog was thicker than before…perfect cover for him to sneak into your house with a big empty sack to carry his beloved.

He slowly went upstairs, where was your room located and lock picked the door and swung it open, quietly.

He saw your figure sleeping soundly, not aware that some lovesick man was watching you sleep, with a crash syringe gripped tightly in his hand, along with a handkerchief that had chloroform dabbed, in the dark.

Not wasting any time, Arthur brings down the syringe to your body and pushes down the liquid, instantly waking you up.

You tried to cry for help, but Arthur was fast to cover your mouth with the handkerchief and shushed you, wiping any tears from your cheeks.

"Shhh…love, it's going to be alright…I will take you away from this town. It's not safe here anymore…" he cooed as you slowly lost consciousness.

He let you fall back on the bed and got ready to put you into the sack.

After it was all done and destroyed any evidence, Arthur cradled you lovingly, knowing that you'll need him as soon as you wake up and he softly smiled.

The administrators of a public high school near the library i work at went into their collection of classic books and required reading and literally cut out all the "inappropriate" scenes in those books like not to be over dramatic but uuuhhhh i have to wonder if any member of that administration read Fahrenheit 451

My personal thought of a good way to solve all of this is to send the TV censors in and if you can't publish it on the 5:00 or 6:00 news broadcast it doesn't go into a school library.

Then again that might get books like "Night" pulled because of the whole deal in the train cars as they were being carted off to the extermination camps so maybe not.

There should be a line somewhere because I've seen sections from some of the books that got pulled and they're just straight up pornography.

Cutting passages you don't like out is how we wound up with the "Jefferson Bible" where Thomas Jefferson cut out all the bits he had issues with, namely those dealing with the divinity of Christ, which that's the point of the New Testament my guy, so that's just dumb. Remove the books or leave them in and whole.

It's all madness at this point anyhow so we might as well leave the books the way they are.

Remove the stuff that's basically straight up pornography from school libraries, someone wants to read the porn ones they'll find a way anyhow, the internet is wild like that.

But don't edit stuff out of existing book, that's just lame.

Wasn't gonna tag this originally, but if you follow me for my current chaiflower atsv fic, although it has nothing to do with it, being on the tag for atsv on AO3 has really made some things apparent to me.

Specifically how the fandom, and the fic writers on ao3 writes for the characters and their subject matter.

Now, dark fic and taboo subjects in fanfic isn't a new thing and it's never going to go away. Which is a good thing, bc the second we demonize and try to censor that kind of stuff, is the second we loose a lot of the kinds of stories we can tell.

Writing is a medium for humans to experience something with no stakes. Be it dangerous or just a good time, it helps us explore our thoughts, and feelings of scenarios we might never have to face but prepare us, or have already had to deal with and help us deal with those scenarios.

I'm also not gonna police anyone and tell em what you can and can't write fanfic about. Do whatever the hell you want, and make sure to tag your shit appropriately, it's a common courtesy and it's a bad thing to not do because even if you don't face any repercussions for it; do you really want to be the one people avoid because of a bad rep?

Moving on, let me just preference; I am an aroace person. I am also Mexican/Salvi. I think Miguel is cool complex antagonist and I'll admit he does have a sculpted ass lol. He's cool and conventionally attractive, with a neat personality people can mess around with. I get why there's a thirst for him.

But I think we should acknowledge how... He's treated by the fandom. Especially during that first week of spiderverse coming out. I don't mind smut, I just ignore it and move on with my day if smth doesn't appeal to me. But when you don't put fics under readmores, or put in tags so it's seen by everyone ur gonna have to deal with people skimming or having a base understanding of what kind of smut n stuff you're writing.

I'm not kinkshaming or anything, you do you, but it quite frankly has made me (and maybe a few others I've seen but don't quote me on that I only speak for myself.) Uncomfortable with this 'Latine Lover' trope people have stapled onto Miguel. I can imagine it's worse for his comic fans, but sometimes people really do be out here writing wish fulfillment smut fics where they're plastering their, kinda racist stereotypes and fantasies onto this Mexican character. If that was it tho? I wouldn't be making this. Because I know that eventually it would die down as time passes and we'd all move on.

