"Durge and Astarion are canon your honor!"
Well canon Durge is a white male dragonborn sorcerer and yet y'all are making cute little drow girlies and sexy little tiefling twinks to get at that extra content so what's the truth?
Oh that your personal preferences are somehow more canon than someone else's because the devs didn't have enough time to write extra content for every companion, leaving an unfair and imbalanced emphasis on the one character that did get extra content? That you feel your choices are validated because they're reinforced by poor planning/game design? Hmm. Hmm. Hmmmm 🤔

can't wait to finish college and get my first big boy job so I can give money to my favorite ao3 writers like a 15th century pope giving palaces and silver to the cardinals who supported his ascension to the papacy

Supercorptober 2022
I did write a couple one-shots for supercorptober2022 but never posted. Better late than never, right!!
I had hoped I’d have more to post but writers block is still kicking my butt. I’m gonna leave it as unfinished bc I want to try to keep doing prompts in hopes of breaking through this block. So in no particular order, here you go!
Day 1 - Summer
Read on AO3
Kara loves every season. In fall the air feels fresh and crisp and perfect for flying. There’s cozy drinks and cozier sweaters. There’s halloween and thanksgiving - the beginning of all Kara’s favourite holidays and the perfect excuse to get together with friends and family. In winter there’s a sense of quiet that blankets the city, everything sounds softer, more muffled in winter. There’s ice skating and hot chocolate, and the city lights up in all different colours the closer it gets to christmas. There’s a sense of hope and new beginnings that comes every year at New Year’s that Kara absolutely loves. Then there’s spring with all the new life starting to come back, and the sun starts to get warmer and Kara knows that summer is right around the corner. The season of sunbathing as she floats on the wind. Late night bonfires and camping and surfing.
Kara loves every season, but she can’t think of any season she loves more than summer right now.
Not when Lena came already dressed for their impromptu trip to the beach. Objectively, she knows they all agreed to leave first thing this morning so it was unlikely that Lena would have a reason to come dressed in her trademark skirt and heels. But it never occurred to Kara that meant Lena would come dressed in something else instead.
It never occurred to her that going to the beach with Lena would mean going to the beach with Lena in a bathing suit. That it would mean seeing Lena in a bathing suit.
The bathing suit in question is relatively modest - a black one piece with a scooped neck. It’s the stark contrast against porcelain skin and the sheer cover-up tied around her waist that has Kara slowing to a pause midway through pushing her surfboard into the back of the jeep. Her hands slip on the smooth surface as she takes in Lena’s loose waves, her fingers twitching with the desire to sink into the dark locks and find out if it feels as thick and soft as it looks.
She can’t pull her eyes away as Lena pushes her hair back with her oversized sunglasses to meet Kelly with a hug and a laugh. Her eyes dance in the morning sun as she laughs at Kelly’s antics as she tugs at Lena’s skirt, turning her cheeks a lovely shade of pink.
Kara’s so busy watching Lena she completely misses Alex trying to load a second surfboard around her until the end accidentally hits her in the head.
“Hey!” Kara pouts as she rubs the back of her head dramatically and scowls at her sister.
“Oh come on, you barely felt that.” Alex brushes her off as she gives the surfboard one more shove and dusts off her hands looking proud of herself as she inspects the trunk.
Kara sticks her tongue out at the back of her sister’s head, blushing when she catches Lena watching her with a raised brow. Kara helplessly shrugs a shoulder as she tries not to look too embarrassed, grinning when Lena chuckles and turns back to Kelly.
She manages to finish loading her surfboard before she's distracted again. This time she stares at Lena without really looking at her, her figure becoming a blur in the background as she imagines Lena stretched out under an umbrella thumbing through a magazine. Probably something sciency that makes Kara want to try to distract her. She's so caught up in her daydream of all the ways she could distract Lena that she doesn't see the real one approaching her.
"Kara?" Lena's voice bleeds together with her daydream.
"Kara." The sharper tone makes Kara blink, slowly focusing on Lena's concerned face."Alex asked if you're ready to go. Are you okay?"
"Yup. Yeah. Peachy." Kara freezes, her back ramrod straight and eyes wide. "Not pea- yes, yeah, I'm ready. We should go."
Kara wrenches the jeep door open and waits expectantly for Lena to climb in. She tries not to watch as her friend slides across the seat before she clambers in without a thought, leaving Alex standing on the driveway holding out the set of keys she had begged Alex to give her earlier that morning.
"I don't think she cares about driving anymore." Kelly whispers dramatically as she fails to smother a smile and gives her wife's arm a loving squeeze.
Day 10 - Ice
Day 12 - Evening
Day 6 - Leaves

