"Ah, fudge!", John said, facepalming. They had just walked back into the changing room after their ice-hockey training.

"What's up?", Mike asked.

"Forgot my helmet at the rink. I'll be right back!"

John rushed out, grabbed his helmet from the bench right next to the ice, straightened up and-

dropped the helmet. It bounced a few times on the ice. It made loud thuds.

"Watson! You alright?", a voice from somewhere on John's left hand side yelled.

"Yeah, Greg, just forgot my...", John's eyes were fixed on the boy on the ice rink. It was a figure skater. A really beautiful figure skater. "Um..." His skating was... beautiful. His face was beautiful. In fact everything about him was beautiful. "My uh..."

The skater finished a flawless pirouette, in a half sitting position, his leg stretched out. How is that even- Wait- why did he stop- oh my god. Is he coming- what- wait that's-

"Your helmet?", the figure skater asked with a kind smirk on his lips. A kind smirk?! What the hell is a kind smirk?!

"Sorry- what?", John asked, after his brain finally registered that the figure skater had said something.

"You forgot your helmet?"

"I- uh... Yeah- I-", John let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. He half recognized Greg smirking at him, bemused.

"Do you wanna go-", a side glance at his friend proved his suspicion. He didn't care. "On a..." Damn, this guy has gorgeous eyes. John gulped. "Date? With me?" Where did that question come from?

The boy raised his eyebrows. "Is that it?"

"Is that what?", John countered.

"We only just met. And we're gonna go on a date."

Oh, shit. He hadn't been thinking. He had just spoken. Come on, Watson. Get a grip! Confidence! Confidence is everything! "Problem?", John asked, feeling himself grin (hopefully convincingly).

The skater bandied looks with Greg, bemused as well as amused. He shifted his weight on one hip, then looked John up and down. "We don't know a thing about each other. I don't know where we're meeting. I don't even know your name."

Oh, right. Awkwardly John fumbled with his helmet, stuck it under his left arm, so he could extend his right, "John Watson. Speedy's. Tomorrow night at six P.M.?"

The boy shook his hand, with a suspicious eye. "Sherlock. And fine. But only because you're cute when you're flustered."

"Why- I am not-"

"See? Cute. See you tomorrow.", and Sherlock glided off the ice. There was a certain swing in his hips that made John drop his eyes...

"What. on earth. was that?", Greg asked with a disbelieving chuckle.

"That, Greg", John sucked in a breath. "Was me realizing, there's no way in hell I am straight." John said, still staring at the door through which the beautiful figure skater had left.

Sparkle: Where the hell is he?!? Did he forget??? I looked at my phone, it was past 10. First he had failed to pick me up, and as he didn't answer on either sms or phone calls, I thought he might already be at the university, waiting for me. I sighed deep. Daniel for fuck sake! He knew this was important to me. He knew I didn't want to show up to the art event with no date, as the other teachers had started pushing me to get a boyfriend. Who said I even wanted a boyfriend? But apparently you're supposed to have it all figured out by a certain age. Including boyfriend and paid off bank loans. I shook my head and redialed him.

Daniel: Hi sexy he moaned soft into the phone

Sparkle: Where the fuck are you man?

Daniel: Grunted in bed?

Sparkle: Well, you're supposed to be at the university…. with me!

Daniel: Moaned softly

Sparkle: Are you fucking masturbating or fucking someone?! I swear I could just kill him! Did he blow me off just for sex?!

Daniel: Uh… wait, what are you saying?

Sparkle: Are you with someone?

Daniel: Yeah? his voice sounded questioning as a matter of fact I am… problem? he chuckled hoarse

So thanks a lot you dick! I hung up the phone immediately as I was so furious, tears were gathering in my eyes. HOW COULD HE?! I mean, not the fucking someone else… it's Daniel after all. But I spoke with him yesterday. I sent him a message about it at noon today, and then he fucking forgot anyway. I kinda guess that's to be expected from Daniel too… but… for fuck sake! I looked around desperately. I could leave? No one had seen me arrive yet? Shit! There's Doris! She's the worst one! Ohgodohgod! She's coming this way!!

Danny: Sparkle?…. is that you?

