It doesn't actually make sense that Fig is doing her school work for Riz though. I believe that Emily made the choice not o pursue the dropout storyline she wanted because of Riz. And honestly, that sucks for her. I'm sorry she's in that position. But there's nothing about Fig's choices or behavior that read as for Riz (her waffling between majors, her refusal to attend classes in the beginning, the lack of conversation between them that would indicate that she knows enough about Riz's feelings/circumstances to be making those choices for his sake (and the history of Riz as a character indicates that those conversations aren't happening off screen)). I appreciate why Emily is defensive. But it bums me out that she's conflating her experience as a player with Fig as a character. And I think it makes the story worse

I think emily as a person loves her husband, yes, but they are currently setting up fig as a paladin of friendship, and like riz is actively and clearly helping everyone to study this year, and made everyone little packets etc, so i genuinely don’t think it’s a conflation to say that fig has seen that her friend is deeply invested in their studies this year and has gotten invested as a result, similarly to kristen not asking fig to become a paladin, but fig wanting to do that because she wants to support her friends and she thinks that would be helpful. Also more generally i don’t think she was ever actually going to drop out because this is a campaign based around going to a specific school, so she would have to just not be there for a lot of pivotal scenes? Like this is a school-centric mystery set during term time, so from the perspective of making a show for an audience, let alone playing with a dnd party, i would be very surprised if they had decided to separate fig from the rest of the party so dramatically

"F-fuck, wait." I stutter out, trying to rub away from the overwhelming pleasure. I am sitting on the couch of the 1 million room, trying to cover my screams. "It's t-to much p-please. I'm sorry I'll be good." I try to get out though the words seem to be nothing but mumbling in a room full of moans. "You move again. I'll gonna make sure I spank that ass raw. If you were wondering how I ended up in this position, we would have to backtrack a bit. Going back to when we were being called down to the fight zone. I was so excited holding hands with Kristen. We had both been a part of the royal family for a while, and when we heard about this opportunity, we were ecstatic. It was a Korean dance TV program, though, so I can say that unlike the rest of my team, I generally didn't expect us to win, well, the show that is. Though that didn't mean we would go easy and let people make a mockery of us. Never know what the future holds. This would be an experience.

I had learned that a certain someone would be here. By that, I entirely mean my wife Lia Kim. We had just recently got engaged 2 months ago, and even though we weren't officially married yet, Lia always referred to me as her wife. When she told me she was invited to bring her crew to SWF2, I questioned it as first, I mean, my girl had the qualifications to be a judge, but just my opinion. Though, I didn't tell her about Jam Republic being on the team, and she wouldn't know until we got there. I had a feeling she would be surprised and slightly angry at the same time.

We walked down the stairs amazed by the architecture of this place. "This is it girls we are here, so chin up and let the confidence run through you. We shall not be caught lacking." I told them, as I smiled and saw Kristen make a gesture for us to keep walking. We finally made it down, stepping into the center of the fight zone. Allowing everyone to get a good look at us. Making their little side remarks and comments. Until we heard the screen come on giving us our team evaluation. We stood there listening to all the absolute bullshit they were saying, I was already pissied with them called Kristen, a backup for Paris and Audrey, just a pretty face. What made me even more pissed was that my fiance said it with that irritating smirk on her face that I usually would love. Not this time. I then heard the comments about me.

Biggy - Didn't Amara create the choreography for Rihanna superbowl?

Halo - If there is anyone I have respect for, Amara, she started out in underground street battles. She managed to even become better than her teacher.

Lusher- It feels like she has lived multiple lives you know, like she has done so much for her age.

Redlic- She is nicknamed Hybe's princess with her being the main choreographer for them. She has created majority of there dances, I wanna see if it's true.

I smirk hearing that comment.

Lia- Jam Republic will be the first to go home, I don't see anything special.

Mina- She has amazing skills and good energy, and it looks like she is special. I'll give you that.

