Summary - When Y/n's school is doing a father daughter dance she chooses not to tell Charles and skip it but of course that doesn't work out to plan

Warning - Loss of a father, feeling guilty, mourning a father

A/n - Charles and Y/n aren’t blood related but consider each other brother and sister. I know Alex was with Charles in the first part but I'm trying to stick to irl relationships and events so Charlotte is here today!

When Charles was told that his godfather had passed away, his mind immediately went to Y/n. How would she cope with this? How would she feel about seeing her friends with their fathers?

But there was one thing the driver forgot about; the father daughter dance. It was a one time event, every daughter would get when they're in year ten. Yet Charles forgot.

It wasn't like Y/n didn't remind him, no she kept it a secret. Not wanting to go because her dad was gone. So when she got the letter from school, what did she do with it?

Well she just threw into the bin outside of the school gates.

Unfornuately when Y/n had her friend round to do homework together, her friend accidentally let it slip right in front of Charles.

"Wait are you coming the dance?" The question was totally innocent, y/f/n thought that maybe Charles would take the place of Jules and take Y/n.

They were in the open plan living space, y/n and her friend in the living room and Charles in the kitchen with Charlotte. So of course he heard them. "Wait what dance?" Charles' voice echoed through the large room.

Y/n's face went pale. She had been caught and would have to explain herself to Charles. "O-oh uh nothing!" Trying to dismiss the question, even though she knew it wouldn't be dismissed that easily.

The older two moved from the kitchen to sit on the plush couch next to the two teens. "Well it's not nothing is it though?" Charlotte replied, also urging Y/n to answer the question.

But instead of Y/n, y/f/n once again spilled the beans. "It's the father daughter dance, I thought Y/n would told you..." She trailed off, finally coming to her senses and realising. "Oh, I should go...bye Y/n, thank you for the snacks Mr Leclerc"

She was quick to collect her stuff and leaving, y/f/n had just thrown Y/n under bus and left faster than the McLaren pitstop. "So...there's a father daughter dance..." Charles and Charlotte had eyes of sympathy, upset that they made her feel like she couldn't go. "Why didn't you tell us?"

There was hesitation, how was she meant to answer a question like this. "Didn't think I could go..." Y/n took a deep breath, finding the carpet more entertaining. "Because papa is not really...you know..." This was the type of conversation Y/n wasn't fond of.

It wasn't a conversation Charles loved all that best either. He absolutely hated how his Marguerite felt she couldn't talk to him about this stuff. "When...When is it?" He had idea and good one.

"Tomorrow..."

Charles was quick to nod his head.

"Alex, can you distract Y/n tomorrow please" Everyone had gone to bed, Charlotte and Charles in bed togther and Y/n asleep in her own bed. He needed Y/n to be distracted so he could set up the surprise.

Charlotte smiled softly, cuddling closer to Charles. "Yeah of course, is this about the dance?" She knew the answer, she knew how guilty Charles felt about the dance.

Playing with the womens long brunette hair, Charles just nodded. He didn't have the heart to speak, fearing he'd break down.

So the next day whilst eating breakfast, Charlotte suggested to Y/n that they do a pamper day. Get their nails done, hair done and just go on a massive shopping spree. During said shopping spree, Charlotte had managed to convince her to get a nice formal dress, the dress she would wear to the dance.

"Hey, you should get this!" Take the dress off the rack, it was totally Y/n's style. "You never know what kind of event Charlie will want to take you to in the future, have it as back up" That was all that Y/n needed to be convinced to get the dress

Charlotte had successfully done what Charles asked of her. Unknow to Y/n, Charles had called up the school and asked if he could attend the dance in place of his late godfather.

They were very understanding and guilty they hadn't thought it through any earlier, but immediately agreed and ensured Charles that they wouldn't single him and Y/n out.

Arriving back at the apartment, it was surprisingly quiet. Charlotte and Y/n walked into the kitchen living space and there was an envelope laid next to a bouquet of African Daisies. On the envelope in fancy handwriting, wrote her name and in brackets, Marguerite.

Y/n (Marguerite)

With eyebrows frowned, Y/n turned to Charlotte. "Wait what's this?" Charlotte, who was pouring herself a glass of water just smirked, motioning for Y/n to opening it.

Riping the envelope open, she pulled out the letter and started to read it out loud.

Dear Marguerite, Get ready to put on your dancing shoes and join me for a night of laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments at our father daughter dance! It's going to be a night to remember, and I wouldn't want to share it with anyone else but you. Date: Tonight Time: 8pm Location: School You are cordially invited to be my dance partner for an evening filled with music, twirls, and sibling love. It's a chance for us to create memories that will last a lifetime and celebrate the awesome bond we share as older brother and younger sister. I understand that papa is no longer with us but I don't to subject you to miss these core memories, I have called ahead and we are more than allowed to attend together. Let me step up and honour Jules with you tonight. So, dust off that fancy dress, and let's make this night magical. Get ready to hit the dance floor and show everyone how we rock the dance moves together. Please let me know as soon as possible because I wouldn't want to dance the night away with anyone but my favorite sister. Can't wait to see you there, all dolled up and ready to dance! As if on cue, Charles came walking out of his office with a big smile on his face. "So what do you say?" He held out his arm, and she ran straight into them. Everyone was tearing up; Y/n, Charlotte and Charles.

He felt her nodding excitedly, her face in the crook of his neck. "Yes! thank you so much Charlie!" Y/n was over the moon, so grateful that Charles got this opportunity for her to actually happen.

"Marguerite, please don't think you can' experience these things..." Pulling out of the hug, Charles held her face in his hands and looked her in the eyes. "Papa would of wanted you to get those experience even though he is not here anymore"

Y/n nodding slowly, that guilt and grief slightly melting away.

Charlotte made her way over to the two, placing her hands on the younger girls shoulders and leaning down. "Come on Marguerite, we have to get you ready and you..." The two girls turned to the driver stood beaming in front of them. "You need to sort yourself out, like the hair?" The sound of laughing echos through the apartment as Charlotte and Y/n make their way to go get ready.

