location: scotty's apartment ;; later at the range.
when: sometime at night
status: closed
for: @thedogofwar
It had been a long fucking day. A long day and Scotty was tired. He was so God damn tired. Tired of the fight. Tired of the exhaustion his whole entire body had felt. Though here he was, fighting. The man was currently on leave, and Scotty had no idea on when the hell he was going back. The force was all he knew. Was all he had. But now, now things were different and have been different since the Sargent had entered this God forsaken town. The forty - eight year old had finished doing his errands, and sure it was late at night but Scotty knew he wasn't going to be able to sleep. When he couldn't sleep? The Gun range or the Boxing ring was where he headed but tonight, tonight Scotty wanted the Gun range. He had his cell phone placed between his ear and shoulder, telling Garrett to meet him there instead of their usual spot. "Look, I'm exhausted but I need to hit the range. Haven't in a long time. You up for it?" Scotty questioned, getting his gun from his belt loop and clicking the barrel to make sure it's not loaded yet. Taking a deep breath, Scotty held the gun and phone at the same time "Unless you want to get a drink or somethin? But I think the gun range is our best bet. Itll be like old times, in Brooklyn man. You down?"

LUCY PLAYS COPS AND ROBBERS
S6;E14 ~ December 31, 1973
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Directed by Coby Ruskin ~ Written by Bob Carroll Jr. and Madelyn Davis
Synopsis
Lucy forms a neighborhood watch group and starts seeing criminals where there are none.  After several false alarms to the local police, a real burglar actually shows up!
Tumblr media
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carter), Gale Gordon (Harrison Otis Carter), Lucie Arnaz (Kim Carter)
Guest Cast
Tumblr media
Mary Jane Croft (Mary Jane) played Betty Ramsey during season six of “I Love Lucy. ” She also played Cynthia Harcourt in “Lucy is Envious” (ILL S3;E23) and Evelyn Bigsby in “Return Home from Europe” (ILL S5;E26). She played Audrey Simmons on “The Lucy Show” but when Lucy Carmichael moved to California, she played Mary Jane Lewis, the actor’s married name and the same one she uses on all 31 of her episodes of “Here’s Lucy. Her final acting credit was playing Midge Bowser on “Lucy Calls the President” (1977). She died in 1999 at the age of 83.
Tumblr media
Mary Wickes (Violet Barker) was one of Lucille Ball’s closest friends and at one time, a neighbor. She made a memorable appearances on “I Love Lucy” as ballet mistress Madame Lamond in “The Ballet” (ILL S1;E19). In her initial “Lucy Show” appearances her characters name was Frances, but she then made four more as a variety of characters for a total of 8 episodes. This is one of her 9 appearances on “Here’s Lucy.” Their final collaboration on screen was “Lucy Calls the President” in 1977.
Al Lewis (Lionel Barker) is remembered to this day as Grandpa (aka Count Dracula) on TV’s “The Munsters” (1964-66), a show that aired concurrently with “The Lucy Show.” Prior to that he played Officer Schnauzer (also opposite Fred Gwynn) in “Car 54, Where Are You?”
The Barker’s daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Fred live in San Francisco and are expecting a baby.
Tumblr media
Dick Sargent (Officer Spencer, left) had just finished up playing Darrin Stephens on “Bewitched” when he filmed this episode. Sargent was the second actor to play the role, replacing Dick York in 1969. Sargent continued to act on television until his death in 1994 at age 64.
Sargent’s “Bewitched” clout earns him “Guest Star” status in the final credits.
Gary Crosby (Officer Riggs, right) was the son of crooner Bing Crosby. Like his father he was both an actor and a singer. This is his only appearance with Lucille Ball. He died in 1995 at age 62.
Tumblr media
Gino Conforti (Burglar) began his TV acting career in 1968 and has been continually working since, although mostly as one-off characters. He had a recurring role as Felipe on “Three’s Company” from 1980 to 1982, a series Lucille Ball admired. This is his first time acting with Ball, but he will also be seen in Lucy’s two teleplays “Lucy Gets Lucky” and “Three for Two” both in 1975.
Tumblr media
Shirley Anthony (Mrs. Shackleford, behind sofa, uncredited) makes the ninth of her 13 appearances of “Here’s Lucy.”
Mrs. Shackleford has a brother who lives in Berkeley.
Eddie Garrett (Mr. Shackleford, standing, uncredited) is probably best remembered for playing Ed, the crime photographer on “Quincy M.E.” from 1976 to 1983. This is his final episode of “Here’s Lucy.”
Anthony and Garrett are the only cast members not involved in the chaotic ending of the episode.
