Let's Stay Together.
Pairing Travis Kelce x Reader
Words 2112
Warnings Some strong-ish language and some angst and fluff.
This fic is a request from @fantasywritersstuff and I loved the idea but really struggled to make Travis behave like an asshole! But I think I've done alright with this one! "Hey!! So I have an idea for a request for Travis ! I say him and the reader have a really bad fight/argument and he says something really mean and instantly regrets it and tries anything to get reader to forgive him and in the end they make up !!"
Tumblr media
Your eyes scanned over the script on the laptop screen in front of you. Your agent had sent over some scenes for a role in a new movie that the producer and director wanted to see you for and you were intrigued. You had made a name for yourself in your teenage years, starring in Disney movies, usually musical based and after a short break from acting to focus on a singing career, you were keen to delve into more mature characters.
As you read the last few lines, you heard keys jingle by the front door and when it opened, Travis walked in with his practice bag, slightly red-faced and sweaty.
"Hey baby!" He shouted through to the lounge.
You craned your neck in his direction, "Hey! I'm in here."
He made his way to you, leaning down to plant a kiss on the top of your head.
"How was practice?"
He slumped down on the sofa next to you, "Crushed it, baby. You know me, catching shit and running it to the end, man."
You smiled and rolled your eyes, returning to your laptop screen, "Same old, same old?"
"That's right." He shuffled closer, "Whatcha doing?"
"Carl sent me a movie script to look at."
He raised his eyebrows, "Oh yeah? What is it?"
You began to type a response, "It's an action, spy type thing. The role they want me for is the femme fatale sort of woman. It's pretty sexy, actually."
He rested his head on your shoulder, nuzzling into your neck, "I don't mind helping you practice for that.'
You giggled, "I'm sure you don't."
"So, you gonna do it?"
You twisted your mouth, "Maybe, I don't know. I'm asking Carl who else is involved."
"Sounds interesting, baby. You'd kill it." He rose from the sofa, "You thought about what you want for dinner?"
"No, not really."
Travis grabbed his phone from his pocket, "I can order takeout if you want?"
You smiled up at him, "Yeah, sure!"
You were just about to close your laptop when the sound of an email notification chimed. You opened your emails to see a reply from Carl.
After tapping it open, you laughed, "Oh Trav, you'll never guess who I'd be acting opposite?"
Travis stared down at his screen, "Shoot."
"Tom Brady."
There was a silent pause before Travis turned his head to you, "No way. That's crazy."
You breathed another laugh as you read from the screen, "Yeah. Apparently he's branching out into more acting and he's playing one of the male leads."
Travis furrowed his brow, "You can't be serious?"
"Yeah, that's what it says." You pointed to the screen.
"No, I mean you can't be serious about doing it?"
You jerked your head back in confusion, "Why not?"
"Because it's Brady. Babe...I can't watch you getting all freaky with some guy I used to play against. You can't do it."
"Why can't I?
You watched him as he paced the floor, "Because I don't want to see that."
"Since when do you tell me what I can and can't do?"
He stood still for a moment, holding his hands out in front of him, "I told you, I don't want to see you getting fucked by Brady."
You tilted your head to one side in defence, "There isn't even a sex scene, and even if there was, It's acting, Travis."
"It's stupid!" He raised his voice.
"Excuse me?"
"This whole, acting comeback thing that you're trying to do is so stupid. Why can't you just be happy the way things are?"
You closed your laptop quickly, "My job is stupid?"
"Yeah." He breathed as he ran his hands over his buzzed head, "No, no. I didn't mean it like that. I just meant-"
You picked up your laptop and quickly got up from the sofa, "You're an asshole, Travis."
"Baby...Y/N, I didn't mean-"
You cut him off by slamming the bedroom door shut. You could feel the anger rising in your chest and shakiness in your hands. The one person who you needed to support you was Travis. You had supported him through his years playing football but you were bored of being the trophy wife. Staying at home whilst he was away for games, cheering him on in the stands, being on his arm at events. You wanted more and your passion had always been acting.
You stepped out through the doors on onto your balcony area, holding onto the rail and breathing the fresh Missouri air deep into your lungs, desperate to calm down. You stared off into the trees, watching them move gently as you bit down on your bottom lip. You didn't turn around when you heard footsteps behind you, you weren't ready to speak to Travis yet. Instead, you continued to glare straight forward, tightening your grip on the cool metal in your hands.
Travis cleared his throat, "I ordered dinner...your favourite."
"Okay." You said plainly, with no expression in your voice.
There was a moment of silence before you felt Travis' hand on your waist. You twisted away from his touch, hearing him sigh with disappointment behind you before his footsteps signalled that he had left the balcony.
You took another deep breath, filled with hurt but also a feeling of surprise. You had been with Travis since college and married for 3 years. He knew that after a disagreement, all you needed was space. The fact that he followed you outside and attempted to touch you was confusing to you.
"He must really be sorry." You thought to yourself as you turned on your heels and walked back into the house.
As you paced towards the kitchen to make yourself a drink, you noticed that Travis was nowhere to be seen. You peered out of the window to see that his car was also gone. You shrugged your shoulder slightly and opened the fridge, reaching for some orange juice.
As you were flicking through Netflix, the front door opened and Travis walked in, holding a huge bouquet of flowers. You looked at him briefly before turning back to the TV screen. The sofa dipped as he sat down next to you, almost waiting for you for acknowledge his presence. The tension was thick and when Travis cleared his throat, you turned your head slowly towards him.
"Y/N, baby. I am so sorry." His eyes pleaded, his hands held out the flowers.
You gave him a soft smile, "Thank you for the flowers. But it doesn't fix what you said."
"What does then?"
"I don't know." You stood up, taking the flowers from him and disappearing into the kitchen.
______________________________________________________________
The rest of the evening had been exceptionally awkward. You had avoided Travis as much as possible, staying away in separate rooms of the house and when you went to bed, he didn't come with you. Instead, you noticed that he had stayed the night on the sofa. The morning sun shone on his face as he slept, a blanket pulled up to his waist and a cushion under his head.
You continued with your Sunday morning as usual, brewing a pot of coffee and making pancakes whilst singing to the radio. You were halfway through Is This Love by Bob Marley, dancing with the pan in your hand when Travis appeared in the doorway.
"Are any of those for me?"
You picked up two plates from the cupboard above your head, "Sure."
"Does that mean that you've forgiven me?"
You shot him a look.
He held his hands up in defence, "Baby, please. Listen to me?"
"Honestly, I don't know what you can say to make all of this better, so we'd both be wasting our time."
Travis took hold of your hands, pulling them away from the pancakes, "I love you so much and I am a jackass for what I said. Honestly, you are the best thing that I have in my life and I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe jealousy...I don't know. But what I do know is that I will support you in whatever you do."
"Travis, the pancakes are gonna burn."
"I don't give a shit. I will do anything for you to love me again."
You rolled your eyes, "I do love you, that won't stop. I'll always love you. But I can be pissed at you...which I am."
Travis lowered his head just as a song began playing on the radio that made him look back up at you.
"I, I'm so in love with you."
You tried to hold your face straight as he began to sway his hips as he sang.
"Whatever you want to do, is alright with me."
You could feel your lips curling upwards when he pulled you closer, "'Cause you make me feel so brand new, and I want to spend my life with you."
You hid your slight smile by looking at your feet but Travis used his finger to lift your chin, "Our wedding song. Man, what a day that was. You looked even more beautiful that I could ever imagine. I couldn't stop staring at you all day and all night. I just kept reminding myself that I am the luckiest guy in the world. And I was certainly the luckiest guy that night."
You placed your hand on the back of his neck and pulled him down so that your lips were close to his ear, "You'll have to do better than that, big guy. Enjoy your burnt pancakes."
______________________________________________________________
You smiled at Donna, as she returned to her seat next to you at Music Hall Kansas City. Travis and Jason has gotten their Mom up as a special guest for the New Heights Podcast Live Show and she grabbed at your arm.
"Did I do okay?"
"Are you kidding?" You beamed at her, "You were awesome! Did you hear them? They love you!"
The crowd were still cheering as Travis stood up, the microphone held tightly in his right hand.
"Okay, Kansas City. I need y'all to help me out with something now." His left arm was outstretched towards the audience, "You all know my smokin' hot wife is here tonight."
The crowd went wild again as you felt your cheeks burn slightly.
"And your boy Travis has been a jackass."
The noise continued as he hung his head.
"Uh oh!" Jason shouted into his microphone, glancing over to you in you seat, "What did you do, Travis?"
"I said something stupid, man!"
"Is your mouth getting you in trouble again?" Jason asked from his seat.
Travis rubbed the back of his neck, nervously, "I'm in the doghouse, man. So, KC! Can you help me to get back in the good books please?"
You turned to Donna who was grinning at you. The crowd were still cheering so loud that your ears were ringing.
"Oh baby, let's...let's stay together." Travis closed his eyes and sang into the microphone.
You giggled as he began to dance around the stage and the crowd started to join in.
"Lovin' you whether, whether, times are good or bad, happy or sad!"
Jason accompanied by clapping along and Donna placed her hand onto your back, urging you to get onto the stage. Travis held his hand out and beckoned to you. You widened your eyes as you rose to your feet, with help from Donna.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh yeah! Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad!"
You stepped onto the stage, the lights blinding your right side. You smiled at Travis and watched as he continued, urging the crowd to join in louder.
"I, I'm so in love with you. Whatever you want to do, is alright with me." He closed his eyes again and gripped the microphone with both hands as he attempted the high note.
You laughed loudly and walked towards him.
"'Cause you make me feel so brand new, and I want to spend my life with you."
Once you were face to face with him, you placed your hands on his strong jawline, singing back to him.
"Let me say that since, baby, since we've been together. Ooh, loving you forever, is what I need. Let me, be the one you come running to, I'll never be untrue."
You pressed a kiss to his lips, without tongues but still just as passionate. His arms snaked around your waist and he lifted you off the ground for a couple of seconds, the crowd reacting with loud cheers.
Once he had lowered you back down onto the stage, he lifted the microphone back to his mouth, "We did it KC!"
______________________________________________________________
I found it so hard to be mad at him...and to stay mad at him! I kept imagining his sad face and I kept melting! I hope this was what you were wanting? And keep the requests coming!!

