I was planning on answering a bunch of asks and writing up that au I was talking about into an official post but I got distracted and, long story short, it's been four hours and I now have an 11-page Google Doc about the 7th Governor of Tennessee, Sam Houston (6th, depending on who you ask)
#he was also the first president of texas but that's not the reason i started researching him so that's not important really#he was only commander-in-chief during the battle of the alamo and governor during the civil war but who cares about that#he was governor of tennessee for approximately 1 year before his wife of three months left him#and he was so embarrassed he left office and moved in with a cherokee clan in arkasas#which is the second time in his life that he ran away from home to live with the cherokee#and then eight years later he became the first president of texas#did i mention it took eight years and becoming president of texas for him to convince his wife to officially divorce him?#and during that time he got remarried and divorced again?#actually i don't think she ever actually agreed he had to use his power as president to get a district court judge to do it for him#i'm going to make a powerpoint this man is FACINATING to me#he was actually made an official cherokee citizen and considered them his family which is really cool#this isn't for a class#i just fell into a rabbit hole#also in case anyone is wondering i am not from texas so i had never heard of this man until i was looking at a list of tennessee governers#and wondered why there was a gap during 1828#saframbles#history#sam houston#governer sam houston#president sam houston#i wonder if anyone is searching through the sam houston tag on tumblr.com#if you are please tell me why you're equally as fascinating to me as sam houston#texas history#tennessee history#i don't know what the frick to tag this so i'm just gonna stop now

I’m gonna write this down now so I can look like an absolute genius later (or look like a clown, but at least I said it with my full chest!)
❌ Spoilers for the FNAF Movie below! ❌
Ok, I might be huffing hopium here, but in my heart of hearts I STILL think Mike Schmidt is Mike Afton. If (or when) they make a sequel, there’s a way they can reveal this
So the most obvious thing from this movie is when Mike is in “Steve’s” office, and when “Steve” is reading Mike’s name out loud from his résumé, he stops mid-sentence. He looks at Mike for a weird amount of time, almost studying him, before completely changing the subject. There’s no way in hell “Steve” recognizes Mike from when he saw him as a kid when he kidnapped his brother Garrett 10+ ago, no chance. Also why would he go to Nebraska (unclear where the movie takes place, but let’s assume Utah because of the books) to kidnap a random kid and just drive off? Here’s what I think is going on…(also I’m gonna call him William from now on cuz we all know lol)
William fingered out that Mike is his son during that interview. My theory is that at some point, William was married and him and his wife have a son named Mike. And for one reason or another, they got divorced. This is when Mike was too young to really remember which is why he doesn’t recognize William during their meeting. Mike’s mom gains custody of Mike and remarries, she marries Mr. Schmidt. They have a child together, Garrett. Sometime after the divorce, William adopts a child, trying to cope after losing his only son. He adopts Vanessa.
William finds out about his ex-wife having another kid. He wants to cause her pain and suffering for leaving him. He follows the Schmidt’s and takes Garrett during the camping trip. Unable to handle the pain, Mike’s mom takes her own life, leaving Mike and his stepdad. Mr. Schmidt marries a little later to another woman, and she has a daughter named Abby. Sometime after this, both Mr. Schmidt and his new wife die, leaving Mike to care for Abby.
Vanessa owed William so much, he had adopted her while she had suffered in an orphanage for years. She would do anything he told her, even if it meant covering up his crimes. Years later, realizing what she was doing was wrong, she left her father and became a police officer, hoping to stop people like her father as she had failed to stop him.
Here’s another thing. Scott Cawthon knows that the fans are obsessed with the lore of FNAF. I think he knew he could make more movies, this isn’t going to be a one and done deal. Plus, he had his hand on this project every step of the way, he wouldn’t agree to anything that he didn’t want to happen in the story. Mike being William’s some is CRUCIAL to the story of FNAF (at least in the games). I think he’s trying to fake us out, you know how he loves to troll the fans!
Again, this is just a theory (A GAME THEORY lol), but I don’t think the idea of Mike being an Afton is dead just yet. Hoping and praying so I can look incredibly smart if or when the sequel drops 🙏🏻

Hi! I'm craving for a little drama here so if i could please request to write about Baldwin choosing between the woman he loves and the woman that was promised to marry him.
The woman he loves stayed with him all this time before and after his leprosy miraculously healed while the one promised to him, refused him at first and come back now that he is healed.
I know this is a long request but this idea has been in my head for days. Thanks and have a nice day😊💕
"Knock" "Knock"
"Who is it?" called an authoritative voice from inside. "It's me (Y/N)" Baldwin felt a smile crept on his face when he heard her voice. "Come in" he spoke in his commanding tone. (Y/N) stepped in in her regal and dignified manner. The servants knowing about their relationship. Took their cue to leave. Baldwin meanwhile had his smile frozen in his face.  "Ma Chérie, what happened?"
(Y/N) POV:
"Ever so smart Baldwin, you immediately caught my sour mood" "Even though no one else could read it" "Perhaps that's why I am so attracted to him". I pondered to myself.
"When were you going to tell me" I asked irefully. Baldwin grew anxious fearing about the possibility of me knowing. "That confirms it" I interrupted his thoughts. Baldwin swallowed and cast down a look on his table feeling guilty. "When were you going to tell me about your engagement?". "Mon amour, please listen" Baldwin pleaded as he attempted to tuck my hair behind my ears a gesture I loved so much. "No" I asserted myself. "Answer my question first, When were you planning on telling on me?" "After the engagement or" I paused deeply contemplating next words. I smirked and said mockingly "After marriage, perhaps your majesty by the grace of god wanted to make me your mistress and dishonor me in front on the entire nobility" I knew I hit a nerve when I saw Baldwin's eyes widen in dismay and anger. "Watch your words my lady" '"You and the entire court knows very well that I don't take disrespect well".
Exhausted I nodded my head and said "Please forgive me your majesty" "As your humble servant I should have known better"
Baldwin was once again overcome with guilt seeing your state. "(Y/N) I would never dishonor you like that, "atleast not intentionally." Tears rolled down my eyes I felt my entire world crumbling down in front me and I was helpless. "It's her, isn't it" "The princess whom you were betrothed during childhood" "Who cancelled her engagement when she found out about your disease" "The very princess who ridiculed you in front of entire court" "The very princess wh-" I stopped and sighed "What's the point of recalling" I thought as I looked at him in pain. "Ma Chérie, please understand Jerusalem needs allies".
"Is it her?" I questioned not bothering to hear his explanation. "Yes" he confirmed. I attempted to leave as Baldwin tried to grab my shoulder. I finally was able to brush of his hands and left the room.
William of Tyre POV:
"Father William may I come in" I was suprised to see my student here. "My king, you need not need permission" "You are always free to visit me as you please". The king entered looking distressed. "You look much better than the last time I saw you". "Lady (Y/N) sure has done excellent job". Seeing the king not in cheerful self made at the mention of his beloved made me realise why he came to visit me. "I do love her but I can't choose her over my crown". I smiled as I sadly recalled my memories of my old friend. "Your father was also in similar situation" "Your father King Amalric I of Jerusalem did not wish to divorce your mother but the high court wouldn't listen to him". "Your father too chose crown over love and ensured that his wife got a dispention that nobody questions her morality" "You were so young almost two" "Your father remarried when you were eight" "He purposefully alienated the patriarch responsible for annulment" "Your majesty your father did genuinely love your mother" "I could tell he was genially upset but helpless just like you" "It did hurt me to see my friend in so much in pain and I couldn't do anything" "Your majesty I don't want to go through same thing" "Those who don't learn mistakes from history are bound to repeat it but if his majesty feels this is the best option so be it".