It's around seven thirty when Charlotte finally curls the last piece of hair and Y/n slides into her heels. They both look in the mirror, and Charlotte smiles softly. "You look like a princess..."

It's not often Y/n dresses up, she really doesn't attend many formal events with Charles. Esperically after Jules' death, Charles hated how the press exploited the girl so he limited their chances.

"Are you nearly ready?" The monégasque shouted from what it sounded like to be the hallway. Quickly checking her hair and makeup, Y/n nodded to Charlotte who was first to leave the bedroom and meet Charles in the hallway.

Y/n stepped out of her bedroom behind Charlotte and noticed how Charles had put on a classic black suit. Once the driver saw his little sister, his eyes were watering again.

He placed his hand over his heart. "My god I won't last on your wedding day..." Rolling her eyes, Y/n thought he was being dramatic. "You are stunning Marguerite..."

Looking up at the clock on the wall, Y/n didn't want to ruin her makeup. "Stop, I don't want to ruin my makeup" The hallway erupted with laughter before Charles nodded, chuckling slightly.

"Come on then, lets go dance the night away..."

Carlos Sainz Sr. and Reyes Vázquez de Castro -I think there's not much to say here -the two of them were more than joyed to have another baby -she definitely has her Papá wrapped around her finger -so that means that her Mamá has to be the bad cop -they are quite protective of her -i mean, no parent wants to let their youngest daughter fly to Colombia alone and stay there for nearly one year (for Narcos) -they were always very supportive of her career -all in all they are the best parents she could ask for

I love Stardew Valley and I love the community and I love how we all bond over pixelated chickens like we’re seventy-year-old women bonding over grandchildren- - -

But I get so annoyed with the character hate, like!!! All the characters are great!! All the romance-able characters are great!! I keep getting recommended videos about the bad parts of characters and I just want to scream!!

Penny: lovely. Charming. Kids are a big part of dating her because she teaches kids, of course she’s going to react a bit badly if you hate children. She is trying to teach kids so that they don’t have to have the same life she and her mother do, why do you hate this woman who is just anxious?

Shane: lovely. Charming. Perfect. “He still drinks after we get married, which ruins the whole story” NO. No. Shane is an alcoholic, and a severe one. If he quit cold-turkey, he would fucking die. “Harvey pumped his stomach” HE WOULD DIE. And I don’t care that my husband is messy, he has his own room and I don’t have to go over there!!

Maru: lovely. Charming. She hates working. She loves working on machines. She thinks about machines to build for you to make life easier. She’s adorable. She has a complicated relationship with her brother and I want to help them fix it goddangit because I love fictional siblings.

Elliott: lovely. Charming. An artist. He only leaves his home for like four hours a day. I can really relate to the desire to shave off all of one’s own hair. I feel that in my bones. Also, is friends with Willy and I fucking love Willy so A++

Abigail: I don’t see a lot of people complain about Abigal, but I’ve seen a few and it just feels like- you guys love Sebastian so much but don’t like Abigail? What type of double standard is this?

Alex: everyone always says not to date him if your playing a female farmer, but honestly, his dialogue only cuts out parts if you play male. Like, he still says he felt different about you from day one even if you’re playing as a girl. The character affected the most by your gender choice in regards to dating Alex is George, and if you’ve already befriended George, he’ll apologize for being mean about your sexuality when he never even said anything mean about your sexuality, which is kind of funny

I never see people complain about Haley or Sebastian, which is fair, because Haley has a cute character arc and Sebastian loves frogs (this is what the perfect man lo-) My only problem is that people praise these two but rag on everyone else when I feel like all the characters are balanced pretty evenly in terms of good-bad traits.

Which trait is which is dependent on the person playing the game anyway, so when someone like me plays, I can’t help but find the characters perfect because I’m very forgiving when it comes to fictional characters’ undesirable traits. I mean, my favourite trait of all is stupidity, pure and unbridled, I’m talking facepalm-inducing, groan-worthy, the type of character people complain about the most; the type of stupid that makes people stop enjoying things. How can I dislike these characters who are cute and a bit awkward and so ready to bed the first hot farmer they come across even when that farmer sifts through their trash and passes out three steps away from their own house and drinks mayonnaise and would eat hay given half the chance. Like come on. They’re all moron-sexual. I can relate to that.

In conclusion: your favourite bachelor and/or bachelorette is as wonderful as you think they are and screw the people who try to tell you otherwise. The characters are great because they appeal to different people. Enjoy the game and enjoy the dating and I swear to God if I see another person say that certain farm layouts are bad because they don’t make enough money- the game doesn’t have a time limit! You can make as much money as you want! You could sell one sap everyday and nothing else and you would still be able to make it to however much money you desire to have. There’s not really a fast way to make ten billion gold, that doesn’t mean that the farm layouts you don’t like are bad and yes I’m ranting just because I love the slopes of the mining farm its layout is chamrjng and picturesque and provides a unique challenge to decorating and placing buildings and it’s actually the BEST farm layout because I just decided so and-!

Stardew Valley is a great game, 10/10 would recommend, and the new update is already great because I found carrot seeds and I like carrots :)

I've just realized something about General Olivier Mira Armstrong.

Finally, I've come to understand the reason why she hates Mustang so much - and why she still respects his men.

Olivier Armstrong is a military woman down to her very core. In that she is an interesting character because she is in many ways complicit with the military dictatorship ruling Amestris while also condemning it. She's a political moderate, a mediocre politician, a fierce warrior, and a great leader.

We don't know much about General Armstrong outside of her military career - and her relationship to her brother. We know she's the only female general in the upper brass, we know she's been nicknamed "The Northern Wall Of Briggs" and "the Ice Queen", we know she cares greatly for her soldiers... and she despises cowards.

Now how does she define a coward?

That's were things are starting to get interesting. Because General Armstrong called her brother a coward multiple times because he failed to do what was right in Ishval - but, important to note, it wasn't the heinous acts themselves that she condemned (though it is implied that she does indeed condemn them) but the fact that her brother didn't follow his own principles. He didn't abandoned the Amestrian army to fight for the people he had sworn to protect even though he wanted to. He just went home. And that's what makes him a coward in her eyes.

