Plagiarism allegations currently levelled against me and evidence of my innocence
I'm sorry for posting so many times on this hard topic. But yesterday @freewld (https://www.tumblr.com/freewld) asked me, "You reversed, traced and plagiarised my drawing, didn't you?" I received a DM saying. After discussion, I was given permission to publish a verified image of me and her drawing by overlapping them. Below is her art, all of which I have permission to publish.
The picture on the left is my illustration that is allegedly being used in this case. And the picture on the right is the one she claims was plagiarised by me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She says: " When my drawing is inverted, angled and overlapped, there are a number of places where the lines overlap. I believe you must have traced my drawing because there are too many places where the lines match for it to be a coincidence".
See the verified image she created by overlapping our drawings on her Twitter feed. (another)
To be fair, I also made a verification image and video.
When two pictures are overlapped with respect to the line of Seb's right eyelash.
Tumblr media
When two pictures are superimposed on the basis of the lines on both cheeks of Seb.
Tumblr media
I draw every time using the screenshots I have taken of Sebastian as a reference, and probably she does too. I would argue that if I draw a picture with reference to a 3D model of the same 'Sebastian Sallow' character, it is only natural that the two pictures should be similar. If one tries to express his individuality - the distance between his eyes and eyebrows, the length of his nose and philtrum - in a drawing, it is natural that some of the lines will overlap.
In the first place, to claim 'plagiarism by tracing', most of the lines need to match, but there are not many places where the lines of the two pictures overlap completely. It is my contention that this cannot be evidence of 'plagiarism by tracing'.
I believe I have proven my innocence to the world with these two superimposed verified images and videos.
However, @freewld is using Twitter's survey feature to solicit third-party impartial opinions on the allegations.
Tumblr media
This is the current voting result.
Tumblr media
Incredibly, the majority of votes went to 'I think Tamayula plagiarised'.
I think this voting system might not be fair because as you know, X(Twitter) allows a single user have multiple accounts and actually I currently have eight accounts on X(Twitter). Therefore, I wonder if it can work properly as the third-party impartial opinions because some users might vote this multiple times by using their own multiple accounts.
And I've only been back on Twitter for about a week and have only about 200 followers. In contrast, @freewld has been running her account for 10 months since March 2023 and has more than three times as many followers as me. It is a voting system that overwhelmingly favours her.
With such a voting system, there is no way she can prove that I have plagiarised. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this poll will be, but even if the result is more votes for 'I think Tamayula plagiarised', I will continue to maintain my innocence and I will not apologise to her.
Finally. I have tried to be as honest as possible over the past few days and have continued to assert my legitimacy in Japanese HL fandom, but it is no longer possible for me to deal with this matter any more. I feel ridiculous about everything now. I hope everyone can understand my disappointment a little.
Thank you so much for reading this long sentence so far. I am taking a short break for just a few moments.

Akira Toriyama (1955-2024)
Tumblr media
I wouldn't say I'm feeling better today, but I'm feeling less bad than yesterday. So let's see if I can put some words together.
In case anyone still hasn't heard, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024. This news was made public on March 7 or 8. I woke up early on Friday morning and found out while I was checking Twitter. I had a long, busy day at work, and I kept getting on my phone to scroll through fan reactions and tributes.
I think that, more than anything, is what's gotten me so worked up about his death. My Twitter timeline and my tumblr dashboard were just chock full of touching message and images about how Akira Toriyama's work has changed their lives. I wanted to write my own tribute, but I'm not sure what else I can say that hasn't already been expressed by Archie Comics, professional wrestling trio The New Day, and the Republic of El Salvador.
There's this immense, global community of fans, and it's easy to lose sight of just how big it is. It's easy to get bogged down in the infighting and petty squabbles. I saw one tweet responding to the criticism of Dragon Ball not being like this "entry level" franchise compared to other, more high brow anime and manga. It's popular with so many people, that critics will assume it's designed to appeal to the lowest-common-denominator. But the opposite is true! Dragon Ball is accessible, which is how so many people from so many different places and walks of life can get into it. The guy telling the story was such a master storyteller that he could grab an audience's attention and make it look easy. So easy that the haters would start to think that it was a trick, and he must be overrated.
Let me talk about this panel for a minute.
Tumblr media
Last night I started going through the original manga, looking for panels to screencap. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but I thought maybe a selection of panels that really stood out for me might be worth posting. I'll probably still do that one of these days, but I got to this one, where Gohan tells Chi-Chi about Goku's death, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
This was a powerful scene in the anime, of course, but in the comic it's even more profound. It's just one panel, no dialogue, because the reader already knows what's happening here. We know Gohan is telling his mother that Goku died in the Cell Games, and that he refuses to be wished back, because he thinks his presence on Earth will attract new enemies. It was hard enough to hear when Goku said it to Gohan and the others, and now Gohan has to relay that message to Goku's wife. All she can do is lie prostate on the floor and weep.
And look at the composition. She's surrounded by all that negative space. Gohan's there for her, but she still feels so alone, surrounded by her husband's absence. Pots of flour for food he'll never eat. An empty chair he might have sat in. Their son, who will have to grow up without him.
I saw this, as though for the first time, and it was so gut-wrenching that I had to post it by itself. I felt like it summed up my feelings better than any words could. We're all Chi-Chi in this panel, reacting to Akira Toriyama's death. And we're all Gohan too, each of us consoling one another with our own thoughts and tributes.
So what did Akira Toriyama mean to us all? Lots of people have answered this in a lot of different ways. Obviously his art, storytelling and cultural impact speak for themselves. I've seen people compare him to other luminaries like Jack Kirby and Osamu Tezuka. I'll try to add my own two cents with this:
Tumblr media
I wrote a post about "Dragon Ball Daima" back when it was first announced, and I led off with this image of a note from Akira Toriyama. I guess this was from some big fancy presentation about Daima at a convention. I forget which one. In particular, I was skeptical that the Daima rumors were even true, and if they were, the whole idea seemed half-baked to me. Turning Goku into a kid had been done before, and it wasn't exactly successful the first time.
But this note from Toriyama was very reassuring to me. More than the trailer clips and character designs, this was what got me interested in the show. That's because he took the time to not only hype up the show, but also to explain what's going on behind the premise. He took the time to tell everyone that he's working on this show, and what "Daima" means, and why all the characters get turned into kids. It's "due to a conspiracy", and the good guys will have to "fix things". In short, he established a plot, conflict, and resolution to the story. He didn't just slap this together to sell new merch. I'm sure that was part of the motivation to make Daima, but there's more to it than that.
I think that's the loss I feel with Toriyama's passing. It's not that there won't be new Dragon Ball stories in the future. I'm sure others will continue telling their own versions long after I'm gone. I'm not that worried about the fate of Daima. I'm sure they'll figure something out, whether it's delayed, rewritten, or canceled. But we'll never see another message from Toriyama to promote a new project, and that's what I'll miss. From here on, his credit will just be an acknowledgement of his past contributions.
There's this great credibility with Akira Toriyama's name. Fans will argue about how involved he was in a project as a way of establishing how good or bad it was. Dragon Ball GT has his name on the credits, and he provided some designs and artwork early on, and for some fans that proves the series has his endorsement. For others, the sole problem with the show is that he wasn't directly writing the script. There's similar debates over Dragon Ball Super, where he was involved, but only writing those mysterious "notes". So if a fan doesn't like something in DBS, who do they blame? Did Toriyama lose his touch, or did his co-creators fumble the ball? Dragon Ball Evolution basically ignored all of Toriyama's advice and bombed, while Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Broly, and Super Hero all put Toriyama's writing credits up at the very beginning, and each film made plenty of money. I read his comments on the Daima confirmation, and immediately thought "Okay, this should be pretty good. Akira Toriyama knows what's up."
That's gone now. I mean, there's still a lot of talent out there, but we'll never again have the little gas mask-wearing robot telling us that this story will be good because he worked on making it good. I don't think I really appreciated how much I trusted that guy until now. I still can't believe he's really gone.
I'll probably have more to say about this in the coming days, but I'll stop here for now. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit on this.