Baldwin POV:
I became quite as I took careful consideration. I did regret my parents annulment and could tell despite my mother marrying multiple times. She was always unhappy
"(Y/N)" I thought of her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. I recalled when everybody gave up on me even my physician she stood by my side. Even when I believed like every one else that I was disfavored by God she made me believe otherwise. When I despised my rotten flesh she taught me to love myself. The day and nights she spent awake tirelessly working for me. Fought anyone who bad mouthed me. "How could I leave such a wonderful person" I thought. "I never intented to cause her pain and thought of prolonging the news to tell her. Alas! I was too late. She looked to exhausted. The woman whom I knew as one of mentally strong woman looked defeated. She didn't even beg me to stay. "You are right Father William, I will not repeat the same mistakes my parents did" "I will fight for her just like she fought for me"
(Y/N) POV:
Baldwin came running to me excitedly. "I wonder what it could be". "(Y/N)" Baldwin came over to me excitedly and held out a beautiful ring "I remember how you taught me to fight in tough times" "How god gives toughest fight to his bravest soldier" "(Y/N) please forgive my mistake" "I should have been able to stood up for you" "There has to be a way, we will find" "(Y/N), please make happiest man alive by being wife, queen consort of Jerusalem". "I shall honor and cherish you as long I lived. "I looked at him sadly and said "You are too late I already am betrothed to someone else".
"What!" Baldwin looked at you in anger, shock and pain
I nooded and said "I was so upset at you that I wanted to get back to you so after I left I proposed to someone else" "He immediately agreed to marry me"
"Who!" Baldwin growled angrily as he cluthched the ring. He looked a trembling mess a sight I thought I would never see
"Tiberias"
"Raymond iii, Count of Tripoli"
"Yes"

Hi there! I was wondering what your thoughts are on ACD Watson's wives. First of all, I know nothing about the marriage traditions or laws in Victorian England but it seems weird to me that he kept remarrying because I guess his wives kept passing away? I mean he didn't/couldn't divorce them back them, right?
He didn't do very well with his private practice from what I've gathered. How come he could afford remarrying all the time. Also in my culture (East Asian), if a person's spouses kept dying, the matchmaker would refuse service because that person would be considered a curse.
Thank you and have a great day!
Hi!
Your questions are pretty interesting. As a South-East Asian, I can understand how people would frown at the person whose spouses kept passing away. There must be quite a few similarities in our cultures, even if we're not from the same country/region.
1.) A simple, detached answer would be that Arthur Conan Doyle was not the best person when it came to keeping his stories consistent, especially on the character-related details.
He might've wanted to tell us that Watson got married, but probably he didn't want Watson's marriage to keep him from assisting Holmes with his cases, and that's why everything about Watson's married life and wives is so skewed.
He wasn't even consistent about the location of Watson's gunshot wound in A Study in Scarlet. Initially, Watson was shot in the subclavian artery of the left side. But on the next page, the wound location has been shifted to his leg? This is just one of the many examples of Doyle's inconsistencies in his stories.
Maybe he didn't check that Mary Morstan had died sometime during one of his stories. Anything is possible.
2.) Another version of the answer (which is heavily filled with Holmes/Watson shipping): Watson was an unreliable narrator and didn't want any unwanted attention of the general public drawn towards the nature of the relationship he had with Sherlock Holmes. That's why Watson was so inconsistent in the stories that he published in The Strand magazine. I believe there's a reason Watson describes Holmes as cold and calculating at some points, but goes on to describe the incidents where Holmes was undoubtedly kind to someone at other points of the stories. I even wrote a meta about it here .
The fanon version is that Watson wanted to avoid the risk of being arrested on the grounds of gross indecency, and so he made up a wife - or even several wives - to cover it up.
I mostly agree with this theory, because otherwise, Watson (who's married by the timeline of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes) going away with Holmes to Switzerland, and even sharing a room with him would be pretty weird and not exactly plausible, I don't think his first wife, Mary Morstan, is an imaginary character. But it's very much possible that her marriage to Watson was just a ruse to hide from the prying eyes of the public.
If we strictly talk about canon, then Watson marries Mary Morstan in The Sign of the Four, then she probably passes away by the time of The Return of Sherlock Holmes short-story collection (the jury is still out on that one - again, because of Doyle's inconsistencies), then Watson starts living with Holmes again as a bachelor for a long time. Then by the time of Casebook of Sherlock Holmes, his wife is brought up again.
Either it was another case of Doyle's inconsistencies, or Watson remarried sometime off-stage. (Though I think Doyle would've at least made a passing reference to Watson's remarriage, him being the POV character in most of the stories and all... idk.)
From what I've gathered after reading all the stories, Watson seemed to have only two wives at different points of time. Mary Morstan and another unnamed one in Casebook.
From the first-hand experience of reading those stories, I don't think Watson having multiple wives is a canonical thing. That's also a part of fan-interpretation. It's because the physical description of Watson's wife/ wives kept changing every time she was mentioned in any stories because of the lack of consistency in the whole narration. That's how it seemed to me when I read the stories. Though I've gone through them all only once, which means I could be wrong about this bit of detail in particular.
Still, Watson didn't seem to have numerous wives in canon to me. Just two.
And yes, you're right. Watson wasn't well-off even with his private practice. The fact that he was able to afford to remarry so many times (if he ever did) is quite odd.
Then there comes the social stigma behind divorce/remarriage. I'm not that familiar with the marriage traditions in Victorian England either, but I don't think people worldwide were so free and open-minded about the topic of divorce in general. Things have advanced in Western countries nowadays, but the social aspect of all this must have been quite different in the Victorian era. So, you're right about that thing too.
Tl;dr: There is no specific answer to your question, because the author of the original stories didn't bother to keep his details intact. They kept changing in canon, so you're free to believe whatever you want to. Because, as you said, the fact that Watson keeps remarrying all the time doesn't add up with his financial condition along with the societal conditions in that era.
So, everything is just open for interpretation here.
I personally believe that Watson only had one wife - Mary Morstan - whom he had a lavender marriage with (a fake marriage for the sake of society). I know this isn't canonical either, but what actually is canonical - well, nobody has a definite answer to that question.
I hope you find my answer satisfactory, because your ask was rather interesting.
Thanks.

in the Las Vegas wedding au, it's revealed that they can't get divorced because in order to get divorced they need a marine to sign the paperwork. Also Doflamingo las Vegas married Crocodile. Crocodile is still trying to get approval for a divorce
Well, yes, absolutely. See, the problem is, this wasn't the first time Doflamingo had 'tricked' Crocodile into marriage. Before, when he was still a warlord, at least he had the marine's respect. Now he can't even get one to sign the damned papers.
They've been married, divorced, remarried, divorced again, and much to Crocodile's misfortune - remarried again.
I HAVE A VISION, LOOK NOW!
The first time, it was at the first warlord meeting where they first met. Crocodile knew Dolflamingo's reputation but he didn't expect to be intimidated that much. Of course, the feeling quickly faded as soon as the bird opened his mouth and started rambling about the most idiotic things Croc had ever heard. For Doffy it was infatuation at first sight. He tried to impress Croc with whatever he could think of but it seemed like everything he said only made the other more and more annoyed at him. In the end, Crocodile couldn't take it and told him he was a huge pain in the ass and that he should fuck off. To which Doflamingo responded with "I can be more than a pain if you want to shut me up." Oddly enough it worked and they ended up getting wed (or at least on paper, even though Doffy insisted on a honeymoon). Croc made the excuse of "it's more of a business deal than anything".
Not after long Crocodile got too annoyed with him and forced him to sign their divorce (they had a big and messy fight(verbal and physical), which consisted of Doffy pleading and crying, Croc scoffing in distaste, Doffy cursing him out, Croc grabbing a random marine to sign the divorce approval, Doffy killing the poor marine and the cycle repeating three more times). In the end, Doffy signed, in hopes that by signing, he'd make Croc see how much he loves him - enough to let him go, and that would make Crocodile want to stay. It didn't.
Doflamingo started being even more insufferable at the warlord meetings (if he even went to them). It got so bad that the marines started a "go fund me" to pay anyone who could make him less of a menace. Crocodile got tired of it all and gave in. He took him back in, but it was the oddest thing. It sounded something like:
Croc walking up to Doffy unprompted and in zero context saying: Fine.
Doffy beaming: What? Really?
Croc: Only! Under the condition that you stop being such a pest.
Doffy: Yes! Absolutely yes! You wont regret it!!!
Crocodile regretted it. Doflamingo was still a pest, but this time only around Crocodile. Crocodile forged his signature and made Bon Clay mimic him for in front of the marines. He just took a divorce selfie and sent it to the real Doflamingo. That was how he broke the news.