This aligns with everything else we see about her. She calls Mustang a "sniveling coward" multiple times and notes his lack of a backbone. And yet her dislike of him doesn't seem to run as deep as her disappointment in her brother. Some of that might just be that Alex is family and that means personal relationships do indeed play a role... but some of it is probably the very simple truth that Mustang is trying his best to make up for what he did.

He also failed in her eyes, following orders he knew were wrong, but where her brother fled, Mustang had the strength to stay and look his victims in the eyes as he killed them.

Mustang's team on the other hand did something that General Armstrong very much appreciates: they chose Mustang and his goals the same way the men of Briggs chose her.

Mustang might be a coward and a fool in her eyes, but she can respect the choices his team made.

There is one scene near the end of the show that showcases that beautifully. In episode 58 (or 57) Izumi and General Armstrong get the general to confess the brass' plan to sacrifice the Amestrian people in front of a bunch of soldiers and - after hearing their own death sentence uttered by a commanding officer - the soldiers are unsure how to proceed.

And Armstrong gets angry at them.

Because they are simply following orders. They were killing her people and condemning her country - simply because of some orders that they never learned to question.

And in General Armstrong's eyes that's the actually unforgiving act. Killing and slaughtering for the army is not something she has any problem with (as evident by the Briggs soldiers bloody takeover during the Promised Day) but it needs to be an act of conviction. Looking away and hiding behind orders is what Armstrong sees as cowardly.

It's what Mustang did in Ishval and what his men failed to do when they followed him willingly. It's what Alex couldn't see through, but Olivier made sure her soldiers knew before joining her.

She wants to change Amestris and it's military, not because she's an idealist like Mustang, but because she wants a military in which each soldier is responsible for the people they kill.

It's fascinating because General Armstrong doesn't have the moral high ground - she doesn't see the military as rotten the same way Mustang does, and she doesn't see killing as wrong the way Edward does. She doesn't even contemplate her own kills with shame the way Hawkeye is prone to, or judge the system as harshly as Izumi does.

But she does have a strong moral core as a character, one that would perhaps even agree with Kimblee's famous quote: "Look straight at the people you kill; don’t take your eyes off them. Do not ever forget them because they won’t forget you." - and if you don't agree with an order given? It is your duty as a soldier to defy it.

That's why she can trust her men to plan a coup without her being there to lead them - because she knows every choice they make will be one they can live with. Just as every order they follow is one they can justify.

She is an interesting character because she questions the system while endorsing it - and that puts her at odds with both the military complex and Mustang and his team. It achieves complexity in what could very easily have been a simply narrative.

Olivier Mira Armstrong hates cowards - but she respects those who stand up for their believes, even if those believes defy her.

a/n: idk i just thought this would be an interesting thing to write.

synopsis: what are some deal breakers for them? what can they not tolerate?

SLENDERMAN doesn't have a lot of deal breakers, to be quite honest. it doesn't have any preferences when it comes to romance. i suppose if it had to pick something, it would say that it would rather avoid dating people with a disdain towards nature. it literally lives in nature, so... it would also probably avoid people who have children in their life, be it a parent or a teacher.

JEFF THE KILLER has a two off the top of his head. firstly, he will never date a Fangirl capital 'F'. if he even gets the slightest inkling that someone might be a fan of his, it's an immediate no and that person very well may lose their life. and secondly, he refuses to date anyone who hates his brother. yeah, he and liu don't get along and liu wants him dead but in his mind, liu is still the most important person in jeff's life. people who commit arson are on thin fucking ice.

EYELESS JACK is fairly lax when it comes to 'deal breakers'. he doesn't have anything he dislikes, and there isn't any type of behavior that he necessarily avoids either. people who aren't fond of cannibalism would be difficult to date, he supposes. he doesn't really like people who may try keeping his as a pet either. and... maybe people who are in cults...

LAUGHING JACK is one sick and twisted bastard so deal breakers are very unlikely. realistically, his partner being around kids should probably be a deal breaker but that's... literally the only way to meet him. he's incredibly complex so he really won't know his own deal breakers until he's like... in the situation, y'know?

JANE THE KILLER has one immediate deal breaker. if you like jeff the killer, she immediately feels immense disdain toward you and she will never even acknowledge your existence, not unless she's forced to. jane richardson is also lesbian, so men are an immediate no.

NINA THE KILLER has one immediate deal breaker as well. if you dislike jeff the killer, she will not get along with you. she and jeff have a love-hate relationship but at the end of the day, he's still her idol and she looks up to him a lot, so.

THE BLOODY PAINTER barely interacts with people to really know if he has any deal breakers. perhaps people who dislike art? though, he can't really fault someone for not seeing the beauty held within the multitudes of art all around the world.

CANDY POP isn't the biggest fan of people he deems to be annoying or boring. now, i know what you're thinking, candy pop literally finds joy in annoying people, so wouldn't he be delighted to have a partner who behaves the same way? absolutely not. he likes to be the one terrorizing people; he does not want to be terrorized.

THE DOLL MAKER is immediately hesitant around older men, so if you are a guy and you're older than him then just know he'll avoid you like the plague. also, due to his pyrophobia, arsonists and people fascinated by fire get an immediate no from him. anyone who may poke fun at the dolls he creates aren't welcome either, and he'll probably end up turning them into a doll.

JASON THE TOYMAKER has one goal only and it is to find 'the one for him' so like... not many deal breakers here. just fall in love with him and never ever reject him and everything will be good! you'll be turned into a wax doll, otherwise, and that's a terrible fate to suffer.

DR SMILEY also rarely interacts with people, though he's not the biggest fan of people who so desperately cling to life and believe that death is something to be afraid of.

NURSE ANN just doesn't like people in general and only has like... three people she enjoys being around so the likelihood of her growing to like someone is small. that being said, something that immediately makes her dislike a person is when they mock her for not speaking often.

THE PUPPETEER has major disdain for people he cannot control. unless he's already grown attached to (ex. emra) or reliant on them (ex. zachary), then disobedience is not something he can tolerate. he's also not the biggest fan of super-duper cheerful people, though that's only because it makes killing them harder.