And just like that found my target, one thing about my wife is her ego is fucking huge. She will do anything and everything to prove she is the best. You see, I knew about her issue, and will Mina. So why not play into that? Besides, she literally said Jam Republic will be the first to go home. So payback is about to be a bitch. We sat, and the entire time, I could feel someone's eyes locked on me. I knew exactly who it was, so I leaned closer to Kristen, grabbing her arm and having us basically be hugging at this point. At first, Kristen looked at me a little confused. Now she is a touchy person and didn't mind, but she was trying to figure out why suddenly. Until she looked over and saw Lia glaring at us. Then she smiled, turning to look at me before whispering in my ear, "it seems your girl is quite possessive, huh?" I just smile laughing and nodding.

Now, to any other person, that reaction wasn't weird or considered flirting, but to Lia, it meant war. Eventually, we are told about the no-respect battles. "This will be sp fun." I tell my team while Ling sat there telling us how she is so down to battle. We all go in our respective rooms to change. While I'm on the way to the room, I could see Lia gesturing for us to talk, but I paid no mind. This is a competition, and I'm mad at her right now. We walk in and immediately start changing. I go put on my grey little tank with no bra and some baggy jeans with my thong slightly showing. Might as well leave in impression, Korean strict ass dress code and overall high ass morals be dammed.

We all make it back to the fight zone, and the battles start rolling in. I am simply sporting two stickers, waiting for my name to be called. Crazy how Kristen is a much better battler than me, yet no one thought of that because they were too busy calling her Paris number 2. Well, they will see. Every since I got down here, Lia couldn't take her eyes off me, though it seems neither could Mina. Well, this will be fun. After a while of battles, Kristen is called up with her picking Waackxxxy. I move to the sideline to get a better view of the battle and hype her up. Doing a little more than necessary to pisd off you know who. Then, when Kristen takes the win, I run up and hug her. Finally, I'm glad everyone can see her in her element.

More battles continue until I'm called by Mina. Of course, why didn't I gather she was gonna call me? That makes sense. I walk to the center, hearing Daniel ask for any words before the battle. "I just wanna share the stage with this beautiful woman." Mina states while winking at me, causing the crowd to go wild. I stare at her, giving the doe eye effect before stating, "Then I will make it worth your while." At this point, everyone is tuning into this battle. Mina starts off using a big of hip pop moves, making sure to let everyone be aware of her presence. She even got close to me multiple times, grabbing my grin. When it's my turn to battle, I hear nicki minaj blasting through the speakers. I start off my routine locking and then move into some hip-hop while hitting a split. Then, I get close to her body rolling a twerking until the battle is over, the judges vote in favor of me.

I move over to hug Mina, thanking her for battling me. She holds me close before thanking me as well. I move to put the win on our board and make my way over to Deepndapp, putting the loss sticker on there's. Not before Mina taps my butt on the way over. After I make it back to my team, they are congratulating me, with Kristen placing me on her lap and kissing my cheeks. After a while, more battles continued with me being called us to battle redlic, which was more so not a battle with the amount of hair flipping she did. I literally counted each flip. She made it to 11 before she ended her battle. We eventually make it to a break, with production calling for a commercial telling us to go gather our thoughts and prepare for the next segment. We ordered some food, more so me, because I'm the only one who can speak Korean. As I'm making my way outside to get the food I spot Lia, looking angry as shit. Starting to realize that I kinda went a bit overboard and now I'm low-key scared as fuck.

