lgj, gritting his teeth. ok. this time. THIS TIME. he can make the little rat realise whats going on. shut up xaoibao- NEPHEW. hes serious. here's what's gonna happen, I'm going to corner him and ask if the love potion he takes makes any ice demon attractive. no i dont give a shit about your stupid rat this isnt wife stealing its STRATIGIC fake flirtation. im gonna point out all the ways hes super obvious about his attraction, and then you are going to come up behind us scoop him and be heroic-
Linguang Jun trying to be a helpful uncle but still being somehow threatening in his own way is so funny because he's here plotting how to get these two idiots together all while Qinghua is screaming anytime he makes contact with EITHER of them like I can see Mobei Jun sulking in the corner of the room while Linguang Jun has a plan of attack ready and Qinghua is gonna see it as some sort of evil plan to kill him
No he's just sick of you two flirting
Do you know how embarrassing it is to see Mobei PUBLICALLY show his affection to this tiny human and it not be reciprocated in front of demons ALMOST EVERY TIME DURING COURT

Moshang Arranged marriage AU but with a twist.
Shang Qinghua is forced to enter arranged marriage with Mobei Jun as a show of goodwill from the human cultivators in face of Luo Binghe raising to power and forcefully uniting the human and demon realms. The catch? Linguang-Jun is the one who ascended to the Northern Kingdom throne and is the current Mobei Jun.
Many years ago, when Qinghua was still an outer disciple, there was another transmigrator, a big fan of the original PIDW. Since there was no Luo Binghe yet, he figured he would take his place and make his name as the greatest human cultivator with hundreds of wives. Airplane noticed too late what was happening and by the time he did, the guy already managed to ruin the plot. Which wouldn't be so bad, Airplane did not much enjoy his fate in the original, but the guy made it so so much worse.
In order to avoid competition, the transmigrator threw Binghe into the Abyss as soon as the little protagonist set foot into the Cang Qiong mountain. Little Binghe managed to escape the Abyss after 10 years and mostly crazed took over the demon realm quickly in order to take revenge on the humans.
In that time, the other transmigrator, using his plot knowledge, rose to power and became the leader of human cultivation world. He knew he fucked up, so he quickly threw Shen Qingqiu to Binghe as the man who wronged him (little Binghe did not remember his offender's face) and basically gave up human realm to serve the new demon emperor and thus uniting the kingoms.
He offered Binghe multiple brides, some his own wives, all in hope of appeasing the crazed protagonist.
Where is Airplane in all that? Well, unlike in the original, Airplane never met his Mobei Jun and as such never became the spy for the demon realm. A change from the plot but he did not complain. At least he would not die after betraying his favourite character, so even if the world is fucked, that's better for him, right?
Well, no. The marriage happens. Shang Qinghua has no choice but to comply, or he will be forced to face the transmigrator and the crazed protagonist's wrath.
The marriage is not happy. On good days Linguang Jun simply ignores his husband. On bad days, he reminds him that he absolutely detests humans and the only reason he agreed to the marriage was Luo Binghe - the Emperor found the situation funny. Also, with one of the Peak Lords in the court, the Demon Emperor had more influence on Cang Qiong Sect.
In the meantime Shang Qinghua tries to find out what happened to the OG Mobei Jun and discovers that Shen Qingqiu who is locked in the Demon Emperor's dungeons, fortunately not turned into a human stick yet, also recently transmigrated.
So what happened to Mobei Jun? Well, the same transmigrator who tried to get rid of Binghe, tried to get rid of Mobei as well. He remembered from the PIDW that Mobei was once held by Huan Hua Palace as prisoner and he tried to kill him then and there. As his last defence, Mobei Jun encased himself in never melting ice tomb and is still in the Water Prison, waiting. He ages and dreams, and, surprise, since all he can do is dream, Meng Mo instead of Binghe latches onto Mobei. From his prison, Mobei Jun become a pretty powerful dream demon himself.
Mobei, in his dreams, wanders to the Northern Kingdom often and finds very unhappy Qinghua by the side of his uncle. Together with Qingqiu, they all plot to overthrow Linguang Jun and get Mobei to his rightful place as well, defeat the other transmigrator and expose him to Binghe, and maybe help Binghe as well since he does not seem happy. Qinghua still considers him his son, and since the story is now real and very much off the rails, he wants his son to have a proper happy ending as well.