One of the biggest complaints about SB was that Glitchtrap was basically nonexistent. Help Wanted introduced him as a character, and it might have been him possessing the Glamrock animatronics before, but nothing was done with the concept.
Is that what this is?? Are we finally like, confronting him? Cuz that thing looks more and more like a multitool the longer I look at it, so maybe it's a bunch of things. Taser, hard drive/USB, hacking devise, ect. Maybe it's an anti-virus, too.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Sure! (given in no particular order)
1. Daichi from Haikyuu, of course.. I just love everything about him. He's a great captain and he has a big appetite and he's so down to earth and masculine in the best ways, what a man!!! I want a tattoo of him on my body!
Tumblr media
2. Pam Poovey from Archer. It's hard to stand out in a show where nearly every character is the single most interesting person in the world but I really do think that Pam takes the cake. She's a real one. She stays true to herself no matter how much everyone else begs her to stop and I RESPECT THAT. Also she's a fat character who isn't limited to being the Fat Character. While her weight does come up, often in insulting jokes or bits, she has so much else to her that it feels like such a small part of her character.
Tumblr media
3. Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. Out of all the insanely good character arcs in Bojack Horseman, Princess Carolyn's is my favorite. Usually the hardworking career woman character who wants a baby winds up the most disappointing character for me because she always gives up her career to be a mom but NOT MY GIRL PRINCESS CAROLYN. She said I want to be a badass boss lady AND a mom and I don't need no man to get what I want! And she did that shit. She deserves it.
Tumblr media
4. Linda Belcher from Bob's Burgers. I aspire to be like Linda. She's fun, she's extroverted, she is just so excited to live her modest life with a struggling burger business, a husband she actually enjoys spending time with, and 3 kids she adores with every fiber of her being. She sings and dances at any given opportunity and doesnt let embarrassment faze her. What an icon.
Tumblr media
5. Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings. Every time I think of him I wanna cry. He's just so.... perfect.... and wonderful.... He is the sweetest, bravest man to ever exist and NOBODY CAN ARGUE. The original Ride or Die. We all need a Samwise Gamgee in our lives. 🖤
Tumblr media
6. Usopp from One Piece. That's my boy! He's so funny and relatable. I love characters who are brave while being terrified. Despite his wacky goofy personality, he's complex and insecure but he stands by his guns and isn't afraid to challenge even his best friend/captain to defend what he believes and GOSH what a stand up guy ammiright?
Tumblr media
7. Eleanor Shellstrop from The Good Place. I love a disaster of a woman. She's a selfish bisexual with zero shame, what's more to love? I just can't help it. I'm weak for women who are just The Worst ™️.
Tumblr media
8. Manny from Swiss Army Man. I mean... He's dead, he teaches us what it means to be alive, and he's played by Daniel Radcliffe. He's basically the perfect character, right? Listen, Swiss Army Man is my all time favorite movie and I want everyone else to like it too. I can't even talk much on it because it's so much better when you watch it yourself. Especially if you love amazing soundtracks, beautiful visuals, and queer revelations.
Tumblr media
9. Hal from Malcolm in the Middle. I'm such a sucker for husbands who are obsessed with their wives and men in touch with their emotions and Hal is the epitome of both those things! I watched this show while growing up and I truly think that Bryan Cranston's portrayal of Hal taught me how men are supposed to act, especially in regards to their romantic partners. And now my own partner is basically a less theatrical version of him so it paid off ya know?
Tumblr media
10. Judas Iscariot from Jesus Christ Superstar (1973). This is mainly based on performance. Carl Anderson did such an AMAZING job playing Judas that he literally stole the show, imo. Jesus who? You mean Judas's boyfriend? It's not JUST his performance though, the way the character is written is so well done that I feel like Judas is the real main character. Yeah, this is the story about Jesus but he ain't the star, ya dig? He's a basic bitch in comparison to the complexity and emotional turmoil of Judas. Also they're gay and in love, what a tragedy! This is cinema!

Ranking all the Jesuses from every version I've watched/listened to so far
without further ado let's get into it 🙌
Ian Gillan - 1970 Original concept album
Tumblr media
The True Doer that you cannot outdo. The og who made this role what it is today. And since the og album was were I got my start and obsession with jcs, I have a huge fondness for him. There's just something so- so... about him. His vocals? Insane, fantastic, the golden standard. His Gethsemane is Everything. He raised the bar so high (literally lol) and made this role harder for everyone that came after him and I respect that. I also love his characterisation. He is a rockstar and he knows it. Adore this whiny ass messiah and his dramatics. 9/10
Ted Neeley - 1973 movie
Tumblr media
Sad little mouse man. He's like some small rodent to me. His gethsemane is iconic, but beyond it I don't care to much about his Jesus. He's perfectly inoffensive, but I find him a bit boring. Poor guy also had the disadvantage of performing against Carl Anderson, who's too powerful and who commanded every scene he was in, outshining Jesus. Tedsus is not for me personally, but he's definitely not bad. 6/10
Camilo Sesto - Madrid 1975 album
Tumblr media
I like him! He reminds me of Ian's Jesus but sadder (love to see it). Really good vocals. That 'POR QUE' ate. And his Gethsemane in general too. I don't have that much to say besides that, but Señor Sesto is really good in this role. 8/10
James Whitson - San Jose Civic Light Opera's 1990 production
Tumblr media
Uhhhhhhh. Watched this in a discord watch party and for half of it we were thought this was Ted. It wasn't. Don't really know what to say, there wasn't anything really memorable or notable about him. Also has the disadvantage of being pared up with Carl Anderson, except it's even worse here. If Carl was anywhere near him, no chance I was paying attention to Jesus. Um... he chased Santa out of the Temple! That's something! 3/10
Steve Balsamo - 1996 London revival album
Tumblr media
Steve Balsamo Jesus, my dearly beloved. How can you not love him. Just rewatch his Gethsemane for the 1000th time. His vocals are out of this world, man has organ pipes in place of vocal chords. Props to him for actually crying in gethsemane and still killing it. Absolutely fantastic. And his beautiful hair and those brown eyes really add to it. He's such a sad pathetic man, it's great. No complaints 10/10
Glenn Carter - 2000 movie
Tumblr media
I'm shaking, please buy him brown contacts. I am a glensus hater, although I have to admit that during my second viewing I didn't dislike him as much. Easily my least favourite gethsemane (lmm excluded), except his delivery of "what you started, I didn't start it", that was surprisingly good. Again, I'm a hater but bonus points for the entertainment factor. 4/10
Paul Nolan - 2012 Broadway revival
Tumblr media
BORING! Sorry your trouple doesn't save you from being so incredibly bland. It's like looking at a white wall that has just been painted over and you're watching it dry. Gethsemane is solid vocally, I like his interactions with others. But Jesus himself? No thanks. The staging of the crucifixion was so great, but then there he is with his mouth agape like a baby bird being fed and unconvincing "suffering". Also, no blood? 3/10
Ben Forster - 2012 UK Arena tour
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE ONE. My roman empire. My most dear blorbo. He's been living in my head rent free for months. I love him so much. He's just so incredibly stressed out and angsty and pathetic and constantly on the verge of a complete mental breakdown. His gethsemane is my favourite. Just pretty much everything I could want from a performance of it. The way he curls up on the floor? The little moments when his voice breaks a bit from emotion?? The knee thing??? Great, fantastic, stunning, no notes. Also I adore his costuming, finally Jesus is given something more interesting. 11/10
John Legend - 2018 NBC
Tumblr media
Hot take, but he's not nearly as bad as people make him out to be. He's just fine. I do enjoy his voice, Poor Jerusalem is especially good. Although I don't love his acting in the second act, but I really liked him in the first one. This Jesus just seems really nice and friendly and I love that. Gethsemane is solid vocally, even without the G5. Anyways he's not bad at all! 6/10
Andrew Latobesi - 2018 Villanova College
Tumblr media
This was another wildcard from the watch party. Jesus didn't stand out much because we were all a bit distracted by Judi. And Mary. He was bland and the acting was not fantastic, but this is a high school prod, and for what it's worth he's not bad. Gethsemane was solid enough considering everything. The crucifixion surprisingly hit, good crying there. ??/10 since I don't think it would be fair to rank him against all those adult professional performers.
Jack Hopewell - 50th Anniversary North America tour
Tumblr media
The only Jesus that made me cry while watching. He suffers real good (and looks very pretty while doing so). He's just so- so... I just wanted to wrap him up in a soft blanket and give him a kiss on the forehead and feed him soup. Tbh I think he's one of the best vocally too. His high note is my fav. Gethsemane in general is just great too. Love how much he's just some silly guy who then has to face the Horrors. He's just very cute :] 10/10
Jeangu Macrooy - 2024 Netherlands national tour
Tumblr media
The most poor little meow meow Jesus ever. He's so pathetic it's great. Him smiling and being happy was also so cute. Really good vocals too, man killed those high notes. His gethsemane too... Jeangu Macrooy absolutely steels the show and it's fantastic and incredibly heartbreaking. Want to see his performance again so so badly. In the meantime everyone should check out a snippet of his performance 10/10