CLOCKWORK by default cannot stand anyone who reminds her of her past. she wants nothing more than to forget the pain and hell she went through, so to find a person who reminds her of all that trauma? yeah, no, they gotta go.

ZALGO literally hates everything and everyone but on the very slight chance that someone manages to worm their way into the essence of his being, then so long as they don't mind humanity's downfall then they're fine. bonus points if they're good with kids because holy shit he doesn't know how to be a dad. and if they dislike kids then like... that's fine, i guess, but he'll be a bit bitter.

HOBO HEART is fairly hesitant when it comes to love. the one time he fell in love, she threw his heart away. he's hesitant to fall in love again, but he could never fall for anyone who would so willingly leave him behind. he's not the biggest fan of liars either. simply put, he could never love someone who doesn't value their own heart.

TICCI TOBY already keeps people at a distance, but it's an immediate deal breaker when someone starts making fun of him. if someone makes a bad comment about lyra or his mother, then that's also an immediate no. anyone who heavily drinks alcohol is a no. anyone who 'teases' him about his tourette's is a no. anyone who doesn't take his CIPA seriously is a no.

ZERO could never be in a relationship with someone with the mindset of 'i can fix her' because she doesn't need to be fixed. honestly, you should consider yourself lucky that she's somehow managed to grow an attachment to you considering her disregard for everyone around her. do something to make her hate you and you'll regret it.

KAGEKAO is gay, first and foremost, so if you're a woman then it just won't work out. he's fluent in english as well so you don't necessarily have to know japanese, though he'd love for you to learn. people who make comments about his wine habits or tell him to cut back on drinking wine will be disposed of immediately. he also isn't fond of boring people.

NATHAN THE NOBODY tends to believe that most people are in the organization that took away his sister, so by default, it's an immediate no if he comes to believe that someone is in the organization. he can't come to terms with his sister's death, so he'll get rid of anyone who tries to make him see that she's dead.

HOMICIDAL LIU hardly ever gives romance any thought because he's so caught up in his goal of trying to kill jeff that it rarely ever crosses his mind, so deal breakers aren't something he's given much thought. people who aren't fond of arson probably won't like liu, so they're a no. anyone who thinks he should forgive jeff is an immediate no. anyone who is a fangirl of jeff or idolizes him the way nina does is also an immediate no. people who aren't fond of smoking most certainly won't like him so they're also a no. anyone who sees no harm in mocking and bullying other people is a no.

SULLY has deal breakers relatively similar to liu. if you're a jeff groupie then he honestly wants nothing to do with you. if you are a threat to liu in any way shape or form, then he's already planning a way to dispose of you. other than that, he's pretty laid back with this sort of stuff.

TIM WRIGHT has a habit of smoking so people who can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke should probably avoid him. he isn't close to a lot of people so when someone betrays his trust, it really hits him hard so people with a habit of lying are an immediate no.

BRIAN THOMAS is a bros before hoes sorta guy in the sense that if his partner doesn't like his friends then suddenly he doesn't have a partner anymore. he can't date someone who dislikes the people he's closest to, it just doesn't work that way. especially if they dislike tim, like... that's his best friend there, dude.

JAY MERRICK is a gay man so if you are a woman, then... yeah. it won't work. you stand no chance with jay if you don't believe him when he tells you that something is seriously wrong. he doesn't like people who avoid telling him about an issue because it stresses him out a lot so he would rather prefer people who can openly tell him if something is wrong.

JESSICA LOCKE is lesbian, so men simply just do not have a chance with her. she doesn't really have many deal breakers though, to be honest. at least none that come to the top of her head. she'd probably have to experience something to decide whether or not that's a deal breaker for her, y'know?

ALEX KRALIE is like... deeply unhinged in every way possible and will try killing his partner no matter what, so. let's just use the alex before all the operator stuff happened! he can't be with anyone who doesn't support him or his passion project, marble hornets. and in the midst of marble hornets, he will try to kill his partner. there's no avoiding that. he, himself, is a deal breaker, gotta be honest here.

in which, lola hughes could never date her big brothers best friend. he was untouchable in every sense of the word.

going to the lake house had always been lola’s favourite time of the year. she didn’t think she could love it anymore, that was, until trevor zegras started showing up every year about four years ago.

from the second the girl saw the boy, him being 18 and her 15 at the time, she was completely infatuated.

but over the years, her infatuation began to become tormenting. her brothers had their suspicions. they all knew her like the back of their hands, so, it was completely out of the ordinary when the outgoing girl suddenly became shy and introverted every time the zegras boy was around. they found it amusing, especially since not only would trevor never feel the same (meaning he wasn’t allowed to feel the same) but he was also completely oblivious to the fact.

so, after years of torment, lola knew that this year was going to be no different. in fact, it was probably going to be worse.

her parents had decided to take a summer trip to europe, which meant that the amount of her brothers friends that would be staying at the lake house would be amplified. which meant, she was only going to become more invisible than she already was.

she was the first to arrive that summer, being able to finally drive by herself after the impossible mission which was getting her license. she had gotten frozen yoghurt from the shop just a few mere minutes away from the house and was currently sat at the kitchen table eating it whilst scrolling tiktok aimlessly, awaiting the arrival of her brothers who she hadn’t seen since christmas.

the door opened, announcing the arrival of the first hughes brother, which happened to be luke. and by the sounds of loud laughter, he wasn’t alone.

“lolly!” luke exclaimed when he saw his younger sister sitting by her lonesome. looking up from her phone, she smiled at her brother and the four other boys who were with him. she recognised one as dylan duke, luke’s best friend for like forever, but she wasn’t sure who the others were.

“is that frozen yoghurt?” one of the boys asked. the girl nodded at her head, looking down at the frozen yoghurt that she was finished with before sliding it over to him. the boy thanked her loudly before grabbing the cup and taking the seat next to her. “mark.” the boy introduced himself, mouth full of mango flavoured sorbet. “lola.” the brunette girl smiled back.

