So...I haven't looked in the tag yet, but am I going to be the outlier who thought that episode 4 was the most interesting one so far and not at all angsty? As long as we get Tom as another Loki appearing in future episodes, I am actually fine with this one being killed because he didn't seem to have a future anywhere and it was super quick and didn't seem to involve any suffering. And I stg the first thing I thought when Sylvie dropped her opponent in the fight was 'are you sure she's out for good?' because I didn't feel that she was. Like you either make sure your enemy is dead or bind them somehow so they don't regain consciousness and attack you when your back is turned! Loki at least is a properly trained warrior, he should have done that! Even Sylvie presumably has years of fighting experience, she should have known to do that as well. Anyway, sorry to all the Mobius fans, but I just was never interested in him at all. (Which kind of fits with the character, though, I think? The TVA wants their workers to be mindless drones, not individuals with their own personalities.)
EDIT: Thanks to someone who mentioned the end credit scene, now it's even less angsty than i thought.

Loki Angst (3.5K Words)
Ever since Loki Ep 4 came out, I've been having a strong Maladaptive daydream to the ending credits song. So in true fashion, I'm going to write it here. Enjoy.
When reading, this story is in no way accurate to whats happened in the series so far, this was purely out of my imagination.
Song Inspiration - If You Love Me by Brenda Lee
~~~
Asgard's golden walls glistened proudly with streamers and its pillars blossomed with decorative flowers and fruit. The floor must have been cleaned until someone's fingers bled because when you looked down from the higher floor, you couldn't make up your mind as to which side of the arriving guests was the reflection. The small congregation was accompanied by floating champagne glasses and flowing fabrics of satin and silk, their laughs and high-class conversations wafted through the halls as you watched on in awe.
You knew you weren't exactly a part of this society, let alone this world, but you wanted to at least experience something like this. Watching from afar, you still needed to get changed into your dress for tonight. As for Loki and Sylvie, you hadn't seen them, so you wandered through the long hallways on your own.
Whilst wandering past small fruit and nut bowls displayed in the marble corridors, you thought as to what was happening between your two friends. Things had subtly changed between the three of you and even though they did their best, you knew something had happened between them. They would hopefully tell you though since you had known Loki ever since you could remember, and the thought of him keeping you out in the cold on a secret sent shivers up your spine. Sure, people can keep things to themselves but this felt - different, it put a strain on your friendship and you had the thought that maybe it was your fault that they became distant from you. Did you say something or do something that they weren't a fan of? You didn't like to think like that but it felt like your only option.
You pushed open your door and closed it behind you, making sure to lock it. The cold summers breeze met your face as you drifted over to the small window overlooking the wonderful scene that was graciously displayed below you. Accompanied by the royal gardens, you breathed in a sigh, as your eyes settled on the stars that trickled over Asgard like glitter on a golden trophy, and made sure to capture every single feature the Realm happened to have. You felt like you were home, yet your brain knew that you weren't. The reminder: The Bifrost. It sat in the very distance, its attention gravitating towards you like a persistent magnet, propelling you to come back to your true home and yet, you continued to push back, making sure you stayed here a little longer, just to see things out.
All the while, your hands sneaked their way to your neck, fiddling with a necklace that Loki gave you from your younger years. It became a habit of yours when you were worried about something, and the mischievous scamp had caught you out on it a few times, which then lead you to spill every worry out in front of him. He practically knew everything that you were afraid of and you were secretly proud to say that you knew things about Loki even Thor didn't know about. You two had a lot of history together and you couldn't imagine it any other way, but it wasn't until later that the two of you became a trio. Sylvie was a nice person but the resemblance of her next to Loki was oddly similar, and you still hardly knew anything about her - even to this day. But Loki seemed comfortable around her and when he was happy, you were. The three of you had a lot of fun together and tonight was going to be one of them again, having fun and messing around with anything you could get your hands on. It would probably be the fruit or Odin's staff like last time.
Contemplation was caught short when you heard a knock at the door. You tucked the necklace in your shirt, slid the window shut and closed the curtain. Walking over to the door, you opened it to a smiling Sylvie. Her black outfit was muddy all over and her hair was frazzled, yet her face held the joy of a child which was a new look on her.
Inviting her in, she strode in and sat on your bed, the clean mattress became mucky as her boots trailed in mud from outside. Her stubborn demeanour had dropped and she was talking about something that you didn't quite understand. You stopped her mid-sentence as you calmed her down, telling her to breathe slowly in and out. This was completely new and unrehearsed between the two of you as she started to wind down.
"Is this what you're wearing tonight?" She asked, "It looks nice" stroking the gown carefully.
"Thanks" You replied "Are you going tonight?"
