It’s done!
The directory of all the various DC related books (that I own) has been completed!
Not all of the scans are mine, when other people have shared for the main series and spinoffs over the years, but a very solid chunk are my scans of all the ‘unimportant’ material. (If other people had good scans, I opted to save my own time, even if I could scan my own copies, basically.) And now it’s all fairly organized in one easy access list!
Includes: Conan, Kaito, Yaiba, the novels, movie manga, educational manga, activity books, tokubestuhen, archives, game guides, etc.
Now that it’s caught up, I’ll try to keep it up to date when I get more books in the future.

in which I’m getting to know my brain better
I can’t really pinpoint a time when I started reading about ADHD and believed that maybe it was something that I had. I think it’s kind of been in the back of my head from when ADD was still a commonly-used term but then I would go “naaaah can’t be me, I’m just a lazy person!” I remember ages ago in high school I was at a friend’s house and watching their brothers and I thought “This is what actual ADHD looks like” so I guess that kind of pins it for me thinking about it as long ago as 15 years ago but I never gave it serious consideration until more recently.
(This is very, very long so I don’t blame you if you want to just skip it entirely)
Just last night I was talking to Zack and I was giggling and going “I still can’t believe I really didn’t see this before” and they were going “Really?”
Let’s think about this. As a kid I was always pretty sensitive and had weird... I used to call them compulsions but now I wonder if it was more impulsive behavior where I would hoard things like rocks and leaves or do dangerous shit without thinking about it (one memory comes to mind immediately when I noticed there was broken glass on the playground and I started meticulously picking it up as carefully as I could, and my teacher freaked out when she saw what I was doing. It unsettled my mom too, but me explaining that I didn’t want anyone to get hurt didn’t help put them at ease). I would be deeply sucked into my imagination at times, like...
When I was a kid I always kind of pictured myself like everything that was happening was a movie. I don’t really mean this in a dissociative derealization kind of thing, but just imagining every second was a movie or a video game. Sometimes I still do this. I can’t really pinpoint if there were a lot of hyperactive symptoms other than countless times my mom told me to stop fiddling with my hands or string or whatever was within my grasp. I would always come home from school dirty with grass stains on my jeans and holes in my knees and rocks in my pockets, earning the title “skruffy ragamuffin” from my sister, but I just kind of figured that was part of being a kid. Looking at it NOW through this viewpoint gives me second thought though.
I picked up on physical activities rather quickly from a young age like dancing and karate--probably the physical movement was what I needed to help me focus--and I do things like pick at the skin around my thumbs, bite the inside of my cheeks (Didn’t realize this was a thing until I watched Hannah Hart describe it as part of her fidgeting and went “OH.”)
As I got older and after my sister died, see... I always viewed this time period in my life as I couldn’t do school or focus because of my grief and my home life falling apart, and I think part of that is still true. However, I would continue this with “And because of that I didn’t form good study habits and that continued into highschool when I stopped giving a shit”. Which was better than thinking I was just a stupid failure, and I really don’t think I am stupid... I can think quickly on my feet, I notice things that other people don’t, I’ve been an advanced reader from a VERY early age and I can infer correct answers from context clues and analyze things in that way.
There is one memory from high school that, in the past, I thought maybe was tied to an emotional flashback but I realize now that it might’ve been Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. There was a weird disagreement that I was having with a friend of mine over something (truly can’t remember what it was about now), and somehow this rejection of him not listening to me spiraled me into this state of Why Should I Fucking Bother and the first target for this heavy, painful feeling was “okay, well I should just stop drawing because Why Should I Fucking Bother”. My English teacher found me sitting in the hallway crying and sat down with me to ask what was happening and I tried to explain, and then he had me show him my artwork and he goes “You are an incredible artist, you shouldn’t give this up.” One of few teachers in my life who I will always respect because he was always stern in a kind way, understanding, and an overall wonderful man.
I’m kind of getting off track here but I think that’s really just self-demonstrating at this point.
When I worked at Target there wasn’t really an opportunity for the ADHD type symptoms to manifest because I was pretty much always moving. In school I could zone out very easily but at work I was able to have more bouts of focus, but traded off my inattention for anxiety instead. This was also just a few years after the big PTSD causing event, but retail in general can give pretty much anyone some anxiety issues. Nonetheless, the things that I enjoyed about working there is that I was able to master my work zone completely (to a point of annotating the training guide with new information and keeping it updated), became the go-to person for several things, and I enjoyed being able to have a bit of freedom of movement around my work space. I enjoyed being able to have physical, tangible ways to see progress being made on something and there was a surprising amount of nuance and problem-solving when it came to resolving customer complaints.
Moving to a desk job in 2018 was a weird departure from all of that. I had started off kind of as a clerical worker and would compile the concrete goods vouchers that we send out to our clients, receive them back, prepare them for scanning, scan+upload to case files, etc. It was dreadfully boring a lot of the time but I didn’t mind the long stretches where I could sit and prepare documents for scanning because I was able to listen to music while I got them ready. After a while I was encouraged to become a fiduciary, and that is really when the Maybe I Have ADHD started to rear it’s head.
My job doesn’t have the tangible way to see that I’ve made progress. I update placements to generate foster care payments, I generate the vouchers for concrete goods, I put in ongoing foster care case management payments or daycare payments, I will sometimes resolve some payment issues but only to a certain point--I’m able to see information but being able to solve the problem is actually not my area unless I can correct it within the case management system. There is an extreme need to be detail oriented because we work with specific service dates, with some services ongoing but some needing to be renewed every six months, gobs of emails with paperwork and trying to get the right signatures on everything because we’re dealing in state money...
on top of this, in order to move into the permanent position, I’ve been taking the accounting classes online outside of work and (until the pandemic started) having a long commute-work-commute day that totaled about 12 hours out of my waking life. My diet changed radically because Zack and I didn’t see each other often and getting home at 6:30 at night didn’t leave a lot of room to cook and then eat before having downtime to sleep... only to wake up at 5:30 AM again... my insomnia started kicking in to a point now where I take a benadryl through the work week to keep my sleep schedule on track. I started having anxiety attacks at work because trying to keep up with remembering all the little details I need to at work was getting to me.
As I was training, I would write a post-it reminder whenever I repeated a mistake and stick it to my monitor. I got up to about 14 post-its before it became distracting and I instead compiled them onto a list and tacked it to my cubicle wall.
A few months into this I had a crying jag talking to Zack because it felt like something was really wrong and I couldn’t pinpoint what exactly. Depression? Anxiety? Trauma? School trauma? I think it’s just been untreated ADHD this whole time. I keep thinking back to this post I’ve seen on Tumblr a long time ago where someone said “disability exists in the context of the environment” and I think that’s what’s happening to me. I previously have bee in environments that weren’t butting up against The ADHD as much, but this job has been extremely challenging for the past 11 months.
Thankfully, my boss and I have one-on-one discussions regularly (used to be every other week but since the pandemic started it’s been weekly phone calls) and she has no issues with my work performance... likely because I exert a lot of mental and emotional energy to keep up with everything I need to do. I’m also in charge of the busiest field office in our region--there’s a high turnover rate, lots of child welfare cases, etc--and the social workers that I talk to on the regular enjoy having me as their fiduciary. There have been many times however, despite the fact I seem to be doing pretty good, where it feels like I am hanging on by a fucking thread. Here’s something personal that I don’t think I’ve shared yet on the blog: last year, within the first month and a half of adjusting to this new pace of work and school and the long commutes, the schedule was so stressful for me that it made my period late. Worrying I was pregnant just stressed me out more. Not being able to treat this Probably ADHD has been detrimental to my mental health.
On the 22nd, I’m going to have a telehealth meeting with a doctor to see if I can get a referral for a screening. I kind of worried that if I do get diagnosed with ADHD it would send me into this mourning state of what-could-have-been but honestly... I’m tired. I’m tired of beating myself up for exhausting myself into keeping up with other people. I think I owe it to myself to get the help that I need. Looking at my life with the lens of I Probably Have ADHD has actually given me a renewed sense of self-worth and confidence because it’s something that I can learn how to take control of. It’s worth it. I’m worth it.

How I optimised my social media for my mental health
cw: this blog post contains references to food, fitness and dieting culture.
youtube
A few years ago I was working for a chain bookstore over the festive period, mostly on the tills serving customers and occasionally dealing with enquiries and shelving. There was blissfully minimal phone answering too. Bookshops tend to stay pretty busy after Christmas with sales, folks coming in to buy something to read in their remaining time off and to buy dieting books. When I clocked in to take my shift on Boxing Day, there had already been a table of dieting and fitness bibles set up, all on two-for-one deals. Whilst I’m sure this table was set up on corporate instruction, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Bookshops are by no means safe spaces- they’re a place you should go to look for material that challenges and stretches your beliefs, as well as things to help you relax.  However, I don’t think they’re a place you go to be judged for your lifestyle, especially if you’re just on the way up to grab a muffin and latte with friends in the cafe. In many ways, this is the experience of being on social media in microcosm.
