For this tournament, which is being run by Mod Flux (@daryfromthefuture) and Mod Rainbow (@fandomaddict505) we'll be figuring out who the ultimate friendship duo is!

Some quick rules:

In keeping with a silly tradition I started for my birthday, what?, three years ago?, here’s an update of a story, and a new chapter will go on ao3 in a little bit.

Wherever You Are, I Am

Part 45

October passed and slid quietly into November. The weather cooled and rainstorms passed over more frequently. McCoy saw less of Jaylah on weekends as class assignments became longer and more frequent, and the semester end began to loom. She had also begun to make more friends on campus after he had introduced her to Astrid.

“Who all is coming?” he asked.

“All the usuals,” his mom answered.

“Ma, I haven’t been home for Thanksgiving in I don’t know how many years. I don’t know who the usuals are anymore.”

Mrs. McCoy laughed. “You do get to the point Leonard. Your sister and the boys. Your uncle and his new girlfriend. Nana Mabel and a few cousins.”

“Well it’ll be nice to see them.”

“We’re all looking forward to seeing you too. It’s been too long.”

“I know Ma. We’ll be on the first shuttle out after Jaylah’s last class Wednesday, and should be there mid-evening.”

“I’ll keep something warmed up for you to eat when you get here.” Mrs. McCoy smiled at her son.

“Sounds like a good plan. Speaking of, I should go get some dinner. I’ll see you next week Ma.”

“Yes, go eat. Can’t wait to see you. Love you Leo.”

“Love you too Ma.”

McCoy clicked off the call and set the PADD aside. Slowly he rose from the couch and went to the kitchen.

“Any plans for the long weekend Astrid?” McCoy asked as he packed his few things into his work bag.

“Some studying, not much else. Just hanging around campus. You sir?”

“We’re heading out to Georgia soon as Jaylah’s done for the day. Haven’t been home in who knows how many years.”

“Is your husband going to join you?” Astrid asked as they began to walk to the classroom door.

“No, but we’re heading to Yorktown for Christmas.”

“That’s good,” Astrid smiled. “Have a good holiday Dr. McCoy.”

“You too Astrid. Don’t study too much.” He stood for a moment as Astrid walked the other way, then began the walk to his quarters.

McCoy pulled the hood on his coat up as it began to rain again. He picked up his pace and was soon in his quarters. He glanced at the clock as he walked in the bedroom. There was still at least another hour before Jaylah would show up. He grabbed a bag and began to pack for the weekend.

“How long is the shuttle?” Jaylah asked as they boarded.

“Couple hours,” McCoy replied as they picked seats. “I can bore you with stories about who’ll be there if you want.” He laughed.

“I would like to know,” Jaylah said with a smile.

McCoy smiled as they pulled up to his childhood home. It looked the same as it always had. He had begun to tell Jaylah about his family on the shuttle, but she had leaned onto his shoulder and fallen asleep not too far into the trip. The drive to the house she had been wide eyed, looking out the windows.

“Come on darlin’,” McCoy said, getting out of the car.

He was quicker and shouldered both of their bags.

“This is your home?” Jaylah asked in awe.

“Yep, the ol’ McCoy homestead,” he smiled. “I’ll show you around tomorrow when it’s light. Show you the peach tree I planted when I was a boy.”

“I can not wait Dr. Bones.”

They had reached the front door and McCoy put a hand out to knock. In moments the door opened and Eleanor McCoy was in front of them.

“Oh Leonard! It’s so good to see you,” the older woman cried out.

McCoy set the bags down from his shoulder and stepped forward into his mother’s embrace. Mrs. McCoy squeezed him close before finally setting her hands on his shoulders and looking at him thoroughly. She brushed a hair from his forehead.

“You look well,” she smiled.

McCoy stooped to pick the bags up again as his mother turned to Jaylah.

“Welcome my dear,” Mrs. McCoy greeted her.

“Hello.” Jaylah’s greeting turned surprised as Mrs. McCoy pulled her in for a hug too.