Sparkle: I spun around quickly, and starred into sweet light green eyes

Danny: Ahh it is you! How nice to see you he grabbed one of my hands and stroke it softly

Sparkle: I looked at my hand in his, glared up at him with curious eyes. Who was he? There were definitely something familiar about him… his voice… his eyes…

Danny: He smiled warmly and chuckled softly Yeah, I guess I changed a lot the past year?

Sparkle: Danny?! OMG!

Danny: Nodded and chuckled warmly Yeah..

Sparkle: Oh god! I can't believe it's you!! Danny used to be this skinny geeky guy following me around about a year ago. Always asking me on dates, although I had no interest in him at all. He was good looking, rich, definitely my type. But I just weren't ready, and for some odd reason I didn't seem to find any chemistry between us either. I had ended up agreeing on a date with him. But as it didn't awaken any feelings, we had agreed to just be friends. Few weeks later our lives had turned around, and me and the gang had fled the town. Leaving Danny behind. I hadn't talked more with him, as we had all gotten new phone numbers and not contacted anyone at all, in order to try to keep off A's radar. I cringed as I heard Doris's voice behind me. I frowned and turned around slowly Hi Doris. She was just one of those annoying, nosy coworkers we all seem to have at least one of.

Doris: Her voice was fake and friendly Hi dear, how nice of you to come. A little late though? Are you feeling well, you look a bit pale today. Well more than normal.

Sparkle: I faked a smile Thank you Doris. I'm okay thank you, I guess it's the light?

Doris: Ah yes, perhaps. Florescent lights are harsh against such a pale skin. You have to be careful… if you get more pale you might turn transparent she laughed loud and high pitched

Sparkle: I sighed softly, and faked a small laughter

Doris: So where's your date dear? You are aware we're supposed to bring a date? You didn't come alone again, did you? Oh dear, you poor thing. I am so sorry for

Danny: He quickly reached his hand to her in a greeting gesture Danny Rook.

Doris: Looked at Danny in awe

Danny: I would be the date.

Sparkle: I watched Doris look at Danny in disbelief, her jaw ready to fall off. I can't say it wasn't satisfying, specially when she left without saying a word. I have never seen her leave without a mean comeback.

Danny: He leaned close to my ear and spoke in a lowered deep voice Sorry about that…. I just can't stand self-righteous people like her. I hope I didn't embarrass you?

Sparkle: Are you kidding me? I turned around and chuckled happily you just pretty much saved my night! I just can't deal with more of her shit! How can I repay you?

Danny: He smiled warmly By being my date?

Sparkle: I looked at him questioning What are you doing here anyway?

Danny: I just enlisted here, I never finished university, and after sailing for about a year, I thought it was about time to finish school? he smiled softly

Sparkle: So you knew you could find me here?

Danny: Yes. He smiled softly and kissed my hand as he picked it up again

Sparkle: I chuckled softly. I never got used to him being such a… gentleman. At first I had of course thought it was complete fake, and just to get in my pants. But he never got into them, and still acted like this. So I guess this was just Danny Rook. The one last gentleman on this earth.

Danny: Please? He looked around us a bit It's a school. It's a boring school meeting, to welcome the new students, teachers and introduce new classes and such. It's not a romantic dinner, or even the cinema. So I'm sure you won't have an allergic reaction?

Sparkle: I sighed softly and observed his face. He still had the big geek glasses, but a big full beard now covered half of his face, and he was no longer skinny. Quite bulgy and under the muscles it looked like he had also gained at least 2 clothes sizes. He had become a man.

Danny: come on Sparkle… you left without saying goodbye. I had to find you. And not in a crazy stalker way. I just had to make sure you were okay.

Sparkle: Okay, you got me Danny. That actually sent a few butterflies twirling in my stomach. So I smiled. And I grabbed on to his hand, so we were holding each other, instead of him only holding me. And I sighed softly, sending him an accepting nod Okay, but, it's a friend date, alright? I chuckled softly

Hello, everyone!! I’m back!!

I’m going to share something personal now, so the SSS is below. I’ve been hating myself lately, mostly because of my shitty habits of eating garbage but also because of my writing. I’ve been feeling like I should stop writing and give up because there are 1736373 stories better that mines and people who’d write them better than me. So, that’s why I’ve been absent, trying to not listen to my own head and trying to get out of that hole. I am SO good right now, so no need to worry (I’m keeping good habits now!)