Tumblr media
Although season 6 is now more than a dozen episodes old, this installment was meant to be aired first. Instead, it originally aired on New Year’s Eve 1973 and (naturally) was the last new episode of the calendar year. The show’s only competition that night was the annual Sugar Bowl Game on ABC. Some sources, including the series DVD, incorrectly list the original air date of this episode as November 26, 1973.
Tumblr media
Although airing on New Year’s Eve, the show wasn’t about the holiday. Because using actual dates or years was generally discouraged on TV (to keep episodes current in future syndication) there was only one “Lucy” show themed around the turning of the calendar: “Chris’s New Year’s Eve Party” (TLS S1;E14), first broadcast on December 31, 1962.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball wears a fuller, more mature wig that she never wears again. This episode also does not yet incorporate Ball’s soft-focus lens.
Tumblr media
Rumor has it that the police officers were supposed to be played by “Adam-12” (1968-75) co-stars Martin Milner and Kent McCord. Like “Here’s Lucy,” the NBC police drama was filmed on the Universal lot. Gary Crosby played a recurring role on “Adam-12.” In the script, one officer says to the other “I think we’ve been riding together too long” which would have been even funnier had it been an already famous pair of policemen like Milner and McCord.
Tumblr media
Al Lewis was also part of a famous cop show, the comedy “Car 54, Where Are You?” (1961-63) where Joe E. Ross partnered with Fred Gwynn, a year before Lewis and Gwynn teamed for “The Munsters” (1964-66).
Tumblr media
In his DVD introduction to the episode, Gino Conforti (Burglar) says that Lucille Ball thought he was a very athletic person because he was able to jump over the banister!
Tumblr media
Harry announces that he’s just gotten his first color TV set – a 23” screen with remote control. He plans to watch Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra (“She can ride on my barge anytime!”). Lucy informs him that Walter Cronkite has baby blue eyes. Taylor guest starred as herself in the season three opener “Lucy Meets the Burtons” (S3;E1). On “The Lucy Show” Lucy Carmichael played Cleopatra in a community theatre production of Anthony and Cleopatra in an episode aired the same year Taylor’s film premiered. Coincidentally, that was the first episode of “The Lucy Show” to be filmed in color, although CBS did not air the series in color until fall of 1965.
Tumblr media
Remembering that Lucy had just completed filming on the motion picture musical Mame before season six started, there are detectable traces of Auntie Mame’s theatricality and upper class diction in Lucille Ball’s performance here.
Tumblr media
Neighborhood watches began developing in the late 1960s as a response to the rape and murder of Kitty Genovese in Queens, New York. People became outraged after reports that a dozen witnesses did nothing to save Genovese or to apprehend her killer. Officer Riggs says that in the US, a burglary is committed every 15 seconds. Depending on the source, current statistics say between 13 and 18 seconds.
Tumblr media
The surname Barker will be used by Lucille Ball for the last of her television characters in “Life With Lucy” (1986-87).  The name continues her habit of using the letter combination AR (for Arnaz) in all her character names: RicARdo, CARmichael, CARter, and BARker. Lucille Ball’s friend Carole Lombard’s mother told Lucille it would be good luck when Lucy first married Desi in the 1940s.
Tumblr media
Seeing Harry’s cathedral style radio, she asks him if he listens to “Amos ‘n’ Andy.” The original radio show, which was popular from 1928 until 1960, was created, written and voiced by two white actors. When the radio show moved to television in 1951 (the same year that Lucille Ball’s radio show “My Favorite Husband” turned into TV’s “I Love Lucy”), black actors were hired. Sam McDaniel, the first black actor to speak lines on “I Love Lucy” in 1955, was seen on four episodes of “Amos ‘n’ Andy.” Despite decent ratings, CBS pulled the show when the NAACP complained of how they believed blacks were being depicted on this show. The syndicated reruns were pulled from circulation in 1966 after similar protests.
Tumblr media
When Lucy comes tearing in from buying some ice cream, she carries a red and white striped paper sack. Although the company name has been removed, this is undoubtedly a bag from Wil Wright’s Ice Cream, a California business that Lucille Ball adored. Virtually unknown on the East Coast, Wil Wright’s was a chain of old time ice cream parlors that dotted the West Coast until going out of business in the mid-1970s. Their rich recipe and variety of flavors made them a favorite of stars like Lucy and Marilyn Monroe. Wil Wright’s was mentioned by Ethel Mertz in  “Bullfight Dance” (ILL S4;E22) while the Ricardo’s and Mertzes were living in Hollywood. Like Lucille Ball, Lucy Carter also adores ice cream. Harry calls her an “ice cream freak.”
Tumblr media
Lucy repeats her address on the telephone: 4863 Valley Long Drive. Earlier in the series, Harry also gave this as his address.