I grab the food practically trying to run into the Jam Republic room. Latrice opens the door, taking the food from me. Until she sees Lia, "you realize you can't avoid her forever, especially when you were wrong as fuck." I look at her before she tells me to go apologize. I hear Lia yelling, "Amara, get you ass over here." I try to make another run for it until she catches up with me. "Your ass is getting punished. Let's go." I try to apologize to her, hoping that would work, I know I'm far past acceptance. She gives me a look before pulling me in the towards 1 million rooms. Telling everyone to leave immediately and go to Jam Republic's room, they see the look on her face, some to scared to question their leader and others already knowing I'm in for it, and then they all file out. She pushes me on the couch and starts pacing around the room. "Don't fucking speak to me, I can't believe you. Completely walking around whoring yourself out. Knowing everyone in that room wants to be in my position but can't. Its OK, just gonna have to remind you how makes you feel like your in heaven, the only person that can make you cum. Let's get to work then, shall we?"

That seems all very minor artificer stuff, that's like magical chafing dishes or some like Prestidigitations that are effectively like seasonings and stuff like that. Looking at the food, I don't think you see anything, but I think if you are doing Detect Magic, I'm gonna say give me an investigation with advantage from your Detect Magic."

Brennan: "I think you're looking very close at the food, and you just noticed that all of the trucks have the same graphic design on it, even though they're all different businesses, for the wax paper in the little baskets or whatever's in the tinfoil. And as you're looking at it, it looks like a company. And on a 14, I think you see the word, sort of over and over, the logo of whatever the wax paper is. It just says, 'Okay,' with a little green check mark in the 'O.'

Siobhan: "Okay, so that's maybe...the K stands for Copperkettle?"

Brennan: "I think on that, on a 14, as you Siobhan say that, you see that the O and K of Okay, and the faded green check mark in the O, it's a bubble next to the letter K. So there's some kind of subliminal-"

Emily: "Oh, like vote, like choose on the ballot."

Brennan: "Mm-hmm."

Emily: "Okay. That's fine."

Ally: "It's fine."

Emily: "It's just subliminal messaging."

Kristen: "Would you guys back me up if I go say hi to her and try to like, kinda-"

I love music & tagging games so you better believe i went hard on this one. these are a few that have been on repeat lately:

1. This song slaps. I got really into it when it went viral on TikTok but holy heck, this song does things to my brain. My grandma is suffering from dementia and this song has helped me through the loss of her memory and recognition. It's haunting and I know it's gonna be in my Spotify Top 5 for 2024.

2. “I heard that there's a special place/ Where boys and girls can all be queens every single day” HELLO HOW DREAMY 💖 I'll always have a special place for Chappell! She's from very near where I grew up, which is just so cool to see more queer people come from the rural Midwest.

3. I love queer country music. I mean, come on, these lyrics?! "You got a gold star, you're a lady's man, you're fluent in lesbian/ you got a tattoo for your mom above your collar" Very underrated band and def on my heavy rotation rn!

4. Pretty sure Joan Jett's cover of this song was an early sexual awakening for me. I have very early memories of thinking about how cool it was that a woman was singing "now, I don't hardly know her/ but I think I could love her" I just rewatched The Runaways with Kristen Steward bc SHE'S ALSO GOT ME ALL HOT AND BOTHERED RECENTLY. So this song is back on my frequently listened.

5. There is so much to say about this song. Firstly, it's a cover from the original by The Righteous Brothers. Queer country icons Orville Peck and Paul Cauthen formed the duo The Unrighteous Brothers, and they sing love and anti-love songs and I'm so here for it. Hearing Orville crone, "Baby baby, I'd get down on my knees for you" to which Paul responds in this delicious growl, "If you would only love me like you used to do" IT DOES THINGS TO A PERSON 🥵

But Mark is probably my faaavorite especially because of the scene in SitW when he takes Isolde's virginity and tells her all about how she's going to be his good little wife, etc.

--Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean. One of my favorite MacLean heroes! The good girlification of it all, the wry observations. I love it.

--The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe. Joanna heroes in general are good dirty talkers. But I think that this book takes it over the top because there's an entire scene where she's like "I bet you don't even swear" and he's like "O. RLLY." and proceeds to talk her into a storm.

--Every single Mila Finelli hero (Mila is Joanna's mafia romance pen name) has FILTHY dirty talk.