BUT, god, there’s another story coming. I started writing like 10 years ago, mostly stories super exaggerated about my own life and issues and myself trying to cope with my insecurities and my unheard wishes. But on 2018 I had like this huge ass writer block due to a heartbreak. For the first time ever I couldn’t write, it felt so wrong because I was always writing. Then on 2020, I took advantage of the pandemic and forced myself into writing something that wasn’t sad or about my own life, (and I did! I have OCs and all) but I still couldn’t help writing about my ex because he was all I wrote about back then. AND THEN THIS THURSDAY, I found a note I had written on 2020 that was saved on iCloud, and my first thought was that it’d be cringe because it was about this guy BUT FUCKING HELL, IT WAS NOT. IT WAS FUCKING MIND-BLOWING. I was so SURPRISED when I read that because back then I was feeling like shit and had no desire or energy to write and I still wrote a hell of a story. If that didn’t inspire me, nothing else would.

And it did. It inspired the hell out of me and made me remember that every single second, I get better. And this is for everyone who feels like their writing is shit and that they should give up because no one will read them, IT IS NOT TRUE. Whatever bad thoughts you have about yourself, your worth, abilities, writing or art, it is not true. You will get better by the second and you’ll keep on learning and someone will like what you do (even if it’s yourself 2 years from now). You are not a shit artist.

So, I managed to write because I COULD NOT WRITE AFTER THAT. I also forgot what the thrill of writing was: for my enjoyment. I do write to publish them, but it’s been feeling like an obligation rather than a hobbie and it didn’t feel good this last week and a half. So, I remembered that writing is for me, because I want to and I enjoy and love it!

So, I’m back on my Simon Hanahaki AU for the angst and because me from years ago was so strong and talented, I admire her for that and I owe her to believe in myself.

“Crowley, Snow, what is wrong with you?”

This time when he coughs, I genuinely consider the sound being a growl since it wouldn’t pass him to communicate through animal noises since he already does it. But it’s not a growl. And it’s not another regular cough. I wish it was more screaming or hurtful accusations. Anything but this.

When he coughs on his hand, a few petals fall from his mouth.

“No,” I hear myself saying.

I take a step back.

“Baz?”

“No, no , no.”

I shake my head and head out of our room, hoping that will make this fake. This is all a dream. It must be. It has to be.

“Baz, where are you going?”

I brush my hands through my hair and resist the urge to pull it the same way Snow does.

It’s the closest you will ever get to him from now on.

“No.”

I leave the room and punch a hole in the closest wall on my way down the stairs. When I hear Snow trailing behind me, there’s no wall that seems more deserving of a punch than him. And there’s no Anathema out here to protect him.

Ah, yes, Baz not knowing how to deal with his emotions and therefore hitting the love of his life❤️

the work isn't THAT dark, really, it just sounds cooler when i call it my dark work, but anyway

Hi!

You can call me Ishmael (or Klepto, because it grew on me), and this is my big debut post on this site (and the interweb in general, really) as long as you ignore all those other posts on the blog already shhhhhh

I'm going to be using this blog for... A lot of things, really, but probably most notably posting art I've done! This would mostly be original setting works, though I'm not ruling out the possibility of posting the occasional fanwork, in the event I do one

Also, I might develop a game about one of these! That's not going to be very soon, but I'd like it to happen eventually, and I'll probably link to them if/when they happen

Settings I'll post art about include:

A science-fiction setting featuring a Republic of (space) Pirates, space alien cat people, humanity being one of the older, more established civilizations in the area, at least one megacorporation, and a bunch of assorted Weird Space Junk [i don't have a real name for this one oops]

A monster collector setting where people escape to a digital world to ride out the post apocalypse, but the digital animals have gotten a little, ah, hostile, which is weird because they weren't programmed to be so that shouldn't be possible [THE SPIRIT ELECTRIC]

A spooky eldritch setting in an alternate Earth where a good chunk of the America-analogue's power grid used to be plugged into a giant divine-ish tumor! It's, uh, not anymore, though! Accidents happen, and some have heavier consequences than others [Phase Theory]

A fantasy setting with like elves and giants and dragons and stuff, which isn't the best selling point, but maybe the fact that magic existing has enabled some suspiciously post-industrial technology is a better one? Also the dragons are from space kinda [Tomes]

various offshoot settings that share names with, but are somewhat different from, the main settings, and maybe blur the lines between setting A and setting B a little

yes the characters standing behind my fursoña there are each supposed to be representatives of one of those settings why do you ask

1. FILM OUT

Literal chills every single time I listen to it. The chorus always has me on tears, it's that little thing they do with [Kimi dake wo hiroi atsumete tsunagete] that kills me every.single.time. I'm sure it's gonna be in my top 10 in my spotify wrapped cuz at some point of the year I got obsessed.

