Fun BSD French translation details and choices - Episode 1 (by someone who does not understand Japanese but thinks the differences with the English translation/subtitles are funny)

General notes:

There are 2 ways to say "you" in French: the polite one ("vous") and the familiar/direct one ("tu"). As a general rule, characters who are called by -san or other polite honorifics will get called mister/ma'am and be talked to using the polite "you", while -kun or honorific-less characters will simply get the familiar "you".

Dazai's ability being directly named after a real novel, they used the official French translation of the title: La Déchéance d'un homme. "Déchéance" can be used to talk about the loss of a right in a legal way, but its meaning by default is more along the lines of degradation or withering; the progressive loss of something (physical, moral, etc.). A literal translation would be "the degeneration of a man" or "the loss of right of a man"/"a man's loss of right", which based on my knowledge of the original Japanese title being along the lines of "the loss of right to being human", is quite fitting.

Danny and Damian Twin AU, except not really

@stealingyourbones this is story premise that I think would be really funny.

Danny and Damian meet and notice they are identical. This is not a doppelganger situation; they are definitely related.

Danny thinks Damian is a clone. Damian thinks Danny is a clone. Their arguments over who's the clone go nowhere.

They bring in their parents.

Talia is very confused because she only had one son and didn't make Danny. The Fentons are also confused because they assumed that Danny was their biological son. Bruce is just confused in general.

After some discussion, it turns out that Talia went to a fertility clinic to have Damian, and the Fentons used the exact same clinic, so it was the clinic that must've fucked up.

But now no one knows who Danny and Damian's biological parents are. Is it Talia and Bruce? The Fentons? Talia and Jack? Maddie and Bruce?

After some shenanigans getting a sample of Danny's DNA that can be tested despite his ecto-contamination, they order some paternity and maternity tests to find out the truth.

And the results are....

We decided this happens like right before the Big Plot Shit happens in the AU and instead of being a festival it's Hermie's Birthday !!! The cursed riddlebook is a gift from Scam that Hermie gives to Scary instead bc he doesn't rlly care about it, which . turns out to be a very bad idea. The curse quickly spreads throughout the school reversing everyone's personalities and causing Normal to try and pretty much end the world.

This arc is Hermie and Taylor focused !!! :D Although it is really fun to think about the reverse teens running rampant NWVEGWHAAHA reverse norm is a little treat for me <3 but reverse Link is SO INCREDIBLY FUNNY . shoutout to this message from @happi-tree bc it's been burned into my memory and I cant stop laughing about it

When it comes to the curse we decided that bonds and skills stay the same but the personalities are inverted, which means reverse Scary being sooo attached and clingy to Hermie is just her personality changing the way she decides to communicate her affection for who she sees as her best friend. Its cute <3

Herm is SUPER on edge due to being incredibly irritated with his dad and feeling insecure about his friendship with Taylor, who's having a bit of a crisis on his own about his feeling about Link. Toss in their shared homesickness for Wonderland, a realm they can't go back to, and Taylor panicking over a gift his mom left him going missing, well it's not good for anyone. How are they gonna figure things out enough to save Ever After from destruction?

Ok I was semi-joking about there being Christ allegories for BT in Titanfall but the more I think about it… he’s a figurehead of a rebellion, and his mortal human equivalent he selects to be a vessel of his will/mission is Jack Cooper. JC.

The giant and horrifically powerful, alien artefact they discover about to be used as a weapon is named the Ark. When the IMC attempted to harness its power at first, BT says some of the remaining bodies have “aged unusually,” and their facility was destroyed.

Special Operation 217 is their mission to stop the IMC from using the Ark to destroy Harmony, BT tells Cooper they are “duty bound” to complete it.

Hidden manna apparently means like, being saved? If humans (Jack) can help BT carry out the plan and overcome the IMC’s sin then BT will save them all and reward Jack with the “white stone”, which is supposed to represent a special and secret kinship with God.

Before he is fully destroyed, BT first sustains a wound on one side

after which he is murdered, then resurrected through Jack’s loyalty, then chooses to die of his own accord in order to save humankind and Harmony, because I guess they didn’t want to call the planet Peace.

BT’s “Holy Spirit” is his super-advanced AI, which he can transfer to Jack “in order to permit communication across time shifts”

and which he uses to communicate with his beloved human across time and space even once his physical form is consumed by the Ark. See: special secret kinship

You know... looking back on this show, it isn't audacious of Amity to call Luz a bully, since the show never actually presents Luz as a victim of bullying.

In fact, it's the opposite - Luz was antagonizing her schoolmates and disrupting the learning environment. It got so bad the counselor made Camilla send Luz to a correctional summer camp... And Yesterday's Lie makes it even weirder by saying "If Luz actually toned down her disruptive behavior at school, she could actually make friends. Luz is the problem here, not the system"