FNAF MOVIE NOVEL REVIEW
I just finished reading the FNAF movie novel, and id like to give some thoughts on it
This post will contain spoilers for both the FNAF movie and it's novelization! continue at your own risk!
Overall I would say this is a pretty good adaptation of the movie, and it actually provides some additional context for some of the weaker plot points of the movie. A prime example being Aunt Jane's motivation for wanting custody over Abby. In the book there is a trust fund for Abby set up by her grand parents, Jane wants to take this money for herself and sees getting custody of Abby as the ticket to that money.
Some scenes in the book play out much differently then in the film, but generally things end in the same spots as they do in the movie.
being inside the characters heads allows us to get more characterization out of everyone, and for the most part I really like what they did here.
EDIT: The section on Doug is no longer relevant, Scott has announced that book Doug is non cannon, and new prints of the book have entirely rewritten his character, I don't have a newer print so I can't tell what's changed, maybe I'll buy one eventually to see.
The only character who I think is a direct downgrade from the film is unfortunately Doug. In the film Doug comes off as a hapless lawyer who is being held hostage by his client who is clearly in the wrong, and he still comes off like that in the book but with a clear difference. In the film we feel sorry for him, clearly he's not a bad guy, he's caught up in something he doesn't want to be in. In the book he is barely spoken about, and when he is described he is described as being spaced out and nearly catatonic. Other then not wanting to be there his only other trait in the book is being a creep. The Sparky's Diner scene is seen from Max's perspective in the book, and we get some amazing characterization from her, expressing her discomfort with the entire meeting with Jane and the plan her brother hatches. At some point in the scene she catches Doug staring at her breasts. (sidenote I think this might be the only time the word "breasts" appears in any FNAF book, just a strange inclusion for a series about murder pizza bears)
This is strange characterization for a fan favorite character in the original film, and nothing in the film would lead you to expect this kind of thing from him.
Sidenote here in the book Ness (Matpat's character) is said to be the son of the owner of Sparky's and the book describes him as an "Auburn-haired teen" which is a funny thing to call a man in his 30s.
Minor nitpick aside I think both the movie and the film are acceptable ways to experience the plot, some of the things I thought were weird could just have been my knowledge of the films events changing my perspective.
I also enjoy the reinstatement of some of the elements from earlier screenplays and earlier cuts of the film that we know about from various cast members. The father son relationship of Hank and Carl and Garrett appearing in the archway before The Yellow Rabbit appears being some examples.
The book is also way more gorey then the film was, to my surprise. I was almost shocked at the end of the book where both Vanessa and Mike are in a pool of their own blood, the FNAF books have always gone a little harder with the gore then the games have but I guess I wasn't expecting it because of how much of a blockbuster the film was. You know with all the eyes on everything FNAF movie related, but I'm happy to say the FNaF movie novelization keeps with the tradition of surprisingly bloody Scholastic published books.
I quite enjoyed my time with this book, if you haven't read it and wanna give it a go after watching the movie, I'd say it's a worthwhile read. I also read it pretty quickly, but it might have something to do with me already knowing the plot so I didn't have to let it sink in as much

Weekly tag wednesday!
Thank you Sky @skylerwinchester for the tag!
which character from any media would you like to have as a father?
Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens. I can't pick one because even though they are currently divorced, we all know they are actually married. Can't have one and not the other.
if money, laws, time, and effort were no object, what animal would you want to have?
A herd of elephants. They think we are cute, I think they are cute. It would be a good time for everyone involved.
what is your Chinese takeout order?
Pork or tofu fried rice, chicken chow mein, and sesame chicken.
what's your favourite emoji? 🥹
would you rather have a library, greenhouse, or home theater in your house?
Home theater. I consume so many movies and TV shows. I'd be in there every day.
what childhood tv show do you think of the most fondly?
Foster's home for imaginary friends
what was your tumblr like when you first joined?
The first time around, it was exclusively Superwholock. 💀 Then I left for a few years, and when I came back, I started the one you see now, which hasn't changed.
what clothing style do you love but don't feel compelled to replicate yourself?
Hyper fem and hyper masc looks
if you were plopped into a fictional world, which one would you know the layout of the best?
Tbth, hogwarts would be number one. Fuck jkr, trans live matter. But my mom read me the HP books growing up. My love for fiction and writing came from this series. Second would be Hawkins from Stranger Things. Fuck Noah Schnapp. Free Palestine. But stranger things is what really brought me back to the fandom space and writing fan works. So. It's complicated I guess? Lol.
what is your favourite piece of art?
FUNGUS by Narcissistic Cookbook.
do you have a water bottle? what does it look like?
It's one of those tumblers that Starbucks has made really popular. It's iridescent blue and purple. Very me. Because if you couldn't tell, I have an obsession with purple.
what fanfic trope is a quiet fave?
Found family and "unusual" relationships, specifically QPRs and polycules. I love when authors understand that we are pack animals and push the boundaries of queerness. TLDR; Let the homies kiss.
do you carry a daily bag? what does it look like? what's the weirdest thing in it?
Nope, I'm a Pocket Person. The weirdest thing I carry is probably my knife? Or my lighter, but I feel like even that is pretty normal.
if you had to ship Mickey with another Gallagher, who would it be?
Had to? Probably Carl. I think 1. Carl is most likely of the brothers to be queer and 2. He'd vibe the best with Mickey imo. Early 30s Mickey and early 20s Carl keeping each other out of and getting each other into trouble.
what is a fanfic trope you didn't expect to like and then very much did?
No judgement, right? Lol. Mpreg in ABO fics. ONLY ABO fics, but there you go.
Do you think s11 Mickey can still carry s11 Ian?
Absolutely. I think he does it every once in a while just to prove it, to. Ian always humors him.
who got custody of the killing bat when they sold the house?
Sky had it right, Carl definitely got it.
I'm sorta on time, so I'll tag a few people. @spacerockwriting @energievie @jrooc @krystallouwho @callivich @juliakayyy @sweetbee78 @ian-galagher
And anyone else. If you see this and want to do it, tag! You're it! If not, here's some cake. 🍰

