Linemount/T91Tactical Replica (Left) vs Original Colt (Right) CAR15 Handguards
Finding a good substitute for replica 6-Hole CAR15 "Skinny" Handguards has been one of the bigger stymies when it comes to cloning retro carbines, as a majority of the solutions on the market fall horribly short of looking the part.
Here, I'm going to give my two cents on the "better" of all the options out there, which are the replicas offered by Linemount, or in my case, T91Tactical.
Visually, these replicas are near-perfect. The finish is a cut above the rest and only distinguishable from originals by the feel and color of the plastic and the lack of errors in the mold.
Now for the bad part - easily where the Linemount/T91Tactical repros fall short is the quality of the plastic used - I believe they used some form of ABS or something similar, as they're extremely lightweight and flimsy-feeling compared to rock-solid Colts.
There is even a visual difference in the quality as well, as the replicas flex slightly when squeezed and creak like an airsoft toy when installed on a rifle while original Colts do neither of these things.
In conclusion, I do not believe these are worth the $60 price tag T91Tactical charges unless you're absolutely dying for a decent visual stand-in to originals. Linemount offered a better deal at just around $30, but it doesn't seem like they'll be restocking anytime soon.
I can't speak for the quality of the recent H&R/PSA 'GI Quality' replicas, which seems to have an identical finish to the Linemount handguards, but cost an extra $10 markup. Though initial testimony seems to say they're solid and rumor has it that they're made by a contractor that used to make originals, so it might be worth looking into if durability is something you covet.
tl;dr: Linemount replicas look amazing, but feel terrible.

Saso Shin + Kageki Miu Review
Today I got a review for two Japanese native UTAUs. They were made by Urouta, a 6 year-long UTAU creator who uses almost exclusively CV to this day and uses it better than almost anyone else I've ever seen. I was requested to do these two together, which would normally get separate posts, but I've been away for so long I thought it’d be best to tackle both now.
I almost never give context for character bios but these two might need it. Shin and Miu are both themed after a Japanese sport called サバイバルゲーム/Survival games (named Airsoft in English), which is essentially paintball, except with airguns that fire soft plastic “bullets”. They’re both obsessed with the sport which is where I guess their connection comes from? At first I thought they were siblings, but they don’t have the same last name and aren’t said to be partners so I can only assume they met on the battlefield. Miu's sample’s are also literally just Shin’s pitched up, or maybe it’s the other way around? So they have essentially the same quality.

First Impressions
Shin and Miu have a clear voice recorded on a low quality mic. The samples were edited in post which lends a very artificial sound to both of them.
Configuration
Shin and Miu both use a 178 sample long CV reclist. Their voicebanks are monopitch. They have every hiragana addition you could ask for, including consonants that aren’t commonly used like gw. There are end breaths included but no other notable extras. Each uses the same samples at different pitches; Miu is about A3 and Shin is about F3, some of the samples are off pitch.
Both use the same oto.ini. Each oto entry was manually formatted and often have small or even negative numbers for the overlap.
Their “gi” sample is messed up pitchwise and would need a re recording that will likely not happen. The “nu” sample is also weirdly mispronounced? It sounds more like “nuh” than the way it’s supposed to be, which is weird since the nui and nuo samples sound just fine.

Final Thoughts
Shin and Miu are a decent CV with great phoneme coverage and a nostalgic sound.

First post of my Airsoft comeback. Here is my KWA Kris's Vector with a PTS carry handle sight. I prefer pistol sights for CQB. I'm waiting for a flashlight to arrive that I'm placing under the carry handle.
Bought a couple of the new Smg45 mags that KWA released, which are identical to Kriss mags. thank god for those.
Fun fact: I was one of the first people to get this gun from Airsoft GI when it was released, my dad was lucky to get one. (Yeah I was younger)

M1 Air Rifles - How Are They Made?

US GI Rifles was designed by the Armorers, Inc. Company, a corporation out of West Point, Pennsylvania. They were originally designed to be used in combat instead of being a sports accessory, but after the war the Rifles found their way into American domestic use. Many of these were put to use by Army units as a training aid. These rifles also saw service in the Korean War. It was during this time that the air rifle became one of the most popular and commonly owned firearms in the United States.
The air rifles used in the Korean War were produced by Fairchild, a manufacturer that also created the M1 Garand, which was famous for its use in the war. Although many think of the M1 as being a carbine, it was in fact, an air rifle that was chambered in the round rather than the more popular round caliber bullet. This small size made it ideal for use by the Air Force troops.
As history reveals, the air rifles used in Korea also saw some use in the Vietnam War. The US Army, Air Force and Navy used them with varying degrees of success. One interesting note is that although the US military still uses standard M1 Garands, they do have a slightly different design than the ones used in the Korean War, which is evident by the term "bull bar" which is a term given to the standard M1 air rifles.
These bull bars actually had two sections: the front sight, or the rifled section, and the rear sight, or the iron or steel tip. This was to facilitate cleaning, and to assist the user to get a good shot at their target. Makers of air rifles would later develop a type of cleaning tool, which was similar to the bull bar. Known as an air pump, this tool was later adopted by the Korean Air Force and used in their assault rifles.
Although the M1 was only used for airsoft by U.S. Army and Air Force personnel, it was later used by the Korean War Veterans Association. https://bestreviews.tips/hatsan-air-rifles_426876/ One of the featured members of this association was General Douglas MacArthur, who was also a former US Air Force Chief of Staff. Hatsan air rifles are still used today by military and law enforcement personnel as a way to protect them from being shot by enemy forces, whether they are on duty or not. A popular choice among these forces is the Remington AR-15, a family of firearms that include pump guns, pistol-style firearms, as well as the more popular ones, air rifles. Many of these air rifles are of foreign origin, such as the German G3 and the Czech AKS. The original German model is still favored amongst German army snipers, due to its durability and reliability.
Today, the M1 type of air rifles are still used to this day by special operations forces and other units who use air defense systems. For special units, this can be a big investment, especially if they need to use these rifles for extended periods of time. As such, they may not always need to buy a new one right away. To avoid having to go through a lot of expenses, it is important for these forces to learn how to properly maintain their rifles to ensure that they can stay operational for a long time.

It’s Buck!!! Bucket O' Nails actually. It's on his birth certificate but don't let him know that you know that. He is the only character I have that I didn’t make myself at first, I adopted him from some character adoption blog when he was still a fantroll and then completely ruined him and turned him into this loser. I’ll try to keep this post short due to lack of a readmore. 🦌 For a long while I had him be a part of sevs family too but I decided I favor them way too much and should just have him be his own dude. 🐻 He is the dumb teen boy character who is sort of like a 90s cartoon bully in a lot of ways but unironically loves and craves emotional and (nonsexual) physical intimacy. He just wants to be sweet and cares way too much but has absolutely no clue how to deal with any of those emotions so he freaks out a lot. Probably one of my most gentle and compassionate characters if you give him a chance and as he grows he tries really hard to embrace this 🦅 Arguably the most Oregon character I have. He lives in a little trailer park with his older brother and enjoys stuff like dirt bikes and airsoft rifles and the red green show and America's funniest home videos and monster jam and wwe wrestling whatever the fuck. 🚛 Is probably way into magic the gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh and absolutely takes it way too seriously 🌧️ He has a weird thing where his mood slightly effects the weather within five miles of him. It usually isn't something that causes many problems but there have been times where it's gotten sort of scary and it definitely is noticeable. 🚹 I am going to project everything that I hated about questioning my sexuality at his age into him. One thing he is certain about though is he thinks bears are really cool
