the second i saw the temple mural in rebels i knew i had to do this
[Image ID: A mural-style drawing of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka styled after the mural of the Mortis gods seen in Rebels. Ahsoka is on the right in her white robe and carrying her scepter, a morai perched on her shoulder. Obi wan is in the middle in his Jedi robes, one hand raised. The Jedi Order symbol is behind his head. Anakin stands on the right, with one half of his face obscured by his Darth Vader mask. His hand is clenched into a fist.]
Version without noise (along with me ranting about couple details I'm way too proud of) under the cut:
Tumblr media
The beams of light are emanating from the Jedi Order symbol for Obi-Wan, but for Anakin and Ahsoka they are centred on Obi-Wan's heart
The beams emanating from Obi-Wan all reach the edge of the canvas, but for Anakin and Ahsoka some are incomplete
The colours circling their hands are indicative of their lightsaber colours
The light circling Anakin's hand is tinged blue in Obi-Wan's direction
The light circling Ahsoka's hand is primarily white, but tinged in green, and tinged blue in Anakin's direction

Big Lore Dump be upon ye. Nothing necessarily in-game related but a bunch of stuff that probably won't get its own post.
The von Valancius ancestor that eventually led to Casimira was from a ne'er-do-well bastard line of the family from Scintilla centuries back. This forgotten von Valancius eventually got in trouble with the law, but like many a bastard noble too valuable to kill outright, he was given a gun and some provisions, dropped onto Iocanthos with others of his ilk and abandoned. He married a local and had a few kids before eventually growing restless and trying to amass his own warband. Unfortunately, he lacked the combat and leadership abilities his family and descendants would be known for, and thus he met a grisly end after a good 20 years on the planet. His passing went barely remarked upon and his presence likely would have been erased outright if not for the Sisters of the Orders Famulous at the Abbey of the Dawn keeping a record of it.
Cas' native language is Ashleen/Iocanthan High Gothic, an archaic dialect that isn't spoken off-world but is moderately intelligible with its modern counterpart due to the influences of Imperial settlement. She eventually learns standard High Gothic on its own but she does have fun using her own dialect when talking shit because while someone who knows standard High Gothic may get a vague gist of what she's saying to everyone else it sounds fancy enough that they probably won't catch on so long as her tone doesn't shift.
Vhaebos VI is probably the favorite of Cas' domain planets, despite (or because of) how miserable it is. She has a large manor on the planet and is a regular patron of the arenas. She takes more "rest stops" on Vhaebos VI than on Dargonus or Janus in part because as a positive side-effect of the hostile social and physical environment, many of her most annoying nobles and hangers-on think twice about following her there for any extended period of time.
As she gets more settled in as Rogue Trader Cas does develop a taste for luxury, even though she doesn't ever fully adopt the more cumbersome Imperial styles. She has a large collection of furs and jewelry and at least one of her fancier court gowns is made of color-shifting Vaporian silk. This mantua is probably the closest to what she casually wears on Dargonus, fancy but not too structured.
Hardly anyone has actually seen them in full, but Cas does have tattoos going up her arms and extending back to her shoulder blades. While they are mostly clan/culture related with a few religious motifs thrown in, there's a thin line between God-Emperor-honoring folk tattoos and "this seems Khorne-y" so she keeps her arms covered just to avoid the hassle.
Cas is not very good at showing certain negative emotions (fear, pain, anxiety, etc.) or having to rely on others when she's physically vulnerable. She doesn't necessarily judge other people for having those emotions but as the Leader™ she feels as though it's bad for her to show them so she prefers to ignore or deflect from those feelings when they occur (ie, "the officers don't get to know about my kidnapping, shut up and throw me a party"). The exception to this being if the other person she's talking to is going through the same thing, then the walls can come down a little, like during Heinrix's moment in Commorragh. Beyond that, any attempt to intimidate or be protective of her automatically puts her in fight mode. (Abelard has found a semi-reliable way around this through the art of harrumphing but even then she has a good chance of ignoring him.)
She's very family oriented. The Ashleen are a clan-based people and even beyond the four siblings she grew up with, the idea that wherever she went there was a good chance of being in some proximity to at least one or two distant kin was just her reality. And so going off-world for centuries-removed relatives she's never heard of, only to then have two of those relatives die and the other go off to be evil was deeply unsettling and isolating. Getting cut off from the Imperium, and thus her homeworld later did not help with those feelings in the least, even if it was ultimately for the best.
The above reason is also one of the many as to why the Werserians are Cas' favorite nobles. She and Abelard don't agree on a lot but his family is always reliable and not prone to internal squabbling.
Bonus YM-specific HCs, (for @poetikat lol 💕)
YM is publicly known to be a mutant (by accident of Her Ladyship's warp travel late in her pregnancy, a side-effect of his home planet's environment, or a sign of the God-Emperor's disfavor for his mother's close association with Xenos, depending on who you ask). He can almost be compared to a voidborn with his height and thinness, if not for his coloring being so unnervingly vibrant. And like the voidborn, among people newly introduced/not frequently in contact with him, he's almost universally considered to be somewhat unpleasant to encounter. It wasn't as noticeable when he was an infant/small child and even as an adult there's nothing obviously wrong about him per se but his general person is just....uncanny.
Despite her past flagrant impiety, perhaps in a fit of conscience (or pressing from her Seneschal) Cas had nearly every sanctification, public ceremony, and convention followed to a T before and after her son's arrival. All of this was done on Dargonus, except for his actual birth, which took place in the privacy of Vhaebos VI. The first few months of YM's life were spent there before his official presentation to the court at the capitol, to the dismay and suspicion of the type of nobles and church men who cared about that kind of thing.
Even though Astartia's death does complicate her relationship with the Werserians quite a bit, Cas arranges for some of the younger Werserians to be raised alongside her son in lieu of siblings of his own. She does this in the hopes that he will have some actual close connections to rely on when he eventually takes over the dynasty and these Werserians in turn all receive prestigious positions when they come of age, whether they end up serving on the flagship or not.
YM was an incorrigible child, an absolute terror at the palace from infancy. This slowly got better with age but with the exception of close friends he still maintains a certain capricious meanness and an overall carelessness with other people's well-being that, while probably in-line with most noble scions, has been known to go far enough (with people of status) to be a frequent cause for concern.
Like his mother, he is a frequent patron of Vhaebos VI's arenas and rewards his favorite gladiators handsomely. It's been said that he himself fights in the arena incognito, which he did as an adolescent once or twice due to a dare from friends, but not nearly as often as the rumors say.
Also like Cas, he speaks Ashleen, although not her level of fluency and as an adult acquires some of the same tattoos she has, particularly the clan-specific ones. He also has a few deed-related tattoos similar to those of Cas' sister Eisha, by his choice and as a consequence of his own adventures.
He's also mostly fluent in Aeldari (Drukhari dialect) and conversational in the Asuryani dialect. Neither group particularly likes this. But he is in semi-frequent contact with both factions of Aeldari due to the state of the Protectorate so the skill is useful.
He is a swordsman! Which he's quite good at, although he does have some nasty scars from a few close-calls. There's one vicious one on his left arm that he's especially proud of, from where a Khymera nearly split his upper arm in half diagonally.
His first important "Rogue Trader" journey on the Charybdis happened when he was a teenager, and it's rumored something terrible occurred on board during that time even though nobody actually speaks of what it was. He doesn't return as a regular member of the crew until his thirties.
In the interim decade or so between the Incident and when he started assuming a more hands-on role as heir, he just...disappeared from public life and was unable to be easily contacted. Allegedly he went off to go see the Expanse on his own, but curiously not on a von Valancius ship. Cas never made much of a fuss about it despite only a few blips of contact and various rumored sightings over the years. Eventually he returned, scarred and triumphant, and was welcomed back as though he never left.