Tumblr media
Unbeknownst to Lucy, Harry is adjusting Lucy’s rooftop TV antenna. Lucy thinks he’s a burglar and calls the cops. When Lucy asks if that was him up there, her bellows “Well, it wasn’t the 'Fiddler on the Roof’!”  Fiddler on the Roof was a 1964 stage musical that was made into an Oscar-winning film in 1971. Coincidentally, Gino Conforti, who plays the Burglar in this episode, was the original Fiddler on Broadway. The stage production also starred Bea Arthur, Lucille Ball’s Mame co-star.
Tumblr media
Viewers have not seen the second living room closet since Harry and Craig hid their documentary camera in it in “Lucy, The American Mother” (S3;E7). In this episode the closet is in a slightly different place than it was in 1970.
Tumblr media
When Harry panics after being locked in the closet by the Burglar, Lucy slaps him and he says “Thanks. I needed that.”  This is a reference to a ubiquitous TV commercial for Mennen Skin Bracer men’s cologne. The TV ads originally starred John Goodman (“Roseann”).
Tumblr media
The steamer trunk in the closet bears a sticker for The French Line. The venerable steamship company specialized in transatlantic crossings on its flagship France, but also maintained two smaller vessels, the Antilles and the Flandre. The heyday of the France was from 1962 to 1974, when it sold the France to Norwegian Cruise lines. While Lucy Carter never spoke of a transatlantic cruise, she did go to Hawaii from California.  Lucy Ricardo famously went to Europe from New York on the SS Constitution, a ship which sailed under the American Export Lines banner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode is a loose remake of “Lucy Cries Wolf” (ILL S4;E3) in which Lucy Ricardo keeps claiming that criminals are up to no good in the neighborhood – until they finally are!  The storyline was inspired by the real-life theft of Lucille Ball’s jewelry from a Chicago hotel in 1950.
Tumblr media
There were also six people tightly crammed into the Ricardo’s living room closet in “Drafted” (ILL S1;E11) in 1951, also written by Davis (then Pugh) and Carroll.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scheduling SNAFU! Kim wonders why she’s been asked to attend a neighborhood watch meeting when she’s moved to her own apartment a year and a half ago!  The episode where Kim moved out was aired February 28, 1972. Had “Lucy Plays Cops and Robbers” aired as the season 6 opener, Kim’s dates would work out perfectly, but due to the delay, she is three months off.
Hello Dolly? There is quite a bit of camera shake as the officer’s enter the living room, something rarely seen on the series.
Tumblr media
Memory Lapse! Harry is visibly smitten with Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, but neither Harry nor Lucy mention having met her when Lucy got Taylor’s million-dollar diamond ring stuck on her finger in “Lucy Meets the Burtons” (S3;E1).
Wardrobe Malfunction! While listening to the officers, Lucille Ball notices something on the left leg of her black trousers, so while looking at her wristwatch, she tries to rub it off with her other hand.
Tumblr media
Props! Throughout the episode, even though they’ve never been seen before, Lucy’s “good candlesticks” that have “been in the family for generations” (they are actually silver candelabras) are sitting out on the kitchen hatch ledge – talk about burglar bait!
Name Game! Lucy calls the Barkers’ daughter 'Carolyn’ (rhymes with 'fin’) and the Police Officers call her 'Caroline’ (rhymes with 'fine’). Earlier in the episode, Violet Barker (the mother) called her daughter 'Carolyn’ which is what Lucy said. Mother knows best!
Tumblr media
Research! The Burglar calls Harry’s antique radio a 1927 Atwater Kent, but he is a few years off. The 1927 models were rectangular and did not have cathedral-style cabinetry.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Plays Cops and Robbers” rates 4 Paper Hearts out of 5
This episode combines lots of reliable Lucy plotting (crying wolf) with some of TV’s greatest actors!

Episode Recap: S03E01 “The Big Chill”
A detailed recap of “The Big Chill.” There are obviously many spoilers within this recap.
The first episode of season three, “The Big Chill,” begins in May. Owen attends a disciplinary hearing regarding the consequences for hitting Billy Tyson after Billy shuttered the 126 “over a personal grudge.” Billy insists that the budget is responsible for the closure of the firehouse. Owen asks to audit the books so the 126 can stay open, but he reports to the team that he is suspended and must permanently remain in their temporary posts. The 126 is doomed for demolition. The team is optimistic, and Owen says that they won’t give up “until Hell freezes over.” Cut to January, snow covering the ground.
A couple, Carol and Joe, drive in the snow, and they swerve off course. They are okay, and it becomes clear that they are rescuing turtles. While looking for the turtle, they see a boy under the ice. His eyes open under the ice.
The paramedics are now working for a private company called Paragon for Jaque, who is obsessed with the bottom line and is dissatisfied with Tommy’s avoidance of drugs during the call. Jaque wants her to upsell controlled substances because the company’s goal is “Providing Elite Care and Quality Comfort” (or making money…).