"Yes, I am."
"Awesome! We can get up to all sorts of things tonight! We can steal the fruit, tip some hard liquor into the drinks, or maybe we could-"
"Actually, I don't feel like doing that type of stuff tonight" Sylvie interrupted you this time. "Could we have just one normal night? Like civilly?"
You were taken back. She had never said no to mischief before. This became strangely scary for you. Is this the same Sylvie you knew? She seemed so... mature.
"Oh, oh ok. That's fine." You said. "You better go and get dressed! You definitely need to go and have a bath!" You laughed.
Leading her to the door again, you let Sylvie pass through. An uneasy feeling settled as you watched her float down the hallway, the same grin plastered on her face.
What was going on with her? And where was Loki? He should be in the Palace by now? He was probably with Odin, or Thor letting guests in.
You turned back to face your room and walked towards your long vanity. Its clean mirror and your makeup kit sat proudly upon it, eagerly ready to be used. Sitting down at the station, applying your makeup routine always made you feel like you were going to a grand ball. Well, you were, but the feeling of actually going made butterflies break that pit in your stomach. You gazed at your own reflection, one of a goddess staring back at you. It was one of those surreal moments when you felt like the baddest bitch of them all, feeling like no one could ever stop you from doing anything.
The gown you had picked out slipped off the hanger pricelessly as you delicately slipped it on. Its expensive fabric clasped your figure elegantly as you zipped up the back, making extra sure that it didn't snag on anything. The makeup was wonderfully done and the hair was styled on your head just so, but there was one thing missing.
You untucked the necklace and layed it on top. Perfect.
Doing a small twirl with your heels on, you stood in front of the closets' large mirror for a minute, taking in your gorgeous outfit for the night. Tonight was the night you felt like a princess.
You grabbed your clutch as you glided out of the, now dim hallway. The main light now coming from the grand hall as it coaxed you its way, making your gown glisten with its warm appeal.
Finally basking in its glory, you peered down at the fully decorated hall. So many people had gathered as you watched on again, spotting Odin and Thor right below you, yet no sign of the other God. You stayed up the higher floor, weaving through the bannisters to see if you could catch a glimpse of the green cape. The orchestra played beautiful symphonies as you swayed on from above, fiddling with the golden chain. You slowly got carried away by the addicting melody as you glided down the grand staircase, blending in with the Asgardian crowd. People were beginning to look at you with admiration and smiles started to appear in front of you. You embarrassingly smiled and nodded back, trying to fit in with the night greetings.
You reached your hand onto a passing wine glass tray as you stepped to the outskirts of the crowd, allowing your heated face to cool and your breathing to slow. It had only been a couple hours and you were already flustered. But where were Loki and Sylvie?
You squeezed your way back through the large assembly as you crept up the stairs once more, getting slightly worried as to where the two were.
"There she is!" A familiar face grinned.
You turned and met with the face of Loki, his hair gelled back and that all too familiar smirk brought a chuckle to your lips. He stood at the top of the staircase, dominating the space around him. People had started to notice the young God positioned above them and started to utter whispers and occasional glances.
Your eyes studied his features like a book. The Emerald and Gold colour scheme never seemed to fade on him and his cape shadowed behind his tall and broad shoulders courageously like it always did. The addicting cologne lulled you into a warm embrace, his arms wrapped around you shallowly. Loki never was one for hugs but he didn't mind breaking his "reputation" for you. The gesture ended too soon as Loki scanned the grand room, his daring eyes searching for something. He turned to you.
Mischief chuckled. his eyes filled with amusement. "I should think so, she should be fine this evening, however."
"Have you seen Sylvie? I need to speak with her?"
"Uh, no I don't sorry, but she was acting a little strange earlier today. She was all smiley and a little too happy. Is everything alright with her?"
You nodded, taking his words with a pinch of salt.
"Speak of the lady." You muttered.
Sylvie glided up behind him and suddenly, everything went mute. Nothing but the sounds of your heartbeat entered your ears as you stared. The crisp sound of the orchestra was now muffled and guests discussions became mute. Your breathing shallowed yet you continued to stare.
Eternity flew by in a matter of seconds as you looked at your two friends before you.
Both were wearing Gold and Emerald. Sylvie's long dress complimented Loki's cape and boots and around what was around her slender neck was the cherry on top of this momentous cake.
You looked down at your hands that went to a necklace. All of its meaning had now been transferred to the new owner.
Everything had slotted together. Why Sylvie was smiling so much, Loki's mysterious absences, his short discussion, their secretive behaviour.
The noise came flooding back into your ears once more, making your eyes water. The chattering and clinking of glasses recentered you.