“I’m so glad you could come.” Mrs. McCoy moved back. “Come in, come in, don’t spend the night on the porch. I’ll show you up to the room and then feed you, alright?”

“That’s fine Ma,” McCoy chuckled. He raised a questioning eyebrow at Jaylah. She was looking overwhelmed. “Who’s here already?” he asked as they followed Mrs. McCoy up the stairs.

“Leah and Steven and the kids. And Nana. I do hope you two don’t mind sharing a room. Uncle Eugene is staying over tomorrow and that’s that.”

“It’s no problem Ma,” McCoy said.

“I set a cot up in your old room. And of course you’ll have your own bathroom.”

“Ok.”

“You two get settled and come down when you’re ready. I’ll get dinner heated back up for you.” Mrs. McCoy left them at the bedroom.

McCoy dumped his bag on the cot and Jaylah’s on the bed.

“You alright darlin’?” he asked when they were alone. “I know Ma comes on a bit strong.”

Jaylah nodded, then smiled. “I like her.”

“Good.”

“Dr. Bones why did you put my bag here? It is your room.”

“I can rough it a couple nights. I remember those dorm beds; enjoy something nice for a few nights.”

“But—”

“Nope. No buts. I’ve slept on worse, trust me.”

“Ok,” Jaylah said slowly.

Mabel was feeling a bit nervous as she got closer to Michael's house. She'd been working on his sweater since the party where he told her about Nana. No one had ever wanted her to make one for them, Dipper and Grunkle Stan having a sweater forced upon them every year for her birthday. It was something she asked for each year and Dipper couldn't use the excuse that it was his birthday too. She loved her sweaters so much that they'd almost become a part of her identity. Her mood could even be reflected in her choice of top that day. Sometimes she was a raincloud and others a unicorn, she loved having the options. This being the first time she'd made one for a person not in her family made her nervous but the fact that he was also a super cute boy made her all the more anxious. She'd brought Waddles with her so that she didn't lose the nerve and turn back. He was always good at comforting her like that. "Okay Waddles, no turning back now," she spoke down to the pig that sat at her feet on his doorstep. Mabel took one more deep breath before knocking on the door with Waddles' leash in one hand and a pristinely folded sweater tied with a blue ribbon in her other. The brunette quickly brightened when the door opened. "Ding dong, sweater delivery," she said with a smile, holding out her creation for him to take.

Should he have stayed further away? Had all the small, platonic dates been too much? Klaus had only been trying to make things a little more comfortable. On all of them, someone commented about how cute a couple the two of you had been. He didn't want to be rude, nor did he want to force you to disclose sensitive information.

And yet, through it all, Klaus could feel himself getting more comfortable with your presence. He knew his hand was placed lower on your back, not to a disrespectful degree but he was still very aware of it. He didn't know if you were really okay with it. You never said anything about it, but Klaus was a professional worry wart.

What was the right thing for him to do?

Walking into his home and seeing you sitting, helping Damien and Evalyn with homework only made Klaus more confused. His heart was melting slowly, he wanted to join. It would be effortless for him to do so. But he still felt reserved about being too open with you.

"Papa!" Evalyn was the first to fully notice him, popping up to run over, "Nana showed me a cool trick, wanna see?"

"Of course mein Schatzchen." Klaus didn't hesitate to kneel, watching Evalyn's hands.

"See? Nana said that if you put down one finger like this," Evalyn was just too excited, "Then count the fingers before as the ten place. And the others as the ones. And its multipliee... multiplee..."

"Multiplication." You called from the couch.

"Yeah! For the nines." Klaus couldn't help melting, even if it was advanced math, "And the finger you put down is what you multiplee by!"

Carrying Evalyn back to her own homework, Klaus could see why you'd taught the kids any kind of multiplication. Damien was starting an advanced lesson in school. Though he also realized you were breastfeeding Mabel. Part of him wanted to leave and let you have some privacy. But then again, you were covered in a way so you could keep helping the children.