Nancy proposes the 126 have a hang and reveals that Carlos is going, and we learn that Carlos and T.K. have broken up. Nancy doesn’t want to take sides. Tommy comes back with snickerdoodles from a client, and Nancy desperately wants to get out of the “capitalist cesspool.”
Judd has been up all night getting ready for the baby’s nursery and painting the walls. He is bothered by the upcoming destruction of the 126. Marjan tries to call Judd about the demolition, but he won’t answer. Marjan, meanwhile, has established that she has frequently been protesting the destruction of the 126. On this day, she handcuffs herself to the firehouse and live streams using her Fire Foxx Instagram. Snow begins to fall, so they cannot go through with the demolition.
Carlos rolls up and arrests Marjan just like he arrested Michelle in season 1. Marjan has done several things to sabotage the demolition, and Carlos tells her about “accepting the reality of the situation, brutal as it is,” and about how she should know when to move on. Marjan calls it giving up. She also asks Carlos if he’s talking about the 126 or T.K. with a knowing tone.
Owen has gone to the Hill Country with Buttercup, and he meets a woman named Sadie who lives in a cabin nearby. He’s trying to figure himself out. Sadie warns about the snow coming.
Some guys are being foolish. One is recording while the other is being pulled on skies on the back of a car. Of course, they end up in an accident, and the skiing guy’s head (Brody) goes through some ice. The paramedics arrive. They can’t remove the ice completely, but they have to cut it. The captain of the 129 puts his best man on the job and has Mateo cut the ice. As they’re parting, there’s a moment between Nancy and Mateo, a long stare after saying, “Good to see you.”
Marjan is bailed out of jail by Billy Tyson, who shows her an apology that Owen could have signed to get reinstated. Billy also asks Marjan to ask Judd to call him.
The paramedics are driving to the best trauma center in Texas, but Brody’s carotid perforated. They pulled over and made a shield out of snow to pack the wound. They stabilize Brody.
Grace is at the call center, very pregnant, and she takes a call about a break-in at Pike’s Furniture Store, and Carlos takes the call. Inside, there’s a veteran who uses a wheelchair (Major Garrett) and his friend (Sargent Vincent Thompson), who has gone inside the store for shelter from the cold.
Marjan comes into work and is angry that Judd didn’t take her call. She tells Judd and Paul that the 126 is still standing. She refuses to give up. She shows them why Owen couldn’t be reinstated and is upset that he couldn’t get over his pride and sign the required apology. Judd is still angry at Billy. Neither Judd nor Paul are that upset that Owen did not sign the apology, but Marjan is. She storms off and says she’s “taking a snow day.”
Carlos takes the veteran to a shelter at a church, and he leaves them with a young volunteer, Lindsey Roberts.
Judd and Grace talk. Grace is concerned about Marjan driving up to see Owen in the bad weather. They talk about Owen hitting Billy. Judd inquires about “his girls.” Judd is concerned that Grace is drinking chamomile tea because she drinks it when she’s sick; she says the call center is just out of Earl Gray. Grace and Judd’s call breaks up.
Marjan gets to Owen’s cabin and greets Owen and Buttercup. She confronts Owen about him giving up as he makes twig espresso. She’s upset when he doesn’t seem to care about what’s happening with the 126 even though she thinks the snow is a sign from the universe. Owen’s decided he doesn’t want to fight. He’s “tired of playing the hero.” He tells Marjan he’s given into reality. Marjan storms out of the cabin.
Major Garrett was a prisoner of war, so the closed space upsets him, but it is not safe outside. Just as Carlos is talking to the veteran about how he is lucky to have a roof over his head, the rood starts to cave in. Carlos makes sure Major Garrett gets out.
The paramedics are cleaning up after the nearly decapitated dude, and Nancy starts to inquire about what happened with Carlos and T.K. T.K. won’t say what happened. She loves them together, and “the mystery is killing” her. T.K. avoids the issue.
The firefighters get to the collapsed gym of Providence Pasture Church, which is on fire. They’ve accounted for all the twenty-five people in there, but there’s nowhere to take them, but they end up taking them to the furniture store. The paramedics arrive at the store for triage, and Carlos and T.K. are forced to interact awkwardly. As he’s talking, Carlos realizes that the volunteer, Lindsey, is not accounted for because she was the one keeping track of who was there, and she didn’t include herself.
The building has become iced over from the water used to stop the fire. Judd compares it to Frozen because he’s been watching it because he has a daughter on the way. They realize the girl is missing and know that going in could cause a secondary collapse. The team starts to plan to make entry, and they speak to Lindsey’s parents, who plea for the 122 firefighters (Judd, Paul, Marjan is absent) and the 129 (Mateo) to save the girl. Carlos takes the parents to his car for warmth.