“fine, i’ll take your shit upstairs, no worries man.” ethan rolled his eyes at his friend before walking passed the two and up to where all the bedroom were. luke followed, ruffling up his sisters hair as he did so.

“god, ethan has been grumpy the entire trip.” mark complained, offering lola some of her own frozen yoghurt, to which she denied. “he turned off the radio once i started singing along, i took it personally.” dylan told the girl as he sat down on the other side of her.

“and for that, we are eternally grateful.” the last boy smiled sarcastically before also taking his belongings upstairs. “was he also grumpy the entire trip?” lola asked as she watched the boy leave. “no, mackie is in a permanent state of grump.”

lola laughed before the three fell into a comfortable small talk. they asked her questions about college, scrunching up their face when she told them she would be going to boston, they then proceeded to call her a traitor and would seek her out at every hockey game to remind her. they were even more offended when she told them that she had also gotten into michigan, but had still chosen to go to boston.

the front door had opened once more, interrupting the trios new conversation about what they wanted to do that summer.

jack entered, followed by alex and cole. lola jumped from her seat at the sight of the caulfield boy. “coley!” she exclaimed before tackling him in a suffocating hug. jack scoffed from behind the two, hating how his little sister liked his best friend more than him. “rude.”

“sorry jack, you’re so right.” lola smiled at her older brother before turning to alex, also jumping him in a hug. jack only rolled his eyes before travelling over to the fridge and opening it. “there’s no food.”

“go get some then.” lola shot back, crossing her arms when jack looked over at her with an expectant look. “but i don’t know what to get.”

“get food.” lola retorted like it was obvious. “can you go and get it?” he asked. “no, why is that my job?” lola shot back.

and alas, summer had finally began when lola and jack began to argue. the sun beamed hot and the boat swayed calmly in the water at the sound of the two bickering.

jack had stopped arguing, opting to just holding his card out to the girl. cole and alex, who saw this every year, smiled at the refreshing sight. lola eyed the card before snatching it out of his hand. “fine, but i’m buying myself something pretty.”

“we’ll come with you.” dylan spoke from the kitchen counter, mark nodding his head as they both got up from their spot. “thank you, new found friends.”

what was supposed to be a short trip to the grocery store, ended up a thirty minute food run and a two hour target adventure. lola had quickly realised that both mark and dylan were the perfect enablers to all her bad decisions. they had run around target like children without adult supervision until a worker had told them to leave.

coming back to the lake house, there were a few more cars outside and a lot more noise inside. all the boys were huddled in the living room when the three arrived back home, yelling at a tv screen which had a very intense game of mario kart playing on it.

“quinny!” lola exclaimed before jumping on the boy. quinn laughed before moving his sister beside him and wrapping an arm around her. lola loved all her brothers equally, but quinn was very obviously her favourite. “hi lolly.”

“really? i didn’t even get a hug!” jack exclaimed from the other side of the room. “i didn’t even get a hello!” luke countered. lola shrugged nonchalantly before refocusing her attention back to the screen.

“i got next.” trevor told everyone as he walked into the room. lola tensed at the sight of the boy, quinn laughing at her reaction silently. trevor glanced at the girl, his signature smile overtaking his face as he saw her. “what’s up, littlest hughes?”

she hated how he called her that. it reminded her of how he was never going to see her as anything but his best friends little sister. he couldn’t even call her by her name? really?!

“hi, z.” the girls voice was quiet, but just loud enough for everyone paying attention to hear it. those people being her brothers and mark, the estapa boy frowning at her reaction.

“babe!” a high pitched voice rang across the room as a bleached blonde, model type woman walked into the room. at the sight of one of the boys girlfriends, excitement filled lola up at the fact that she might not be the only girl here this summer. she could actually do things she wanted to do now, like get her nails done or tan.

but when trevors head perked up, and he got up from his spot on the floor to make his way over to the unknown girl, all excitement left her body. she watched intently as the two shared words before trevor nodded his head and guided his girlfriend up the stairs by the small of her back.

“whose that?” lola whispered to her older brother, who quickly took his eyes off the game to glance over to the retreating couple. “her names hayley, she’s trevor’s new girlfriend. she’s real nice, i’m sure you’d like her.” but as lola nodded her head stiffly, crossing her arms and sinking into the couch, quinn realised how wrong he was.

later that night, all the boys had retreated outside to play a game of.. well, lola wasn’t sure what it was but they basically just kicked a ball around. she had been playing with them all before jack kicked the ball too hard at her head, causing her to fall on the concrete and bust up her knees. after that, she had opted to sitting on the sidelines and watching.

she had been so caught up at quinn and luke avenging her by pegging the ball so hard at jack that he yelped every time they got their hands on it, that she didn’t even notice the boy approaching her.

“hey, littlest hughes.” she smiled up at the zegras boy, “i brought you a little something.” the boy took a seat beside her before handing her a bag of frozen peas. “stupid jack, always doing something to annoy me.” she said before taking the bag of peas. “thank you.”

she couldn’t help but gaze like a lovesick puppy at the boy, who paid no mind to the way she looked at him as he laughed at her remark.

“you know i’ll always be here to give you frozen peas when jack injures you. happens at least once every summer.”

this was true. jack had a habit of hurting his younger sister every summer, purposefully or accidentally. it didn’t matter, it just always happened somehow. one summer, he had to save her from drowning as she sprained her ankle when jack pushed her into the water. she still remembers how angry quinn was, it makes her laugh to this day. but everytime, trevor always showed up with a bag of frozen peas, whether she was crying in her bedroom or laying hopelessly on the floor of the kitchen.

“at least we got it out of the way this summer.” lola shrugged. “eh, it’ll probably happen again. you’re accident prone.” trevor laughed. lola scoffed loudly before hitting him in the arm repeatedly with the bag of peas. this only enhanced his laughter as the two began to hit each other with the same bag of peas.

“babe,” hayley approached the two, raising an eyebrow at the twos pea fight. lola felt as if she had been caught in the act, but trevor was nonchalant as he looked up at his girlfriend. “the boys want you back.”

trevor nodded as he climbed to his feet, “let me know when those ones melt, i’ll give you a fresh batch.” he winked playfully at the hughes girl before running back to his friends. both hayley and lola watched him leave with similar smiles before the blonde girl took a seat beside lola.