"Is everything alright?" Loki questioned. His arm now linked with Sylvie's, her face displayed the same curiosity.
Your mouth uttered something, yet nothing tumbled out. Instead, your body forced you to turn around and walk.
You walked. Just walked. Walked as far away as you possibly could. Your shoes took you further and further away from the Hall and outside to the gardens. More tears started to fall as you stupidly peered through one of the Palace's windows.
Your stained eyes met with the crowd making room for the event you didn't want to witness, yet couldn't help but watch. It made way for your two friends starting the evening. The urge to pull your eyes away from the situation unfolding became numb. You stood still as Loki took the small of Sylvie's back proudly as they began to waltz, the cushioned sound of the strings and flutes echoed outside as they floated around the room, their eyes never left one another's. Your body became weighted but you knew that one final flick would send you crumbling. Your hands clenched into fists and you couldn't do anything about it.
Loki looked so happy. Still, you weren't. Perhaps it was better for this to happen. They didn't fully know how you came to be in Asgard and thinking it through thoroughly, you didn't want to tell them, not now.
The God of Mischief never looked so proud to be in the centre of the crowd like this, so to keep this secret from you made your heart ache with either pride or betrayal, you couldn't make up your foggy mind.
The Hall became absent of one guest as they slowly walked into the gardens. The stillness of the night's air felt nice against your bare skin and the flowers bloomed gloriously around you. The tall shrubbery loomed over you, blocking out nearly all of the Palaces' light, but you couldn't escape the moon's view.
You strolled in and out of the beds, touching every delicate bulb that you passed. Relishing in its dainty scents, your path came to end with a wooden bench. Its worn planks provided support as you perched on it, resting your killing feet.
Now, what do you do? It was clearly evident that they were fine without you and to be completely honest with yourself, you knew the time to leave this world was drawing nearer and nearer.
The thought of leaving everything behind caused you to break down properly this time, that awful feeling of disgust and hurt pounded at your stomach as your throat was caught on itself.
The night's sky helplessly observed as the air blew colder and colder, the moons light leaving as you trailed back slowly.
Silent sobs resounded off the Palaces back stairwell and to your guest door. Heavy footsteps sounded on the damp carpet as the priceless dress was shrugged off, flopping on the floor lifelessly. The smudged makeup was wiped off and the styled hair was ruffled once more. Silence.
A piece of scroll and a quill were picked up and written on, the scratches of ink were all that could be heard in the small bedroom. Still, no words could be mustered.
A luggage bag was lifted from the top of the closet as t-shirts, jeans and essentials were folded neatly and zipped up. A sniffle was collected.
The open letter was placed on the bed and with a tearful kiss, so was the necklace.
"Thank you for letting me stay, but now I need to leave." A weak voice was finally projected.
The hurt walked down the hallway and back into the Palaces Grand Ball. It walked through the marble pillars, passed the infamous throne and out of the doors.
"Would you like me to carry your bag?" A smooth voice asked.
You whipped your head around to see Heimdall. Of course, he knew what you were doing. The man positioned himself humbly, his uniform reflected the warm lighting come from inside.
"Go and have one more look, I shall meet you at the Bridge."
You gave him a small smile and walked back to the large doors. You lingered in the doorway, eyeing the many guests and savouring the memories that were fading fast.
The vision fell on the young couple that were at the very far end of the room, They were talking to some of the guests, actually socialising. They looked so happy together, his hand draped around her like it was always meant to do that. Her eyes beaming with pride as she glanced up at him only made you cement your choice.
You smiled.
You took yourself on a little tour around the public square, seeing the many beautiful pictures of people houses, lavish fountains and well-kept marble streets. Each of its precisely cracked lines etched in gold, eventually directed you to the edge of the idyllic city. You laughed as you spotted the overly known spots the three of you used to meet at. You walked over to the tree as you looked on fondly at the permanent markings on its trunk. Your head lifted up to prevent an emotional collapse, you didn't want to make this harder than it should be, yet you were all the same.
Hours became minutes and you spotted Heimdall at the bridge, your suitcase grasped in his hand. Just one more time.
You made your final view on Asgard, from the Palace at the back from the small houses and shops at the front. Everything looked so much larger than from your bedroom window.
"Are you ready?" Heimdall said and offered his arm.
You chucked as you accepted, grandly strolling down the bridge to the Bifrost. The array of colours danced below you as Heimdall unexpectedly spun you around politely. His chuckle filled the air as you joked around on your way, forming even more moments that your heart desperately wanted to cling to. The evening's glitter shone above the both of you, customising spotlights on the two trying to make this special night one to remember.
"I am going to miss you Mid- Guardian."
"I'm gonna miss you too Heimdall."