This summer, I had a bit of a meltdown, which I’ve talked about a little before. Without university to occupy me, I became obsessed with going to the gym. When I didn’t see results as quickly as I had in the past, I started to hyperfocus on my appearance and weight. It quickly became clear that I’d got myself into a dark place, so I started going to see one of the counsellors at my university (which is an enormous privilege you should make the most of if you also have access to it). It became clear to me, in talking to my counsellor, that a lot of my problem was down to the space I had curated for myself on social media. The fitness board I maintained on Pinterest meant that the algorithm was constantly generating unattainable bodies, diet foods and problematic motivational statements. From following some of my younger brother’s school friends on Instagram, I began to feel bad about not having the body shape of a teenager anymore. I decided to clear a whole day to go through all my social media and make it as much of a hospitable space for my mental health as possible. I should be clear at this point that this might not necessarily work for you, though I found it to be incredibly helpful. I’m sharing in the hope that it might make a little difference for someone else. I’ll start with the easier social networks and work my way up to the big guns.
Facebook
This one might be more difficult for you depending on how much use you get out of Facebook. Personally, I use it mostly for keeping up with events, messaging friends and updating family members. One thing you can do if you only use it for the latter two is delete the Facebook app and just keep Messenger, that way you have to be on an actual computer to check facebook. If you don’t want to delete the app, then start to take advantage of the mute button. You can go through the hassle of sitting going through your whole friend list, removing people you no longer talk to, see, or are interested in keeping up with (you can let go of some people from school at this point, face it). However, I find that the experience of unfriending people can actually make me feel more anxious.
The best thing I do- and this one isn’t something you can necessarily do in one day- is mute or unfriend as I scroll down my feed. If someone I once met in a job I had four years ago starts posting offensive and ill-informed political memes to my feed, that’s their time to go. If a friend’s mum posts a lot of things about her New Year’s diet, she’s going to get muted for the time being. If a friend posts a photo of her super cute baby, that’s getting a big heart react- give me more of that good shit. A big part of all of this stuff is trying to train your algorithm to show you the stuff you want, even if it fights back.
Twitter
First huge bit of advice- block all the bigoted reactionaries. That’s your Piers Morgans, Katie Hopkinses, Julia Hartley-Brewerses and that girl who worships guns. This isn’t me openly advocating shutting yourself out of political discourse, or creating some kind of political echo chamber for yourself.  It’s just starving people who thrive on outrage of the attention they crave. I don’t care if you have a witty rebuttal. They don’t deserve your attention, views or clicks. Try to find professional journalists, politicians, and pundits whose expertise you can trust and who conduct themselves ethically and responsibly, rather than trying to just get clicks for their work. Also, read whole articles and think pieces rather than just the headlines. Headlines are often written to stir up outrage over something that just isn’t outrageous.
Find tweeters who make you laugh, make good art and whose voices you’d like to amplify.
Instagram (and Tumblr)
Now we’re getting into the heavy lifters. It seems to me that the more image-dense the platform, the worse it can be for your mental health, especially if your mental health is tied up in your body image. Instagram and Tumblr might be the platforms to be most cutthroat with. What you decide to do with this one is really deeply personal, but I would suggest going with your gut and unfollowing and muting anything that makes you feel less than, no matter how nice the person running it seems. My first call was to unfollow more or less everyone who’s ever breathed in the general vicinity of a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. A lot of these models seem to be lovely women, but their lifestyles and bodies are the definitions of unattainable. The one exception I make to this rule is Chrissy Teigen because her content is all about earnestly enjoying food, family and travel. Plus, she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Instagram also has a useful feature that allows you to mute stories, posts or both at your own discretion. That way if there’s someone you follow who posts great travel photos but is always talking about weight loss in their stories, you can filter out that content and keep what you like. I found that, personally, having fewer bodies in my line of sight is for the best. I like to maximise the presence of delicious food, cute animals and uplifting messages I follow. Here are some favourites:
Nigella Lawson
Shila and Eddie the Pomeranians
withlovelinh
Hannah Witton
Demi Adejuyigbe
Pinterest
This is the daddy of all the image-based platforms. Whilst probably the least popular of all the platforms listed here, it probably has the most potential to do harm. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest. It is one of the most easily spaces online and the fact that it is image focused means that there is very little text involved, so it’s an ocean of calm compared to a platform like Twitter. However, it also has what might possibly be the most reactive algorithm of any platform. This is broadly a helpful tool, allowing you to locate the exact material you’re looking for, but it can really double down on any harmful material you put into it. It’s the internet’s worst enabler. In this sense, spring cleaning it is work. I got rid of my fitspo board and replaced it with one more focused on self-care. This didn’t mean getting rid of all my fitness-focused stuff- I still pin specific exercise routines- but I don’t pin #bodygoals stuff now.  A very important part of changing this is being conscientious of what I am choosing to repin. Specifically, I have to ask myself
“Do I really like this hair/ makeup/ clothing, or do I just want to look like the model?”
If the answer is no, I will ask Pinterest to remove it from my feed. Pinterest also has a zero-tolerance policy for content that encourages eating disorders and self-harm so you can report anything like that. Whilst Pinterest will continue to show you things after you have deleted the boards you can, over time, train it to show you more of the things you want to see. I’ve finally got it to a point where I’m seeing things that make me feel bad far less frequently.
All of this is work and requires a conscious effort from yourself to remove things that are harmful before they get to you. This system isn’t perfect and you will continue to see garbage some of the time. It is still possible to optimise what you’re seeing in order to feel less anxious and down on yourself. Do keep in mind, that it’s just a small part of your life and that if you are genuinely concerned about your mental health to talk to a professional if that is something you are able to access. Also, this isn’t an alternative to minimising your screentime, which we should probably all try to do a little more.
Happy new year!

Garanimals: Social Media Usage
Dear Garanimals,
I think it’s time for another chat, this one focusing on how tightly you’re embracing social media. Though you exist in a lot of different mediums, which is great, for most of your platforms, the hug is lukewarm. I’ve compiled a list of your sites and per this academic exercise, will discuss how you use social media well and what you could do to enhance the experience of current and future followers.
Facebook.  Right off, I was engaged. The cover photo is a continuous looping video story that shows happy kids playing in Garanimals fashion. The Our Story section is nicely placed at the top right to learn more about Garanimals origins and is accompanied by another video. And yes, a 1.4 million following is not too shabby but according to the latest in Key Performance Indicators, a more reliable measure is how engaged your audience is with you, in the form of likes, comments, and reshares. The good news is that Facebook has the highest level of engagement with your followers. For example, within 24 hours, a photo of a girl’s shirt with a kitty in a tutu garnered 1, 100 likes, 85 loves, 13 comments, and 20 shares. On the down side, of all the positive comments, you chose to take the opportunity to respond to only one directly. It would have been better to respond to all about the slew of positive comments to cement that social engagement with your followers.
Tumblr media
One of the more effective ways to use digital marketing is to make sure your existing followers are engaged because this is how new people are encouraged to join. The posts only occur Monday – Friday during business hours so Garanimals must take advantage of the optimum time to post on this platform. You do combine both photos with fun background graphics but there is not enough diversity in your engagement (more on that in the next blog where I look specifically at content).
Instagram. 51, 800 followers. You are doing fun stuff with colorful graphics but oh dear, this November 19 Instagram post leaves a lot to be desired in terms of how little care is given to the visual presentation with their social media. Wake up!
Tumblr media
I recommend minimizing the use of Shop the Look posts, which display multiple clothing items to build an outfit, since that is more suited for your Pinterest account. On Instagram, limit these types of posts to seasonal and holiday ideas, which you would of course duplicate exactly on your Pinterest, which culls together multiple items to build an outfit, to seasonal and holiday ideas and leave Shop the Look posts to their Pinterest account and include Walmart links directly to the main item presented.
Pinterest. When I searched for “Garanimal”, Walmart-linked products were not prominent. Of the first page results, 2/3 of the Walmart-linked products were no longer available or out of stock, which shows Garanimals is not:
-- Pinning regularly and
-- Removing expired merchandise pins.
This also invites your brand to more criticism since a bad review will most likely reach the top of search engine results pages if you are not posting (and hashtagging). At least you include a direct link to the item on the Walmart site but please refresh your merchandise on this page and remove expired offerings because you are losing business on Pinterest to the majority eBay resellers who were included in the first page of results. And their merchandise is active and ready to buy! Include Call to Action buttons on each outfit story that says Shop These Looks. As a visual medium, Pinterest is of prime interest to parents wanting to see new kid clothes and how they look and since much of the audience is female, it’s important to keep this updated. (Draper, 2018)
Twitter. The lack of content, and Monday through Friday posting continues with this platform, one built for words and small photos and quick videos. It doesn’t surprise me that there are 2,615 followers and very little to no social engagement on either end. It’s November and the banner photo still says 2018 Fall Line. It should say 2018-2019 Fall Winter line to at least keep up with the actual season and uh, how about get rid of that entirely and say Warm Holiday Looks. The everyday and couture fashion world has already put out its Sprint 2019 line but it isn’t relevant to the Garanimals buyer because the concern is keeping their kids warm for the Fall and Winter season. So express this!