What about modern!aemond’s favorite tv shows/comfort shows?
Once again, sorry for the wait, friend!! GOSH this is even harder than the books questions because I'm so shit at watching shows, so I've less to pull from lol! I do have a couple of ideas in mind though
Mindhunter (haven't actually seen it, but I know it was created by David Fincher and have heard crazy good reviews about it. It seems to me that Aemond would really dig psychologycal thriller/mystery/detective shows. Something substantial that really makes him think!)
I feel like he'd be into period dramas, like The Hollow Crown, The Borgias, Downton Abbey, The Crown, etc. (From these I've only watched The Hollow Crown and loved it!)
Seriously I feel like he'd be all BBC everything lmao! and his #1 comfort show would maybe be The Great British Bake Off. I can just picture him chilling at home with his dogs, under the blankets, and yelling at the TV about the judge's critique! And it'd be like a family thing to watch, like, it's a RULE that you CANNOT watch it without him or skip ahead. You must watch this together or else he's not gonna speak to you in a week (he's just exagerating though. But he does wanna watch it with you every time so you can comment on it)
And also he'd be such an old man and be into Midsummer Murders from BBC. My mom's the one who watches it all the freaking time and it makes me laugh every time I hear the intro song. I feel like anyone who's anyone in the U.K. acting scene has appeared in it lmao.
There's also a show that I used to like called, 'Shakespear Uncovered' where actors that are known for having played Shakespearean characters go on a journey of research and stuff about the context and interpretation of a specific play over time.
AND there's this show that I do love called 'Fake or Fortune' where two curators/art historians embark on super in-depth research about works of art to find out if they're fakes or originals! I feel like he'd love that one.
(Here I am saying I don't watch shows and then proceed to name a bunch of 'em lmao)