I don’t write Hobie as someone struggling with addiction because he’s black i write him like that because of nearly everything ELSE about him, both movie and comic-wise, but because he’s black he’s more likely to have be targeted by companies/people pushing/forcing more drugs onto him even if he’s trying to quit, and then denied the help he needs and demonized for it, which makes him struggle more with it. u get what i’m saying??? It’s like how i don’t write Miles G. as more aggressive and cold because he’s black, but because of his general life situation. But because he’s black, other people in his life might’ve reinforced these ideas that he was naturally going to behave this way, and you can only hear something about yourself so much (and at a young age too) before you begin to believe it, even a little, and then don’t see reason to fight it even if it’s not true. sorry if i’m not explaining this too well, but you see what i mean????

it’s fascinating to me that from a character-build perspective, only two of the bells have what I’d call main character energy: imogen and ashton. the difference is that imogen knows she’s a main character, and she’s furious about it. ashton, meanwhile, is operating under the assumption he’s a bit player and wondering why they keep getting punched in the face by the Narrative

I wasn't really paying attention as it was happening because it was gradual but now it's so odd looking through the kotlc tag because like...where did all the fic go? There used to be so much more fanfic in the tag and now there's an empty space where it used to be. I'm. gonna to go read some fic and support some writers <3

I have so many ideas I could explore for Jack and Ianto but the thing is they are hardly the only ship I care for and when I write for other fandoms and when 19 whole people kudos a new fic, they leave more than 2 words in feedback underneath. A single "loved this!" does not a writer feed, and sure, no one owes me comments, but I don't owe anyone fic either, and I would rather explore other, equally interesting, ideas i have for ships where people engage with my writing 🤷♂️

droners might have some flaws but i really think that if someone wants to write a proper rivals to lovers dynamic then they should study whatever hannah and corto have as a reference

Chapter 3 is done! 👏 Tried to go for some more drama in this one, and even just between characterization and stuff it took a lot of working and reworking lol. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Vladimir: Did you ever read the Bible?
Estragon: The Bible... [He reflects.] I must have taken a look at it.
Vladimir: Do you remember the Gospels?
Estragon: I remember the maps of the Holy Land. Coloured they were. Very pretty. The Dead Sea was pale blue. The very look of it made me thirsty. There's where we'll go, I used to say, there's where we'll go for our honeymoon. We'll swim. We'll be happy.
Vladimir: You should have been a poet.
Estragon: I was. [Gesture towards his rags.] Isn't that obvious.

It’s hard to find blogs so dedicated to actually understanding the characters they write about !!! So I enjoy urs a lot :)) was wondering if u had any thoughts on ritsu (he is my personal favorite)
Hello nonnie!! Thank you sm for your kind words!!!! 。゚(^ヮ^)/♡ .°• I'm really glad you're enjoying my writing, I'm having sm fun around here myself !!
OOOOHH RITSU. RITSU!! It's been a while since i got a chance to be insane abt him, it's so obvious to anyone familiar with my mp100 hyperfixation that he's my second fave lol I always feel like he's the kind of character I'd struggle writing, there is so much to him that I'd want to study under a microscope forever to truely understand the depths of his really well-written character. But aside from the edge-lord sasuke-wannabe that surfaces ( and takes over most of the fanon portrayals, mind you ), I think Ritsu is such a loving boy who has been so troubled for a really, Really long time, and has managed to hide it all so well from everyone, and that last fact on its own is so tragic to me. I instantly felt so much sympathy for him, to constantly be in such pain & turmoil and still feel the need to hide your problems, from your schoolmates, from your siblings, from your parents, I think these are things a lot of people can relate to, including myself. It was mostly fear that made Ritsu hide all that time, and it's so fascinating to see how his spiral during big cleanup arc is just all the negative emotions that had been rotting him from within finally reaching the surface. And all of this rotting has shaped him into this "perfect" boy who tries to make up for some sort of lacking that no one besides himself seems to understand. Ritsu is literally one of the top ten students in all of fucking Japan and he doesn't give a damn about it, because in his world his brother & the things his brother can do has been his biggest aspirations, his brightest dreams! his worst nightmares! and if he can't do that, then what use are his achievements ? what to make of himself & every single thing about him that's so plain & powerless ? what is so wrong about him that stops him from being like his brother ? his frustrations and fears are literally so visceral istg it was sO CONCERNING to watch.
And between his trauma/fear and his imposter syndrome & trying to be the brother who makes up for whatever the other brother doesn't have ( perfect grades, perfect records, perfect reputation, perfect looks ) Ritsu never really lived normally despite being THE normal one of two, but it's been him & his isolation & all the horrors for so long!! That's why when he realizes & decides he wants to have fun in life I just kind of burst to tears ??? no more fear no more facades no more lies no more unspoken unbearable suffering killing him slowly !!!
Aside from me just wanting to cry forever over him, if u want any salt on the fandom I think everyone shld look a liiittle past the emoboy who's just there to look pretty & be sad- and try to find the kid who trusts & loves his brother so much & helps his mother do the dishes & likes to watch dramas & goes with his bestie on fishing becuz he doesn't like loud places. he also studies because he genuinely thinks it's fun. isn't he weird ??? isn't he so sweet when you think abt it ????

