Listen, I thought I was going to end up hating internal medicine the most, which I do, but I hate surgery even more. My time on surgery has truly been an assault on the spirit. Mo de suffer gannn. As in, I can just cry. It is truly inhumane what we're required to do on surgery. And having to take call on top?? Olorun. I can more than see how people become severely depressed and suicidal on surgery.

rotation schedule for third year 😳 and in a few days i'll know which electives i got to fill those spaces in august and february. if i dont get the pediatric heme/onc elective in august, i will die. Badly.

this may be the worst OR scene i’ve ever seen on tv

why is the anesthesiologist scrubbed in? why is there a prison guard in the room and why is he also scrubbed in? why is there a drape up behind the patient’s head? why is there nothing on the back table but a row of scalpels? 

also, for what it’s worth, in a fight between a scrub tech who’s table is all set up and a serial killer trying to steal a scalpel... my money is on the scrub tech

Learning how to get away with as much as you can, especially on surgery: just getting out of and avoiding the OR. Skipping lectures. People really don’t care as much as you think. I love it.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!!!!!! My surgery rotations starting in March actually sound cool and interesting!!!!! The schedule will still be HELL, but at least the cases might be fun!!!

#I start on plastic surgery #which I am very intrigued about #because I feel like most plastic surgery things I am generally not a fan of #(like do your thing! it’s your body! but I also very much dislike a bunch of the cosmetic stuff) #so I’m interested to see the full scope of what they do outside of cosmetics #and my second rotation is like a robotic surgery thing #so these are like best case scenario because they seem like the least bloody of the surgery specialties #which is awesome because I’m absolutely certain I’m going to pass out in the OR at some point #so maybe this will help!!! #I can’t believe I’m actually tentatively excited!!!!!

Hella botched, but yeah.

Not the big one that the small, straighter scars surround; that was what required the surgery, but most of them are surgical, yes.

He's had several surgeries performed in the ten years since he first received the injury. The intended purpose was so he could regain some mobility without the brace and experience less pain. This was not successful, and has, in fact, achieved the exact opposite.

#it's more like just general shoulder surgery #but yeah the stab wound did absolutely fuck his rotator cuff #also left him with pretty sever muscle and nerve damage #without his brace it's hard for him to lift his arm more than 35° #Storm Hawks #Storm Hawks Dark Ace #Dark Ace #headcanon #in Velocity he's wearing a support brace under his disguise until he can get back into his uniform #yeah I 100% headcanon that the weird piping he wears on his left arm is a mobility aid alongside being a grappling hook