“hi lola.” she greeted. “hi hayley.” lola greeted back, an awkward smile displayed on her face. the two fell into an uncomfortable silence. hayley was the first to break it. “so, how long have you had a crush on trevor?”

out of all the questions she could have asked, this was the one that lola was least expecting. she almsot spit out her glass of water she was sipping on. "e-excuse me?"

hayley laughed at her response, "please, i see the way you look at him. plus, trev told me how you follow him around all summer. i think it's cute, really." lola couldn't tell if she was being genuine or not, which only make her more intimidated by the girl in front of her. "but hey, we've all been there, right?"

now, lola was even more confused. "been where?"

"had a crush on someone would never want us back."

god every word that left the girls mouth made lola's skin crawl. she wanted to punch the girl in the face, but lola also knew she was right.

"i mean, it's not like trevor would ever want you back. he's your brother's best friend and he's with me now."

lola nodded her head along to the girl's words, her mind running a million miles a minute. "i'm glad you understand that. see ya 'round." and with that, hayley was walking over to the group of boys to watch from a closer angle.

she wasn't sure if she should be mad or upset by the girl's words. i mean, everything she had told her she already knew. but she didn't need to be confronted about it. and trevor had told her that she followed him around all summer? that was probably what hurt her the most. she thought her and trevor were hanging out, but he apparently found it more annoying than he let on.

looking over at the group of boys, lola's faced etched in a large frown, she made eye contact with luke. her brother tilted his head in questioning, to which she just shook her head in response. the boy's eyes found hayley, narrowing them at the girl before flipping her off when she wasn't looking. this produced a small laugh from the youngest hughes sister, which allowed luke to return to his game with a content smile.

"hey, i brought you this." lola's eyes snapped over to mark, who was standing over her with a bag of frozen carrots. his eyes fell to the bag of frozen peas in her hand, and his smile dropped. "oh, nevermind."

lola's eyes fleeted over to trevor, who was watching the interaction with a furrowed brow. "these one's are melted anyways, thank you." lola smiled back up at mark, taking the carrots from his hand and placing the peas onto the table.

mark's face lit up as he took a seat next to the younger hughes girl. the two sat in a comfortable silence, watching the game unravelling before them.

"did you want to go get frozen yoghurt?" mark suddenly asked, catching lola off guard as her head snapped over to him. the boy looked nervous, which was so unlike the boy she saw in target today throwing weighted blankets on top of dylan to make him fall over. she smiled shyly at him, nodding her head before standing up and grabbing his hand. both of their faces heated into a red hue, as lola guided him through the house and out the front door to his car.

trevor watched the two leave, a little hurt at the disregard of his frozen peas. it was a hughes summer lake house tradition, and she had broken it for some lousy carrots.

"z! throw the damn ball, bro!" alex exclaimed. trevor rolled his eyes before throwing the ball and turning his attention to jack. "your sister just left hand in hand with that estapa kid."

"who? mark?" luke hadn't meant to eavesdrop in on the conversation, but when he heard both his sister and his best friend being mentioned, he couldn't help himself. trevor nodded his head in response. he knew how protective the three brothers, especially jack, were over their little sister, which is why he brought it up in the first place.

"mark's a cool guy." luke shrugged his shoulders, "and lola can do whatever she wants." this wasn't the reaction trevor was hoping for, but he wasn't sure why he was hoping for the opposite.

"why do you care, anyways?" jack asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. sure, he didn't want his sister getting into a relationship, but he would deal with that later. however, he wasn't going to let trevor, the boy he knew lola had liked for years, ruin her fun.

"i don't, man. just thought i would let you know." trevor shrugged, before walking off to find his own girlfriend.

when the boy was finally out of ear sight, jack pulled his phone out of his pocket. "what are you doing?" luke asked his older brother.

"telling lola that she better not be doing anything she shouldn't be."

y/n was the youngest and only girl in the formula one grid of 2023. She was from Spain, driving for red bull along side Max Verstappen (you know I had to mention him hehehe)

She was close with all the boys that were close to her age. Max because he's her teammate, but also Charles Lando Alex and George. However, Carlos was the closest to her. He was like her older brother, while she was like his little sister.

What no one on the grid knew was that y/n was dating the one and only Pablo Gavi. They had a secret relationship from the public eye. However, when it was the time for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, y/n invited her boyfriend to watch her race from the red bull garage, in which they'll also announce their relationship to the world.

"a good luck kiss?" Pablo appeared from behind y/n, before she put her balaclava on. y/n turned to look at him, a smile on her face. She nodded her head, in which Pablo garbbed her face and pressed his lips on hers gently, then pecking her lips a few times after.

"good luck babe. we want the podium" he encouraged her, causing her to grin widely. She kissed his cheek before putting on her balaclava. Pablo helped her clip her helment, kissing it before she got into the car.

y/n was starting in P4, after her teammate Max who was P1 (of course), Carlos who was P2, and Lando Norris who was in P3.

The lights turned red, before they turned off and turned green

Its lights out and away we go

y/n was able to overtake Lando at the start as her reaction time was better than Lando's.

Max was now about 1 second ahead of Carlos already, and she was on Carlos's tail right now.

"be careful with the tires y/n. we have to stick to the strategy" her engineer told her, as she was pushing to get closer to Carlos

Soon enough, y/n was able to overtake him using DRS. And with the good strategy Red Bull always have, she managed to finish P2 behind Max

"and that's P2. brilliant job, would've loved if you listened to me though" her engineer told her through the radio, while she chuckled and thanked everyone

It was also Carlos on the podium as he finished P3. As soon as y/n got out of the var, she ran to her team sharing big hugs with everyone. Pablo was standing between the mechanics, so she ran up to him and gave him a big hug. After taking off her helment, Pablo gave her a kiss, with all the cameras flashing around them

"I'm so proud of you mi amor. now go up there and get your trophy" he said, kissing her one more time before she went into the cooling room

What she didn't know was that Carlos was watching all her interactions with Pablo. When he saw him before the race he thought he was invited by the team, but now it didn't look so.

