Jango had been spending his day trying to focus on his work, but was constantly being distracted by Leigh. Or, rather, by her ass, as she kept bumping into him.
"You know," Jango started, "if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were doing this intentionally."
"Whaaaaaat~?" Leigh giggled, "why would you think that?"
"Cause this is the 7th time you've hip checked me."
"8th, actually, and you're just imagining that. I'm diligently doing my own work and you just happen to be in my way." Leigh assured as she adjusted her glasses.
Then, minutes later, Jango felt Leigh bump into him again. Which is what lead to Jango taking Leigh across her lap.
"Ready to apologize?" Jango smirked.
"Why? Getting tired already? I didn't know you were so limp-wristed."
"...I know you're playing me." Jango chuckled, "but you know what? I'll play this game, Leigh!"
"Bring it~"

Probably gonna finish Bloodmarked either tonight or tomorrow. I was actually planning to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane as my second book this year, but it hadn't downloaded to my Kobo for some reason and I was an hour into a 3-hour flight, soooo I went with Bloodmarked. But I really enjoyed The Alloy of Law, so now I'm like... should I just read the next book in the series now? I'm tempted. But then I also discovered Six of Crows in my suitcase and I know that's supposed to be really good... decisions, decisions...
If you don't have any opinion then just pick one at random to help a girl out 😅

For a while now I've been working on these painted skull charms. Some are Leigh Bowery, there's a Divine, a Jordan (Pamela Rooke), my darling Pickle Surprise (Sister Dimension), one's inspired by the Venture Bros' Molotov Cocktease (with a color palette switch), and the others are fig newtons of my imagination.

Do you have any pets? If yes, can we see pictures? If no, what kind of pet do you want, if any, and what would you name them?
Also, what are your top 5: Books by other people, songs, movies, and tv shows?
Also, what's the most important or best piece of feedback you've ever gotten on your writing? The one that's stuck with you the most. (From tumblr, an ARC review, a publisher, a friend, your partner, anything!)
(I know that's a lot. Feel free to skip some of that if you don't wanna answer it all.)
Congrats on publishing dgdss!!! I'm thrilled to have followed you for as long as I have (a year-ish??), and I can't wait to continue to follow your publishing adventures! (also, thanks for the commission of my boy Rook, ages ago! <3)
~ Morri (@memento-morri-writes)

as for advice i've gotten, i think the most impactful advice i've ever gotten actually came from my agent. after the edits for DGDSS i'd really let that feedback impact my writing in a way that was not helpful. in initial edits for dead girls, my prose was stripped of anything descriptive and reduced basically to plot beats and stock actions. i still have some screenshots of what happened to my prologue before i realized nobody was advocating for me and that i'd have to do it myself - PM me if you want to see those.
anyway, i edited my second novel (the one we have on sub right now) to match the general direction i'd gotten during edits, handed it in to my agent, and she went heyyyyyy bestie this is bad. and she was actually very correct. and i realized i was going to have to re-configure my voice and find the space felt like mine in prose. and i do believe i've done that now, and i would have just continued on sulking and writing stilted, awkward prose indefinitely if she hadn't given me the little kick in the butt.
anyway, thank you morri! i'm so glad you're here, and i can't wait to tell you all about the next exciting thing (very soon). :)

