been desperately craving to go back to my bookworm days and, this time, delve into the world of monster romance novels

#i havent been super super bookworm mode since i was in elementary school #i would spend hours in my favorite green armchair in my room #knees tucked underneath myself so much and so often that i permanently warped the chair #don’t get me wrong - i read fanfic almost all the time #ive been reading a prologue fic of a tiktok series im really invested in #and its so well written and pulls such deep emotion out of me that it makes me miss my reading days #tbf tho that could’ve been autism bc I distinctly remember starting a book and finishing it within a day #books were my escape. i had no friends. i wasnt allowed to have friends (more or less) #i couldnt go to anyones house. i had to stay home and do my homework and watch my brothers from a very cery young age #so what else could i do but read my books? read my brothers’ books? steal my mom’s books? #i ended up reading everything in the house #i got so bored and understimulated that i started reading all the mail on the counter #my mom had to start hiding it bc i was so nosy #where the mint grows #i just miss those afternoons spent reading where i feel So Many Emotions inside and time feels like jelly #update I understand why this fic hurts so good - its bc its hitting me right in the mommy issues #thanks! i hate it.

Mr. Kouzaki

((Y’know what I’ve spent almost 3 days nonstop on this guy so I’m going to post about him))

This Atolla Jellyfish is the homeroom teacher for class 1-1, Kouzaki, Masahiko (光咲 雅彦). He teaches biology! He won’t have an ending in the game, but I hope you’ll enjoy seeing him throughout the routes, I quite like him a lot :).

He uses he/him pronouns.

As with the romanceable students, etymology, fun facts, and gijinka doodles will be under the cut! :)

Kouzaki consists of the kanji characters 光 (kou) “light” and 咲 (zaki) “blossom”

Masahiko consists of the kanji characters 雅 (masa) “graceful, refined” and 彦 (hiko) “boy, prince“

Fun facts:

He dedicates his life to “the beauty of natural world,” learning as much as he could about it and honestly he’s just a really big emotional nerd.

Masahiko is a romantic at heart and along with his biology studies, he is also an accomplished artist! Lots of his illustrations have made their way in scientific publications.

He could’ve been an artist or an art teacher, but Masahiko really wants to get paid to talk to kids about biology. He’s also done quite a bit of scientific study for the crown as well :)

Basically I wanted this guy to subvert the “cold and unfeeling” scientist trope because tbh I think having a kind and open and passionate scientist character is fun :). He would absolutely ramble about nematocyst cells to you.

(this was just a beta doodle, the only thing that really stayed the same was the hair + eyes haha)

Notes:

I’m keeping the overalls, he looks cute in em. As he regularly draws/paints in his spare time, the overalls are sorta messy but he’d keep them on for the look

The goggles are usually pushed off of his face while he draws :). They are blue (the straps are blue too but im too lazy to colour them in haha)

The white strand of hair is based on the “atrophied tentacle” that atolla jellyfish usually have

He’d probably have more patches on his overalls (the blue moon jellyfish on his left pant leg should stay though it’s very cute)

As a deep sea jellyfish, he’d get warm pretty easily. I LOVE collared shirts and turtlenecks and sweaters, but realistically he’d dress in shorts haha