They look for Lindsey and ask for her to bang on something if she can hear them. They hear banding, but the building starts to fall more as the team nears, the situation increasingly precarious, and the chances of saving the girl are looking increasingly bleak.
Owen is walking buttercup, who starts to run off. Buttercup finds a man on the ground, barely responsive.
Marjan is driving in the snow, and she loses control of the car and drives off the road.
End of episode.

Forgiveness is a Four Letter Word
Bucky x OC Fic
Word Count: 1900
Background: Andrea’s grandmother worked for Howard Stark during the creation of the super soldier serum and when she was unable to help HYDRA, they took Andrea and her mother. The Avengers are tasked with rescuing the two women, but what will happen between Bucky and Andrea as she sticks around the compound and SHIELD?
Warnings: I am going to be updating this as often as I can to make sure that this is accurate! But the warnings for this chapter are: violence/abuse and angst
A/N So, this is a thing. I am actually writing a fic. Like I am actually doing it. I have had this idea in my drafts for a few months now, and honestly I still have a lot of anxiety about posting this, but I am just going for it. Please be nice to me I haven’t done this in YEARS
Chapter One: And Then There Was One
Don’t draw attention to yourself
Don’t ask questions
Don’t think about what you are doing
Don’t think about the people you are hurting
I repeated each phrase over and over again as I walked through the halls of the HYDRA facility. This was the fifth one I was at in the past…well however many weeks I was here for. I had lost track at this point, and it was difficult to keep track of the days. I knew it was thirty-two days since I had seen my mother, but we had both been here longer than that. I was told I would see her again if I cooperated, if I answered their questions, but I couldn’t do that. I didn’t have the answers they wanted.
I followed the two scientists down the hall, keeping my head down feeling the presence of the two soldiers behind me. I was too scared to turn around and look at them, but it was unmistakable. Nothing about today was going to go well.
“Ah, there she is.” A voice called from the blinding light of the meeting room, “My sweet little Andrea.” I internally flinched looking up at the man. All I wanted to do was run, but I knew there was no point.
“I told you. I don’t know anything about the serum. My mother didn’t tell me anything, my grandmother didn’t tell me anything.” It was the same thing every time. The same phrase every single time.
And everything single time they didn’t believe me
“I know you told us, but we still don’t believe you,” Garrett took a step forward, “Your mother didn’t have the answers which is incredibly disappointing, and you know what happens when I’m disappointed.”
I tried to speak but the words got caught in my throat and I could feel the blood drain from my face. I could tell the man was still talking but all I could hear was a dull ringing in my ears
 Don’t draw attention to yourself
Don’t ask questions
Don’t think about what you are doing
Don’t think about the people you are hurting
Don’t let them see you hurt
“Miss Andrea? Did you hear me?” I didn’t know how many times that question was asked before I finally was able to focus.
“Where is she?” I asked trying to keep my voice even and keep the tears from spilling from my eyes, “You killed her.”
 It wasn’t a question.
“We can discuss that later. For now, we have a new plan for you. Since you insist that you know nothing of the super soldier serum, we have decided a better plan is to simply reverse engineer it.” I felt a familiar blunt object against my back pushing my forward to follow Garrett, “Despite the fact that the Asset is no longer in our possession and the previous attempts by your mother have failed, we believe that you can be our solution.”
I heard the click of the safety being unlocked before the cocking a gun. It was a quiet sound, but the implications were deafening. Either agree or die. Right here.
“You are going to kill me either way.” I sighed wondering how long it would take for me to bleed out, not that it would matter. I had no idea how long I had been here for and no one was coming.
 “Yes.”
“I won’t do it.” I surprised myself with my response, “but you need me, so you’re not going to kill me right now. Because you’re right. I’ve been lying, I know Stark’s research better than anyone, including Zola.” I waited for the shot, for the pain, for it all to be over.
“Take her to Interrogation 12, see how long she lasts there.” Garret turned and as he walked away, I felt a painful tug on my arm sending me back against the cool ground. My groans from hitting my head mixed with the sounds of boot surrounding me and orders to follow and yells for others to get back to work. The ringing was back, louder and more encompassing before as I was able to recover, I felt a sharp jerk of my arm pulling me off the ground and loud pop coming from my shoulder. I couldn’t even scream as I felt the soldier pull me off the ground, clearly dislocating my shoulder in his process of man handling me. I never saw myself as small or weak before being ripped off the streets.
The pain bubbled in my arm as I was pushed forward, my feet barely hitting the ground at first. It was like leaving your hand on the stove, dull at first then it became blinding. My arm was completely dislocated, I could see it bulging incorrect from my peripherals, but I didn’t dare look at it, knowing it would only satisfy the soldiers around me.