im not sure if you read the callout doc, but everything within it is very transmisogynistic and ableist. feel free to reread, but this time take it in.
I've read all the documents. From day 1.
Let's talk.
Let me start by saying that I am both trans and disabled.
Alex was never outed as a paedophile. Twitter morons making memes made that up with their lack of reading comprehensibility. The document was ALWAYS about how Alex fosters parasocial relationships with his fans, many of whom were minors within private enclosed spaces (servers). He spoke inappropriately with people from a position of power. As a 20 year old, it is YOUR responsibility to know that trauma dumping and suicide baiting kids is something you DON'T DO. That is what this is all about. People made memes on twitter, spread misinformation, and made it so that it's very difficult for people to find the original sources.
Much of the so-called 'evidence' supporting Alex are deep faked images that were NEVER part of the original document. That Hooters image was never in the original source or any of the victims' statements.
Alex's close friends, work crew, and associates have confirmed that he behaves like this behind closed doors and have stepped away from him. If it weren't true on some level, his friends and other people in the horror scene wouldn't have done this. They would've, if anything, supported him or at least told people it may not be true.
There was no transmisogyny in the original doc. It was made clear that Alex used any pronouns from the get-go. Numerous accounts of his (like his Tumblr for instance) publicly says he uses any pronouns. Just because the inappropriate behaviour occurred in a 'gender identity server' doesn't mean the whole situation is about calling out someone for talking about their gender identity - the situation is about him making servers mostly filled with minors and forming parasocial relationships with them to the point he would suicide bait and rely on them for mental health support. Additionally, all of his victims are trans or genderqueer in some way. This isn't about Alex potentially being trans at all. This is about his behaviour and lack of taking responsibility when talking to his fans.
As for ableism, yeah, Alex is probably mentally ill in some way. I have seen his rambling messages, we are aware that he was supposed to be getting professional help at numerous points and refused to because it meant he would have to take accountability. Just because Alex is likely unwell, it doesn't mean he is suddenly exempt of being held to a better standard or that he can't take responsibility. I am mentally ill too, I have done shitty things to my friends too, but I still took accountability and did the work. I went to therapy, made amends, and did better. Alex was confronted and didn't - instead they would suicide bait and manipulate. Calling out someone who's mentally ill for their inappropriate behaviour when they, time and time again, refuse to get help or even admit they were in the wrong isn't ableism.
Alex isn't guilty of being a paedophile. But he is guilty of being irresponsible when talking to fans and minors, fostering parasocial relationships, and refusing to acknowledge that his behaviour was wrong (even though he has admitted to knowing he hurt people). He needs help and needs to do better, much, much better. I am saying all of this as someone who is waiting to hear Alex's side of things, too, but it is undeniable that he has been inappropriate and abused his position of power as a creator. He seems like a person struggling through a lot, but that is no excuse for his behaviour. You can be mentally ill and/or trans and still be a shitty person who has done shitty things.
I hope Alex gets help. I do. But people in his position need to be called out for their actions or they will not change. I know this from personal experience.
This is all I'm saying on the matter until Alex makes a statement on things. In the meantime, support the victims and read their original statements on twitter (donutqq_qwq has compiled a thread of all of the victim statements).

It's hard to be nostalgic about Tumblr without remembering my friend Tru.
Truett McGowan.
What a fantastic name.
We met each other because we were both tech geeks following Leo Laporte. He was the very first live streamer. Originally he hosted a TechTV cable show called The Screen Savers. But once G4 took over and focused more on video games, Leo's show was cancelled and he was looking for a new way to broadcast content.
So he built a studio near his home and created his own infrastructure in order to live stream video on the internet. He called his new show "This Week in Tech" or TWiT for short.
Tumblr media
Along with his new streaming venture he created a TWiT community using an open source microblogging platform called Laconica. It was a form of Twitter that you could create specifically for a single community. Basically a custom niche Twitter feed. I was trying to be a web designer back then, so I created custom themes for Lacnonica.
Tumblr media
This was my own personal theme for a website that I ended up never launching.
Tumblr media
Leo called his custom Twitter, "The TWiT Army." And I was his graphic designer and webmaster. I made all of the cute little graphics for the website.
Tumblr media
I also did fun holiday themes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the Thanksgiving theme, if you hovered over the Turkey it would change to being cooked.
I also took it upon myself to photoshop a little army helmet on the avatar of every single user of the site.
Tumblr media
This was the zombie avatar I made for myself during Halloween.
Tumblr media
The TWiT Army was also where I started posting my first attempts at Photoshop comedy. Many of them related to The TWiT Army.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And The TWiT Army is where I met Tru. He used a space invader avatar. I made him a couple of different versions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may have seen his avatar on the sidebar of my main Tumblr.
Tumblr media
We became fast friends. We finished each other's jokes. We talked pretty much all day, every day. He loved Apple back then. I was strictly PC at the time. So we debated about that quite a bit. He would probably be astonished I have a MacBook and that I really love it too.
Our friendship lived in a little text box. We never talked outside of instant messages. But it was one of the most profound friendships of my life. I loved Tru just as much as any friend I've ever known in real life.
Tru started blogging on this brand new site called Tumblr. He reviewed apps for the iPod Touch. Not the iPhone, as that wasn't yet a thing.
I made the banner for his Tumblr.
Tumblr media
He kept trying to get me to join Tumblr, but I was busy trying to create my own custom comedy website. But my site kept getting more and more complicated and I could never quite finish it. I was trying to arrange guest authors and create 3 months of content and I was always futzing with the theme and never happy with it.
I was getting frustrated that I could never launch my perfect comedy website and Tru suggested just making a Tumblr and posting funny stuff so I could be creative and have an outlet until my big site was ready to launch.
Little did I know Tumblr would end up being my big comedy website. Eventually I abandoned months of work and just stayed on Tumblr. All of my success here is pretty much because that little space invader pestered me to join when I was being stubborn.
Unfortunately, as some may have figured out already, the story gets sad from there. Tru mentioned briefly that he had a heart defect, but he never said it was serious. He acted like it was no big deal so I never thought too much about it.
We always talked through instant message and email, so we never exchanged phone numbers or addresses or anything like that. Tru was a very private person so he never even published an image of his face online. I only knew him as a space invader.
One day I woke up and sent him a message and got no reply. He usually woke up before me and answered as soon as I said hello. This had been our routine for nearly a year.
An hour went by. Two hours. Three hours.
It was odd for him not to respond for that long. I was really worried but all of my TWiT friends told me I was being paranoid. But there was a huge knot in my stomach telling me otherwise.
But then those hours turned into days. Days into weeks. Weeks into months. My worry grew exponentially as more time passed. I didn't know what to do. I tried finding his family. I even looked into hiring a private investigator. I don't know if I have ever felt a combination of depression & anxiety that intense.
In my heart, I knew what had happened. I knew that heart defect took his life. He was only 26 and it just didn't seem fair. But the not knowing for certain ravaged my mental health. Before all of this I had lost nearly 90 pounds and I gained it all back.
I think maybe a year or so later I found a friend of his who knew him in real life. They were finally able to confirm my suspicions. He passed away from his heart condition. That was my first real experience with grief. But I was so thankful for that bit of closure. I was finally able to let go of my anxiety and mourn him properly.
But Tru gave me such a wonderful gift. He pushed me to just start making things. To stop stalling and just create things to make people smile.
And you all probably know the rest from there.