The Biofrost expanded bigger and bigger until it was practically on top of you both. Your dance ceased to a stop as the gatekeeper placed a soft kiss on the top of your hand.
Footsteps bounced off the hollow walls as the two of you walked inside the orb. The cold interior made you shiver as your infinite time was now mere seconds.
"After you Heimdall" you laughed, trying to hold back tears that were starting to erupt again.
"Thank you, but before I forget, may I request you do something." He said. "Do you mind turning around?"
Confused, you obliged. Turning around, Heimdall's cold hands came to the back of your neck and left just as swiftly.
You stared down, your tired eyes widening.
"Heimdall how do you have thi-"
You spun back around but didn't come face to face with Heimdall.
You froze, paralysed to the spot as your breathing sharpened.
Your bags thudded to the Bifrosts floor and you crashed into him, your hands grabbed at his cloak as you sobbed into his leathered outfit. He dropped to his knees and pulled you in closer, his face burrowed into the crook of your shoulders. The jet black hair was becoming ungelled as the two of you stayed in that hug for a long time. His breathing became shallow and your shoulder was becoming damp. You pulled the hug in, infinitely closer, desperately not wanting to let him go. Your mind was scraping back at the fleeting moments as your exit grew bigger and bigger, applying pressure on top of the emotional wreckage to part ways.
Alas, you sadly tore away from one another, looking directly into one another's eyes, his green ones pierced into yours, pleading you to stay. Nonetheless, you both knew that couldn't be the case.
"I could stay here with you, you know"
"You know that can't happen Mid-Guardian. It pains me that you must leave. We have caused a lot of mischief together and I am so proud of the person you have become, even if you were under my influence." He choked, tears forming in his eyes. Your hand cusped his jawline, your thumb dragged along his cheek and to his eyes. His skin was made of pale velvet. His yearning tears were smoothed away from his eyes as he breathed out a shaky sigh.
You both dragged back yourselves up to your feet, his taller shadow looking down on you. He slowly picked up and passed you your luggage as you both locked eye contact for one last time.
He knew he had to let you go but for once in his life, this was the hardest goodbye he had to be a part of. You meant so much to him and the way he behaved tonight finally made him realise that no matter what he did or who he met, no one would be able to make him feel or experience anything like this the way you did, not even Sylvie.
"Don't forget me Loki."
"Oh my Dear, I won't be forgetting you for a very long time." He gave you a grin before wiping his eyes once more. "Now go and make some more mischief down on Mid-Guard for me."
You placed a sensitive kiss on his cheek as you edged closer to the Bifrosts vacuum. You turned around to admire the God of Mischief once more, a small tear leaked from your red face again.
Loki gave you a wink and then soon he wasn't there anymore.
Loki stood there painfully as you were soon out of sight, his mind racing with everything he should have said that never escaped his mouth.
He peered at the Bifrost that had now shut, hoping that for some miraculous reason that you would return, as his hand ran through his tousled hair. His breath became ragged once more as his knees buckled, his white-knuckled fists slammed into the floor, the impact caused the portal to shake slightly. If he didn't behave like such an arse hole tonight, maybe things could have turned out differently. how long did you know that you had to leave him one day?
His unanswered questions marinated as he regrettably crawled back to his feet and trudged back towards the festivities, his cape dragged behind him heavily. His bottled emotions made his blood boil as he let out a singular scream, cascading into the dark void of the Realm.
But if he loved you, then he had to let this happen.
So, after such a controversial episode, an episode that tRaUmAtIzEd and dIvIdEd the fandom... the episode in question has a 9.4 score on imdb (and, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's one of the highest score for a MCU project there), the show score is still at 8.9,  the RT scores are basically unchanged, and OfficialLoki IG is at 1.2M, so it grew of 100K in less than a week. Also, a lot of people are now re-evaluating ep 3, saying that it is not a filler after all (I mean, there is still someone a little too proud to admit of being wrong, but still). I think it really shows that the series is generally loved and compelling, and that, at the end of the day, the Loki fandom and the Debbie Downers of twitter and fb are really a small portion of the big MCU audience, even though they are really loud.
All. Of. This.
And now the hype for episode 5 is very real. Look at some of the New Rockstars YT comments, on the latest theory video, for instance, and the excitement for the next episode is basically most of the comment section. Especially after the mid-credits sequence.
That used to be called a "water cooler" show.
Oh, and for those who wanted to quote the Google trends incel YouTuber??
Tumblr media
WV (except for the finale) and FatWS would have killed for the search numbers for episode 4.
Guys I have a theory about our Loki 💚
Theory Time :
The first episode is about the soul stone 🧡
This stone is orange like the inside of the facility of the TVA. It is about Loki's soul and how he was, have to be and how he will be. There is also the scene with the Are you a robot ? Have you a real soul ?