2. SPRING DAY - 봄날

I’m sure this one is pretty self-explanatory, considering it might be BTS' best song in their entire discography. For some reason it stayed in the charts for so long.

3. BLACK SWAN

I put BS so high mostly because this fandom completely forgot about it (don’t worry I blame the pandemic mostly). Every single aspect of this song is literal art, from the lyrics to the beauty of the music video.

4. BUTTER

I’m an english-BTS-songs stan forever and ever, no english song can make me hate their discography and it includes these songs. Butter is the queen of their english era idec anymore, it hypes the shit out of me whenever I listen to it and whoever hates it can suck my di-

5. BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS

The reasons for this one? Idek, it scratches my brain in the best way ever.

6. AIRPLANE PT. 2

I like how it builds and the choreo. It also reminds me to my favorite BTS era ever.

7. FIRE

Hypes the shit out of me for good. I can’t stop watching the MV.

8. DANGER

I’m putting it high mostly because I denied this song for years (i’m stupid, don’t ask why) and when I finally made up my mind I hated myself for never listening to it. Good one for real and it hits so well

9. IDOL

BRING ME BACK TO THIS ERA GODDAMIT. That's all I can say really. No, kidding. The teaser already was perfect then the whole traditional instruments and the craziness of the beats just makes me wanna jump off a balcony (i’m in my charly garcia era)

10. HEARTBEAT

I’m not sure where to put this one but there's that one part, the bridge, makes this song rise automatically.

11. ON

Another hype one, it's lower than heartbeat because the bridge doesn't hit as much but overall I love listening to it.

12. MIC DROP

Can easily be put lower if you ask me. It's here because it was the first song I heard of them and the memories gives it that plus.

13. JUST ONE DAY

I learnt korean with this one SKDFLS no but seriously, yoongi's verse and the "yoongi-ah" gets me every single time. Could listen to it forever and ever honestly.

I think it was one of the first songs I listened after getting into them and that also gives it like a plus extra of reasons to be this high. Either way, it goes on so well and also the lyric and beat play with I'm Fine makes the original even better.

14. DYNAMITE

I don’t get how y'all can hate this one. I hate the remixes but the song builds so sweetly and their voices sound pretty cool with it. I like the retro style and the dance breaks for the choreos were so interesting and different. That's why I like it, it was different to other styles and their english voices are nice to hear every once in a while.

15. LIFE GOES ON

My mom calls this one the pandemic song and I laugh every single time. I think the comfort this song gives me makes it sound so good. It's always about the feelings their songs give me what makes me like them more or less. That happens with LGO

16. YET TO COME

MAKES ME CRY SM I really got freaked out thinking they were saying goodbye. Took me a bit to fully get into it and the hyundai version helped a lot.

17. SAVE ME

I think it was one of the first songs I listened after getting into them and that also gives it like a plus extra of reasons to be this high. Either way, it goes on so well and also the lyric and beat play with I'm Fine makes the original even better.

It makes me laugh a lot for some reason, I just picture them trying hard to be bad boys in the recording studio and I laugh a bit. Anyways rapper jungkook is a FAVE.

21. FAKE LOVE

My first comeback omg. I remember the problem called "they all dyed their hair the same fucking color". Anyways, I prefer the rock version for some reason and I feel the song would have been better if it was that one the OG version. Also the "fakey" love part kind of still bugs me but overall I love this song.

22. I NEED U

I know how much it means to them but I can listen to it every once in a while. Not my favorite but easily one of their best songs. It builds very strongly.

23. RUN

Like DNA (yeah I have many situations like this), I love the song but I enjoy it mostly while watching the MV or a live performance.

24. NOT TODAY

HYPEEE. But again, like DNA, the choreo kind of outdoes the song for me. I like to watch the mv and listen to the song that way than only listening to the song.

