Has there ever been a time when we haven't had a vice president?
John Adams was sworn in as our first Vice President in 1789 and in the 234 years since then, we've gone without a VP for 37 years and 290 days.
Until the ratification of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, there was no mechanism for filling a vacancy in the Vice Presidency, so in several instances we've gone almost entire Presidential terms without a Vice President.
7 Vice Presidents Died In Office: •George Clinton (Jefferson's second VP & Madison's first VP), died April 20, 1812, leaving the Vice Presidency vacant for 318 days. •Elbridge Gerry (Madison's second VP), died November 23, 1814, leaving a vacancy for 2 years, 101 days. •William Rufus DeVane King (Pierce's VP), died April 18, 1853, leaving a vacancy for 3 years, 320 days. •Henry Wilson (Grant's second VP), died November 22, 1875, leaving a vacancy for 1 year, 102 days. •Thomas A. Hendricks (Cleveland's first VP), died November 24, 1885, leaving a vacancy for 3 years, 99 days. •Garret A. Hobart (McKinley's first VP), died November 21, 1899, leaving a vacancy for 1 year, 103 days. •James S. Sherman (Taft's VP), died October 30, 1912, leaving a vacancy for 125 days.
2 Vice Presidents Resigned: •John C. Calhoun (VP under John Quincy Adams and Jackson's first VP), resigned on December 28, 1832, leaving a vacancy for 66 days. •Spiro Agnew (Nixon's first VP), resigned on October 10, 1973, leaving a vacancy for 57 days.
9 Vice Presidents Succeeded to the Presidency: •John Tyler (William Henry Harrison's VP), assumed office upon President Harrison's death on April 4, 1841, leaving a VP vacancy for 3 years, 333 days. •Millard Fillmore (Taylor's VP), assumed office upon President Taylor's death on July 9, 1850, leaving a VP vacancy for 2 years, 238 days. •Andrew Johnson (Lincoln's second VP), assumed office upon President Lincoln's death on April 15, 1865, leaving a VP vacancy for 3 years, 323 days. •Chester Arthur (Garfield's VP), assumed office upon President Garfield's death on September 19, 1881, leaving a VP vacancy for 3 years, 166 days. •Theodore Roosevelt (McKinley's second VP), assumed office upon President McKinley's death on September 14, 1901, leaving a VP vacancy for 3 years, 171 days. •Calvin Coolidge (Harding's VP), assumed office upon President Harding's death on August 2, 1923, leaving a VP vacancy for 1 year, 214 days. •Harry S. Truman (FDR's third VP), assumed office upon President Roosevelt's death on April 12, 1945, leaving a VP vacancy for 3 years, 283 days. •Lyndon B. Johnson (JFK's VP), assumed office upon President Kennedy's death on November 22, 1963, leaving a VP vacancy for 1 year, 59 days. •Gerald Ford (Nixon's second VP), assumed office upon President Nixon's resignation on August 9, 1974, leaving a VP vacancy for 132 days.
Only two Vice Presidential vacancies have been filled under the provisions of the 25th Amendment. Gerald Ford was appointed to the Vice Presidency by President Nixon following Spiro Agnew's resignation in October 1973 and was confirmed by Congress in December 1973 (a nominee to fill a Vice Presidential vacancy must be confirmed separately by a majority vote of both chambers of Congress). On August 9, 1974, Nixon resigned as President and Ford succeeded to the White House, leaving the Vice Presidency vacant for the second time in less than a year. President Ford nominated Nelson Rockefeller as Vice President on August 20 and he was confirmed by Congress in December 1974.

A Needed Update
The DOJ’s OLC policy of not pursuing criminal investigations or prosecutions into or against a sitting president needs to change! Their argument that it would ” … unconstitutionally undermine the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions”—in light of the serial criminality of the former President—no longer holds up, IMO. Look how thoroughly it screwed up…

I cannot imagine a more horrific future for our country than if this woman were one heartbeat away from being our president. A second Trump term would indeed be disastrous, but putting MTG in a position of such power and influence would be insanity.
I do take some comfort from George Conway’s assertion that the idea of MTG being on the ticket with Trump in 2024 is overblown, but since Trump’s election in 2016 I no longer hold to the idea that the impossible cannot happen.