For the dbh ask game: 3, 14, 17, 18 💙
I'm apologizing ahead of time because I ramble like hell. LOL Thank you for the ask!
3. Which character do you relate the most to?
Aaaaah, almost really hard to answer. I relate to most of the characters in the game to some degree. Grew up in a broken home like Alice, taken in & cared for people like Kara. I can go on and on but if there's a character I really, really relate to - It's probably Luther, the protector, guardian, however you want to refer to him. He really deserves more lines but I can firmly say I can relate to giving everything in my power to see those around me be safe. I won't type an essay about it because my response is long enough but I can really relate to Luther in many ways.
In a way, I've also really related to Hank lately but I don't want to trauma dump on here or make anyone worried.
14. How do you feel about Kara’s role in the game compared to her role in the Kara short?
Admitly - I'm torn. I actually love both. When I first saw the Kara Short (as a bonus in Beyond: Two Souls), I thought it was AMAZING. I remember my brother and I saying "I wish they'd turn that into a full game". Lmao, and obviously they did. However, I feel in-game Kara is faaaaaaaar different than the Kara in the short. The short is, well, short, and says what it needs to convey and shows Kara moreso as an android that just wants to live life free, whereas in the game, Kara does have those wants, but her main goal is to protect Alice. I love them both and her story in the game is very much packed with the angst I know & love... It's hard to choose which I like more but the Kara short is probably better written (let's face it, it's harder to have plot holes in a 7 minute video rather than a long video game with branching paths).
17. Favorite moments of each playable character?
Oh I have sooo many but I'll try to narrow it down to 2 for each character.
Markus: I love his introduction with Carl. I know the subtext is bad but the moment Markus does his painting, always swells my heart (I think it's partially the amazing soundtrack that gives me emotions). All of the different arts he makes are just...sooo good.
However, I also ADORE crossroads & I love Markus making his way down to blow up the ship while rescuing any androids can. Oh the music, the action, I love it lol.
Kara: There's so many moments I love with Kara. The river endings always have me sobbing my eyes out lol (even if both Alice & Kara make it). I do love the humanity in when you enter the checkpoint and the soldier hands Alice back one of her gloves. I always found it really heartwarming.
Also, Kara talking with Rose. The two just feel like really close friends and Rose cares for Alice on the same level Kara does, I feel. At the final checkpoint at the border, I love Kara finally being able to cry & getting one last hug from Rose before you hopefully make good choices. LOL
Connor: Oh man, hard to choose but I will ALWAYS laugh at Connor breaking into Hank's house via the window...then "Sumo, attack! ...good dog." It gets me every time. Connor convincing Hank to go to the Eden Club in the most sly and manipulative way - I love Russian Roulette as a chapter so much. The depressing subtext is just, *chef kiss*. I love angst & I also love humor.
Then, the chase in the nest. Watching Connor just gun it and run, doing stunts that are impossible for a human being. The music, the action, watching our RK800 dash at probably 15 or 25 mph. Idk, I love it. I'm a sucker for it everytime. I also feel obliged to mention the "I like dogs" & the interrogation sequence. I'm a sucker for interrogation scenes in movies, games, etc. (I also love his little chat sessions with Amanda).
18. Which NPC gave you the most feels?
It's hard to just pick one! Rose gives me mega feels when she brings up how hard it's been since her husband passed. Alice for - obvious reasons. Hank's self destruction, past, addiction, I've seen it irl, I've been it irl. I feel so sorry for him. North - just thinking about her history. It is sooooooooo hard not to feel bad for all the NPCs. I really can't pick one. D:
Thank you for the ask! :D

This is a Valentines Day movie. "Don't hate me!/Your lips are full, your head is empty/This faded valentine is what you sent me" - The Sons of Thunder Chester "Chazz Darby" Ogilvie and Kayla, forever! Chazz does NOT put up with Rex calling her a bitch in the toy store after their first break up. He's such a softie for women. He's trying very very hard to live his dream, but with integrity. He explains to Ian the Shark at the station, "She's not like what you'd think. She's actually really cool and, well, I guess what it all comes down to is that we really care about each other and I screwed up. She's been there for me from the beginning. I think I let her down, but I still want us to be tight." You can tell they have a good time together from their cutesy message machine greeting. She does end up bringing him the tape and they both apologize to eachother. He later states, "What have I got? My guitar, my bike, and my woman. That's all I got in the world. And you keep kicking me out!-It's making me insane! I figure if I get a record contract, I can make it up to you. I'm doing this for you!" and then they profess their love for each other. It's the emotional heart of this film. This movie has the love of music, love for brotherhood, and it's about telling your partner your name is really Chester & you understand if they don't love you anymore. Plus Where else can you hear John Bender say, "super duper!"? I love Pip's meet-cute of getting hit in the face by a door by Suzzie and their ensuing romance, they just understand eachother. Even the swat leader, Carl Mace's weird martial troubles seem to be a driving force for his character and he talks with Beech about it during this hostage situation! Love is everywhere in this movie! Carter Burwell is a hero (for Twilight) and an icon (for this). This movie has such weird politics (incredibly invested in racism, ACAB, and displays how white people have a hard time engaging in their own obliviousness, but every insult is also super misogynistic) especially for a place where the logo of the station is the confederate flag. The performances in this movie are just great, Adam Sandler is so so funny, Brendan Fraser is so green and earnest, and Steve Buscemi is completely unhinged. I have a soft spot especially for David Arquette in this but really all the side characters are excellent. I am still scared of White Zombie. Happy Valentines Day!

Period Comfort (Markus) [Comfortember 2023]
Characters: Markus, Female OC Video Game: Detroit: Become Human Genre: Comfort Summary: Markus is so sweet to cater to her during "Shark Week." Word Count: 1,050
A/N: Mention of Comfortember Prompts: 6. Notes 11. Comfort Show/Movie 24. Soup 27. Blankets (Maybe I'm overthinking this…)
DAY 1
Freisha grunts as she adjusts into another sprawled position on the bed, curled around a bunched up fluffy blanket she had stolen from the closet. She pushes her face into it as her favourite android enters the room, not wanting to see that knowing but charming smile. “Don’t say it, Markus.”
She can hear the grin in his voice. “What do you mean?”
She huffs, pulling the blanket over her head.
“I brought you soup and painkillers.” The same painkillers he had suggested she take the night before. And probably left on the table this morning before he left, if she had bothered to look. “Not hungry.” “Freisha…” She hates when he uses that tone. It was the way he talked to Carl when the old man was being stubborn for the heck of it. Made her feel like she was half her age, younger even. Curse these stupid hormones making her interpret stuff all sensitively. He continued in a softer tone. “You haven’t eaten since this morning. I met your breakfast still in the microwave.”
“Didn’t wanna get up.”
“Well, that won’t help you feel any better.” She sighed, pouting. “I knooooow…” She groaned. “My ovaries and my head are mad at me for it.”
She feels the edge of the bed lower with his weight. “Would it help if I fed you?”
She covers more of herself with the blanket. “That’s embarrassing!”
“Will you eat if I leave you alone?”
“Probably not…” She frowns and curls in on herself, hissing and whining as a particularly harsh pain takes over her stomach.
Markus rubs her back tenderly, frowning slightly. He could tell this month’s period was a rather bad one. It had been late as well, according to his internal tracker. She was fussier for it.
After a while, he feels her relax just slightly and stills his hand. “I have a proposal.”
She peeks at him over the blanket, eyebrows furrowing at his word choice.
“I’ll stay with you while you eat here in bed. I’ll sit behind you and you can lean against me while we watch ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’.”
The blanket lowers further. Brown eyes study his heterochromatic ones suspiciously. “That’s very specific.”
His expression doesn’t change. “I’ll even hold the heating pad on your stomach for you.”
She blinks at him. Squints. He tilts his head minutely. “You’ve been studying me."
He laughs at her accusatory tone. “Is that a bad thing? Do you disagree with any part of my proposition?”
“None of it.” She deadpans, even as her body protests the thought of actually sitting up.
Markus smiles as he helps her execute.
DAY 4
Freisha is wrapped in the same blanket, dragging it all over the house. Markus stops her repeatedly, offering her her water bottle with the straw up. When she protests non-verbally, he simply asks, “Is it helping?” to which she would begrudgingly sucks up a single mouthful before scuttling away again, leaving him with a bottle in his hand and a smile on his face. She could be really childish on her period sometimes.
She’s less verbal with only a slightly better appetite, and he takes care not to push her. Soup tastes better the more it sits, anyway.
After hiding away for two hours, she shyly shuffles up to him, producing a bottle of thirium from the folds of the blanket. He thanks her politely, taking a sip before placing a hand on her forehead, mouth twitching when she leans into the touch. He goes from concerned to understanding in a blink, wrapping her in a hug.
“Piano,” she mumbles into his chest. “Please?”
He is more than happy to oblige, leading her to the grand piano and sitting with space for her. He plays softly, careful of her current sensitivities, smiling as she sways side to side in her blanket burrito and hums along.
She hunkers down a bit and he watches her closely, slowing but not stopping his fingers on the keys. He does stop when he feels her hand pat his thigh near his waist, leaning away to watch her wiggle a finger into his pocket. “You’ll want something to swallow that with.” She nods without looking up at him.
He stands, taking the pill packet out of his pocket and handing it to her. She takes between her folded lips and blinks at him. He watches her for a moment before lifting the blanket burrito in his arms bridal style and taking her to the kitchen where she points at the plate of oatmeal cookies on the counter.
“As opposed to solid food?” he asks.
Her voice is a mumble. “Solid enough for two Midol.”
“With water,” he concedes, further sated by the fact that he’d made the cookies himself so they were healthier than average.
Seated at the kitchen table she holds her water bottle with both hands, studying it as she drinks down more than half.
Markus is pleasantly surprised.
“Nap,” she says, shuffling off to the bedroom.
DAY 7
Freisha silently hands Markus a folded paper.
He tilts his head curiously. It’s a plain white sheet of printer paper, with ‘To: Markus written in pencil on the front. Upon opening it, there’s a burst of colorful marker swirls outlining large letters in negative space spelling out 'THANK YOU.'
He smiles. “What’s this for?”
Freisha rocks on her feet, looking anywhere but at him. “For catering to me this week. I know I was acting like a kid and blamed it on the pain but thanks for putting up with me anyway. I really appreciate it. You really didn’t have to, especially with your schedule.”
Markus smiles, stepping forward and pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. “I truly do enjoy taking care of you, Freisha. It’s no trouble at all. I actually consider it a break from my schedule to cater to you when you’re needing the extra attention.”
Her face heats up and she squeaks, drawing a laugh from him. “Is it finished now?” he asks.
She nods. “Yep. Back to sensible and capable Friehsa until next month. Although I hope it’s an easier one…”
He rests a hand on her head, gently tapping his fingers over her forehead the way she likes for her headaches. “See you then.”