Tumblr media
YouTube. All videos are one to two years old. I think this is not as effective a medium as Snapchat would be since YouTube doesn’t engage the young age group Garanimals serves.

Story Links and Deep Thoughts
So just in case you haven’t seen it this summer, I started a new Dawsey fanfic and it’s actually going really well (UPDATE: Story is now complete!). I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback which has been so encouraging for me. That story is now completely done but I all ready have plans for another one to write in conjunction with the new CF season (if I’m not gonna get any good Dawsey on the show, then I sure as heck am gonna write some, both for myself and for the other fans) and I’m super excited about tackling that story. I’m going to post the links to both stories here and this Tumblr post will be pinned on my Twitter profile page.
You are the Reason: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12944940/1/You-Are-the-Reason-A-Dawsey-Fanfic
Luckiest Souls: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13065660/1/Luckiest-Souls
Hopefully you guys are interested in reading that second story because I cannot wait to start putting that one together! The outline for it is all ready over 3 pages long if that tells you how much thought and love is going into it, LOL ;)
I also need to post a rant about some things that have been bothering me this summer. This is gonna be long so bear with me while I try to put all my thoughts together. There are two parts to this rant and I apologize now if none of this makes any sense. I think I just need to get it all out of my system.
A.  Since when does everything happen in absolutes? This has been on my mind a lot lately as I continue to process the thought of watching CF without Gabby Dawson. There are so many people that seem to think she’s never coming back and I can’t quite figure out how they got there. I don’t live in that sort of absolute world and I know from being a fan of TV for a very long time that the TV world can be fluid and also very uncertain. This could turn out to be a rambling rant of unreadable garbage regarding CF but I need to get it all out (this is rant number one).
First off, here are just a few reasons that I came up with to completely dispute the theory that Monica is never coming back to CF (I seriously cannot figure out how people got there…)
1.    Monica didn’t leave on bad terms: We have absolutely no reason to believe that she hates the show, hates the network (heck, she’s on this big directing initiative thing with the SAME network so clearly she has no issues with them), or hates her coworkers. She’s been in touch with Derek off and on since she left and we saw her recently return to Chicago and attend a concert with some of the other One Chicago ladies. Why on earth would she not be receptive to coming back? That makes no sense to me. If she had cut everyone out of her life or something then I might believe it but she didn’t so that makes no sense.
2.    This Director’s Initiative is only for one year:  This director’s program is only for one TV season so it won’t keep her busy for longer than that and quite frankly, I feel like it could open the door more for her to come back in S8. She’s mentioned in the past how much she would love to direct an episode of CF and learning and working with another director for a solid year could give her a leg up on getting that opportunity with her old show. I’ve checked around and she doesn’t seem to have any other projects lined up during this gig either and usually when a person leaves a show for good, their project list starts filling up on IMDB and hers hasn’t done that. That’s public information that goes into that database so why wouldn’t she be lining up other things if she’s gone for good?
3.    The Storyline: Gabby and Matt are definitely in a rough place right now but I don’t see it as the final ending that other people seem to see (and honestly, I think the only people who see this as a final ending are the asshats who hate Gabby and just want her gone…they’re seeing what they want to see and not what’s actually happened). I can easily see Gabby needing time to process the news that she shouldn’t get pregnant because of the risk to her own life because that is a HUGE deal to women. She’s been yearning for a family with Matt since they lost their baby in S4 and now someone is basically taking that away from them. That is a freaking GIGANTIC blow to this little family. Heck, I’m in my early 40s right now and I’m constantly wondering if being a mom will ever be in my future (i.e. my age now makes it riskier to get pregnant, plus I’m not even dating anyone right now and I won’t have a baby without a husband). That isn’t something that’s easy for women to process and Gabby is such a strong willed and passionate person that being told she can’t or shouldn’t get pregnant is a hard pill to swallow. We saw how much she wanted to give Matt a baby, it’s the one thing he’s wanted his whole life, and how she didn’t care how risky it was….she was going to give that to him no matter what. She’s not seeing things beyond that and Matt isn’t seeing things beyond the possibility of losing her which IMO, has caused them to talk AT each other more than talk TO each other. Time apart is not a bad thing for these two to process the shock and sadness of that baby news and I would understand completely if it takes Gabby a while to come to grips with it because I haven’t come to grips with my own issues yet (and I don’t even have any female problems). If the writers thought that Monica was never going to come back, they would have killed Gabby off IMO because it would be the only way to get Matt to move on at some point. Keeping her alive, the fact that they’ve done research about long distance relationships, and having Matt still processing everything himself screams to me that they have a long term story that they still want to tell and are putting things on hold with the hope of getting her back someday to finish it right. Derek admitted recently that he knows he messed up her exit back in the spring….I can see him not wanting to give up on their story so easily and again, the fact that he’s spoken to her a few times since she left the show should give us hope that she wouldn’t be opposed to coming back to complete Dawsey’s story. And seriously, Monica is such a passionate, intelligent, and creative person herself…do you honestly think she would be okay with her character being left in such a bad place? This season will tell us more as it goes on because if they keep her and Matt together long distance for S7, then I will absolutely believe that she’s coming back sooner rather than later. We will have to wait and see on that one but she’s not dead guys…she’s just in PR. (I’ll refrain from going on my rant about how military families have to deal with long distance stuff all the time and how those couples don’t just give up on their marriages when they go through hard stuff or are apart for a while. There’s definitely a way they could tell a Dawsey story without having Monica around and I will be watching intently to see if they actually do this or not. The lazy story is to just end them and throw Matt into something else at some point but the challenging and more interesting story is to figure out this long distance thing and get Monica back at some point so my preference is for them to go that way. Again, we’ll have to wait and see though.)
4.    The fanbase is a little fragile right now: This might seem like a weird reason but bear with me for a moment. Dawsey fans are on edge because we don’t know the details of how they’re going to handle this whole story. Dawsey haters are all dancing because their most hated character isn’t there and they seem to think that Matt will just jump into another relationship like two weeks into the season. General CF fans are on edge because the writing was lazy at times in S6 and storylines are getting repetitive. The show’s ratings have been way down from what they were on Tuesday nights and now they’re the show that got sandwiched right between the other two Chicago shows for this upcoming season. I firmly believe that NBC did this on purpose because the fanbase is so fragile right now and they’re worried about ratings. You piss off the Dawsey fans and you’re gonna lose a giant chunk of your audience. You piss off the non Dawsey fans and you’re gonna lose a different chunk of your audience. If you keep telling the SAME stories in different ways over and over again, your audience is still going to shrink because the general fans that don’t really ship anyone will jump off the bandwagon and move on as well. This show cannot afford to lose more fans and I’ve seen a lot of posts on social media or online articles from both Dawsey fans and general show fans who all ready won’t be watching S7 for the two reasons I shared earlier in this paragraph. CF has to be really careful with how they tell their stories in S7 because from what all I can see, if they don’t pay attention to this sort of thing, then they’re gonna be in genuine danger of not getting a S8. BTW-The other thing I’m seeing from the fanbase is apathy which is the WORST thing that can happen to a show. When fans stop caring, they stop watching and CF is in danger of that too as people lose trust in the writers to create something worth watching. This will definitely be an interesting year for the show and as annoyed as I still am with that S6 finale, I don’t want the show to fail (I still genuinely like all the actors and people there) but I also won’t watch a show that doesn’t entertain me anymore. I’ve quit shows that were on my all-time favorites list before and I won’t hesitate to drop CF like a rock if they stop entertaining me this season.
5.    Monica’s note: “See you on the ice.” When I read the message she posted on Twitter earlier this summer, that phrase stuck out to me like a sore thumb because I had no clue what it meant. Well, it turns out it means something very interesting. From Urban Dictionary:
“Something you say when you know there is going to be a long period of time before seeing someone again however the intention is that day will come.”
Monica doesn’t just write or share things for no reason. She’s not stupid and maybe this is just my opinion, but I think that was her way of telling her fans that she doesn’t plan to be gone forever and that we will see her on the show again someday. I have no idea when that someday will come (I’m gonna be bold and predict that she comes back at the end of S7 so that Casey can actually have a good cliffhanger for once) but the proof of a possible return is right there on her note IMO and I choose to believe that she does have every intention of returning someday.
DISCLAIMER: I totally understand if there are people out there who don’t agree with all my thoughts here and that’s fine. This is all my opinion and the the last time I checked, I was allowed to have one without being ridiculed or being treated badly. This fanbase has had some bad apples out there treating people horribly simply because they don’t share the same opinion and boy does that need to stop. No one deserves to be treated badly simply because they have a different point of view than someone else. “Do undo others as you would have them do unto you.”
B. The other thing that’s been bothering me this summer is harder for me to talk about but I’m going to try to put my thoughts into words now. This will be rant number two but this is more of a confession than an actual rant.