Until tonight I could not have told you the name of the Vice President’s husband. I am sure I’m not alone in that.
Sheila and I went to our local brewery. Tonight’s food truck was one we like, so we were going as much for eats as for suds.
Just before I turned the corner to the last street there, I saw a small convoy of heavy, black Suburbans approaching, followed by a marked State Patrol squad.
I told Sheila it had to be some sort of VIP deal. Those Suburbans had the tiny LED emergency lights and little antennas shaped similar to those glue sticks we had in elementary school (but black in color but not marked “Elmer’s”).
Nobody in the Suburbans waived to us, so I kept driving to the brewery. When we ordered beer one of our favorite bartenders mentioned that the VPOTUS’s husband had just been in for a beer (with an entourage, none of whom ordered beer). The bartender showed us a selfie she got with the First Gentleman. His name is Doug, if you (like I) did not already know.
We missed seeing him by “this much.”

From Fed Anon: “I did hear at one point that Kamala really can’t stand Meghan and has her blocked or won’t ever return her call. So something definitely went down.”
Empress, may I put this in perspective for your readers who may not know? Re: the above + MM as “Fist Lady botherer” (South Park lol) - whether one agrees politically with VP Harris or various FLOTUSs or not, “love ‘em or hate 'em”…VP Harris and the various FLOTUSs who have been linked to MM are all highly educated women of accomplishment, stratospheres above Meghan, who shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as these women. Apples and oranges to the max (!):
Hillary Clinton: (Wellesley/BA, Yale Univ Law/JD, top of her class), lawyer, FLOTUS, US Sec. of State, US Senator, first female US Presidential nominee (won the largest popular presidential vote in US history until Biden), a TRUE feminist icon, best-selling author
Michelle Obama: (Princeton/BA, Harvard Univ Law/JD), lawyer, FLOTUS, cultural icon, best-selling author
Jill Biden: (Villanova/MA, Univ of Delaware/BA, EdD): professor, FLOTUS, passionate advocate for education
Kamala Harris: (Howard/BA, Univ of California Law/JD): lawyer, VPOTUS (first female US VP), US Senator, Attorney General of California
Note: all of the above women have doctorates (“PhDs”) in either law or education
Meghan Markle: (Northwestern/BA): D-list cable TV actress, working senior royal/BRF (18 months), any claimed “philanthropic”/“diplomatic” creds, pre- and post-BRF, were ALL merely PR-arranged events and photo ops to fluff up her fake “global profile” lol
'Nuff said :) (it makes me so mad lol!). The massive hubris and ego that MM has to cold-call these women (and other female US Senators as well), or to attempt to align herself with them, is mind-boggling and delusional! And any interaction that these women may have had with MM was due to their respect for the British monarch, as Head of State of the UK, not for MM (or Harold).
=====
I agree that she does deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as them, and can’t believe the left leaning celebs in the US actually helped encourage her bullshit.

All of these leaks about the biden crime family are a carefully orchestrated effort by the uni-party to remove china-joe. By Thanksgiving he'll "resign" for health reasons, with Heels-Up harris taking the oval, and greasy gavin newsome named VPOTUS. Harris will decide "on her own" not to run in 24, paving the way for newsome to be "elected" in 24. The uni-party, along with the pelosi crime family, have already planned the theft of 24, along with the violent elimination of President Trump. Call me crazy on 6-2-23, but get back to me on 6-2-24 and I'm betting I've got this plot nearly 100% nailed down.

The misogyny of wanting to replace a qualified woman with a mediocre man is bad enough. But the misogynoir of wanting to replace an immensely qualified Black woman who is the best VPOTUS in a long while with a mediocre white man is disgusting. And for that he/she/they can FQ OFF !!!