The second episode is about the reality stone ❤
Same for the colour in the shop all red. And he meets Sylvie who is him. His new reality. He can only count on him, on her. When he choose to follow her the lights came back to normal. Because he followed this reality, his.
The third is about the power stone, the purple one. 💜
Colour thing : Lamentis ( the planet ) is purple. And Sylvie et Loki are using their powers and they try to control each other. Sylvie showed him how her magic works.
The 4 th ep is a bit more complicated.
It I about the space stone, the blue one. 💙
The colour blue is present during the last scene with the Times Keepers and Loki's death. This stone is what Loki wanted, and it is also what brings him to death in Infinity War. Finaly in this episode we travel in à lot of places : Lamentis, the TVA, Mobius office, Rennslayer's office, the scene with Sylvie and B-15, where Loki is with Sif and the room with the Times Keepers. A lot of places for the space stone.
The 5th is for the time stone, the green one. 💚
Loki, Sylvie and Mobius are in a chaotic place wich take place at the end of times. Loki met Old himself, Young too and Loki like him but just few times ago when he was obsessed by power. Also Loki's colour is green and the episode was full of Loki. 🥰 The last scene when Loki and Sylvie fight Aliot there is a green shadow surounding them.
The last episode will be about the mind stone, the yellow one. 💛
I remind you all that in the first épisode when Loki finds all the Infinity stones we didn't see the mind one. We can only see it in the credits. At the end of the episode.
The last episode will reveale the mastermind of the serie. Who is this son of a b**ch who created the TVA. And maybe a Loki is the mastermind because in the original timeline, Thanos gave him this stone wich is in his Seidr, is it why he could control Hawkeye. Maybe in another timeline he didn't lost it and he kept it.
Searching his glorious destiny and snatching all the Lokis, it is why we have all this Lokis in the 4th episode. We also didn't see the King Loki in the serie threaler.
Tumblr media
And well this place has à beautifull YELLOW colour. And it takes us back where all begins : New York when Loki still has his Seidr and the mind stone.
It is all for my theory bent.
But I guess the serie was quite annoying for me because of the lack of powerfull Loki. But maybe he was here since the beginning. I think we will see the biggest plotwist of the world. And then binge-watche the serie again.
I think they want us to believe in Loki but that will made us blind that he is the bad guy that we needed. Because a serie about Loki without a trick sounds weird. The Loki we followed no, but if another one is playing with the TVA's members and all the people through space and time was a Loki too. This one would definetely be the bad guy.
So the final fight would be against himself ? Said @electroma89
Like in Wandavision, with Vision vs. Vision or in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, with New Cap vs. The guy who think he is Cap, or in Endgame Cap vs. Cap.
WARNING! SPOILER ALERT! LOKI EP4 + AGENT OF ASGARD COMICS!
About (Self)Love and Narration
So, a lot of things happened in Ep. 4 and it got me thinking about the topics of narration and (self) acceptance/love in this show. After a healthy amount of deliberation I‘ll even dare to theorize about how this season will progress. Just hear me out.
First of all I think we have to view the events of the sacred timeline as a literal narration. Loki as a character in this narration has a single (not so glorious, heh XD) purpose. He‘s a mere plot device, the villain, designed to move the plot forward and help build and develop others characters. Mobius, who takes on the role of the observer, says so himself in Ep. 1!
„You weren‘t born to be king Loki. You were born to cause pain, and suffering and death. That‘s how it was, that‘s how it will be. All so that others can achieve their best version of themselves.“-Mobius Ep.1
It‘s important that this comes from Mobius, someone who has not only studied the life of „our“ Loki but has seen the stories of many other Loki variants pan out. And the common denominator seems to be Loki‘s repeated failure which leads to him becoming the villain of the story.
And of course, once "our" Loki quite literally leaves the narration (as he escapes via Tesseract and is brought to the TVA, a place seperate from the normal flow of time) and becomes an observer of his own story (in the time theater, Episode 1), he begrudgingly realizes this as well. As the God of Mischief, he of all people, despises the idea of a single establishment (the TVA) holding so much power over the universe and his own path in life. But at the same time his views on choice and personal freedom at the beginning of Episode 1 aren‘t much different from the TVA‘s… in fact they're eerily similar.
„For nearly every living thing, choice breeds shame, and uncertainty, and regret. Theres a fork in every road, yet the wrong path always taken.“-Loki, Ep.1
He even uses the same exact phrasing when criticizing the TVA‘s motives and later on explaining his own actions:
„It's an illusion. Ist a cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear. A desperate attempt at control.“ -Loki, Ep.1
Fast forward to Episode 4, where we find out that the time keepers are nothing but an illusion. Another interesting parallel, don't you think? So now the big question is of course, who‘s the mastermind behind all this? That‘s where my theory comes into play.