Then came the flowerfang/MilesxMiguel (or any other of the spider teens) fics.

Look, again. Dark fic is a part of fandom whether you like it or not, it's up to your personal decision whether or not to engage with it. I don't. But I do think some people should be self reflecting and analyzing why these are being written at the high rate that they are and if you enjoy them or get something out of it is fine, but just be aware and critical of what you're reading and not let it cloud judgement or the actual characters' movie portrayals. It's so easy to let fannon dictate how you view characters, which are often dumbed down and stripped of their original identities for instant gratification.

When these characterizations become wildly accepted, it's often not an issue because people don't have to read it or engage with it in their own little corners. However it ends up highlighting the racism prevent in these spaces. Because to me, it feels like a lot of this is coming from white or young fic writers (although that maybe might not be the case, but I'm trusting my gut here. No shade to young writes either lol I'm close in age w the spider kids) Doing what they want with these amazing black and brown characters and low-key ruining the fun for non white fans, specifically Black and Brown fans.

Fandom is only a safe space and escapism for white fans, and anyone else is forced to carve out their own space and safeguard it from these racist depictions.

When Miguel is not being painted as a 'Latine Lover', he's a predator, or a violent monster, hypersexual Mexican man, or a creep, or someone who's unreasonably angry worthy of no redemption. It makes him so terribly black and white, and while he may be a dark gray that doesn't negate the fact his complexity is being washed away so these writers can have a clear villain who fits this view of violent Latino men hurting women, and kids.

And while I still have this view of a cool antagonist, and can block tags for my own safe experience, that doesn't fix the fact that his character is going through this fanonization with an abundance of dark fic will change perception. Things don't just disappear if they're outta sight. It's still there. With an oppressive force and sour after taste to see how bastardized he's becoming to a majority of what fics are being created and setting precedent for.

Same goes for Miles; saved by the fact he's a young, smart, skinny kid and the protag. But that doesn't spare him from his own fanonization as this meek, weak, soft, baby, cryboy who needs to be comforted or face the worst trauma ever in order to get some trauma porn/wump outta him bc that's all he can be used for apparently. Instead of the confident, heroic, creative, outgoing and friendly kid who sticks up for what's right. I can't speak for black fans and how they feel about this characterization of him. But as a latine fan?

Miles is amazing. He's funny and cool, he's young and talented, and he doesn't take anything from anybody because he's been taught right. I may not be Puerto Rican but Miles is just.... Such a good representation for other latines. So to see him be striped of these traits a lot of the time for others that have been exaggerated; clumsiness, awkwardness, emotional availability, sweet, and caring attitude taken too far it's bad.

Part of it is the racism. People see this dark skinned boy and babyfy him to make him less complex, take away the sharp edges for something soft and malleable, something more digestible and able to process for their own needs. And another part of it is;

Writing is hard.

Believe me! I'm a fic writer! It takes me a long time to write, I edit, and I go back to add or take stuff out, I rewatch or reread whatever I need to make sure I'm doing my best with these characters and somehow try not to fumble the bag with my own scenes and how I interpret their character and relationships to tell a good story to my standards.

And sometimes I still get it wrong!

Which is totally normal! Hell! You don't have to even do all that, fic writing should be fun. You wanna write that chatfic, dark fic, one shot, smutfic, fix-it? Do it! Find your creative drive and do something with it! You get better the more you try!

Sometimes people write and don't realize what they're doing. They're doing it for fun and maybe don't consider some of these problematic traits they're writing. Or they don't know how to approach the character, dumb em down so they can start easy at first, and then get comfortable writing like that instead of slowly getting better with time bc it's for fun.

I take the steps because I want to make something accurate and introspective, not everyone is like that. Even I like wild fun chatfics or crack fics once n a while to shut off my brain.

