Par l'action bien intentionnelle relier le nord et le sud par le ferroviaire, oui j'ai bien dit, une approche qui se veut réaliste et les conditions politiques un jour réunies, la ligne Glasgow Basra via Belgrade, Stockholm Basra via Belgrade noeud ferroviaire d'interconnexion pour relier les mers froides d'Artique aux mers chaudes indo-pacifique.

Mais avant d'y parvenir, relier les rives nord de la Méditerranée avec ses rives sud, car de berceau de l'humanité appelée à être le véritable pivot de cet humanité entre nord et sud, est et ouest !

Il faut faire la Paix entre les églises, c'est à dire entre religions du Septentrion et du Midi de la terre.

C'est la fraternité qui nous mènera vers la liberté !

listening to bollywood music always gets me thinking abt the desi pines au again... so here is some more information

- scary-oke happens except instead of taking over midnight they sing some cheesy bollywood song instead. thinking something like gallan goodiyaan or disco deewane. OH OR GIRLS LIKE TO SWING... (Also yes they do the hooksteps. i have spent an ungodly amount of time imagining them doing the hooksteps)

- stan is a huge movie buff btw. he doesn't talk much about it but he lovesss sappy bollywood movies and those shitty (affectionate) hindi tv serials... the duchess approved gets replaced with one of those. which i think is fair because they dramatize everything to the same degree lmao

- thinking also about voiceclaims for the stan twins. i imagine the star twins would sound the same because despite their cultural background, they were still brought up in cali and developed accents accordingly. the stan twins tho were raised in mumbai so. have to rethink how they sound because i cannot for the life of me imagine stan speaking hindi in his regular new jersey accent. (he would definitely still have some aspects of the NJ accent because filbrick is still a new jerseyite, but still)

- speaking of religion, caryn is hindu and raises the boys as such. not particularly devout or spiritual, being a fake psychic (and astrologer in this au) and all, but she teaches the boys about the mythology and the traditions. filbrick is also still jewish, and the family celebrates events from both religions. lucky bastards get hanukkah right after diwali /j. present day ford and stan are atheists, but still celebrate the festivals and whatnot for the hell of it

- i am aware that irl, in both judaism and hinduism there are Differing Opinions about interfaith marriage to this day; however this is fiction so i am choosing to imagine it's not that much of an issue. maybe people are just kinda less bigoted, or maybe they were and maybe caryn and filbrick honestly just don't give a fuck. idk. it's not a main focus point of my au so i am choosing not to dedicate Too much thought to it

- instead of "poindexter" which is primarily an american slang nickname, stan calls ford "chashmesh" which is a hindi nickname for someone who wears glasses. he still calls him this when both of them wear glasses in their old age because he's petty. it annoys ford even more every time he does it WHDJSNEJD

- he also still calls him "sixer" which is funny because despite cricket being such a popular sport in india, they both probs suck ass at cricket and have never hit a six(er) in their lives lmao

- once stan and ford reconcile they quickly realize they can talk absolute shit about people in hindi and nobody here will have a clue what they're talking about

Some Amit Thakkar Headcanons

Since Amit is getting some much appreciated love, I decided to share some headcanons about him. Please note I really tried to research as much as I could about India, looking up as much as I could and talking to some of my colleagues who come from varying parts of India, but if I do get some things wrong, please let me know!

He is Gujarati ( Solely based on the surname Thakkar, which is commonly found in the Gujarat state in India)

Amit Thakkar is not his full name ( If we are following the naming system of the Gujarati, it would be his given name, his father's name and his surname in that order. We are missing his father's name.)

He's an Aries ( Again, if we are following the Gurajati naming traditions, his given name, Amit would respond to his Rashi, the Indian Horoscope. Amit responds to the sign Mesha, which Aries is the equivalent)

His family is wealthy and highly educated, and were able to send him to Hogwarts due to their ties to the British Raj. (New telescope aside, a clue lies within the surname. Thakkar is also a common surname found among the Lohana 'Jati' people of Western India where Gujarat is, are famed for being traders. Some of the Lohanas who manage to get an education worked for the British Raj. It is a long history, but this is as best as I can sum it up.)

He is shaken from his first adventure, but secretly he wants more. (Again, we are going back to the Thakkar surname, where it is said they are from the Kshatriya caste which is tied to warrior aristocracy. I like to believe he still got some of that in him, otherwise he wouldn't willingly enter a goblin mine)

He loves astrology as it is closely tied to his Hindu religion. (Thakkar as a surname is closely tied to Hinduism, where astrology is found under the Jyotisha, one of the six auxiliary disciplines of Hinduism, mainly used for time keeping.)

He has family in Colonial India and Africa. (Again back to the Thakkar surname, there were many Thakkars who migrated to the British African colonies like Uganda for example)

He is a polygot. (Ok this might be a bit of a stretch, but I'm just basing it around his family being traders and highly educated. India has plenty of languages, so it wouldn't surprise me if Amit had to learn Hindi, Gujarati, and English to get by, yet he still has time to learn Gobbledegook.)