During Croc's reign over Arabasta their paths crossed and Doffy was surprsingly tame. So Crocodile accepted his invitation to grab a drink. While under the influence, Crocodile shared about ruling Arabasta and Doflamingo about Dressrosa. As a joke one of them said "Haha we should do a political marriage and fuse our kingdoms" and the other one said "Yeah, let's go right now!" And they've been married ever since. Because a little after that the whole Luffy situation happend and now he can't even get close to a marine base, let alone ask them to sign the divorce papers. He tried doing it in impel down but the guards either laughed at him or he got the papers returned from Doffy cut n a paper heart or shreaded with a smilie face of something.

Cellbit and Forever got married during a drunken celebration after fighting a strong kishin egg. There had been underlying feelings for years between them (between most of the Five in all truth, not helped with the living situation), so even after sobering up, they never annulled the wedding, their relationship open to each other dating someone else as long as at the end of the day, they returned to each other.
In the aftermath of the Federation Incident, divorce papers soon followed. Eventually Cellbit was able to remarry, falling more and more in love with Roier, his boyfriend of six months at the time and newest weapon partner. Forever has not, though not for lack of trying. (Perhaps he goes after those unobtainable to him out of unconscious fear of hurting a lover again, being used against the person he chooses to give his heart to.)

A male Claude Faustus!Reader in the world of The Remarried Empress; he's Navier's butler who looks disinterested in everything but his Empress. He reveres her greatly and will do anything she wishes.
I wonder what everyone else thinks of him; with how the Empress is fond of him and how willing he is to sacrifice himself for her if need be.
Preface: You are a demon, but you aren’t contracted yet so you’re killing an insignificant amount of time by serving the Imperial Families throughout time. It just so happens that you are serving Navier as her butler presently.
Tumblr media
Sovieshu
Again, like most other fics I write, he doesn’t like you. The only reason he keeps you around is because you do a very good job as head of housekeeping. Because of your [unknown to him] demonic abilities, your abilities spanned to other duties aside from serving Her Imperial Majesty.
If he’s being honest, whenever he tries to talk to you it’s like talking to a wall. You gave no form of acknowledgment other than a nod before you walked away. It wasn’t like you were being disrespectful or anything, but he just found it unsettling.
He does hate how his wife is very fond of you and your company. But to be fair, he had no right to be so jealous. After all, it wasn’t like he hadn’t known about you before Navier hired you as her butler (a hate joke on how he didn’t tell his wife about taking Rashta on as a mistress).
Tumblr media
Rashta
She thought you were devilishly handsome in a mysterious and serious way, and she found her heart throbbing whenever she saw you. However, you never gave her the time of day. Again, it was like talking to a wall for her.
It made her furious and she tried crying to Sovieshu about it but she thought about it over again. Would the man that she was going to get married to be happy about her being infatuated with another man (demon, but whatever)? She decided against it, and just put up with it.
The only thing is that you often accompany the Empress and even walk arm-in-arm with her. You didn’t even show any romantic attraction to her. You also got along well with the handmaidens and gave them their due attention (being coworkers and not at all flirtatious, I mean).
Tumblr media
Navier
She hired you because she saw that you were experienced in being a butler, and honestly she could use one right about now. During your short time in the palace, you already proved yourself to be efficient and diligent, and good company overall.
When the ball had come up, you helped her by deciding who would be beneficial to invite and who wouldn’t. You strategically added Heinrey, already knowing what happens in the future. You really enjoyed playing God whenever you could, didn’t you?
Navier notices how hard you work but you never seem to break a sweat, which is when you told her your secret. She doesn’t mind, though. After all, your work made life as an Empress much easier. Plus, you managed to make her husband jealous.
Tumblr media
Heinrey
Again, thought you were a rival in the way you asked Navier to dance at the ball, but you had later told him that you harbored no romantic feelings for the Empress. You even told him to consider you an ally in his mission to ‘rescue’ his Queen.
You were the one who had planted him in the courtroom as Her Imperial Majesty was getting a divorce so that they might request a marriage from the High Priest. However, because it was consecrated ground, you were not allowed inside for obvious reasons.
What you did do is prepare the carriage and kill the guards that were put up at the gates. You made sure that the carriage windows were shut so no one saw the bloodied bodies. Also, so there were no surprise speed bumps, you made sure to clear the way.

imma join the "crowley's not gonna be a miserable cunt" bandwagon.
It's fun to meme about the Last 15 Minutes as the ineffable divorce, but they're both smarter than that. They both know they love each other, they've both indirectly confessed to one another. Even if during their last moments there were tons of misunderstandings in their "talk" when they just spoke towards one another instead of listening to what the other one had to say. And they for sure hurt each other in the process.
Sure, in the series Crowley mourns his dead best friend drunk in a bar, but the scene was supposed to originally happen in the St. James Park. This time, Aziraphale isn't dead, he's just gone upstairs. Crowley might despise his reasoning, but I think he'd connect the dots and understand them, even if he condemns them. Hell still wants its war that Aziraphale started. Crowley knows the Second Coming is underway from his infiltration into Heaven.
Crowley's precious, peaceful, fragile existence he/they carved out for himself/them is gone. I dunno am I gonna be the only one thinking this, but I think it’s a good thing! Crowley didn’t seem to be too happy with his current state, tired of living in his car, questioning the meaning to it all to Shax. Series!Crowley has been running all this time, he’s been living in a limbo and something needed to happen for him to wake up from his stupor. I think S3 is going to force both Aziraphale and Crowley to mature to the beings they were in the book. Aziraphale was So Done with Heaven. Crowley was an optimist.
If there was one rock-hard certainty that had sustained him through the bad times— he thought briefly of the fourteenth century— then it was utter surety that he would come out on top; that the universe would look after him.
Crowley's lived amongst humans for 6000 years and he's seen the shit they live through time and time again. He's gone local. Families lost to war/plague/other horror, diseases riddling their fragile bodies, misfortune after misfortune can pour down on these miserable creatures... and they somehow always get up and live on. They hope. They've got no choice but to. They heal, they'll remarry, get more kids. They'll love again and again. Their love isn't vanquished. Grief is, after all, love's natural continuation.
Even if it’s always Too Late, he has to stop running and start trying. And hoping. That’s the human way. That’s the Us way.
So no, I don’t think Crowley’s gonna waste time being sad. What Crowley's gonna be is MAD. Mad at Heaven (maybe a teensy bit mad at Aziraphale but that's besides the point) for their schemes. He'd love to get away from it all, but now that the other half of his group has been dragged back into the shitshow, I think he's going to start scheming on his own. Planning how to save his angel, the other half of his group, yet again.

How their love affair blossomed
The Princess Royal and Commander Timothy Laurence
HELLO! Number 233 | Published: December 19th 1992 | Article 2/2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Princess Anne's happy secret that she planned to wed Commander Timothy Laurence leaked out it brought much-needed joy to the beleaguered royal family.
One of the rare happy moments in a year of royal troubles came in May when Anne danced around a ballroom in the arms of her dashing naval officer. By “going public" with Tim just four weeks after her divorce from Captain Mark Phillips, she signalled that she was planning a future with the Queen's former equerry.
It was also her way of testing the water - to find out what the public's response might be. The general reaction was that the hard-working Princess deserved to find happiness at last after the break-up of her first marriage. But, in withholding the announcement of her betrothal until almost the last minute, Anne is once again proving that she likes to do things her way.
When she married Captain Phillips in 1973 she broke with royal precedent by insisting that her husband should not be given a title which he had not earned. This meant that her son Peter, 14, and daughter Zara, 11, have been the only grandchildren of a monarch this century who remain untitled.
Now Anne is once again setting a precedent by becoming the first divorced member of the Queen's family to marry for the second time. But, to avoid embarrassing her mother who is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, which does not sanction the remarriage of divorced people, she made the decision to wed in Scotland, because the Church of Scotland does not ban divorcées from remarrying.
And the man she has chosen comes from a vastly different background from her own. Tim Laurence is the great-great-great-grandson of a real-life merchant of Venice, called Zaccaria Levy, who in the 18th century left his home in the Italian city to forge a new life in England.
His business flourished and he became one of the first Jewish underwriters to become a member of Lloyds. In 1826, his son Joseph changed the family name to Laurence and by the next generation the family had abandoned its Jewish faith with Joseph's son, Percy, becoming an Anglican vicar.