Where the Sun Sleeps
Here's my fic for @moshanganthology Go check out the zine it's got so much good stuff in it
<a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/49527919">Ao3</a>
Every day the sun would travel across the sky and every night it would disappear. Mobei-Jun, Crown Prince of the Northern Kingdom, never gave it much thought. Until the month of his coronation when it failed to rise. The black sky is considered an ill omen, and if he is to take his rightful place upon the throne, he must find out why. His only lead comes from Shang Qinghua, a young man who claims he knows where the sun sleeps and promises to lead the prince there. As they set out on their adventure, it becomes clear that there is more to his guide than he first thought. Especially when everything seems just a bit brighter when Shang Qinghua smiles.
Mobei-Jun was destined to be King.
He’d been born to the role, Crown Prince of the North since his first cry. His education had been directed accordingly, instruction in the art of politics, war, and defence of his kingdom from outside nations and traitors alike.
His father taught him how to use his position as a weapon, emphasizing his status and control.
Such lessons continued even after his Father’s death with new teachers; treachery and bitter experience. His uncle, Linguang-Jun, had taken over as regent and in doing so left the prince to pick his battles and bide his time.
The late king’s brother had been lauded for stepping up, but it was clear to the young prince that the man had only done so to tighten his grip on power. Often citing Mobei-Jun’s youth and inexperience to deny him his place on the throne.
But such a poor excuse was not to last past the prince’s twenty-first birthday, the day of his official coronation.
A day that approached quickly.
Mobei-Jun had been patient, and soon that patience would pay off. The planning had gone smoothly and there was an undercurrent of excitement running through the staff as the preparations began in earnest.
It was to be a season-long affair, starting with an influx of visitors to the Capital. Travellers from far and wide would pour into the city: dignitaries, merchants and of course, the common people. All would join the celebrations until the day he was to take his birthright.
The young prince had grown into a stoic man, holding his emotions close so they could not be used against him, but even he could not resist smiling with anticipation, everything was going to work out exactly as it was supposed to.
Until it didn’t.
The first day of celebration began as any other, Mobei-Jun’s first action of the day was to pull back his curtains and greet the sun, but when he did, only the cool starry sky of night met his salutation.
Perhaps he was early, excitement pushing his awakening up by an hour or two, but when he found the castle staff in a panic, it was clear that that had not been the case.
Dark days were not unheard of; poor weather, or smoke from summer fires had blocked out the sun on occasion, but even then it would shine a blood red behind the smoke and clouds.
The starry sky was clear, pinpricks of light twinkling merrily as if the night was never meant to end.
Servants were told to continue their duties, even while uncertainty stained every step. Mobei-Jun went immediately to consult the royal scholars. The astronomers had not predicted any such eclipse, but still they assured the prince the sun should return by the next morn.
The opening ceremony continued as planned, and Mobei-Jun relayed the scholar’s predictions to his people, allowing the festivities to begin as if nothing was amiss.
But when he greeted the second dawn of darkness, Mobei-Jun had a sinking feeling settle in his gut. One that the people seemed to share, more had gathered in the palace courtyard, not for revelry, but for answers.
A tense uneasiness filled the city streets, tallow and pitch could act as remedy for a day, but what of longer?
The travellers flooding the capital switched from cheerful partygoers to fearful refugees, driven to worry without the daylight they had once taken for granted. A single question passed every set of lips.
Where had the sun gone?
There were no good theories and even bringing scholars to face the crowd provided no reassurance. As the second sunless day rolled into a third, Mobei-Jun saw his fragile hope vanish alongside the missing sun.
People had gathered on the palace grounds once again demanding answers.
Mobei-Jun had none.
He stood above the crowd upon the palatial balcony, a place from which the Northern Kings had addressed their subjects for centuries, now it was only a vantage point from which to watch their faith in his leadership crumble. Fear and uncertainty were thrown into flickering relief by the lamps and torches amongst the crowd.
He was to be King, but he was lost, feeling more like a scapegoat than a ruler. This was no foe to be conquered, no traitor to be hung, he was woefully unprepared to placate the turbulent crowd.
Before he could conjure answers, his uncle appeared next to him with a mysterious robed figure.
“Please listen.”
