But seriously this deleted montage is really the payoff for Stede’s loss of innocence in Calypso’s Birthday. He has to make a difficult choice to protect his crew and his man and he will never be that sweet kid picking flowers again. He has spent this whole damn season proving to Ed that he can be trusted with his heart, and to the crew that he can be trusted with their lives. In these last moments of the montage we see the joy in what he has built with Ed, and his growth as a captain, and his seriousness in taking responsibility for whatever comes next. And it’s just not there in the released episode! We need the Jenkins cut.

i feel like theres some sort of loss of cultural-whimsy... as in the people who won't entertain a mythological tale because "oh c'mon that isn't real" people who dismiss any attempt at new local tales because "oh c'mon that isn't real"

Like I imagine her just desperately trying to act clueless in front of other empires and then sneakily just talking casually to them when no one else is around

ok so now I'm going to be picky and annoying.

I'm a big fan of tim drake. I'm queer, and I'm also very happy that he is also queer.

however.

i dislike that his characterization in some places has been reduced to "bi and bernard". i hope this is just a phase (pun unintentional). I love bernard. I love the representation. I love it.

but:

1. every character in wayne family adventures got one or two or more editions dedicated to their issues. tim has had one for young justice (cool!), and another for bernard (also great!). but none for him individually as a character development of some kind, mostly just as a supporting role for other people's stories.

2. most his storylines everywhere (titans show, gotham knights, even the young justice storyline kinda...) focus on his relationship or has a focus onto his relationship or his sexuality.

i know the representation is important. showcasing it is important. i love the representation. i want the representation. i LOVED the pride comics. i do. but i want storylines focused on his character. on his development as a character outside of his sexuality, on his growth and his life.

i hope they find a balance soon, like marvel did with hulkling and wiccan when they had their own storylines apart from being together.