Palace of Illusions

Oh lord!! It was a very heavy read for me!!The way I cried in the last chapter............. I'm afraid I might spoil.

Last night i decided today I'll end this book, I was determined. I've been reading it since last year September, (yes I'm a very slow reader.) But there were times when the book seemed very depressing to me. I related to Panchali on so many things. Many things that happened in this book went opposite to how I'm told since childhood. Stories about Pandava brothers, about kunti, about drupad and about panchali herself. Maybe because I'm new to this, maybe because I was never really interested in learning of any religion because I thought it stripes us away from our freedom. Idk a lot about my religion or culture and tho I'm learning slowly since at first it was very difficult to trust sites or videos of things and who's speaking of truth. (I'm getting into it with the pace of a sloth.) But well there's progress. I've seen enough drama or heard enough stories to know the main events but after being questioned and humiliated many times for how and why I didn't know English, i decided that, that English held more weight than My own mother tongue! It was definitely beneficial since I was not considered dumb anymore, i could read varied range of books and much more. And I think i became a bit dumb because now my Hindi is very weak.🥹

(Anyways back to the topic)

I've said it many times now but I'll say it again it was verrrryyy different to how I've heard about Mahabharata. And I'll have to go through many of our translated scriptures to know how much I can trust this book but despite everything I loved it, despite the depression it just gave me upon finishing it!

I cried in the last chapter, when it's the end of our MC draupadi, she's slowly withering away looking back on her life and maybe regretting it maybe thinking what was it all for? And suddenly she can hear Krishna from somewhere close. I cried exactly here. (I've said it millions times already actually) Krishna came to comfort her, when she was all alone, in her last moments. And it is definitely fictional because of the few lines. Phew. If I had the physical copy I'd have thrown it across the room, then pick it up and put it back. It was 365 pages of depression. I'm feeling very awkward as to how to describe the characters in here since I'm always told to respect them all. Anyways I finished it around 2:30 am, was sobbing like crazy. Phew i don't cry like that often. 😄i need a happy book now!!

BIOGRAPHY -

Once during sixth form, Bodhi had read the then already old book Brighton Rock by Graham Greene, and realised how familiar the situation sounded. The book was about some kid from Brighton, where he was from too, who was trying to set his name in stone through a scheme and take over the gang in his city. This kid wanted to be the leader of the Brighton Maffia, and he was only seventeen years old.

Bodhi didn’t have the same hopes and dreams as the unfortunate main character of Brighton Rock, at least not at first, but he knew it would only take time before the same passion and wit was expected from him. Because his father had once been like Pinkie Brown, and the criminal underworld answered only to him. His daughter, Bodhi’s younger sister, had a neck for planning, while Bodhi desperately tried to keep up, sometimes stealing his sister’s ideas so his father would give him a pat on the back instead of her. That seemed to be the one thing to drive him forward: the wish to please his father.

And in that sense he was very different from Pinkie Brown. However, he was just as doomed as the titular character.

During one of his attempts to stride off with his sister’s plans, he got caught in his father’s web. The man wasn’t known to care much about his children, or his friends, or his wife. In order to get what he was owned, he would go through fire. When someone sought to retaliate for a decision made by his son, he gave up Bodhi, delivered him into his enemy’s hands and told them: “kill the one who did you wrong.”

Bodhi didn’t die, but that was only by luck. He spent a couple of weeks in a hospital in London, pretending to have amnesia, and eventually was released to the state. He didn’t have a wallet on him, nor had he ever been arrested and placed in the system - courtesy of his father. Meaning if he wanted to start over, this was his best option.

He built up his life all over again, starting from scratch, tiptoeing around the minefield as he tried to keep his real identity hidden till he could work on top of his new one. He refrained from getting into contact with his sister, he completely stayed away from Brighton, but he did make his way back into the criminal underworld. Just not as a criminal himself, but as a PI. Given his insights in the cooperation his father managed, he gave some great tips to the police, and got more work from there.

When someone from London wanted him to look into suspicious disappearances at Maidenhead, Bodhi had never concerned himself with the existence of Supernatural beings. But the situation there led him to believe otherwise. And from then on, he was more careful with the jobs he accepted. Till the most recent one led him to Fenrir’s Wood.

your post about eugenics and bio essentialism in magic is really good! something i found out recently is that its not even exclusively neopagan religions doing it its new religious movements too like filianism/déanism. they fall into the “all goddesses are the mother goddess/counteract masculine energy with feminine energy to heal the world” and stereotypes about woman being inherently nurturing. they do the whole divine feminine thing except the believe only divine feminine exists and masculine is just a corruption (which they call ‘feminine essentialism’), have angels with hindi names, their own bible written in the 70s and a jesus but as a girl figure and appropriating the virgin mary figure as a goddess. unsurprisingly the community is full of terfs. they dont call themselves pagan but this kind of essentialist stuff is so damn prolific it makes learning about new religions a real pain. at least it didnt meet the eugenics quota i guess

Yeah, this kind of thinking is so damn prevalent, and very easy to fall into if you don't know what to watch out for.