 Don’t draw attention to yourself
Don’t ask questions
Don’t think about what you are doing
Don’t think about the people you are hurting
Don’t let them see you hurt
Don’t fucking cry
“Fix my fucking arm” I growled being shoved into a small dark room with nothing but grey walls and a small metal chair with arm and leg restraints. “Fix my fucking arm you asshole.” There was no amount of anger that could cover up the fact I was begging and in pain.
“Don’t worry sweetheart,” the one soldier that dislocated my arm laughed, “We’ll take care of you.” He continue before shoving be against the chair, forcing me to sit down as the wind was knocked out of me, which in the moment I was thankful for as I kept me from being able to scream, “This will hurt, so do me a favor and scream for me.” He whispered far too close to my ear for comfort before roughly resetting my shoulder and this time, there wasn’t anything I could do but scream.
 Don’t draw attention to yourself
Don’t ask questions
Don’t think about what you are doing
Don’t think about the people you are hurting
Don’t let them see you hurt
Don’t fucking cry
Stay Alive
At least a week passed since I agreed to work on the serum, or at least I assumed it was a week. My shoulder was healed improperly making every movement a struggle, but the pain eventually turned to a dull ache. I was given a lab, full access to HYDRA research and around the clock armed surveillance by soldiers who were far too keen on killing me for my liking.
We don’t want any mistakes this time. Fix the serum and create new soldiers that won’t fail
The instructions played over and over in my head. When Garret said soldiers that won’t fail, he meant soldier that won’t get free, soldier that wouldn’t turn out like Sargent Barnes. You had seen him once but heard the stories dozens of times to the point you were convinced if he saw you, he’d either kill you or have you thrown in a SHIELD jail where you would live out a very miserable life.
“What’s taking so long sweetheart?” One of the soldiers asked
“Do you have a degree in bio-engineering?” I asked not looking up from the slides, “No. You don’t. So, if you keep asking questions, I will keep getting distracted, which means I won’t be able to work.” I smiled a little knowing how pissed off my comment was. The soldiers had been explicitly instructed not to touch me, either physically or with any form of weapon.
“When you slip up, which you will, I will enjoy torturing you again. You’re so pretty when you scream, you know that? So pretty and so weak.” With every word the soldier got closer and closer, the thud of his boots hitting the ground the only sound ringing in my ears. He was enjoying this far too much for my liking “How do you think your mother would feel, knowing you’re working for us now.”
The soldiers weren’t barred from psychological torture and the constant intimidation, threats and verbal abuse was difficult to ignore. While I had tried to ignore him, tune out the comments and jeers, it wore me down.
“Should I tell Garrett you’re distracting me?” I asked quietly taking notes and still not looking up as I work, focusing on my notes because I knew if I looked up, he would win. At this point, crying wasn’t an option. It wasn’t physically possible anymore due to the dehydration. Apparently, HYDRA had perfected a formula to keep a person weak enough to manipulate and to torture, but not kill or lose their value. Bare necessities of food, sleep and drink to keep me alive and functioning enough for their needs.
“You think you’re so smart, that you’re untouchable,” He was still right behind me and without any thought I feel his hands grip my neck pulling me back so the only the back legs were on the floor causing me to flail before gripping the arms of the chair, “You’re not.” He whispered into my ear squeezing my neck tighter and tighter with every second. I scrambled trying to pull his hand off of me, but it was useless and only made him tighten his grip. He was like a Boa Constrictor, the more I struggled, the more he enjoyed it. “And I can do that, and anything I like, whenever I like” His lips were against my ear before the pressure of his hand was gone, replaced by the cool air of my chair falling the rest of the way back crashing to the floor and bringing me with it.
I laid on the floor for a minute catching my breath trying to blink away the black dots speckling my vision. I knew it was going to bruise, just another to add to the ever-growing list of bruises, cuts and scars that littered my body.
“Now what are you doing down there?” Garrett asked peering over me confused. He must have missed the last few minutes or he was truly mocking me.
“Fell.” I groaned barely able to speak as I pushed the chair away from be before sitting up. There was no point in being honest.
“Well get up and get back to work.” Garrett pulled me off the ground, not violently enough to dislocate my shoulder again, but enough to make the old injury ache with a dull pain.
I nodded sitting back down and getting back to my notes. As much as I loved doing research and running experiments, knowing that I would be responsible for the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands of people if HYRDA succeeded destroyed any good feeling I had. I couldn’t help but think of those on the Manhattan Project and whether or not they felt this way. Despite their best efforts of keeping me under their watch, I had a plan. Copy everything, destroy the originals and create a serum that would be so unstable it couldn’t even be administered. One plus side of the access to all the technology around me I was able to make a chip that held a copy of every test, every note, ever conversation that I had. A plus side of all the abuse I sustained was I was able to make the chip small enough that I was able to insert it under my skin where it would be covered either by my clothes, or by bruises. Phase one was done and so far, everything was working.