I have been struggling hard to process this whole CF thing with Monica leaving and what that’s going to do with my OTP but that struggle has been more of a personal nature than anything else. That Dawsey fight and finding out about Monica leaving hit me deep in a place that I hadn’t felt since OUAT killed off Neal years ago. Normally I can deal with changes to my TV shows or when people come and go pretty well but this was literally my only OTP left and watching it fall apart in the finale was beyond difficult. I’m still struggling with it all these months later to be honest and that’s become a big concern for me.
Why does this affect me so much? Its a fictional TV show, with fictional people, and it just isn’t that important in the grand scheme of life. Yet I find myself thinking about it often and the emotional reaction I had to it actually woke up my creative side and now has me writing fanfic just so I can fix the mess that CF left behind (I do love writing but I hadn’t felt compelled to do it in nearly a decade so that caught me off guard even though I find myself enjoying it). It bothers me that I’m so affected by a stupid TV show and I have found myself wishing that I could turn my heart off so I can just forget about it and move on. That would make life so much easier (and I’m truly envious of people who are able to watch TV and just not care that much about anything that happens there). Unfortunately I can’t do that though and now, all these months later, I’m not sure I want to do that anymore.
Perspective is a funny thing and I’ve been getting a lot of lessons in that this summer from things that are happening to the lives in people I consider some of my best friends. One of my closest friends has basically been watching her mother die of pancreatic cancer for over five years (mom has been going through chemo and other sorts of treatments and this year has been particularly hard). Earlier this year they thought they were going to lose her and it was a scary and emotional time for all of us wondering about mom’s condition. They went on a family vacation in July and things seemed to be improving but about two weeks ago, mom ended up back in the hospital to get fluid taken off her heart again and she made the decision to stop all of her treatments. The doctors told them that she might have about two months left, if even that, so now the family has to deal with all these emotional choices and my friend is struggling because of all those decisions that they have to make now. I’m doing my best to support her but its hard because I’m such a passionate and emotional person so while trying to be strong, I’m also hurting for her and her family (I’ve known her mom for a while and she’s one of the sweetest and kindest people out there). In addition to that news, I also found out this week that another of my best friends is about to lose an uncle to cancer and not only is that hard because it’s her dad’s brother and it’s all happened so suddenly, it’s also rough on the rest of her family because of a bunch of drama going on with some other family members. Its really quite a mess and I just saw her tonight so I could see how much it’s taking out of her to be there for her dad while worrying about her uncle’s health. I also have a sister in my Christian women’s sorority who is dying of cancer (she’s in hospice right now) and that’s been emotionally breaking me since I’ve known that sweet lady since I was in college years ago. She is by far one of the most precious ladies I’ve ever known and seeing her struggle just hurts my heart along with all my other sisters hearts too. I don’t know how much longer she has but it’s very likely that we won’t see her at our national council next summer and that thought is hard for me to process since she’s been there ever since I joined the group. Real life has definitely been tough this summer and I’ve been stuck in this emotionally draining place going back and forth between processing things in my real life and in my TV fandom.
This brings me back to the CF mess and two questions that I’ve been asking myself all summer: 1. Why am I letting this fictional show mess me up so much when there are SOOOO many other more important things I should be concerned about, and 2. How do I get past this so I can truly be there for my friends and family that need me. I wish I had some answers but I don’t have any right now. I don’t think this is something I can get past in the blink of an eye. I can’t just turn off my heart because that wouldn’t allow me to be there for those who need me and I still haven’t come to grips with how the show is going to change so the struggle continues for me. As a person of faith, I know I should be lifting these things up in prayer but I find myself unable to put things into words. I know I’m not the only one trying to figure out how to move forward after getting so invested in a fictional story and that actually helps because I know it’s not just me. This probably sounds silly to those of you who are able to turn your hearts off and move forward (and I have no problem with that...more power to you) but it’s something I’ve been working through this summer and all I can hope now is that I find some peace at some point before the TV season starts.
I’m not sure what all I wanted to accomplish by posting all of this stuff but I really felt compelled to share it just in case anyone else is feeling the same way that I do. Please know you’re not alone in feeling a bit lost, emotional, confused, frustrated, and wishing for some peace and a happy ending regarding the CF mess and I hope you all know that you can reach out to me if you want to talk about anything. I’m just a message or a tweet away. Thanks as always for reading one of my epicly long posts! =)
/end rant (and more power to you if you actually read this entire post)

RECENT NEWS, RESOURCES & STUDIES, late April 2020
Tumblr media
I hope everyone is well, and staying safe. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown most of us off track in many areas, and for me, this blog was one of them. After a tumultuous few months, I have finally found the energy to edit this down - it is both way behind in some areas and overwhelmingly dense in others.
The good news is that I plan on posting every week for the next little while, to provide more timely updates. That will sometimes mean more news and fewer “how-to” pieces, and some sections may be omitted some weeks. If there are topics you would find helpful during these uncertain times, please let me know.
Hang in there, and remember to take care of yourself! We can get through this.
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
COVID-19 Pandemic: For information on how various ecommerce entities are dealing with it, see below:
Etsy has a basic seller Help article (which they do update with new developments), and a larger collection of articles that includes data on current buying trends as well as info on how to sell masks on Etsy.
eBay has an overview page linking to seller info including price gouging rules and shipping updates, as well as buyer info on purchases. They have also opened the “Up and Running” program to help small businesses moving online for the first time. Finally, they have offered free listings to different types of sellers, and just extended that program until the end of July.
Amazon’s daily update page on COVID-19 developments, including charitable behaviour by the company, doesn’t even include third party sellers as a party they are concerned about. They’ve taken heavy criticism for firing a union activist, improper handling of virus outbreaks at its facilities, while not doing much for merchants since the site is over capacity. They were so overwhelmed that they limited Fulfilled by Amazon orders to essential goods only in March, leaving many merchants with no income.
Etsy CEO Josh Silverman is also lobbying for government support for self employed people such as ecommerce sellers, freelancers, contract workers etc. (unlike in some countries such as Canada, most self-employed Americans aren’t eligible to pay into employment insurance plans, something Silverman is asking for.) Here’s a video clip of Silverman being interviewed on the topic on Fox. He followed up with a letter to the EU. Etsy also started the “Stand With Small” Campaign to support small businesses, but their forum thread went so poorly they had to delete most of the replies & lock it. They’ve also launched new commercials for the pandemic era
Many small businesses are still in dire straights right now. Here are lists of artist/self-employed/small business supports, including funding and services, for Canadians and Americans. Etsy has also compiled the basic government benefit info for the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Canada. If you know of any other similar or more comprehensive resource lists, please let me know!
ETSY NEWS
By now you have heard that the Etsy Offsite Ads that many of us were supposed to start paying for April 14 have been delayed until May 1, but I have covered the basics in the first post and the highlighted posts here. (No, they are not investing $5 million in offsite ads this month; the $5 million is the money we would have paid in fees from April 14-30!) Now that Google Shopping will have free listings in the US as of April 27, everything may be up in the air. [I will update this post and my thread with any new information as it becomes available.]
In the aftermath of the outcry over the Offsite Ad fees, Shopify is taking a page out of Zibbet’s old playbook, by emailing Etsy sellers with information on how to migrate your listings from Etsy to a Shopify website. They’ve also posted info in their forum.
In the most recent bad publicity for the platform, Etsy dropped the ball on the mask shortage, then picked up cause (getting some very good publicity) and now many the new mask sellers who oversold are having their money held & are frustrating thousands of buyers with with either poorly-made products or no product at all - well see how much more bad publicity that will bring.. First, the public was looking for masks to protect against COVID-19 on Etsy, and found some that claimed to work. “[M]ore than 200 postings for face masks have sprung up in the past two days [on Feb. 26]...Even as sites like Facebook and Amazon have added links and resources for learning more about COVID-19, Etsy has stayed quiet on any precautionary or educational measures.” An Etsy rep said “While face masks are allowed on Etsy, we prohibit any items that make medical claims. Our team is prioritizing taking down any listings that claim to protect against coronavirus." Etsy eventually realized that this was an opportunity to make money, so they are now encouraging sellers to post masks for sale. That’s getting a lot of positive media attention. “The website is becoming a go-to destination for homemade cloth masks. Etsy says there was an average of one mask-related search on the site every two seconds in March. Last week, more than 10,000 sellers sold at least one mask apiece.” Here’s a piece on Fox news [video and text] and another video, and one on CNBC [video and text].
They are also removing or at least de-indexing (removing from search) listings that mention the virus directly, and even use words such as “medical”, including in sentences such as “this is not a medical-grade mask.” Some sleep masks have been hit as well. Many of the shops were originally back up & running within a day of getting Etsy’s attention, but Trust & Safety is reportedly now backed up two weeks or more on this issue, leaving many sellers out of search and unable to sell.