Congratulations on your big milestone! I’ve followed your account since I joined tumblr, and it’s wonderful to watch you grow. I would love an artist match!
Anything gothic or macabre piques my interest. I just find the grim and dark atmospheres beautiful in their special way. I’ve been looking for more darker artists to add to my favorites list, so I’d love to hear any recommendations you’ve got!
visit the art gallery
hello lovely Elijah! thank you so much for your kind words and for being here!
I'm very excited for your request, since the gothic and the macabre are probably like at least 75% of my personality 😅 so I have a number of artists I can recommend. you may have already seen it, but in another artist match available here, I talked about some artists whose work is on the darker, unsettling side, so those may interest you as well. but not all of those artists necessarily do the macabre or the gothic more specifically, and of course I want to give you your own personal list of artists 🥰, I just wanted to put those out there if you'd like even more dark art to peruse ☺️
I'm always excited to find folks to talk about dark, macabre, gothic art with, and I'm thrilled to share these artists with you and I hope you find something you like!
without further ado, here's a list of artists I think you might like (with more details and images below the cut!)
Caspar David Friedrich
Pieter Claesz
John Bauer
Theodor Kittelsen
Caspar David Friedrich (The Abbey in the Oakwood and The Hunter in the Forest)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
we absolutely must start with my beloved Friedrich! these two paintings are both on my list of favorite artworks of all time. Friedrich was a romantic painter, which in this context doesn't mean "romantic" like we think of the word today, but instead refers to an interest in the "sublime" - a kind of transcendence that could be achieved equally through great beauty and great terror/horror/awe. it was also often highly associated with the power and vastness of nature. we totally see that in many of Friedrich's works. not all of his paintings are explicitly spooky or dark, but he does tend to focus on vast landscapes and skyscapes that tend to overwhelm any human figures in the composition, which leads to a haunting feeling of unease. these two works really exemplify that for me. in the first, we have the ruins of a gothic abbey (gothic architecture is my favorite, so that's part of the reason I adore this piece) and these old wizened trees in this kind of hazy fog over the snow. and in the second, a hunter stands before this dark, imposing forest that consumes the canvas. in the face of these trees, the human seems fragile and powerless. so, while not outwardly macabre, I picked Friedrich for you since his works have that kind of underlying feeling of unease that feels so quintessentially gothic to me.
Pieter Claesz (Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill and Vanitas Still Life)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely could not make recommendations on macabre art without mentioning a vanitas painter (if you want to know more about this style of art I also have a post here where I ramble on about it for possibly way too long 😅). Claesz also painted regular still lives of just like food and stuff, but it's because of his large number of vanitas paintings that I'm matching him with you ☺️. one thing about him: my mans is not afraid to paint a skull, and we love him for that. I fear I don't have much more profound commentary on this one, because when I see his work my mind goes blank and there are no thoughts except "cool skull." his vanitas paintings just feel very macabre to me, but in a delicate way?? (I have no idea if that makes sense). I just love the scattered collections of items and his liberal deployment of skulls.
John Bauer (The Magic Ride and Princess Tuvstarr Gazing Down into the Dark Waters of the Forest Tarn)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you're interested in the more supernatural side of the macabre/gothic, you might really like Bauer's illustrations for Among Gnomes and Trolls, a collection of Swedish fairytales/folktales. I was absolutely in awe the first time I saw these illustrations - they just have such a sense of magic and mystery to them. while they certainly are on the more whimsical side, I find that there's also an undeniable darkness in them. the rolling hills and piles of rocks that fade off into darkness, the thin, leafless trees that seem to go on forever in the shadowy background, the ambiguity of time and space - it just gives them this slightly eerie feeling, like you've stepped into another world and you may not be entirely welcome there. for me, these illustrations certainly ride that line between the beautiful and the terrifying, which makes them all the more compelling. I'm not sure if I've done a great job explaining myself here, but I hope you enjoy Bauer's works regardless of my rambling!
Theodor Kittelsen (She Covers the Whole Country and The Pauper from the Pesta series)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not all of Kittelsen's work is necessarily macabre, but his series of prints called Pesta certainly is. Pesta (meaning plague) depicts various personifications of plague moving through the countryside and killing all those in its path. sometimes shown as a flock of carrion birds, sometimes as a horde of rats, and even as a frightening ghoul-like figure, plague stalks the landscape in each of these haunting prints. they actually depict deceased bodies, which might make these the most literally macabre images of the lot. Kittelsen also has some other cool pieces depicting mythological creatures like trolls and water spirits. they have these glowing eyes and they're both creepy and super cool. I just didn't include them here because I had just talked about folklore with Bauer, but I would absolutely recommend you check them out if that's something you find interesting. and these are only two images that I felt were most representative of the Pesta series, you should definitely check out the rest if you liked these!
those are the artists with whom I would match you! 🥰 a little gothic, a little macabre, a little supernatural ☺️
I hope you enjoyed these artists and their works and that you've found some new macabre art to explore!
sending love and just the right amount spookiness,
charlotte 💙

Ok, I haven't kept up with troy baker, but if you don't mind me asking, what did he do to be a bad person? (I have gotten a bad feeling from him before, but could never place why, and I only know him thru kojima stuff, not interviews)
I'll still always love my boy higgs tho
(Even if i have to seperate art from the artist)
Nonny, I'm going to be real. I was very tempted to not answer this. I don't like stirring the pot. That being said, I do feel people shouldn't hold celebrities to godlike tiers so I'll share a bit of my experience. All I ask in return is to please not take my response as an invitation to pry further.
This has nothing to do with his NFT stint, the David controversy, or the Window To The Abbey/pledge music fiasco that's been circulated around the internet for the record.
I and several creators interacted with Troy during the height of the pandemic. Everybody got to know one another very well. To his credit, Troy was generous with his time. He taught us a lot about the industry, shared his experiences, and hung out with everyone like "one of the guys". This went on for about a year or so, give or take. I've had some great conversations and experiences with him myself.
There was a miscommunication between me and him at some point. This coincided with me being sick, and long story short, he hit me several times when I was already down. And I've spent the past two almost three years trying to find closure and get over it.
I don't wish him ill despite my bitching in the tags at times. I don't hate him. However, I do acknowledge he's a very flawed person, and there are things he needs to work on. I still enjoy the work he has done, but I wouldn't trust him again as an individual in confidence. He lost that.
I'm not going to pretend I'm perfect, either. I know I'm not, and I honor that, but when you've lost my trust, you've lost my trust. At the end of the day, I doubt he cares about that, and it's painful to say cause it takes a lot for me to get to this point with someone.
Does it upset me that people love the guy to death? No. Troy is talented, and I know firsthand he has the capacity for kindness when it suits him. I don't want to spit on the positive experiences people have had with him. I'd rather let his own actions speak for himself.
I'm sharing my two cents because I feel as fans--and people in general--we need to be mindful that celebrities are human. They make mistakes and can hurt us just like anybody else.
But if you can help it, don't meet your heroes.