I think the ‚big bad' is none other than Loki himself. And I mean not just any of the many variants we know exist, but a future, alternative version of „our“ Loki. The Loki who still holds onto the believes „our“ Loki exhibited in Ep.1. Someone who lost over and over again, which led him to believe that no matter what choice he made, he was destined to fail. So what did he do to break the vicious circle of choosing and failing in an attempt to regain control? Easy, he simply took away the choice and took the narration of the story into his own hands. And this carefully controlled story is the ‚sacred timeline'. He created the TVA and the time keepers as a guise, so he could remove every Loki variant that didn‘t act according to his script. (This may explain the flock of variant Lokis in the post credit scene of Ep 4)
Another reason why I believe this theory to be true are the parallels between this show and the ‚Agent of Asgard‘ Comics by Al Ewing. In fact Al Ewing and Lee Garbett are even mentioned in the Credits! (Caution! Spoilers for AoA incoming!) The storyline of the comic series is that of a future, „evil“ („“ because, as we know „no one bad is ever truly bad") version of Loki, who, frustrated by his lack of control over his own life, tries to manipulate his younger self into becoming this evil version of himself sooner (and isn't that ironic…and a bit hard to grasp as well). In the end Loki has to reinvent himself by letting go of past grudges in order to free himself from his destiny to turn into the villain of the story once more. By actively changing his present self and becoming the god of stories he is able to change his seemingly set path. In the end it is a story about self love and growth and the understanding that nobody has power over your future but your present self.
And I think what we learn in Episode 4 about self acceptance and self love is massively important in order to predict and understand what comes next in the series. At the beginning of the episode we see Sylvie and Loki on Lamentis, sharing a moment of mutual admiration in the face of seemingly certain death. Three things about this scene I find very interesting.
1. The composition of the scene with Loki and Sylvie sitting next to each other in a mirrored position. This emphasizes that while they may be variants, they still are reflections of one another.
2. The fact that this shared moment creates a massive branch in the sacred timeline. Why does this happen? I think it‘s because Loki shows actual love/ acceptance towards himself (even though it may be through his variant). And that‘s not „supposed to happen“, because the key ingredient for „our“ Loki to turn into the „evil narrator Loki", is a whole lot of self-loathing.
3. Loki‘s quote about surviving no matter how bad the loss. Which is an important bit of character development in itself but it’s what he said next („But we don‘t die“) that got me thinking. And I consider this to be one of the most important clues regarding my speculation. Loki has „died“ dozens of times during MCU history but he never stayed dead. Why is that, if he‘s merely a plot device, you ask? Well, I think it‘s because „evil Narrator Loki“, while not allowing „our" Loki to make his own choices, still doesn‘t want to kill himself off. So he simply deus ex machinas his escapes from death time and time again.
Considering all these details from Episode 4 I‘d like to theorize a little bit further about the ending of the show. I think the ‚big bad‘ they will face is future, „evil“ Loki himself. But by then our Loki will have learned to be at ease with himself with the help of the support system he built during the last episodes (Mobius and Sylvie). He no longer needs to keep up the illusion in order to trick himself and others in a desperate struggle for control. Because now he truly values himself enough to have confidence in himself and his choices. Because of this advancement in character his „future“ version will simply cease to exist because the foundation of self-loathing and perceived helplessness are no more. (Yeah it sounds a bit cheesy. I will admit. But it's a nice ending, OK?)
That‘s it. Hope this made any sense at all and if not…oh well 😂
Here are my continuing thoughts as I continue to watch Loki Series 1.
Ep 3
Sylvie’s one horned headpiece reminds me of one of the goats I had. RIP Uno ❤️
You’re in my way/You are my way!
It’s not an OTP until they try to kill each other at least once, haha!
Did they litteraly land on a bed roll or something? That’s it, game over, we know how this ends.
You’re out of juice!
Did Loki let Sylvie through the door first?
When they lean in together when Sylvie attempts to enchant Loki, they form a heart.
Nice try Loki.
To end of the world.
They went from fighting to flirting pretty fast there.
Ep 4
So Rovanna arrested Little Girl Sylvie.
Well the Time Keepers are eerie. Remind me of the Skeksis.
So who actually killed C20?
Go and catch a falling star
Tell me where all past years are
Had Loki found a maiden true and fair?
Or nah?