Some of the shops that have oversold or who received multiple bad feedbacks are now posting their stories in the forum as they look for ways to get their money released. The buyers who never received their purchases are finding these threads & asking what to do.This has the potential to turn out very badly for Etsy, although for the moment, the good coverage continues.
(Mind you, other marketplaces also have to worry about price gouging on things like hand sanitizer, so the bad media isn’t all Etsy’s - but they get mentioned in that article as well. eBay has now gone as far as banning the sale of all hand sanitizer & disinfecting wipes. Meanwhile, Mercari also encouraged sellers to make masks, but is donating 50% of the fees they collect on these sales to a first responders charity until May 31. In short, there are ways to do this without looking greedy.)
Etsy had a decent 4th quarter in 2019; here is my thread, & here is Etsy’s dumbed down take.
They then did an early April update: while March 2020 has been difficult, it was not as bad as many of us might have thought. “...in those moments when people's mindshare is elsewhere, we tend to see a significant drop in traffic to Etsy. We experienced that suddenly and strongly beginning on March 8th. And that hit a low point in the month of March, in the third week of March, when our Consolidated GMS for the week was negative 2%. So to dimensionalize that, we were averaging 41% Consolidated GMS growth in January and February, and it went down to negative 2% in the third week of March. …  So GMS Consolidated in the fourth week of March was up 27% year-over-year, but even in that fourth week, on the Etsy standalone site, we had one day that was a negative 4% day and another day, just a few days later, that was a positive 23% day.”
Note that if you use the auto-renew feature, your items will still renew when in vacation mode.
I now know that  “birth flower jewelry” is a thing, and Etsy is getting 69% more searches for it than last year. Here are some other Etsy jewellery trends, with some suggested search terms.  A few of the tips there, including suggested keyword phrases, are also mentioned in the Mother’s Day Guide.
Etsy also just released an article on what people are shopping for during the pandemic. “Wedding postponements have generated increased traffic for change-the-date cards in paper and digital formats. With many celebrations, including bridal showers, now taking place online, shoppers are looking for items like festive backdrops to embellish their virtual gatherings. 7,311% YoY increase in searches on Etsy containing “date change”
Reverb will now be offsetting the carbon emissions from its shipping, just like Etsy.
If you want to drive traffic to your Etsy listings from Pinterest (through your own account or by being pinned by others), Etsy has some suggestions.
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
The pandemic is changing Google search ranking & visibility; not all of the changes are the predictable ones. For example, “fashion and apparel” went up, even though people weren’t going outside or to work as much.
Temporarily sold out items on your website (not your Etsy shop) need to be handled properly to maintain their SEO value. Some basic tips here.
There are things you can do to improve your chances of having sitelinks show up for your website on Google search result pages.
We talk a lot about backlinks coming into your site, but each page (at least the non-product pages) should probably have outbound links as well. Especially if you are blogging on a topic, remember that “[i]n all forms of publishing, it’s standard practice to cite authoritative, third-party sources to reinforce the points you make.”
Speaking of backlinks, here is how to get them & even how not to get them.
The changes to how Google treats no-follow links started last month, and if you were using no-follow to stop Google from crawling, you need to fix that. Apparently it won’t change ranking much.
There are new guides to keyword research almost every week, but this one from Backlinko is good for both newbies & more experienced folks. (He does make the very common error of stating that long tail keywords are longer phrases, but otherwise it is great.) Good suggestions on judging difficulty: “First, search for your keyword in Google.  Then, look at the sites ranking on the first page. (Not individual pages) If the first page is made up of uber authority sites (like Wikipedia), then you might want to cross that keyword off from your list ...But if you see a handful of smaller blogs on page 1, that’s a sign that you have a shot to hit the first page too.” Seriously, you need to read this one.
And if you still haven't conquered the Google Keyword Planner for keyword research, here are some good tips and basic set-up instructions. Bonus: it also shows you how to use the tool for Google ads.
I’m a big fan of using keyword research/tools for marketing & product ideas, and here is a similar thought: use SEO data to inform your marketing.
When people say Google “crawls” your site, we mean with spiders. Seriously. Ok, they are actually bots, but still, they really are called spiders.
Google’s index will be entirely based on the mobile version of a website by this September. Right now, they are at 70%. If your site doesn’t work well on mobile, you have a few more months to correct that.
Another reminder that generally, you don’t want Google to index your website’s internal search pages.
You probably know that there are ways to optimize images on your website, called alt text, and here is a really good overview of how & why. (Note this doesn’t work for Etsy shops)
Another short video from the Google Webmaster team, this one on 301 redirects.
The usual Google search change rumours are just odd right now.
If you feel you just don’t understand SEO, you can take one of these free online courses to learn more.
(CONTENT) MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA (includes blogging & emails)
The most popular hashtags are not always the best to use; read that & more tips on using hashtags on social media here.
You don’t actually have to come up with blog post ideas yourself; there are multiple tools that can do it for you [infographic and text links]
An annual report on social media [text with a pdf download to your email account] finds that engagement is down on Instagram, contests & giveaways are the most popular brand posts, and “Carousels” get good attention on Instagram.
Email marketing is still one of the best ways to reach your customers; here’s what you need to think about as you design your campaigns, and how to get started. Every target market is different, so you should consider using A/B testing in your emails to figure out what yours responds to.
Some interesting ideas for using Instagram Stories for market research.
Did you know you can edit your photos right within Instagram? (it starts with filters but moves to other editing)
Pinterest has a bunch of new features for retailers, including verified merchants, catalogues and ad retargeting. 60% of US women look at Pinterest at least occasionally, including 80% of mothers. But you might be surprised at what some of them are looking for: e.g., “Searches for how to ask for a raise at work are up 254%.” If you don’t know how to get more followers on Pinterest, check out this article.
WhatsApp got caught with bad coding, allowing private groups to be indexed by Google. Don’t forget they are owned by Facebook.
LinkedIn is testing their own version of Stories. So is Twitter.
ONLINE ADVERTISING (SEARCH ENGINES, SOCIAL MEDIA, & OTHERS)
Yes, there are reasons you might want to buy online ads for your business/brand name.
If you do your own Google Ads, you will want to learn more about the new “optimization Score”.It gives you tips on parts of your Ads account you should work on to get better results.
Also, you can find out more about how buyers behave after finding your ads through the Google Ads Attribution Report.
If you are looking to spend money on ads, this comparison of Google Ads to Facebook/Instagram ads gives you a lot to think about.
If Google won’t run your ads because it says they are for low-volume keywords, there are ways to fix the problem.
While Facebook’s overall traffic is way up lately due to COVID-19, their ads are not, partially because they don’t run on some of its most popular features such as Messenger.
STATS, DATA, OTHER TRACKING
If you buy your own Google Ads, make sure to link them to your Google Analytics account to get the most data. Download the pdf of instructions written by Google.
If you have fairly advanced knowledge of Google Analytics and coded it into your own website, here are 13 mistakes you might have made. [Don’t even read that unless you have some knowledge of coding websites. I’m not joking.]
Here’s an easier Google Analytics article for websites, much of which even applies to Etsy shops.
Here’s an easy way to use Google Analytics to track your promotions, sales and ad campaigns. Some promotional tools do this for you, but not all.
The Google Search Console now lets you download more data.
There is a new stats program out called Plausible, which is simpler than Google Analytics & should not slow down your site as much. For those of you who don’t want tons of data & don’t like the cookie issues with GA, Plausible makes a compelling argument for you here.
ECOMMERCE NEWS, IDEAS, TRENDS
The pandemic has helped consolidate Amazon’s position as the top ecommerce marketplace in many jurisdictions, and it is the only one that is trending upward in Google searches. As of March 24, searches for “Etsy” dropped 30%. (but I don’t think that is an indication that traffic dropped that amount - it may be less or more, depending on what percentage of buyers usually Google “Etsy”.)
Shopify launches were up 75% in the second week of April compared to the first week of March, in part due to many brick and mortar stores moving online. [While they are replacing in-person shopping, those new shops also increase our ecommerce competition - and some might stay online even once their physical locations reopen.]
USPS is in financial trouble, and the pandemic is not helping. That affects everyone who ships to the US, not just US sellers.
Walmart is working on a membership program similar to Amazon Prime. It may open soon, and “[p]erks could include unlimited same-day delivery on groceries and text-based shopping, the latter of which Walmart has tested through its now-defunct Jet Black shopping service. Later, prescription drug and gas discounts, and scan and go services, could be part of the program, according to Recode...Walmart has also unveiled a new third-party fulfillment service for its marketplace sellers — again a key feature of Amazon's model.”
Amazon & eBay told the US government they are working really hard to remove fakes from their platforms.
eBay will be expanding its in-house payment system to Canada & Australia this year, making 5 countries in total, after the US, Germany and the UK.
Shiptheory, a newer shipping integration, now includes Etsy & Squarepsace, in addition to eBay, Shopify and many others. The platform is free for users shipping only 200 orders a month, and has over a dozen carriers (not currently USPS or Canada Post, however).