what inspires your writing?
oh this is such a nice question, anon! thanks for sending!
honestly I don't have a straight answer to this. but a lot of my fics give ideas to even more fics or nuanced strands of ideas i can explore. or usually it coincides with what topic I am researching into at the moment - "research" in quotes because it's just more of lots of Googling and collecting information in a notion page lmao. for example, my recent fic with trystan being this person who relies on trickery to get by, was supposed to be a nod to Veles, essentially the trickster god in Slavic mythology - especially because (i'm taking this from wikipedia for a more simpler definition):
According to reconstruction by some researchers, he is the opponent of the supreme thunder god Perun. As such he probably has been imagined as a dragon, which in the belief of the pagan Slavs is a chimeric being resembling a cross between a bear and a snake that devours livestock.
(did i just see snake, dragons and go "yoooo drakovia"? yes. jk but I have been looking into Veles/Volos's story for quite sometime; blame the mythology hyperfixation that pops up every now and then)
but then the reference never made it in because I just couldn't put it into words. however trystan being a magician-adjacent person has been living rent-free in my head. i dont know, i guess I have a special likeness to 'pathetic clowns who can do magic' trope.
some of my fics have been inspired by songs or films - generally other media. chosen family is, yes, a rina sawayama song. meeting at a crosswalk was inspired by the Beatles's abbey road album art - I was listening to a lot of Beatles. I also never really got over my 'past lives' obsession, with have we met before? and exploring the concept of In-Yun as described in the movie (i don't explain it in the fic, but it draws a lot of inspiration; i remember watching THAT BAR SCENE and just babbling incoherently). fourth wall has a very similar energy to that one 'into the spiderverse' scene where miles and peter b. parker are chased across town.
so i just borrow the 'vibes' if I can call it that from what i see around, but the stuff i build on it is purely dependent on what i'm feeling like at that moment or what works best. (sidebar: i love love talking about my writing process lmao, it's the most chaotic thing ever and brings me so much despair but I just love it for what it is)
so yes, specific vibes; specific themes and whatever goes on top, does. which is why my fics are just so specific lmao. like it is this one specific sliver of emotion which is lost in, what I'd call, a salad bowl of a mess. Believe me I have tried writing from a general standpoint; trying to use writing prompts to help me out but then, it spirals into this specific madness that I can never crawl out of. it's become an integral part and I don't think it is going anytime soon lmao.

i was tagged by @leatafandom — thank you!! it was fun both to see your answers and to think about/look up mine <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
99. some day #100 will be posted but who knows when or what that will be lolol
2. What’s your total A03 word count?
395,538
3. What fandoms do you write for?
currently none; i'm doing original stuff only lately. however i have things on ao3 written for marvel (specifically the asgardian faction), downton abbey, what we do in the shadows, and of course most recently (and also least recently...i've come full circle) supernatural
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
seize the crown (wwdits, e)
friendly favors (wwdits, e)
judges of character (downton abbey, gen)
"mr barrow has the flu" (downton abbey, t)
thomas barrow and the power of friendship (downton abbey, t)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yessss i love responding to comments!!! i appreciate them so much, and i love an opportunity to talk about my writing <3 i can understand why people might prefer not to, especially on a place like ao3 which is technically an archive, but i like the community feel of interacting with readers on there (and i love it when other authors reply to my comments so kind of a golden rule situation)
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hm...technically the song remains the same (spn, t) has the least desirable endingbut imo passive (mcu, gen), which is entirely about grief and denial, is angstier despite "brother died" being a less dramatic problem than "stuck in eternal crushing hell isolation"
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
to me it's phantom fangs (wwdits, t), my little vampirism-as-trans-allegory project! it's a bit of a bummer at times but to me the ending is so happy <3
8. Do you get hate on your fic?
i haven't!
9. Do you write smut?
yee. although i'm never sure if i want to write smut lmao but it sure does happen a fair amount sometimes
10. Do you write crossovers?
it's not generally my thing, although i do enjoy heavy allusions. i do have at least one though!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i'm aware of (i have had art stolen though RIP)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes! although i'm not sure the translation is up anymore; it was a number of years ago
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
no...i'm curious about this but i'm not sure how it would go? but anyway no, at least not yet
14. What‘s your all-time favourite ship?
formally it's samifer because i got my fandom phd in this lol but who even knows in actuality tbh
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i'm soooo haunted by the last chapter of crimsonpeaknatural aka hollow's gate (spn, e). it is my longest fic on ao3 by far and is literally one chapter from done, i just can't bring myself to write the last ~7k. it is fully outlined. i know what happens in it. i just can't write it! why
i also started a michean fic over the summer that i really like but i doubt it'll ever be finished. at least i never posted any of that though :p
16. What’s your writing strengths?
imo characterization/perspective, atmosphere, and prose versatility. maybe pacing? i've gotten comments on that a few times but it's less of a self-observed strength
17. What’s your writing weaknesses?
i don't know what plots are <3 also sometimes my prose wraps around to being a little too circular for its own good so that's both a strength and a weakness of mine lol.
tbh i'm also bad at killing my darlings, especially when it comes to scenes i'm obsessed with, unless i give myself a LONG time to edit. like, on the order of months
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i'm not really a fan of this as a reader and i prefer not to do it as a writer, but also i'm not going to knock it on principle because i do understand the appeal, especially to people who are writing primarily for themselves and are comfortable in both/all the languages they're including. it can be fun sometimes to see the differences between the language the dialogue and the translation gives (if they provide one) if the language is one i'm also familiar with.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
harry potter. y'know...what can you do lol it is what it is. i wrote the kind of dramione angst you'd expect of a person like me who was 13yo at the time
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
ohhhh i don't know. i had SO much fun writing poker face (spn, e) and i think it succeeds at doing everything i wanted it to do. this isn't an objective answer but i am genuinely very happy with that one so it is my answer atm!
no-pressure tagging @artoodeeblue, @fandom-space-princess, @quietwingsinthesky, and anybody else who would like to do this!