Getting philosophical there by the lake while they’re almost about to die
They’re making cow eyes at each other while the world ends! 😂
So is this why they tell you not to touch hands with boys? It can cause branches to rise hehehe. Maybe branches on your family tree?
So is this the moment that they ‘fell in love’ ? Their love saved them.
I know Kang is watching this moment by the lake like, ‘aww yeah!’
Tumblr media
Mobuis’s face after Sylvie and Loki have been captured for their nexus event is like “WHAT HAVE I DONE?!”
Is B15 suspicious of the TVA?
Oh, Loki is trying to cover for Sylvie.
‘Well, we saved you the trouble. She’s already been pruned.’ Clever, Mobuis!
He’s not denying that he’s fallen for Sylvie.
Poor B15. ☹️
The Dyeing Swan, for theremin.
Aw, ‘friendship like ours is not common, so it’s worth fighting for.
Oh, Mobuis switched his and Rovanna’s TemPads.
The TVA doesn’t have headphones?
‘How about the word of a friend.’
Mobuis no! B15 yes!
Nice throw Sylvie! And the time keepers are robots.
What was Loki going to tell Sylvie? The ending credits make me think of something very specific. 😏
Ok, that last scene! 😂😂😂
I guess now is as good a time as any to collect my thoughts about the Loki series because I have very mixed feelings about it.
I want to start by saying thank you to the wardrobe department for letting this guy run around with his sleeves rolled up for multiple episodes. It was very much appreciated.
Tumblr media
Spoilers to follow...
I also want to preface this by saying that I was never one of those hardcore Loki stans. I've always found the character compelling, but that's more down to the actor's portrayal than anything else. This is one of those cases of exactly the right actor for exactly the right role. (And yeah, I think Tom Hiddleston is attractive. What do you want from me, I'm superficial.)
After enjoying WandaVision and TFATWS, I was feeling pretty low-key about Loki. Just watch the show, they said. It'll be fun, they said.
WELL.
I was not expecting to have all these feelings about it??!
Let's start with some complaints:
I thought the pacing was a little off compared to WV and TFATWS. Episode 1 dragged. Things picked up in ep. 2, then things got WILD in episode 3, then episodes 4 and 5 were both solid.
I kind of wish it had ended right there because I, for one, was having a pretty good time.
This show was different than I expected it to be. When they first announced it, I had a grand vision of Loki running amok through the timeline and the TVA cleaning up after him, like an even more chaotic version of Legends of Tomorrow. After Thor: Ragnarok, I was hoping for some fun shenanigans. But, as this is an earlier version of Loki, we got existential angst instead.
We did, however, get Old Man Loki and this hilarious alligator:
Tumblr media
I had a feeling that they would leave us with a fractured timeline for the final episode because that's the direction the MCU is moving in. I also saw the betrayal coming, even though I was really hoping they'd surprise me.
The series suffers from being the first chapter in a larger story. I think it would've been more affective to end the series with Loki and Sylvie venturing into the Mansion at the End of Time and then hit is with a post-credits teaser of the Big Bad. That way it would've felt a bit more wrapped up and we could've been left feeling good about a second season instead of being ANNOYED that we have to wait however long to see how things work out. However: the actor absolutely nailed it! He's going to be an amazing villain in future movies!
Tumblr media
They balanced the self-contained story/piece of a larger story aspect much better in WandaVision. They wrapped up the story. It was sad but cathartic. Wanda's journey was so deep and I still get emotinoal thinking a bout it. And we still got the multiverse tease in the post credits scene.
Tumblr media
TFATWS also told a self-contained story. Yes, it left us with plot threads to pick up later, but the main story was wrapped up. The characters got to learn and grow and it was so well done.
Loki was also on a great growth arc. I'm not complaining about that. They managed to take a character I've always had mixed feelings about and make me care about him! And they acknowledged that he’s bi! (Not that they did much with it, but I wasn’t expecting them to. This is the MCU, not the Arrowverse. I’ve learned to expect nothing more than blink-and-miss rep. That’s all they’re willing to give us at this point. The MCU is woefully behind when it comes to LGBT rep. I know I should be mad about it, but in this case, I’m willing to let bicons be bicons.)
Tumblr media
But they just left way too much stuff up in the air for my liking. I don't mind an open-ended season, but it's so much better to wrap up the current plot and introduce the next thing! They... kinda did that? But with more questions than answers and in the most heartbreaking way possible!
There were a lot of interesting new characters introduced. Hunter B-15 was a standout, and it was awesome to have Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Owen Wilson rounding out the cast.
But SYLVIE! Sylvie broke my heart, y'all.
She's got everything: tragic backstory, powers, a dramatic lowering-the-hood moment. It's such a gamble to put an established character up against a newcomer. At this point, we've been watching stories about Loki for a decade. His name is the title of the show! And yet, Sylvie stole the show.