If you are looking for something to do while sheltering in place, consider editing some of your product descriptions to drive more sales. If you are stuck for new ideas, it does include a template.
BUSINESS & CONSUMER STUDIES, STATS & REPORTS; SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY, CUSTOMER SERVICE
While some economic indicators dropped substantially in March, things are beginning to pick up in the US in the last half of April. Shopify reported “Black Friday level” numbers for the third week of April, for example. One likely reason is the US stimulus money being spent on non-essentials.
A decent if short overview of what makes people decide to buy things: “Shopping activates the brain’s reward centers, causing a rush of the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine” and “68 percent of millennial shoppers will make a reactive purchase as a result of FOMO” (fear of missing out).
People are more likely to buy if you offer easy (or even free) returns. Yes, I realize most of us aren’t able to offer free returns, but the thinking behind this is worth reading about, because it is one of the advantages larger companies have over businesses like ours. We all need to be aware of our disadvantages, so we can counter them. “A December 2018 survey shares how a whopping 88 percent of shoppers want the ability to return their purchases, if desired, either by taking them to a physical store or using a shipping method that’s prepaid.” Also, “...the more liberal you are with your return policy, the more confident you will likely appear about the products you sell.”
There are now around 2 billion websites in the world, & 20 million ecommerce sites (although that was pre-pandemic). Make sure you know how to get customers and how to keep them coming back. (With some links to studies.) One of their 7 points is also return policy. It’s important, folks!
When developing your marketing and advertising plans, make sure you think about your buyers’ location. For example, some things are just going to be more popular in certain areas.
More and more shoppers are ok with buying on social media instead of marketplaces & other websites. [study by Poshmark] Another interesting takeaway: “Gen Z closets are made up of 16.5% secondhand items, the most of any generation measured, followed by Gen X (14%), millennials (12.5%) and baby boomers (9.5%).”
Meanwhile, if you want to know more about millennials, here are 34 stats and facts you may be interested in.
MISCELLANEOUS (including humour)
With many workplaces asking employees to stay home due to the coronavirus, we’ve been seeing a lot more pieces on how to work from home effectively. This one is pretty good.
LinkedIn has made several of their remote working courses available for free, including time management and various electronic tools.
Doing more video chats lately? Here’s how to look good on a webcam.
Understandably, Google cancelled its usual collection of April Fools jokes this year. Which leads me to this article on how to market during a pandemic, and this one.
And here’s how to keep your customers afterwards. “Temporarily shift from the “fewer sales, higher profit” mentality to helping as many consumers as you can. That means focusing on orders more than revenue. Consumers are presumably putting off big-ticket purchases during Covid-19, anyway. Thus it makes sense to embrace smaller orders from first-time buyers to enable a long-term relationship.”

When antis are too lazy to research & you gotta do their homework for them.
Masterpost of current fuckery (still missing some stuff)
Still think Lord Pastel Lance is reaching? (If you want direct links, shoot us a BLOOD tribute/ask. We used screenshots so you can’t pull the “lol who cares about your link sources bye” card.)

The infamous Shalluragate happens after Wondercon reveals that Allura is a teenager & not an adult. Antis implode & start mass-deleting all their Shallura content. The “Allura is a lesbian” movement is started in response to this: as antis had used Shallura’s “diversity” before as a weapon against Shaladins. Now, they’re using lesbian Allura as their new tool of performative wokeness against the evil “racist” shippers. Shitllurans make up tons of excuses to ship shallura while still attacking & harassing shaladins for being “nasty”. A petition is started to get the ages from the staff (which fails). (1)
Hypocritical anti causes a PR scandal for an Anime Convention. (1, 2)
An adult anti chases after an underaged Shaladin even after the Shaladin blocks them for being creepy. (1, 2)
The adult anti makes a different account blog & sucks up to an adult Shaladin to try to get that Shaladin to tell the minor that the anti made an apology post. (1)
The adult anti gets tired of being ignored & goes to an underaged minor anti to be comforted.
Tumblr media
Antis later put the minor on the Shaladin block list instead of protecting the minor from the creepy adult anti. (1)
Klance14 (an anti) tries to blackmail Studio Mir over the Voltron photo leaks. Antis & Klancers refuse to do anything about it & try to pin the blame on Shaladins without any proof. (1)
[Fairymatsu, the troll with like a hundred other accounts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
IMPORTANT NOTE: They are neither an anti or a shaladin. They are a troll with a long history of harassing people in other fandoms. If you have received a message like this:
Tumblr media
then that means the account was made by Fairymatsu. Check the archive link on the sidebar of Our blog to see how to avoid them & what Fairymatsu has done. Currently, they’ve escalated to gorespamming.]
Klancer anti blames US for being Fairymatsu & obnoxiously replies to every MirGate post. (1)
Infamous harasser spacerangerpartners/keith-mcclains continues to bother & threaten voice actor Jeremy Shada. (1) NOTE: They have since then apologized & deleted the comments. (But from their attitude when We spoke to them, We do NOT believe that they are actually apologetic about it. They seem more mad that they were caught & called out on it rather than actually being sorry for it).
Tumblr media
StrawGate, in which tons of antis attack Bex-TK over a few joke comments & she finally snaps back. (1)
Operation Shalanonymous: in which 2 underaged Shaladins expose leaks from an allegedly “child-safe” anti discord filled with Shaladin porn, cyberstalking, sexual harassment & death threats towards minors & ignoring an actual rape blog. Antis later tried to do damage control by claiming that the minor had sent them all rape footage in an attempt to traumatize them & that the screenshots were taken out of context. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
[Fairymatsu, the troll with like a hundred other accounts, impersonates me to harass both antis & shippers. Twice. (First time was the blog shalanonymous).
(1, 2) - first attempt The blog “shalanonymous”
NOTE: Upon contacting that blog, it turned out that it was NOT Fairymatsu, but instead an anti & the whole thing was some sort of inside joke with antis.

(1, 2, 3, 4, 5*, 6, 7*) * - are important posts detailing the harassment]
AnarcheryLesbian (Allura-of-Altea) gets her friends, quiznah & klanced, all Big Name Fan antis, to encourage their followers to harass voltronwlwmonth, a month started by Shaladins. They made up lies about the mod & later Anarchery was exposed that she shipped a pairing of a teen girl with an adult woman in a different fandom & could not tell them apart by age. (Even though it was blatantly obvious). The antis’ month, vld-wlw-month, does not even follow their own rules & had a Broganes prompt at one point.
Starryklance (creator of the Shipper Block List) later made excuses for her saying stuff like “She didn’t know, she doesn’t ship it now” & had the audacity to tag it as “Don’t rush to conclusions & accuse people right away without any proof” even though she, quiznah & klanced had all made false claims about the shaladin mod of voltronwlwmonth. (1, 2, 3, 4)
The Voltron House: how VLD kins abused a toddler in real life & nearly killed a trans teenager IN REAL LIFE. (1)
Antis attack Bex for supporting shaladin ships & for shipping Pance, calling her homophobic slurs & a traitor to the gay community. Fairymatsu calls Bex slurs & antis immediately deny all responsibility. Antis also threaten to physically attack Bex & call Bex a child abuser when she tells them that she’s not afraid of them.
(1)
An anti plagiarizes MisterPoofOfficial’s Sheith fanwork & opens a floodgate for other antis to attack & spam Poof’s page. Meanwhile, the antis constantly crow about how Klance is “sin” because the plagiarized piece was NSFW Klance porn. Interview with Poof was done with permission & the final post was approved by Poof. (1)
for-submissions, an anti, harasses Minty, an underaged shaladin & threatens to report her friends to a British Federal website for reporting cases of child abuse & child rape if she doesn’t give the anti her personal info. The anti refuses to believe that Minty is underaged &, although later apologizes for reporting Minty to that site, later brags about reporting other shaladin blogs to the website. WHICH IS ILLEGAL. (1)
List of antis making death threats at & condoning sending death threats to shaladins, compiled by anti-anti-survivor. (1)
An anti claiming that shaladins should be fed needles like the Taiwanese Undertale artist who nearly died at the convention in England. (1)
Vorgtron & other klantis sexually harass Karen Lance, a real estate agent, verbally online to get her twitter handle @ klance. Vorgtron fakes a hoax where one of their members is arrested by the cops after Karen called the cops, then makes excuses for the hoax, lies about Karen being inactive & repeatedly slanders her online. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Lancestan/Klanti, Lynn, steals $1400 from a McHanzo (Overwatch) charity zine to buy Lance badges & fanmerch for her SECOND Lance-themed ita-bag. The antis make excuses for them, lying that she’s a minor who was Robin-Hooding a bunch of gross “incest” shippers who allegedly infested the zine (rival shippers were not allowed in the zine because it was a McHanzo-ONLY zine). (1, 2, 3)
Update: Lynn fucked people over one last time by sending them poorly made zines with no artist credits & no return address. People are planning on suing her over this. (1)
Vorgtron member brags about forcing the kids she was babysitting to watch Voltron with her & then illegally films them & uploads it online publicly to show the kids talking about how Sheith is “sexual assault” & “Klance is canon & gay” for discourse points. Vorgtron & other antis support her & excuse everything disgusting about it & how she fed the kids lines & misconceptions about sexual assault & Voltron. One member then claims that the people calling them out are worse than the rapist who assaulted them as a kid. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
Antis make jokes about shooting Bex, the VA, & brag about having access to guns. They turn the whole thing into a meme & scream abuse when other people tell them that they could be arrested for making terroristic threats like that. (1, 2)
Anti troll screeches that their 11 year old sister found klance porn & trans Lance stuff on tumblr. This “traumatized” her, ESPECIALLY the trans Lance stuff, & the anti blames the shaladins for this for some reason, hurling death threats everywhere. (1, 2)
Antis make up lies & claim that Minty, from the Shalanonymous wank, was the one who started calling Shiro’s brains “scrambled eggs”. What really happened was that she was QUOTING ANTIS who called him that (one of their many attacks to demonize Shiro in order to make Shaladin ships abusive). They also  claim that they DID report a rapists’ blog after they were traumatized by a rape video of an underaged girl, from a “report this rapist” post that Minty linked them, which would have been impossible because you can’t actually watch the video without PMing the rape blog for the video file first. (1)
Anti tries to remain a pure defender against sheith & shaladin but openly goes gaga for Devilman Crybaby, a series that should have made their heads explode considering the “problematic content” in it. They even try to bar shaladins from the fandom, claiming that the “antis” were there first despite being a 17 year old & the original Devilman manga being made in the 70s. They also attempt to shame & scold the Devilman fandom before getting blasted by both antis & shaladins for being such a hypocrite. Eventually they shut their inbox & went on hiatus.