tysm for the tag @daisymae-12 !!!
about a year ago, I was unemployed for a while and binged like, 50 queer romance books back to back. most of these are from that little period of freedom haha
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston - wow big shocker. the heavy rwrb blog puts it as her fav? we all gasped. No joke, this book inspires me so much, regularly. Its a comfort reread, a regular in my rotation of audiobook backround noise, and inspired several fics and counting.. #1 best boy right here
Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo - my #2 comfort rereads, I'm including Crooked Kingdom bc I ALWAYS pick up book #2 after finishing book #1. Wylan is my special boy and I need his POV chapters. (I also need more fic of him going fucking insane and becoming a tiny, richer, Kaz please and thank you)
Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake - Look im a fantasy/magic/adventure girl, so this was very outside my norm when i bought it but i feel in LOVE. It's so mundane while also being very heartfelt and silly and fun. I absolutely loved it and plan to reread soon. plus........ sapphic sex scenes. what more do you want.
A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske - MAGIC. CURSES. SECRECT SOCIETY. LIBRARIES. PERIOD PEICE. (+magic sex???) SOLD. I need the next two books so bad but i'm broke rn. I will probably get #2 as an audio book from the library if I can soon!
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas - not exaggerating, this book reminded my why I love reading. this is the book that kicked off my great reading binge of 2022. which is kinda weird bc I really don't like high school stories, i'm just too old now for them. BUT, magic. ghosts. queer. SOLD. Loved and reread many times and counting!
The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas - While we're on Aiden Thomas... I need Sunbearer Trials book 2 like, yesterday. I NEED IT AIDEN. Hunger Games meets Percy Jackson in the best possible combination that took my breath away. I flew (lol) through this book in one evening. (not recommended. savvor this shit. its excellent.)
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun - the fact the author managed to make me enjoy the concept of a reality show is balls to the walls bananas. And the mental halth discussion in this stole the whole show.
Spell Bound by FT Lukens - It's really hard for me to pick between FT's books for a fav. I absolutely loved In Deeper Waters and So This Is Ever After, but Spell Bound hit me so hard. Of course, there's magic. (have you found my theme yet?) but specifically the discussion around lonliness, and Rook's relationship with "his adult" is so sweet and just really hit me somewhere soft.
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston - I am seriously on the hunt for sapphic books that hit me the way some of the mlm books above have hit me and ols hits that nail on the head. This book made me realize I actually like time travel stories... if it's done in a very specific way haha. also... sapphic sex scenes. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME. I'M HERE FOR THE P-
ty for allowing me to indulge in my ramblings and love for these books <3 no pressure tags below the cut:

I don't know why I keep doing these harem pieces when they take forever and are a pain in the ass to do. I guess I just enjoy doing this, lol. But here Jango is with his 'canon' harem. For the most part, I've drawn & written Jango with various girls of my own design, but it's these seven who I tend to favor the most for one reason or another.
Here, Jango & his girls are dressed in fantasy RPG classes. Or, at least, the best I can manage on (mostly) the fly.
Tara Lynx - Monk
Leigh Rook - Artificer
Ruth Schonau - Cleric
Bernice Baxter - Bard
Jango Fox - Barbarian
Alicia Blackjack - Paladin
Madison Belle - Rogue
Gwendolyn Young - Druid

Personality: Most likely the most curious person you will ever meet. As she would put it in her own words “Everyone and everything is like a story that just needs someone to listen to it.” Ellis is a cynical optimist through and through. Raving on and on about how the world is a amazing and beautiful place to cursing at the person who made her drop her drink. Tries to keep the peace most of the time but when the time is right, she can and will fight someone. Though when talking to new people, she tends to freeze up and tries to rely on others to talk before starting a conversation. She always tries her best to make her friends and others have the best time they can! Ellis is a rather sentimental person who cherishes things and conversations with others! Ellis is a romantic at heart and is yearning for a romance to rival those in books. Ellis is a very sweet girl who always tries to befriend others and would do anything for them. Though she is not always the best at comforting someone, she always knows just what to say to someone to make them feel special.

Ellis took many classes in singing and dancing when she was young
Ellis’ favorite color is pink!