He was annoyed it was Pablo. He wasn't jealous but felt protective over y/n

"really? you're dating Gavi?" Carlos asked as soon as he walked into the cool down room

"uhhh yeah?" she said, confused at his tone that was pissed before she took a sip of her water

"why him? he's a barça player y/n." he whined, causing both y/n and Max to burst out of laughter

"well better than a Real Madrid player no?" Max teased, making Carlos glare at him

"you better take that back" he joked, pointing a warning finger at her

Let me start off by saying that Scott has eyes for you and only you. Your confession had took a huge step back when Jean Grey started showing interest in Scott. She was everything you were insecure about and you often compared yourself to her in the worst way possible.

Scott never took a second glance at Jean, he wanted you. Jean knew that and it angered her, she wanted Scott to herself. Jean also knew you'd always be to shy to admit your feeling to Scott, so she used it to her advantage.

Scott wanted to tell you he loved you so bad, but he always felt you deserved better. He wanted you to have a guy that could look at you without red-tinted glasses, he wanted you to have someone who wasn't dangerous.

He will always regret telling you how he felt because of the situation you were in. It was a mission gone wrong which resulted you staying in the med-bay in the mansion. Scott never left your bed side. His heart pounded with anxiety the longer you layed in bed unresponsive.

The next morning you woke up with him holding your hand and his head on your lap. You were relived to see him and it made your heart flutter that he stayed with you. You gently ruffled his hair, waking him up.

He woke up and tears pricked his eyes as relief washed over him. He cupped your face gently and pressed his forehead to yours. He was shaking so much. “your okay... Please don't ever leave me”

He looked into your eyes and took a deep breath. You don't know how bad he wanted to see your natural eye color and not just see the red tint from his glasses. “I love you... Everything about you amazes me, your everything to me”

“I love you more” you smiled softly. You shared your first kiss that night, this kiss was so gentle but held so many years of bottled up tension and emotions. He held you carefully, like as if you were made of glass and his kisses were driven by so much relief and unconditional love.

“her best friend wears long sleeves in mid-june, hope no one will see she’s black and blue”

Y/n sits in her bedroom in her apartment watching YouTube when she gets a text from her friend, Alex, wondering if she wants to hang out soon.

It was the middle of June and she had been out of college for two or so years and has been getting into a stage and routine of being independent. When she met up with Alex at the coffee shop she took note of the shirt he was wearing. She decided not to question it for now, letting Alex bring anything up if he wanted to.

“Are you okay?”

“Wh-what do you mean?”His eyes looked panicked and he looked around again to see who was around them.

She placed a hand over his, “Let’s go for a walk, yeah?” He nods and the two get up and leave. They walk in silence for a little bit, Alex trying to figure out what to say and how to say it while Y/n thinks to herself about the multiple possibilities.

She’s read about things like this before but hasn’t experienced it. She didn’t even want to experience it but that was how she was. If her friend was in need, she would be there. It wasn’t that long until Alex spoke, “I don’t know what to say, y/n/n. I don’t want anyone to get in trouble.”

“Alex, no one is getting in trouble unless they deserve it. I won’t say anything if you don’t want me to.” He nods and attempts to say what he wants to.

When he finally said it, the thing y/n had been thinking this whole time, she kept a stoic face. She didn’t want to jump into the whole ‘I’m so sorry’ because it wasn’t her fault and Alex hated when people pitied him. But she wanted to get him out of that relationship, out of that apartment.

“Please don’t argue with me on this, you’re coming to stay with me. Not for a while but at least for a little bit. I can’t say I know how this is but I promise you we will get through it together. Unless you don’t want to.”

Alex nodded, he knew there was no fighting her. He knew she wasn’t trying to be controlling and she was just trying to be the best friend she could possibly be and he let her.

2. Nick

“her sister skips meals to fit into the dresses she wore back in high school”

Y/n had been hanging out with her brothers when she started to notice it. She wasn’t totally concerned. She was worried yes, it was her brother and he had been leaving his trail of insecure thoughts behind him like a dog who stepped in mud.

She watched as Nick picked at his food from across the table at the restaurant that he picked. She knew there was something wrong, she picked up on these things pretty easily. It wasn’t that hard when you spend the majority of your life worrying about others and not yourself.

As always, she didn’t want to ask in front of the other two (or anyone else for that matter), so she waited. When they left the restaurant Matt and Chris decided to go into a store as the other two stood outside. She waited until the boys were completely out of earshot before she even thought about speaking up on the subject.

She knew it would be a sensitive one, but it seemed like everything was nowadays. She finally gained the courage to speak to her younger brother, “Nick, are you okay?”

“‘Course I am, y/n/n. Why wouldn’t I be?” He was much more convincing than Alex. Alex had it written all over his face that something was wrong.

She knew this behavior, she practically was a master at it and she could tell Nick had picked up a couple of things here are there. She stared intently at the boy, “Mhm, sure. Now you actually want to talk to me about it?”

He shrugged and looked off into the distance, twiddling with his fingers. She started to whistle, trying to annoy him and succeeding.

“Can you stop, please?”

“Stop what? Stop being a nice older sister? Stop worrying about my brother? Stop trying to help?”

“Yes.”

“Nick, you know I hate being an overbearing sister but I can tell something is wrong. Can you please tell me what it is so I can help?”

“I don’t want your help, y/n.”

She sighed, “Fine. I understand but if you do, I’ll be here, ‘kay?”

“Whatever.”

The triplets were staying at Y/n’s apartment for a little while as they visited her in the northern part of California. Matt and Chris were staying in the guest bedroom while Nick wanted to sleep in the living room.

Y/n had tried to get him to at least sleep in her room and let her take the couch but he refused, saying it was her house and she should sleep in her own bed (which she thought was the exact reason why she should sleep on the couch).

“We’re going out to get food, do you guys want anything?” Christ came wandering into the living room with Matt behind him.

“No thanks, guys.”

“Nick?”

He shook his head, somewhat aggressively, and his brothers shrugged and left. Nick and y/n continued to watch whatever was on TV when Nick spoke up, “How do you notice and they don’t?”