UNCF, the United Negro College Fund, known as the United Fund, is a philanthropic organization that funds scholarships for Black students and general scholarship funds for 37 private HBCUs. UNCF was incorporated on April 25, 1944, by Frederick D. Patterson, Mary McLeod Bethune, and others. UNCF is headquartered in DC. In 2005, UNCF supported approximately 65,000 students at over 900 colleges and universities with approximately $113 million in grants and scholarships. About 60% of these students are the first in their families to attend college, and 62% have annual family incomes of less than $25,000. UNCF administers over 450 named scholarships.
UNCF’s president and chief executive officer is Michael Lomax. Past presidents of the UNCF included William H. Gray and Vernon Jordan.
Though founded to address funding inequities in education resources for African Americans, UNCF-administered scholarships are open to all ethnicities; the great majority of recipients are still African-American. It provides scholarships to students attending its member colleges as well as to those going elsewhere.
Graduates of UNCF member institutions and scholarships have included many Black people in the fields of business, politics, health care, and the arts. Some prominent UNCF alumni include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; Alexis Herman; Spike Lee; Samuel L. Jackson; General Chappie James; and Dr. David Satcher.
UNCF adopted as its motto the maxim “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” This maxim has become one of the most widely recognized slogans in advertising history. The motto was notably mangled in an address to the organization by VPOTUS Dan Quayle, who stated: “And you take the UNCF model that what a waste it is to lose one’s mind or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.” The motto, which has been used in numerous award-winning UNCF ad campaigns, was created by Forest Long, of the advertising agency Young & Rubicam, in partnership with the Ad Council. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Hi HoB, have you had a look at the astrology for the US presidential election yet? Or is it too soon?
Tumblr media
I've looked at some of it. Technically, it gets down to looking at two charts and determining which one is more powerful during the election and immediately afterwards. Given we don't officially have nominees yet, no one can make an official determination. After all, we have more than 12 months until the election, and probably about 12 months from now until we have official nominees.
That said, we know that Trump is unquestionably going to be the Republican nominee. No other GOP candidate has come close to topping Trump in the polls. Trump's first federal trial is currently scheduled for May 2024, which means the outcome of that trial is unlikely to affect Trump clinching the Republican nomination. Even still, Trump is unlikely to win in November 2024.
But is Joe Biden going to be the Democratic nominee on the top of the ticket in 2024? I highly doubt it. Will Kamala Harris be on the Democratic ticket? I highly doubt that either. I may be on the left half of the political spectrum, but Kamala Harris is the weakest VP since Dan Quayle. (And I am old enough to remember Dan Quayle!)
I still suspect Kamala is going to get an easy out from this political mess and head to a different branch of government. She just needs an opening in the judicial branch to make that happen. The only question is if it will be an associate position or chief of the judicial branch. Chief Justice isn't a job opening that happens very often. Not even once a decade. If that position opens up, which I think is somewhat possible, then you know that Kamala will be gunning for that position just like Hunter Biden wants a sweetheart plea deal.
Speaking of Hunter Biden, I bet we continue to get more of his mess as this summer and early fall drag on. Which means Kevin McCarthy will probably be forced to make a choice on impeaching Joe Biden or not. And let's not forget there's a significant section of the House Republican caucus who hates McCarthy. They got taken for a ride just a few months ago on the debt ceiling bill, and I bet they haven't forgotten about it. So...will Kevin continue to be Speaker of the House from now to the end of the year? I'm not so sure of that. Are we going to end up having another vote where we go ten, fifteen, or more rounds to determine who is the Speaker? I won't be surprised if that does indeed happen again.
So, if we have a situation where Kamala has moved over to SCOTUS, then that means there is no Vice. And if we have a situation where there is no VPOTUS and no Speaker of the House, well, the line of presidential succession still exists. And so does the 25th amendment.
As to your question about the 2024 election, I think when it gets down to it, the man who is likely to be the winner of the 2024 election has not announced yet. However, as things begin to change this fall, I suspect the Big Kahuna will change his mind and announce because...well, we'll wait until then. But regardless, I suspect the 47th president will be finishing out the remainder of Biden's presidency as a caretaker president, as she is not someone who ever wanted to be POTUS.

This is my email to POTUS and VPOTUS today
Hi Genocide Joe (/VP Harris) Have you even looked at the people you're complicit in their genocide and ethnic cleansing? Have you seen pictures of the surviving palestinian journalists, getting thinner and more haggard by the day? Today I am surprised they can even stand. It has been weeks since palestinians had access to more than a mouthful or two of water a day. God will judge you. Harshly.
Feel free to use this for your own White House emails today. Going to wait till after business hours to call my senator and representative so I can leave a voicemail guaranteed.