And, at the weekend, Tim Laurence married in a Scottish village church, so different a setting from Princess Anne's first wedding in Westminster Abbey. But the Princess wants her new life to go on the way it began - out of the spotlight.
It was away from the limelight of official occasions ; that Princess Anne first began to notice Tim Laurence. In fact, they met through work - Tim was a junior officer in the Royal Navy, serving aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. But it was not until 1986, when he became an equerry to the Queen, that they really got to know one another.
The Princess, who was frequently at Buckingham Palace on official duties, could not help bumping into the quiet, well-spoken young officer. And when she needed an adviser on her work for a charitable trust she thought of Tim Laurence immediately. Although the Princess was still married to Captain Philips, she was lonely. Tim was sympathetic and the soul of discretion but they maintained nothing ; more than a friendship.
At the same time, the Queen recognised her equerry's worth by turning to him constantly for assistance on her royal engagements. She awarded his diligence in August 1989 by making him a Member of the Royal Victorian Order, MVO, a personal award.
During this period, while the world speculated about her private life, Princess Anne simply got on with her job. The Queen grieved for her daughter and appreciated the fortitude Anne displayed over such a long period of unhappiness. Her dedication to a number of good causes, notably the Save The Children Fund won her the respect and admiration of the public and gradually the transformation from the former royal spoilsport, who told the Press to "Naff off", into the royal workhorse was completed.
To single her out from her sisters-in-law, the Queen wanted to honour her only daughter with the title Princess Royal. It was some time before Anne, who had been initially reluctant to accept, agreed - and the title was conferred in 1987. Between then and now the Princess Royal has devoted herself to her work but for the whole of this year her happiness has been evident to those around her and said far more than any Palace announcement.
And not even the ruby ring on her third finger, left hand, could match the sparkle in her eyes when the news was officially given that she and Tim would marry. Not so long ago, the Princess said: "Sailing on a sunny day with a fresh breeze blowing, with maybe somebody you really care for, is the nearest thing to Heaven I will get on this Earth", and it seems no coincidence that since she became close to Tim her love of sailing increased. At first the couple sailed on the Solent but when their plans to marry in Scotland were completed, her 36ft yacht Blue Doublet was moved to a new mooring on Lock Craigie.
Over the past month they have enjoyed several weekends sailing to the Outer Hebrides and to the islands of Jura and Mull. Far from the world's prying eyes, they could just be together, not Princess and commoner but friends who found love.

So as I am seeing a new little influx of honeyworks fans, likely due to the shitty herotaru anime, I want everyone to listen up.
LIPxLIP, the idol duo featured in the anime, are a lot deeper than what the anime explains. I understand that it was Hiyori's story (even though they didn't get her personality right either lmao) so it's not going to go into detail about Aizou or Yujiro. I'm fine with that. I really am.
What bothered me was the small bits we were given are incredibly misleading for new fans. The anime exists more as fanservice for pre-existing fans. Fans who read the novels, regularly watch MVs, and so forth.
So I'm going to go over LIPxLIP's stories. Their thematic importance. Their relationship, and their relationship with Hiyori. I am quite sick and tired of seeing new fans blab about them as hateful misogynists, shallow, uncaring towards their fans...and all that.
Starting off with the local hero of the anime, Shibasaki Aizou.
Back when he was a small child, he loved singing. His mother played piano and his father played guitar (his father probably taught him how to play guitar? That or he picked it up himself. I don't think that was ever specified). He entered a children's singing competition, and ended up winning.
However, a couple years later, his father began to lie about going to work when he was really going out and having an affair with (another woman? multiple women??). This led to the father and their mother, Shibasaki Yuko, to constantly argue and scream at each other.
As a result, Ken (Aizou's older brother), would make pasta for himself and Aizou, as their parents were too busy screaming at each other for hours at a time. The novels stated that back then, their parents would argue so often that they would forget to buy groceries, and would leave Aizou starving. During this time, Yuko began drinking and getting drunk- which would scare her kids.
Eventually, the Shibasaki parents got a divorce, and Yuko began to drink even more heavily. She would cry and mourn. Aizou and Ken were still children at the time. Aizou, being the young child he was and recalling how Yuko used to smile when he sang, began to sing for her in hopes of cheering her up. Of course, Yuko just threw her alcohol at him and screamed at him that he needed to shut up- he was too noisy. It's also been heavily implied that she would hit Aizou too when she was drunk.
From this, Aizou stopped singing, being physically unable to. He began living out his days without truly living, just getting by. He had friends, but didn't hang out with them or join any clubs, having become depressed and understimulated.
In middle school, when playing his guitar one day, his mother broke it and screamed at him to never play it at home again. This led to him crying and not playing again...until he came across a musical instrument store, where he meets Morita. He, one day, brings the guitar in and begs him to fix it. Morita agrees, and even allows Aizou to stay in an upstairs room that used to be used for music lessons every now and then, on the condition he returns home occasionally. So he essentially finds a second home in the music store.
One day, he sees on his phone that there's an audition to become a teenage idol, so he signs up, which is where he meets Yujiro.
He (and Yujiro) both pass due to their spectacular performances, and are told to become a unit. Aizou now has his fire back, looking forward to the future.
.
Now, for Someya Yujiro aka Aizou's anime arm candy.
When he was little (maybe before he was born? or maybe before he was 5??) his birth father died (unknown cause). His mother, Tae, got remarried to Someya Tamagoro. At first, things were fine. His father trained him in the art of kabuki.
Yujiro, at a young age, desperately wanted to be on stage doing kabuki with his new father. In fact, the desire was so strong, that he turned down all invites to hang out and play from the kids at his school. He didn't watch tv, he didn't do anything that would be considered a hobby. He abandoned everything that makes up a childhood to pursue his dream.
However, one day...his father told him and his younger brother, Koichiro, (who looked down on Tae and Yujiro for joining the Someya family), that Koichiro would be his heir. Yujiro tries to protest, only for Tamagoro to glare down at him coldly and tell him that he can't do it...he has no beauty.
All these years training, and Yujiro finally understands...he was never meant to stand on that stage. His father trained him for years, never truly intending for him to be on stage. Koichiro holds this over Yujiro, always mocking him and shoving him around.
As a result, Yujiro was banned from even entering the practice halls, and he became a helper of the house. He cleaned up backstage after shows, did laundry, all of that. Along with that, Tamagoro became colder to him, while Koichiro mocked him and abused him- verbally and sometimes physically. Yujiro thinks of taking his mother and running away, but has nowhere to go. He is absolutely miserable.
Of course, one day, Koichiro, for some reason, allows Yujiro to perform at a shrine once in his stead. We do not have any details on this, except that it made Yujiro happy and was clearly a one-time thing.
In either case, Yujiro too, lived a life of silence and loneliness. He tried to smile for his mom so she wouldn't worry, the one person who spoke to him. He had no friends, no hobbies, he accepted his fate of being his family's shadow, watching as Tamagoro has Yujiro's name removed from anything mentioning the Someya name, especially kabuki sites.
He was, essentially, disowned.
Tae still encouraged him to find something that made him happy...which eventually came in the form of the idol audition, where he meets Aizou.
...
NOW. That's a hell of a lot deeper than herotaru gave us. And again, it's fine that they couldn't go all into depth- after all, it's Hiyori's anime and her backstory is more simple. We can't have the idols outshinng her now, can we?
In any case, going strictly based on the novels (as the Hanipre stories are their own thing...though I like to consider them canon, but I know they're technically not), the stories of Aizou and Yujiro begin.
After agreeing to become a unit (or they won't debut at all), the two do not get along at all. Aizou mocks Yujiro for his lack of strength and stamina, and Yujiro mocks Aizou for being unable to read sheet music, Aizou finds out that Yujiro's father doesn't think he has what it takes to be an idol. So, he takes him to his secret spot and the two practice and talk.
Yujiro eventually gains Tamagoro's approval, and the two do a commercial, though they are not very well known. They want to debut.
After multiple instances of various situations (including Aizou sharing his music room with Yujiro, some bullies shoving Aizou into a pool at a live show and Yujiro yelling at them and teaching Aizou how to swim, going through an aquarium together and Aizou winning a stuffed penguin and giving it to Yujiro when he sees how disappointed he is that he didn't get it), they finally get their debut song, Romeo.