What's your favorite film about fathers and sons?
Since so much of your content is about masculinity and how we learn about it, I wanted to see if you had any thoughts or examples from pop culture that explored that relationship. (And obviously, it doesn't need to have a "father" or a "son", but somehow connected to cultural ideas of masculinity.)
For me, I've always loved grifting stories, so Catch Me If You Can is an all-time fave. I love watching Frank Abagnale Jr as a mindful student of his world up until the moments when he needs to perform inside of it.
And ultimately, having to "perform" masculinity is an overwhelming prospect. It's so stressful and exhausting that, eventually, Frank realizes it's not even worth financial security or prestige.
When we meet Frank's dad, he's telling a story at the rotary club about "two little mice" falling into a bucket of cream, frantically flailing for life until they churn it into butter.
Later, while pretending to be a doctor with a law degree, Frank tells that same story to his prospective in-laws. It moves them so much, they don't hesitate to give permission to marry their daughter. It also creates the image of an impossibly hard-working man that Frank will have to spend the rest of his married life trying to prove.
It's not until we see Frank catching up with his dad at a diner that we see how much this has been tearing him apart. After learning his father has fallen into a secure, yet boring, mail job and is no longer pursuing his ex-wife, Frank begs his dad to "Tell me to stop". The performance is causing him too much stress and, ultimately, isn't worth the financial and familial security of maintaining the grift.
On the other side, we have Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent who couldn't care less about performing for others. When in a car with two other agents, Hanratty doesn't laugh at one of the other agents' lewd stories. Annoyed, he asks why Hanratty never laughs, so Hanratty asks if they want to hear a joke. When they say, "Yeah," he sets up a "knock knock" joke only to reply, "Go fuck yourselves." He's not interested in performing for other people, even the masculine tradition of telling off-color jokes.
Tumblr media
By the end of the movie, Frank has a closer relationship to Hanratty than his own father, and the main reason is that Hanratty wants Frank to be himself. Sure, that means letting himself be arrested and confessing to his crimes. But it also means letting himself be vulnerable: to let himself be arrested instead of shot down, to share his secret about passing the Louisiana Bar exam, and to help others instead of just himself. It's such a strong motivation that Hanratty lets Frank get on a plane, breaking his parole, and says he trusts him to come back to work.
So yeah, watching his father perform masculinity left such a strong impression he let it absorb his entire life to the point that he became an internationally wanted criminal.
(FYI I don't know how Tumblr works; i just started using it and don't know if this will show up on my feed, like a post, or will be direct messaged, so this is me trying to learn this system as much as anything else; thank you for your time.)
I absolutely love this question, and your example, as well. This is something I've thought a fair amount about (I actually have a video on fatherhood in media planned for the future!), and I have a whole handful of answers, but I'm going to go with the first one that jumped to mind:
How to Train Your Dragon is definitely up there for me. I really appreciate the way it tackles patriarchy in a sort of... non-judgmental light while highlighting the problems with it, if that makes sense? It's not framed as "Clearly this traditional, combative Viking (masculine) way is bad and terrible and destructive and shameful", but rather based around fear of the unknown and the drive to protect one's own. For that reason, it's understandably glorified, even in its violence, because that violence is seen as serving an essential purpose.
Hiccup and Stoick's relationship is so fascinating to me, because it's clear there's love between them, but the fact that they have nothing in common means the relationship begins and ends at familial, there's no friendship or connection beyond that. You don't get the sense that Stoick is disgusted by Hiccup's poor masculine performance so much as worried about his ability to stay safe and fit in. I'm not going to go so far as to say he's not embarrassed by his son's eccentricity, even Hiccup calls it out that his dad wanted a son who's all power and glory, but Stoick never says that himself, he more just laments Hiccup being different. Stoick's own words point more at apprehensiveness where his son's safety and social future is concerned, as well as frustration about how to raise him. He talks about his own boyhood, his father telling him to bang his head against a rock and doing so without question, the way he was taught that being a Viking (man) means power, ruthlessness, and following orders--how he embodied that as a boy... and Hiccup doesn't. For me, this reads less as him being ashamed of his son and more as him simply not knowing what to do because the blueprints he was given are useless. We even find out he's tried typical father-son bonding activities, but Hiccup's nature always means they deviate from the plan and he's left at a loss again.
That Stoick feels this way is really driven home when he finds out that Hiccup is a natural born "dragon slayer", his love for his son is so obvious here when he says "We finally have something to talk about," and is downright giddy over the opportunity to connect with him. But that promptly falls back into their usual distance and awkwardness, because the problem of Hiccup pretending to be someone he's not hasn't been solved; he's just gotten more skilled at lying.
When Hiccup eventually does try to show his dad his truth, Stoick isn't ready for it. Eccentric deviation from the norm is one thing, but he's gone so far off course that it poses a much larger threat, welcoming in the Dangerous Other they've been at war with. Because of this, Hiccup isn't just confronting his dad with his own truth, he's confronting his dad with the fact that he, Stoick, was misled. That his entire worldview of what it is to be a Viking (MAN) is based on fear and misunderstandings rather than an accurate assessment of the world.
So he does what that misinformed framework taught him to do in the face of opposition. He lashes out, doubles down, and refuses to communicate and engage with the fact that maybe he's just wrong. He fights. Again, this comes from that protective impulse, but we begin to see where it becomes internally destructive in addition to its external destruction; it's been paired with the fear of fallibility and a threat to the status quo.
What a love so much about Stoick realizing his mistake is that before anything else, this rock-headbutting, skull-crushing pinnacle of manhood apologizes. He apologizes and he verbally acknowledges his son's autonomy. After the grand finale, he recognizes that it's his son's differences that not only make him wonderful, but were the key to solving an ongoing problem of violence and suffering. "Turns out all we needed was a little more of this." "You just gestured to all of me." The call back on that one is just *chef's kiss* The Old Way was one of defensiveness and mistrust, and The New one of empathy and understanding. I love the way this message is given, and the way it highlights how guidance in growth is a gift children can give to their parents, as well, when given the space to do so.