Hii!! I agree with your points and your interpretation is valid. But just wanted to say that I think that using a guy character not acting like a pervert and borderline assaulty around women as a proof of them not being attracted is a very flawed and harmful logic (talking ab the scene of Komaeda falling under Mikan’s skirt you mentioned). I’m attracted to women but if I fall under girl’s skirt or witness an embarrassing situation I will be uncomfortable too. Komaeda’s reaction is how a normal respectful person would react and I’m very saddened that the amount of pervert anime characters has normalized such behaviour
That's super fair! I only realize now I am using it under the expectations of Danganronpa since there are so many perverted characters in the franchise, you're right and thank you for pointing that out. That actually is really upsetting now that you mention it, yeah I'm going to edit that out ew.
I've made posts on twitter of small, even if silly, praises about how Nagito seems to really value consent. He's always the loudest and most annoyed about teruteru's behavior, and within the franchise he's the one who's the most respectful and realistic when it comes to the problematic subjects. It's sad that not every character is as respectful as him. In fact almost all of the dr2 male cast is crushing on girls, some being gross about it, the only ones who don't are Nekomaru and Nagito. Crushing on girls is definitely not the issue, but half of them being gross about it is.
Just to redeem the example because I'm upset by it here's some instances of his weird somewhat lack of interest in women that we've seen or general vagueness
Chiaki saying this isn't as straightforward but it still implies her being sexy wouldn't work to get Nagito's attention which still says things about his possible disinterest or respectful nature maybe even both.
Tumblr media
During fan service scenes in every manga adaptation he never blushes while every other character does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He avoids the question of sexuality every time it's asked, he either doesn't know it himself, doesn't think about it because he thinks he's unworthy, or has to beat around the bush because he's closeted. Although outside of characterization wise it may just be kodaka staying vague because that's the common pattern Lmao. The question is avoided during Q&as and during ultra despair girls he just ignores Kurokoma altogether lmao (would add more but image limit on mobile is my worst enemy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i've seen multiple interpretations for this so just ???
Tumblr media
Either way the status of canon is: Nagito shows interest in men and we see he has sexual desires, he's anything that isn't straight or aroace. He doesn't show evident interest in women and there's been no official word on his sexuality, it is up in the air when it comes to specifics. He is absolutely a queer coded character, whether he's gay, pan, bi, or something else there's no doubt about that. I believe Nagito is gay because there's a lot of evidence supporting this, I think it also makes his storyline more impactful. But at the end of the day there is no said canon and people are free to headcanon what they want to, whatever people say that isn't invalidating important parts of his character we actively see is preferred.