Eagerly, they practice it together. During this time, they're thinking about whether or not they should go to high school. Aizou tells Yujiro how he wants to avoid one high school in particular.
Yujiro eventually decides he wants to, because Narumi Sena inspired him. She was the one who recommended Sakuragaoka to him. Because of her, Yujiro checks the school out and runs into Aizou. He admits to Aizou he's thinking about going here, and Aizou balks. He's absolutely appalled, and complains about not wanting to go there. (Which..??? Aizou..??? No one said you had to?!) Yujiro points this out and Aizou has the flimsy excuse of "it'll be easier for Manager Uchida to pick us up".
...I'm sure. But I digress.
Filming for the Romeo MV comes, and the two are inspired by Sena's professionalism, and at the end, Aizou finds Yujiro alone and, after arguing over who is the first lip in their unit name, they share a toast together.
The MV released in February, just before high school begins, and Yujiro and Aizou are proud to see themselves on the giant tvs in town. Yujiro remarks to himself how he feels as though he can overcome anything, and how he'll still be depressed- there'll still be days he can't even get out of bed, where he wants to run away, desperately endures tears, and so on...but he knows Aizou will be by his side.
School starts up, where they meet Hiyori. In the novels, Hiyori has to actually work hard to gain their trust and friendship (I did a full novel-to-anime comparison here. I am skipping over retelling it so I can continue with LIPxLIP's story, but rest assured, I will get back to it and explain their friendship.)
The end of the year comes- and I am assuming it's autumn or so when the next novel takes place, since they mention an upcoming "spring concert" and how they've been idols for a year now.
The two boys are getting along more- though they still have their argumentative moments. They are given an opportunity to be in a play as the main characters. Aizou is hesitant, but Yujiro, who has acting experience thanks to kabuki, accepts it immediately. Yujiro cheers Aizou on in his own weird way and Aizou accepts the job as well.
However...during the first reading...Aizou loses his place and the director goes off on him. I mean, even when I was reading/translating it, I was appalled myself.
Yujiro stands up for Aizou, and nearly gets them both fired because of his "bad attitude". They agree to stay on board, but now, there's tension in the air.
Aizou's new at all of this, so most people ignore him, esp the director. But Yujiro is good at what he does, so people expect perfection from him. He's suffering as well, on the opposite spectrum from Aizou. Hell, just one scene alone, Yujiro and some NPCs did for over two hours straight with no breaks. They've been practicing in general for a while now and this was, according to Aizou, the first mistake Yujiro makes...which causes the director to scream at him.
Now, multiple times already, Aizou has ran after Yujiro and abandoned his spot, and thinks about how he refuses to leave Yujiro alone, because he was worried about him.
He even seeks help from some female colleagues (who...know about Aizou's brother and mistakes him for him. Which leads to a genuinely hilarious moment of Aizou screaming in actual horror about the idea of dating a girl, and he only thought about it "for 3 seconds". He says he talks with a few girls but never wants to be personally involved with them) to help him better himself at acting.
Eventually, Aizou realizes what he has to do and...does it. He lightens up the entire room with his humor and even earns Yujiro's gratitude and respect (though...Yujiro kind of accuses him of trying to "woo him" when Aizou insists they practice together??? and says he may start some rumors??? Hello???)
Practice resumes, and Aizou takes singing lessons from IV of Ft4 due to not understanding how to sing with emotions and not just singing something well.
Dress rehearsals start, and Aizou recalls, back when he was a child, the joy of singing. He remembers the joy when he sang in the children's competition, and amazes everyone. Things are going well.
Until...Yujiro eventually collapses from a lack of eating and sleeping. Aizou catches him and Yujiro is taken to a hospital. Aizou worries for his wellbeing until he is able to check on him. At first, Aizou scolds Yujiro for not taking care of himself, before blaming himself for not realizing Yujiro wasn't taking care of himself. He admits to himself he saw Yujiro not eating and being tired during the day.
After the first day of the actual play, Yujiro tells Aizou about the time he was able to perform at a shrine, and Aizou, now realizing the truth about how Yujiro wasn't able to perform on stage, encourages Yujiro to dance for him, even assuring him that he was the only one watching.
After the director interrupt them, the two both think about how they have a future of hope ahead of them.
OKAY.
NOW that we are now all caught up with their stories, let's break down their relationship.
The two of them fight. They always have. They have their ups and downs often, butting heads about the best way to do things. However, they both acknowledge that fighting is part of their own love. Source.
The entire point of the Romeo novel was for them to realize they can rely on each other, how they are no longer suffering alone, and chasing their dreams. Aizou realizes that there's someone who will always stick up for him, even when they don't get along. Yujiro realizes that he doesn't have to suffer alone and can rely on a partner- not just for work, but for his emotional needs as well, as he points out in the epilogue.
The entire point of the LOVE&KISS novel (aside from telling an AU story, which half of the novel is the fantasy universe) was to nip their trauma in the bud. They have unintentionally begun to rely heavily on each other.
With Aizou, he finds his passion for singing again. Not just his dream- but the pure joy he gets when he sings. He doesn't need his mother's approval anymore (though she moved to France anyway and got remarried there, so it's not like he'll see her again).
With Yujiro, he's finally able to prove to his father, his brother, and the director too that he's someone worthy of being on the stage. Not just as an idol, but as an actor too. He even performed kabuki on stage- albeit it was supposed to be solely for Aizou's eyes only.
The two argued twice in the novel, and the rest of the time was spent worrying about each other, spent helping each other, and strengthening their bond. It's because of each other that they were able to overcome a harsh hurdle in their lives, the things that blocked them from becoming truly happy with their careers.
With a bit of offhand flirting and standing by each other firmly, the two have cemented themselves as the most important people in each other's lives. Hell, they even wear the same outfts in Chapter 7 as they do in Samishigariya, where it explicitly states that they're the most important people to each other (or, at least Yujiro is to Aizou), interconnecting this novel to the song in question.
As for Hiyori...no, she was not in this novel. She was briefly in Romeo at the very end when complaining about city boys, but despite working for them at this point in time, she does not show up at all in LOVE&KISS. Hell, she's not even mentioned.
I do not think it is a continuity error. I think this was done deliberately- because what purpose would she serve? I'm not trying to sound mean, I adore Hiyori. But she knows nothing of their backstories or trauma. And LIPxLIP are not the type to blab about their past abuse. It's taken them a while to be open and honest with each other even now. The novel is about Aizou and Yujiro and their bond. They had their own spotlight in Hiyori's novels.
With Hiyori, they obviously have grown to care for her. They've helped her dress up for Asuka and confess to him, and approved of Nagisa as boyfriend material for her, even encouraging her to go for him because they know Nagisa truly loves Hiyori.
("But Lisi! You said you're going based off of the novels and MVs!" Yes, but Hiyori's newest song and Nagisa's song both show that the event in the anime happened and are firmly continuing it, so it is...canon.)
Either way, the two still make fun of Hiyori and gang up on her, but despite that, they still are there for her...kind of? It's not like she really faces any hardships aside from the bullying incident that eventually blew over. But they do support her dream in being a track athlete.
They respect her hard work. They respect her.
Even so, despite them clearly being good friends, there's still a wall between them. Aizou and Yujiro haven't told her anything about their lives...and why should they?
If you're going based on the anime, they have every right not to tell her anything. Hiyori's first instinct when Ken told her a bit about Aizou was "thank god it's not real trauma. hmm how do I fix him?" and then yelling at Yujiro that he's not hated by his family because his mother makes him lunch.
Knowing what you know now, you can see where I'm going with this? Anime Hiyori seriously butted her nose where it didn't belong and, unintentionally or not, she completely undermined their trauma. Sure, they didn't hear her talking with Ken, but they sure as hell heard her when she said Yujiro wasn't hated by his family. And not to mention that aggravating as fuck scene of her comparing Aizou's dislike of women to her dislike of squid.
Aizou dislikes women partially because of his family, yes, but it's mainly because of his trauma with his mother.
They're friends, yes, but not personal friends. Aizou and Yujiro will help Hiyori, but they are not willing to let Hiyori help them outside of work-related issues.
LIPxLIP were able to grow as people because of each other, they rely on each other, they don't need anyone else because they have each other. They enjoy the presence of Hiyori and Minami, and they respect Ft4 as senpais, but that's about it.