The other part of him wanted to settle next to you and just be comfortable. Being able to confide in you these past few months, Klaus didn't sit nearly as far away. Knowing his children adored you and seemed okay with you sticking around helped ease some of his mental burdens.

It was a tiny bit odd, putting Mabel to sleep in Klaus's room. But given that he wanted to be the one taking care of his child at night, also trying to say you were doing too much during the day... He was a little frustrating sometimes. Made you wonder how your friend handled this.

But before you could leave the room, you felt Klaus enter. It was a weird feeling, but you could just feel his presence. Yet you weren't afraid or even remotely timid by this. It was just Klaus, coming up behind you to check on Mabel as usual.

"[Name], I want to thank you for everything you've done." He spoke so softly, "I truly mean that. [Wife] had such a good judge of character. You truly are a wonderful person."

Turning to see that he was a little closer than you thought was a little jarring, "Klaus, it really isn't that big a deal. I would--"

"Please, don't belittle your sacrifice like that. It has been delightful having your assistance..."

Klaus coughed a little, "It's been delightful having you around. Your help and company have been very much welcomed. I truly appreciate everything you've done."

"I still would have done this in a heartbeat." You tried side-stepping him, both wanting to get away from Mabel's crib to not wake her up and also just wanting to let Klaus rest, "I know for a fact that had the shoe been on the other foot, [Friend] would have done the same."

You were only partially successful, "If something happened to me, if I were the one with kids and something happened... I know you and [Friend] would have done whatever you could have to help."

"Of course we would have." Klaus turned, half following you, "But it still means so much that you'd do this."

You were just barely at the bedroom door when, "[Name]?"

Turning to see Klaus had followed you like a puppy, you tilted your head.

"Could we..." His face was turning red as his hair, "Could we talk for a moment? Please?"

"Sure Klaus." You still stepped out of his room, "But maybe not so close to Mabel. Don't wanna risk waking her and all."

"Ah, yes." Klaus quickened his pace, "Certainly."

Sitting on the couch with a nervous Klaus was a new sort of bizarre. While you were a little used to him saying slightly weird things, sounding like a Hallmark movie or a romance book; this felt... off.

"[Name], I... these last few months I've been." Klaus couldn't figure out a focal point, "With everything going on that is... I, I think I've fallen for you. It feels so strange. I still love [Wife], please don't think I'd ever forget her. But I... I can't help but feel as if--"

He fell silent when your hand rested on his, finally looking you in the eye. The nervous thumping of his heart slowed, breathing somehow became easier.

"I didn't want..." You tried to figure out how to phrase this, pausing wasn't helping though, "I never had the intention of overstepping. I know I could never take [Friend]'s place. But I do feel the same way towards you. It wasn't on purpose..."

His large hands encompassed yours, "[Name], I've never thought you were overstepping boundaries. I truly appreciated you being here. And I never thought I could move on, it... it feels so..."

"Weird."

Klaus nodded, gently rubbing his thumb across the back of your hands. This wasn't a normal situation though. The two of you had spent the better part of a year getting closer, unintentionally falling for one another. Stuck in such a bizarre pressure cooker situation and being there for such a vulnerable time, maybe this had been something planned...

"May... may I kiss you?"

Nodding slowly, you felt an odd tingle of mixed emotions. Leaning into a soft, open palm as Klaus cupped your cheek. It felt like it was taking forever, but the way you were being kissed was oh-so-tender. Both melting at how right it felt after all this time.

Wendip Week 2022-Will You?

Dipper and Wendy finally get married. 

Written for @wendip-week

The ceremony started. Dipper stood at the altar. Mayor Cutebiker himself was officiator. Beside Dipper was his best man and five year old son, Tyrone, Soos, and two of Dipper’s friends from college.

On the other side of the altar was their daughter and Maid of Honor Rose, Mabel, Tambry, Pacifica, and Wendy’s little sister Gwen.

The wedding march music started play as Manly Dan guided his daughter down the aisle. She was in a stunning white tux, her hair done up in a classic bun, her vale covering her face. Several of the older members of the families looked upset about the lack of a wedding dress. Wendy’s Nana especially looked like her head was going to explode.

