while we're having this debate i have a few more takes:

the ginger dressing that comes with salads at hibachi restaurants is top tier. one of the best things man has ever created

teriyaki sauce belongs on salmon or chicken. thats it

if you think sriracha is the best hot sauce not only are you wrong, you're gross

spicy mayo however is godly

ketchup and mayo mixed is the ultimate french fry dipping sauce

that said i don't trust anyone who thinks dipping french fries into a chocolate frosty from wendy's is gross. that shit is heavenly

relish is an underrated condiment. I'm slavic ok pickles are in my blood

blue cheese dressing is fucking disgusting. its nasty and i will not listen to any other opinion on it

balsamic vinaigrette is also delicious. its perfect. honestly one of the more ideal salad dressings and i eat a salad nearly every day so i have a lot of authority on this

if you don't like mint with chocolate youre wrong. i really don't know what to tell you. mint chocolate chip ice cream is like the second best ice cream imo (my fave is cookies and cream)

chocolate and peanut butter were created to be together in any and every way

Hello! This is a post to let you know there's a real person here while I finish getting this set up. I've been on tumblr since ye olde days (2011) but I am set to get my original writing published for the first time so I am making myself a Professional Persona blog.

it’s funny how, as a kid, i read / watched psychologically devastating media routinely, and now i can’t make it through a chapter where a character is Having A Bad Time. character death is a absolute no-go; serious angst is off the table.

and it’s not like i wasn’t an empathetic kid — i was painfully, horribly capable of projecting onto any and every fictional character. i cried when characters got hurt. i was That Reader. but that felt like it was part of The Audience Contract — you invest, you take the punches, you carry on — and now it just feels Sad (Persistent, Derogatory).

i still love narrative complexity, suspense, a classic Act 2 Low Point, but i can really only handle angst when i’m absolutely certain of a neutral-to-positive endpoint for it, or when it’s happening in a very specific genre or being executed with really, really incredible skill.

i’m not sure how to think about this — maybe it’s that i’m more tired, or more chronically stressed and sad, but it’s not like i wasn’t an anxious, under-slept, melancholy child, so that seems like an incomplete explanation, at best. my current working hypothesis is that i’m just worse at compartmentalizing stuff, these days. it’s not often that i can go into the Narrative Fantasy Headspace in an uninterrupted, dedicated way — frequently, i’m reading things on the bus home from the store, or between work meetings, or while cooking. The Fiction Space is more permeable. The things that happen there play by the rules of the physical world — the sad things have a kind of material gravity.

anyway — i don’t think i miss it, at least not in the way that i miss many other aspects of my childhood relationship to fiction and imagination. i’m okay with my thinner skin. but it’s really weird looking back on stuff i genuinely loved, or even passively enjoyed, and being like, “huh. that’s… not a thing i’ll be revisiting anytime soon.”

it drives me NUTS when people say that Taliesin and Matt decided together backstage to kill off Molly. It makes 0 sense and it's ??? just such an unnecessary rumor to spread. People on reddit often spout it like it's just a known fact. Like, as if Taliesin didn't famously complain about having to pull all nighters over a busy weekend to roll and conceptualize a new character cuz he had ZERO backup. As if Molly didn't JUST have a huge lore drop and was clearly building to be a major focus of the next branch of the story. As if Matt didn't have LOADS of lore and planning already done that he had to to redo and reconfigure to fit with the Tomb Takers going and exhuming Molly to continue their plans. Matt said he had this whole thing where Lucien was gonna show up in a different body and hunt down the M9 to kill Molly and take his old body back. He SAID that!

Idk why this drives me nuts. It just feels... almost disrespectful. Like. Y'all. Taliesin isn't a baby. He fucked up. It's okay. He made a dumb choice in the heat of the battle and doubled down and it got his character killed. Things escalated and there wasn't a healer and it's JUST as simple as that. Stop making shit up to justify something that only SEEMS LIKE IT'S ORDAINED because these people are talented story tellers. Blowing all the work they did to reconfigure the story and just HAND WAVING and being like "they planned it ahead of time" is just rude. If it all seems preplanned it's cuz Matt busted his patootie off and reweaved a frayed tapestry into a beautiful work. Happy accidents and all that. CMON.

For anyone else who is gonna struggle surviving the next 3 weeks with the angsty and tense situation of Callowmoore here's a few things from the last 2 episodes that I feel were underrated and will assist in trying to keep me sane/emotionally stable: - Matching messed up hands built for holding - Fearne nervously playing with her hair as she approaches Ashton - Ashton wanted Fearne to be either the last thing they saw if they died or the first thing they saw when they succeeded - Fearne's admittance corroborates Ashley's 4SD revelation that Fearne is in love with someone in the party but doesn't know how to process the emotions - Fearne wanted Ashton to be happy, while Ashton wanted to feel whole so they would be worthy of the Hells - Ashton twice tried to lead a search for Fearne, and instantly clocking onto Chetney saying he followed Fearne - Fearne making herself look as radiant as possible before giving Ashton the cold shoulder - Ashton only rose to Chetney's provocations until he said 'You hurt Fearne' Use how you will

just putting this out there, you can choose to accept hannah's latest apology or not. thats your call. what you shouldn't do is drag sam or any of the guys into it when they have literally nothing to do with it. they weren't in her life when she made those tweets and regardless of them being in her life now, hannah is an adult who makes her own choices and should be held responsible for them. don't shit on sam because he's dating her. don't shit on the guys for having general association. this is hannah's mess, not greta's.

will never not be a little peeved that adira's first two episodes feature endless misgendering. i get that they hadnt specified pronouns yet, and kind of maybe didnt know themself yet?, but considering the level of promo given to discovery's new non-binary character, to have to spend that much time meeting a new character and hearing 'she/her' that much was and is pretty frustrating. like we as the audience knew before any of the characters did

that said, i do find the layered metaphor that their joining with the tal symbiont is called 'an aberration' because adira is human, added with the beginning of the arc with gray, to be pretty damn compelling still. that mix of being othered but also hope is pretty well done imo! discovery is constantly trying so hard wrt telling queer stories, usually failing a tad, but also then bringing it back in, and i do respect that pretty solidly. TWO instances of unbury your gays is pretty unhinged to pull off and yet!!