MH RELATED:
Okay I don’t know if anyone knows this or will even see it but I need more Abbey x Heath posts man. They were always so cute to me and they balance each other so well, I wish there was a movie for them because they’re so adorable. I don’t come across a lot of content like that so I need more posts about them, I will literally bite a door off its hinges if I’m able to get one small wholesome post about them. They’re just amazing and I love their dynamic so much, they were my favorite ship as a kid and it’s slowly opening up more to me now since Monster High is coming back.
So if you ever see this, if anyone does please please tag me in ship art and posts about them I will literally soak it all up and cherish it. Or even @ me that’s even better honestly, but I’m appreciative of anything just nothing inappropriate please I just want wholesome stuff. But only if you want but I would be so grateful if someone did. <3

While I recognize I’m too damn old for tumblr...
I accept the risk that I am shouting this out into the void. Having said so...Here are some thoughts I have had on bullying in the present and the past.
There is something people who refuse to engage in or use our time bullying that bullies--and abusive personalities--of nearly every stripe will simply never have. I wish with all my faded ginger hair-covered Druid brains that this thing was enough to protect the targets of abusers and bullies. I can’t pretend, even for an instant that it’s enough on its own; that would be dangerous and irresponsible. What I hope is that by sharing something even so simple that it’s probably a gold medalist in the “staggeringly obvious” category, if you’ve missed it or forgotten it, that you may get some recharge or some reinforcement or affirmation out of it. Thank you for bearing with me, whoever you are.
In Roald Dahl’s Matilda there’s a scene where Mr. Wormwood rips the book out of his daughter hands in rage that she is enjoying something that he cannot see the point of, that he cannot share or experience for himself, without (I think) reflecting on why this may be so. He rips every page from her library copy of The Red Pony,  this self-righteous rage at what he sees as exclusion (spoiler: it’s not exclusion Mr. awful fictional father of the year) just accelerating at every tear and crumple.
What he can’t see is that he has not been excluded, unfairly or otherwise; he has exiled himself. An enormous percentage of bullies and abusers (I think) have at some point in their life exiled themselves without necessarily realizing that it was the kind of exile most likely to become forever. They do this for uncountable reasons, for all the motivations the kinder (than me, I am neither nice nor forgiving) guidance counselors and teachers and checked-out but well meaning parents assign; instability or violence they themselves are suffering from, insecurity, fear, unmanaged rage, undiagnosed mental health needs, the desperate need to fill a void by fitting in with some people even those people are predatory f&ckwafflers...Or even more benign reasons. More understandable and relatable reasons. All of their friends have declared themselves too old for She-Ra and just want to watch Grease. Jim Henson dies and suddenly nobody thinks Muppets are cool. Art projects are never going to be as good as That One Girl who Can Draw...
(Sometimes I think it’s happened because historically, things have been really, deeply bad and people have been pulled away from “childish stuff” to grow up faster, provide for their family in need sooner. Given how things went down in the Depression for my grandfather and basic empathy I am not here to cr&p on anybody in that position.)
What I’m getting at is that for a wide variety of possible reasons, good bad and ugly...people give up their appreciation of wonder. Sometimes it’s bit by bit so someone doesn’t even notice, sometimes it’s accelerated. Once gone though, it’s not impossible to get back but it is difficult, and our general society in the US doesn’t make that easier.
Now the historian in me is making faces and grunting and preparing to sit up and hurl things--probably unintelligible personal papers from the 18th century or Civil War privy contents or toenail clippings of the Venerable Bede so let me just clarify; this is a theory based on the experiences and interpretations of literary and non fiction works by one person. One. I’m an undergrad lit major, I have a grad degree in history and some training in Mainline Liberal Ministry. I am spectacularly good at being wrong; I could be wrong here.
A sense of wonder and joy does not have to come from the Big Experiences in your life--that trip you were lucky to take to the Grand Canyon, the fan vaulting in Westminster Abbey, the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean, or a whale watch. I mean it can...of course it can but it can be very small as well...Skyscapes at 2pm from on foot wherever you live or for a hot minute in the car or through a window. The cat doing something ridonculous... A color in an ad on a Bus, a sparrow. TREES.--okay now I’m getting into what could be mistaken as Inspirational BS here so moving on...it can be a book, a story that grips each side of your head, pulls you down to the page and will not let you go until it’s over and you’re transported, transformed, legally High off Your Arse...wishing there was more. Sometimes it doesn’t matter worth a damn how you encounter that story--book, TV, movie, song...
It is my theory based on empirical observations and data from a very limited sample pool, I genuinely suspect, I even believe it is possible that bullies and abusers have exiled themselves so profoundly from Wordsworth’s (I can’t stand the guy but he got this idea right) “Inner Eye” and from the capacity to take in the larger world that they have lost the ability to do so in any way. There’s no inspiration or laughter or strength or hope or determination to draw from anything but domination of every nasty kind possible over anyone they can get into a position to dominate. (However unfounded my concern may be to clarify I do not mean a healthy responsible Dom/Sub dynamic here). In actuality, dominate may be the word they use to themselves, consciously but it’s really more about needing to tyrannize (not in the Greek city state definition) and then destroy any and all opposition. That imperative grows until a child reading a book becomes how dare they!?! because the bully/abuser recognizes that here is at least some portion of another human being’s experience that they can no more control than they can shape the weather. That chink in the armor, that gap in the advancing charge, that inaccessible bit is an unholy and raging terror to a lot of bullies and abusers.
if you’ve been bullied it may well have been more than I was. It may still be going on. You may be in the slow and horrendously dangerous process of extracting yourself and everyone you love from the reach of one or more of the worst kind of bullies: abusers. I wish I could help you more than by simply saying all this. I’m more sorry than you will likely ever know that it’s not enough. But it’s out there.  (PS, I have ADHD. There will be typos.)

