Hi I have a question about The Sea-Dragon, The Clubfoot and The Green Queen if that’s cool

I was just wondering. Cuz I think I can kinda see how Alicent interacts with the children and how she feels about them. But I was wondering how Larys does. Like how is he with them? Does he ever try to bond with them? If he does, how does it go? Y’know just general curiosity about what kind of role he fills/plans to fill in their lives and what he feels about it

FIRST A THOUSAND APOLOGIES FOR TAKING SO LONG TO RESPOND I feel like the worst but I was hoping to answer this with chapter 6 of The Sea Dragon but it's taking me so long to finish writing it 😭😭

Ok, Larys as a father. At first I think he's not as present because he's afraid that people will get suspicious if they see him a lot with you and the twins. Also because I think at first he feels uncomfortable with babies and is afraid of ruining it so he keeps his distance. BUT after Larys complains about why Harwin spent the night in your room and Sea Dragon angrily responds that Harwin is doing what Larys should be doing, taking care of the children, things change. Larys starts using the secret passage in your room at night to help you put the children to sleep. I don't see him singing to the twins like Sea Dragon or Harwin does but I think he calms and distracts the twins from their tantrums by talking to them.

I think Larys stops feeling uncomfortable around them when he realizes that Alyn gets excited every time he sees him. Just imagine Larys entering the room and little Alyn already raising his arms waiting for his dad to pick him up.

Honestly, Aethan likes Larys but he prefers to be with Sea Dragon or Harwin because they are more affectionate. The child likes to be showered with kisses, tickled and told that they love him often. And Larys doesn't do any of that.

I know baby Jocelyn isn't born yet but I can't stop thinking about Larys teaching and talking to her about different flowers. I also imagine that one day she interrupts his breakfast to ask him to accompany her to the gardens and help her put together a big bouquet with every different flower they find. She talks like it's a great adventure and with eyes as bright as yours, so Larys ends up accepting. Of course, as is natural, the flowers in the bouquet die at some point and Jo can't stop crying because she lost the flowers that her uncle Larys helped her gather, so he wipes her tears and promises her that every time her flowers wither he will will always help her get new ones.

Conclusion: Larys has a present role in the life of his children although at first it is difficult for him.

so nate is very much the instigator at the begining of their relationship for most everything but espescially the physical aspects, gen is just. very slow moving with initiating that kind of stuff until they reach a certain point, i think it even surprises her that it's something she wants to do and has to get comfortable with, she can be touch averse. however the dynamic shifts once gen feels more settled and then she's definetely the one more likely to drag him down by the lappels at unexpected moments and lay one on him

i'll cheat and pick 2 because i think their relationship has different flavors to it, the swept up passion and the undercurrent of tension from all the secrets

ooh i'll do date night fits as the context is actually something i see happening in my canon for them, they both get off a little on this ^^. nate would love to dress her in something that belongs to him, probably that he's owned for a long time, like a blazer or his leather jacket that would be oversized on her, layered on top of a black dress bc he knows it's her favorite color to wear. and then he'd adorn her with jewelry he bought for her, silver of course, she's a winter color season. she would take him out his layering and put him in a button down with the top few buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up. in his little chinos with a belt on and his hair down and loose it's so over for her she thinks he looks his best when he's dressed like a whorish college professor

nate can weave a better tale just because gen tends to get caught up in minor details and specifics, just gets too pragmatic. as a child she was always interrupting bedtime stories with endless why's and how come's that would drive her nanny up the wall

gennnn absolutely gen the instance where nate tries to prevent her from defending herself did not go over well in book 3, in the aftermath she chose pointedly not to sit by him lol. she will withhold affection, she can be petty and unhealthy about things! she does not have a good frame of reference for healthy relationships so communication can be a bit of an impasse with her. she's growing be patient with her nate.
