So, as I’m sure a lot of the community knows at the moment, my friend Dev’s laptop broke leaving them unable to gif and work on their commissions which is a really important source of income for them. To help mitigate the damage caused by this, I’ve decided to re-release my Katherine McNamara packs as paid packs, with a couple extra new gifs I never released as well. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to Dev, so hopefully this helps a bit. Thinking of that scene where Caroline is discussing with Alaric about how Lizzie and Josie can siphon the Hollow out of Klaus, and he asks why they couldn’t just get Bonnie to do it instead of their teenage daughters, and her saying that it’s not something Bonnie can do, only their daughters can. Which is so hilarious because if Kat stayed on the franchise and agreed to return, the writers would have had Caroline and/or Alaric pleading for her help. Kat wasn’t coming back to the franchise so ofc out of pettiness they wrote Bonnie incapable and not being able to do something to prop up other characters.

Julie and Co had to throw in shade with the “What about Bonnie? —It’s not something Bonnie can do” lines bc they were petty about how the woman they mistreated didn’t want to be apart of their other projects, and had to make sly jabs at Bonnie whenever they could to get their kicks. And it’s obviously shade bc you expect me to believe that Bonnie, someone who has wielded all forms of magic, couldn’t use a simple spell to transfer a source of magic into another place?

Not to mention them leaving her out of the Legacies musical and only stating how she was a good friend is another example of their hatred and pettiness towards Kat and Bonnie. Basically trying to insinuate that she wasn’t important to the story, even though if it wasn’t for her, most of these characters wouldn’t be alive.

Being a photographer always had it’s ups and downs. You loved what you did and the creative initiative you had with it, but it wasn’t the most stable job in the world. Most of the time you had to work part time in cafes, restaurants or supermarkets to help keep up with the bills.

To say you were excited would be an understatement, even saying you were over the moon would’ve been. The clients name was Joseph Quinn. You heard his name flying around social media lately, knowing he was up and coming in the acting scene based on his work on the latest season of Stranger Things.

You packed your equipment and a few days worth of clothes. The shoot was only for a couple hours, but you lived a few hours away from London so you decided to make a small trip out of it and maybe go visit some old friends who had moved down there.

You check into your hotel, and pull out your laptop, going over all the details for tomorrow in your email. The excitement was definitely there, but the closer tomorrow got, the more anxious you became. You thought it might just be best for you to make some tea, pop on some netflix, and try to go to sleep.

The morning greeted you with a soft whisper of light through the window as you get ready, trying to look as professional as possible without looking like you’re trying too hard. You hop on the train, camera bag in hand, leg shaking involuntarily. You know that if this goes well it could be really big for you, and that’s the main source of your anxiety.

You watched Stranger Things, but didn’t know a ton about Joseph. Just that he was the hot new piece of meat in hollywood right now. She leaves you to get set up while she runs off to check on Joe.

His team provided you with a lot, so your set up didn’t take too long. About 20 minutes later you hear some chattering voices walking on to the set. Feeling a hand taking place in the middle of your back, you turn around.

“Hi, nice to meet you, i’m Joe.” Oh.My.Fucking.God. Was this man crafted by God himself? He looked different from his character on Stranger Things. Older. Bigger. Stronger. You could feel the heat rushing in your cheeks, and knew it was visible to anyone with a pair of eyeballs.

You walk up to his room, wondering what on earth he would want to see you for, thinking about everything that you could’ve possibly done wrong. You knock before opening the door slightly, “Hey Joe, Melissa told me you want to see me?”

Launched during the pandemic with a playbook to shoot $150 million-plus seasons with no pilots, the Disney unit is undergoing growing pains and seeing the logic of "traditional TV culture."

Through it all, the company eschewed the traditional TV-making model. It didn’t commission pilots but instead shot entire $150 million-plus seasons of TV on the fly. It didn’t hire showrunners, but instead depended on film executives to run its series. And as Marvel does for its movies, it relied on postproduction and reshoots to fix what wasn’t working.