--Eyes On Me by Sara Cate. Kinda necessitated by the fact that the hero begins his relationship with the heroine after discovering that she's a cam girl--she can hear him but can't see him. Also. She is his stepsister. WHOOPS.

--Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco. Some FANTASY ROMANCE DIRTY TALK. Ugh, the massage scene in this book. Envy dirty talks to Camilla about all the things he's going to do to her and how she's basically gonna die for it while massaging her and fingering her. It's great.

--Kresley Cole heroes are also "generally good dirty talkers" but books like Lothaire, Pleasure of a Dark Prince, and The Master really hit it outta the park for me with the dirty talk

--The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan has a delightful accidental phone sex scene in which the hero and heroine, ~platonic best friends~ unintentionally get each other off over the phone. It's GREAT.

--Grace Callaway writes uniformly strong dirty talking heroes. Would especially recommend Pippa and The Prince of Secrets and Charlotte and The Seductive Spymaster on this level.

--Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield is real good on the "stepfather role play" dirty talk front. REAL REAL GOOD.

--Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley OOOOOH Mac Mackenzie is super dirty. But also so funny? He's always like "TELL ME ABOUT YOUR NAUGHTY SCHOOLGIRL DAYS" fully knowing that she didn't do anything naughty as a schoolgirl lol

--Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt has the MAGNIFICENT Asa Makepeace who just talks her through it the entire book. I also love the deranged dirty talk in Duke of Midnight--"TAKE MY COME FOR IT'S ALL I CAN GIVE YOU'.

--A Holly Jolly Ever After by Sierra Simone and Julie Murphy is a great Christmas romcom that happens to have a Big Boy hero who's an amazing dirty talker.

--The Duke Gets Desperate by Diana Quincy has a WHIMSICALLY ZANY dirty talker duke of the "paint me a vivid picture with your dirty talk" variety.

Okay, I appreciate you suggesting that the couch is going to be a letdown - and you were brave to do so where the couch theory reigns supreme here, LOL - because I think it will, too. And can I just emphasize why I find the couch discussion so frustrating???

Here's what OS said after 6x11:

"STARK: I love that the fans have picked up on the symbolism of the couch. Buck is attached to this symbolism of couches being related to relationships, and that's not something that's actually going away anytime soon. Up until Buck's very last scene of the season, we'll see that symbolism at play."

So we can guess that Buck's very last scene is him on a new couch that he picked out, at peace and ease with himself, showing that he's content with NOT being in a relationship, right? (Because I really don't think that he's going to end up with Natalia).

Then what exactly was the point of him in the armchair after 6x1? Because OS said this to Variety in a post-episode interview:

"I think that whole couch/armchair thing becomes such a symbol for him in this episode. And by the end of it, choosing to not go buy a new couch, but being happiest and accepting of just having an armchair, shows that it’s a one-person seat; that he’s making peace with the fact that he’s going to be by himself for a little bit, and that he needs to be by himself for a little bit. Speaking with Kristen, a big thing for her has always been the fact that Buck chose to end his prior relationship, something that we’ve never seen before. He’s always been the one to be broken up with. So I think the two things kind of feed into each other, that he’s made this decision for himself and now he has to continue down that path and find out, without somebody else’s input, who he is in the world."

He also said this to EW:

"The season 6 premiere ends with Buck deciding not to get a new couch to replace the one Taylor took with her, but rather move his chair in its place. "There's some symbolism in the sense of it is a one-person seating situation," acknowledges Stark, who explains that they filmed that moment a few different ways: "We discussed whether or not he was dragging that chair over, or if it was going to be picked up and put down, and the differences that implied. In the end, they went with the picking up because it's a much stronger, 'This is my life now.' And then same thing once I sat down, we played it where it's just like, 'doom and gloom is ahead of me' or a little smile creeping across his face and 'I'm ready to do this.' And I'm glad that's the option they went with. I think it's much more hopeful and that he is he's ready to take on this challenge of becoming his own man."