Linguang-Jun was a charismatic speaker in a way Mobei-Jun could never replicate. His voice projected over the crowd, silencing their complaints with camaraderie and a pull to hear his next words.
“The sages have been consulted.” He then stepped to the side, letting the cloaked man face the people.
“It is an ill omen to spend a day with black sky, and we have suffered three. The gods are angry, if we do not placate their wrath it will bring our lands to ruin.” The man looked pointedly at Mobei-Jun.
The prince bristled, clenching his teeth and glaring at his uncle. Linguang-Jun had raised his hands to the crowd in a parody of comfort.
“No one is more disappointed by this omen than myself, but perhaps in a few years the fates will show the crown prince favour once more. I shall continue on as regent until they do.”
His false sincerity had cold fury surging through Mobei-Jun’s veins.
“We cannot ignore the signs nephew, this is the will of the gods,” Of course Linguan Jun was only a religious man when it suited him.
“Unless you can personally bring back the sun, what else can be done?”
Silence had overtaken the crowd and Mobei-Jun could feel everything he’d worked for slipping from his grasp.
“Then I’ll do it.”
Linguang-Jun frowned, but Mobei-Jun mirrored his actions, turning to the crowd.
“I, Mobei-Jun, Crown Prince of the Northern Kingdom, vow to find the sun and return it to the sky.” Adrenaline chose his words, steeling his nerves as he challenged his uncle.
“And I will do so before my coronation, to earn back the god’s favour and remove all doubts to my place as king.”
The words hung over the silent crowd as heavily as his intent, after a moment, his declaration was met with a raucous cheer, and he felt grimly satisfied at the way his uncle frowned.
It was a short lived satisfaction. It took less than an hour to realize the flaw in his plan:
He had no idea where to start.
He couldn’t guess as to why the sun had gone. Had he truly lost the god’s favour?
He’d never been particularly devout, but the prospect of losing the power he’d worked for hadn’t given him the chance to consider the feasibility of his quest.
He’d consulted the scholars, the astronomers, and even the treacherous sages, but none had answers. The sickly sweet smile his uncle had given him when he’d left their consultation let him know that Linguang-Jun had reached the same conclusion.
Mobei-Jun wandered the castle, his thoughts spiralling, grasping for impossible solutions as the darkness of the last few days began to suffocate him.
His rumination was broken by a timid voice.
“M-My King?”
He stilled, turning to find an unfamiliar man at his side.
The unassuming man fidgeted beneath his gaze, it was clear he did not belong in the palace—neither a servant nor guard, but too plainly dressed to be a visiting ambassador or dignitary.
Mobei-Jun towered above most people, but the man seemed even shorter the way he was cowering. Most visitors were at least polite enough to gawk at royalty from a distance.
“What are you doing here?” The man tensed, his shoulders rising as a guilty look crossed his face. He dropped to his knees prostrating.
“Apologies, my King, apologies. This serva—”
“Prince.”
“What?” The man blinked at him owlishly, the expression made him look foolish.
“I am no king yet, it is improper to address me as such.” He didn’t need to give his uncle more reason to condemn him.
“Oh.” Dark eyes widened in understanding and the man stilled just long enough for Mobei-Jun to inspect him. His robes were plain, but the style was complex, a design unfamiliar to the prince. The colour was a muddy yellow, reflecting the torchlight in a way that still managed to make the dark hall seem brighter.
“What are you doing here?” The man flinched under inspection, only remembering himself after a moment.
“Right! I’m here about the sun!” He scrambled for words, “I-I know where it—where you can find it!”
That grabbed Mobei-Jun’s attention, he’d gotten nowhere with scholars and sages.
“Tell me.”
“Well—I—uh,”
Mobei-Jun watched him intently, but his patience wearing razor thin.
“Out with it.”
“There—THERE’S A CAVE! Yes, that’s it, a cave. Several weeks travel from here. It’s where the sun sleeps at night.”
“The sun…sleeps?” Mobei-Jun raised an eyebrow, he’d never considered what happened to the sun at night, he simply assumed it travelled somewhere beyond the horizon, beyond his kingdom, beyond his concern.
Except now it very much was his concern.
“Yes! Everything needs to sleep right? Even you my Kin—Prince! Even you, my prince!” It seemed like such a simple answer, Mobei-Jun was not sure the man could be trusted.