Replies
Skipped the day yesterday because my PC died, but I’ll try to write more replies today!
Starting with the ones related to our recently posted drawings~ But there are also some about twst characters and ships: Malleus, Riddle, Sebek/Jamil and many many more.
hipsterteller asked:
*sees Azul and Idia making out* welp someone better take a picture
I’m pretty sure Jade and Floyd are already on it. Maybe Ortho too, but for more wholesome reasons than the tweels…
hipsterteller asked:
Dang it Kalim…
He just HAD to ask Jamil to come back as soon as possible!
Anonymous asked:
~ 🎵 There goes the vizier hauling ass, like always 🎵 ~
Lmao thank you for the mental image of Jamil racing through the streets of Silk City in his big-ass robes. Looks like he forgot to get the food though... Maybe he and Kalim could have some fish for dinner?
You’re welcome~ Poor Jamil, getting food from the store isn’t even his job, but he was nice enough to go, and for what? To race right back through the streets of Silk City in his big-ass robes 😭
If Azul, Jade and Floyd didn’t bring them a pizza this time, they’ll have to have fish for dinner…
Anonymous asked:
Jamil is gonna murder these people, he doesn't care if he gets in trouble. That reminds me, does the...oh who am I kidding, of course they knew Jamil is acting like a snake by using Kalim again.
Jamil is so sick and tired of them, it’s been 30 seconds and he is already done LOL
They probably haven’t seen each other in quite some time, and Jamil isn’t planning on doing his subtle-Kalim-seduction thing in front of these three, but I have a feeling they’ll still notice that there is something going on between them. They know a snake when they see one…
Anonymous asked:
We seen the mafia Octavinelle often visiting Scalding Sands, but what about the Shrouds visiting there since they are often with the mafia?
Oh Ortho would love to visit, but he doesn’t usually get to go with the Octavinelle trio and stays by Idia’s side; and Idia probably hates the idea of visiting Scalding Sands, because it’s way too hot, and Kalim and Jamil are there, and Kalim is annoying and Jamil is scary, and the whole thing is going to be awkward, what is this really, a college reuinon? Yada-yada, mumbling Idia noises.
But still, they’ll visit them at least once. Even if Azul isn’t persuasive enough, Ortho’s puppy eyes are going to break Idia’s will for sure.
snowblub asked:
Whenever I see a post of yours and I know it's yours btw I look at what's there then forget I'm following you then go up to press follow and then realise that I do follow you. Short memory struggles... The amount of times this has happened is a bit embarrassing ngl.
But at least now you know that you got someone who would follow you a hundred times if possible?? I just thought to tell you.
AHHH This is so sweet of you?? Thank you so much. The fact that my drawings give you an urge to press follow despire already following is such an amazing thing to hear! <3 <3 <3
Anonymous asked:
I made the mistake of showing a newer friend your twitter account, I did warn them...😭😭😭
Like yes I like you BEACUSE your problematic, someone has to speak for us :(
~Anon <3
Ohh, I hope you didn’t have a bad fight with them, Anon. Having arguments and even falling-outs with friends because of ship-related content is always unfortunate :(
We can only speak for ourselves, but if you feel seen/inspired by the fact that we have the audacity to post our problematic stuff, I’m very happy to hear that!! <3 Thank you for supporting us.
Anonymous asked:
I've also been thinking about how Malleus threw off the dom/sub radar, and I think it's funny if he throws off everyone else's radar too and even himself guesses whether others are doms/subs wrong like 90% of the time LOL that's how we got rollo & mal flirting with each other, both convinced the other is going to rail them later that night, only to be met with disappointment😔 it's okay boys, there are plenty of gargoyles in the sea....
Anon THIS! I COMPLETELY AGREE lol Especially with Rollo and Malleus; I don’t know if Rollo expected anything from Malleus (he was being a tsundere, that’s for sure), but Malleus clearly read the room in… his own way…
We like to joke that this happens because Malleus learned the art of flirting from Lilia.
Now I can’t stop imagining Malleus’ confused blinks when he learns about the dom/sub positioning of some of the couples.
Anonymous asked:
Do you think Epel would like Heathers?
I don't know, Anon, I think Epel wouldn't really get Heathers 😭 But he'll appreciate the fact that it's less "girly" and more intense.
Anonymous asked:
"azul is only hot when he's angry" anon here. i changed my mind. i saw the light. im a redeemed soul.
Ah Anon! It’s good to hear back from you and see that you are no longer a hater of Azul’s natural immeasurable sex appeal. I’m sure Azul would be very pleased to hear that (and sexy) <3
(But in all seriousness I do wonder what made you change your mind…)
Anonymous asked:
I don't know if he's ever expressed a desire to become one in canon, but occasionally I cone across fics and fanart that portray Riddle as a Prosecutor. Every time I end up imagining him as an Ace Attorney rival and then end up laughing because I picture Phoenix thinking 'I thought I was done with the Von Karmas.'
Anon, he fits the role of an Ace Attorney Prosecutor PERFECTLY, and he would be SUCH AN ANNOYING BITCH TO PLAY AGAISNT LOL We love Ace Attorney very much, so we also joke about Riddle being a prosecutor from time to time. I have at least one sketch related to this topic but we posted it on ko-fi.
Our go-to is usually to give Ace the Attorney role, not only because of his name, but also because him being confrontational with Riddle is always a fun thing to imagine.
Imagine Riddle’s angry sprites as a prosecutor… he’s even worse than some of the Von Karmas… at least he doesn’t use a whip I guess lol
Anonymous asked:
i saw this sebejami doujin on pixiv and Sebek is my favorite boy along with Ortho so, what do you think about their dynamic?
They’re intriguing! It’s always interesting when someone who isn’t Malleus gets Sebek’s kind-of-sort-of-approval (a very important achievement I know), and Jamil somehow managed to do it. Maybe it’s because he managed to sit through Sebek’s hours-long rant about Malleus’ grateness in that one vignette, but it honestly shows just how interestingly their personalities play based off each other. Jamil is constantly done with everyone’s bs, but he’s unfrotunately tolerant enough to take a passive role and listen. But he is also enough of a tease to enjoy Sebek’s “cute” and silly moments, like when he watched him almost fight a goat during the Glorious Masquerade event. So I feel like to him Sebek would be a massive pain in the ass (and let’s be honest, with Jamil – who isn’t?), but also have his surprisingly endearing moments.
But this is based on their interactions in the Glorious Masquerade event + that one vignette in which Jamil promised to listen to Sebek’s odes for Malleus lol
blackbutlerfandomnerddomain asked:
Do you have any headcanons of if it's revealed Lilia and Malleus are married or at least SHOULD be? Cause, again, the idea of Silver never questioning kisses and what not until NRC when they said I Love Yous and kissed in public and someone pointed it out is so funny to be
The thought has never occurred to me because to be honest, just like Silver, I never question anything that Lilia does lol
But I can picture some people from the NRC being confused about Lilia and Malleus’ relationship, because they’re definitely closer than just being friends… so while I’m not sure if they would think about them as a married couple(or who should get married), some people definitely think they’re banging lol
And Silver is very chill about it… if only these people knew the whole truth about Lilia’s relationship with both Silver and Malleus… marriage is the last thing that would come to their mind lol
blackbutlerfandomnerddomain asked:
Hot take: Deuce gives Jack boob-jobs aka when you put a boner between the pectorals aka breasts/boobs and either the person receiving would move against the chest or the one who's chest is being used would squeezed their chest together and bounce. Thank my cousin for this random headcanon, never needed to know this was a thing but here we are
This 100% should be a thing, and Deuce 100% should do that, because Jack deserves it!!
This also 100% wouldn’t be Jack’s idea, so… I’m looking at Deuce knowing that he has seen this before. What are you reading/watching in your free time, Deuce?

Are You Normal about Furries, Bronies and Neopronouns? And More Social Justice Litmus Tests You're Probably Failing
Listen—
I'm not saying that you have to like Furries. I'm not even saying that they're not cringe.
What I am saying is, this: just like any other fandom, there's what people find the most accessible part of the fandom (ie, the Loud part) and then there's what people find solace in. The first hurdle, at it's core, is asking the question: are you okay with weirdos that you personally don't like, understand or associate with? Are you okay with seeing a furry on TikTok, on Twitter, in real life existing? There are some people who really can't be. And that's how we get to the point where a librarian is bullied off the Internet, armchair headcanonned as autistic and no doubt traumatized. Because, at the end of the day, this question isn't so much "are you OK with Furries?" but have you grown up past the need to have your worldview palatable to you—or do you still need to have easily digestable weirdos to treat them as humans?
Bronies is that next step—mental image the Internet has instilled in a lot of us aside, the question becomes that of nuance. Can you acknowledge that two things can be true?
1) In this day and age, it is not only unfair but illogical to expect and demand that adult fans of a particular media not engage with that media in the ways that they would engage with other types of media. I'm talking about Bronies, yes but also Avatar the Last Airbender fans, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Bluey and countless others.
There's this rise in black and white purity and pearl-clutching type of thinking that ends up like a worse version of every dystopia.
2) Should the adults in these spaces understand that any new additions to that media is not for them and that these spaces that they are apart of are, more likely than not, predominantly occupied by minors? Yes, of course!
The problem and stumbling point for this is... Too many people view this as a one or the other situation. I've seen minors proudly disregard 18+ warnings, I've seen adults arguing with, doxxing and being creeps. I find pro-shippers confusing and abhorrent. I don't have any easy fix for how to approach this. All I can do is put warnings, block/ban any minor engaging in unsafe behavior on my blog(s) [especially if they're brazenly foolhardy enough to announce it] and not be a creep myself. I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to ignore whatever the Internet calls the new "old age" and do my own thing.
Neopronouns—what really is the final boss for some people but not the final boss here.
After being an unpaid gender and sexuality 111 professor for two years, I say with extreme prejudice and exhaustion, ask me for my cashapp before you ask me questions or get to Googling*. Neopronouns have been around since Shakespeare. Singular They predates Singular You as a pronoun. Please go update your resume and do something worthwhile, find a hobby, grow a garden, something, anything else other than being mad at the person using fae/faer, frog, star or bun/bunself pronouns. You don't have to understand it, just respect it. And if you don't want to, maybe just don't engage with them??
Moving on to some newer ones. The major questions are—do you rock with Hawaii and Palestine? The Congo and Sudan? Do you support these places being free? Are you boycotting Starbucks and McDonald's? Are you watching Gaza and Rafah? Are you using your phone and other tech for as long as you can? Avoiding blood diamonds even more now? What are your thoughts about Covid? Are you still masking in public?
As we wind down, I also have to throw in the very basics, the ones that I always base my morals on—do you put the grocery store cart back? How do you treat waitstaff and people that you perceive as having some power over? If you see someone stealing groceries, especially baby formula, what do you do?
Answer these questions in your heart of hearts and sit with it. More than anything, this is specifically trying to call out the Vote Blue No Matter Who crowd and the brand of I'm a Good Person because I'm Better than You Liberal/left-facing centrist.
To be frank with you, I genuinely think that you fail some of the questions spectacularly and that's why you struggle with dismantling capitalism, white supremacy or anything else you claim to be so very against.
Because at the end of the day, when the revolution comes, you will be holding hands with at least one disabled Brony Furry with a name you can't say, neopronouns and dyed hair. Or when it's already too late and the voice of the people has gone deep underground, you will be face to face with the worst of survivors and no gentle voice to guide you through your moral quandary, just bitter, tired activists or people who waffle in the face of what needs to be done.
Your cognitive reasoning will shut down the moment you get offended. You should answer these questions and then sit with why you're offended.
And then if you still have the forethought to type, go donate, go click on the Arab site that's under 90% of activist accounts or bios. I promise you that the energy will be better used for them.
**Googling has become a skill especially in this Age of Misinformation and algorithms—there are always alternatives if you know where to look and again, request how you can compensate for the time and effort it'll take me to find you sources and then we'll talk.