Herotaru trashed their stories. Omitting things is fine, but not at the expense of ruining their backstories and personalities.
I think the anime should have been longer so we can focus more on their backstories and personalities. And give us a reason to truly believe that Hiyori, Aizou, and Yujiro are friends, rather than just shrug and say "yeah, they're friends because she said she has a dream".
And no, Yume Fanfare is not for Hiyori. The song is hinted to have been sung during high school, yes, this is after the bullying incident with Chizuru. We know this because we see Chizuru crying in the song Heroine Tarumono and the exact same frame is in Yume Fanfare, which Hiyori does not appear in. They are not gesturing to her, or looking out at her in the audience. She is behind the stage. As seen in the herotaru MV. They are gesturing to each other, singing and dedicating this song to each other. Hell, it goes over their trauma. It does not show us Hiyori's dream. Yume Fanfare is AIZOU AND YUJIRO'S ONLY.
Also Yamako, the creator of them, has said so herself as well. Sooo...yeah.
You can ship what you want, but you cannot and will not take Yume Fanfare from me because a shitty adaptation wanted to be special.
I hope this post has been helpful to anime-onlys.
LIPxLIP Novels: Romeo, LOVE&KISS
Bonus: Yujiro's solo dedicated to Aizou and Aizou's solo dedicated to Yujiro

How would the brothers karamazov be if it was an early 2000s italian telenovela with a low budget? 🧵
We follow the (dis)adventures of the Morettis (Moretti < moro = brown), a roman family that owns a very famous bar.
The head of the family is Matteo (I've never met a single Teodoro (fyodor) in my life + Matteo means God's gift too)
His oldest son Giorgio (again, I've never met a single Demetrio (Dmitri) in my life + Giorgio is a name related to the earth > the goddess demeter) never finished highschool, he got in the army but soon dropped out to follow his new girlfriend Caterina to Milan.
Caterina is the daugther of a retired soldier who got Giorgio into the army in the first place. While he was with Caterina, though, he became friends with her sister Agata, who introduced him to her friend Giulia, who everybody calls Lia (Grushenka. Same shit, you won't find any Agrippinas here).
Matteo had Giorgio with a young woman named Adele, whom he was forced to marry when he got her pregnant and divorced a few years into their marriage. Matteo remarried an even younger woman, Sofia, who gave him two children named Giovanni and Alessio.
Giovanni is about to graduate in natural sciences. He rarely visits his family, but he happened to pop by when Giorgio and Caterina were there too. He secretly fell for her and planned to move to Milan as well to follow her and keep and eye on his brother.
Alessio (whom everybody calls Lele) has always been a quiet, lovely child. He dropped out of uni a few months into the semester to follow his true calling and become a priest. He is following a seminary in Vatican city and visits his father every weekend. (Let's pretend they're roman catholics for the sake of this. DOSTO DONT CRUCIFY ME)
Paolo "Cacaliscia" (literally "smooth shit", best rendition of Smerdyakov i can give you), the three Morettis' "distant cousin", works at the family bar and is the one who knows all the gossip. He despises his job and how his "uncle" treats him, so from time to time he tells everybody's business to the right (wrong) person.
Paolo's scenes are always in the bar. In every single episode with him he's either cleaning glasses with an annoyed expression, leaning on the counter with a shit eating grin ready to gossip or just being the typical caricature of a gay guy in an early 2000s piece of media.
Lele is seen with one (1) signature friend, Michele Raccattoni (raccattare=to collect), who's in the seminary with him but is not very... priest like. The directors LOVE adding scenes of him coming back to their shared room late into the night and Lele switching on the lights annoyed.
The show is top of the charts for five years, has 12 seasons and is still ongoing, everyone and their mother lost their shit when Lele almost left the seminary for Lia and some actual radical priest condemned the show during a sermon (he wanted Lia and Giorgio together).
Giorgio's actor has become italian teenage girls' n1 dream guy and in 2021 there's the start of a whole fandom for the pairing between Alessio and Michele. People who like Giovanni are considered edgy and no one likes Paolo except three Cacaliscia apologists on twitter dot com (me).
In the final episode Lele finally rejects the avances of Elisa, a girl in the seminar who has a crush on him, and becomes the youngest cardinal in Rome because he can. He celebrates the double marriage between Lia/Giorgio and Caterina/Giovanni. Paolo is the flower girl.
The ceremony is stopped when Niccolò, a boy whom Alessio had taken under his wing, storms into the cathedral and tells everyone that Matteo has been found dead. It turns out Paolo had murdered him. The two couples find his will. He wanted to leave everything to Alessio, who decides to divide his inheritance between his brothers and their wives. While he's looking for Paolo to tell him he's going to get some money too he finds out he hung himself in the church confessional.
And uhh thats it. Notte notte.

Got a “conference” call from my kiddos…
And let just say ahead of time that things are okay. I was very surprised because as some of you may know the relationship between my son and myself is still strained. The divorce has impacted him mentally and I will admit that during the proceedings, I didn’t check in on him as often as I should have. Mind you, my children were both adults when my ex filed. Of course, that isn’t an excuse, and I should’ve been available to my son and listened to his struggles just like he watched me trying to handle mine.
I digress.
My children called and the first thing my son says is “Why didn’t you say that you and T** (1400) are this serious?”
Now, mind you, my children know 1400. I’d gradually introduced them to him while we were still on the islands, and he’d helped them quite a bit when I moved, until he also had to leave. So they know him, and they know how well he treats me, and I, in turn, am very aware how he treats my children. In a very short time, 1400 has become someone they can turn to, who they trust, albeit there being a very hard line of who he is in their life. It sounds a lot more complex than it is. Suffice to say, if either my children every called him and said “I need help”, he’d drop everything without a second thought.
I digress again.
My reaction to my son’s question and my children’s lingering stares of course was “I seriously have no idea what you mean?” Because I didn’t and still kind of don’t. But apparently, 1400 has touched upon the subject of something very long-term. To quote my son, who quoted 1400 “I see spending the rest of my life with your mom”.
Now, naturally, I bristled cause what? In the same breath, my daughter clarified that T** also said that he’s fully aware that I don’t want to get remarried anytime soon, if at all, and that he’s perfectly okay with it, but rather that he asked how my children would feel if he asked me to move to Greece.
I’m shocked but also am not. We’d jokingly edged upon the subject of international living. I’m still trying to find my roots here. And I don’t want to rush into anything right now. Some of you know that the 6 to 9 month mark is my make it or break it point. And I feel like I want to say fuck it and leave (read: run away) but I can’t do that. At the same time, why not? I do know that I need to go into this with a clear head and right now, with my mental state reaching a new low, I’m not in a good place to make life altering decisions.
Again, this is something 1400 is fully aware of, but the way my daughter explained is that 1400 is ready whenever I am and that he wanted to ask my children for permission in a sense, as old timey as it may seem. My children explained that their permission isn’t needed but both are grateful that T** had the sense to ask them for their input, that he values their opinions.
So now I’m sitting here, crying, because… I know 1400 doesn’t want the title of dad but there are times where he’s worthier than my children’s biological father. Because instead of just thinking “you and me”, he always, ALWAYS wants to make sure my children are okay with him moving another step forward, that they’re included as much as possible.

LONG LIVE
Long live the walls we crashed through How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you I was screaming, "Long live all the magic we made" And bring on all the pretenders One day we will be remembered —Long Live (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift
In which Joshua and Dion were high school sweethearts.
Joshua and Dion used to be high school sweethearts. Joshua was a straight-A student, Dion was a varsity swimmer.
Dion was older than Joshua but they’re in the same year level due to Dion missing classes for competitions.
They fell in love over freshman year summer break, when Joshua was assigned to tutor Dion over catch-up lessons. Dion was an eager learner, Joshua was a patient teacher.
They went out to the beach once on their first date, getting sand in their sandals with gentle waves lapping over their bare legs.
They kissed for the first under a mistletoe that Christmas. They didn’t know it but Clive happened to catch them in the act, but didn’t say anything.
Soon, Dion went higher up the competition ranks. He may even represent the national team at this point. He had to take another leave of absence from school to prioritize his training.