“You’ve seen it?”
The man nodded rapidly.
“It descends to the earth every night to sleep among the mountains.”
He eyed the cowering man trying to gauge a motive. His conviction was commendable; more powerful men had fled under the scrutiny of the Crown Prince. In the end that conviction, and his lack of options, convinced Mobei-Jun.
“What is your name?”
“Shang Qinghua, my Ki—er my Prince.”
“Then Shang Qinghua, you will take me to this cave.”
Shang Qinghua’s head whipped up to meet the prince’s eyes, they seemed brighter than before, torchlight reflecting gold only for a moment. Then Shang Qinghua’s forehead was pressed to the ground once more.
“Of course, my King.”

And last my ongoing longfic that's coming up on its one year anniversary, A Willing Sacrifice, Jiang Cheng/Wen Ruohan, E.
The first line:
Jiang Cheng strode into the office straight-backed, chin lifted, hoping to project confidence he did not feel.
The first line of the latest chapter:
Wen Ruohan lavished Jiang Cheng with attention for the rest of the evening.
If you want to do it too, consider yourself tagged! :)

For whatever reason, my brain fed me a “Shen Yuan transmigrates in as Linguang-Jun” AU. Probably just as a one-shot thing to explore a SY & MBJ relationship. This happens when MBJ is an older child or a young teen, I think, so LGJ has done some shit, but the shitty relationship isn’t totally set in stone yet. SY panics, of course, because he has no idea how to be a demon.
SY eventually settles on trying to make good with MBJ (within the limits of the OOC locks at first) so that Mobei-Jun doesn’t grow up to kill him. Young MBJ’s first reaction is that this is a trick of some kind, albeit an extremely confusing one. Young MBJ eventually witnesses something (SY utterly failing to use his demon powers while he’s still trying to figure them out) and it clicks for MBJ that his uncle has been possessed or replaced.
MBJ eventually decides that his uncle has been permanently possessed by a dream demon or the like. Should he tell someone about this? Maybe! But he kind of likes this version of his shitty uncle better. This version of LGJ isn’t trying to kill him and, like, serves that bastard right getting his body stolen by an apparently incompetent dream demon.
SY fakes it until he (kind of) makes it as a demon. LGJ has been scary enough over the years and has MBJ’s father’s protection, so SY doesn’t have to jockey for power too much. SY is also kind of good at playing elegant, handsome villains when he’s called upon to do so (SY could consider what this says about him as a person, but he’s not going to). SY is mostly left alone to study horrible monsters to his heart’s content.
And also hang out with young Mobei-Jun. MBJ takes advantage of SY to, idk, get his hands on some family weapon locked up in a vault where kiddos can’t get it, like a child tricking their uncle into giving them car keys at twelve. Uncle-nephew trips consist of MBJ using this new LGJ!SY who wants to win his favor as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Shen Yuan: “MY darling nephew? Steal YOUR demon horse? Unlikely! How dare you make such an accusation!”
Mobei-Jun: *absolutely did do that for kicks and is very curious to see how far he can take this before someone calls him on it*
Eventually, a teenage or young adult MBJ meets Shang Qinghua. He doesn’t tell SQH about the dream demon possessing his uncle, nor does he tell the dream demon possessing his uncle about SQH. At least, not until he overhears SQH use a word that MBJ has overheard SY use before, something like, “WTF.” And then MBJ is like, “What does that word mean?”
Shang Qinghua: “My king-?! Oh, uh, nothing! Nothing, really!”
Mobei-Jun: “I have heard this word before. I know it means something. What does this word mean?”
Shang Qinghua: “...You’ve...? Wait, what?!”
And then MBJ gets badgered into letting SQH meet the new Linguang-Jun. SQH does not play this subtle enough for MBJ not to have questions, so MBJ exits the room and then blatantly eavesdrops on the conversation because SQH and LGJ generally seem to forget about the extent of demon hearing.
Shang Qinghua: “Proud Immortal Demon Way?”
Linguang-Jun!SY: “...Another transmigrator?!!!”
And Mobei-Jun is like, “Oh, Shang Qinghua is also a dream demon. This makes sense given the many strange things about him. I am very clever.”