Even though they remain, along with Star Wars titles, the most watched shows on Disney+, Marvel series have recently faced a number of creative challenges and cries of diminishing returns from critics and audience metrics, causing a major shift at the studio to move to make TV shows the more traditional way.

“We’re trying to marry the Marvel culture with the traditional television culture,” says Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, television and animation. “It comes down to, ‘How can we tell stories in television that honor what’s so great about the source material?’”

With Daredevil’s new direction, Marvel hopes to right the ship on a project with sky-high expectations. The show is Marvel’s first to feature a hero who already had a successful series on Netflix, running three seasons. But sources say that Corman and Ord crafted a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence. Cox didn’t even show up in costume until the fourth episode. Marvel, after greenlighting the concept, found itself needing to rethink the original intention of the show.

Marvel plans to keep some scenes and episodes, though other serialized elements will be injected, with Corman and Ord becoming executive producers on the two-season series.

Daredevil is far from the first Marvel series to undergo drastic behind-the-scenes changes. Those who work with Marvel on the TV side have complained of a lack of central vision that has, according to sources, begun to afflict the studio’s shows with creative differences and tension. “TV is a writer-driven medium,” says one insider familiar with the Marvel process. “Marvel is a Marvel-driven medium.”

On the Oscar Isaac starrer Moon Knight, show creator and writer Jeremy Slater quit and director Mohamed Diab took the reins. Jessica Gao developed and wrote She-Hulk: Attorney at Law but was sidelined once director Kat Coiro came on board. Production was challenging, with COVID hitting cast and crew, and Gao was brought back to oversee postproduction, a typical showrunner duty, but it’s the rare Marvel head writer who has such oversight.

Even though the company does not have a writers-first approach to TV, directors could feel short-changed as well. “The whole ‘fix it in post’ attitude makes it feel like a director doesn’t matter sometimes,” says one person familiar with the process.

As its shows ramped up during the pandemic, Marvel stepped outside its usual staffing approach and brought in outside execs after years of internally promoting creatives who had been sufficiently trained in the Marvel method.

This change was felt most severely on Secret Invasion, the Samuel L. Jackson-led thriller that stands as Marvel’s worst-reviewed series. Kyle Bradstreet, a writer and executive producer on USA Network Emmy winner Mr. Robot, had been working on the scripts for Secret Invasion for about a year when he was fired after Marvel decided on a different direction. Enter new writer Brian Tucker, who penned the crime thriller Broken City. Thomas Bezucha, who helmed the thriller Let Him Go, and Ali Selim, who worked on Hulu’s 9/11 drama The Looming Tower, were on board as directors and to help crack the story.

samantha simpson was born to an average family in the late 90s, a family that consisted of just her and her parents. it really was average, painfully so, but she considered herself lucky. after all, sam wanted for nothing and all she had to do in return was be a good daughter, which came easily to her. she was polite, disciplined and always at the top of her class, a straight A student by all definitions. it never made her popular with the other kids, especially throughout her childhood.

though she was always happy to talk to other students and partake in group projects (that usually ended up with sam doing most of the work), she never really had any friends — until clover and alex came along. by the time high school came around, the three were as thick as thieves. they didn't always get along but no argument was so serious that it couldn't be fixed. so when sam realized she wasn't the only one who'd made it to evermore, her relief was immediate.

despite her strong moral compass and noble personality, sam can be a huge hypocrite at times. being the trio's mom friend, she likes to believe she knows better than clover and alex when it comes to virtually everything, even stuff outside of her realm of expertise. obviously that isn't always the case, yet she still struggles with admitting to being wrong at times. it's embarrassing to her, almost as embarrassing as blanking out during an exam.

while her wardrobe isn't as massive as clove's, it is pretty huge and mostly consists of greens, blues and floral prints. as a lover of fashion as a form of self expression and creative outlet, she's a huge advocate for making it sustainable and less harmful to the environment, and is very much against fast fashion brands and how quickly trends seem to change these days. she's much more into finding what you like and sticking with it.