Wendy walked up and took her place in front of Dipper. She held his hands.

Cutebiker said the traditional vows. Dipper and Wendy did not want to subject their friends to original vows. “Do you, Mason Pines, take Wendy Corduroy as your lawful wedded wife?”

“There was a lump in Dipper’s throat. “I do.”

“And do you Wendy Corduroy, take Mason Pines as your lawful wedded husband?”

“I do.”

“Then with the power invested in me by the people of Gravity Falls and the state of Oregon. I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Dipper lifted the veil and was greeted with his wifes beautiful face. She pulled him in and kissed him. Stan was in the crowd, crying so hard, Ford next to him. The newlyweds ran down the aisle to the limo that Stan stole earlier.

What You Never Knew About Fooly Falls (part of it just being stuff I just came up with)

Ian Ramirez gets his name from Ian Worrel, art director of Gravity Falls.

Jorgé's real name is Joseph, but everyone calls him Jorgé because that's what Pacifica called Soos back in the day.

The idea of Soos and Melody having seven kids came from the Mabel's Guide to Dating short, where Soos says he'd ideally have seven kids for each day of the week to love.

For the epilogue scene of Ride on Shooting Star, Stan Jr. is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki, Adam Park, Izaya Orihara, Giyu Tomioka, Lelouch vi Britannia, Rossiu Adai) and Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado, Ken Kaneki, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Cuphead, Tai Yagami, 9S), while the older version of Abby is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard (Erza Scarlet, Monkey D. Luffy, Princess Hibana, Marie Mjolnir, Riza Hawkeye, Momo Yaoyorozu) and Nana Mizuki (Ann Takamaki, Hinata Hyuga, Tamao Tamamura, Lan Fan, Michella Watch, Cheelai, Sana Sunomiya).

At some point prior to the beginning of Fooly Falls 2, Waddles unfortunately passed away from old age. He lived a pretty long life too, so Mabel made sure her precious piggy would be forever immortalized in a stuffed pig she made for Tyrone, which is where Waddles II came from.

I recently learned that according to Alex Hirsch in 2020, the 45th President of the United States in Gravity Falls was Old Man McGucket. Thus, I shall retcon my Donald Trump joke to be that Trump still became president after McGucket and Joe Biden but before Maki Kitaki, making him president between 2025 and 2029.

Dipper and Pacifica maintained a stable romance with each other throughout their teenage years until they were 18 years old, when Pacifica realized that Dipper still held a torch for Wendy and didn't hold it against him. Besides, she planned on dating Mabel just in case.

Ezra Chiu was the product of Candy experimenting on an anonymous sperm donation to effectively create her own super-soldier, as I revealed in A FLCL Christmas in Gravity Falls.

As I implied in Ride on Shooting Star, Haruko came from a broken home on her dystopian home planet of Wasprus, but it wasn't always that way. Wasprus was yet another planet enslaved by Medical Mechanica to do their bidding, and Haruko's mother Rihanna Raharu led the resistance against the company's top brass to free their home planet from MM's tyranny. Unfortunately, the rebellion failed and Rihanna was later killed by her drunken husband Reagan. All of this shall be further elaborated upon in Rick and Haruko.

Speaking of which, when Haruko was saved from Wasprus's destruction by Atomsk thanks to the timely intervention of Rick Sanchez, back when he was a member of the Flesh Curtains alongside Birdperson and Squanchy, that was when Haruko's obsession with Atomsk began developing. This, combined with Rick being as bad an influence on her as he would eventually become with Morty, would cause Haruko to betray Rick during an undercover mission as an officer of the Galactic Space Patrol Brotherhood. In the process, a Naked Focal Point sucks Haruko up and drops her off in Gravity Falls, where she would meet a younger version of Commander Amarao. The rest will be revealed soon.

Gwen is a skilled golf player, no doubt she was trained by her aunts Mabel and Pacifica, and also plays tennis with Arnold. She also shares her father's love of BABBA and has caught him singing Disco Girl only to start singing with him.