Tumblr media
I hope this character sticks around, because I want to know more about her backstory and her exploits.
It's so wild to me because I (and many people on the internet) envisioned Katie McGrath as the gender-bent version of Loki. I'm a diehard fan of hers. I was never expecting it would actually happen, mind you. It was just a nice thought. And typecasting because, y’know, she looks like THAT.
Tumblr media
I’m glad they went in a different direction when they cast this role. As much as I love Katie, I think it would’ve been too distracting. I was glad to see an unfamiliar face in the role. It skewered my expectations in the best way. I thought Sophia Di Martino had great screen presence and she held her own against the cast of more well-known actors. I also liked her dynamic with Hiddleston.
"And speaking of which…
Guys, I ship it.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, given the fact that they’re variations of the same person, but I was really rooting for these two! They totally snuck up on me. This is not the kind of ship I usually go for. I mean, it’s weird, right?
AND YET.
There’s something to be said about learning to love yourself. It’s heteronormative that Loki’s "self" ended up being a girl, but I liked them, ok? I can’t explain it. Maybe it’s just me being bi and thinking they’re both cute, but here we are. All aboard the chaotic bi express!
After Sylvie's big reveal in episode two, I was like: wow, look at her! I can’t wait to see Loki get his ass kicked by his alt-universe self! Then in episode 3 they were fighting and going off on an adventure together, bickering all the way. Then with the singing? And the eye contact? WTF?
Then we get the hand-holding in episode 4:
Tumblr media
Then with the hurt looks, the back-to-back battle couple fighting, the EMOTIONS. When Loki thought she was pruned? OUCH. The acting! When he actually DID get pruned? The heartbreak! He was so soft with her in that last scene and like an idiot, I fell for it.
Then they meet up again in episode 5 and he RUNS TOWARD HER like he hasn’t seen her in years?! Getting past the enemy with the power of friendship? Them SHARING THE BLANKET??!!
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m a sucker. I’m a clown. I played myself. They gave me all the tropes. All that was missing was a dance scene with UST. *slides a 20 dollar bill to the writers as a bribe for season 2*
I totally saw the betrayal coming. And it HURT. I really don’t need any more tragic ships in my armada and these two are probably doomed, right?
Probably. Am I still going to ship it? Definitely.
And speaking of ships: it doesn’t have to me Loki/Sylvie OR Loki/Mobius. Loki has two hands!
Tumblr media
Anyway, I just needed to ramble about all of that because my emotions are doing a thing. I really wasn't expecting to feel this way! I know it will never happen but I kind of want to see Loki, Mobius, and Sylvie to go to New Asgard and meet up with Thor. Imagine the shenanigans!
But most importantly: I think someday, when they meet up again, Thor will be proud of the man his brother is growing into. He's still got a ways to go to get there, but he's further along in his path than Sylvie is. I hope she gets there too.
What is love? Lady thou woundest mine heart.
LOKI SPOILERS UNDER CUT
Ok ok ok, I have NEVER went through such an emotional rollarcoaster than when watching Ep 4….like marvel?? disney?? OW MY FUCKING HEART I CRIED WAYYYY TOO MUCH
Ok so i thought Sylvie was going to be Enchantress guess i was wrong, but also i’m still not ruling it out tbh bc of the fact she looks EXACTLY the same as enchantress from the comics and the fact she ’enchants’ people.
Another thing, Sylvie and Loki are 100% gonna end up together, kinda called it on Ep 3 there was so much of that kind of tension between them i turned to my dad and went ”yep they’re defo gonna shag” 😂 It was also rumoured a while ago to kinda back that up that Loki was gonna have a partner in the series, in fact it was rumoured that he’d have 2 partners both female and male. And if variants don’t acc die after being ”pruned” like we seen with loki at the post credit scene then that also means mobius is still alive so…👀bf? Though i wasn’t really a fan of the ship for no other reason than it just didn’t seem right it’s a possibility that it will happen.
So theory of what’s gonna happen, since at the end we see Loki with 3 other Loki’s i’m pretty sure one of them must either have something or are in the middle of making something that let’s them move around like the tempad. I think that there are whole world type things where certain variants go when they get pruned. For example there will be a whole place for Loki variants who have been pruned, and then Mobius’s etc, so they’re gonna find out a way to get to those different places with other pruned variants. Then they’ll therefore find out how to get back to the TVA, Loki will find Sylvie, they’ll then lead the destruction of the TVA with the workers by showing them their beloved Time Keepers abd its turns into a fight sort if thing.
I could be totally wrong about all of that, but yknow its just a thought…feel free to discuss lol