probably has an entire library for brains. sam feels there's nothing more embarrassing than finding yourself in a conversation and having nothing to say about the topic, so she's made an effort to educate herself in basically everything from pop culture to niche things that somehow align with her personal interests. she's really always looking to talk about, well, anything.

thinks she's so above the girls (especially clover) for not putting her love life before all else but honestly, that isn't always the case. when she falls, she falls hard, but it hasn't really happened many times in sam's life and most recently, it hurt her pretty bad. she's much more career oriented, determined to be her own source of happiness but it does get a little lonely sometimes. it would be nice to have someone to grow old with who isn't alex or clover.

she loves her job at the lab! literally the highlight of her days. deep down, sam is hoping to be the inventor of something that will change history someday, but for now she's pretty content with what she's got.

firm believer of the whole 'healthy body, healthy mind' thing. she exercises everyday whether by working out early in the morning or going for a run, it's her way of destressing and keeping herself sane other than cleaning. she's also very big on meditation and likes to listen to podcasts while running.

sam is a polyglot! she literally learns new languages for fun, it's a whole thing.

The Evolution of Warriors Fan Projects

Warriors fans have created all kinds of projects as tribute to the series, but the most well-known and perhaps the most impressive of projects are the animations. Warriors has always had a very prolific community on YouTube, creating shorts, animation, music videos, edits, and more. Unlike many other large fandoms on the internet, Warriors has no film component; there were never any movies made about the books, so all video content on the series was completely handmade, using either original artwork or other fan arts edited together.

The trends of animation and fanmade video content created by the Warriors fandom have changed drastically over time, and I wanted to go digging for some of these old videos and compare them to the content that is being made now. The evolution of animations from the community is incredible, and with so many of the original videos still available to be viewed on YouTube, a timeline can be tracked of the trends of Warriors fan animations. The best way to see the growth of the fandom is to experience it firsthand, through the projects produced over the 20s since it began.

The first Warriors book was published in 2003, and Warriors fan videos began to appear in the early 2000s. Videos began to pop up under all different channels. Creators such as Alli Kat, Wyeth Cat, DuckFeatherz, Flightfootwarrior, DarkKokiri, tribbleofdoom, bluekyokitty, moonlightnebula, and more quickly began to make a name for themselves creating AMVs (or Animated Music Videos). The early days of Warriors fan animations were also full of meme videos, such as the ever-famous (or infamous) Firestar Doesn't Like Waffles.

Meme creators made names for themselves in the community at the time, too. Creators like Mama Tad made a place for themselves in the animation community creating almost exclusively meme and comedy animations, creating gems such as Cloudpaw Joins ThunderClan.

Early Warriors had a certain charm that can be attributed to three main factors: they were created by amateur artists and animators, many of whom were still children (as the source material of Warriors intended for its audience), they were created in the internet culture of the 2000s, and they were created by fans who all shared enough love for this series to dedicate so much of their time to a fan project. The quality of these videos (the video quality itself) is a product of a young fan using any resources they can find to create something. Even in the early days of the Fandom, the animations stood out as one of the most loved aspects.

Another prominent period in the timeline of Warriors animations was trying to create exactly what we did not have: a Warriors movie. These days, this trend has died off significantly (though there is still one major project in the works currently: WCAnimated. More on this later.), but several years ago, numerous animators attempted it. The most famous is the SSS Warrior Cats Fan Animation series, utilizing an iconic anime-adjacent style and lasting an impressive eight videos and over an hour of animation, but it was far from the only one. Tribbleofdoom had an Into the Wild series that lasted at least 48 episodes, though many of these have been taken down and are no longer available to view. Aluriya, one of the animators who worked on SSS Warrior Cats, made about an episode and a half of Bluestar's Prophecy. Nifty-Senpai animated a few episodes of OotS: The Fourth Apprentice, giving the project numerous attempts throughout the years. Fluffy Lovey animated several episodes of Fire and Ice. There was a period of time where it seemed almost all of the prominent animators were trying to create the Warriors “film” that we still don’t have.