I don't know how to feel about that Rick & Michonne movie? Or show? Whatever it is because like what's the point? I love Andy and would love to see him as Rick but what they described just is NOT IT! I also heard there doing a Daryl in Europe thing? 🥴 I think it's time they let the show go already. What do you think?
I think I'm the wrong person to ask 😂 cause listen, there is absolutely nothing that could happen on their limited series that would make me love it. Nothing. There has never been a character I've loved as much as I loved Rick Grimes and AMC did me so dirty that I know I'm too bitter to give an unbiased opinion.
Carl Grimes was never supposed to die. And because of that, anything that happened afterwards simply doesn't matter to me. It's like some weird alternate version of the universe that I just don't accept as canon. My sister keeps telling me "oh but at least Rick will finally have an ending." Except, he won't. He'll have some weird completely alternate ending that was never supposed to happen and never would have happened if AMC hadn't been so cheap so why should I care? Does that make sense? 😂
They could pull a miracle out of their ass and actually manage to put together a solid little mini series and I wouldn't care because it's just so wrong. The Walking Dead flew so far off the rails that it became something so far removed and unrecognizable from the story we all fell in love with. Do I think they're gonna put together a solid plot? Absolutely not. Like you said, that description sounded like rubbish. It reads like a YA dystopian novel. And how many god damn times can they realize they need to FiGhT ThE LiViNG. FFS.
It's definitely time to let the show go, it was time to let the show go like six years ago probably. Will I watch it? At some point, for Andy. The only hope I have for it is that Rick finally keels over so they can stop dragging him back. As for Daryl? I haven't a fucking clue what he's up to, I haven't watched a single episode since Rick left and I won't watch another until this stupid ass mini series that AMC is using to gain subscribers to their streaming service. (read the room guys, no one wants another damn streaming service!)
Anyway, I'm so sorry lmao. Thanks for asking, I guess I had to get that off my chest. 🥴

Day 44: Sensacine 🎞 🌟 my beloved (part 3)
Yep, the same page from before, Sensacine, has released some new images from the upcoming movie. Since there are a lot of them (more than 40) I would only show those that caught my attention. You can see the rest of them in their web page.
Spoilers coming:
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the greatest creation of all time, the Wi-Fi! Love how Mummy get excited with modern stuff. Also it looks like he tries to cheer up Tad in the second picture, albeit he can come as innocent incensitive again like the sequel. Be glad you have someone to lean on Tad, you may lose him in a blink of an eye.
Tumblr media
Top 10 photos taken before disaster plus "Ah! My face! My beautiful, beautiful face! I have the face of a stinking gator *whines harder* GATOR FACE! 😭"
If you got the reference, I'm very proud of you.
Tumblr media
This scene may occur after the plane incident. It was not a good experience for both of them. Poor Belozoni. Jeff gets to fly and him? I pity the parrot.
I suspect the place is the back of the Louvre Museum, just because they got a plane to fly towards it.
Tumblr media
In life Mummy is me. I am Mummy.
When it comes to the time I spend on my cellphone at least. Dude, this is not the place nor the time to use the Tiki Taka, there's an object to find!
I wonder what Ramona will think of that place. It looks great, but it's just a replica of what her culture used to look.
Tumblr media
These images are very interesting, and concerning, especially the second one. Who is that woman and why she gathered that group of people?
Tad & Mummies were close to being captured, Ramirez is following Mummy's account to know his current place and Pickles seems done already, with that towel on his head and eating a croissant while drinking coffee.
He reminds me of a distant parient of Carl Fredricksen from UP, maybe it's because of the square chin or his "so tired of this adventure" attitude.
Tumblr media
A nice journey before the disaster, glad to see Ramona is enjoying the trip. Mummy doesn't look like he is in the trip but maybe he's there, just hidden.
Again, I pity Belzoni. That poor parrot.
Tumblr media
Many things to point out here. Why are the three mighty archeologists smiling? Is this before or after the curse is broken? It seems like Ramirez is the one who lets Tad and company go while Pickles, poor tired Pickles is like "WHAT!? You let them go!?" and I really want to know the context here.
I may be wrong and they never would acknowledge this, but maybe because Ramirez is mexican, she can understand the importance of mummies in Latin America and around the world and doesn't want them to be hurt or moved to a international facility.
Pickles, who is most likely from Chicago, doesn't think the same.
That mountain looks like the one from Sara's map on the promo where the camp of the mighty is located. There's another bike race taking place on Egypt.
You know what that means?
🎶"Another one bites the dust"🎶
Tumblr media
I'm gonna laugh hard if Mummy calls the camel "A big, deformed llama" since camels and llamas are actually related.
I love his Egyptian outfit, purple looks good on him. I also love that he keeps the Inti symbol most of the time.
Mummy here is channeling his inner Freddy Marquez and doing an exhibition of Ramona while the trio is ectastic at meeting her and began to "do that archeology stuff" to her.
In the last image Ra-Amon-Ah be like:
"I'm surrounded by idiots"
Tumblr media
Presenting, from Ancient Egypt...
Ra-Amon-Ah the Ammit whisperer!
Seems like this mummy lady knows how to keep Mummy calm in times of the curse, better than Tad may I add. He almost got to be Ammit's food/toy.
Maybe this is how Ramona gets to bond with Mummy, going from "Eugh" to "Awww" at the end of the journey.
Never thought I would see Ramona holding that rubber chicken, but here we are, taming an Ammit Mummy.
Speaking of Ammit Mummy, let's finish this analysis with this single, impacting picture:
Tumblr media
Why is Mummy there? He looks like he is in control of his actions by the way he is standing, putting a paw infront of Tad and Sara as if saying "Wait" or "Don't come closer"
Maybe this is the moment he realizes there's not hope for him and he is better far away his friends?
Also who does the truck belong too? Victoria? the trio of archeologists? Agents Pickles and Ramirez?
There seems to be bars behind Ammit Mummy. Are those part of the truck or is that a broken cage?
So many questions...
Well, that's all from the moment. There are more images I want to talk about but that's for tomorrow.
Btw, today is the release of all the books from movie 3 online. Hope someone posts a page or two.

The Importance of Likable Characters
Tumblr media
In all forms of entertainment, crafting the best character to fit the story is often very tricky. The character has to be both integral to the story and interesting to be around. One component I think makes for a good character is having them be likable. Today, I'm gonna make the case for likable characters and why they can be good for storytelling more often than not.
Tumblr media
So what makes a character likable? Sounds like a simple question to answer, right? Wrong! Likable characters can come in all different shapes and sizes. Some characters like SpongeBob are likable because they're optimistic, friendly, and really smart. Other characters like Peter Parker are likable because they're brave, caring, and loyal. Generally speaking, likable characters are like our friends. Their best attributes make us want to hang out with them and see how they overcome adversity.
Tumblr media
There's this common misconception about likable characters being naive or foolish for always looking on the bright side. Clearly y'all don't remember what the Emperor told Shang in the movie Mulan. "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all." Looking on the bright side is NOT being foolish, much less naive. If none of us looked on the bright side, we'd be forever lost in the darkness. Likable characters act as a guide to help others see the light of a brighter tomorrow. Without Dug or Russell, Carl probably wouldn't have made it out of South America alive. Without Clifford, Cleo and T Bone would probably drift apart.
Tumblr media
Of course, I cannot talk about likable characters without talking about the one likable character cynics hate: Superman. I've heard all the labels thrown at him, how he's a bland, overpowered, boring character who's basically the superhero equivalent of Jesus Christ. Those who say this have never picked up a Superman comic, watched the animated show, or have seen any of the movies he's in. In actuality, Superman is genuinely good person raised by 2 humble farmers in a small town who was taught to treat others the way he would want to be treated. He also uses his powers to help others and makes an effort to try and reason with the villains before the fists start flying. He's not perfect as he has a short temper, he can be too honest and he lies to Lois like all the time. But he's no less likable because he has flaws. No, he's a likable guy because he doesn't let those flaws hold him back. Remember that famous comic where he saved a teenager from jumping off a building and heard out her frustrations? That's like the coolest, most Superman thing to do. We definitely need more characters like Superman because he doesn't just save lives, he inspires them too. If that's not cool, I don't know what is.
Tumblr media
Likable characters aren't naive or foolish for not being cynical and bitter. They're essential for making other characters and the world around them better. Likable characters can take a standard story like the first Thor movie and make it worth getting invested in. Obviously, not every character has to be likable to make a good story. I'm just saying having a likable character in your story isn't inherently a bad thing. To conclude, I'd like to leave you with this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr:

Tag Game To Better Know You! Send this to people you’d like to know better!
Thank you so much to @maelerie for tagging me, it was a very pleasant surprise!