http://archive.is/isakashi.tumblr.com <- the first 5 pages of their blog in case they delete (showcasing their willful ignorance & them openly ignoring netflix rating systems & being all “well just because i didnt say that it’s not okay for canon to show it, that doesn’t mean that i support it!” about shit) (1, 2, 3)
A Klanti (the same one who wrote the 50k+ “Klance is canon” meta) starts a war against the Korrasami & Bubbeline shippers on twitter for no fucking reason other than to be obnoxious because “Klance is SUPERIOR to Korra x Asami (Legend of Korra) & Bubblegum x Marceline (Adventure Time)”. Put together with misc. anti bullshit like keith-against-sheith claiming that ace headcanons of the paladins is sexualization of minors & sourwolf-wot screeching about “nasty shaladins” sexualizing minors while openly saying that people only ship shaladin because they’re “sick fucks who’ve only been in abusive adult x minor relationships & think that that’s the norm”. They also seem to be okay with Wincest (Supernatural) but think that sheith is incest & used Klance porn as their blog header at one point despite Lance being a minor. (1)
Vldflops, a hate group full of antis, starts reposting people’s art (heith, shaladin, langst) to mock & deride on Instagram, often calling the artist a pedophile & an abuser. They even went so far as to post uncensored photos of REAL SUICIDAL/DEPRESSED PEOPLE slitting their wrists & then had the nerve to “educate them” (in a condescending & insultingly uncaring manner) not to “romanticize self-harm”. They even accused one of the people in the photos of being langstdreams* (which it WASN’T & langstdreams SAW that).
They keep getting reported to instagram, having their accounts deleted & then remaking a new account to continue harassing people (you cannot get them to take down your art because they will insult you if you DM them & make up a fake abuse backstory to get you to feel bad about “harassing” them).
They even went so far as to encourage their followers to cyberstalk & send death threats to people & when one victim said that they were going to commit suicide, vldflops immediately posted cropped (in a biased way) screencaps of the DMs on their instagram & cried to their followers about how their victim was giving them anxiety by trying to commit suicide over a ship. (Which is 100% a lie & vldflops has gone back to harassing those same people AGAIN).
https://huntypastellance.tumblr.com/tagged/vf
*langstdreams is a shipper who had been harassed & stalked by antis who repeatedly told them to kill themselves & deliberately misgendered them. (1)
Barlee is harassed by antis because she drew art of Shiro & Keith & called them bros. The antis attempted to throw the shaladins under the bus until Barlee clarified that it was the hundreds of Broganes comments from antis that caused her to lock the post’s comments. (1)
Kihyun Ryu also gets spammed by the antis on all the blatantly romantic Sheith art he drew on his instagram. He also received hate on his memorial art, for a friend & Studio Mir coworker who passed away in a car accident, from antis who claimed that the art was fatphobic & disgusting because Hunk was drawn serving food. Antis also accused him of being racist by coloring Hunk too pale, which is a huge fucking lie. (1, 2, 3, 4) - album showing the hate comments will be compiled on imgur soon!
Klantis illegally record Jeremy Shada accidentally breaking his NDA at an autograph signing (he spoiled some stuff about future seasons) & upload footage of it online, titling it as “Jeremy confirms canon Klance!”. It is literally nothing like that & now Jeremy is in legal trouble. Antis ignore this (other than the few who deleted the footage & posts of it) & celebrate Jeremy “escaping Lauren’s basement to confirm that Klance is canon”. They openly tweet at Lauren that Jeremy hates her & is “Klance cannon king”. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Antis bring up an old post about Josh from a whole year ago & start making fake accounts of him on twitter claiming that he is a pedophile & sending him & his family death threats. They harass him NONSTOP for 2 whole days & continue this even when he reports their accounts. Josh ends up caving to the antis & they openly celebrate his surrender, make fake apologies or excuses (”they’re just meme vines, not REAL death threats!”) for their behavior & continue to send him MORE death threats.
This leads to a tremendous amount of antis either doubling down on their “right” to send Josh & his family death threats or claiming that they had no idea that any of this was happening despite openly supporting their friends (who were sending the threats) & constantly shittalking the cast & defending people sending them threats for over a whole DAMN YEAR. (Check the Bex knife threats to see examples of that.)
(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
Update: A sheith shipper made an anti block list after this blew up only for antis to attack & stalk her by claiming that being on the list opened them up to attacks & gave them anxiety. They apparently completely forgot about the MULTIPLE inaccurate lists that they made about shaladins & that HAVE been used to attack shaladins in the past. Some antis also threw a fit because they weren’t “antis” anymore & were outraged that they were on the list (real ex-antis were only mildly annoyed). Some antis even bragged that they should be on the list, basically admitting that they supported the same people who sent Josh Keaton death threats. (1, 2)
Afterwards, many antis claimed that antis who send death threats to people aren’t welcome in the fandom & made posts claiming that Shaladins were equally in the wrong. However, those same antis have been documented sending death threats to people, too. (1)
Anti accuses Lauren of “queerbaiting” the fandom with Klance & says that she should drive her “Klance-fueled car” off a cliff & calls her a cunt. (1)
Another anti whines about Lauren talking with a Sheith shipper at a convention & threatens to scream “Broganes” at her to ruin the conversation while accusing them of being incest-loving pedophiles (that last part is implied). (1)
Joaquim talks about ships being like “forbidden fruit” & Klantis immediately take his quote out of context to make it sound like he was homophobic & attacked him until he apologized & clarified his statement, something that he shouldn’t have had to do. (1)
Insane klanti tricks their klanti friend into stealing a Sheith fan-edit (telling them that it was from the show) & letting the friend photoshop it into a Klance edit. After the klanti was accused of art theft, their friend ditched them & threw them to the shaladins because who would believe that someone would be so douchey as to trick their friend like that? (1)
Klantis harass Jeremy Shada on instagram for saying that “Keith & Lance have a brotherly relationship” in an interview. (1)
Anti harasses 2 adult Sheith cosplayers over their lap dance at an 18+ con & claims that they’re harassing the Shiro cosplayer because “they hate black people”. (1)
Kihyun Ryu’s art gets attacked by antis for being too “Sheith-y”. (1)
An anti by the name of bluepaladinstan harasses an underaged VLD cosplayer on twitter for being a shaladin. The harassment has been going on for MONTHS. (1)
Antis literally defend their racist caricature fanart by saying that the canon skin colors are “too boring” & that anyone who criticizes them is a racist. (1)
Anti admits that they will not confront people in real life over problematic choices (like buying 50 Shades of Grey) but that’s it’s “safer” for them to attack people online, despite this having less impact than doing it irl (because they really don’t care that much about their own cause - they’re a coward). (1)
Anti makes up bullshit story about how fanfiction led her “sweet” friend sexually assault children and pet dogs & how fanfiction is worse than “doing lines of crack cocaine”. (You can’t even do lines of crack cocaine! It’s physically impossible!) (1)
Anti rants about their best friend of 3 years being a Shidge shipper & another anti encourages them to dump their friend. (1)
Anti is so disgusted by Shaladin ships that they became grossed out by their own boyfriend (20) being 2 years older than them until they remembered that they turn 19 in a few months. (1)
Klantis attack the Voltron Cafe event solely because the staff went to an event run by shaladins (despite the event being ship-free). (1, 2)
An anti, keilua, makes a GoFundMe page to take them to Dreamworks HQ to punch the entire staff in the throats. (1)
Antis attack black comic artist for “drawing the VLD comic cover too ugly”. They even celebrate when the cover is pulled (not due to harassment but due to other circumstances). (1)
Sinningpaladin, aka sinpal, abuses antis & uses them to slam Shaladins & gain popularity with a flimsy lie that they were a Dreamworks intern, (claiming that Sheith was disgusting & that Dreamworks intended Klance to be endgame). This isn’t found out (by the antis anyway) until sinpal goes too far with the power the antis gave them. Later, they “apologize” by blaming it on their meds & mental illness. (1, 2)
Antis accuse POC Lance cosplayers in Shamus’ “Lance is Bi” article of brownfacing despite literally being presented a photo of the cosplayers’ faces. They suddenly retreat after the cosplayers themselves refute them on twitter. Meanwhile, an anti doubles down on it & claims that Shaladins using this incident as proof that antis are racist are even MORE racist & that it’s okay for antis to accuse POC of brownfacing so long as they get “educated” about it. They also rant that lightskin POC shouldn’t care about being accused of brownfacing because they will never suffer as much as darkskin POC. (1, 2)
To be added...
