For some reason this drama got swept under my huge gigantic humongous unwatched list. Im so peeved at myself, I remember wanting to watch it badly then it just got swept under everything. Storyline is basically what you see but so much more, it’s a top tier hilarious kdrama that has a bit of a mystery (it’s sorta obvious) thrown into it. What really makes this special though is the humor and the campiness satire to it. I will put a advisory for those have yet to watch it it can get a bit gruesome sometimes, for example main character, Choi Jin Hyuk, still gorgeous as a zombie by the way, eats raw food especially chicken which can get disgusting. There were times I had to look away and this is someone who loves horror shows, for some reason it just got to me. Nonetheless this series is quirky, cute, and original, it does reminds me a bit of of the western tv series of iZombie which was one of my favorites so maybe that’s why I like it a lot too.

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

I've been rewatching My Father is Strange. And I love it. I really do. There are a variety of female characters and the siblings are very protective of one another. BUT.
Ahn Joong Hee needs to correct his anger management strategies. Somehow I had forgotten how much he throws furniture and breaks household items in anger. He even grabs Mi Young's arm in a fit of anger to cause her pain when he's drunk. He punches people at work. I am here for all the other romance and angst, but there's no way this drama would be made in 2024 and for the abusive outbursts to be displayed by the romantic lead. I'm so thankful we've made progress. I forgot how frequently the dramas would be filled with the casual beating of children too. How could I forget all this?
These are the hallmarks of a habitual abuser and alcoholic. Maybe he's nice to Mi Young now. Or maybe still 5 years from now. But when he's angry. Or annoyed. Or embarrassed. Or drunk. Or facing pressure at work. He'll grab her arm again. Or throw a chair in her direction. Or grab the dinner she just made and throw it on the floor. Or break the mirror next to where she's standing so the glass cuts up her legs and feet. And then he'll say he's sorry. Maybe right away. Maybe tomorrow. Or a week after the silent treatment. But he'll cry and his voice will shake and he'll convince her to come back. She'll try to walk away and he'll run up and grab her wrist or give her a back hug and talk about how it's made him feel bad that he hurt her. He'll make it about how he felt about the outburst instead of what she's putting up with.
I'm in the home stretch now. Just 10 episodes left of the drama. I will not be rewatching this again. I don't know. How did I forget all this and give this character a pass in 2017? Is it my age? Have I just been married longer? Is it because I have a kid now and look at romantic partners differently? Is it because of changing societal norms?
For any of you that actually read this under the cut. Please be safe. Cut your losses when you see those red flags. Ask your friends if they see those red flags. Sometimes they see it differently from the outside. Don't stay just because you've already invested time or money in a relationship. If it's safe to get out, please do. And I know for some, it's not safe to leave. I know.
I've seen a lot of complaining in MDL and in the replies on some drama gifsets about the trend toward all these men that are just total simps for the women in dramas these days. And what about it? I absolutely loved this drama. The main characters are wonderful. I cried so many times in these 52 episodes. The family felt very real with each of the four siblings have their own personalities and problems. The two middle children are the main sibling characters and they gave me just enough of the other siblings that I didn't really get tired of them. The building landlady was the most difficult storyline for me to get through. I did fast forward through a few scenes with her as she was like nails on a chalkboard at certain points. Overall though, this is one that will stick with me as I absolutely adore the familial relationships and the exploration of family.