i think some things get mistranslated between the designs from mattel's designers and the show's animators. like abbey's horns turning into hair buns and draculaura's shirt
i'm sure other stuff gets purposefully simplified to make it easier to animate
Yeah, it does make me wonder what kind of references Mattel sends the show's team. From what some of the artist's have said behind the scenes when posting their work, it sounds more like Mattel sends them images of the actual dolls and not the concept art for the dolls (which does make sense, since that would give them 3D references for a 3D animated show), but a lot of the changes are still really bizarre to me if that's the case. Thinking about changes like Abbey's horns being turned into buns, it does make me think they might also be going off the movie designs as well to an extent for some reason. Maybe the show and the movie were going to be directly connected instead of following their own continuities or something, so they kept the designs they already had which still accomodated for the movie's designs.
As for simplifying, I did think that at first too, but that isn't much of a problem when using 3D models compared to 2D (and even then, with G1's webseries for example they used puppet animation), definitely is still a possibility though.

Wally has packed an emergency kit with food, Mad-Libs and condoms]
Dick: Condoms?
Wally : We don't know how long we're gonna be stuck here. We might have to repopulate the world.
Dick: And condoms are the way to do that?
///
Wally: You think I need a new walk?
Dick: What?
Wally: Well I've had the same walk since high school and you know how when a guy walks into a room and everybody takes notice. I think I need a 'take notice' walk.
Dick : Are you actually saying these words?
Wally: I am telling this to Megan .
Jade : No, Wally .
Wally : Unless...
Dick: Unless what?
Wally : Unless you name your first born after me.
Dick : What? Why?
Wally : Because, I may never have kids. Somebody's gonna have to carry on my family name.
Dick : Your family name is west.
[pause]
Wally : Oh ho ho. You almost had me there.
Wally just got ordained via the internet so that he could perform Jade and dick’s wedding]
Wally : Hey, I started working on what I'm going to say at the ceremony. Wanna hear it?
Jade, Dick : Yeah.
Wally: We are gathered here today on this joyous occasion to celebrate the special love that Jade and Dick share.
[Jade and Dick look impressed]
Wally: It is a love based of giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have... and receive.
[later]
Wally: Okay, you guys, I've got a little more written... are you ready?
Dick: Yeah, yeah. Okay.
Wally : When I think of the love that these two givers and receivers share, I cannot help but envy the lifetime ahead of having and loving and giving... and then I can't think of a good word for right here.
Jade : How bout receiving?
Wally: yes
Wally:[Dick and Wally are sightseeing in London] Alright! Westminster Abbey. Hands down. Best Abbey I ever seen.
[Wally gets out his digital camera so he can take Dick’s picture in front of the Abbey]
Wally : Hey! Ok. What do you think of the Abbey, Dick?
Dick : Yeah, I think it's great. It's great. You know, they're thinking of changing the name of this place.
Wally : Really? To what?
Dick : To put the camera away!
Wally : Man, you are Westminster Crabby
Wally: Gentlemen, we have finally done it. A pot leaf on the water tower.
Kaldur: This is the proudest moment of my life.
Dick: It doesn't look like a pot leaf. It looks like its giving me the finger.
Conner : Well it doesn't have to look perfect Grayson, it's art.
Wally : [they're driving Kent’s cousin's car] Why does Clark have a statue of the Virgin Mary on his dashboard?
Conner: Maybe he's, like, religious.
Dick: Didn't Clark get imprisoned for arson?
Conner : Yeah. People who burn stuff believe in God too, Grayson .
Dick : Why does his key-chain say "I Love Bingo"?
Kladur : Clark must love bingo.
Wally: All right. I'm starting to think this isn't Sully's car.
Conner : Then who's car is it?
[police siren wails]
Wally;[upset after having realizing Dick lied to him] Tell me this is not about her, or I am walking. I am walking off this job right now.
Dick : Who?
Wally: Jade . Will Harper . Tell me this is not about screwing the guy who's screwing your wife.
Dick: Ex-wife.
Wally: Tell me.
Dick: It's not about that.
[pause]
Dick: It's not entirely about that.
[Wally turns away, furious]
Dick:wall , do you remember what we said back when we first got into this business. We said we were gonna play the game...
Wally , Dick: Like we had nothing to lose.
Dick: Well, I lost something... I lost someone. That's why I'm here.
[long pause]
Wally: Okay, here's the problem. We're stealing two things. And when push comes to shove, and you can't have both, which are you gonna choose? And remember - Jade does not split eleven ways!
Dick has just got out of jail]
Dick: Hi!
Jade : [in Wally’s car] Hi. We need to get Wally a girl.
Wally: [jokingly] There's a women's prison down the road.
Dick: [noticing Jade is wearing her wedding ring] You said that you sold this.
Jade : I said that.
Dick : Liar.
Jade:Thief.
[they kiss]
Dick : You must be Lian.
Lian: Uh-huh.
Dick: [to Will] And you must be Lian’s grandpa
Will [to Artemis ] I suppose you're the one who introduced Jade to that slutty, little--
Artemis : Don't say it, Will ;you'll just be demeaning all men. And yes.
Will : Figures. Well, I don't want him [Dick] around my daughter.
Jade: Oh, oh, oh, really? So, do I get to screen the women that you're dating? And let's not forget, I know about that lady who delivered the truckload of sod.
Will: What about her?
Jade:[scoffs] It doesn't take two months to put down a new lawn, will.
Artemis : Sounds like he got laid before the sod did.