Just because, I really like the idea of MBJ actually being able to perceive transmigrators to some degree? Given his family’s bullshit about consuming and stealing power, he’s always on the lookout for possession (but he’s unfamiliar with humans, so it’s harder there). So, like, there’s Mobei-Jun and his two “dream demons” who are quite bad at pretending to be the powerful demon and the ordinary human they’re possessing. He’s cool with this.
SY gets MBJ to treat SQH decently. Kind of accidentally, but still.
Anyway, I’m going to assume that #1 LBH fanboy Shen Yuan finds an excuse to go “check” on the poor young protagonist at some point. He badgers Shang Qinghua about how the kid is doing and SQH is like, “Oh, yeah, that kid is definitely being abused.” Shen Yuan talks himself into becoming a secret demonic patron and mentor, just to make sure that the protagonist doesn’t end up growing up to kill him, you know.
LBH ends up taking a lot of away missions from the peak to stay away from SQQ, who is basically like, “Yes, fuck off. If you die, that’s fine.” And LBH keeps running into his “secret demonic patron and mentor”. And maybe being saved by SY several times. SY kind of digs the idea of being able to offer wise advice to the protagonist. That’s not a bad position, right?
LBH falling in love with this mysterious and weirdly kind demon lord? It’s exactly as likely as you think. Age difference? No issue in LBH’s mind!
(SY probably accidentally runs into Liu Qingge too, and saves and kind of seduces the man, of course. Liu Qingge makes it his mission to track this demon down because he is VERY ANGRY about this.)
If SY can make SQQ into LBH’s type, then he can absolutely make LGJ into LBH’s type. When Shang Qinghua cottons on to this, he’s just like, “A handsome ice demon with villainous character design? My, uh, protagonist and I have very similar taste in men, I guess. Holy shit.”
Mobei-Jun and Post-Abyss Luo Binghe face-off for Luo Binghe’s rights to court the totally oblivious “dream demon” possessing Mobei-Jun’s uncle. Because I like the idea of Mobei-Jun repeatedly giving the protagonist “impossible tasks” just to fuck with him and then being mildly surprised when LBH keeps succeeding, while LBH can’t bully MBJ because MBJ is SY’s “darling nephew” and LBH doesn’t want to upset SY. (Very smug MBJ face here.)
Eventually Mobei-Jun is like, “Go conquer the Demon Realm, I guess?” So LBH spends the next 5 years or so doing that, sending SY many, many gifts and letters. While Mobei-Jun is like, “It won’t actually help him. Dream demons are very stupid and must be told directly of any romantic feelings.”
Shang Qinghua: “Haha, I guess. Wait- dream demon?!”
Mobei-Jun: “Oh, I forgot to tell you I knew.”
Mobei-Jun’s face turns extremely judgmental.
Mobei-Jun: “You really didn’t know that I know what you are?”
Shang Qinghua: “...No...?!”

moshang drabble i did on twitter!
tags: royalty au, childhood friends to lovers, “don’t touch him. he’s mine.”
Mobei Jun was forced to attend the banquet. He didn’t want to but his father said it would be disrespectful to not show up for the crown prince’s birthday. So here is now tucked in a secluded balcony waiting for the night to end.
“This sucks,” a voice beside him says and Mobei Jun whips his head to come face to face with the crown prince himself. “So much for a party for me. Pbbbt.”
Was he not just seated at the seat of honor? How did he—how was he able to get past the king and queen and all the guards?
“Oh, hey! I know you!” The crown prince perks up seeing as he’s sharing the balcony with someone else. “You’re from the Mobei clan right? Ahaha! Silly question! You clearly are with the insignia on your forehead. It’s very pretty by the way! Very cool!”
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
With the way he looked sitting stone-faced at the throne earlier, Mobei Jun didn’t think the crowned prince could be this friendly.
“Hey.” Mobei Jun feels him nudge his shoulders. “Wanna ditch this boring party? I know a place we can hide. We can get cakes from the kitchens on the way! I promise we’ll go back before anyone finds out. Don’t wanna get us in trouble you know?”
He looks at the crown prince in wonder.
And, ah, it’s strange. Mobei Jun finds that he is helpless against that mischievous smile. And it’s not even because he’s the prince
The place turns out to be a secret garden in the innermost crevices of the palace. They eat their cake and talk. The prince is quite the chatterer.