This ended up with him dropping out of high school altogether and moving states to where the training camp was. Dion and Joshua promised to keep in touch.
They didn’t.
Life got busier and busier for Joshua, but also more troublesome. On his junior year, the Rosfields planned to get a divorce, and Joshua had to figure out what to do with his life. Clive was away at college, and last Joshua heard, wasn’t exactly having a good time there either. He didn’t want to worry his brother.
Clive found out about the divorce a little too late, and this caused a temporary rift between the brothers. Joshua was all alone. He wanted to call Dion, find comfort and support. But Dion was preparing for an international competition. Joshua didn’t want to disrupt Dion’s concentration, and so he didn't call.
This was how they began to drift apart.
Dion did eventually find out when he came home to visit one time during Joshua’s senior year. They fought for the first time, not in shouts but in silence. Dion was angry , hurt that Joshua didn’t confide in him. "Is that how little you think of me," was his armor-piercing question. "Am I not even friend enough for you to lean on me?"
They decided to give each other space indefinitely. Joshua cried for the first time in a while since his parents’ divorce.
Clive regretted not having been there for Joshua when all this happened. He was graduating in a semester, and went home on some weekends to help the family (Elwin, Joshua) adjust. Sometimes Jill came along.
Clive met Jill, a freshman student librarian at college at that time, during his junior year when he was failing most of his courses. She was a huge help to him at that time, becoming his rock and moral support while he found his focus again. Clive was able to process his parents’ divorce a little better because Jill was there. They got together during Clive’s senior year.
Joshua graduated from high school. He attended a state university on a scholarship to help with the family finances. The GPA requirement was ridiculous but given his grades in high school, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. Clive also moved back home for work, and things were okay for a while.
Annabella invited the Rosfields to dinner a year after the divorce. There they got a huge surprise: she revealed she remarried and was expecting. She brought her new husband and stepson.
It’s Dion. Joshua turned pale and breaks into a cold sweat. It’s him it’shimit’shim—
He asked to use the restroom, and Clive followed him. Annabella scoffed at the rejection. Dion was clearly uncomfortable.
Joshua excused himself for the rest of the night and sneaked out alone to a coffee shop still open at midnight. Lots of students were pulling all-nighters, it was a good distraction as any. He ordered a cup of hot coffee—Dion’s favorite roast. He tried hard not to cry.
At 1AM someone asks to share his table. Joshua looked up. "Hello," Dion awkwardly waved.
Dion ordered Joshua’s favorite drink—a hot chocolate drink. They sat in silence for half an hour, not daring to look at each other.
To this day, Joshua didn’t know who between them was hurt more when they broke up. But it wasn't right to compare, is it? Each person’s pain is different. He never even asked Dion how he was doing, so what right did he have to complain?
At 2AM they both blurt out at the same time, "I’m sorry." Dion backed off, letting Joshua explain himself first. "It’s all right, I won’t get mad."
So Joshua poured his heart out, at how so many things overwhelmed him, how much he missed Dion, how he regretted not keeping in touch, for presuming. He realized that he’s changed so much and that Dion must probably hate him as he was now.
"I could never," Dion said softly. "And you’re still the same Joshua I know. Stubborn as ever, but earnest and kind. The one I fell in love with."
If anything, Dion’s the one who’s sorry for not keeping in touch. He didn’t want to be seen as clingy, needy. During his time away he became homesick, and the pressures of winning and excelling at competitions ate away at him. His father became stricter and stricter, and Dion wished it would all end.
Then suddenly one day it all did. He gravely injured his shoulder due to overuse. The damage was so severe that he might need surgery. They have the means for it, but it would also mean that he would miss this berth to qualify for the World Championships. But not getting it fixed would mean a life of chronic pain and possible disuse of his arm. He had to choose.
Dion chose to give up swimming. It was a painful decision. He didn’t leave his room for days until his scheduled shoulder surgery. After that was done, he was all on his own. His father didn’t care anymore. No matter—Dion had the means to support himself for now anyway.
Soon Sylvester remarried to Annabella, to Dion’s greatest surprise. "Oh, aren’t you the boy my son was tutoring back then?" Dion could only nod numbly.
Truth be told, he’d been dreading this dinner as well. Dion never called Joshua all this time, never told him what was going on, never asked for help when he needed it the most, since he didn’t want to worry Joshua. Damn if that didn’t sound suspiciously familiar, Joshua thought, finally laughing brokenly.
They were both thinking the same thing after all. Like two peas in a pod. They really were idiots. Dion concurs with a rueful smile.
All that was finally cleared up, and they hold hands again for the first time in a while. "So where do we go from here?"
"We’re now legally relatives so that puts a wrench into things," but more than that, Dion thinks he’s changed, too. More than he'd realized. He never really thought about it seriously, though, until Joshua had opened up.
"We’ve become two different people, but I’ve never regretted being with you. Loving you." A tear fell from Joshua’s eye, and Dion found it beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. "I had the time of my life with you, Dion. The moments we shared, the magic we made together—all of it."
Dion brought a hand close to Joshua’s face, catching the fallen tear on the edge of his finger before cupping his cheek. "Who would’ve thought we’d connected the way we did? All the walls we’ve crashed through, all the mountains we've moved?"
"I love you, Joshua," Dion said, softly kissing Joshua's hand. "You’ll always have a special place in my heart."
And Joshua knew it isn’t the kind of love they once had for each other, but it was still love all the same. "I know, Dion. I love you, too."

Taylor headcanons
So now that we have a clearer picture of Taylor's intended backstory, I updated my headcanons about her history and figured it's time for a headcanon dump:
She was born and raised in Canada
Her parents have been divorced for as long as she can remember. Her father had primary custody, and for a long time Taylor only had visits at her mother's place
Neither of her parents had a lot of money and she grew up in a kind of low-income neighborhood. Her dad had a house with a bit of yard (room for the tire swing) but her mother has made a few moves closer and further away depending on what she could afford
She was close with her father growing up but he has issues along the lines of the J's, and as Taylor got older his problems got more severe. He started going to inpatient rehab off and on, during which times she started staying with her mom more frequently and eventually moved in with her (around age 14-15)
Her mother had been dating around for years and at that time had a boyfriend who was the baby's father. He helped a bit financially but the pregnancy was a strain as per the given backstory. Taylor was around 16 when her half-sibling was born
Taylor officially lived with her mother until she graduated high school (age 18 or so) but she never felt truly attached to her, and towards the end of that time she often couch-surfed at friends' or extended family's places to relieve her mom of some financial pressure
She worked part-time and saved money, and before deciding that she wanted to go to college she did her traveling-around-America-for-2-years thing
And she did it in her dad's janky black jeep that he got new the year she was born (THE kind of jeep, you know). It was always going to be hers when she was old enough to drive and she took it to college with her, and she's not going to let go of it until it crumbles into a pile of rust (it's on its way there)
She doesn't know if she'll go back to Canada after she graduates or if she'll stay in the U.S. She doesn't have strong ties with her family in Canada anymore; she talks with her dad on the phone a few times a month and tries to remember her half-sibling at Christmas, but she hasn't visited since she left to travel. On college breaks she either remains in the dorms or couch surfs again, with various students or professors who'll give her a break or, more recently, with Daniel at his parents' house
I'm not sure how much about her life Daniel is supposed to know in the game, but I don't think it's very much (her "I'm full of surprises" line and all). She doesn't open up about herself often, and what Daniel knows is just pieces of the picture probably influenced by whatever Angela thinks she knows and imparted to him
~
So yeah, most of this I had before the new info. Previously I imagined Taylor's mother was almost entirely out of the picture, so the only real change was to make her mother more relevant and shift the time line back a bit earlier to make room for Taylor living with her mom. Also I used to say her mother remarried and Taylor had a few much younger step-siblings that she didn't really know, so they got replaced by her younger half-sibling.

——————
Conner was only three years old when his parents divorced. As a toddler, your parents all of a sudden not being together anymore is confusing. One second they're in love and you’re a big happy family, the next it’s all ripped apart. Conner had been so excited to be a big brother when Bella was born, then just three months later, their parents were separated.