I’m sorry if you already discussed this, what are your thoughts on the narrative "BTS has been/is being mistreated by the music industry" that goes around in the fandom? as much as I am a fan, and I do see some eyebrow-raising stuff + obvious examples of racism and ostracism, I feel like this idea of "Bangtan against the world/they’re been sabotaged" sounds lowkey conspiracy-ish at times. Are they really? Maybe I’m naive, I don’t know. I’m especially lost when it comes to streams and platforms such as Spotify/YT filtering the streams. I mean, the fandom is so huge now and people are playing songs on repeat for the sake of it, it does not seem like a really faire competition to me… they’re not the only ones doing this for sure as it seems to be a common thing in kpop fandoms but it seems like a taboo topic to question it… I guess I’m too old for this, lol (33 yo), i don’t get why people are so obsessed with the ranking and it seems like it keeps feeding the idea that it’s Army the savior of poor mistreated BTS against the whole mean industry (which is probably a pithole anyway). Every time I’ve tried to introduce my friends around my age to kpop, the first thing they always say is that they have a bad image on the genre because the fans are completely unhinged which does not make the music very welcoming unfortunately. I find it sad that fans don’t realize that they’re actually probably doing more harm than good.
Anon 2
My god, BMT, have you seen the whole Spotify/Lisa/ARMY fiasco on Twitter? When will these fans accept the fact that BTS aren’t victims—haven’t been for a long time—and they don’t need ARMYs protection? Then again, of course the behavior will continue when BTS encourage (James Cordon, “got ARMYs right behind us when we say so”, blah blah blah). It’s embarrassing and disgusting 💀
I've said times multiple times and nothing happened to change my mind as of today, but Army is still victimizing BTS because it's an integral part of the fandom's raison d'etre. They need to fight, they need to be the savior. And how many times have I not seen I-Army calling out the Korean fans for not streaming enough which once again, is done as a way to put themselves on this superior position in which the foreigner knows best and is the only one able to save and truly love an uplift this Korean group. But this overall mentality is found across the board. Of course it's dumb.
I saw the tweets for the past two days and honestly, it looks like desperation to me, for something that truly doesn't make any sense. Army is still there in the trences for an imaginary war that has long been won already and they are on the winning side, except they don't want to recognize it because without that war, they have no purpose. In 2022, is BTS a group dependent on streams? Really? Is that a main concern? They made it. They made a long time ago, which only makes this even more ridiculous. For this fandom, numbers will always matter most and not the quality of music, despite preaching that it's the most important aspect they're interested about and the reason why they "stan" BTS. Except they fail or won't admit that this is also about them and how they're in competition with every single person on this planet who is not BTS or BTS-approved.
They make BTS as victims when these so-called victims get to have a stage at Lollapalooza, debut one song on a stadium tour in Argentina, sing at the World Cup and without being a well established solo artist, a place at NPR Tiny Desk. Those are opportunities that came because as a group, they reached a certain level of success and fame that opens those types of doors. They are not debuting a solo song on Music Bank, but on world stages. And somehow, they still need a fandom to fight insignificant battles.

This is a sorta kinda not really vent post? Moreso just something I've noticed and really wanted to talk about for a while now but haven't really found the right words.
One of the cool things about being so deeply entrenched in an online community of artists always has and always will be seeing what those artists put out. Every time Madness Day rolls around I'm always genuinely excited to see what people have made, what someone has been pouring a year's worth of effort into. Art is exceptionally awesome, and I've sort of noticed it's a method of communication of sorts.
One thing I notice about the artists who surround me is that they're all fairly tight knit. They know a guy who knows a guy. Almost every artist in the community that I regularly see can be traced towards each other in some specific or particular way. The most common one I've seen is that they've all drawn each other, or drawn for each other. A tightly woven thread of artists drawing for artists drawing for artists.
Sometimes people get things drawn for them completely unprompted. Didn't even have to ask. They just post something and bam, a few hours later they have an impressive piece just for them from a talented individual who was inspired by whatever they posted. It's a method of showing appreciation for something that gave you that spark to create.
It's something that I can't help but feel a little jealous of. Needy for. I throw ideas for stories out there from time to time, sometimes I even write them once in a blue moon, I make these intricate narratives that it just kind of feels like nobody really...Bothers with. Too long didn't read. On a good day I might get an "Ooh!". Perhaps even a "that's cool!" or two. I just can't help but notice words don't seem to be as inspiring as they used to be.
All the online communities I permeate share one thing in common: They love images. Pictures. Drawings. Artists are inspired by things they can see, things they can draw just by looking at it. Sometimes it's as easy as posting your OC design on twitter and in a matter of hours you could be getting dozens and dozens of drawings without having written even a word of backstory. Strong designs dominate all. If you don't have a strong design, you have nothing. If it's not visually appealing, or visual at all, it may as well not exist.
I see people having their OCs drawn by their friends, of their OCs hanging out with their friend's OC. A representation of a genuine connection between two people. It leaves me wishing that I could have someone draw for me. To be inspired to create just by my presence. Is it selfish of me to want that? To get that satisfaction of knowing that someone created because of me? Of course I can always ask, and I'm certain many of my artist friends would happily oblige, but nothing will really compare to that experience of someone doing it completely and totally unprompted. Who knows, maybe this post will inspire someone to draw for me out of pity, or will me having just mentioned that now completely and totally kill the idea that was formulating in their mind?
I don't know. It's just like many things in life, I feel rather left out in that regard. Sometimes people will say they will draw for me and never do. Whatever creation they had in mind is gone now, and I would hate to feel pushy or perhaps even desperate enough to keep issuing reminders or asking. Why does it feel so bad just to ask? Why do I struggle with it so? How does it somehow feel less genuine when I had to ask for it? It's irrational, but here I am.
Anyway, if I keep going I'm going to write too many paragraphs, so I am just going to leave it here. Just please don't see this post as me whining or begging for art. Anything you draw for me out of pity would be infinitely less valuable than something you drew because you wanted to.