25. EPILOGUE: YOUNG FOREVER

Only dropped it so low because I cry whenever I listen to it. Other than that, it could easily be higher. I just stopped listening to it cuz I genuinely can’t stop crying, I never get to finish the song

26. PERMISSION TO DANCE

Not their strongest english song KJFKDSJ if it wasn't sounding so high school musical-ish I would put it higher. I do adore the sign language dance move and how happy they look while performing it. Also, catchy as fuck anyways.

27. DNA

Probably goes low because I might have overplayed it a bit. With this one I priorize the music video and choreo over the song itself. They kind of outdo it.

28. STAY GOLD

Took me a bit to get into it because the chorus bothered me a bit, when all the voices kind of overslap each other while singing different lines (never my favorite type of resource during a song, happens to with Kiss of Fire by Hugh Laurie tho I love that song) but it's still good.

29. BOY IN LUV

I was never a huge fan of this one but I did have my obsession phase when I got into them. I like these songs were Taehyung would rasp his voice a bit tho I'm glad he's using it more like he did with Singularity.

30. BOY WITH LUV

I love Halsey but I felt she ruined the song even though she barely participates anyways. However, I only really enjoy Suga's verse. The song isn't bad but I got tired of it (enough to rank it this low, it still outdid the entire kpop industry idc)

31. N.O.

It was never a song I played too much for some reason. I do enjoy the chorus and oh shit the lyrics, I love their rebellious era.

32. WAR OF HORMONES

I had a phase where I listened to it religiously but after that I sort of stopped LKDLKS. It's still very catchy.

Never really listened to it much, maybe only a couple of times.

listen i love goncharov and andrey of course but why is everyone sleeping on mario and goncharov?? not only they do share canon queer content, but mario has been goncharov's most important person for so long. he provided a safe space for goncharov to express his true feelings that he just could not let slip around katya, he was probably the only person goncharov has ever actually loved after he left andrey behind. the fact he could share his true self and his inner demons only with mario just makes the betrayal twist even more heartbreaking.

Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude but I don’t think life updates should be posted to ao3. Since you have a patreon you can make a public post and share that! Plus that will get people who follow you to take a peak at your patreon. :) I know you don’t mean anything bad by it, but ao3 should really be for fanworks and most people who support your work are probably following you on some form of social media anyway. ^^

Anon, I know this was well-intentioned,so I will address the issues you have brought up as I understand them. I have a lot of subscribers who don't follow VerdantVulpus on socials - I know this, because I see their names in my comments, but not on twitter/tumblr/insta and more to the point, I’ve been explicitly told so by subscribers on ao3 asking me to post the twitter Book! Boys RP as a fic because they’re not on socials. There are a lot of people who honestly can’t stand social media. My only means of communicating with all of my subscribers is to do so via ao3.

 I'm making an assumption that the personal post you are referencing was my Fall update. I hope that’s the case anyway because otherwise I’m completely confused. I admit I did share a bit of personal information in that post but the majority of it was focussed on filling my subscribers in on my intentions for the season and assure them that I will be once again providing content after a very lengthy hiatus.That post was also tagged and summarised so I doubt anyone would have mistook it for a fic and could have easily ignored it.

I’m sure you've had the experience of reading a WIP that goes on hiatus and the author posts an update explaining what's up; that's all I was trying to accomplish, in a way that would be available to my regular readers since. 

I completely understand your view of ao3 as a fandom space. It is a wonderful source of fan art and fanfiction that just keeps on giving. However, the  site is also open to “fully original, non-fanfiction content, hosting over 185,000 such original works as of 25 October 2022,” according to their wikipedia page. I definitely looked this up back when I had frail desperate dreams of writing my own shit. Ah sweet summer days. Anyway, basically Archive of Our Own allows writers to publish any content, so long as it is legal.

Also I'm fairly sure posting a link to my Patreon is a violation of ao3's rules otherwise I'd definitely do that. Like all the time!

It's a  might be a bit easier to justify if it's art (basically, the legal definition of "fair use" is applied more broadly to art than to writing) but regardless, posting a link to a Patreon or kofi on ao3 is a good way to get my work reported and taken down. I did go double check this to be sure and, yeah, I’m not allowed to mention or link to Patreon at all, regardless of how it's phrased, which is why I will be jogging back over to my go over my recent updates because I maaaay have around that and need to fix it immediately.

Anyway, thank you for reaching out with your pov. I don’t tend to make posts of that nature and when I do I usually intend to remove them within a week, but forgot to do so in this case so I appreciate the reminder.