Much like Wendy before her, Leia also has her own friend group of rambunctious teenagers. We got Robbie V and Tambry's twin daughters Robin & Roxie Valentino, who are cheerleaders at Gravity Falls High School and the polar opposites of their parents, Clayton, a terse and aloof but easygoing cowboy-looking fellow, and Johnny, who is kind of the Thompson of the group except he has a bit more of a spine. Ezra fills the Robbie role of the group. Speaking of which.....

Tyrone and Ezra do not compete over Leia's feelings the same way Dipper and Robbie did over Wendy, I am too focused on wholesome found family dynamics to even consider a love triangle. Instead, I implied that Tyrone is Ezra's ultimate wingman.

In the era of the Fooly Falls 2 epilogue, Ford would eventually die of a heart attack at, you guessed it, 92 years old in 2045, just like Bill predicted. However, just like Stan, death isn't enough to keep Ford down and he lives on as a ghost watching over the other Pines.

Around that time, Abby would start taking home a few gold medals in high school gymnastics, while Stan Jr. would befriend a lonely & sullen boy named Masaki Aofuji, who claims he can see strange ghost-like creatures when no one else can. Junior believes him though since this is Gravity Falls we're talking about, and also relates to Masaki since he feels like he hasn't found what makes him special yet unlike his older siblings. However, things would soon change when Junior, Abby, and Masaki are taken by Harumi Araisho to the mysterious Tsuganei Tower to try and blow it up, prompting Tsukata Kanda to contact Dipper to stop their plans while a certain three-sided scourge of Gravity Falls plots to use Tsuganei Tower as a tool for revenge. (possible hints towards a FLCL Shoegaze adaptation starring Stan Jr. and Abby intensify)

Preston Northwest ultimately didn't care that Pacifica was marrying a girl, but he did take issue with the fact that she was marrying Mabel, whom Pacifica made life a living hell for, out of every girl in Gravity Falls. Pacifica didn't care however, since she had already cut most of her family out of her life aside from a few cousins she was neutral towards.

There is at least one autistic person among the next-gen characters, I just haven't really narrowed down who it could be. On one hand, Ezra gets incredibly flustered with Leia's advances on him and tries to hide it, but on the other hand, Gwen had trouble socializing or feeling anything for much of her life and even when she started feeling emotions again after getting rid of her old hat, she was still a lot more reserved than her brother and cousin. Or it's both of them. Yeah, it's both of them.

Speaking of Gwen, for the first few weeks after abandoning her hat and accepting her emotions, she was very physically affectionate with everyone. She hugged her family and friends so much, Tyrone started keeping track of how often Gwen gave hugs to feel the warmth she was robbed of for five years of her life. The highest he got was 618 before Gwen decided she gave enough hugs.

Much like how Mabel had Candy and Grenda as her people, Tyrone also has his own plucky duo of friends. They are Matthew, a boy genius who is never seen without a set of mechanical octopus arms sticking out of his backpack, and Joanie, a very masculine boy with a feminine voice.

During his adventures beyond the portal, Ford has made many powerful enemies and allies over the years. He engaged in a game of wits with Makima, had run-ins with the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Tenth Doctors, met Metron and sat in the Mobius Chair, resisted making a deal with Alastor, and many more.

Tyrone and Leia are gym buddies. They also got Haruko to come with them a few times.

While Gwen has more self-confidence than her father did at her age, there are still times where she gets pretty awkward. She gets the most nervous around a boy her age named Damian that she has a crush on.

Juan and Jorge are banned from playing dating simulators that could potentially become sentient and super-possessive of the player. Soos knows exactly how that feels from personal experience, though he was happy that was what allowed him to meet Melody.

During Haruko and Jinyu's travels, they ran into Commander Amarao at least once. Naturally, Amarao tried to resist admitting he still held a torch for Haruko and was super jealous of Dipper for managing to patch things up with her.

And finally, Stan Jr's legal name is Stanley Junior Ramirez. The name also came from a line in Not What He Seems when Soos is guarding the vending machine.
