Played an AWBO draft this morning and got 3 copies of Voidwing Hybrid

I made a sick proliferate poison deck and went 6-3

#asks #in the first pack the bots just kept passing me uncommons #so i took the opportunity to fill up my collection #in pack 1 i was grabbing both blue-black proliferate cards and red-white equipment cards #somewhere around the 2nd voidwing i settled on proliferate #proliferate poison is best poison #in one game i very nearly got out-poisoned by a black-green deck #i was at 8 poison and they played an Expand the Sphere #but i kept enough mana for a Reject Imperfection :) #imperfection: rejected #won next turn with voidwings #it was an honorable poison duel #also i FINALLY got a copy of Bladehold War-Whip #i knew i was missing it for my equipment deck but i had never really looked at it and WOW it's really good! #it's so much better than the other 3-drop Goldwarden's Helm #i literally only run goldwarden's helm because it's a for mirrodin equipment #it does nothing except create a token #don't get me wrong it's been useful! #it's a great target for Against All Odds #and it makes my affinity for equipment cards cheaper #but that's basically it #Citizen's Crowbar is nearly stronger than it at a lower cost #i would've crafted war-whips earlier if i realized they were this strong

Oh you can do anyone you want!!! Even characters I've done already. Actually I'd love to see other people's takes on a dragon Anduin because as much as I like mine I don't feel as confident in it as Thrall or Valeera's design. Like...would you have known it was him if I didn't tell you? He's one of those characters that could be alot of different things. Years ago I drew him as the albino drake (the mount whose only lore is we don't know what flight it's from). I could probably redesign Shadowreaper but base it on the Voidwing mount??

Hmm I mentioned Velen before. A Rexxar fan said Rexxar would be a green dragon and that'd be pretty cool, draw him with his animal companions. I know Sylvanas would be undead but I'm not sure what she'd be when she was living, and its probably helpful to figure that out before designing what she looks like dead. I'm not sure what Arthas would be but maybe Invincible would be neat to use for design inspiration.

Alternatively you could even ask the question what race the dragons would be in this AU since they'd be born as mortals and can't pick a visage. like idunno I just picture Alexstrasza as a Tauren. Nozdormu as a wise old troll.

from left to right and top down, all my art of Nixie in order of when it was drawn (i think!). It was a wild 4 years of rping her across 4 discord servers (same world and story, but we had to change servers for Reasons)... though to her, the first and last artwork are set 100 years apart!

below is a very curt (300+ word) summary of her life thus far. this IS the TL;DR.

Nixie was originally an olmfolk crystallographer named Masha who explored the surface during the great olmish reform movement, and then became a golemancer whilst on the surface. She got kidnapped by a crazy tyrant baron and was forced to make a golem that would rule the barony like the baron did. She instead made an altruistic golem, named him DonsKrakos, and escaped, but got seperated from her golem son whilst escaping. 

She hung around in Astrax for a while before befriending the exiled prince of a small autonomous region of Astrax. They have a run-in with a demon lord. The prince took back his throne and put Masha in charge of the ministry for public infrastructure. Masha starts working on a gigantic arena that’s also a golem, because who needs boring static structures? 39 years later, Masha hears that her golem son, Donskrakos, went crazy after killing the insane baron that kidnapped her. She makes a mistake out of greif while writing the arena’s scriptcore. Then she finishes the arena, and on opening day, it goes crazy like DonsKrakos did and killed thousands of spectators. Masha runs away because she knew the prince was too soft of a leader to even exile her, so she had to do it herself. She makes contact with the demon lord and exchanges all her golemantic knowledge for a permanent draconian form. This results in her losing most of her golem-related memories, including DonsKrakos, and she renamed herself Nixie.

Then she wandered to Etharia, joined the Azure Wings guild, fled with them to Askana whent he golden capital was attacked, and started developing technology that would help them defeat cultists, such as explosives, crys-comms, light cannons, and thunder sabers, while funding their operations with her new business providing crystal-based technology to surface folk. After helping the Voidwings guild (combination of Voidwalkers and Azure Wings guilds) defeat the demonic god Zhaitan, she married Slyva Runehart and continued to grow her company into the monolith it is today for the next 50 years.

However, hidden from the public eye by her smiling face and the magic dagger that maintains an illusion of normalcy, cracks are forming in her life. Her busy corporate lifestyle cannot reconcile itself with her wife's adventurous spirit, so their marriage is crumbling. With Zhaitan dead, demonic power was weakened, and so was the spell that gave her her draconian form. She is turning into a being made purely of crystal by her own magic as a result.

Uncommon Ground

A game of Magic generally consists of a series of actions, that, when summed together, result in at least one player being declared the victor. Some of these are very common, such as casting spells or playing lands. Others, however, are a bit rarer, occurrences brought about by strange cards and unusual circumstances. Generally, premier sets, their limited environments especially, are geared around promoting some of these more exotic events, to give said sets more flavor and character. This sort of spice is what we will be focusing on this week.

Design an uncommon which cares about or emphasises something that doesn’t usually happen in a game of Magic.

EXAMPLES:

Voidwing Hybrid cares about proliferating, a very specific keyword action.

Rage Extractor cares about you playing spells with Phyrexian mana in their costs.

Thief of Hope cares about the casting of Spirit or Arcane spells specifically.

Dungeon Crawler cares about the completion of dungeons, a game piece which is not in the game until introduced by another card.

Distorted Curiosity cares about whether or not someone has poison counters, which, again, must be introduced to the game by another card, much like the Crawler above, except I included this one because it's a spell. Don't have to make a permanent this week. Just wanted to make that clear.

You submission should suggest an interesting and specific environment with its choice of occurrence. "Whenever you cast a spell," happens in every set, but "Whenever you cast a spell with madness"? That's something you don't see every day. I highly, highly encourage you to Get Weird With It this week. That said, do make sure that the action you're advocating for makes sense in limited at your suggested volume. You're trying to imply an environment here. Do try to make that environment somewhat sensible.

Okay hello hi so I also have a sort-of WoF AU except it’s centered around Blitzwing being saved from his execution and brought to the dragon planet by my oc, Malady, who is both a goddess (more on that later) and her own species of dragon that I call VoidWings (even MORE on that later) and being a goddess of rock and metal and void she was able to turn Blitzwing into a VoidWing (though I also like to give him the color-changing scales that would signal a switch in personality, leading many dragons to believe he has some RainWing ancestry) and they live on a little island that Malady raised from the seabed (Queen Coral didn’t mind bc it wasn’t in the Sea Kingdom territory, it’s actually below the “belly” of Pyrrhia) with my other dragon ocs, alongside some of my friends’ ocs too. Anyways sorry for the run-on infodump but heehoo fellow Transformers/WoF fan hello, if you’d like you may DM me if you wanna know more