“Hmm?”

“Matt and Chris. You always seem to know when something is wrong with me, or anyone of us, but when it comes to us three, we’re sort of oblivious.”

“Nick, I’m sure that’s not the case. How many times have you noticed something was wrong with one of them or somebody else and just haven’t said anything?”

The boy sat and thought for a moment before looking down, “A lot.”

“Yeah. I just decided to act on it, Nicky. They might just not know how to bring it up or what to say. Now, do you want to talk about it?”

“Not really but I should.”

“If you’re not ready, you don’t have to. I promise. I just want you to know that I am here for you if you ever want to. Whether that be tomorrow, next month, or in ten years. Whenever you need me, I’ll be there.”

“Okay.”

“Go ahead.”

“Can I have a hug?”

“Come here, you big oaf.”

Nick jumped on top of y/n and she let out a breath, “Jesus, Nick. Knocking the wind right outta me.”

He shied away, “I’m sorry.”

“Awe. Nick, it’s okay. I’m just joking with you, I’m sorry. Don’t worry about it.”

“Does it ever bother you that you can’t wear the clothes you used to?”

Y/n looked confused, “No? Is that what you’re worried about?”

Nick nods, “Nick it’s normal. Everyone has grown out of clothes before, whether it’s because they’re too big or too small, the clothes not you. And sometimes it’s a good thing, it means you’re growing. You think everyone can still wear what they did when they were super tiny? If we could, I’d still be wearing my ‘My Little Pony’ onesie.”

Nick giggled, “That makes me feel better. Thanks, y/n/n.”

“Anytime, Nicky.”

Only two minutes had passed since they finished their conversation when there was a loud knocking on her door, “Can you guys let us in, please?! The food is getting cold… and so are we!”

3. Caroline

“her teacher’s about to unravel, her treatment is making her fragile”

Y/n was always mature from a small age. It started when she was in second grade when she accidentally overheard her teacher talking with another one about how she was going to be out for a little bit. OF course, she was curious, what second grader wouldn’t be curious when they heard their teacher was going to be out for a little bit?

She tried to ignore the voice in the back of her head that was telling her to go out into the hallway and make her presence known but she couldn’t. She stepped out from behind the door and ran to give her a hug.

“Oh! Y/n what are you doing out here, sweetheart?”

“I’m sorry, Miss. Walker.” Caroline, her teacher, furrowed her eyebrows until realization dawned on her, “Oh, you weren’t supposed to hear that.”

“It’s okay, Miss. Walker! My cousin had to get treatments too, I don’t remember what for, but she turned out okay so you will too!”

She sent the child a soft smile and then ushered her back to class. Ever since that day, y/n made it her mission to make her teacher feel better. She’d spend every minute not working on her homework working on something for her teacher. Whether it was making friendship bracelets with the help of her mom, or a simple card, or even an origami flower.

Each day she’d walk into class with a new little project made for her teacher and place it on her desk or give it to her. Caroline was so grateful for the small girl, having a collection of little gifts from her. No one really understood, hell they were second graders, why she was bringing gifts for Caroline but they soon all wanted to do it.

When Caroline left for the first time, the kids (especially y/n) were super upset. They left their gifts on her desk in the morning and the substitute teacher was in awe of how nice these kids were. Still, none of them knew the real reason Caroline was out except for y/n.

When Caroline got back she saw all of the gifts in two baskets and burst out into tears. All the kids hugged her when they got to school that day and that was the first time y/n experienced maturity. Sure she was still an innocent child but she had this sense of adultness spread through her.

1. Y/n

“she’s got exes on both her hands most Saturdays. Covers up with covergirl so no one knows her age, sacrificing every moral just to fit the shape, of a picture she’s dying to frame. Friends with almost anyone, a chameleon, only problem is she doesn’t like who she’s become, she’ll do anything to get the slightest bit of love, but it’s never enough. She blows the candles out but now it’s just formality, can’t celebrate under the pressure of society, another year at home alone with her anxiety, says goodbye to her company.”

Y/n had a ton of friends, lots of them from childhood who had stuck together by each other's side and a lot from high school and college as well. Though none of them ever realized what was happening to y/n.

They were never able to break down her walls enough to see the true her, they were never able to even get a vulnerable side of her. Sure, they had seen her cry here or there but she never talked about it afterward, never even made a mention of it.

This was the same for birthdays and holidays. Everyone was always so obsessed with what her brothers were doing, how her brothers were doing, and who her brothers were with. She never got asked once ‘How was school y/n?’, ‘How is work going?’, ‘How are you?’

Even at her own birthday party, she was an outcast, both when she was younger and even now. When her friends would come over for her party they somehow always find a way to disclude her. Not that it was on purpose but to an eight-year-old, it was.

As time went on she stopped having parties, much like other kids, but she didn’t even want to celebrate her birthday anymore. Her mother still made her family come over for a party, however. However, there was a pattern of outcasting the birthday girl.

They all arrived, said a brief hello to the girl, and then wandered off to go catch ip with the rest of the family. Y/n sat in silence by her mom or helped in the kitchen while reading a book or listening to music. Her mom scolded her but she could see the reason why. No one was even trying to talk to her.

It was almost as if she had to be in the room or near a conversation at the right time to even say a word. When they all sat down to eat dinner, y/n picked at her food listening to her cousins talk around her to her brothers. She eyed the ‘adult’ table from across the way and in some respects wished she was over there. At least she’d be quiet enough to fit in.

When she was younger she’d have to open her gifts as the eyes of everyone fell on her. It was always the most awkward thing but her mother never let up and always made her open them. Though, when she got older she agreed to at least wait until the very end of the party. At least it was easier as it was typically just a card with some money or a gift card in it and then maybe a small bag with some socks or something along those lines. It was never anything huge.

When it was time to say goodbye she waved but never gave anyone a hug. They sat in the entrance talking forever before they finally left and y/n was left to clean up and eat whatever dessert was left over, which she couldn’t totally be mad about.

When her own family left her apartment, y/n was left alone with silence and her anxiety of waiting until next year to do it all over again.