They also attack Lion Forge (a POC-run company) over the VLD cover being “whitewashed” despite the fact that it was another company handling the covers & there was no way for Lion Forge to get it fixed. (1, 2)
Klantis make Jeremy’s selfies with his girlfriend all about Klance instead, claiming that the rainbow is proof of Jeremy supporting Klance, (this was an actual rainbow & not the LGTBQ+ flag btw). They also make endless disrespectful jokes about Lauren locking the cast in the basement & drew fanart of that, too.
Klantis draw fanart of Jeremy x Steven for Klance & secretly recorded their white classmates, (claiming that they’re Klance whitesonas because they’re wearing red & blue shirts), while accusing Shaladins of doing the same thing for Sheith. They continue spouting the term “whitesona” with zero irony. (1, 2)

15 Surprising Tips For Next Level Facebook SEO Campaigns
Did you know Facebook is the largest social media platform? With more than 2 billion active users, the social media giant offers an excellent way to get your business in front of a lot of people.
The question for most business owners is how to make sure they have the reach they need. There may be 2 billion users on Facebook, but without optimizing your page, you may as well be invisible to them.
That’s where this guide comes in. With these 15 Facebook SEO tips, you’ll be able to optimize your page and connect with your audience in no time at all.
1. Facebook SEO Is All in the Name
You might not think SEO is all that important to Facebook, but Google does rank Facebook business pages. Don’t forget that Facebook itself also has a search function. If someone is looking for your business, you want them to be able to find you.
The first step to better search engine optimization is always about the name. This is important for your Facebook business page, as there may be competing pages as well.
Give some consideration to your name. You want to craft an accurate name, but one that stands out from the crowd.
You can consider adding some relevant keywords, such as local information, to your page name. Be careful about adding too many keywords. This can look spammy.
Next, think about consistency across your NAP. You want your name, address, and place information to be the same across all platforms. Your Facebook name should reflect this then.
Finally, don’t forget to claim your vanity URL. Instead of allowing Facebook to assign you a generic URL, make it reflect your business. Adding your name is key here.
2. Add a Better Call-to-Action
Next up, think about what you want people to do when they visit your Facebook page. Do you want to direct them to your website?
If you’re using the Facebook page as your primary hub on the Internet, you may not have a separate site to direct them to. That’s okay. Think about what they should do instead.
A restaurant may ask patrons to book a table with them. A service business may advertise free quotes or ask someone to give them a call.
Including a call-to-action is important for SEO. More than that, it’s important for your visitors. It tells them the next steps they should take to buy from you.
3. Claim Unofficial Business Pages
You may find someone has already taken the liberty of starting a page for you! Facebook may have preemptively made the page for you so people could check in or leave reviews.
Unfortunately, you and your team can’t access this page until you claim it. This can cause a few headaches. You may not be able to respond to negative feedback or answer customer questions.
It can also hurt your Facebook SEO. It can definitely create confusion for your would-be customers. They may not know where to post their 5-star review or which page has the most up-to-date information.
To claim a page, you’ll need to submit some information to Facebook. They’ll then verify you. Once you’ve been verified, you’ll want to merge the two pages.
4. Optimize Your About Section
Next up on the list is your About section. This part of your Facebook business page contains crucial information about your business.
You’ll want to include key information, such as contact details. This is the “essential business information.” You’ll also want to add some relevant keywords to the “about” blurb itself.
Remember to keep your NAP consistent across platforms. Your About section should always be up to date.
5. Facebook SEO Uses Keywords
Facebook is a search engine in and of itself. Other search engines also rank Facebook business pages, especially when people are searching by name for a business.
You’ll still want to rank for relevant keywords though. Do some keyword research. Don’t assume that the most popular keywords on Google will be the same ones you need to rank on Facebook.
That’s partially because Google and Facebook use different algorithms. It’s also a result of people searching in different ways on the platforms. People tend to search for specific products, services, or businesses on Facebook.
By contrast, they’ll ask Google questions. Local search keywords, like “pizza near me,” may be relevant on both platforms.
Once you’ve discovered the keywords people will use to find your business on Facebook, be sure to use them on your page and in your content.
6. Add Some Custom Tabs
Your Facebook page is yours, which means you can customize it. One area you might want to look at is the tabs section of your page.
These tabs can be customized to better reflect your business and what’s on the page. You can list events, products, and even job listings.
To edit tabs, head over to “Templates and Tabs.” You can select an different template for your business page.
You’ll get better results with customization, though. That’s because the tabs give you an opportunity to use more relevant keywords on your page. They also make it easier for both you and your fans to navigate the page.
7. Leverage Backlinks
You know how important backlinks are for your website. So why haven’t you been using them to improve your Facebook SEO?
A good backlinking strategy should extend to your social media profiles as well. There are a few easy ways to start building some great backlinks:
Add quality backlinks from relevant blog content on your own site
Make sure other businesses you collaborate with are linking to you
Add a link to any profile or “about” sections on sites you regularly contribute to
You can also take a look at your competitors to get some ideas about where you can turn to get credible backlinks. Remember that you want high-quality sites to link back to you in a relevant way.
8. Capitalize on Social Proof
Backlinks are important because they help to establish your page’s authority. In that sense, they’re one form of social proof.
Search engines love social proof, because it tells them that other people think highly of your site. In turn, the search engine can feel confident recommending your site to its users. Since other people trust your business page, it’s likely the search user will too!
Backlinks aren’t the only type of social proof, though. Comments, shares, and likes can also be seen as a type of social proof.
Even more important are reviews. Facebook allows people to post reviews for businesses. You can encourage your customers to give you a review.
When someone does review, you can also engage with them. If the review was negative, see this as an opportunity to “make it right” and change the customer’s mind. If it was positive, your response helps you build a deeper connection with the customer.
Interacting this way also improves SEO and your future customers’ opinion of you.
9. Craft Great Content
Your Facebook business page can also act as a bit of a blog. It’s a space for you to add content, which helps your SEO in a few different ways.
First, great content is informative and entertaining. It keeps your audience engaged and makes them want to come back for more. Posting content on a regular basis will help keep you front and center in their minds.
Good content can also be shared, liked, and engaged with. This can help push social proof.
You can also optimize your content for SEO, which makes it easier for your customers to find you. Finally, content can have a call-to-action that encourages people to take the next step.
10. Engage with Your Audience
Once you’ve posted great content or started to get a few likes, you should focus on engaging with your audience.
Engagement is important for a few reasons. One, it gives you an opportunity to build relationships with your customers and fans.
Next, it can also help your SEO. It adds to social proof, as well as pushing your brand into others’ feeds.
You may also find that audience engagement boosts your SEO by giving you a chance to provide more relevant information and answers. It can also keep your page full of new activity, as well as showing that you’re responsive.
11. Create a Pinned Post
This is a simple step to push your SEO forward on Facebook. It’s as simple as pinning a post to the top of your page.
Pinned posts are usually key information that people look up or ask about on a regular basis. It could be your hours or pricing. If this information changes, update the post or create a new one and pin that.
To pin a post, pick the post you want to pin. Then select the three-dot icon in the upper right-hand corner of the post. You’ll get a drop-down menu that includes the option to pin the post.
Some brands use pinned posts to advertise contents, upcoming events, or crucial information. Just make sure to keep it up to date and switch it up occasionally.
12. Optimize Visual Content
This tip is key whether you’re working on Facebook or Instagram SEO or even on your own website. You want to make sure you’re taking full advantage of visual content.
First, make sure your visuals are in line with your brand. Be sure to use your colors, your logos, and even your brand typefaces. You’ll want to use custom visuals for almost every part of your Facebook page.
Add a video or a slideshow for your cover image to make it more dynamic. Finally, add a description to each photo, and don’t forget the ALT text.