I think he said something similar after 6x1 in another interview, but I can't find it.

Anyway, ending with him on a new couch that he bought for himself...being happy...that is quite literally, according to these interviews, essentially a repeat of where he was after 6x1, isn't it??? The same type of scene and the same message, that he's a-okay being on his own. WHAT.WAS.THE.POINT? If they had shown Natalia on the couch (from his mom) or made a bigger deal of her...okay, maybe, but they didn't!!!

Sorry, I'm not screaming at you 🤣 and I know you share my frustrations. It just makes me wonder if there was some type of rewrite of Buck's story?? Or is OS just...saying random things? Because it just doesn't make sense! I'm not even talking about the Buddie of it all - though I think it would be great if it's about them - but more that I do NOT understand what they are doing with Buck's character. Go around in circles with no real growth or purpose. It has made him very frustrating to watch at times. BLAH!

Hello anon, first of all, thank you for sharing this with me.

I do also sometimes need to vent about this show, so I'm glad you could do it with me.

So, going straight to the point. By Oliver's interviews, what I see is that there is a biggest indication the whole point of the couch theory was Buck realizing he is okay in not being on a relationship (since the couch is supposed to be a metaphor to his romantic life).

The couch theory, by my interpretation, was always about how Buck has to come in terms in feeling enough by himself.

If I'm not wrong, this metaphor had it's introduction when Buck was talking with the Diaz boys about the whole Interim Captain road. Sure, Chris was the one to first point out Buck didn't have a couch, but this was straight up after Buck says he struggled to understand what the other candidates for the Interim Captain position had that he didn't. The scene follows as Buck is the one to make the lack of couch about his romantic life when mentioning his girlfriends and how he didn't want to chose the wrong one, however Eddie does link this behavior as something relevant on why Bobby wouldn't consider him in the position for Interim Captain. The scene ended there, and then the lack of couch is brought again on a conversation with Bobby and it's when the whole journey to "be a ease" starts.

My point is the one who made this into a metaphor for his romantic life was Buck, but it's roots seems to be deeper. The roots were on how he was feeling he wasn't worthy, he wasn't enough, on how he was trying to prove something to someone.

I don't think It was ever about chose the right person Eddie to be on a relationship, but him realizing he is worthy, that he enough, that it's okay to be alone for a bit, that he doesn't need someone else to be complete.

And this notion makes sense with how his character did walk in this season. The first consequent arc after this was the sperm donation, where Buck is trying to make something meaningful to someone. The second is his realization in his coma, where he doesn't need to be seen by his parents (because he already has a family). There is where we see the couch bought by his mom, one that he accpeted, but he isn't quite sure comfortable with it, which is the perfect definition of how his relationships with his parents are now. He accepted, but it's not like it solved the problem.

Then the third point comes with him trying to pursue a relationship with Natalia as he does feel "she sees him", then we have the cemetery talk. Buck says he is different, that he is changed I kinda don't see it, which is an issue I have with the writing, but that is not the point here and he is trying to act and be the same old Buck for the sake of everyone else, meanwhile Eddie says "he doesn't have to be anyone, to anybody". This does ties with Buck's needs of trying to be worthy, this does ties with Buck trying "to be seen".

My issue with this season has been mostly about Buck tbh, because in certain ways I can see where this is going, but I don't think it needed him walking in circles for it.I think by the beginning of the season I said something around "I hope it's not the same cycle of people putting their expectations on the Buddie of it all, to not be about Buddie at all and then there is an entire hate train on the show because these expectations weren't met"

My original post was mostly about how the discussions I'm seeing made this theory way too convoluted for the quality of the writing we're receiving in this season. Like how can I expect such a brilliant work with a metaphor leading to Buddie if the writing for both of them this season is underwhelming? Buck? Overexposed and walking in circles. Eddie? Underexposed and barely existed in the season. By the way they were written this season I don't believe that it would honor a pay off leading to Buddie.