'Ahead of his upcoming Netflix show, Golden Globe nominee Andrew Scott discusses how the first job of an actor is to “be playful”.
Known for his work on Sherlock, Fleabag, and All of Us Strangers, Scott will now take on the iconic role of Tom Ripley in the new series Ripley.
From his first successes as the villainous James Moriarity to winning hearts as the Hot Priest, Scott has taken on his fair share of demanding roles.
He told The Anton Savage Show, however, that the most important thing about acting is remaining playful.
“You play a part,” he said. “You're required not to work apart, but to play a part and your work is playing.
“To be able to be instinctive and to be able to listen means you have to be really, really present-minded and what you don't know what someone's going to say until they say it.
“It’s the art of pretending that you don't know what you're going to say next when you absolutely do know because you've read the script.”
Scott the non-academic Scott studied in drama in Trinity College Dublin for six months before dropping out to join Dublin's Abbey Theatre.
He said he was never particularly interested in the academic side of acting.
“Sometimes the academics or the research, even though it's very beneficial for people, it's not the first priority for acting,” he said.
“Your first priority, for me, as an actor is to be playful.
“That for me is about being completely alive in the same way that a child is – when you say to a child, ‘Right, you’re going to play a doctor’ and they say ‘Okay’.
“We're encouraged as children to use our imagination and we have playgrounds for children, and as we as we move into adulthood, it's all about being sophisticated.”
The role of the con-artist Tom Ripley certainly has opportunities to get playful, something Scott has sunk his teeth into.
“So much of the stuff is not actually about what he's feeling necessarily, but I think the pleasure for the audience is what he's thinking,” he said.
“I think to see any talented person exhibit their talents with expertise is always really wonderful for an audience to watch.
“We don't start the story thinking this person is bloodthirsty... a lot of the stuff that he does is out of necessity, and I think that's why he's such an endearing character.
“This version of the story really takes us through his thought process and his geographical journey and his psychological journey and his transformation.”
Ripley airs on Netflix on April 4th...'

I saw people in my art high school drawing WAY worst things than this. And the internet has much more weird stuff to offer. Plus, I don't think it's that big a deal because you didn't post anything too scandalous (like a literal naked body etc.) and the maximum you have done are the sexual jokes that I find hilarious and had me giggled. Like you said, it's your art, you can do whatever you want. The best advise i could give you is maybe put annotation if there is something REALLY scandalous (or does tumbr censor it by itself?Dunno).
For me, for as soon as an artist doesn't sexualize literal children, it's oke.
(And I don't think you're doing it for someone else, so I appreciate it)
I don’t think i will ever post art with actual l nudity i would feel so embarrassed yikes 😬 thats not my kind of art, the most sexual in nature art i have created is my abbey x cupid piece where they still wear underwear and aren’t even doing anything but the vibes and scenario is suggestive, that one is labelled mature with the community labels.
and the closest to nudity i will ever draw is the greek goddess cupid artwork which isn’t intended to be sexual nudity and is still censored anyway (as stated in the tags i based it off Aphrodite descriptions which legit just described her as nude with maybe a small piece of cloth barely covering her nether regions and lots of jewellery)
With my text stuff i don’t consider it explicit enough for community labels?? If its like a smut fic then yeah im gonna label that as mature duh. But considering this is the site where your dashboard has a line of sex worker livestreams at the top and every time “gay” trends you’re greeted by all kinds of irl nudes- i really don’t think my non community labeled stuff crosses any lines.