Some animators also created their own animated Warriors universes, following the worldbuilding of the books and animating their own original characters. Urnam7’s series Dimstar's Past was one such project. Icerift Fyera created another, called AuroraClan.

These projects all have a similar feel to them. They are passion projects of an individual person, often a younger person, or a very small team, following a few different artistic trends (heavily cartoon and simplistic, a more anime-like style, the style of 2000/2010s sparkle cats, and adjacent similar styles). They were loved at the time, they are nostalgic for many now, and most of them fit fairly neatly into the box of “old warriors videos aesthetic.”

The Warriors fandom these days has moved away from projects like these a little bit. AMVs, while still a common occurrence, are not so much the go-to form of content creation any longer. Individual projects, in fact, are less commonly seen. Instead, the fandom has turned more towards collaborative projects, containing a large number of animators rather than small, contained teams or individual animators working on their own. MAPs (Multi-Animator Projects) have been a form of animation projects produced here for years, but the community has continued since then to hone the craft of a collaborative project like these; MAPs are now one of the most beloved and most utilized formats currently in use. Early MAPs (such as This Love, This Hate, Alone Without You, Little Talks, and more) often had no script, no set designs, and no real direction. Each part became its own mini animation, standalone except for their arrangement to the same song.

This, largely, has also changed in recent years. Many MAPs now attempt to tell a coherent story throughout. It is generally less common to find an unscripted MAP, or a MAP that does not have set designs to use for its main characters.

The result of this? The most professional-looking and cohesive projects the Warriors fandom has seen to date. Many of these newer MAPs are genuine cinematic marvels, especially knowing the context of their creation: they were all made on volunteered time, with volunteered effort, by a community of largely amateur and hobbyist artists and animators.

There are far too many of these MAPs to talk about them all, but here are a few that I found most impressive, and that made some of the biggest waves in the community:

As a community, the Warriors fandom has grown and learned an enormous amount. It is not uncommon to see animations that are a similar caliber of quality to a professional. Ideas and advice are shared between users, and many creators such as Nifty-Senpai and Gekkozilla have allowed others to use their designs for free as inspiration or directly in fan projects. The collaborative nature of the Warriors Fandom now is a remarkable achievement, and has yielded so many incredible projects, animations, and stories that to tally them all up would be an impossible task.

A lot of my fics seem to start with a line of dialogue but I think I’m getting better at starting with a description!

There are several Angela Ledore fics here and Janice/Melina fics, as there should be. I really need to write a fic where Janice is happily dating another lady after she’s recovered from Melina’s death.

It’s not all just Professor Layton— there are some She Ra and three My Hero Academia fics… all starring Mirio, sunshine blorbo :’)

And two Owl House fics, both starring Gus!

Two of these fics contain lines of dialogue taken from the original source material, due to AU/dream scenario.

Two others contain scenarios when the narrator receives an urgent call. Bronev asks Swift to check on little Emmy. Melina asks Janice to take her pet poodle to the dog groomers’. (Melina’s priorities are on point!)

Also a lot of these fics seem to contain a usually cheerful, optimistic character suffering from angst because I like angst, I guess

*Just a small note, I refuse to do any of the other male characters other than Fezco. He’s the only male character in the show that will get a full MBTI profile. This is mostly because of how much trauma I received from the story lines of the other male characters and their violence against women in the show…along with the fact that the rest of the men in the show aren’t deep characters…they’re just extremely problematic. Also because Fezco has more development compared to the rest of them if you actually think about it. I will however go into how problematic some of the story is in the future, in regards to certain representation and how especially this show has become worse with the release of the second season and how its presented that representation to me at least (I hope some people will understand what I’m trying to get at once I post it) Anyways, these are the only Euphoria characters I’ll be doing full length profiles for. Maybe I’ll consider just doing a Nate Jacobs profile in the future?…because somehow I still think his perspective is important even if he is a problematic character. I can do Ethan and McKay and Elliot but I just feel like they haven’t been in the show as much?? For now at least, it’s just going to be these characters. Sorry not sorry.