The couch theory surely does fit with the Buddie of it all, however I am not putting my expectations on it being about the ship, but being about Buck, and only Buck, to be him finally realizing he is worthy and enough by his own, making the way he walked in circles this season means something at least.

Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge: “Pilot” | February 16, 2010 (online) | Pilot Debuted on DVD on October 27, 2009 Aired on television March 29, 2010 @ 12:15AM

I’m not sure I’ve watched this since it aired on TV in 2010. There’s a reason for that.

Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge originally debuted on DVD as part of the Adult Swim Pilots DVD, which was originally part of the Adult Swim in a Box DVD set. It had it’s non-home-video debut online as part of the Burger King Big, Über, Network Sampling event, where people were invited to log on and vote between two shows that were ostensibly competing with one another for a shot at airing on television and then, MAYBE, becoming a series. The first match-up happened on February 16, and was between this and Snake ‘n Bacon, which previously aired on TV and was covered already.

Cheyenne Cinnamon is a vapid pop-star in a similar vein as, uh (tries to look up who was a current female pop star around in 2009), Britney Spears (sorry, it was too hard), projecting a wholesome image while having an unsavory dark side that involves drugs and promiscuity.

Cheyenne lives in her Sugar Town Candy Fudge which presumably exists as a sorta girl-version of Neverland Ranch. The difference between boy Neverland Ranch is that it exists to aid and abet the molestation of little boys. Girl Neverland Ranch exists presumably for similar reasons, except she is in a permanent state of arrested development due to her own sexual abuse. But that’s not really what this is about. It’s more about how whoreish pop stars are HYPOCRITES.

Emily is a young fan of Cinnamon’s, voiced by Kristen Schall. She’s an awkward girl who was impregnated by her softball coach. She lives in Detroit, which is depicted as a dystopian hellscape, basically Robocop stuff. Cheyenne Cinnamon’s magical land is just outside of Detroit, and Emily seeks her out for guidance. Cheyenne Cinnamon is of no help, and winds up doing more harm than good. There’s songs, which are okay. Cheyenne Cinnamon is voiced by Neko Case from FREAKING HIPSTER MUSIC, but her singing voice is actually Sofia Toufa, likely a contractual thing. They do make jokes about Cheyenne clearly lip-syncing; at one point she loses interest in her song and wanders away, lighting a cig.

The animation was CGI, and it looked roughly a little better than Lucy: Daughter of the Devil. But not as good as Xavier: Renegade Angel. Does that make any sense? Probably not. And yet it’s completely true.

This was created by Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro. There’s a lotta familiar voices in this thing, including one Chris Ward, aka MC Chris. I read, and vaguely remembered, that he was the one who rallied his fanbase to vote for this during the Burger King event. It subsequently won, subsequently aired, and subsequently sucked. I hated this!

The BKBUNS (hey, it was an acronym this whole time! Who knew?) was, as previously mentioned, an event where viewers were urged to vote on various pilots that went head-to-head in various match-ups. Then the winners from those match-ups went against each other until there was a clear victor. Spoiler alert, Cheyenne Cinnamon won.

I don’t fully recall how it worked, but I do remember it seemed a little bit like a mess. One pilot had multiple versions presented, and one show wound up having TWO pilot episodes, the second of which dropped after voting already started. I think. I don’t actually know that, honestly. I remember feeling discouraged from voting because it seemed like the stuff you were voting on kept morphing into different versions of itself, like if a presidential candidate suddenly sprouted a second head on election day.

Starting with this year, I’m making a push towards legitimizing online content in certain cases. Originally the idea was to just cover what aired on TV, but the line between online and TV had already begun blurring. Most shows primarily have their TV airdates available, but I’m not going to go out of my way to determine if they debuted online a few days before. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but there was a time when they actually debuted new episodes online first, then they’d air on TV a few days later. Pinning down all those dates seems like a nightmare, though. But stuff like this just makes more sense.