But you're gonna have to learn that not everyone is gonna like what you write. That if properly representing the characters is what you want, you take that time to put all the love and care into that writing. Putting in that extra work does wonders, and it makes you a better writer! And it creates a good space for others to feel welcomed into!

I didn't even get to how Pavitr Prabhakar is also woobified most often than not, or how discarded his girlfriend Gayatri is in favour of gay shipping (although she doesn't have much screentime, and his ships aren't with white characters so I get why it happens.), Or all the drama I didn't even know about till recently around Punkflower, and Hobie's character. But I'm getting tried so let's wrap this up;

Fandom is gonna fanon. Yes we are responsible for our own experiences and what fan content we engage in, but that doesn't mean we should also turn a blind eye to racism, problematic tropes, or bad characterization. Just because it outta site doesn't mean it's outta mind, and doesn't effect others. I'm not saying harass these creators, no. They are people and at the end of the day they're not hurting anyone and just creating like you are. Leave them be.

But what I am saying is that you have to be the change you wanna see in fandom. As cheesy as that is. You gotta create and encourage the people you do like and enjoy the works of, and foster a fandom that does more than take the easy route. With time we might just win out the bad white fanon.

Or maybe not.

But at least we tried, and we made our point.

(and for the folks who do struggle or participate in these racist tropes or portrayals and fanonized characters and realize their mistake or want to do better; I encourage you to take a step back, rewatch the movie of you can and really study the story and characters. If not? Then listen or read the posts of black and brown fans. We're not all right, and some even have bad takes, but try to broaden your circle. It'll help you make your writing better. I'm not mad, I don't hate these writers. They have their own amazing moments and fics it's great! They're not villains, they're just people doing what they think is fun. They just need a push in the right direction sometimes.)

tldr: a pann article(?) was starting shit abt an anime soobin mentioned on a live from MONTHS AGO. the anime (made in abyss) has some disturbing/horror/gore themes. he said he thought it was boring and was hesitant to recomend it to moas in the live. but in another live he had with seungkwan, he said he watched it because woozi mentioned it and then said he recommended it to sk. moas started making it a real issue, saying "if u defend him for this block me" & implying he endorsed the themes in the anime. sigh..

tonight soobins name is trending on twt dot com for something other than the seunghan live or pannchoa making shit up about him😓 apparently (because i couldnt find it) a REAL kr pann article, not flopchoa, was made resurfacing an old live of him talking about animes he's watched. one of them was made in abyss, a psychological horror anime that is meant to be disturbing.

in this live he says that its not something he wants to recommend to moas because of the themes in it. after the clip started making rounds on twt however, people brought up the fact that he'd mentioned it before and said he enjoyed it.

now lets not jump to conclusions like SOME lewsers and realize here that the anime version of made in abyss that's available in korea is highly censored. it reduced the s3xual/problematic scenes that were in the manga, and had a lot of stuff cut out of it that made it bad.

As far as I know I follow exactly two Italians and my dash is utterly FLOODED with Sanremo madness right now. xD it's fantastic I have zero clue what's going on but I kinda wanna look it up and watch

Anyway, Sanremo is the colloquial name for the Festival della Canzone Italiana (Italian Song Festival) held every year in the city of Sanremo. It lasts for five nights, with a number of artists competing to win first place in between comedy sketches and serious monologues, and is one of the longest-running tv shows still on air. The winner is supposed to represent Italy during the Eurovision Song Contest (tho they can decline if they don't feel like going) but Sanremo actually predates and even inspired ESC. The English Wikipedia page on it has more info on it, ofc.

... however, I'm pretty sure it fails to mention how Sanremo isn't just about music or even about competition. It's about political, social, and cultural discourse. It's about memes and shitposting. It's about DRAMA.