After rushing out of Forks, not wanting to be stuck there any longer, their mother, Renee, moved the two siblings in with their grandmother in California. In turn, moving the children away from their father. Years later, when Conner was nine, the small family of three picked up and moved to Phoenix, even further from the small rainy town. As time went by, Conner longed to return to Forks, but more importantly, his father. Although he couldn't speak for Bella, Conner absolutely hated the sun and heat that the new town brought. He knew his father, Charlie, was alone and missing his children just as much as Conner missed him.
Though the children did get to visit their father, it wasn't at all the same as growing up with him around. Their mother was loving sure, but unfortunately not too great at mothering. Conner found himself being forced to grow up too quick. Watching over Bella and making sure the decisions their mother made didn’t harm Bella in the process. Renee had a habit of getting herself and her children into heavy situations, whether it be financial or otherwise. So, when Conner reached the age of eleven he found himself handling the finances for the family, making sure that they wouldn’t face eviction for the fifth time. He tried his best to shield Bella from the world, in hopes she wouldn’t be forced to mature at the rate he had. He had promised himself that he would keep his little sister safe at all costs.
Throughout the years, Conner worked to keep that promise. With some difficulty. He had never, once in his life, met someone clumsier then Bella. He had lost count of how many times she had gotten concussions or broken bones as a child. Even after the older sibling had graduated high school, he found himself being called in for a number of reasons. Bella fell and hit her head in gym. Bella twisted her ankle on the stairwell. Bella fainted in biology. Connor was used to being called in to “save” the younger sibling. Because of this, as tempted as he was to move back to live with his father, he stayed in Phoenix.
So the same month their mother had gotten remarried, Conner started schooling at their local college. Since most of his free time was spent with his otherwise socially awkward sister, Conner found himself without much of a social life. College was a new strange thing to get used to, seeing as most people his age were out partying every weekend with friends. So he stuck to himself, going from class to class, trying to make decent grades. That was until he met Mia.
To say it was love at first sight would be a stretch. He had dated before, during high school, but it never amounted to anything serious in the end. Most girls his age had different priorities than he did, but Mia was eerily similar to him in so many ways. They had shared a class together on accounting, and hadn’t interacted much with each other at first, but Conner was hooked.
He thought she could be an angel, the beautiful curls that cascaded down her back and the way her eyes sparkled when she smiled. He just needed an excuse to get her to notice him. He wasn’t very good at flirting, that much was obvious given that the only thing he could think of was asking her for a pencil every day.
Eventually, after a few weeks of sitting next to her, she finally confronted him about the 27 pencils she had given him, jokingly asking for financial compensation. Conner had given a small grin, grabbed his backpack, unzipped it, and turned it upside down, dumping the 27 pencils on the girls desk. After offering to buy her dinner as payment, the two were inseparable.
He had managed to fall in love with the girl within the first two months of knowing her, and after dating her for a little over year, he was convinced he had found the love of his life. But because life is cruel, that was ripped away from him too.
It had been the night of his twentieth birthday when he had received the call. Mia had made dinner plans for them and she was never late. He had been nervously pacing, waiting for the front door to finally open when his phone started ringing. The bright display with Mia's name scrolled across had given him false hope, and when he answered the call his world shattered.
Turns out Conner's nervousness had been well deserved, as his life morphed into his worst nightmare. He fled the apartment quickly, attempting to make it to the hospital as soon as possible. After a long night of fighting, Mia Elizabeth Ross had lost her life at only nineteen. Sitting in that waiting room, he felt his heart hollow out and crack along the seems, for not only had he lost his beautiful Mia, but the little baby girl who was growing inside of her. Unbeknownst to them both, Mia had been about three and a half months pregnant at the time of the accident that took her life. So when they should have named her together and signed the birth certificate after holding her in his arms, he was picking a name to be added to a headstone along with Mia’s. So he chose Ellie after Mia’s middle name, wanting to put Mia’s love in it as well and it was set in stone.
Needless to say, that had been the worst birthday Conner had ever had. So there he was, left completely and utterly heartbroken. Now it was Bella's turn to be there for Conner. Except she wasn’t. She did try, really, she did, but only three months after the accident she decided it would be best if she moved in with her father. Although she hadn't done it out of selfish reason, only to allow her mother to enjoy life with her new husband, Conner couldn't help but feel a little bitter towards the younger girl. After he had stayed in Phoenix to be there for his sister, she had left him when he needed her the most.
Despite his resentment, he decided to try to maintain his close relationship with the teen. For the first couple months they had talked on the phone everyday. Discussing how it was going at the new school, the many boys that had asked her to the dance coming up, and how it was being around Charlie again. Then one day, she never picked up. Days turned into weeks, and soon months had gone by with little to no communication between the two siblings. He then decided in distracting himself from the heartache with his studies, fully devoting his time to trying to finishing his degree. Running on autopilot, just trying to make it through day by day.
His father had called him just two weeks after the calls from his sister had stopped to let him know that she had an accident when traveling with her new boyfriend and fallen down the stairs breaking a few bones and losing a lot of blood in the process. This of course came as no surprise to him as Bella had to be the biggest klutz the twenty year old had ever met. What was shocking was the boyfriend part. He had never really seen his little sister interested in anyone in that way. Regardless of the coldness he held for the teen, Conner couldn't help but feel happy for her in that aspect. He hadn’t really met Edward, when he came to visit her in the hospital after the accident, as he was sleeping. But, woah, he was nice looking, and Conner wasn’t too attached to his masculinity to admit it. He just hoped Edward would treat her right and cherish her.
It was only a month after the whole Bella and Edward incident that Conner had finally graduated college with his associates degree. He had been beyond relieved to be done with the hell hole that reminded him of what he lost. He soon started looking for a job in accounting, what he had his degree in. It was boring, but it payed the bills, and he was good at it. He spent a big chunk of his summer engrossing himself in his work much to his mother's dismay. He had insisted that it helped distract him from the pain in his heart.
It was around the middle of August when the depression became too much to bear. His therapist then decided it would be best to put him on antidepressants. They helped in a way, slightly numbing the pain in his chest. But it hurt to hear her name. To see her things that sat around the apartment, untouched since the accident. To see the velvet box that sat on his dresser haunting him.
About a month after starting on his antidepressants, Conner had received a call from his father regarding his sister. She and Edward had broken up and she apparently wasn't taking it very well. She had refused to talk to anyone, including their mother, which had come as a shock to the older sibling as they had always been extremely close. Much closer than he had been to his mother. Conner had brushed off his sister's behavior and assumed it was just normal teenage heartache. He only started growing genuinely concerned when a month later, his father called again informing him that she had gotten worse. It wasn't like his sister to be like this. Then again, he hadn't talked to her for over six months, so who was he to judge how she was acting? So he brushed it off again, and continued going through the motions of life. Living day by day just trying not to drown in his sorrow.
It was around mid December when he had received his father's last call. He had been panicking, not knowing how to fix Bella's situation. She had refused to move back in with their mother in Jacksonville. So he then begged his son to move to Forks, in hopes that having her brother there would help. He figured, if Conner had helped when they were younger, why couldn't he help now? Maybe the familiarity would do the trick, and since the older sibling had nothing tying him down to Phoenix other than depressing memories and a shitty job, Conner said yes.
So here he was, keeping his promise, packing up his life. Finally convincing himself that it would be best to move away from the memories of his happiness that had died in that car accident with Mia. He was almost finished, having only a few things on top of his dresser left to pack. The first being a ball cap that his father had given him when he was a child. Second was the promise ring he had given Mia on their six month anniversary, a beautiful emerald stone, surrounded by tendrils of white gold that delicately held the stone in place. Third was the dreaded velvet box. He hadn’t had it in himself to move it since it had been placed there with the promise ring. He had emptied his pockets after returning from the hospital on that horrid day and there the two remained. I mean, what do you do with a dead girl’s engagement ring? He supposed he could’ve returned it, but that felt wrong. So, for now, he grabbed the two rings, putting them together in a small drawstring bag, adding the bag and ball cap to the box he was currently packing. He blinked away the unshed tears, taping the box shut swiftly.
Moving to Forks would be a new beginning for him. Something he needed desperately. He would never forget Mia and Ellie, he knew that. But as hard as it was to admit, he had to move on somehow. He couldn’t keep living like this, if you could even call it living. He needed to find new happiness somewhere in life, and he desperately hoped that this move would do that for him.
Little did he know, it would do much more.