The matchups will be mentioned as I cover each pilot. My original research for this told me that a UK version of this existed that used “Gumball” (The Amazing World of, I assume?) as one of the pilots? But that piece of information seems to have disappeared. Could it be bogus? I don’t think I care either way!

I am pretty sure that screenshot is from one of the promos. I couldn't find one to check (I didn't really try, honestly), but I think they literally were mostly text, and that bit of Robot-Chicken-style animation was like, 2 seconds long and just was of that guy smiling. A terrific gift. I hope I dream about this man tonight. Goodnight!

Chapter 1

Ashley's POV

Jam Republic finally arrives to set, and the excitement rate is through the roof. "Guys, we are like actually here. This is so freaking cool," Aubrey says excitedly with the biggest smile on her face. "Yea, we are here, so let's not keep the keep our devoted subjects waiting," Ashley says while walking inside the building with the group heading towards their crew room.

"You do realize they are recording right, Ash," Kirsten states while laughing but being kinda serious. "Of course, I know that my number leader, but let's be honest, how many of them have you think talked absolute cash shit about us during their little interviews?" Kristen just smiles, shaking her head. "It's all about the fake drama. Ash, there is and shall be no real fighting, got that girlie." She says with a motherly tone while looking at her entire entire crew, but making sure to make eye contact with the troublemaker herself to get the point across.

"I don't start fights, mother. I finish them, I tell you this all the time and there will be no need to fight because I know no one here is about that life. So you don't have to worry your pretty little head over it." Ashley said while staring at Emma, caught off guard by the face she was suddenly making, and laughed out loud. Ling and Kristen just shake their heads, knowing if provoked Ashley will end up hurting some poor girl.

As the girls separated to start little side conversations of their own, Latrice looks around the room and says "When do you think they will call us down, we have to be like the last ones to arrive it seems", the girls are turned and nodded. Then suddenly, the TV turned on, alerting them it was time to go down to the fight zone. The girls got up and made their way down.

" Omg, this is amazing, Kirsten says in astonishment while walking down first. "It's giving fancy, like boutique white people shit, oo shit yall think they caught that." Ashley covers her mouth, walking down the stairs laughing. Everyone turns to see the final crew, some still slightly bewildered that they are foreigners, while others are just staring in amazement at Audrey and Ashley. Ashley turns to the side while finally making it down the last step and overhears the conversation of Bebe." Oo, Audrey, they think we are pretty," she says while smiling at the girl she shares a birthday with.

Then the chatter comes to a slight stop when the evaluation video starts and and hearing the negatively Ashley turns and smirks at her leader. "I told you they would be talking shit, but no one ever listens to Ash." Kristen just stands there with the rest of the crew smiling and listening to the comments, " Doesn't matter what they say, Ash. We are better than that and won't feed into negatively. " Ash turns around and eyes the other crew, then proceeds to laugh out loud, startling everyone in the room. "Yea, I'm gonna show yall, what's weak."

Jam Republic sits down in their spot while waiting for the judges to come out. In the process, she turns to her side and sees Wolf'lo. She leans more to the side and taps on Haechi shoulder. The girl turns around and stares at the black girl a little confused. "I've seen videos of you guys in battles, and you're like cool as shit." Ashley says to gir, though at this point the entire crew had turned around when they realized she spoke korean." Really, thank you Ashley, your really good too. I watch your battles all the time it's always fun to see something new that you come up with each time you step out. Haechi says with a smile on her face. Your korean is really good, I thought Jam Republic didn't speak any", Halo says while looking at Ashley.

"O no, Jam Republic doesn't speak a word of korean, but considering my father is in the army and was deployed to korean and my mom liked it so much, we stayed. The amazing Ashley Martinez does speak the language." She says while smiling quite proud of her language skills. Before the conversation could continue, though, the host Daniel starts announcing the judges. "I'll hit yall up later," Ashley says while Ling is grabbing her thigh to make her pay attention. She spaces out for a while until her eyes catch sight of the first judge.