one of the worst parts of persona 5 is by far how it has an in-universe excuse to sexualize its underage female characters. and i say this because i have had men argue this very point to me—how ann’s sexualization is okay because there’s a reason for it, so it serves as a point in the narrative’s storytelling, and how ann’s character would have to be completely re-written to make sense within the canon.
because like. they’re right, to an extent. ann’s sexualization is part of a larger reasoning. the phantom thieves’ outfits and personas are a mirror to how they’re cognitively perceived in the real world. akira is joker, the wild card, because he’s new to his environment. no one knows his personality, who he is, where he came from, so he’s given every skill set in order to reflect that. ryuji is skull, the rebel, the brash troublemaker who’s nothing but a misfit, and his edgy, rough-and-tough thief outfit reflects that. they’re both products of society’s larger cognition. in that sense, yes, ann’s outfit perfectly reflects how her peers see her at the start of the game. to them, she’s kamoshida’s girl, the teenager hooking up with the much-older gym teacher, the weird foreigner who’s too good for boys her age. and her panther persona reflects that in its promiscuity—to them, ann is nothing but a pretty girl using her looks to her advantage. the point of the personas and phantom suits are largely that the world’s cognition of these characters is wrong, or not wholly accurate, so of course that also proves to be the point for ann. she follows every in-universe rule of the meta verse to a T.
but. that in-universe explanation had to be written by someone. a grown man had to sit down and write this 16 year old girl whose story revolves around sexual harassment and trauma, and decide that for the rest of the story, she would be nothing but eye-candy. it isn’t commentary that she rejects the notion, or that it’s incorrect in the end, because that is nothing but excuses written by the creators to get away with their creepy behaviour. they did not need to continuously sexualize her to prove their point. it isn’t commentary in the slightest because the writers themselves are actively doing the very thing they supposedly criticize and are “rallying against”, and if i have to argue with another grown man about basic media literacy and understanding of the meta i am going to lose it.

Talking about the actual problems that comes with a person suddenly migrating into a different world altoguether in culture, customs, lenguage, writing, religion, diversity of food, clothes, people, temperature, climates, poverty, ethics, hygene, whats considered good, what considered bad, social customs ≠ cultural customs, body domman lenguage, simple greetings, complex conversations, modes of transport, safety, gender/sexuality/race/religion norms and prejudice, gas pollutions and technology, even the number of other immigrants from other religions and cultures all together in one place is SO UNDERUSED in isekai from all places where you expect that they woukd be even the tiniest bit interested in what its like, idk, living in another world.

Not Reverse Robins or Scrambled Birds but a secret third thing: A Step to the Left.
Not Dick > Jason > Tim > Steph > Damian,
but Jason > Tim > Steph > Damian > Dick*.
But not only them. Every sidekick with a legacy name gets shifted one spot. (No I’m not counting the Golden Age because I’m not combing through that ).
This means that Jason’s Titans team is him, Mia (Speedy), Jackson (Aqualad), Cassie (Wonder Girl), and Bart (Impulse but y’know he was KF II in the comics).
The NTT team including Starfire, Changeling, Raven, and Cyborg stays the same since they’re the only ones with those names. Cass gets lumped in here because Jason actually wants to do college/is becoming disillusioned about cape life and the idea of Kori learning Cass's body language is too good to pass up.
Tim gets one (1) cape friend (because Jason only got one) and it’s Zachary Zatara because it has to be a d-lister who deals with that disaster Teen Titans era.
Stephanie gets Jon (Superboy), Yara (Wonder Girl II now), and Irey (Because guess what it’s Impulse on the team and not KF which means we get Impulse II). Secret, Cissie, Anita, Slobo etc. all stay the same.
Damian doesn’t get anyone until he becomes Batgirl.
Duke literally gets Damian’s exact canon team but it’s Kon instead of Jon and probably won’t end with them committing war crimes.
If the character in that placement dies in canon then the new character in that placement also dies (i.e. Jason dies so Tim will die/ Kon dies so Jon will die).
But there will be changes because these are different characters so not all of them would react the same.
For example, Jason and Cass are the first Robin and Batgirl, but Cass becomes Nightwing while Jason becomes Oracle because I feel like Jason generally fits Barbara’s character better than Cass does (which is a fucking shame because Oracle being someone named Cassandra should be a no brainer but yeah).
Or how Barbara should be Batgirl number three, but it’s actually Damian because Cass would see their similarities between them and offer him Batgirl (which he refuses at first but after his disastrous run as Robin he sees how Batgirl would fit his strengths better).
Also I refuse to believe that Jason and Cass would let Dick out as Robin so young so he’s benched until later and his place is taken up by Duke and instead of Leviathan it’s Gnomon.