yknow making stuff to feed my milgram obsession somehow has taught me quite a bit about image editing. or at least, image editing using a program that is not quite optimized for it.
struggles with firealpaca aside, i was going through my files the other day and realized that i don't tend to share a large amount of my edits. part of that is due to the fact that many of these are parts of a larger project, so i never really considered sharing them since i want to get to the bigger thing. but another part is due to the fact that the edits are not quite up to the standard that i want them to be at, so i don't feel like they're worth sharing. but looking back at some of these, even though the edits aren't quite to par or are pretty useless, they're still alright, so here's a little showcase of some of the edits i've done thus far!
Tumblr media
there's this pan shot in kotoko's s1 mv, and i went "oh boy! that's an easy edit!" so whipped this together in like 10-15 minutes. i think i just wanted to use this as a banner for something? but that never happened.
[more stuff under the cut]
---------------
Tumblr media
edits of the birthday arts from the amnibus store announcements! these were part of my bigger series of birthday wallpaper edits. these files exist because of some technical layer stuff with the wallpapers. i was more focused on recreating the patterns for that series rather than putting the art on, so these edits weren't really worth sharing.
---------------
Tumblr media
in the milgram server i'm in, a person kinassigned the prisoners flowers, and that gave me the idea for these edits! i gave up because it was surprisingly difficult to find flower photos that i could actually use. i'm proud of how yuno's came out, though!
---------------
Tumblr media
i needed the emblem-logo for an art i was doing, but because i'm really bad at geometric stuff, i did the only logically thing: edit it! back in season 1, the character page had a graphic with the milgram logo right behind the box where es and jackalope would be, so i took some time to edit that, then spent way too much time on the emblem. the emblem itself is a little plain, but it did well enough for the art i was making.
---------------
Tumblr media
back in season 1 after we got some verdicts, i used the verdict arts from the judge page for this one. i can't find the files i used for this edit, but i think i used haruka's and fuuta's verdict arts for this? trying to edit out the characters to just have the sheep and goat symbols with the words around was a bit tricky, so the text ended up a bit scuffed.
---------------
Tumblr media
the artist for the milgram light novel cover released a version without the text over it on their twitter and i really wanted to use it for my phone wallpaper! but the dimensions weren't right for it so quiet and gentle were cut off. i thus made an edit to make it fit better. i'm really bad at recreating art styles though, so when it comes to extending images like this, my solution is to make it burry so you can't see my bs. i think the thing i put the most effort into was extending the book on the floor.
---------------
Tumblr media
this thing took so. much. time!!!! to make. this was partly because i wanted this to be as in tact and clear as possible, so blurring wasn't an option. both of the stars on the desktop and mobile files had parts cut off, so i needed to mash them together and edit out the bg on the mobile version. also as much as i love them, es's head is in the way of the bottom point in both stars, so i needed to reconstruct that bottom part and a part of kotoko that was cut off in both stars by throwing more prisoner stars at it and using kotoko's character art. also fun fact: both desktop and mobile version of the prisoner stars has their top points cut off, but the mobile version less so. but there's no way i'm going to edit out the background again if i have to, so i'm using my edit of the initial star to add the points to the transparent desktop version. and if you've seen my recent word art edits involving the stars, yes i will be doing this for all the prisoners for s2. or at least, i'm planning to. yet despite all the hours i put into it, the seams still are too obvious, so leaving the stars as is isn't really something i want to share, thus why i'm only releasing these as my word art edits for the time being. can you tell from my ranting that these stars left me v tired?
---------------
Tumblr media
the most recent edit. i had the idea to use the max resolution thumbnails from the album trailers as my pc's wallpaper, but there was a problem with yuno's. haruka's (and now fuuta's) thumbnails were extended at the bottom so the art took up the whole 16:9 aspect ratio, but yuno's thumbnail wasn't. instead, it only has those black bars on the top and bottom. of course, i wanted the version with the extension on the bottom, so i extended it myself. trying to recreate the fog effect was tough, and where the og stops and my edit starts is obvious, but it works for my purposes!

Blog run by @transgenderfivepebbles
General Information
Little if any art, for now at least. As much as I'd love to, I'm not an efficient artist, and any substantial amount of traffic would make drawing for every ask take all day :(
All out-of-character text will be marked with [OOC] at the beginning of each paragraph.
Asks are public transmissions, i.e. visible to all characters, by default. Private transmissions should be explicitly marked.
The header is a screenshot by rainworldhourly on Twitter, from Aether Ridge by Kaeporo. All art, including the icon, is original.
Rules and Guidelines
Be a decent person in general. Should go without saying
You may ask about canon characters or OCs that have been previously mentioned. Including your own OC in an ask is fine, too! Just don't expect us to know everything about them '^^
I've seen this happen on other blogs before, so no magic anons or anything of the sort, please! Just simple messages, images are welcome, though.
Sparkle on! Don't forget to be yourself!
Characters are a bit to cover, so below the cut:
Characters
Reflections of Song [ROS] (they/them)
The group senior(s), two puppets in a single large can. Both open for conversation.
Dawn (she/they)
The more chatty of the two. She once managed the eastern side of the duo's (very large!) city, but has since taken up historical archiving as a pastime. They're fond of the memories, and it's fun to see what the folks up there used to be up to!
Dusk (he/it)
Past manager of the city's western industrial region. Talented bioengineer and geneticist, sequencing genomes for many purposed organisms for maintenance and repair. Loves every minute of it. No one knows why, except possibly himself.
Entangled in Promises [EIP] (he/him)
Second oldest, only slightly younger than Reflections. He's not too serious, having abandoned his original purpose long ago, and although enigmatic at times, he's got plenty of stories to tell, and all the time in the world.
Nascent Sparks [NS] (he/they)
Youngest of the local group. They once dedicated themself to the Great Problem before moving onto better, more fun things, like talking to his friends and designing creatures! He loves good company, and will be glad to answer your questions or just talk about anything.
Two Ashen Bells [TAB] (she/her)
She won't answer you. She hasn't spoken to anyone in dozens of cycles, and there's no way she'll start now, for someone she doesn't even know.
…But I suppose you could always try.
———
That's all for now! Hope you enjoy your time here :)