Monika steps out doing her iconic run move. Though Ashley can't seem to hear anything, anyone in the room is saying. All she can focus on is Monika." Who the hell is that beautiful woman?", Halo overhearing the younger girl looks up and smiles while says "She is a famous dancer in Korea, she was on the show last season with her crew, you've been in Korea, how come you don't know here?" Ashley watches the woman sit down in her chair and look around the room until their eyes catch each other.

"I have no idea, but I'm gonna find out." Ling looks at the younger girl and says I pretty sure she is older, then you Ash like way older and most likely straight." She says while trying to get the younger dancers' minds away from the older women. Ashley looks at her and smiles, "No, one is 100% straight first of all. Second, no one is out of my league. If I want her, I'm going to get her. And lastly, the older the better, besides, I like my women older anyways, makes the challenge more exciting.

The Best New Book Releases Out of 2024:

In today's world where everyone is having different screenings and digital distractions, I feel like there is something great and truly magical about diving into a good book. Books have the power to transport us with the well of knowledge, introduce us to fascinating characters, and make us think about different imaginations that nothing else can do not even this digital media. I love reading books and exploring new characters based on interesting stories. Let me join you on a journey to the enchanting world of books, where we can learn and explore adventure, knowledge, and inspiration awaiting on every page.

When it comes to new releases, I’ve been loving the Black horror girlie surge that’s been part of the Horror Renaissance, the latest of which is Dead Girls Walking by Sami Ellis. It’s a YA slasher that follows a girl looking for her mother’s body at the summer camp that — get this — her serial killer father once owned. Supreme horror mess of the highest order.

Another new horror title, albeit an adult one, is Diavola by Jennifer Marie Thorne. Diavola also has some family drama going on, this time set against a haunted Italian villa during a vacation. Finally, there’s the conclusion to troubled, half-Native teen Jade Daniels’s Indian Lake saga in The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones.

Stepping outside of horror, Like Happiness by Ursula Villarreal-Moura sees protagonist Tatum Vega getting her newfound peace upended when news breaks that a famous author — someone she dated years ago — has been accused of assault. And, from the author of The Enchanted — which I inhaled when it was first published years ago — comes Sleeping Giants, a tale of foster kids, abuse, and real-life monsters. Lastly, Worry by Alexandra Tanner, is a debut described as “a Seinfeldian novel of existentialism and sisterhood.”

In the featured books below, there’s an entry into a popular cozy mystery series, queer love across timelines, a reimagining of Icarus, and more.

The Good, the Bad, and the Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

isSutanto stays with her foot on our necks with these new releases, phew. After last year’s über popular Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, she’s back with another cozy mystery, this time a continuation of her bestselling Aunties series. Here, Meddy Chan travels to Jakarta to spend the Chinese New Year with family. But then, a former fling of one of Meddy’s Aunties — affectionately known as Second Aunt — shows up trying to stunt with bougie gifts. Well, one of the gifts was actually meant for a business rival, and it being accidentally given to Meddy’s family sets her and her Aunties up to become mixed up in a decades-long feud between Jakarta’s business organizations. She spends the rest of her life trying to figure out her own future murderer. Then, one day, Annie is called to her great-aunt Frances’ huge country estate. She’s been murdered, and it’s up to Annie to figure out who did it. Good thing the dearly departed Frances kept detailed notes on potential suspects…

Icarus by K. Ancrum

In this queer Icarus retelling, the titular character is an art thief, but one with a victim who kind of has it coming. Icarus only steals from the wealthy Mr. Black by replacing his priceless art with his father’s flawless forgeries as part of revenge for Icarus’ mother’s death. A strict set of rules keeps Icarus from being exposed, until he gets caught by Mr. Black’s son, Helios, one night.