Yuugi

How I feel about this character: This card game nerd deserves all the good things to happen to him. He needs a break. Seriously.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I ship him with the Dark Magician and I 1000% blame @yearslateforyugiohshippings for this. I also think Yuugi/Jounouchi is cute and I sometimes I read Rivalship fics.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Anzu, to be honest. I personally don’t like the idea of Yuugi being the “fallback” plan for her, and I just see them more as friends as adults rather than romantic partners.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think I have any unpopular thoughts? Because I don’t think about Yuugi enough to have unpopular thoughts I’m sorry 😔

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we could have seen more of him in GX. What with him being the canonical King of Games and all, he should have had more involvement in the Dueling Academy. Then again, that could be because he was busy designing games by this point, or Seto was just super salty and never invited him. Probably the latter.

my OTP: Alliumshipping. Again, I blame @kampfkewob.

my cross over ship: He would totally have a crush on Zatanna. You know it’s true

a headcanon fact: He never returned that naughty VHS Jounouchi lent him in high school, and it was lying somewhere on a shelf, forgotten, in a closet, until his mother found it when he was a grown adult with a career abroad. Cue embarrassment when his mother sends him a care package with various belongings, VHS tape included. Yuugi sends the VHS tape back to Jounouchi as a birthday present. Jounouchi opens the birthday present in front of Mai and Shizuka. Mai laughs at the label. Shizuka secretly steals the VHS tape after the party. There is immense disappointment upon realizing everything in the video is censored.

Pegasus

How I feel about this character: He is a lanky pompous pasty elitist jerkface pretty boy with Peter-Pan syndrome who has never had to do a day’s honest work in his life, and instead of accepting the fact that life can be cruel and unfair, he broke down and retreated into occultism, cartoons, and alcoholism. 10/10 absolute favorite disasterpiece of a man I love him

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Romantically? Cyndia, Isis, and I wager Siegfried has a huge parasocial crush on him

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I do like Toonshipping as a non-romantic ship. I can see Pegasus feeling legitimately bad about everything he’s done to the Kaibas and trying to make up for it over the course of several years in little favors and grandiose gestures. While Seto had his own villain arc and can empathize on some level about motivations, I cannot imagine him ever forgiving Pegasus for what he did or having romantic feelings for him, nor do I think Seto should forgive him at all (because, as much as I do like Pegasus, I don’t think he deserves forgiveness from Seto and he isn’t owed forgiveness just because he expresses remorse). Going to bed out of anger and resentment is totally on the table tho

My unpopular opinion about this character: More headcanon than opinion, but I don't think Pegasus really knew Cyndia that well as a person. I don't doubt he loved her. What I doubt is his own memory in regards to Cyndia's own wants and needs.

He takes the time to write in his journal about his dreams and aspirations, yet despite her being the love of his life, he doesn’t write a single sentence about Cyndia’s? We don’t get anything about her hobbies, her dreams, her aspirations, her life, or even her own dialogue?

The Doylist reasoning can come down to: Takahashi and the series writers didn’t make up a backstory for Cyndia beyond her being a motivation tool for Pegasus. However, I propose the Watsonian reasoning in that Pegasus was self-centered and oblivious to what Cyndia wanted to do because he was more invested in the vision of her being his wife, instead of being invested in listening to her and paying attention to her needs as an individual.

That said, I’m still a Roseshipper and I do love this tragic ship. :’D

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: It did happen in canon, I’m just mad we didn’t get a whole episode dedicated to it: His duel with Doma-era Mai. I would have totally loved to see her talk smack and absolutely rip him a new one during their duel right before she took his soul. Listen, I love Pegasus, but after all the fuckery in Duelist Kingdom, he had it coming.

my OTP: Pegasus/Mister Crocketts.

What? Oh. Oh, I see. Just because Isis is my all time fave and I've written fanfic and drawn fanart and have several WIP folders of headcanons and theories about Sightshipping, y'all think it's my OTP.

But let’s all be real with each other: Mister Crocketts was serving Pegasus tea in bed long before he met Isis in a hotel room in Egypt. I’m just saying

my cross over ship: Not a ship, but a crossover: I feel like Pete White from The Venture Bros is a distant cousin and Pegasus calls him whenever he needs a deejay for a party.

The family resemblance is uncanny

a headcanon fact: His mother is a fiery Cajun woman who is the premiere wedding planner in all of Las Vegas, and he went to Catholic school.