Interests Intro
I know I’m making a big assumption that anyone cares about what content I’m consuming, but when I hyperfixate on something, oh boy will I never shut up about it. So, to spare my friends and family from my extensive rants, I will be posting here about it. Feel free to not read any of this and get to the juicy stories on other parts of this blog, but to get a comprehensive view of my life as an asexual person, read ahead to see what content catches my interest!
Disclaimer: there will be a lot of discussions of old emo and pop punk bands in this section, and no I will not apologize for it.
That being said, here is a list, current to Nov 2023, of a bunch of stuff that I'm into:
Music - format: Artist {favorite album and/or “song”}
Fall Out Boy {Folie à Deux - “(Coffee’s For Closers)” and American Beauty/American Psycho - “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and Save Rock & Roll - “Miss Missing You”}
Sleep Token {Take Me Back To Eden - “Euclid” and “Chokehold”} Who gave them permission to include the lyric “So if your wings won’t find you heaven I will bring it down like an ancient bygone” in “Euclid” ??? Gives me goosebumps every time I listen
The Vaccines {“I Always Knew”}
Troye Sivan {There pretty much isn’t a song of his I don’t like, so I will just say that my favorite from his new album is “Still Got It” and I will always listen to “10/10” from In A Dream}
Wasia Project {“Remember When”}
I listen to a smattering of Kpop and Jpop bands: Official Hige Dandism, Gen Hoshino, Eve, The Oral Cigarettes, BTS, and Red Velvet
TV/Movies
Hell’s Kitchen (Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I love watching Gordon Ramsey yell at people at the end of a long day)
Heartstopper (because I am basic)
New Girl (a classic)
Red, White, & Royal Blue (also because I am basic)
Young Royals (because sometimes you need to witness a love story that will shake you to your very core)
DreamWorks’ Voltron: Legendary Defenders & She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (they are a set and no I will not be taking criticism on that)
Video Games
Five Nights at Freddy’s (I know way too much about the lore of this series. It's borderline a problem.)
Oxenfree (I haven’t played the second one yet but the first one has a very special place in my heart)
Pokémon (I’m a Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl stan but I understand that is probably an unpopular opinion. I just really love Luxray, okay?)
Books!
Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse: The original Shadow & Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology. The magic system is really unique and I love how Bardugo writes her characters.
Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
The Simon Snow Trilogy by Rainbow Rowell
Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. This book (and the sequel) always destroys me emotionally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Rook by Daniel O’Malley: The only adult science fiction book series I enjoy reading
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao: It’s like Pacific Rim combined with Chinese folk stories. It’s so cool.

Hi Morri! It's your turn now :)
What book or series were you obsessed with as a kid?
What's your number one comfort movie?
What's your favorite book right now?
If you were going to get a cat tomorrow, what would you name it?
What's your favorite d&d class to play?
Aww, thanks for sending these back!!
What book or series were you obsessed with as a kid?
Percy Jackson. I still have all of Rick Riordan's books on one of my bookshelves. (I have 3, and the two huge ones are completely full.) I also have a Camp Halfblood t-shirt that I've had since middle school, that somehow still fits??? Despite me now being 5'10"??
What's your number one comfort movie?
That's a hard question, partly because I don't watch that many movies anymore. But I'd probably have to say The Princess Bride. I'm planning on rewatching it sometime this week since I'm home alone.
What's your favorite book right now?
Another hard question, but I might have to say Six of Crows. I just love that book with my whole heart, and I have loved it for about 6 years now. (I also have all of Leigh Bardugo's books, including Ninth House and Hell Bent, the latter of which I just finished reading last night.) A more recent fave is The Lies of Locke Lamora. Other top faves of mine (aka 5-star books imo) are the Villains series by V.E. Schwab, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.
If you were going to get a cat tomorrow, what would you name it?
I think that Rook would be an adorable name for a black cat, ngl. (Chances are, if I'm getting a cat, it's black. 2/3 of the cats I've had in my life are black, and I love those little voids so fucking much.)
What's your favorite d&d class to play?
ROGUES!!!! I love my little criminal shits, okay? All of my rogues are such disasters, but in the best way possible. I have a thief, assassin, and swashbuckler characters. But I also really enjoyed my fighter that I played at uni, and warlocks have some of the most fun concepts.

Copy and tell me:
A book you want to reread: I've been wanting to reread the Daevabad trilogy by SA Chakraborty for a while but I will probably reread Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo sooner since the sequel just came out.
Any books you reread every two to five years: Most of the Discworld books I own, the Six of Crows Duology, all the Jasper Fforde books I own, The Rook by Daniel O'Malley
Any books you reread once a year: Every year on May 25th I reread Night Watch by Terry Pratchett. I normally end up rereading Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch series once a year as well; I love those books.
The book you reread within the shortest turnaround time: The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson for sure. I finished that book and then flipped right back to the beginning to start it again.
The book you've reread the most times: I used to reread the Harry Potter books every summer so unfortunately probably them. 😞 Hopefully soon that will be pushed out by Night Watch.
Tagging @indominusregina @meridiangrimm @hyrulianpirate @feeisamarshmallow @instantlyprofoundjellyfish @birdbugs if any of you want to do this (no pressure)