Since it's gonna be disability pride, I think it's important for us to open up a bit about what makes someone disabled and why it's such a large spectrum.
Personally, I have a jumped facet joint in my neck. If you Google it, you'll see some gnarly MRI imaging. Essentially, it means that a part of my neck joint is moved in an unnatural way, and it is essentially crushing the nerves on the left side of my neck. I have pain 24/7, and I take a concoction of medications to dull the pain.
The only "cure" is surgery, but the surgery only has a small chance of actually working, and will most definitely cause me to have spinal surgeries through out my life. Because of this, I have elected to not go through with it and instead apply to disability benefits here in the US.
However, it is not visible outside of an MRI scan. It can be felt, but even then, people can't tell unless they're a professional.
Much of the time, when I'm explaining it to family or strangers, I get many remarks about how it's not that bad, about how you're not that disabled, about how "you seem to get around just fine to me," about how you should work through the pain because everyone has a little bit of pain. I am unable to work more than 4 hours without experiencing pain so bad I become nauceas, dizzy, and it can escalate to muscle pain and migraines. The only way to treat it is to recline.
I just wanna kinda say: just because it's not visible doesn't make me, or anyone else, less disabled. People and doctors and family are going to try to mitigate it, but chronic pain is DEBILITATING in a way that is hard to describe. You're used to it and effected by it literally every moment, and you've forgotten what it's like to be pain free. It's a life I wouldn't wish on anyone.
So if you're not disabled, please keep this in mind and never try to dismiss someone's daily struggles. And if you have a disability, please don't try to play pain Olympics. Suffering is suffering, we all suffer in different ways.
And if you don't think of yourself as suffering, I hope your days are wonderful and pain free, both physically and mentally. To everyone with an invisible disability, whether it be heart issues or arthritis or mental illness, please know that you aren't any less disabled just because you don't move with a mobility aid or have a limb missing.
I've seen people on here (and on Twitter ofc) be absolutely cruel and unempathetic to those who are struggling. I've been talked down to and people still try to convince me it's not that bad. But it is: it is for me, and it is for you, too.
There is nothing wrong with admitting something is difficult or painful, regardless of what it is. Take good care of yourself, be your own advocate, and fight for yourself and your right to exist.

It's that time again for the summary of art! 2022 is on its way out and it was certainly a year...
This was the year of the water tiger in the Chinese Zodiac. I enjoy using Zodiac things as prompts AND my birth year was of the tiger, so that is January's image. I used the lasso tool for a lineless look, it was fun.
February's image is a bunch of air type raptors of a species I have been thinking of for a while. I was trying to flesh out what markings they would have and what kinds of color morphs might exist. (front to back: rare (sunset), common (blue-jay), melanistic (dark), leucistic (light), and albino) Of course they are not finished (I guess headworlds are never really finished) but I would like to someday update my websites bestiary with all the characters and species I've created and these would be one of the featured ones.
March's image is for an Ovipets challenge that I won! It is a Catus with butterfly wings looking at butterflies in a field of clover.
In April I made a bunch of shuffle-style icons and little sprites for my characters for things like their toyhouse pages or my website... so basically a bunch a stuff that won't get posted by itself.
For May here is a sketch of Fulvina from Spectrobes (the thing my Fulvina is named after! I had to draw it eventually, but) I didn't finish it at the time because I was having trouble with the lines, though I do plan on finishing it. Spectrobes as a whole could use some more love!
June's image is Amdy as a Unicorn, as I was seeing Junicorn challenges but didn't want to draw something every single day. I also chose this because well, why do I have so many so-called shapeshifters yet I only draw them in one form? I should show what else they can do!
July is ArtFight month and this time around I found some very cool characters to draw including a dragon named Colors! This was very fun to draw.
August I created a character called Daemon, seen here. Haven't really fleshed him out much though XD.
September Flight Rising released a gene called Soap that makes the dragon extra shiny, and I knew I had to draw it. What better than a vaporwave dragon? Flight Rising has released a LOT of stuff this year now that I think about it!
For October, a WIP of Alban... didn't finish much this month. I wanted to draw some Halloween images and make a bat-sona but that didn't happen in time. Somewhat related, this is the third year in a row I started to feel depressed beginning in October and into the winter, DESPITE loving Halloween and colder weather, so I'm wondering if that's a sign of seasonal depression or something? Yeah.
November's image is more Ovipets, this time dogs (Canis and Lupus) playing in fallen leaves. Used lots of different CSP brushes in this one. (For the single purchase version, of course... as if I'd deal with a monthly subscription for an art program... I don't know who thought THAT was a good decision)
December I finished this piece of Cygnet. I was going to try to draw more for December, but the sheer cold of this country wide snowstorm(!) seems to have put me in hibernation mode, so I'm gonna go ahead and finish with this.
Now's also a good time to say that I still don't mess with ΝFТ's or АI art, (I don't consider either of these things to be “art” and I don't have the energy to argue about it) so I've been experimenting with new watermarks to try and combat that in a subtle way... still watching Twitter catch fire. Still wearing a mask (end date: undefined). Still love playing Legends Arceus... STILL too shy to socialize!! Come on, that's gonna end up being my new year's resolution for like, every year! Gosh XD But I must continue to try... I must..!
As always, thank you for coming by and reading. :3