What book are you currently reading? Broca’s Brain by Carl Sagan. I read my dad’s Portuguese copy many many years ago, but I wanted to read it as it was written originally, especially as Carl had such a wonderful way with words.
What’s your favourite movie you saw in theatres this year? The Bob's Burgers Movie. I think it was the only film I went to the theatre for this year and it was really nice.
What do you usually wear? It’s winter now, so my usual is trousers (with pyjama bottoms underneath if it’s super cold), a t-shirt and a knitted sweater. Colour-wise I tend to gravitate towards black and red, but I’m not above shiny silver jackets and bright yellow raincoats.
How tall are you? 155
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event? Pisces. I share a birthday with George Harrison depending on who you ask.
Do you go by your name or a nick-name? I go exclusively by nicknames online. Offline it is a mix.
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child? No, I wanted to be an astronomer. I’m still interested in the field, but I’m not passionate enough to get the necessary qualifications.
Are you in a relationship? If not, who is your crush if you have one? I am not. My current crush is an F1 driver and I am ashamed but he has big brown eyes and pouts pathetically and I am only human
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at? I’m good at spotting patterns irl and figuring out what's coming before it happens, so usually I can plan ahead pretty well.
I'm terrible at staying focused, there is a reason I have 70 tabs open at all times and take months to do anything.
Dogs or cats? Ahhh… can I say both? I always thought I was a cat person but having a dog has really made me reconsider it. So both.
If you draw/write, or create in any way, what’s your favourite picture/favourite line/favourite etc. from something you created this year?
Tumblr media
I mean it when I say it is this, it still makes me laugh and I think that's the most important thing of all, to enjoy it!
What’s something you would like to create content for? I think it’s obvious I have a penchant for historical hetalia, specifically when it’s related to Port, and I have a bunch of ideas for mini comics and AUs and… too many things to list, really. Lets just say I want to draw more of my favourite characters and ships.
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with? F...Form....Formula....1.........
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year? I don’t think there’s anything I was excited for at the start of the year that was disappointing later on… I guess I was excited for my first F1 weekend race, but the driver I was supporting had to retire on the first curve because someone crashed into him, that was very disappointing.
What’s a hidden talent of yours? I joke a lot about doing a humanities degree due to being bad with numbers, but the truth is I’m actually really good at doing maths in my head.
Are you religious? Not anymore.
What’s something you wish to have at this moment? Mae answered this with “more time” and I absolutely agree. More time and more rest.

Who are some of your favorite tv/book/movie characters? And what is it about them that you love?
Oh jesus there are so many and I'm brain farting on all of them. I need to have a think...
Let's start with the obvious because he's who this tumblr is about.
My sweet baby boy Peter Parker (tasm version but all Peter Parker's are precious to me):
Tumblr media
Why? He's angsty, he loves to self flagellate, he blames the world's problems on himself, he's an introvert (now that I think about most of my fav characters are probably angsty introverts) he turns into a giddy nervous idiot around the girl he loves, he's sassy and cocky and stubborn and a bit of an ass at times, he's also a mushy little lover boy who simps hard for his ladies, he's a mommas boy (well...aunties boy), he mourns his losses hard and doesn't know how to get over them, he destroys personal relationships in misguided attempts to protect his loved ones, he's a perfect baby and can do no wrong and I love to turn him into a serial killing monster in my fics.
My second favorite sweet baby boy Spencer Reid:
Tumblr media
Why? He's another sad angsty introverted baby. I have a type. A gentle personality with an intense drive to protect his loved ones. Is self sacrificing. Would give up his life and safety in a second to save a stranger. He's a literal genius with an eidetic memory. Much like Peter Parker he would be an absolute simp for his ladies. He just wants someone to love him for himself and not have to watch his love get shot in the head in front of his eyes and traumatize him forever. Is that too much to ask for this poor angel?? Omg him and Peter really are a lot alike. So much trauma.
My favorite vampire hunter Guillermo de la Cruz:
Tumblr media
Why? I love that he started off being a timid pushover who's only dream was to become a vampire. Then he transforms in the most badass, gay, plus sized serial killer/vampire hunter. I'm pretty sure he's a sociopath. He's an evil bitch who looks like a sweet cherub in a grandpa cardigan. He has killed and will kill again to get what he wants. He will manipulate anyone and take control of his own life. I love him. I love that even though his morals are reprehensible, you still can't help but be on his side and root for his success in whatever nefarious scheme he has going on.
I should put this shit under a read more. I'm getting carried away and now I can't stop.
My heart and soul April Ludgate:
Tumblr media
Why? I would die for Aubrey Plaza. April is my favorite weirdo. She's a mean, harsh, scary, sarcastic bitch on the outside but a nervous, self doubting, awkward, loyal baby on the inside. She is a queen and deserves the world. And she adopted a three legged pitbull named Champion. She gave birth in full zombie make up. She's a Halloween loving freak. Her friends become her family. She's a ride or die kind of girl. She is perfection.
Yes I fell hard on the Munson train, sue me:
Tumblr media
Why? Why not? Look at him! He's lovely! He's an 80's outcast nerdy metal head who sells pot to his peers out of his lil lunch box. What a hero! People love to discuss his sexuality. To throw my hat into the mix, personally, I think he's pansexual. I think he would straight up fall in love with anyone who gives him an ounce of kindness and attention. He's a little dumb scaredy cat with a heart of gold and probably chain smokes himself to sleep every night. 10/10 would ride him deep into the night. He might of died young (in the dumbest way ever like the dumbass that he is) but he will always live on in the fics I create in my headspace as I go to bed each night.
okay last one
Michonne from the Walking Dead:
Tumblr media
Why? I would let her behead me with her katana without a second thought. She's the most bad ass bitch on that show (granted I haven't actually watched the show in forever, I stopped after Carl died, but I still adore those first handful of seasons). Like most of my other idiots on this list, Michonne is a quiet introvert who is fiercely loyal to people she considers family. She doesn't say much but when she does, it's important and you should fucking listen. She's intelligent, crafty, knows how to survive, and is stronger than any man on that show. What's not to love?