Later, when they sneak back to the party with their guardians unaware that they have been gone, Mobei Jun thanks the crown prince properly with a low bow just like he is taught how to when in the presence of the crown.
“Ai! None of that ‘Your Highness’ stuff! Call me Qinghua! That’s my name. We’re friends after all!” He paused, looking unsure of himself. “I mean, if you want to that is. It’s okay if you don’t! I understand it can be weird. Mama—I mean, Her Majesty says I should not expect everyone to easily be comfortable around us. Whatever that means.”
Mobei Jun takes time to answer. Shang Qinghua takes this to mean he does not want to be friends.
“Oh, okay. I understand—”
“No. I mean,” Mobei Jun tries to explain and make a note to himself that the prince is not only a chatterbox but is prone to jump to conclusions. “I do want to be friends with His High—” Shang Qinghua frowns and Mobei Jun hastily corrects himself, “with Qinghua.”
Shang Qinghua smiles at him, radiant and wide and warm, and Mobei Jun, aged twelve, gets the feeling he’s a goner.
“Don’t touch him. He’s mine.”
Mobei Jun whips around to find Shang Qinghua at the end of the hallway. His eyes trained on Mobei Jun’s uncle and the almost bruising grip he has on Mobei Jun. There is an air of silent cold fury about him as he sees Mobei Jun backed to a corner.
“Your Highness,” Linguang Jun greets cooly, unhanding Mobei Jun and slowly dropping in a bow. A mockery instead of respect. “I was just telling my nephew here how—”
“I don’t care for your excuses, Linguang Jun. I’ve seen enough,” Shang Qinghua said, low and angry. For someone who Mobei Jun knows to be a soft-hearted and often whiny fumbling disposition, Shang Qinghua currently radiates the piercing aura of a crown prince he really is. “Don’t let me see you here or ever near Mobei Jun ever again or you’ll find yourself thrown out of this court. For good.”
“But of course, Your Highness. My apologies for—”
“Scram!”
Linguang Jun doesn’t bother trying to dissuade Shang Qinghua’s anger. He just smiles and bows out, sending Mobei Jun one last cold glare out of the corner of his eyes.
When his uncle is fully out of the picture, gone is the cold fury radiating off of him just mere moments before. Shang Qinghua reverts back to his usual endearingly fumbling self, at least around Mobei Jun.
“I’m sorry!” He immediately says. His ears have gone red and Mobei Jun watches the color travel to his face and down to his neck. How cute. “I-I didn’t mean to treat you like—I didn’t mean to make you sound like…like property! You’re not! Of course, you’re not! You’re your own person! I was just—in the heat of the moment, I—I didn’t mean to! I’m so so—”
“No, you’re right. I am yours,” Mobei Jun says, deciding to take pity on him. He holds up a hand when Shang Qinghua opens his mouth to protest once more. Ah, his Qinghua has always been such a silly man quick to jump to conclusions. “Not because my family is a vassal of the crown but because it’s the truth. I simply have been yours since the moment you took my hand on that banquet of your thirteenth birthday.”
“W-what?”
“I’m saying, Your Highness,” Mobei Jun chuckles as Shang Qinghua frowns and rolls his eyes at the teasing. He always did hate it whenever Mobei Jun calls him by his title. “That after all these years, I think you should finally take a hint,” he crowds on Shang Qinghua, loving for the lithe crown prince doesn’t shirk away from him but arches against him instead, pushing their bodies together, “and just officially make me yours.”
“How presumptuous of you, Mobei Jun,” Shang Qinghua teases back but still ending up winding his arms over Mobei Jun’s neck. “I could have you tried for your impertinence—and for taking such liberties with your prince. Just where do you think your hand is resting, hmm?”
Mobei Jun chuckles, not removing his hand on Shang Qinghua's ass
“But you wouldn’t.”
“I wouldn’t.”
And Shang Qinghua leans up to finally, finally, kiss Mobei Jun.

“Then say, if your heart were to start freezing over, would he have a sudden impulse and come out?”
Linguang Jun being the uncle of the year during the Northern Desert Ascension Trial and Shang Qinghua having a bout of heroism? Good shit. Mobei Jun leaping through fire despite being poisoned? Even better shit. I can’t wait for this scene to be in the actual published version

Other than including characters, rating, content warnings and tags, and the 50 word minimum, is there a specific way writers should format their pitches? And would the mods choose which pitch the authors will end up writing from the 3 they submit if they're accepted, or is that left up to authors to choose in the end? Hope you have a good week!