 Or I thought it was.

“Delusion completely overcomes man's sense of right and wrong.”
■ ABOUT. ■
name: Dallas King age: thirty-eight occupation: sargent of arms gender: cis-male pronouns: he/him sexuality: heterosexual
■ HISTORY. ■ tw: nsfw, tw: masturbation
Dallas had always been an introvert.  He did things on his own because he always thought ‘if you want things done correctly, you’re better off doing it yourself.’  Dallas didn’t have many friends growing up people thought he was too different to be friends with.  He didn’t care too much. If he had, he would have made more of an effort trying to befriend his classmates. To him, none of them mattered, but they were children and children always gossiped. All just wanted to do was focus on his studies and move on from school and these people. Dallas’s life had definitely changed over the years. He started to hang around a group of kids who competed in boxing. Eventually, he chose to join them in the ring one day and found he was a natural. In a matter of months, Dallas not only matched his skills with his new friend group, but he also surpassed them. Everyone was surprised by his progress. For the first time, Dallas felt confident and indestructible. These two emotions together make a deadly combination. Dallas was never afraid to fight anyone no matter what the situation. He was ready to fight with everyone and anyone at any place and at any time. He craved the feeling of victory against any mundane opponent.
With this mindset, Dallas got himself in a lot of trouble. A couple times he was arrested for public violence in bars, homes, and clubs. At first, Dallas fought only for sport and pleasure. However, as he grew older, he turned it into a game. Other than fighting, Dallas took a lot of interest in nightlife. There wasn’t a weekend that went by, where you wouldn’t find him bar hopping, drinking, and socializing – ironically enough. This lifestyle required a steady income in order to pay off his bar tabs. That’s when he became a security guard at Moonlight, the most prestigious night club in New York. While working there, he ended up often working side-by-side with Quantum of Devils President Garrett Miller. Dallas took great interest in the gang and also its members, it was his job to protect them since most of them worked at the nightclub. Even though he wasn’t a gang member, Dallas would do their dirty work for them. He was often asked to take a guy in the back alley and have his way with them. Dallas figured that Garrett knew how to advance the man’s battle skills were, he knew he was able to deal with whatever issue came up them.
Seeing how well Dallas worked with the gang, the president of Quantum of Devils offered him the Sargent of Arms position in the gang. A position that would provide him with many opportunities of fighting someone who got in the way. Considering he both enjoyed his job at the night club and also working for the Cessations, he said yes in a heartbeat. Dallas can often be described as a complete psychopath, but that trait of him is beloved by Garrett Miller himself. He is a blood lust, dangerous, honourable, and cold. He has proclaimed that he doesn’t have a ‘kind’ bone in his entire body. He doesn’t have much of a conscience and doesn’t feel guilty after a punch or a kill.
■ WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON? ■
Dallas’s whole life revolves around the Quantum of Devils. He’s either doing a job, riding with Garrett, or guarding at Moonlight Night Club. While his membership with the devils is still relatively new, he feels at home.
■ KEEP THIS AWAY FROM YOUR ENEMIES ■
While following Garrett around, from one establishment to another, he has met many people. Often times he’ll stand by Garrett’s side and not say a word, many looked at him and feared him immediately. Something that was expected. Though recently, someone stood out to him. It took him a while to pinpoint why he was so taken back. When walking into Sweet Kiss Studio, he walked into one of Margot’s auditions. Walking into a Sweet Kiss audition wasn’t like other acting auditions. He walked into a young woman pleasuring herself in front of a camera and a few others in the room. It was a sight that any man would enjoy. Though as they barged in, the audition came to a pause, and Dallas was able to give the young woman another look. She reminded him of someone from his past, the only positive woman from his past. His wife’s coach provided the motherly touch he never got from his own parents. Their resemblance was uncanny, and it’s stunted him ever since. After earning her position with the production company, he doesn’t show it, though is a little excited any time he and Garrett go to Sweet Kiss, in hopes of meeting her again.
■ RELATIONSHIPS. ■
■ Lauren Davies: He hasn’t spoken to her much, though has noticed her around Sweet Kiss Studios. He walked in on her audition and has found a great resemblance to the only woman who has been kind to him and loved him, in his entire life. She doesn’t have any affiliation or clue that the company she works for is owned by a gang.
■ Nari Kim: Being the Devils Apprentice, he is often in contact with Nari regarding Garrett’s whereabouts.
■ Isaac Abrigo: Being the VP’s St. of Arms, they’re often in contact with one another.
