Custom Paths Overlay

I don’t know if this is obvious to everyone but me but I just found out this cool “hack” for round custom paths. In Animal Crossing New Horizons when you finally unlock your terraforming app (also known as island designer app) there are 10 different paths you can create including custom paths.

All paths except for the custom paths have a very natural look to them around the edges + they can’t be destroyed just by pressing y + they can be rounded around the corners unlike custom paths that can look unnatural and blocky.

BUT!! There is a way to fix this problem to get the best of both worlds~

it is important to note that your custom path must have at least 1 transparent pixel to make this hack work; making all animal crossing new leaf qr code paths unusable for this hack.

The transparent paint tool is always the far right paint option for any of the color palettes. For this design I made the middle pixel of my star transparent and you can hardly tell.

So now that’s out of the way, the hack is really easy.

Lay down any of the 9 pre-made paths however you want. I chose the brick path since my custom design is brick and I wanted the sound effects to be the same. Make sure that you have it exactly how you want (with rounded corners and all) before doing step 2.

Switch to your custom design and put it on top of the pre-made path. It will act like a overlay and conform to the shape of the path beneath it.

You’re done! Step back and enjoy your finish product.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately these custom designs will still be easily destroyed if you press y while near them but the pre-made path underneath it will be left untouched.

Hey all! With the New Horizons release looming on the horizon (yes, pun intended!) I decided I would create a challenge for anyone who wanted to do something a little special on launch day and, if you would like, on the infinite amount of days after it.

The goal of this challenge is to document your island in a way that makes you happy and really showcases what progress you’ll be making on it in the coming months. This is also to give people a chance to make good use of the amazing new camera of ACNH and the Nintendo Switch’s recording features!

This is how it works:

1. Choose a method of documentation for your island. I personally will attempt to do video diaries and encourage others to do so as well, but digital scrapbooking, journaling with pictures, or just plain blog posting will do just fine too!

2. Set a timeline for yourself. When will you post? Ideally, you’ll document the bare bones of your island to start soon after it comes out (or whenever you get it!), but after that....Every week? Every other week? Every month? Quarterly? It’s all up to you! At the same time, you are 100% free to just use this as a one-time challenge. Creative freedom, party people!

3. Reblog this post, then make a post with your plans for the challenge. Include the following in your post:

The unique tag you will be using. I’ll be using #figportdiaries

The tag #acnhdiarychallenge

The method of documentation you’ll be using. I personally will do a combo of “vlogs” and posting pictures!

When/how frequently you’ll post.

Your goals for the challenge. Is this just a way for you to keep tabs on how your island grows, or a much deeper nostalgic look back for years to come?

You may also include any links to pre-launch planning you’ve done! Island maps, mood boards, etc.

4. On launch day (or whenever you get your copy) explore for a bit, then document! Whether in videos, pictures, or writing, here’s what you could include:

Your island name and layout.

Your character.

Your starting fruit, town hall location, and airport color/design.

Your starting residents.

Your favorite natural features of the island.

Where you decided to set up your home.

Simple first-day activities.

And anything else cool that you could include!

Side note: Don’t fret if you can’t post on launch day! This challenge can be done at any time, even if you start it long after the game comes out or in the middle of your island adventures. I myself will probably not be able to post on the 20th, so don’t sweat it!

5. If you decide to continue to the challenge after the first diary, make a plan for what you want to feature in your following posts! Are you a museum junky who is setting out to collect them all? An aesthetic island planner who just wants everything in its place? Do you have a deeply dramatic soap opera storyline you want to play out on your island? Whatever it is, share it with the world via this challenge!

6. And finally, HAVE FUN! Remember: this challenge is for YOU! Your “diary” can be as long or as short as you want it - a cinematic masterpiece of an island trailer, a simple paragraph with a picture or two, or even just a bulleted list. Also, remember to hype others up who are doing the challenge! This is about community - and its way more fun if you see it that way too!