Tumblr media
We hope you have a lovely week too, Anon!
As long as the information listed in the form is included in the pitch, we are happy to leave the specifics to your liking. The format listed below is merely an example, however you are free to adapt this as you see fit:
⫸ Main cast/characters: Mobei-Jun/Shang Qinghua, Linguang-Jun, background Mobei Family
⫸ Content ratings: Gen
⫸ Content tags and/or warnings: Tooth-rotting fluff, Modern AU,, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort, Healing, MoShang: The Wedding
⫸ Pitch: After years of miscommunication, misunderstandings and more than a little pining, MoShang have finally decided to tie the knot. Everything seemed perfect, or so it seemed - until Shang Qinghua decided to hand deliver the Mobei family’s invites in a bid to surprise his beloved. To be honest he had expected the worst, given how his usually silent lover would all but clam up about them.
He never expected this - a mishmash of aunts, uncles and cousins who deeply adored Mobei-Jun but couldn’t actually even talk to him! A family full of tsun-tsun Ice Queens! Aiya, Shang Qinghua had his work cut out for him. That being said - he’d never met a challenge he couldn’t beat!
Regarding the selection of pitches - although it is left open to the creators to pick their preference, Mods will advise said creators in instances where there overlaps in pitches, to allow for a variety in the zine pieces.

imagine if linguang jun was like, 15% more uncle still. :) are you winning nephew? hmm your weird little crush isnt very good at picking up demon hints huh. check this out; hello you little squishy rat ^.^ it sure is a shame that you're clearly wearing a trinket of my nephews favour or else I could beat the shit out of you for existing rn. hm oh yes that hairpin IS making it very politically difficult for anyone to rip your limbs off. haha yes if you were wearing robes of his colours then it would be near impossible. (ur fuckin welcome nephew. gods i have to do EVERYTHING around here. your seduction skills are in the negatives and yet he still seems to reciprocate as best a human can.) sqh the next day decked out in 90% mbj gifts like ahah it's not too much to be wearing all this, right? mbj heart eyes mf. its the bare minimum actually qinghua. you should wear more.
Linguang Jun trying to be supportive in his own way and get the tiny pathetic human and his nephew together is so funny because he's LITERALLY threatening Shang Qinghua, but it's STRATEGIC AND NECESSARY SO THAT HE CAN UNDERSTAND
The funniest part tho that I can see happening is Qinghua still misinterpreting it, like he can't understand Mobei's demon courting but even if he wears his colors he still doesn't think that's reciprocating he's just wearing them as defense
Linguang Jun is screaming he's trying SO HARD

Notes about the Moshang Hobbit AU illustration:
- This was a good excuse to rewatch the old fantasy film Willow (1988). Willow is very much Dated Fantasy in many aspects, you can clearly see the influence from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and so on, but one of the cool things it does is that the Nelwyns (equivalent of hobbits or halflings) are played by people with dwarfism. The titular character, Willow, is played by Warwick Davis. So, I used that as inspiration for this.
- I steered away from the Weta Workshop film designs because I knew that if I took their hobbit & dwarf designs, then kept the popular Scum Villain color schemes, Moshang would end up looking way too much like Bagginshield. Now, I love Bagginshield and I won’t deny that the pairings have some similarities, but they’re very different to Moshang (Moshang is way messier, for one). Scum Villain and Moshang deserve their own look.
- Putting Mobei-Jun in anything resembling actual armor and giving him a sword was a weird experience, as was giving him short hair, but I think it’s a neat way to show that he has none of the easy confidence of his original look. In the original AU (in which MBJ is not a dwarf), he still has his own powers, but he has no kingdom, no father*, and the beast they’re about to face devoured his ancestors’ powers. This is a very deadly mission.
- * He still has his shitty uncle, though. Because Linguang-Jun and Mobei-Jun having to go on a quest together is an entertaining thought.
- Shang Qinghua doesn’t have a visible weapon here, but he’s got at least one on him somewhere. Also, he has many, many pockets inside that cloak and that coat and his robes. Beware a man with that many pockets.
