I do think being a waitress has done one great thing with respect to writing: it has made me understand deeply and fundamentally how many writers are full of shit. It has altered my view of privilege and money and the ways that people complain that mask the fact that in their world, they would never have to do a job that equates to basic manual labor, because their intelligence is worth more than waiting on others. (Side note: Sweetbitter was an overrated waitressing book, Love Me Back is underrated.)
Maybe by accident, maybe on purpose, I fell in to a social group in New York City with many people who consider themselves to be intellectuals. I’ve been privy to countless conversations about how intellectual labor is labor, about how someone needs to do the sitting around and thinking and theorizing, with the thought underlying this being: and it certainly wouldn’t be the people who carry things for a living.
Why don’t websites hire service people to write about food? How do ‘restaurant journalists’ exist, when servers who are also artists are standing right here? A book critic once told me, “a website could never be staffed by service people, the quality of the writing would be too low,” and I wanted to laugh. I suspect it’s easier to teach a waitress to be a writer than an intellectual to be a waiter.

why is there such a big thing in dw fandom that people think the companion needs to be relatable to the audience. do u not sometimes want to see someone in completely different circumstances/with different traits and flaws to u. personally i would find it incredibly boring if i could relate to every single companion

hahahahahha whatever you do don't think about the fact that in Phantom Liberty Johnny has to watch V sit on an operating chair and get an implant installed against their will for a cause that they never truly believed in and he probably knows exactly how the whole damn thing is going to play out already and this time there's nothing he can do to stop it.
Maybe when he asks you "What's it feel like to be a traitor?", it isn't meant to be an armor-piercing question for V's own morality. Maybe it's him saying "How's it feel to be like me?"

Thoughts on the new survivor?
I think he is silly. I really like his disposition and his backstory in relation to his profession. Someone who rescues people from fires who is also an arsonist is very intriguing to say the least. Hope to see his story intertwine with some of the other characters. And his voice in the trailer was so good! Design-wise he's pretty alright; it fits his character. His in-game ability is very goofy and I'm looking forward to see more of it. The expression on his model makes him look mighty uncanny though ghjdsjfd