TUMBLR ADS
A lot of online vitriol about how Tumblr is a broken site, etc. etc.
I'm way behind on deadlines and deliverables but I just have to take a moment to pen some thoughts about this.
Tumblr isn't at the level of YouTube where the ads break up a video and ruin the experience. On YT I really wish they would find a way to insert ads at appropriate junctures, but that might make it too easy for people to skip them maybe. But to interrupt things mid-sentence, to interrupt a SONG, it's too much. (I usually just right-click and open a duplicate video and watch it there, which sometimes works and sometimes opens another ad, so... no real solution in sight yet. Sigh...)
But Tumblr ads are either posts within the feed, or in sidebars (caveat: I'm only on desktop, and have no idea about the app experience). So for us on desktop, it's nowhere near as vile a situation as it is on YT. (Although once I saw two BL actors leaning in for a kiss only to be interrupted by an ad for mouthwash or breath mints or something like that, which was brilliant. 😂)
Anyway you can easily skip past the in-feed ads on Tumblr by tapping the 'J' and 'K' keys if it doesn't interest you. The dashboard feed can be so varied anyway so I don't feel like seeing some random post that's actually an ad really detracts that much from the experience.
The ads in the sidebar are a win-win for me, and I am actually in favor of more of this. (There are ways to balance their visibility, done tastefully, so that ads won't be too distracting. Hopefully they'll get this right the majority of the time.) You don't have to interact with ads if you don't want to, but if they bring in revenue, that can only strengthen Tumblr.
Which brings me to my main point – Tumblr is still a business. It brings in a modest revenue, though I can't find numbers as to how profitable it is. (Profit = revenue or income minus expenses, BTW.)
At the very basic level – if it does not turn a profit, or at least break even – it will SHUT DOWN. It is not a charity; it does not provide a service necessary for life; it is not government-run. IF IT DOES NOT TURN A PROFIT, IT WILL BE SHUT DOWN.
As Tumblr users, we are provided with a free service. There is no cost to us unless you choose to spend. The Tumblr experience is greatly wonky in parts, but there's still a lot to love.
Which is why I can't understand calls to block ads or boycott use of the website.
There are so many posts on here (maybe that explains it?) from people who don't seem to understand this: if money coming in is less than the money needed to keep you alive, YOU DIE. The principle also applies to every system that needs life-supporting input (like nutrients to a plant, food to an animal, fuel to a machine).
ADS BRING IN REVENUE. And Tumblr NEEDS revenue (or income) to stay afloat, they need that revenue to be greater (or at least no less) than their operating expenses, and they need to figure out a way to get that revenue consistently.
The ad situation here isn't toxic the way it is on YT, and it can be lived with. I'm trying to think of ways to support the website that don't hurt my pocket with unnecessary purchases, and ad revenue is one.
Right click on the ads if you will and open them on separate tabs that you don't watch. If it brings in revenue, that's a win-win. Ad revenue is part of life support for Tumblr. And I want Tumblr to stick around. If there's not enough money coming in, who's going to keep the site up and running (and hopefully make the improvements we want to see)? I wasn't around in the early days of the website but even in my short time here I've seen enough positive changes (especially around usability) to be cautiously optimistic for the future (like the number of images per post, better formatting options, etc.).
We need Tumblr to become roaringly successful like Facebook or Twitter before any strike action to hit at the lifeblood of the website (revenue) will result in positive outcomes for the users. But if it gets too difficult or unprofitable to run, it will just be easier for the owners to pull the plug (remembering that Tumblr isn't yet seen as a prized possession in any of the present or past owners' portfolios, having been sold several times, sometimes at colossal markdowns).
"Because we love her so much, let's just throttle our princess bride and force her father, the King, to take better care of her. The King, who's killed so many of his other daughters, will make an exception this time, even though she's not the most favored, the most beautiful or the most useful one to him. Yeah, this'll convince him."
Really? He might join you instead.

Monday 10/5/21 - Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong; A Brief Guide
In a previous post, I had a small rant about how mainstream media is really bad at accurately representing dinosaurs. Today I've decided that I'll help educate the uninformed of what exactly I mean by that.
Many issues with representing dinosaurs come from using outdated scientific knowledge. Sure, scientists believed dinosaurs really looked like this at some point, but some of these ideas are hundred of years out of date. Other inaccuracies come from one outlet presenting an idea as fact, and then many other media forms running with the idea without fact-checking.
Here's a brief guide of some of the most common mistakes/inaccuracies made when representing dinosaurs in the mainstream.
Dragging Tail/Kangaroo Posture
Thankfully this is an issue that is seen less often these days, but the movie The Good Dinosaur recently brought up that pain again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Charles R. Knight, Brontosaurus (now inaccurate), Right: Mark Witton, Apatosaurus (accurate)
Long Necked Dinosaurs in particular often suffer this inaccuracy. Dinosaurs in life would've had a very horizontal body plan, and their tails were mostly stiff rods held almost parallel to the ground, only the end was flexible.
The other way posture was done wrong, also much less common these days, is when bipedal therapods were reconstructed upright, almost in a kangaroo pose. It is more accurate to pose them horizontal too. Picture a cassowary or ostrich with arms.
Tumblr media
Left: William D. Matthews, first restoration of T.Rex, Right: Durbed (Durbed, Deviantart), Tyrannosaurus rex, Source: DigitalAtlasofAncientLife.org
Hand Pronation
One of the most common issues that even otherwise perfectly accurate dinosaur reconstructions get is hand pronation. To clarify terminology here, pronation is the position of your hands when your rotate your wrist to have your palm facing the ground. Why is this relevant? Because dinosaurs could not do this.

It is a problem deeply ingrained in everyday culture now. Ask someone to do a T-Rex impression and they'll bend their wrist inwards and face their palms toward the ground, like a bunny rabbit.
What could dinosaurs do then? On the above image, a bipedal dinosaur's natural hand position would be in the neutral pose, as if they were preparing to clap them together.

Many predatory bipedal dinosaurs used their forelimbs as grasping appendages, so having them in a position where they could actually meet is important. To rotate the wrist, they would need to rotate the whole arm at the shoulder, and this is how modern dinosaurs (birds) flap their wings.
Columnar "Elephant" Feet
An issue with trying to represent extinct animals with few extant lineages is people will use totally unrelated analogues to reconstruct body plans. An inaccuracy not often thought of is the legs and feet of larger quadruped dinosaurs. Artists will often fall into the trap of depicting larger sauropods, ceratopsians, and nodosaurs with thick column legs and tiny toes, like you'd see in an elephant or rhinoceros. But dinosaurs were reptiles and even the thicker heavy-set ones still had very reptilian feet.

Integument/Feathers
One of the most hotly debated questions of the past few decades is the amount of feather covering dinosaurs had. It is now well understood that the presence of even simple feathers is ancestral to nearly all dinosaur groups, but the degree to which integument covered an animal varied between groups. Many dinosaurs in media are reconstructed with naked scales and this is mostly wrong.
In my opinion, the bigger sin is blotching a dinosaur's pelt with small quills here and there, and proper feathering on just the head and tail, maybe arms. Its a very ugly look.

The Good Dinosaur, "Velociraptor"
In most cases, paleoart will tell you that the meat-eating dinosaurs most closely related to birds were definitely covered in a full coat of feathers. And trust me, they look just as cool as the classic scaly Velociraptor.

But feather-haters will often ridicule this take, and push feathering to the extreme, in an attempt to make the idea of feathered dinosaurs a joke. The truth of the matter however, is that the feathering of dinosaurs is much like fur of mammals.
Feathers are foremost, a thermoregulation tool, and much like how elephants are too large to need a thick fur coat, larger dinosaurs like Sauropods, and even Tyrannosaurus, would likely have been mostly naked. Cold adapted relatives of larger species may have had thicker coats, like T-Rex's tundra cousin, Yutyrannus, but for the most part, larger species, or species not as closely related to birds, would've had minimal feathering, but still fuzz of some sort.

I hate the stupid budgerigar T.Rex and it makes me angry every time I see it on my feed.
What we know about dinosaurs changes every time we discover a new specimen, but the rules I've presented in this article are relatively static. If you want to reconstruct Spinosaurus, just know what we currently know as fact will likely change in the next two years or less.
And so this is end of my (relatively) short guide on inaccuracies of dinosaur reconstructions. To end this blogpost, I will reccomend the Youtube Channel that inspired the name for this blog, Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong, where Steven Belletini, a palaeontologist and digital artist, uses toys of dinosaurs sent to him by fans as a starting point to drive conversation about what even is an accurate dinosaur reconstruction.