■ CONNECTIONS. ■
■  Foster Richman > Friend
■  Elisabeth Duncan > Connection
■  Jamie Gomez > Finds Annoying
■  Anastasia Jones > Impressed with
Dallas King is an TAKEN character and is portrayed by Charlie Hunnam who’s FC IS SEMI-NEGOTIABLE.

 Martha Nichols, 78
Tumblr media
Martha Marler Nichols, 78, died Sunday morning at Mountain Valley Hospice in Yadkinville, NC, January 19 of cancer, surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend. Martha was born and grew up in Winston-Salem, NC the daughter of Ralph H. Marler and Jeanne Lalance Marler, a member of First Presbyterian Church, attended RJ Reynolds High School, and then Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. She married James P. Barksdale, JR of Rocky Mount, NC, a Presbyterian minister in 1962 and lived in Kannapolis, NC, Charlotte, NC, and North Wilkesboro, NC with churches that he was called to serve. After his death in 1981, Martha married Ward H. Nichols, a renowned artist and returned to live in North Wilkesboro, NC.
From the beginning of her adult life as a Presbyterian minister's wife, Martha was a devoted supporter of her husband and his career, but she also had outside interests and took art and history courses while in Charlotte and North Wilkesboro. An artist herself, she taught watercolor and drawing classes at Wilkes Community College, volunteered at the Wilkes Art Gallery and became the gallery's director in 1976. Following this work, Martha served as the Director of ExperienceWorks, the Director of Retired Senior Volunteers Program, a Commissioned Realtor with Caldwell Banker and Apple Realty, and lastly as the Marketing Director of Rose Glen Manor, the organization from which she retired.
When Martha's mother died, she became a consummate gardener to work through her grief and before limitations in her mobility, had over 200 roses in her garden, was an award-winning master rosarian and was a member of the Winston-Salem Rose Society and American Rose Society. Valentine's Day would signify the delivery of her roses to many friends and loved ones throughout Wilkes, Caldwell, and Forsyth Counties. Also inspired by her mother's lifelong hobby of quilting, Martha became more than an avid quilter, making over 50 quilts and prayer blankets, most of which she gave to friends in celebration of a joyous occasion, or to friends who faced serious or terminal illnesses.
In fact, Martha sought out people who were experiencing terminal illness, becoming their friend and counselor, and providing whatever comfort she could give. In 1980 when her first husband was diagnosed with cancer, Martha created what she called a home-grown hospice program since hospice was not yet widely available.  This led to her contributions towards hospice in Wilkes County, culminating in 1984, first with a speech and presentation to a group of clergy from western NC and subsequently to another group of oncologists in the area. She became well known for her lecture, "The Impact of Cancer on the Family Unit: Psychological and Theological Emphasis" and sharing her experiences were instructive in enhancing their understanding.
The arts helped bring Martha and Ward together, and Martha's life with Ward provided another ongoing connection to the arts. Ward claims that Martha was his biggest advocate and supporter, often naming his paintings and providing constructive feedback.  She also managed the business affairs of his work, helping to organize most of his shows and always serving as a consummate host to out of town guests and collectors. They were married for more than 35 years, and their lives included an international trip almost every year and to every state in the continental US. Ward and Martha were members of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church and attended regularly, and Martha served as an Elder and on the membership and personnel committees. Martha's involvement in the community was extensive, and she was particularly proud of Vision2020, a long-range planning effort in Wilkes County during the 1990's.  Ward and Martha also frequently visited Charleston, SC, West Virginia and Isle of Palms, where Martha's children would join them for a week at the beach.
While Martha had a full career and many interests and hobbies, she would claim her most important accomplishment was her family, with her first husband, Jim Barksdale and their three children, and then her marriage with Ward Nichols, which coincided in time with the arrival of her four grandchildren. Martha created an intimate family whose members have always deeply supported each other, teaching them how to love and to cherish, particularly during difficult times. Her values were very clear, she was a fervent advocate for the underprivileged, and donated her time and money to the homeless and the poor. Several causes stand out; she created the Ralph H. Marler, JR Award for the Wilkes Art Gallery in memory of her brother, and the Katie Fund for the Wilkes Animal Hospital in memory of her beloved cocker spaniel.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. James P Barksdale, JR and her brother, Ralph H Marler, JR. She is survived by her husband, Ward H Nichols; and her three children, James P Barksdale III, Elisabeth S Barksdale (Laura E Clay), and grandson, Kip H Barksdale, John M Barksdale (Katina M Barksdale), and grandchildren, Ellis A Barksdale, Finn P Barksdale, and Catherine M Barksdale.
A memorial service will be held on February 1 at 2:00pm, at the North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church, with a celebration of life to immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any shelter for the homeless, or to one of the funds inspired by Martha.