qaf rewatch: 4x08
I'm starting to see an overall pattern emerge in season 4: a three-act season, which means I can sort of see the overall ripping-apart-and-stitching-back-together I need to do. which is good!
I don't remember what happens in this one other than... brian's cancer, the worst of it, I think? (if you're wondering, btw, why I'm not focusing too much on brian and justin's scenes, it's because I've rewatched them lots so I already remember them very well lolol obsessed? moi?)
first scene:
babylon! hot dancers in tighty whities made of satin, big cocks, brian in his sleeveless button up looking a lot like season 2 brian, actually. being fondled and hit on by all the guys-- oh wait, Vic
babylon in Brian's dream
vic being a sarcastic asshole, just like brian usually -- Vic says brian has "one of two choices" (stay young or get old) -- shows a bunch of old, not attractive old men
"turns out, you're everything you never wanted to be, kiddo: old, diseased, imperfect". now when vic says this, it's Brian's subconscious obviously... but it's interesting to think that Vic might say something very similar to this! (but with a very different tone, aka: you gotta accept you aren't perfect Brian but that is not a bad thing, it just is, you know?)
new scene: brian wakes up in hospital
brian wakes up "in recovery" -- now let me tell you something about general anaethesia: you don't have hallucinations? like. I've been under twice, two different types
undefined
new scene: ben, michael and hunter biking
talking about debbie and whether she's doing okay, and the rage movie -- michael's still thinking he's gonna be rich and famous from the movie deal
things are still a lil strained between ben and michael
new scene: emmet and deb choosing a headstone
deb, emmett and michael looking for a headstone, deb picks the biggest and weirdest tombstone (also the most expensive) - for $27k. "it's solid marble"
Deb: "your uncle vic was a size queen. he woulda loved it." deb wants to spend so much money to prove she loved him
new scene: the diner
mel and ted waiting for her food, justin is serving without deb and swamped
justin is pissed but just from work
brian shows up after his trip looking terrible
justin is casual and happy to see him but pushes brian off
mel is eating everything in sight
brian offers justin a lift and justin says "It's okay, I'm sure you have plenty more important things to do" -- this is sort of where Justin has given up thinking brian finds him that important :/ and maybe where hollywood has sunk into his brain.
new scene: in the corvette
brian making excuses for not contacting justin and justin just keeps finishes his sentences and says "don't make excuses"
brian drops justin off at PIFA - so Justin is back in school, by... wait Vic died in February so he joined for winter term I guess
this is where Brian genuinely says "by the way, I missed you" and Justin pulls an Ethan: "prove it."
justin's still insecure from brian turning him down before he left?
this is where justin says "I'll see you... [unless I'm in] hollywood"'
new scene: at the gallery
lindsay, sam shows up
I don't honestly care about any of this, but you know what we can say? lindsay has terrible taste in men.
new scene: at a fancy restaurant
michael, justin and brett keller
brett keller is impressed that they made a gay superhero who actually fucks
michael does most of the talking
brett: "I will personally chop the dick off any studio exec who tries [to make rage straight]"
brett is flirting with both of them, charming them and trying to impress them (e.g. he takes a call and says "hey. colin." and mouths "farrell" before winking, but doesn't actually give them any guarantees on paper.)
new scene: at deb's
emmett brings deb some lunch while she's looking at her diner vest and buttons; she won't eat
he's asking about going back to the diner and back to work
horvath at the door - I honestly can't remember when carl and deb broke up
Emmett: "we've got some fruitcake leftover from christmas" -- can't be too soon into january
deb says no to a "bite to eat" with carl
new scene: at the loft
justin raving about brett keller and brian is quiet (obviously not feeling well) but trying to be encouraging
wearing those ugly old briefs
justin: "you know you look really tired." Brian: "just jetlagged. I'm fabulouso, senor"
this is where Justin hears the message from "doctor rabinowitz from the john hopkins oncology centre"
new scene: at the lesbians
sam, charming Mel
Mel says Lindsay went to Carnegie Mellon had a few paintings in exhibits
Sam says "every artist is egocentric"
the three of them in the attic aka lindsay's studio and he doesn't have anything good to say about it, but he does point out that it matters what she thinks about it
sam's a bit like ethan, actually: egocentric and narcissistic, but honest about the work
new scene: at the comic shop
justin confronts michael by saying "did you know?" and then tells michael about the cancer
tells michael what happened, that brian went to johns hopkins
Justin: "if he didn't tell you, and he didn't tell me, then who did he tell?" michael: "my guess is nobody." Justin: "that he has cancer." Michael: "well, um, I'm sure if he wanted us to know he would have told us." etc.
so, here, this is a good point michael, if brian wanted you to know he WOULD have said something, so you should be quiet about it! but otoh, you are the one that fails miserably at this, so like.
new scene: kinnetik
two people walking around: a guy and a brunette woman in a red top bringing information into the meeting
five people in the conference room: brian, cynthia, ted, a youngish looking white guy (art manager?), and a black woman (senior exec/ account manager?)
Brian: "endovir sales are up 15%, since we launched their last campaign and they'd like to rebook next month's issue of the Advocate as well as Pause and Heat. So ted, we're gonna need rates." Ted: "Oh, I'm on it." Brian: "and we're also gonna need a new campaign to follow this one."
The guy (art director: "I already have some sketches for you to look over." The black woman: "and I've got copy to go with them."
Brian: "excellent. What about, uh, Brown Athletics? Did we get the contracts?" Cynthia: "Came in yesterday, with a ten grand deposit." Ted: "Already in the bank..." Ted, looking at Brian, concerned: "Brian? You okay?" Cynthia: "Brian?"
Brian: "Yeah. Uh. Yeah, I'm just. Excuse me. Just a second." he goes into his office to sit down and Ted follow.
Ted: "Brian?" Brian: "I'm fine." Ted: "You sure as hell don't look it, you just about fainted in there." Brian: "I'm just a little tired from my trip, that's all." Ted: "Well, maybe you should go home, you know, we can do this tomorr--" Brian [almost yelling]: "I said I'm fine. Now let's finish the goddamned meeting." Ted: [under his breath] "Don't be so testy"
new scene: at the diner
debbie serving, but getting the orders wrong
Emmett shows up and deb admits she's taken a double shift
Harold, "a friend of Vic's" shows up. says how Vic always was talking about how great their relationship was. makes her feel worse and she drops the tray before starting to sob.
new scene: at deb's place
emmett, deb and michael: arguing about whether deb can go back to work, she refuses to take their help or listen to them
deb keeps saying "you don't understand, you don't have a fucking clue." and michael finally says "why don't you give me a fucking hint"
new scene: at Sam's place?
he is now grossly negging her. "no one could believe someone who's as hot as you could be smart or funny too".
sam: when lindsay says she'll maybe make art like the one piece of hers he liked "maybe someday." "that's just excuses. if you're an artist, nothing stops you." I do really think that this is why lindsay doesn't want justin to give up on striving and be with brian: because she did give it up to be a mother and now regrets it.
otoh, she isn't an artist, not really, because, yeah, justin wouldn't ever give it up. not if he went to dartmouth. so I agree with the fic that says she's jealous of his talent as much as resents her giving up her dreams for the family.
wait, sam just drops trou and lindsay almost drops her pad of paper. so he really is brian only straight. and grosser.
next scene: babylon
"wet willie contest" - justin staring at the cocks, brian telling justin about all the cocks on the stage
michael shows up and is all gross, then brett shows up and brett is not impressed (but then neither is brian so)
brett is all "I'm gonna recreate this for the movie" and ben is a bit of a prick, but also not wrong when he calls brett out for doing projects that mean nothing
justin goes to find brian and lies about not feeling too well to get brian to go home
next scene: at michael and ben's
they're arguing about brett keller, michael: "there is nothing wrong with being successful" ben: "as long as you don't sell out."
ben calls michael naive, and michael calls ben jealous. both are right.
hunter is all sad in his bed hearing his dads fight
next scene: at the loft
brian... is he drunk, letting justin get him undressed? definitely feeling shitty. and justin is doing so very well at being kind to him, letting brian pretend.
brian: "I thought you had food poisoning." Justin: "I guess it was just a tummy ache." justin: "tell me about ibiza." brian: "like I died and went to homo heaven. beautiful guys all dressed in white. and everywhere you went, smelled like, lemon scented air freshener." justin: "sounds great."
brian: "I even fucked a matador." justin: "no way." brian: "ole."
as brian passes out, justin starts crying. this is so sad.
next scene: at ted's condo
michael slept on the couch and ted is an ass when he wakes him up
since michael's on the couch, ted must have a one-bedroom
ted says he did the same thing with emmett's business. ted points out: "you can't turn yourself into a failure to make your relationship a success" when michael thinks about dropping the movie thing
next scene: at the comic store
brett looking through the comic bins, brett says "guys I'll be in touch"; justin is definitely dragging
justin says he should tell brian and michael says he can't and is then an ass (michael: "I love him enough to honour his wishes")
next scene: at horvath's office
emmett telling carl all of deb's grief problems and that no one can get through to deb but maybe carl can
next scene: in lindsay's house studio
mel points out lindsay is happy and mel is glad she has inspiration (but also seems to see that lindsay has a crush)
next scene: at the loft
brian and michael smoking up and eating chinese, shooting the shit
brian insists that mikey tell him the story of linda hurley, aka linda the hurler. she hurls on him in our town on stage when they were supposed to kiss
Brian: "and now hollywood is calling on Rage. the movie." michael asks if he's gonna come to the premiere. Brian: "Why wouldn't i?" Michael: "I want it to be at that theatre. you know, the one with all the stars footprints?" and is all "michael and brian, immortalized forever, just you and me".
this is actually a poor plot point, but whatever.
michael starts crying and brian's all concerned or whatever. michael: "I know. I know you didn't go to ibiza. I know you went to john's hopkins and you had surgery, for... oh god. If I lose you I don't know what I'l do."
and of course brian has to now comfort him. so Brian does: "hey. I'm okay, I'm okay."
Michael: "I wasn't supposed to tell you. I told him not to tell you." Brian: [suddenly worried? concerned or angry?] "who?" Michael: "Justin. he uh, overheard the doctor leaving a message on your machine and he called the hospital." and immediately brian is no longer all reasonable and reassuring michael, pulls away, shakes his head.
next scene: at debs
deb is watching the shopping network, holding the phone?
carl is at the door, tries to comfort her and brings up "so much left unsaid." then he tells the story about how his wife "celia" died [lung cancer]. and how she was scared to die alone, and he promised not to leave or let her die alone, but he left, because he was so angry at everything, he went out and had a drink "I had so many I lost count". when I got back she was dead.
carl points out that deb isn't forgiving herself -- then she breaks down for real.
next scene: at ben and michael's
ben and hunter; hunter asks if michael's coming back or not and ben's like "of course he's coming back".
hunter points out "what happens to me if you guys break up?" and when Ben's like "no one's breaking up!" hunter's like "I'm just asking in case I have to make other arrangements."
michael comes back and apologizes.
brett keller sent the option agreement -- and michael tells ben "yeah, we're gonna do it."
ben is obviously not that happy but trying
next scene: at the loft
justin comes in while brian is sitting at his kitchen table tearing up cigarettes, "I picked up some movies, thought we could stay in and watch them."
brian's angry (lashing out in fear, obvs): "what'd you bring? terms of endearment? Love story? my boyfriend has fucking cancer?" <- this is the first time Brian's said, out loud, that he's Justin's boyfriend, isn't it.
Justin: "Why didn't you tell me?" Brian: "Maybe because I didn't want you to know. Or maybe because it's none of your fucking business!" Justin: "Brian. I'm your partner." Brian: "Not anymore, I don't want you here, now get the fuck out." Justin: "Cut it out." Brian: "I said get the fuck out." Justin: [here, his voice starts to break] "Brian, I love you and I wanna help you." Brian: [who actually puts his hands on Justin to throw him out] "Get the fuck out!"
aaaaand, no music, no extra emotion, that is the end of the episode.