Radiohead - OK Computer
Tumblr media
Transport, motorways and tramlines / Starting and then stopping / Taking off and landing / The emptiest of feelings / Disappointed people / Clinging on to bottles
This is a big day for the blog! Working through the lists, I’ve been excited to get to the albums. Music is such a major part of Hipsterdom, it almost felt wrong to not yet have any album review here.
So I’m going to start out by committing full on Music Internet suicide. This is the first on the list, so it’s the one I’m doing, and I have to be honest with myself and the 0 people reading this:
I don’t really get what the big deal is with Ok Computer.
Before you get the pitchforks– well, no, carry on, but before you set them on fire– I do think it’s a good album. It has its strengths, which I want to focus in on. But first or second of all time for decades running according to Rate Your Music? You’re telling me this droning is better than Abbey Road or Kind of Blue or Dark Side of the Moon or In the Aeroplane Over the Sea or Funeral or Illinois or Helplessness Blues or…? Am I being gaslit by a quarter-century of Music Internet? I get the feeling that I’d like Ok Computer and the entire Radiohead discography more if everyone else liked it less (how's that for hipster.) If this was just known as a Good Album, which it is, I wouldn’t feel this pressure to understand why Radiohead fans in general think that Thom Yorke’s mumbling makes for The Greatest Band Ever.
So, let’s just try to unplug and listen.
This is 90s Gen X disillusionment not-quite-grunge type of media, which always feels a little poorly aged, though at its best you get stuff like Fight Club, Alex Garland’s The Beach, Nirvana, and David Foster Wallace. I think what keeps Radiohead from reaching those heights is its unwillingness most of the time to have any fun with the sanding belts of corporate life. Ok Computer’s best moments come from breaking out of the drone and playing a bit with its form and melody, allowing for moments that can actually be remembered. Those moments also define the theme or concept inasmuch as there’s any commitment to one, evoking digital isolation and control. I know this has been pointed at as prophetic, and, yeah, I can see that, though of course more contemporary art actually made in our Age of Tech-Corporate Dopamine does it in a more relevant way. There’s the early experimenting with vocaloids in “Paranoid Android.” There's the jazzy influence and alien abduction plot of “Subterranean Homesick Alien,” even if it’s a bit of an unwarranted dig at Bob Dylan to have that allusory title on a song that has nothing to do with his masterpiece.
As I listen to the album for the second or third time, I’ll admit that the melodies stand out better after a few listens. “Exit Music For a Film” is the grandest composition, building from the acoustic intro to a crescendo that the rest of the album could learn something from, appropriate given it was originally written for a Shakespeare adaptation. “Let Down” almost has, perish the thought, a hook with a tune, and thanks to those opening lines quoted at the top of the post, is one of the best melancholy train songs (a crucial mood to have in your library– note one of the best, it's nothing on Vashti Bunyan's "Train Song.") Then there's the very symbolic duel between acoustic guitar and synthesizer at the end. “Karma Police” has its entrancing piano runs, which lead into the best moment of the album, “Fitter Happier.” The synthesizer absolutely victorious, sounding like a breaking-down sci-fpropagandic indoctrination reel into suburban mundanity, hinting hauntingly at a receiver of the message who plucks wings off of moths in apathetic sociopathy, this is a genuinely haunting and memorable piece of art, and I do think it’s one of the best “songs” of the ‘90s, precisely because it stretches that definition a little.
Pragmatism not idealism
saith the robot masters. If that isn't the antithesis to all hipster ideology!
"Fitter Happier" is such a climax that it’s a bit disappointing to return to Thom Yorke’s nasal whine. I recognize what that whine adds to the songs, but for some reason it just doesn’t work for me as well as his contemporary Mangums and Meloys. Maybe it’s because I can’t actually hear most of the lyrics? Speak up, sir.
Anyway, we return from the fascinating netherworld of “Fitter Happier” into the regular Radiohead world with “Electioneering,” a pretty bombastic song that starts with a cantering Beatlesy guitar riff and builds quickly into big-sounding rock. The only other remotely memorable moment on the back half is the pleasantly pretty, lyrically ironic “No Surprises,” a song good enough to almost make me like Yorke’s vocals. Sadly “Climbing Up the Walls” has nothing to do with top-roping. "The Tourist" is a satisfactory closer, with its buildup and thesis refrain of "hey, man, slow down," delivered better than it sounds here.
I think I need to listen to Ok Computer on a train through the city at night. This is definitely night train music, and sitting at home in the incessant prairie sunlight, this doesn’t feel like the right way to appreciate it.
Finally, apparently this album was recorded in a haunted mansion in the English countryside, which I love. That's worth some credit in itself.
I give this hipster album four pigs in cages on antibiotics out of five.
Because even though it's growing on me, Neon Bible is still better.
Project Hipster is a futile and disorganized attempt to dive into the world of things that the internet has at some point claimed "are hipster," mostly through ListChallenges search results.
This review comes from the fifth list, The Hipster's Guide to Music.
Stay deck.

So thommy right?
But make it soft
Jimmy and Thomas sitting across from each other before the fire in the servant’s hall in those rocking chairs. Ankles side by side or even crossing each other. Jimmy is slouched in the chair, near asleep as the clock ticks on the mantle. And Thomas is softly reading to him from a collection of Christina Rossetti poems. His words flowed like music and Jimmy bathed himself in it.
But also think one eye cracking open when Thomas stopped reading, seeing the man rubbing at his eyes at this late of an hour and Jimmy is sitting up. Disentangling their ankles and hearing his spine pop. He needs to get Thomas up to bed, they need sleep. And so they both make their way up the stairs after curbing the fire and coals. Before departing to their rooms they have a small moment of saying goodnight. All sleepy and sore from the day.
Thomas has Jimmy plastered to his front, yawning and hugging him around the middle. And Thomas smiles, hums richly in his chest and returns the goodnight hug. It's affection and they both bask in it. Being touch starved is for tossers. Having a healthy appreciation for it is for them.
They're open and welcoming to each other. And it's evident in their teasing and their downtime.

Looking at how people talk about Thomas as a character it is easy to see a separation of eras for him.
Pre Jimmy, during Jimmy, and post Jimmy. Then the darker, breakdown era within the post Jimmy era.
I will not elaborate but we all know it.

Too all the people who created fan content for RT AH and seeing what is coming out.
Too all the people who spent countless hours working on fan content and are seeing this shit show.
To all the people who feel like they wasted days, months, or years creating stuff for a YouTube company that is shattering.
I feel for you as I am along side you. But what was not wasted was the hours spent honning your work to be better than before.
Take the knowledge of betterment and move on from this train wreck. Use the skills gained from this to your advantage. Do not give up be it art. Edits. Writings. Or even simple cutting of audio/video.
Keep going foreward and breath a bit easier that it was not wasted. At least not entirely.
